    MOC: Costume Shop Modular

My latest modular is a costume shop. This is a full three story modular so it has the full height, but is only 24 studs wide. The costume shop is pretty small. The back room is where the costumes and there is a small changing room under the stairs. This Revolutionary War re-enactor is buying a hat to complete his ensemble. Upstairs are two one bedroom apartments. These have the luxury of private baths! The back with fire escape still needs a little work. Finally for size comparison with the Fire Brigade and my small Florist shop. I like a variety of building sizes. Thanks for looking!
  2. Fancy That is actually a new addition to the Main Street Strip Mall. After the move we had a hole in the lineup around the new hotel's location and the costume shop plugged that hole right up. The exterior is meant to blend in seamlessly with the rest of the strip mall as designed by Brick City Depot and we went with yellow to keep the whole - every building looks the same but has a different color - theme. The interior of the shop is fairly simple and is being used primarily to display some of the collectible minifigs but we think it does the trick for the type of shop that it's supposed to be.By keeping it as simple as it is we've been able to really squeeze in as many 'costumes' as possible. Hope you enjoy. If you'd like to see more please click here or here.
  3. After the move the Flat Rate Courier Shop has been rebranded into DupliBrix Copy & Courier. The building is on the northeast corner of the Main Street Strip Mall so we knocked out a wall and added in some windows while also significantly beefing up the interior. As with the rest of the strip mall buildings the exterior is the design work of the folks at Brick City Depot. The art work is all original but was certainly inspired by the work of BrickBuildersPro. Hope you enjoy. Here's the whole shop from the top down... This is the old interior from Brick City Depot... If you'd like to see more feel free to stop by here and here.
  4. I'd like to take you to another stop in my burgeoning modular LEGO city! Today's visit is to the Octopus Japanese Restaurant, where minifigs flock for authentic Asian cuisine! Here's Octopus! The torii and rock garden help to allure hungry diners to the restaurant. If you're in the mood for sushi or hibachi, you've arrived at the right place. Around back, we can see the open air dining area. A closeup view of the dining area in the back of the restaurant. Now for a look inside! Here's the ground floor. The sushi bar is to the right, with a casual dining area to the left. Another look at the ground floor. There's a sink in the prep area near the sushi bar, some decorative items on the wall, and a restroom under the stairs. One of the most alluring aspects of the ground floor is the large aquarium, dividing the sushi bar and table settings and giving the restaurant a calm atmosphere. There's even a light feature in the aquarium to further enhance the experience. Here's a look at the bathroom. It's a small space but it has what's necessary. But now, let's travel up the stairs to the next floor: The next level has two hibachi tables. The hibachi is very popular for large parties and business meetings. The chefs are very skilled and put on a highly entertaining show. To the right, another chef prepares food for preparation at the table. Some friends are enjoying sake and miso soup before their entree is served. Swinging doors separate the kitchen area from the patrons in the main dining area. And now, let's go up one final flight of stairs, which really picks up after hours: The top floor contains a karaoke bar and lounge! Patrons sing their hearts out to their favorite songs, but occasionally a professional entertainer puts on her kimono for a performance on selected nights. Dark curtains help keep an ambient vibe and another aquarium and flowers keep the patrons happy. And for musical accompaniment, a full sized piano sits on the stage. Our featured performer hopes you enjoyed your evening at Octopus! Check out more pictures on my Flickr page!
  5. Hello Everyone! Welcome to my latest creation: The Gas Station! Check out the pics and enjoy the atmosphere of the 20's and the 30's, the time when gas stations were stylish and spectacular. Before starting to build I have checked several vintage pictures of old gas stations in order to design the MOC that fits the best this age and also the LEGO Town. I hope you'll enjoy my creations (the station and the cars)! For more pictures of my custom vintage designs, please click here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/righty/sets/72157642116878564/ http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=94764&hl= http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=93337&hl= http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=91343&hl=
  6. Hi all! I've been riddled with doubt for a while now about the modulars. I have them, as I assume 110% of all of you have them as well. At every convention there are dozens of people displaying them. Lego fan sites are full of them. And I feel they are not very, erm, 'special' anymore, know what I'm saying'? I've bought all the modulars the day they went on sale, but I haven't bought the Parisian restaurant yet… I'm kinda bored with them… because I've seen them eeeeeverywhere I guess. Now, my question is: what do you guys do with your Modulars? Do you keep them on display as they are or do you remodel them? Do you use the bricks for completely different things or do you just change a bit (like adding a floor, changing the interiors or tiling the floors)? I think the modulars look great! But they are just a tad smaller in scale than my MOCs and they look weird together, so I wanna take them apart and rebuild them to fit more with my MOCs. I've started with taking apart the Petshop, but I stopped halfway through, wondering if I was doing the right thing, panicking, running around, arms flailing. What do you guys think? Reuse the bricks for original work like a heathen, or display them in all their conventional glory like a good boy?

