    MOCformers!

Hello all, just thought I'd share some of my Transformers characters built using primarily Bionicle, Technic, and CCBS pieces. Each of my Transformers follows what I would call the typical "rules" of a transformers toy, being that they can each transform completely without removing any pieces - except for weapons. I have many of these already built, but I have yet to take good photos of them. In the meanwhile, here are pictures of two of my favorites, Crimson Claw and Downforce Crimson Claw: A fierce hunter and always loyal to his fellow Autobots and Maximals, Crimson Claw is a natural leader and warrior. He uses his energon saber to slice through enemy Decepticons and Predacons with ease as he calls out commands to his allies. In his Lion-Mode, he can deploy two wing-blades from his thighs to further slash his opponents as he runs through battle. More photos in spoiler below: Downforce: The fastest bot around, Downforce uses his immense speed to scout ahead and inform his fellow Autobots of any Decepticon activity surrounding them. Armed with a wide array of weapons in Robot-Mode, Downforce is equipped for most any situation, should he be intercepted alone while on a scouting mission. His chainsword can rip through heavy armor, while his giant boomerang-shield can be effective at short or long ranges. His dual pistols are there just in case he needs to hold out behind cover or provide supporting fire for his teammates. In his Racecar-Mode, Downforce can achieve speeds greater than mach-3. When traveling this quickly, his tires actually lift off the ground and he hovers, using his massive rear-spoiler to stop him from completely taking off. More photos in spoiler below: I also have a detailed video overview of Downforce here on my Youtube Channel I encourage everyone to check out the other two videos I've posted. They go over two of my other Transformers that I have not taken pictures of yet. I hope everyone enjoys these "MOCformers" of mine. As always, I welcome constructive criticism and feedback. Please consider, though, that these are built mostly out of the pieces I had as a kid and any others I've acquired through my adulthood. I do not, unfortunately, have the budget to custom order every piece I need off of Bricklink and as such, I may not always have the best pieces to accomplish a job, etc. If any of you have ideas for cool future MOCformers builds, please feel free to share! I am always looking for inspiration for the next build. (Also, I hope it's glaringly obvious that CrimsonClaw's lion mode was heavily inspired by Liger Zero from the Zoids cartoon.)

Toa Krakt and Arva the Ghost

Haven't posted here in a while since I've fallen out of Bionicle with the 2016 sets, but I really wanted to share this. There's a bit of a history with this duo. Krakt started out as a joke, making a Toa entirely out of the infamously brittle lime green socket parts to tempt fate. Hence his name. It started as a very simple Inika-based design with a bog-standard build. I came up with a simple backstory for him, again, revolving around the joke that a MOC like this was not long for this world. But I actually kinda got attached to the idea of an elderly Toa, so I improved him a bit and made him a friend out of whatever parts I had on hand. Fast forward like a year and many, many revisions later and the two are far more complex and thoughtfully designed. Krakt is still at his core an Inika-inspired build, which fits in with his mundane origins as just another run-of-the-mill Toa. But his proportions were tweaked, especially the torso, I added detail like the filled in limbs and overall just defined the body shape. His fake arm is intentionally HF to make it stand out as artificial and not entirely sophisticated. Arva is a unique torso build, half system half technic, with a Mixels ball joint in the neck. Really neither are anything super special, just fancy builds of mundane designs, with a little history to them. A little bit of backstory on them: Thanks for looking!
  4. After almost two whole years of story we've had some theories and discussions, but I haven't seen much talk about the headcanons each one of us created around Okoto and its characters. This topic is the right place to share this beloved and yet controversial aspect of any thriving fandom. I'll start with mine: -the toys are 100% accurate representations of the characters JtO made an awesome job in giving life to the Uniters, Creatures and Umarak, but I still think it took too many liberties (an example: the legs on Ekimu's falcon). I know sets may be gappy and all, but I still think they're solid enough to be actual biomechanical beings fighiting, hunting and living their lifes. As a consequence of this first headcanon... -the biological components of the characters are actually inside their bones We don't have a percentage telling us how much biological the Okotoans are, unlike the 15% back in G1, but we could guess it's not much more than that. And, as delicate as they are, I think these components are well protected inside their bones and armors, far from the eyes. -the side of the torso/limb left uncovered by armor is actually protected by a small magnetic field The easiness with whom mechanical parts need to be replaced created a series of consequences, the most glaring one represented by the fact that the armor covers just one side of the torso/limb. To compensate, a small magnetic field generated by the armor itself protects the uncovered area. This applies as well for torso armor. -the society of the Okotoans isn't patriarchal neither matriarchal, yet there are more males than females Onua was surprised Korgot was female, even though the legend talked about "fathers and sons", but I think this happened just because he wasn't part of their society. For the Okotians male or female is not a big deal, and while in G2 most of the leading figures were males (beginning with Makuta and Ekimu), I think it's just because there are mole males than females. Nothing suggests us that males have more power than females, and I think that in this aspect G1 and G2 are the same: females exist, they don't face any problem because of that, but there are simply less of them. And speaking of females and males... -the Okotoans don't reproduce as we do I think it's more of an energy thing. They may fall in love and such, but when they decide to have babies some sort of meditation comes in play along with their limited amount of biological components. They don't get pregnant neither lay eggs, but after the "meditation" the newborn is just there. Not much different from how matorans were made in G1, except this time love plays a role. I think those are the most relevant headcanons I have for G2. Please remember: they're just that, headcanons. I'd love to hear yours, I hope this thread sparks an interesting discussion.
  5. Ah yes, Skull Skorpio, with his aesthetically unappealing Technic whatever-the-heck tacked onto his legs... ...wait, his legs? Oh yeah. This is something I presumed the moment I saw Skull Scorpio. His tail being attached to that torso bone's pelvis via what appear to be skeletal thighs, brought up an interesting idea... What if those were his thighs? The Skull Army are reanimated, re-amalgamated skeletal warriors, crafted from the remains of ancient Okotoan residents by Kulta's dark magical powers (as denoted by the glowing orange patches on their undead bodies). But what's to say these skeletons we see bumbling around on Okoto are in the original layout that they were when they were buried? What's to say that Kulta didn't take a little bit of creative license when magicking up his spooky soldiers? My idea is that Skull Scorpios were originally humanoid skeletons, which were then reassembled by Kulta on their backs. Legs were attached to and grown from what were their spines, and their heads and arms were twisted back to face up away from the body. The original legs were left as only thighs, to which the mechanical clamping tails, amalgamated from other mechanical components in the earth, were attached to what were originally their knees. In short, Skull Scorpios are incredibly unnatural, eldritch abominations, which spit in the face of anatomy and logic. So, yeah, that's how I envision it. Or at least, that's how I try and make sense of why the heck Skull Scorpio's tail looks so goshdarn awful. TL;DR My idea is that Skull Scorpios used to be regular skeletons, but were reformed on their backs with big mechanical pinching weapons attached onto what were their knees.

