  1. The Palace of Pontelli. Early afternoon. A number of differently shaped metal objects of various colours is spread out on the table in front of the Mayor of Pontelli, Smiling Sally. She is accompanied by Attorney Jon van Dyke (head of legal affairs) and Toktawoo (head of foreign affairs) and a Marquis from Oleon. (The Marquis is leaning on a golden walking cane, he must have made some money recently...) Sally clears her throat, briefly glances at Jon van Dyke and Toktawoo, and then commences: Well, Mister Oldton. I understand that this collection of metal is actually a new monetary system that you want us to implement. Ismael Oldton: That is correct, Mylady. Smiling Sally: You are lucky, that my old friend the Marquis d'Ape has spoken in favour of your suggestion. So, let's hear what you have to say. Ismael Oldton: What I suggest, Mylady, is actually straightforwarth. Lemme explain: This (pointing to a silverish small coin) is a Fnarthing. Jon van Dyke: Does it smell? Ismael Oldton: No, no, not yet. If you happen to have three Fnarthings they are actually worth a half Pnenny (pointing to a reddish small coin). Toktawoo: And then two half Pnenny make a Pnenny? Ismael Oldton: Not quite, not so fast. Three half Pnennys make a Pnenny. (Jon van Dyke and Toktawoo exchange looks) Ismael Oldton (continues): Three Pnennys are worth a Thrupnenny, that is that spirally piece over there. And, of course, two Thrupnennys are a Sixpnence, when you add another Fnarthing. (Smiling Sally is frowning while the Marquis seems to giggle.) Ismael Oldton: Now, I call two Sixpnence a "Robert" (a quadratic coin). And, as you may have guessed, two Roberts are the equivalent of a "Venician". Jon van Dyke: I am sorry, which of these metal pieces is the "Venician"? Ismael Oldton: That massive golden quarter of a ring over there. Jon van Dyke (trying to lift it, failing): Oh, I see. Ismael Oldton: The interesting thing is, if you have a Venician and three Sixpnence, you get an Gwuinee. Toktawoo: What is a Gwuinee? Ismael Oldton: This little furry animal. Jon van Dyke: I heard that there also was to be a Shnilling? And it was worth thirteen Pnence. Maybe that is the same as your Pnenny. Ismael Oldton: I skipped it. Who needs a Shnilling in such a well-balanced monetary system? Smiling Sally: Quite right. Tell me, what is this large piece of gold? Ismael Oldton: A Pnound. It is the equivalent of two Gwuinees and three and a half Fnarthings. Jon van Dyke: And what is that small dotted piece over there? Ismael Oldton: That is my breakfast cookie. Smiling Sally: Right. So let us imagine I want to buy something. Let's say that it is costing a Venician and a Thrupnenny. So if I would pay with a Pnound, what would I get back as change? Ismael Oldton: How would I know? Smiling Sally (talking to the guards): Mr. Oldton wants to leave immediately. He is given three hours to leave Pontelli. He is a persona non grata and will be arrested should he try to ever enter Pontelli again. (Oldton is chucked out) Smiling Sally: So, what is the latest update on the tulip trade? Jon van Dyke: The trade seems to be going crazy, Mylady. People have started to take loans just to be able to participate in the tulip trade. Smiling Sally: Because the tulip prices keep rising? Jon van Dyke: Yes. They believe this will go on forever. (new scene: A street in Pontelli) Willem "Chuck" Norris: Good to see you Mr, White. Mr. White: Goodday. Willem "Chuck" Norris: As I mentioned last week, I intend to buy this house (pointing to the tan coloured house behind them) Mr. White: Well, that is going to be quite expensive. How would you pay such a large sum? Willem "Chuck" Norris: That is going to be super easy, barely an inconvenience. I have this tulip certificate. Mr. White (smiling): Very well, Sir. Then this whole street is yours! Willem "Chuck" Norris: I like the way you do business. A Good Idea?

