  1. Hello everybody! I thought it would be interesting to know which ten unlicensed Lego sets you want to be re-designed, e. g. as Icons / "Lego Moments" sets. So please share! Here are mine: 6399 Airport Shuttle (Town) (likely with rollercoaster tracks) 6383 Public Works Center (Town) 6391 Cargo Center (Town) 6987 Message Intercept Base (Space - Blacktron) 493 Space Command Centre (Space - Classic Space) 6989 Mega Core Magnetizer (Space - M-Tron) 1906 Majisto's Tower (Castle - Dragonmasters) 6274 Caribbean Clipper (Pirates) 6277 Imperial Trading Post (Pirates) 6479 Emergency Response Centre (RES-Q) And what about yours?

    [ENTRY] Eldorado Bastion

Hi again, here is my second take on the 90s bluecoats, as entry for the pirate contest. In my opinion the Eldorado Fortress lacks in defence so I thought they should add a bastion on a close Island to defend the Fortress to Pirates and even the Redcoat Fleet or the Imperial Fleet. So present to you the Eldorado Bastion: The bastion is heavily armed withe 3 static and 2 rotating cannons on towers. I used the famous baseplate but I wanted to break the rectangular shape wit the pier and the towers. The Bastion can hold amunition in its center and has some supplies, ready to load on the Caribbean Brig on the ramp and dock. The admiral and frech soldiers are waiting for the arrival of Governor Broadside. A small crane is ready load the cargo. Here I added some shots with both sets combined (Eldorado Bastion + Caribbean Brig): There are some more pictures in the Flickr-Album. Everybody shoud think twice if he sails close to the Bastion and the Caribbean Brig! I hope you like my very classic take on these two contest entrys, here you can find Caribbean Brig. There should be only old parts, available in the classic pirates eras. Good luck everyone, I hope I find some time to stumble through all the new creations and contest entrys!
  5. Hi there! Phew, the Caribbean Brig closely made it in time into port to enter the contest! (for category New LEGO Pirate set from the 90s era) Although the hourglas on the webpage seems broken, my Kalender still states 25th august so the deadline should not be closed! I present you the Carribbean Brig: (the ship I saw in the official caribbean clipper, though it was way to small to be the flagship of Gov. Broadside!) UPDATE (for full Infos see my latest comment) Old Topic Entry: It is a fully square rigged brig, proudly sailing the seven seas in search for Captain Redbeard. It is equipped with 3 Cannons on the main deck. Two of them are the feared royal cannons (in blue). The lower deck is fully equipped with 6 cannons, 3 for each side. The stern has 2 cannons as well, which can be swiveled. When you remove the last bit of the handrail, these cannons can rotato fully to the sides, but I would let this modification to the kids themeselfes, as I did when I was young. I am a bit late to the contest, so there is not much time for criticism and changing something, but I created some slighly different sterns with 1 or two flextubes. (Please give some feedback, even when the contest deadline has passed, it is always interesting!) The maindeck is removable and the sides of the cabin can be opened: This gives a better look in the cabin, as well: The figurehead is a small dragon: The anchor and the crane have working winches for play. Check the Flickr-Album for more pics! I hope you like it and to fully upgrade the blucoat set wave, I build the Eldorado Bastion as well. Both can be combined well, check it out here: Eldorado Bastion All the best and good luck to all contestants, there are already so many marvellous builds. The new Eldorado Fortress and the contest really brought back old pirates in the forum and some new sailors as well! Awesome!

    GAIA-72 TERRAFORMING STATION

Hello, this is my latest Classic Space project, enjoy. You still love Classic Space, but you want more than just remakes of Classic Space sets? You want something new, fresh, never seen before? Here´s your opportunity to promote new futuristic designs for space sets. GAIA-72 TERRAFORMING STATION, is a dome base fully enclosed with everything the space explorers need to survive extraterrestrial environments. Its composed of a 1200 piece dome base (roughly the same amount of pieces of 10497) and a 1100 piece launch port. A perfect addition to any Classic Space collection. If you like it, give it your support and let's hope we can have this on store shelves soon.

