  1. Hello All, I have exhibited at Legoworld in the Netherlands this year with a landscape based on the first pirates series. The landscape is 7 meters long and 1.25 wide. I created this landscape with my brother and it took ,roughly said, 5 months to built. We wanted a bigger landscape, but we did not have that many blue baseplates. The landscape contains a small town with a wall around it. There is a small harbor and a bit of countryside. Behind the wall is a big sea with several Islands of the Imperial soldier. There is one big island with Islanders. The island contains a volcano, several waterfalls and cottages of the Islanders. Across the sea is a fortress of the Imperial Armada. In the end corners of the landscape are several pirate hideouts and a city of gold (Eldorado?). Here is the link to the pictures. http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=560054 Questions and comments/feedback are welcome. Sincerely, Sander

    The New Providence wreckers

Hello guys, I guess October-November were really active all around the world as far as contests and LUGs are concerned. Thus, i made the following MOC for www.thebrick.gr "show me your squad" contest and since it is of piratical content, i feel obliged to present it to you :P The idea was to present the infamous wreckers that worked around the globe scavenging wrecks and since that was a crime and had to be zero eye-witnesses, some of them even killed any unfortunate wreck survivors. Of them all, the most notorious were the Bahamas wreckers, the New Providence ones and in Europe the Cornish and the ones living at the coast of Normandy, France. For more information check the following articles: https://en.wikipedia...ing_(shipwreck) http://www.historic-...glers-Wreckers/ So, voila! PTV 2015 Small: Death from Above

Here's my entry to the small category of the PTV contest. The pirates used the cliff as a convenient method of murder...On the ground below, spears served to impale any enemies thrown off the cliff.... Of course, occasionally a body might miss the spears... This was a fun build; it was interesting to try building with a size restriction (which I don't normally do). I've been slowly working on this build for over a month, and I'm quite satisfied with how it turned out, especially the cliff. The idea of the blood flowing into the water is something I've been wanting to do for a while (although it was a last-minute addition). I don't actually have any pirates sets, so making the minifigures was pretty tricky; I think they look reasonably decent, though. Enjoy!

    PTV 2015 Large: Judgement Day

Hi guys, Here is my entry at PTV 2015 Large division. Judgement Day. Because after all, all this pillaging and stealing has a sure end! Historically only 5% got away with pirate life. So that leaves us with 95% hanged pirates. Even small children working at pirates sloops didn't make it. There is also one record with a hanged pirate that was caught after serving only a couple of days in a pirate ship. Talking about bad luck! I tried to include every pirate drama in this MOC. Anger (angry mob), Satisfaction (governor), Love (lieutenant with governor's daughter), Fear (pirates ready to be hanged), Hope or Revenge (pirates ready to storm the execution). Thanks for watching and wish you all luck. UPDATE! (gory version) It turned out that the bluecoats had it coming! The rioters were nothing but a bunch of fellow pirates! And of course they couldn't stand still while fellow pirates were about to be hanged... judgement day riot C by Spy Tha, on Flickr judgement day riot B by Spy Tha, on Flickr judgement day riot D by Spy Tha, on Flickr judgement day riot A by Spy Tha, on Flickr judgement day riot E by Spy Tha, on Flickr As always, good luck to all the participants!

    PTV 2015 Small: Unlucky

The rays of the rising sun illuminated the dirty wall squeezing through the bars. Billy felt the salty flavour of the sea and listened to the distant squeaks of the seagulls in the port. There, for a second day now, the grinning head of the Fat Joe was swinging on the yard. He was lucky – he died in battle when their ship was taken in abordage. His brave shipmates, though, weren’t that lucky. Today, at dawn, they were going to be hanged at the approving clamour of the crowd.