Pontelli. An evening of tulip trade. Things are going well. (btw. the reading voice in your head for this should be the guy doing "extra credits" on Youtube...) Lady de Summer (on the left of the table): I want to sell 20 tulips. Sir Krantenhagen (on the very right): Yes, Mylady. There's plants and bulbs but I don't see none of them. Lady de Summer: Well, I am just a Lady, sitting across from you, wanting to sell some tulips. And certainly I have 20 tulips. Just not here and not with me. Sir Krantenhagen: So how do you want to sell them? There was a pause. Everyone glanced at the others. Lady de Summer: Certificate. Sir Krantenhagen: Sir Tifficate? Who's that? Lady de Summer: Cer-Ti-Fi-Cate. One word. I will sign a certificate. Like this one: (pulling up a pre-prepared document) Sir Krantenhagen: (thinking) Slim Shady: I think that will do. And it will free us from moving those tulips all around. Lady Beetle: And we can also sell tulips outside of the season. Sir Krantenhagen: You mean, just sell their certificates? There was a silent moment at the table. And then they all thought, that it was a good idea. (They did not know...) Sir Krantenhagen: ... and the price for a certificate will be? Lady de Summer: ... just like the added prices for all the bulbs and plants... [MOC] Trouble in the Tavern

Last Friday in the "Three Cannon Balls" tavern: ... some trouble started... ... the usual trouble in a pirate tavern. (with a variation of the lighting) Initially I just wanted to build the interior of a pirate tavern, but then it seemed possible to have a somewhat decent outside too (with a - admittedly - very basic roof): Larger pictures and more on flickr. C&C welcome!

    The Tulip Traders

Pontelli. Early Afternoon. A crowded tavern In a back room we find an assembly of merchants and traders, trading and discussing. (at the table from left to right:) Thomas Guilder (standing in for Senior Merchant Habakus) Willem "Chuck" Norris Slim Shady Fred the shopkeeper (yes, he is sitting now) Lady Beetle Sir Krantenhagen (Secretary) Sir Krantenhagen: Well, before we close our weekly trade meeting, I would like to bring up a new topic, which seems to be quite in fashion with customers these days. Lady Beetle: And what would that be? Sir Krantenhagen: Tulips, Mylady. Lady Beetle: Those flowery thingies? Sir Krantenhagen: Precisely. Lady Beetle: What about them? Sir Krantenhagen: Well, it seems that their trade has increased quite significantly over the pasts few weeks. And so have the prices. There is quite a lot of dubloons to be made with tulips. Willem "Chuck" Norris: Yes, I can add to that. Actually I have a new shipment of tulips coming in tomorrow. Slim Shady: What type of tulip, if I may ask? Willem "Chuck" Norris: Those Mondials. Slim Shady: How much do you want for them? Willem "Chuck" Norris: Well, that will be a dubloon each. Sir Krantenhagen (surprised): Such much? Lady Beetle (undeterred): How many tulips are shipping in? Willem "Chuck" Norris: About 25. Slim Shady: I'll take them. All of them. Willem "Chuck" Norris (smiling): That's a done deal then. Lady Beetle: That leaves nothing for me then? I am just a Lady, sitting in front of you, asking you to give me some tulips. Fred: She's right. Once you have realized that you want to spend the rest of your life selling tulips, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible Thomas Guilder: I think I can help you out. Habakus is expecting a delivery of fine Royal Blues. About 30. That could be 15 for both of you. Lady Beetle: And I thought sellers and buyers could never be friends. How much? Thomas Guilder: Also one dubloon per tulip. Lady Beetle and Fred smilingly agree. Sir Krantenhagen (distracted): What is that noise coming from the entrance? Waiter: I am very sorry, Sir. There is a strange guy from Corrington, who is trying to educate everyone of a new monetary system. It is said to consist of pnence. Sir Krantenhagen: Pnence, schmence. Get rid of that guy! (pausing) And I think that concludes our trade meeting for tonight. (all leave) Captain Cookie (to himself): There is more to this tulip thing than I initially thought. If this goes on they are going to be more precious than gold! The story so far: Something for a Lady Buying Some Flowers Captain Cookies next move Gray's Universal Store What is he doing here? What is he doing here?

