    Yellow Intakes 12

Yellow Intakes 12 by WSM, on Flickr I've showcased this build at the Beleef Lego Dagen event, and now it's also on Eurobricks! It's a yellow spaceship. It took me about two weeks to build - that means, i started two weeks ago, stopped building, then started over this weekend before the event. That doesn't mean i didn't put any effort into it though. I had to redesign the entire body to make it more sturdy, which i've done succesfully. The build is also modular, you can take various parts of the ship off so it is easier to transport, and it also fits a minifig. I wouldn't swoosh it still, cause then the wings fall off. But it looks cool though! One photo definitely doesn't do this ship justice, that's why i've posted lots more to Flickr. ;)
  4. Hi everyone! I've recently rediscovered my passion for Lego and Lego Classic Space in particular. As a child I played hours and hours with my LL 928 (which I still have!) and the rest of my space sets like the Mega Core Magnetize and such. I can fondly remember the countless times created my own designs and swooshed them proudly through the room trying not to step on the loose bricks on the floor ;-). And of all the sets I own from my childhood the LL 928 is the one that is engraved in my memory as being the most fun and iconic of them all. Recently my mother gave me a box with all my lego bricks from when I was young and the first thing that I wanted to rebuild was, sure enough, my Galaxy Explorer. And I did! It might look a bit scuffed in some places but I didn't care, this one was mine! All the little scratches on it represent the fun I had with it ;-) Immediately after that I went on the Lego website to see if they had something like that in their vast collection on offer... and while I did buy Benny's Spaceship and had a great time building it I couldn't see myself tearing it apart to build something new or even just add stuff on to make it look even better. Now, don't get me wrong, Benny's Spaceship is great but it's too fixed in what it is. It was time for me too try and do something about it and I started designing my own new versions of the LL 918, 924 and 928. Sadly, I don't own a vast number of bricks but that's were LDD came in! And now, they're finished! (except for the LL 918 redesign, I'm still working on that little ship). First up is my LL 930 Galaxy Explorer! It's a pretty standard build, not too difficult but still fun. The goal was that any child from around 6 years should be able to build it him/herself with minimum help from dad or mom ;-). It takes some styling cues from Benny's Spaceship and from the original Galaxy Explorer to make it instantly recognizable. There are a few "hidden" compartments, one for the "engine bay" and one is a storage compartment. The cargo bay features a science station and room for the rover. It is not jampacked with weapons on purpose. Benny's ship was too battle oriented to my liking so I set the timeframe of all my ships after Lord Business was defeated and space exploration could resume as normal. Total brick count is 770. Then there's my LL 925 Mk3 Light Reconnaissance Spaceship! (I know, the name is to long...) As you can see it's much smaller but retains a lot of details. My first version was without a ramp but someone pointed out that the rover had now way of getting in the ship so I added one. The total brick count is around 300. Let me know what you think about it! If you like my ideas and would like to see them in your nearest Lego Store then please vote for them on Lego Ideas! LL 925 LL 930 Thanks in advance! Olivier V