Galaxy Explorer 10497 is a great set, but...

Let's stablish something before I start typing. I love 10497 and I think it pays homage to the 1979 version. So I'm not saying it was bad, but it could be epic. Here are some highlights to prove my point. 1.- Too many G.E. redesign MOCs. I´ve seen maybe a hundred Galaxy Explorer remakes in the last 5 years, but I saw one in particular reviewed in a youtube channel, before they released the 10497, which had almost the same features and even had retractable landing gear. So for me the 10497 is the perfect Galaxy Explorer MOC. But was something we been seeing for years. 2.- "Too small" remake. 1245 pieces is a lot of pieces for a set, but, if you compare that amount of pieces with 10305 Lion´s Knight castle's 4514 pieces castle "remake", it feels short. Imagine what the designer would be capable of if he had those 3250+ pieces to work with? 3.- Landing pad and base. The achiles heel of 10497. The ship design is magnificent, However, even the designer of the set stated that he had to leave out the base and landing pad. A true shame. 500 more pieces and two 48 x 48 baseplates would made a world of diference. 4.- New trans yellow pieces. We already had a large 13252 trans yellow windscreen from 70816 Bennys spaceship..... also all the other trans yellow pieces in the set had been released previously. Something Classic Space fans are always looking for are new elements in trans yellow color, since is rare Lego Group uses them in sets and even more rare realeases new ones. Let's be honest here, wouldn't you like the set even better if there were 1x4x3 panels or a large curved windscreen never before released in trans yellow? 5.- Shock and Awe factor. The helper droid was a great add on and the best option they had since benny already used the other type of 80s droid. The rocket sleds were a shock and awe add on to the original ship. So I have nothing against those new features, but it could be even more features in it. Ever felt butterflies when entering the toy isle at your local walmart or Kmart back in the 80s the first weeks of january? You didn't knew what to expect form the new Classic Space sets back in the good old days. New features, new designs, new pieces.... That's the problem with the 10497, you already had a prelimilar idea of what to expect and that was the main problem with 10497, I feel the base had more potential to include new features than the spaceship itself: Retractable dome roof landing pad, modular base, maintenance machinery, loading-unloading crane, new color astronaut, minifig, a small blacktron spy vehicle, I can go on. Bottom line, 10497 is a great Lego set, but knowing what Lego designers are capable of creating, it could be even more awesome.

    KAPPA NOTCH COMPLEX

Another Classic Space Lego Ideas project. This time is White Classic Space/Futuron Color Scheme. Kappa Notch Complex is a Space Base nestled between mountains, It´s composed of several modules or rooms connected internaly by corridors dug into the rocky mountains around a large rocket silo housing a two stage rocket designed to take a satelite into orbit in new colonizing planets. Lab, telecommunications, control panel, infirmary are among the fuctions of the modular rooms of the base. It also features a vehicle hangar and landing pad among the features of the base. NOTE: I updated the base by adding a Space Police rover and Blacktron speeder. The upgrades will be added to Lego Ideas in a month. 10. Hi everyone, Creator and Classic are themes that are targeted at people who want to build and rebuild their sets over and over again. In order to chose the right set that suits your needs, I created a tool that simply takes the rebrickable inventory and plots it as a histogram. Instead of explaining all the details, here's an example output for a Classic and a Creator set. Classic - 11033 - Creative Fantasy Universe Creator - 31132 - Viking Ship and the Midgard Serpent Since not all types and colors of bricks are as useful to others as they are for me, I will not write any recommendations or ratings of the sets. However, if you point out any interesting facts, I can add these to the individual graphs. Let me know if you are interested in such diagrams. I will then upload the graphs for all the 2023 sets from these themes.