Pontelli. Busy market street. A client enters a shop. Dr. Thaum: Hello there. Fred the shopkeeper: Hello Dr. Thaum. An honour to see you here. What can I do for you? Dr. Thaum: Where is that bonehead Callaghan? I thought I'd seen him run into this very boutique. Fred the shopkeeper (looks under his desk): No, Sir, there's nobody in here but meself. Dr. Thaum: So what should I be buying here? A parrot? Fred: Sorry, we're right out of parrots. But I got a nice choice of cauldrons. Dr. Thaum (unimpressed): Hmmm. Fred: Or tulips. They are all the rage, Sir. Dr. Thaum: Tulippps? Those flowery-thingies? Fred: Precisely. Dr. Thaum: Well, how much for that red one over there? Fred: The "Ad Rem" will be half a dubloon. Dr. Thaum: Such much? Well, I'll have two then, still. Fred: They are in high demand. But rest assured, you made a good deal here. Maybe in a week or two you could sell them again for 2 dubloons. Dr. Thaum: If they don't wither until then. Well, thanks and bye. (leaves, shouting "Callaghan" while entering the street again). (next person enters) Fred: Hello,Sir. What can I do for you? Ismael Oldton: You're a shopkeeper? You're into money?`Well, old chap, I got a great new idea for coins! Fred (to himself): Oh dear, it is that strange guy from Corrington that everyone is talking about. Ismael Oldton: Let me quickly explain. It is really easy and forward-looking. The main coin you will have is pnence. Fred: A pnence? Ismael: Don't interrupt. Yes, a pnence. But there is more, of course. If you assemble 13 pnence, then you will get a shnilling. Fred: A shnilling? Ismael: Don't interrupt. With a shnilling, you will be very well off. But better, of course, with the next mighty coin: The shnilling-six-pnence. Fred: What will that buy? Ismael: Don't know. But much more than a pnence, that is for sure. Fred: Have you thought this through, Sir? Ismael: Of course, I am doing nothing else. This will be revolutionary!!! He he. Fred: I'm afraid Sir, but we're closing. Ismael: What? At four in the afternoon? Fred: Such are the rules here in Eslandolea. Ismael: Ok, ok, I will enlighten you further on another day. Till then fare thee well! (Leaves) Fred: (sighs and quickly locks the door behind Ismael). (to himself:) I sold quite a lot of those tulips today. I probably should secure my supply. Then I can make a fortune! Of dubloons, of course, not of pnences, schmences... Captain Cookies next move

Commodore Spoon had been seen buying tulips for a lady. Apparently, this triggers Captain Cookie's next move: to visit the market in Pontelli. C. Cookie: Arrr, ahoi, hello there. Merchant: Yes, Sir? C. Cookie: I heard ya sellin' those flowery thingies. Merchant: Tulips, Sir. C. Cookie: An old enemy of mine has bought some one called "Ad Rem". Merchant: These sure exist, sir. They are red. Quite lovely. C. Cookie: Well, mate, I will need something better! Merchant: This could be your lucky day, Sir! C. Cookie: What? You tell me I'll find a buried treasure? Merchant: Well, sort of. Look here! C. Cookie: Where? Merchant: Here! C. Cookie: What's that thing called? Merchant: This tulip is known as "Orange Emperor". It is sure to make a grand impact. And it is of a different colour than the other tulip you mentioned. C. Cookie: Colours are important? Merchant: Just like ebony and ivory. C. Cookie: I thought they'd live together in perfect harmony? Merchant: Whatever you say, Sir. So how about the "Orange Emperor"? C. Cookie: Just what I need. How much? Merchant: That will be half a dubloon. C. Cookie: Such much? (He is obviously of German origin) Merchant: Certainly, Sir. C. Cookie: Ok, ok. I'll have it. Let me just eat my cookie so I have my hand free. Merchant: You will not regret this purchase. C. Cookie: That'd better be true. Or I'll return. And then I would not be in good mood. C. Cookie (off with the tulip) Merchant (sighs and counts his money) Monkey (leaves with banana) ------------------------------------------------- I'll probably license this for Pontelli. A Roman Temple