    Suggestion needed!

Hi all, hope I'm writing in the right section! I'm trying to build somekind of a modular village/harbor to be used with prefab hull ships for play/display/comics. I know there are some beautiful land based MOCs in this forum, but they're really different from what I'm trying, because they're huge, complex and too detailed. I would like to mix old school/few pieces design with some new building technique... like old official LEGO sets, but slightly less "naif", like a lot of mini-sets designed for AFOLs instead of kids, to be connected to make different villages. To make an example: a house could not have more than three walls (enough in the lego world!), stereotyped rooms ecc.. or a shop may have the classic red/blue slope tent What I would like is suggestions about the "kits" I need. Dock sections? a simple tavern? a fish shop? a little guard's station and.. what else? Thanks for reading!

    MOC Grocery Store

Hey all! First time I'm posting a MOC! I don't have a good camera, so I made the pics with my phone. Forgive me! I wanna show you my grocery store. It's a small corner building in dark colors (mostly black, dark red and dark green). On the outside there are crates of fruits and vegetables, a tree pushing up the stones of the sidewalk, a dumpster around the corner, Chase McCain on patrol, and the entrances to the shop and the apartment above. The roof plates will be replaced with a darker color, I was thinking dark brown or dark gray, but Kristel's suggestion of dark green got me thinking ;) Inside the shop there are stocked shelves, a counter with a scale and a busy shop owner. What you can't see is the refrigerated area across from the counter and the restroom underneath the stairs behind the counter (even though the toilet is basically invisible, I want my buildings to be functional, and a place for the shop owner to lay a brick [badum tsh] is part of that) When we go upstairs, there's an apartment. First level is the kitchen (with toilet and laundry room), second the living room, and third the bedroom and bathroom with a small balcony. I hope y'all like it! I've got some more MOCs I wanna show you when I get the chance! [EDIT] Just a few extra pics I had:

    MOC: Abandoned Factory

The economic downturn in my City is continuing relentlessly and with the Octan Fracking Company causing local earthquakes one factory closes its doors and moves operations elsewhere. It looks like one of the Gas Tanks they were moving inside slipped off its chain and smashed the concrete and it's just been abandoned They've sealed the Front door with a wooden plank stuffed behind the broken down pipe and nailed into the cement walls. Unfinished wheel hubs and corrugated piping lie around . Inside the main entrance thieves have stolen the bathroom door At the rear some of the railroad tracks have been removed And there's a mysterious leak from the storage tank And there's an interior on the Factory floor And an interior upstairs - just a couple of empty offices, some packing crates and the obligatory rat Hope you enjoy it! Criticism and comments most welcome.