  16. Somewhere in the midst of the Brick Seas... One will find a place where parrots, monkeys, sea rats and traders all live together in harmony under the protection of the code [more of a guideline really] ; Captain K; Hey! How come we never find any hidden treasures anymore and never take anyone's ship! I thought we were signing up to the pirate faction? We had more fun taking bluecoat-booty during the Terraversan war. Lothario Fraunces; We are sea rats; and you lot signed up to the Fraunces command. Therefore, take notice: we are more than mere unintelligent sea-robbers, we gather & build, we store & we trade; it is called capitalism! Pure and simple. See it as upgraded stealing! Did none of ye read Smith? Lefeau; 'Who?' Lothario Fraunces; Silence you unwashed baboon! Now gather round and hear us out; I believe New Nassau to be the perfect place to enhance our operations around these waters. The seas are bubbling with war and the supply steams grow greater everyday. If we can't overprice our goods to needy colonist, another warring faction will bid even more for our mostly fair-begotten booty. With all the employed Sea Rats gathered, Fraunces enlightened his henchmen on how to proceed. The meeting was held deep under the fortress, in his personal wine cellar. This is also the place where the most valuable goods are stored safe behind bars.. The fortress on top serves as a fortified Sea Rat trading hub and black market exchange site, strategically build between the Sereen Cay and the secret rovers hideout in the new seas, Black Rock. On top of the old rudder of the sunken Octopus I, plans are drafted to take advantage of the seas while the other factions wage war against more uninteresting factions. Suddenly; a crackling sound disturbs the marketing-pitch; Pirate Lefeau; 'Why is that wall moving? Who's there?' Lothario Fraunces; That's a small trick of ours. This fortress is via a secret cave network connected to all our mayor hubs in this town. In case of an attack you know, or if we need to move peculiar items around.. So don't hang it on the high clock! Captain K, I believe this is one of your crewmates just arriving now from the docks bringing my long-awaited invitation to join the Sea Rat of the Year Award in 623! This fortress is of commercial interest to the Fraunces Family; it is a long awaited house for serious trade for the free merchants who are passing through. The builders where compensated for their troubles with double rations of grog. The result is most impressive: The El Barro Fortress: rum barrels from all winds being brought in, musicians come and play in the central square, high-dining on top of the entrance tower, the Sea Rat flag waiving smoothly in the wind, all a buccaneer can ask for. More pictures here matey; And yes, ofcourse heavily influenced by a childhood favorite: the famous bluecoat Eldorado Fortress. Hope you like my pirate-adaptation.

    GALAXY DROPSHIP, NEO CLASSIC SPACE

Hello. The release of the new Galaxy Explorer and the new Blacktron Invader proves Lego Group is open to design new versions of 80s space sets. This is our best option for a second Classic Space Lego Ideas set. The Galaxy Dropship. It combines all the features of the Galaxy Explorer and Galaxy Commander, plus many others in a single base. The project already has reached more than 5400 support votes and it has a bit less than a year to reach its goal. This project was designed by Giorgio Chronas. Please support it and his other Lego Designs at Lego Ideas. Link: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/bcc52725-df48-4522-aeee-a34dba13889a Please support the return of Classic Space.
  18. Some members here had probably heard that months ago, I submitted a piece pack on Lego Ideas as a project and was rejected. However, I’m not here to discuss about if Lego Ideas decision was right or not, but to explain why I did this in the first place and how this can be sustained. On Reddit someone asked about this pack and I replied. “The idea for the petition for a Classic Space piece pack was on the believe that many Classic Space fans have over 40 years of collecting pieces and also have enough pieces to build complex designs on their own, so a piece pack would be a great gift for hardcore Classic Space fans to continue designing new Neo-Classic Space creations on their own…” Classic Space sets have at least 3 big color schemes to be known. Light gray/black/trans green, white/black/trans blue and what most fans consider the true C. S. blue/light grey/trans yellow. The white/black/trans blue is widely consider to be Futuron color scheme rather than Classic Space although it was used widely on the later years of that theme. Also, the number of trans blue pieces is larger than the trans yellow ones since it has been wider used in other Lego themes such as aquanauts, town space, and even Minecraft. Let’s face it. One of the biggest limitations for Neo Classic Space Mocs are the existing Trans yellow pieces available. You also have the space logo pieces and other limitations, but for what I’ve seen and heard. Every time a new trans yellow piece have been found on new Lego publications, the C. S. community goes nuts. For instance, how many people here know (or even care) that Lego has never made the 1x12 plate in blue color, but if I told you that minifig legs and arms in Trans Yellow color exist you’ll probably will rush to Bricklink to corroborate the last part. Die hard C.S. fans usually have a Lego Collection spanning four decades consisting of thousands of pieces. So, for them, a new window or windscreen in trans yellow is worth its weight in gold. I know you can get around the piece limitation problem by combining pieces, but a single piece windscreen solves any probable stability problems. The question is, Classic Space fans will consider a C.S. (trans yellow) Piece Pack good enough to be as good as a new Classic Space set? For me, the answer is YES! Maybe will not be as cool as a new professional Lego space set design, but it will expand my posibilities to create Classic Space MOCs.