There was a small Roman Temple that I had built some time ago but not really presented here. Which I wanted to do before I take it apart. You could take the roof off: It featured remarkable small space inside ... was more "bigger on the outside"-type of thing. The minifigs inside the temple could see this lovely sky above their heads... (but the inside was heavily influenced by Egypt) Final post for 2017 - all the best to you for 2018!

    New Ship for 2019

Having started a new job in January, I have found less time to pay visits to Eurobricks. Then it took me some time to clean up my flickr account so I would not have more than 1000 pictures there. Which means, now (mid of February) is the time to present you (very late) my new ship for 2019: I fear she has not been named yet... Sails are yet to be done - on the other hand the absence of sails allows a better view of the ship This was created in a long building session together with the famous Legostone (thanks again!). That is all for the moment, thanks for viewing, and, as the pirates say, ARRR!
  10. (this topic started here) They started their descent towards the pyramid they had seen in the valley. The jungle was getting thicker with each step and the mercenaries were using their sabres to cut their way forward. "There must be some way out of here", Swash Buckler said to Ram Brandt. "So much confusion here." "And the yellow things that grow here, have a strange smell", Scarlett Pontellinova added. "They make me tired", Swash Buckler replied. "Weary. My weariness amazes me." Suddenly a clearing opened before them - with a single strange stone statue in the middle of the clearing, staring back at them. "What shall we do now?" Ram Brandt asked. "It is a pagan statue. Probably of evil nature", said Swash. "Something the Oleon guys would not want to see." "Hush. The thing is hearing every word we're saying. Just look at those ears!" "I am more worried about the teeth." "Let us not talk falsely now. Shall we blow it to pieces and move on?" Scarlett mused. "We should save our bombs for the time being. We do not know what lies ahead of us at the pyramid", Swash replied. "The thing does not seem to be in perfect shape. There are cracks here and there. So, let's give it a little push", Clara Brickinson suggested. "Just a little push ..." "... and we'll be smiling." The statue came down with a crash. "That was easy." "That should be a solution to the worries of the good old Oleon Church", Ram concluded with a smile. "And we saved our bombs." "Let us forget about this place until tomorrow", Clara added. "I am still feeling tired and strange. My toes are too numb to step", Swash added but the others were not really listening as they moved on. (to be continued)
  11. Guided by what Rum'Or had told them, the mercenaries moved on deeper into the island. They stopped on a small mountain top, bedazzled by what had come into their sight: "What on earth is that?" Swash Buckler called out. "Looks like an ancient pyramid to me", Scarlett Pontellinova replied. "According to our friend here to the right, this might be dangerous", Clara Brickinson added. "But what is this black thing on top of it?" Ram Brandt asked. "We'll find out", Swash Buckler said. "We'll find out". (to be continued) ... [ESL - FB] Pontelli Beach Fun