  8. These ruthless pirates thought that walking the plank was too easy of a punishment. They got together and decided to give the captured soldier no chance at survival by tying him to a chair and dropping him off in a remote part of the ocean. A view of the lower half of the ship, with an unwanted visitor... A birds eye view of the deck... This is my entry to the PTV 2015 contest (Small category). Thank you :) Pat
  9. This is a section of a larger building. It belongs to my favourite pirate's enemies - Bluecoats. From some time I was thinking about building something similar to LEGO Creator modulars but in Pirates style. Then I spotted contest on Eurobricks forum which motivated me to finish my little project. Bigger photos and full story here: LEGO Gallery - Bluecoats' mini-modular (16x16) Follow my new MOCs and articles at: Facebook | Flickr | Google+ --- Notice: This is a shortened version of the post from LEGO Blog - Bricks' Treasure.

    Pirates: LEGO vs Playmobil

Hello pirate fans, I enjoyed photographing the well known first LEGO pirate ship (set #6285 Black Seas Barracuda, realesd in 1987) close to the first Playmobil pirate ship (set #3550 released in 1978). When LEGO launched the "pirate ship" I was already a teenager inside my dark age, so I bought it a few years ago at a flea market for a few euro. It was a bargain: it was almost complete and the bricks were like new and not played. The Playmobil ship instead is mine: Christmas 1980, my parents gave me the set 3550 that I have kept to this day. I've spent hours and hours playing with this pirateship when I was a child and I'm so happy to still own it! What do you think about these two toy masterpieces? Here few shots: More pictures and info: Norton74 @ flickr

    [MOC] My Black Pearl

164D Hi all! Since the end of my Dark Age, one year and a half ago, I have worked on my first big creation: yes, another Black Pearl! My work finished ten days ago, just in time for ItLUG Lecco 2014, and now I am here to present you my creation! More pictures can be found on this Flickr gallery. Other photo on this WIP gallery. Sorry for the quality of the photos but I'm not a photographer! I hope you enjoyed my work!

    [MOC] Dead Pirates Society

This time I will be referring to an old movie - and I present to you the "Dead Pirates Society": This seems to be a thriller night... .. not my usual colour scheme but I am quite happy with the way it has worked out. I had actually though that the iconic picture with the pupils standing on their desks was also the movie poster. It wasn't. Hopefully the reference is still recognizable. C&C welcome. Larger and more pics to be found on flickr.

    MOC: The Tumble-Home Tavern

Happy finally to be able to present to you my latest MOC, The Tumble-Home Tavern (pun intended). As a wise Jedi once said, "Never will you find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy." So here goes..... I wanted to try something different with the look of the building, so I did a beat-up stone facade. I really like the way the weathervane turned out. "Move along, nothing to see here." No cows were harmed in the shooting of this scene. The tomb of the notorious pirate, Deadbeard. Back shot of the tomb of Deadbeard. And there's the man, himself! "Mine?! Mine?!" It doesn't appear the 12 Steps are working. Sigh.... why is the rum always gone? Well now, this is awkward.... Also note the Redcoat spy in the barrel. I can't tell if they're checking the menu for names they know or trying to worship the metal chicken on top. Here's a closer view of the stone work on the facade. I still need to finish the sign. Frankly I'm a little surprised - I thought pigs had some standards. Definitely not the Swedish Chef. The fireplaces are lit from below using small LED tea light candles. Another shot of the chef hard at work. How do you like your giant bug's head cooked? The back view. Some of the nastiest pirates around are meeting upstairs - Dread Pirate Roberts, Blackbeard, Sponge-Beard Square-Rig, and nearly every pirate captain TLG has released since 1989 - Metal Beard is absent because I'm still working on him. The upstairs lifts out for easier access. Overview shot of the downstairs. My tribute to Isaac, the bartender on "The Love Boat". Note the baseball bat behind the bar. Originally this was a musket, but the baseball bat was funnier to me. "The fish is dead! Long live the fish!" I don't think kitty really wants to eat that three-eyed mutant fish. May I just brag a little about this corner? Part of why I wanted to do this project was because I wanted to do these sorts of windows. I'm really quite happy with the way they turned out, and this particular photo is one of my favorites because this is the exact effect for which I was going. The answer is yes, you can bring outside food into the tavern, but they make you cook it, yourself. I think he can do better. When I originally built this Minifigure he was marrying a cow. "Avast there, matey! I'm a pirate! Come sit on me!" I had to do this. I just had to. I'm sure you understand. Lobster or giant scorpion? I reckon we'll find out when he whacks it with that hammer. More of the action downstairs.... And I love that you can see the face of a Bluecoat soldier through the window. A shot down the pier... Proudly owned and operated by a guy with more money than brains and a guy with more fake parts than real. Thanks for looking!