    Bob's Kabob

Hi everyone! I present to you my newest modular: 'Bob's Kabob' snackbar! For this modular I wanted to do something different. Being from the Netherlands I find most of the modular buildings rather large. The way they are build lend them very well for laying out broad boulevards and less for building the small, maze like city centers of old European towns. So decided to make this a double modular, meaning that the back of the building had to have a street worthy facade aswell. This way the building would face two streets. Let's have look inside shall we? The apartment above And the top floor And as a bonus pic: Bob's Kabob between a small square I build and my Asian restaurant. The building styles don't match but I wanted to see them next to each other. I hope you guys like it. Feedback is greatly appreciated!
  12. Since my LEGOing partner is also my 11yo daughter when the Friends line hit a few years back it was immediately decided that we'd have to work the theme into our city and the Bubble Gum Beauty Salon was born. Hope you enjoy. You can see more here and here. Thanks for checking it out.
  13. What ? A modular from LT ? Yes, it's an Octan Rural office and store. I should of said picture heavy I guess but you can see the two sections that come away so repairs or minifig positioning can be done. Any comments and questions feel free to post them.
  14. Hi all, After a long time without posting anything here, Im so glad to present my first 32x16 Modular Building. This house was rounding my mind since I bought the 10228 Monster Fighters "Hounted house", this is a good set but with difficult integration in a modular city, but with a valuable vault of pieces. Without more presentation, the pictures The happy renters specially dressed for the occasion General views Some of the details Entrance Back courtyard Rain gutter with old technic parts Roof terrace Lower plant Upper plant "]Complete Gallery in FLICKR Enjoy it
  15. All cities need a creative outlet and a bit of culture. Godwins Hollow gets both at the L Art Studios & Gallery. The gallery is downstairs and the studio is up. You can see more here and here.
  16. Once we started joining online LEGO communities we found several really amazing hardware stores. Having the proverbial plethora of tools and other hardware store staples we decided to throw our hat in the ring too. Stewart's Hardware store is just about the only place in Godwins Hollow where the DIY Minifig can purchase these sorts of materials. Formally part of the East End Shopping District it's now located near City Hall. Here's a few shots of our store, hope you enjoy. You can see more here and here.
  17. This is actually the culmination of several builds as they came together to form a whole scene. Unfortunately, we've not decided where this will all live in the new layout so for the moment Godwins Hollow is without a beach party. You can see more here, here, and here.

    Godwins Hollow - Moving In

We recently had to move - we live in Kuwait and since we're not locals we can't own property so when the landlord says go you go. Anyways, it has afforded us the opportunity to setup a new layout in Godwins Hollow. We've got everything planned out and most of the existing buildings are where they should be but there is still lots of room for new! You can see more here and here.
  19. The good people of Godwins Hollow had to have a house of worship so St. Thomas Church came to be. Some folks don't take to the non-purist stained glass windows but when lit from the inside we think they're pretty neat. Hope you enjoy. You can see more here and here.
  20. The law offices of Pearcy, Luney, and Stewart are strategically located immediately behind the GHPD building in Godwins Hollow. Originally the building was located outside City Hall and only shared a wall with one building - hence the greenery on the other side. Since we've moved it has a new home but we liked the little planter box enough to keep it. We'll get some pix of it's new home up soon. You can see more here and here.

MOC - Lego Star Wars Museum

With all the speculation going on in the Modular rumors thread, one thing that keeps popping up is a museum. Which I agree would be a very good modular. Egyptian, etc had all been done though, and one day I was staring at my Advent Calendar bits and bobs when the idea hit me - why not do a Star Wars themed museum? I had the further 'brilliant' idea of basing the idea on the Museum of Natural History building in NYC, which looks something like this. Enough backstory, presenting... The Rebel Alliance on one side, and the Galactic Empire on the other, with Yoda welcoming visitors and the Death Star looming over everything. Front Door. Birds' eye view of the ground floor. The Rebel half - Millennium Falcon, and you can't really make them out but that's Han and Leia The Empire half - Star Destroyer and a mini Imperial shuttle Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader. The Emperor is not pleased... Han Solo hanging in Carbonite on the way upstairs Upstairs, the Rebel half These are not the droids you are looking for.. It's a trap! X-Wing and pilot Tie Fighter and pilot AT-AT, Snowtrooper and Darth Maul Somewhat out of place in between the Grand Emporium and the Green Grocer. It needs a town square of its own to lord over. [Apologies for somewhat out of focus photos. I didn't quite realize how hard it would be to photograph inside the walls once everything was up. And of course I was too lazy to take down some walls just to take photos..] Comments and critiques welcome please. Always looking to improve!
  22. This is the home of the Godwins Hollow Police Department. This MOC isn't exactly a modular as it was built to be a stand alone facility but it is modular in so much as the floors are all removable so the interiors can be viewed. You can see more here and here.
  23. This is a little dance studio for our city, Godwins Hollow. There are two studios, one for group performances and another for more advanced students requiring one on one instruction. Enjoy. You can see more here and here.
  24. This is the fire department in our city - Godwins Hollow. This MOC is basically alteration/extension of the Fire Brigade but it works well in our layout. You can see more here and here.
  25. Following the rest of or recent postings here's the Expanded Grand Emporium from our city Godwins Hollow. In our old layout the GE was in a spot that required an inside corner so we expanded it to complete that inside corner. We've got a bakery, groceries, clothing, electronics, furniture, toys, candy, and an arcade inside. Hope ya enjoy. You can see more here and here.