In the summertime when the weather is hot you can find Pontelli's people going for a decent swim in the sea: Some people are buying over-priced cookies... .. some are challenged with their sandcastle... .... but life's for livin', that is their philosophy... Pls note the fashionable parasols. (inspired by Toskany where we found amazingly turqoise water at a wonderful beach - we assume some chalk to be the cause of the fantastic colour)
  13. Episode 1Episode 2Episode 3Episode 4Episode 5Episode 6Episode 7 Episode 8 Episode 9 Episode 10 Episode 11 Episode 12 Episode 13 Episode 14 - drumroll - Episode 15 - you are here. The battle on the beach raged on… … when suddenly the whole beach was filled with monkeys. Armed monkeys! Every human froze and and lowered their weapons. The overall scene was quite bizarre... Even Private Patton was cautious not to make a move Two monkeys grabbed the golden chest and dragged it along the beach Then the monkey on the dune addressed his audience. “Humans. You have come a long way in your strange pursuit of shiny things that have no real value.” “Your quest is over.” The monkey produced some shades out of nowhere “Would you please all look right here.” While the other monkeys were closing their eyes, all of the humans stared right into a blinding flash of light. The shaded monkey continued: “Ok, now that I have done the flashy thing, let us sort this thing out.” “Lady de Summer or rather Angelina Lancaster. You have fallen in love with Flynn Stewart. Both of you have worked out the secret of the models of the “Eight Provinces” – and each of your families had one model in their possession. You were destined to find the treasure together. When Flynn proposes to you, you will accept. You will share the treasure with him and Captain Cookie and pay a fair share to Captain Blofeld. And don’t forget Samuel Abacus without whom you would not have been able to dive down to the wreck.” “Flynn Stewart, you have fallen in love with Lady de Summer. She is as cunning and daring as you are. You will propose to her, marry her and the two of you will live an exciting life ever after.” “CaptainBlofeld. You will forget the treasure but you will fall for the wreck of the Eight Provinces. After bringing Angelina and Flynn home, you will return here to retrieve valuables from the wreck and open a tourist restaurant in the dunes. With the “Surprise” you will ferry the rich and noble to this site and you will in turn get rich by doing so.” “Brave Corrington soldiers. You have succeeded in your mission to capture the Highwayman. Unfortunately on your way home he fell overboard and was devoured by sharks. Still, your mission was a success you can be proud of and Sergeant Salt will be promoted to Lieutenant.” “Captain Cookie, you expert of cunningness and perfect disguises. We know what you did. You were too lazy to search and dive for the treasure yourself, you wanted the others to do the work for you. Well, you will use your part of the treasure to further improve your ship. And, of course, you will bury some of it on a far away island. And you will sail to Puerto Desafio to buy new cookies.” “And as for us, we have finally recovered the Bananarite that was lost with the “Eight Provinces” all those many years ago." “People may have thought there were no monkeys in this story. This is not true. We have always been involved. Right from the beginning, when the Bananarite was lost.” “Ok, everything settled? Before I forget, there was no flash of light, you were just looking at the sun for a second and, remember: there were no monkeys on this beach.” The beach emptied and the humans were on their own again Flynn Stewart: “Would you….” Angelina [beaming]: “Yes!!!” Captain Blofeld [to himself] “Why does this never happen to me?” Flynn: “Captain, will you…” Angelina: “… join us In marriage?” Captain Blofeld (blushes): “Certainly, certainly. Let us return to the Surprise for the ceremony.” ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And what was this all about? Captain Cookie stood on the dunes and looked down at the treasure of the Eight Provinces on the beach – in which nobody seemed interested at the moment. “Much ado about nothing”, he muttered to himself. “Too much monkey business. Speaking of animals, where is my parrot? The grand old Norwegian Blue?” The parrot was surely waiting for him in his cabin. His thoughts went back to the day, when Lady de Summer had given the parrot to him, many months ago. “Pretty bird”, he mumbled as he trotted away from the beach, “pretty bird.” (sound of waves and seagulls) THE END --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Many thanks to Kai and Garmadon who supported me in the making of this story and the corresponding MOCs. And to LovesHouses for feedback and English checking.