    Redcoat Ship

This is a small MOC from a while ago. As you can see it doesn't have any sails because I couldn't find any good parts for that. It has 3 Redcoats and 1 pirate! It has different weapons to example swords etc. This is also my first pirate MOC (I'm 13) but I will do more in the future. Any suggestions? Just tell me in the comments. Have a nice day you bloody pirates, Aye

[MOC] Captain Cookie's Only Pirate Gang

Well, it must have been some twenty years since Captain Cookie has taught his men to plunder. So, he and his gang are assembling on the peach to have a party. Being for the benefit of Captain Cookie. In the background you will find the famous Mozart himself: .. and I wonder where this is coming from... Strangely enough I hear some music in my head when I look at these pictures As usual the larger pics look much better. Have a nice weekend CB

    small pirate boat

The shipwrecked twins (from 70409 x2) decided it was about time to stop being targets for the imperials' amusement and their cannons. So they broke free from the island, by scraping a small boat off some shipwreck pieces (and some foraging inside some small shoe boxes). Which version do you like (bow-wise)?? [MOC] Captain Cookie's New Wardrobe

Let me introduce Captain Cookie: He has been visiting a local pirate supply store and has found a great new wardrobe: Other pirates are shopping too: (This is not quite "Pillage the Village" but I hope you like it nevertheless). (I just had to produce some decent furniture. My buildings have a tendency to be empty on the inside...) C&C welcome!

    MOC - Atlantis Prowler Jr.

After quite some time hiding in the closet a small 6268 - "renegade runner" ship was found, along with a couple of days to spend ! Later on I found out unused bricks from Lego set Atlantis came up rather productive. So...feeling nostalgic after a long time without Lego, since playing with those was like 20yrs ago I thought, why wouldnt I make those unused briks into something usefull ? So there it is, I present you the newly born "Atlantis Prowler Jr." ! I used Lego 6286 as my quide for captains suite, available bricks on my desk brought me somewhere else, but ok, since this is MOC, I think it should be fine ! SidePic One Mast 8B Despite the fact this ship is as small as it gets, it was possible to make a dungeon with capture doors and front bars for prisoner to have some light in his confined space ! The doors are blended in with their surroundings, so you wouldnt really know theres anything hiding below. MiniDungeon Sides can be opened as with serious bigger ships, comes in handy really, couldnt live without it now forum image hosting I updated the canon (Variant 6286 - Skulls Eye), modified myself, because original was to deep in the hull and fixed on ground. This one can move left and forth and has more place to move arround. Canon Portrait The captains quarters are high, just as I wanted them to be. I must say I'm satisfied with the result, keeping in mind the limited resources I had at my disposal SidePicLeft SidePicRight The decor is massive, I thought if I'm putting some time into it I might make it also count. Theres a thin line between enough and too much, therefore I hope I reached the golden middle there...chains also add some flow to the silhouette. FrontView From top its all visible, much more space to move arround, more deckspace also makes up for opticaly bigger ship. TopView As you can see all that is left original is compass, hull pieces, canon and sails, other bricks are all from Lego Atlantis Set. Hope you like it, I do because it's the smallest ship in my fleet !