    [MOC] Planet OSWION Expedition

A team of astronauts explore several planets to find new/unknown ores. The astronauts discovered a new planet, ‘’OSWION’’. They build a space station, which contains a Intergalactic Communications Tower, Planetary Observation Centre, a power plant, a research and observation compound, Landing platforms for spaceships. The astronuts build a monorail to transport the containers easily. The astronauts use their vehicles to explore the planet and dig ores and energy crystals. The space ships and vehicles are modular, you can easy rebuild them by swapping and combining the components. Every mission need it’s own vehicle. Some buildings, like the power plant and Intergalactic Communications Tower, are motorized by Power Functions. At the left side of the layout, a large portal is build to enter planet OSWION. The light in the protal is EL wire. It took 11 month's to build the layout. The Viridescent Viper by mpoh98, on Flickr Hey All! Well, I decided to join in Nnovvember. :) Built this little Vic Viper last night, what fun! I had a blast building it, and stickering it as well. Some areas were a pain to get the sticker to be exactly right (for example on the 2 front wings, I put 4 tiny olive-green stickers over the cracks), but the end result was satisfying. I had a lot of fun building this Vic Viper for Nnovvember, and hope to next year as well! 9. I've been working on these a while, waiting for Benny's SPACESHIP to be released. Now that I have Benny's ship, I can start building the rest of his fleet, which should include 2 fighters, 1 freighter, 1 escort cruiser, 1 Command Cruiser, 1 hover car, plus the space station. Now on to the pics! LL929 "Cosmic Explorer" (AKA Benny's Spaceship x3!) Built in 2012-13 for the Classic Space Supreme Commander, Benny the 1980-something space guy. It came equipped with a pocket for Unikitty during the Battle for Octan Tower. After the battle, this pocket was removed. (Unikitty turned down Benny's offer for a commission to Classic Space command, and has set out as a director actor in Movies & TV. See her latest film, "Johnny Thunder & the Temple of Gloom" for more info.) The area was replaced with a canopy for the crew to see outside from their stations near the Imagination Reactor. This ship in it's original form (plus it's pilot Benny and his friends) are featured in The LEGO Movie. Ship Name: Cosmic Explorer Owner: Classic Space Command Model: LL929 “Voyager” class Command Cruiser Manufacturer: Classic Space Shipyards Engines: 3 Mega Imagination Reactors Max Speed: 5,100 MPH Max Hyper Speed: 0.8 past light speed Other Modifications include: bumblebee stripes, longer wings, removed wing flaps & spring shooters, plus I added two more computers under the former skylight. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1401734951m.lxf NOTE: The file above is based on the one in the "Offiical LEGO sets made in LDD topic" by EB user "Canticleer blues". He built the file I modified. Galaxy class Deep-Space Fighter These ships escort Benny on his missions, most recently on the search for George the 1970-something space guy, Benny's predecessor and friend. The small ships proved vital when they had to search the debris field of George's ship... or what was left of it. Owner: Classic Space Command Model: “Galaxy” class deep space fighter Manufacturer: Classic Space Shipyards Engines: 2 Imagination Reactors Max Speed: 3,400 MPH Max Hyper Speed: 0.5 past speed of light LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1415380096m.lxf Gamma class Freighter Originally bought from M-Tron Corporation in 1989 as discarded designs for what eventually became the 1990 Particle Ionizer, the Gamma class freighter is the one of slowest hyper-drive equipped vehicles in the Classic space Command fleet. It features 2 of the smallest (and slowest) hyper-engines ever built, and can carry up to 45 astro-tons of freight. The Gamma class features three smaller cargo holds capable of holding smaller lose cargo (such as mail or parcels), while the bigger pressurized hold can hold anything from a carbon-frozen human to a couple dozen alien eggs, all the way up to a medium sized machinery. Owner: Classic Space Command Model: “Gamma” class freighter Manufacturer: Classic Space Shipyards Engines: 2 Mini Imagination Reactors Max Speed: 2,550 MPH Max Hyper Speed: 0.4 past light speed LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1401664595m.lxf Micro - scale Benny's Spaceship + Classic Space Satellite First off, the Benny's spaceship micro build was inspired by Pepa Quin and his Iron Builder "Comarade Benny" model, (link: https://www.flickr.c...s-55973205@N08/ ) while the satellite was built from a LDD starter model from 2011. Background: The famous Benny the 1980-something space guy is investigating a mysterious signal coming from a region of space beyond our galaxy cluster. The radio signal was accidentally picked up by a satellite listening for possible Blacktron communiques. It is a 16 billion year old signal, which means it is older than the universe itself! Benny will have to find a way to get to the signal emitter, and he may just have a way: a certain blue box and it's owner! LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1415551572m.lxf Pi class Hover Car Originally intended as a high society transport, this ship design was stolen by another manufacturer and famously featured in the 2002 film Star Wars Episode II "Attack of the Clones". The company that made them first almost gave up until it sold one to then-unknown blue 1980's spaceman named Benny. Benny then used this car to shuttle himself to his work and secret master builder meetings, and eventually to his SPACESHIP(!)'s hanger after the end of Octan Corporation hostilities. The ship was not featured in the film made about those events, but nonetheless was seen in the studio parking lot as Benny drove it to play himself in the movie. It currently is stationed on the planet Zonia, where Benny (along with all the other Classic Spacemen) lives. Owner: Classic Space Command Model: “Pi” class hover car Manufacturer: Classic Space Shipyards Engines: 1 Mini Imagination Reactor Max Speed: 1,275 MPH Max Hyper Speed: (N/A) LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1401665607m.lxf NOTE: This ship originally was half of Star Wars set 7133, Bounty hunter Pursuit. Epsilon II space base The legendary 1970-something space guy, (also known as George) opened the Epsilon II Base in 1986, just in time for the Great Divide of 1987. (also known as the formation of the Blacktron) They made their base on the nearby ice world of Imperium and threatened to invade Epsilon II. The classic base was put on lock-down as George waited to receive an order of heavily armored and armed Exo-suits. (However that ship was intercepted by an unknown force and crashed on a world in a far-off uncharted sector of the galaxy.) George's situation back on Epsilon II soon became desperate as the supposed time of arrival for the Exo-suits came and went. Blacktron soon surrounded the world, drawing ever closer to the lone outpost and it's large fuel dump. By 1991 however, the Space Police had been formed and routed the nearby Blacktron stronghold of Imperium. The remaining siege fleet of Blacktron ships fled to the Galactic Deep Core to lick their wounds. The first Classic Space ship that landed on Epsilon in four years was commanded by a young Benny, who was sent to relieve the original commander George as he was retiring to a small lunar outpost. Benny has since been given fame in the LEGO Movie and the honorary title of 1980-something space guy. The base has been updated to feature two smaller landing pads and one large one for Benny's spaceship. (The statue is this mini-figure from 2009: http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?M=sp103 ) The modified set 70816 (Benny's ship) and two cruisers are included in the LDD file. The submodels are grouped for your benefit, though one substitution is needed: the two 32 x 32 baseplates are meant to be these parts instead: http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=3947a . LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1415559668m.lxf Here is a some-what related build of something used at the space base: Octan Fuels hover - tanker This OCTAN truck is on the smaller end of hover tankers. It can carry Nitros oxide, propane, rocket-grade gasoline, liquid nitrogen, plutonium, oil, and other fuels. Inspired by Bricksky's alternate build of set 60016: https://www.flickr.com/photos/tylersky/13598270465/in/faves-55973205@N08/ This model is made up mostly of that set's parts, with some additions. These include the following printed part: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3068bpb018 for the front 2x2 tile between the lights. This OCTAN tanker has three engines: two sub-light and one hyper drive. (in the middle) LDD file: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1398109113m.lxf Questions, comments, & complaints welcome! EDIT 11/7/14: Added more pictures and fixed categories. EDIT 11/9/14: re-Added Epsilon II space base and micro - scale models, plus the Octan tanker.