    COSMIC HORIZON RESEARCH BASE

A couple of months ago, I share images of a personal project for a Classic Space piece pack. I send it to Lego Ideas and was rejected. So I designed in around 4 days a space design using all those pieces at once. This is a space lab base with a internal rocket launching platform. The rocket is manned and can hold a minifig inside, Includes a vehicle and a spacecraft. Please help me by supporting this base. We need more cool classic space designs and make Classic Space as great as in the 80s. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/72fff146-8452-4118-889c-72d5a879b235
  20. A classic-style dump truck model with BuWizz. Features drive, steering, dumping, V6 piston engine, and working headlights and taillights. Functions/features: Drive Steering Dumping Working headlights and taillights Oscillating rear axle Opening doors and hood V6 piston engine Instructions available on Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-125516/JLiu15/classic-dump-truck/#details This model was originally conceived as a MOC I would make with the sets and parts I got at BrickFair VA. My initial plan was to make it in lime, as one of the sets I got was the 42138 Mustang and that one had most of the lime parts I would need. I have not made many lime MOCs due to not having that many lime pieces, so this felt like another good opportunity to make a lime MOC. However, I could not help but feel that green would be a strange color for a dump truck, so I then changed the cab color to red. My initial finished design in Stud.io had a red cab and dark bluish gray cargo hold. I also tried a white cab with black cargo hold and rims, but felt that an orange cab and black cargo hold with white rims and accents was the best color scheme to go with. I decided to use BuWizz to control the model despite it not being made for speed - due to the smaller scale, it would be difficult to fit both a battery box and SBrick so using a BuWizz which has battery/control all in one unit was the best option. The model is built very compact - the drive and cargo hold elevation motors (both PF L motors) are placed side by side, and the PF Servo motor for steering is placed directly below the cab to leave room for the fake engine. Unfortunately, due to the small size of the model and the oscillating rear axle, there isn't much room for reinforcement (there's only one pair of beams going over the oscillating rear axle) so the chassis tends to bend. I was concerned that the chassis would bend too much as the cargo hold elevates due to the forces exerted on the end of the chassis, but fortunately it didn't seem to be much of an issue in the finished model. As for the functionality, I decided to take advantage of BuWizz's 4 speed modes to adjust the power supplied to the motors and LEDs. While the model is not that big, it does pack quite a punch when driving in ludicrous mode. And because I'm not using the power-hungry RC motors, there's no issues with power cutting out. The LEDs are also brighter on fast and ludicrous modes, which I like. The oscillating rear axle worked very well on slightly rough terrain as seen in the video - the only downside is the ground clearance as the L motors for drive and dumping sit pretty low in the chassis. There weren't any issues with chassis reinforcement either despite my concerns. I was also concerned that the Servo motor being connected to the steering mechanism via a CV and U-joint would lead to excess play in the system (as the Servo motor is not placed directly next to the steering mechanism due to the space the fake engine takes up), but steering always functioned properly without any major issues. Overall, the small size of this model and the use of BuWizz made all the functions work very smoothly. It did not take long for me to finish the virtual model in Stud.io and the building process is straightforward, but this MOC still turned out to take longer than anticipated. I ordered most of the parts I needed in a single Pick A Brick order so I can avoid buying from multiple