    Lungorthin the devil

Hello there. One day I decided to remake Lava Beast, but something go wrong and this evil looking guy appeared. Hope you enjoy, any comments welcome!
  7. I really liked big Ekimu, but he had few issues that I decided to fix (mainly a little too much of trans blue color and strange pads): rebuild legs; rebuild torso (a little rough method to connect, in better way gearbox with new torso), rebuild hammer; added cape from polybag; Big gallery (also pics with gold version of mask, and other torso armors)
  8. Took me long enough to upload these, but here are my Akamai and Wairuha that I built in early 2015. Gotta say, I was (and still am) pretty happy with how they turned out. Sorry for the slightly blurry picture. Gallery when public: Features more pictures as well as in-depth looks at their builds if you want to make them yourself! Little background: I left out the gear functions since I was going more for looks and stability over playability. In terms of looks, I based their appearances mostly on the Mata Kaita in their color layouts and weapons. Unfortunately I couldn't give Akamai his club, so I just gave him backhand spikes of doom. Their builds are roughly the same. The shoulders and arms are pretty much identical, structurally-speaking. Their pelvises as well since I wanted them to share similar skirt armor. On the whole, I think their similarities are a benefit as it ties the two together as a team. Of course, I did take some artistic liberties. I made them much more armored up and almost Samurai-esque. Also gave them some extra flair: Wairuha has an extra set of blades stored on her (yes, I identify Wairuha as female) back, and Akamai uses Pohatu's boomerangs for some back wings (I guess he has a jetpack now?). you may also notice I left out Onua's purple and Lewa's yellow. They just clashed way too much with the rest of the colors. If you're curious about Wairuha's feet, I used a similar design on another MoC. Actually quite stable. I just didn't want to give her goofy clown shoes, so I went with smaller, spike-toes. That's about it. Really looking forward to doing the same with the 2016 Toa.
  9. MODS 2016 Bionicle Summer Wave "Canister" Sets It’s that time of year again! Here’s my first batch of modded 2016 summer Bionicle sets. One more will be unveiled soon ;) Ekimu the Mask Maker Ekimu features a more streamlined gearbox build, more comfortably positioned shoulder pauldrons, and a port on his back to attach a clear stand for his trusty falcon. Oh, and toes. Gotta have toes. Pose, Falcon Overhead Front, Falcon perched Back, Falcon perched Pose, Falcon perched Skeleton, Torso front Skeleton, Torso back Lava Beast I loved this guy initially, but I was desperate to fill out his torso and improve his legs. He also gets a full Shadow Trap, much like his brothers. Front Back Front, Stood straight Detail, Lower legs Skeleton, Torso Front Skeleton, Torso back Storm Beast Not much has been altered aesthetically with this fella, but his mechanism has been modified slightly to accommodate some traditional friction gears. Front Back Pose, Slashing Skeleton, Torso back Skeleton, Torso front Quake Beast Quake Beast received quite the aesthetic overhaul, along with a more standard gear function for his crystalline clubbing arm. 11. Hey guys! Long time lurker/member, but have only recently started visiting the site again. Unfortunately, I've been hit with some unexpected expenses recently, so I'm selling off my sealed box collection I've amassed over the past few years. Without further ado, here's some pictures of what I have to sell (only sale at this point, no trades sorry): Rancor Pit (75005) = $85 Gungan Sub (9499) = $100 Republic Swamp Speeder (8091) = $35 UCS Naboo Starfighter (10026) = $650 Brickley (3300001) = $40 and Droids Battle Pack (7654) = $30 Brutaka (8734) = $100 Too many to list, ask for specifics! The Lego Store Grand Opening 2012 (140 out of 500 -- Nashville, TN) = negotiable and Monster Fighters promotional polybag (5000644-1) = $35 Feel free to PM me if you need another picture or clarification on anything, as some of the boxes do have wear on them or are bent/slightly scuffed; prices are negotiable! In most cases shipping is not included, though I'll never charge more than what it actually is and I'll combine if you buy multiple sets. A little info about me: live in the US (Alabama), no pets and don’t smoke, and have +22 positive feedback on the Straightshooter’s List (albeit that was from a couple years ago haha). I’d be willing to ship outside the US, but the buyer would have to pay for the extra shipping + insurance so I’d like to keep it local if possible. Thanks for looking!