Episode 1Episode 2Episode 3Episode 4Episode 5Episode 6Episode 7 Episode 8 Episode 9 Episode 10 Episode 11 Episode 12 Episode 13 - you are here. They had found the wreck of the Eight Provinces! .. everyone on board the Surprise was excited! Lady de Summer was talking to Captain Blofeld: We need to be sure that we found the right wreck. So the Red Fandango took another dive... .. to confirm they were right! But there was a problem. The Red Fandango could dive deep enough to find the wreck - but by then it was time for him to get back to the surface or he would drown. "This is where I come in", Samuel Abacus said. "Open the small boxes that I brought along and you will find an apparatus that will allow deep diving missions." The Red Fandango opened the box to find a strange golden helmet inside. "Put it on", Samuel Abacus demanded. And it worked! Using a hose and two guys operating a pumping mechanism, the Red Fandango (or Flynn Stewart) was able to get to the bottom of the sea: .. and to explore the wreck and its surroundings... .. undeterred by the strange beings to be found living around the wreck... .. and he found that the silver he was looking for was scattered over the ocean floor - still looking shiny and new. So he started to collect the treasure of the Eight Provinces. (to be continued)
  15. Episode 1Episode 2Episode 3Episode 4Episode 5Episode 6Episode 7 Episode 8 Episode 9 Episode 10 Episode 11 Episode 12 Episode 13 Episode 14 - you are here. Flynn Stewart, the Highwayman was standing on a sunny and peaceful beach. With immense pleasure he realized that he had found an immense treasure. Lady de Summer and Captain Blofeld had wanted him to bring the treasure to the beach – so that the crew would not get any bad ideas. And there it was before him, after some days of hard work: The treasure of the “Eight Provinces”. Many silver ingots and a golden chest. “What can I do to have the treasure for myself?” he mused. “So what do we have here”, he heard a voice behind him. Lady de Summer had arrived, accompanied by Captain Blofeld. “You have found me a great treasure”, the Lady addressed Flynn Stewart. “This must be kept secret from the crew”, Captain Blofeld interjected. “This must be kept secret from everyone”, the Lady corrected. “But who knows exactly what we have found?” Flynn asked. “You can never be sure”, Lady de Summer replied. None of the three spent a thought of taking a deeper look at the strange palm tree that was growing in the dunes. Yes, Captain Cookie had arrived on the scene, listening in to every word they said. And he saw the treasure, all those silver ingots spread across the sand. “What can I do to have the treasure for myself?” he mused. "Freeze!”, a voice shouted. “Corrington Army speaking! You are arrested”, Colonel Greybeard yelled while running across the beach at full speed. Captain Blofeld: “I did not expect the Corrington Army”. Colonel Greybeard: “Nobody expects the Corrington Army. Our chief weapon is surprise. Surprise and fearlessness. Our two chief weapons, blimey, this is getting difficult…” Fighting broke out all along the no longer peaceful beach (yet still sunny). Colonel Greybeard: “Take this, old chum!“ Captain Blofeld parried without blinking. Captain Silvers was facing the Highwayman. Both went into a grinning duel. Lieutenant Stick was hesitant to join the battle on Silver’s side, the dunes were blocking his way. Sergeant Salt thought that dealing with the only woman on the beach would be an easy thing, but Lady de Summer produced a golden rapier seemingly out of nowhere and started her attack within a splitsecond . The clang of arms lay over the beach (not peaceful, but still very sunny). Private Patton was trying to figure out how to use the umbrella in battle… Captain Cookie drew his saber and - with a sigh - prepared himself to join the fierce fighting. In a first statement, Sally announced that Toktawoo (who had actually taken off his mask) will support her and Pontelli by handling external affairs. Also, Attorney Jon van Dyke will be responsible for jurisdictional affairs and such. Hip Hip Hooray!
  17. Citizens of Pontelli, please vote for the candidates: 1) Sergeant Diego Ramirez A more conservative candidate. Right forward player of the Pontelli Platfeet soccer team. 2) Toktawoo A good friend of Colonel Brickinson. 3) Swash Buckler One of the more daring citizens of Pontelli. Always smiling. 4) Smiling Sally Well, what can I say ... 5) Attorney Jon van Dyke A proud member of Pontelli's jurisdiction. Not the smiling type of guy... Please cast your votes until the end of this month. (Everyone in BoBS can assume the role of a Pontelli citizen and vote)