Bricklink sellers, but because my order consisted of all "standard" parts, it took over a month for me to receive it. My order was also on "In Warehouse" status longer than usual. In retrospect I should have ordered all the parts for this model from Bricklink if I wanted to finish it earlier, but being able to order all my parts in a single order was definitely convenient. Overall, while the functionality turned out pretty well for this model, it was still a project I felt that I started too hastily. I had to modify the virtual build several times (including three color changes) before starting the build IRL. A number of features had to be included (there's no interior due to the BuWizz unit taking up most of the interior space), but I am still happy about being able to include a fake engine at this scale. This was also my first MOC to use multiple pairs of PF LEDs - after getting one pair in late 2013 I always wanted to get a few more but never had a MOC where I thought of including multiple PF LEDs. Last summer I got a set of PF/WeDo elements from a friend which included two pairs of PF LEDs. This MOC felt like a good opportunity to use them as I used PF elements with no power-hungry RC motors. The amount of electronic elements in such a small model (3 motors and 3 pairs of LEDs) meant a lot of wiring to manage, but I was able to get the wires to all fit nicely inside the model. Video: Photos:
  21. A new project I started working on. It'll be a model of a classic dump truck, with a pickup truck style body and two axles. It'll be something similar to the following: https://www.thedrive.com/news/33102/ive-already-been-humbled-by-my-55-year-old-ford-dump-truck So far I've only done some preliminary Stud.io modeling, but I already have a general idea for the cab. The model will feature a lime green cab with a gray or black dump bed, two axles with pendular suspension, and BuWizz (not for speed, but to save space as the battery/controller are all in one unit), a fake engine with mini cylinders under the opening hood, and lights. I'll either use the tires from the 42122 Jeep or the the tire/rim combination from the 10279 VW Camper Van and 10290 Pickup Truck. I've wanted to make a lime MOC for a while now (haven't made one since my CLAAS Challenger 95E MOC from 2018). I've expanded my collection of lime pieces a bit after getting the 42138 Mustang set at BrickFair this year, so I decided to make at least the cab for this model in lime. I'm definitely planning to further expand my lime collection in the future, especially with pieces from the 42115 Lamborghini Sian set. Photos:

    CLASSIC SPACE PIECE PACK

For those Classic Space fans here, if you could make a direct request to Lego Group what would be? Maybe the restoration of one of the Space theme, maybe a remake of one of the iconic set releases of the era. Those are great requests and wouldn't mind any of those, but in my case like in most AFOLs, we design and build our own sets. For that I've been conducting polls on Lego groups about which new color pieces would you want Lego to make and so far I came with this group. Think about it, a Lego piece pack with new color elements to build Neo Classic Space sets. This is what I´ve come with so far. What piece you think I'm missing?

    Blacktron Droid Factory Lego Ideas

Back in the 90s I used to think the Message Intercept Base was a Futuron Base diguised as a Blacktron one. Many times I thought how it would look a true Blacktron1 Base. So I designed this project and make something more "mean" more "rebelious" a base with modules which could be used both as rooms in the base and also as parts of vehicles or ships. I wanted to take the interlocking modular concept used by Lego on the Blacktron 1 sets to a new level and giving a fresh look to the retro space subtheme. Also give them droids which actual look like automata units for different purposes like spy units or guards. Enjoy it and if you like it, give it support. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/0f9caab4-1d4a-4207-ae82-60b6cc8b61d9