    MOCs: Small spaceship and rovers

Hi everyone, haven't had a chance to do any new MOCs, thought I would post some I did quite a while back. These all use very basic techniques, as I am still learning. Would love to know how you would do things differently (e.g. I feel the MR-401 vehicles should have been wider with a lower centre of gravity). Thanks. :) LL-459 Stellar Observation Craft (SOC): Equipped with Doppler Shift detection gear, cargo pod, and StarShield Technology (Mk I). StarShield protects pilot by blocking up to 75% of unexpected outbursts of stellar energy and radiation. More photos: https://www.flickr.c...57627812233645/ MR-301 Soil Analyzer: Used for scientific analysis of a planet's topsoil. Equipped with soil scooper, camera, and a mid-range data transceiver. More photos: https://www.flickr.c...57625766182882/ MR-401a Supply Transport: A short haul vehicle used to transport supplies between outposts. The supply container typically holds commonly used tools and equipment. More photos: https://www.flickr.c...57625760483863/ MR-401b Outpost Patrol Vehicle (OPV): A military variant of the MR-401a Supply Transport, the MR-401b OPV features thicker rear wheel guards and a reinforced driver's cage. Armaments consist of a roof-mounted auto-track missile launcher and a rear-mounted dual laser cannon platform. Not suited for intensive combat, OPVs were generally used to provide security for small outposts during the Pre-Blacktron days. More photos: https://www.flickr.c...57625760521439/