  13. Hey guys! The overall opinion of G2 Bionicle across the fanbase is rather divided, so I thought it'd be interesting to make a Strawpoll to try and gauge what people from multiple communities (Facebook, Eurobricks, BZPower, The TTV Forums, Flickr) feel about the line. The poll is as displayed; To submit your answer, click here. If you don't wish to answer (or already have) and wish to view the results, click here. Once you've answered, please feel free to share the poll elsewhere to help get a larger sample size. Thanks!

    [MOC] Goat herding Turaga

After building and lurking in the various Bionicle communities since day 1 of the theme, I decided to start posting some of the stupid things I build. You can find larger pictures on my Flickr stream. Enjoy! "A deranged old Turaga who devoted his life to herding rams. Occasionally he rambles incoherently about some great escape that almost cost him his arm." "A not-so-bright looking ram with suspicious face paint."
  15. Hi everyone, This is my first post in the in this forum (usually I'm in Historic or Action & Adventure). As a kid, I was a big Bionicle fan, but my interest in the theme subsided over the years. However, when I saw renders the Mask of Creation, I knew I had to pick it up. I bought it loose via B&P several months ago and now I've made a decent display pedestal for it: I think I may have seen similar mask pedestals, but I'm not sure. This design is easy to build and customize, I could easily swap out some parts and fit on a different mask. I'm planning on doing this for the Mask of Control, once I get it. This build consists of only 30 pieces and has a straight-forward construction. Inside, the big black wheels are connected with a 3-long pin in the middle and the hexagonal top part is secured with two 1x1 bricks on connector pegs, one on either side of the central pin hole. Thanks for looking! C&C always appreciated!

Hello everybody, here are my virtual re-imaginations of the Toa Metru! (images are clickable) Thank you for your attention!
  17. WoW Legion is introducing a new weapon system and the primary weapon of Beastmasters will be this: http://i.imgur.com/wQ3DY0F.png My reasoning: Flavor text of the item is: "A peerless example of techno-magical engineering, infused with the power of storms." 1. It says "techno-magical" in the flavor text which is how I've always described BIONICLE. 2. It's powered by Lightning just the same as the Laser Crossbow and Kongu's Toa powers. 3. The lightning was a machination of the "Great Beings"-- the "titans" of BIONICLE. A Titan of WoW made Titanstrike. 4. Their shapes are very similar, albeit Blizzard put far more detail into it. The orb where lightning is held in the bow is where the button activating the light effect of the toy was located. The "power button" if you will. 5. Both Kongu and Beast Master hunters specialized in animals. They tame animals and summon them. Kongu has worked with animals practically his entire life, and even got the ability to summon them magically. 6. One of the artifact sockets of Titanstrike is a Wind socket. Kongu was Toa Inika of Air, and his crossbow could manipulate wind. Also worth noting that Kongu could control some Lightning as part of the Inikas' cohesive theme, and many of the features of Titanstrike are lightning-based as well. I'm pretty excited about this, but are there any other BIONICLE Lore buffs that find this interesting or disagree with the hypothesis? I was hoping to find another BIONICLE fan out here who might have more input on this.