Captain Blofeld called up Lady de Summer: Mylady, there is something I need to tell you. Lady de Summer: About that red-dressed sailor of yours? I agree that he is one of the best in the crew and doing real well. Also he's kind of cute... Captain Blofeld (blushes) Captain Blofeld: No, Mylady. That is not what I want to talk about. Lady de Summer: Is it about the boxes that Samuel Abacus has placed all over the deck? They are quite disturbing. Captain Blofeld: No, Mylady. That is not what I want to talk about. Lady de Summer: So, what is it then? Captain Blofeld: You remember when we discussed our destination? And the course we would have to take? Lady de Summer: Yes, we were looking at my map. Captain Blofeld: Right, right. And I warned you that danger was lying ahead. Lady de Summer: Yes, you did. Captain Blofeld: Well, it says "Beware! Sea Monsters Behind This Point". This is actually where we are right now. The seed, it is sown, the curse, it is cast! Look out ahead, if you dare! In the calm of the sea, the signpost was clearly visible. Also the two sea monsters behind it. They smiled at the Surprise and Lady de Winter was grinning back at them. Lady de Summer: Well? And that is all? Captain Blofeld: Yes, Mylady. Lady de Summer: Then this just means that we are right on track. Captain Blofeld: Yes, Mylady. Lady de Summer: Captain? Captain Blofeld: Yes, Mylady? Lady de Summer: Get on with it. [ESL-FB] The Cliff of Pontelli

It was a bright day in Proud Pontelli. There were no signs of warning as to the dramatic events to follow. Asma April, Pontelli's self-appointed Mayor, was taking a stroll while talking to Colonel Brickinson. Asma: Colonel, tell me about the situation in my, erm, in our city. Brickinson: The mood is not very good at this point in time, Ma'am. Asma: My mood is great. No reason for anyone to feel bad. Brickinson: Well, the economy is not doing well, Ma'am. The ban on pets has led to a small increase in our fur production but that was not sustainable. With all of the cats absent, the mice population increased beyond imagination. The rodents have plundered our flour supplies. Bread prices have risen ridiculously. People are hungry. Many merchants are staying away from Pontelli now. And the army is not happy too. Asma: I have increased our army. Again no reason to feel unhappy. Brickinson: Well, the soldiers have not been paid. Look at the sourly faces of your personal guards, if you want proof. Asma: They should feel honoured to serve me. What is mere payment against this honour? Brickinson: In any case, Pontelli's treasury is empty. We cannot invest in anything anymore. I hate to break it to you but we are broke, Asma: Luckily, my modest Mayor muneration has allowed me to keep a few coins. Asma: So, Brickinson, you are bringing no good news? Brickinson: I am sorry, Ma'am. Asma: Well, you better should be. I can see it now. This is your fault. You have been plotting against me. Brickinson: I beg your pardon (notices something on the ground) Asma (thinking): He is standing right next to the cliffside. Just a little push to get rid of my enemy - forever! (raising her arms she starts to run towards Brickinson) Then things happen very fast. Brickinson bows to pick up what he has seen on the ground. ... and Asma April stumbles over him... and her impulse catapults her over the side of the cliff! THUD Brickinson looks up again, wondering what has just happened... the others stand shocked. They go to the side to look... And then they realize that it is over. Suddenly there is hope again in Pontelli. In Free Pontelli.