Benny's Spaceship - Film vs. Set

Hello fellow EB'rs, I'm a huge fan of both Classic Space and TLM, as well as a nut for screen-accurate props. The Lego Movie of course makes building props from the film even more exciting. Anyway... a lot of the sets in the film are scaled up (especially the Sea Cow), however Benny's spaceship is pretty much identical in the film and in the produced set - though there are a few slight differences: Here is the ship as it appears in the film: Benny's Spaceship: TLM version by cinderbike, on Flickr And here's my copy, after assembly and staged about the same: Benny's Spaceship - Production version by cinderbike, on Flickr Benny hasn't quite built the hoses yet, but as you can see the 2 big differences I noticed were the construction of UniKitty's pod and the position of the front-most wing tips. Converting the set to appear as it does in the movie as actually pretty easy. In the film Unikitty's pod lacks the missile launcher, and instead uses 1x1 round trans-red pieces (they might actually be diamonds or another piece, but it's hard to tell with the glow) and a few odds and ends in lieu of the launcher pieces. Secondly, the apparatus that holds her in is more simplified in the production set. In the set, the droid torso more of less just holds her down by the tail, whereas in the film a 1x1 clip and a couple of battle droid arms are used in addition to actual lock down onto the stud between her tail and head. All of these parts are fairly easy to find, here is my tweaked version (I need to BrickLink some droid arms in light bley, but you get the idea): Hope this helps anyone else wondering how close to the film our ships are!
  14. Today I thought, that I should share this spaceship here, because despite its flaws (it may look a bit boring and repetitive) I think, that it's still a pretty decent ship, which fits into this part of the forum (here are already some Rock Raider MOCs). This post is similar to the one, that I have made on rockraidersunited, but without the development of rather bad pictures to pictures, that I have made in POV-Ray etc. XD, but since I haven't uploaded all pictures on flickr yet, there is still some stuff in the rru-thread, that isn't here (like a separate model of the bridge): http://www.rockraide...file-available/ I will also post 4 other MOCs (3 smaller LMS Explorer models and one action-figure MOC) on eurobricks :). Development Story (original Text from 2011 + 2013 Update): 1:1 scale L.M.S. Explorer (16k render) by Arthuriel, on Flickr 1:1 scale L.M.S. 15. [i combined two threads from rockraidersunited to make this post/topic more compact.] What contains 1178 pieces and looks like the LMS Explorer? If you guessed something but the 1:16 LMS Explorer, you we're wrong. I thought a long time about the idea of building an even smaller version of the LMS Explorer, because more people would be able to recreate it at home due to the lower piece count (things like the lack of some teal bricks are still a problem though). It was a bit difficult to integrate some details (this version has its flaws) and the 1:16 version doesn't look near as good as the 1:8 version, but I hope, that you still enjoy it. [2015-11-23]: I made new pictures with another render program (personally I prefer the new result):
  16. [As promised in my 1:1 scale L.M.S. Explorer thread this is one of the smaller L.M.S. Explorer models] In January 2012 I thought, that it would be a funny idea to build a smaller version of the L.M.S. Explorer, which could actually be build without owning the inventory of several Lego Stores ;) (turns out, that it's still impossible, because those cheese-slopes and other parts aren't produced in some colors like teal etc.). The result is the "Mini" L.M.S. Explorer. pieces: 5320 (aargh, so many small pieces^^). My latest version has ~5000 pieces (I eliminated some smaller flaws and exchanged smaller parts with bigger ones to reduce the brick count). building time: hmm, maybe 30 to 50 hours (changes not included) scale: not exactly 1:8 but very close to it (~1:8,25) (compared to my 1:1 scale version of the LMS Explorer, which is 975 studs long) construction program: LDD (but I have converted the model into ldr (MLCAD) and lcd (LeoCAD) files, too) dimensions: Length: 116 studs/ 91,36 cm/ 35,97 in. Width: 17 studs/ 13,49 cm/ 5,31 in. Height: 16 studs/ 12,70 cm/ 5,00 in. [2015-11-23]: I made a new picture with another render program (personally I prefer the new result):

    [MOC] Red Stinger

Hello! Second post here, second MOC. This is a small spaceship called The Red Stinger. It's meant to be a small scout spaceship, but it can be what ever you want it to be :) It took me ~2 days to build and was a bit of a challenge. This is probably my first ever build in red because I absolutely hate building in red, turned out pretty well tho. The creative use of part #98102 earned me a spot on Brickcentrals instagram page. Can you spot the oldest brick in this MOC? Please do check my other sites as well!! (and follow me!) Instagram Flickr Reddit

  25. I realize some people managed to get their hands on Benny's Spaceship (SPACESHIP) a month or two back from overseas but here in the USA official release was just a couple days ago. Mine came in the mail today, haven't started it yet, not exactly sure when I will- I just like looking at the box right now. Can anyone tell me if Benny's helmet comes pre-cracked? I ask because in all the box artwork it is cracked EXCEPT one place in the corner that seems to be an image of all the mini-figures included where it is not cracked. I've been going through my large collection of legos that had been lost and found in a garbage can sitting for 10+ years at my Aunt's house, requiring extensive cleaning and I just found my first original Benny-style space helmet yesterday, albeit in yellow... and it is cracked in the very same spot. I guess it was one of the reasons that style needed the re-design.