  23. Bit late to the party but I needed the parts of the 2016 winter sets to finish these mods. So here are my mods of the Skull Villains. (I've already made a topic for Skull Scorpio so it won't be posted here. But to make up for it. I made a Skull villain for Gali to fight All of the mods save for Skull Grinder have the trans orange removed. I just didn't like it on the others. That's just my opinion Gallery- http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=564493 First off is Skull Warrior. Not many changes to him but I did rebuild the bow so the firing gimmick doesn't turn the whole bow. http://www.brickshel...llwarrior01.jpg http://www.brickshel...llwarrior02.jpg http://www.brickshel...llwarrior03.jpg http://www.brickshel...llwarrior04.jpg http://www.brickshel...llwarrior05.jpg (Weapons stored & holding Kopaka's gold mask) http://www.brickshel...llwarrior06.jpg http://www.brickshel...llwarrior07.jpg Next is Skull Slicer. Main changes are getting rid of the chain weapon to give him a fourth sword. And armor on the trans green bones. http://www.brickshel...ullslicer01.jpg http://www.brickshel...ullslicer02.jpg http://www.brickshel...ullslicer03.jpg http://www.brickshel...ullslicer04.jpg http://www.brickshel...ullslicer05.jpg (Weapons stored & holding Lewa's gold mask) http://www.brickshel...ullslicer06.jpg Next is Skull Basher. Main changes are making the gimmick less lose. It can't swing both arms together but still allows side to side movement. I also gave him a tail and hooves to emphasize the bull aspect a bit more. He has solid purple armor so his horns don't stick out as much. http://www.brickshel...ullbasher01.jpg http://www.brickshel...ullbasher02.jpg http://www.brickshel...ullbasher03.jpg http://www.brickshel...ullbasher04.jpg http://www.brickshel...ullbasher05.jpg (Weapons stored & holding Onua's gold mask) http://www.brickshel...kullbasher6.jpg Next is the villain I made for Gail. I call her Skull Strika. She's based on Aanchir's Skull ripper design but doesn't have any trans light blue parts. Only trans dark blue. She has no legs but instead a large tail with a skull sword for stealing masks. To compensate I built her a stand. Storywise she would be a species like Skull Scorpio and attack the group when there on the way to Ekimu's forge http://www.brickshel...ullstrika01.jpg http://www.brickshel...ullstrika02.jpg http://www.brickshel...ullstrika03.jpg http://www.brickshel...ullstrika04.jpg http://www.brickshel...ullstrika05.jpg (Holding Gali's gold mask) http://www.brickshel...ullstrika06.jpg (Stand build) http://www.brickshel...ullstrika07.jpg Next is Kulta the Skull Grinder. His changes are filling in his torso a bit more. Replacing his black bones with dark grey ones. And removing the small sword he had. He never used it in the animations or book anyways. http://www.brickshel...llgrinder01.jpg http://www.brickshel...llgrinder02.jpg http://www.brickshel...llgrinder03.jpg http://www.brickshel...llgrinder04.jpg http://www.brickshel...llgrinder05.jpg (Weapon stored & holding Tahu's gold mask) http://www.brickshel...llgrinder06.jpg (Weapon stored & putting on the Mask of Creation) http://www.brickshel...llgrinder07.jpg (Posed wearing the Mask of Creation) Finally a group shot including my modded Skull Scorpio http://www.brickshel...ullvillains.jpg Comments and criticism appreciated

  25. Since its introduction in 2011 CCBS has evolved in many interesting ways that, especially since 2014, allowed us to understand how far can the system go. In 2016 we had for the first time two themes fully coexisting througout the year: BIONICLE and Star Wars. Both offered a wide range of builds and techinques, with the winter wave of BIONICLE creating a unique blend of CCBS and Technic and SW crafting models close to perfection. And while the BIONICLE summer wave for this year contains the controversial beasts, Umarak and Ekimu are respectively the first G2 titan and a perfect blend of 2015 and 2016 BIONICLE builds. On top of that, the recently leaked SW sets make it seems like the bar may be set even higher. In short: do you think we're living the best CCBS year as of yet?