Well, despite the Corries' optimism throughout the "light breeze" they had gone through, by the time it was over everyone was force to admit the obvious fact - they were entirely lost. The good news was that it didn't make much of a difference, because the waters had become so calm and the wind mostly died out, so they were hardly going anywhere anyways, so they had plenty of time to think up a plan and find out where they were. After a while, though, the calm started to weigh down the spirits of the whole crew. They were, in short, in the dumps, the blues, and the doldrums all in one. Suddenly, an eye appeared out of the blue, the dumps, and the doldrums (sorry, just the blue...) Everyone was a bit startled, and the Major jumped up into the rigging and insisted on staying there until the thing was gone. And by the way, if you happen to be wondering about the hole in the sail, that was what happened when Sergeant Salt had fired his pistol through the sail in the excess of his delight in episode nine. But I digress... Colonel Greybeard: Dash me buttons, now what is this?! Have you ever seen anything like it? Before anyone could say anything, though, the sea erupted, with eyes and tentacles everywhere. One of the monster's many tentacles grabbed onto a private's musket. Everything was tense silence for a moment as nobody moved a muscle... (Except for Lieutenant Stick, who had grabbed the boom for dear life as soon as the first tentacle appeared, and didn't make another motion throughout the whole ordeal - except that his teeth were chattering violently the whole time, though he would never admit it afterwards.) Suddenly Ensign Silvers, who had been smiling the whole time, leapt up and took the musket from the private. With a quick and surreptitious movement he swapped the musket for his umbrella in half a split second, and the tentacle, apparently happy with its gains, took the umbrella and returned to the sea. Everyone cheered as the monster returned to the deep, and Colonel Greybeard instantly decided to promote the Ensign to a captain then and there. In the excitement nobody had noticed that the Major's horse had disappeared, but the Major mourned for it for three days afterwards... To be continued... Another build from me for this storyline before I hand it back over the Captain B next week. If the pictures aren't the greatest, well, I was still trying to figure out this camera here I think I've got it fairly mastered by now after a couple other photography sessions, though Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome as always!

But the Corries' hopes for a quick chase and smooth sailing were bound to be overturned - instead they got something which most of them liked even more, a stiff and stormy northeastern gale. The little, overcrowded sloop sped through the water at an incredibly rate, and everyone was in quite capital spirits. Sergeant Salt even put a hole through the sail with his pistol by accident in the excess of his delight. The Marshal (and his horse) stood at the bow of the little boat, taking in the exhilarating and charged sea air as the sloop dashed through the waves. ...And then it started to rain. And rain, and rain. It was a torrential downpour before long, and all the soldiers and officers were drenched, but they were still in good spirits, despite the fact that they had lost sight of the highwayman and the Surprise some time since. Plus, Ensign Silvers found something useful stowed away at the bottom of the boat... To be continued... A last overview: There you have it! My build for this episode of the story, and this one was really a blast - had lots of fun watching it take shape, and was really happy with how it turned out. Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome as always!

  25. Episode 1 Episode 2 Episode 3 Episode 4 Episode 5 Episode 6 Episode 7 - here you are. And so all of the Corries had ended up in the water (well, some were still on there way, but they were working on it). Colonel Greybeard, however, was not ready to give up. "I'm not to be duped, troop! Look, I spy a sloop!" And so saying, he swam quickly to the sloop resting beside the quay nearby, and clambered on board, followed by his men. Sergeant Salt and a private leaped off the dock as the Colonel trimmed the sail and started moving after the escaping ship, but just then a horseman behind them bellowed out, "Jolly Molly, Colonel Greybeard, my old fellow, is that you? What is the rush, by good chap, if I may make so bold as to ask, mayhap?" Colonel Greybeard turned and saw his old mate in military school, Marshall Shallmall. "We're after that scoundrel of a highwayman, mate, and I have no doubt we'll catch him soon going at this rate! They've got a head start, men and mice, but 'tis no great shakes!" "Got room for one more old messmate?" inquired the Marshall, and without waiting for an answer, he and his horse leapt bodily over the quay's barrier and into the water, almost smashing poor Lieutenant Stick to powder. "Oh dear," exclaimed the latter - and even the bubbly Sergeant Salt looked a wee bit concerned as the Marshall and his horse clambered on board. From the shore they heard the sloop's owner - also the head of the Eslandolan Furniture and Goods Moving Co.'s branch in Cocovia - calling out, "Wait, wait! My boat!" - but by this time they were well on there way. And besides, Colonel Greybeard had all of Corrington's commandeer laws down pat... In the background a WTC soldier sneaked off with a crate of important goods. ... To be continued... Obviously a variation of my last build for this series, although it's got a good deal of new material in there as well. And before anybody says anything: yep, I do think that red roof does stand out a bit too much Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!
