  1. Here is my review on LEGO City 60424 Jungle Explorer ATV Red Panda Mission: THE GOOD: The Red Panda is great and looks way better than they showed in official reveal Johnny Thunder The location build is compatible with a clip to be connected with sets in this wave. THE NOT SO GOOD: The ATV is bigger than recent one from set of this size but lacks the suspension or turning wheels gimmick. I wonder how many of us bought this because it's a low cost way to obtain the new Red Panda. It's always good to get new animal moulds in small set like this. This set also comes with some new elements. The ATV is much bigger compared to other ATV released recently but this time lacks any action like suspension or turning wheels. But it's ok, given the main draw on this set is really the new red panda, and it looks great. Way better proportion in real life than compared to what's in photos. With a small terrain build which you can connect with other jungle sets just released. At $19 NZD, it's really a good way to the new red panda. I do wish they included a second but this would probably increase the price. Anyway, it's a recommendation from me!

    [MOC] Lego City Spaceship

Another 2024 lego 'city' moc. Stuff is really wilding this year.
  3. Hi there, I made a movie trailer for every Lego city builders worst enemy. Who is familiar with this problem? ;)
  4. Here is my review on LEGO City 60417 Police Speedboat and Crooks' Hideout: THE GOOD: Very good gangster minifigure. The speedboat has a good build and very sporty look. THE NOT SO GOOD: It's a bit bland and not many play feature. The green container has too many gaps to incorporate the play feature. This wasn't on my wish list originally until I notice one of the bad guy minifigure, with an 30% discount a week earlier, I decided to buy this instead of waiting for the parts being available on PAB. First, the minifigure did not disappoint, it may be one of the most Badass looking minifigure lately. And surprisingly with legs printing too. The face and hair have a strong resemblance of Toguro from Yu Yu Hakusho. However, the set itself is just OK in my opinion. While the police speedboat is a nice surprise with refreshing building experience and very sport look, the rest of it really bland. And the play features limit to a few thing only. And because of the play feature incorporated in the blue shipping container, it causes a lot of gap around it. Even the main hideout is hard to say it's an hide out. Having said that, I do appreciate we get a new bull dog with new colour collar. Without discount at $55NZD, it's really not worth it considering the contents. However, if you also like me love the minifigure design and don't want to wait for PAB availability, then I would recommend this set if you able to get a decent discount =)

    REVIEW: 60377 Explorer Diving Boat

Here is my review on 60377 Explorer Diving Boat: THE GOOD: New Marine animals, 3 of them are re-colour but looking good. Surprisingly good looking underwater location build. THE NOT SO GOOD: High price. Originally have no plans to buy this to save money but Amazon AU was selling at 40 NZD, with a new sea turtle, recoloured baby turtle, hammerhead and sting ray, rather then wait for P&B for the animals, it might be cheaper to buy the set. Turns out the animals are pretty good and the location for them is great too. Love the use to the mop piece as sea weed. Depending on how you display it, putting a diver and lock the hammerhead on a sea weed makes it look very lively. The boat is very simple but still looks kinda cool in my opinion. No stickers is a plus but obviously this set is targeting a younger demographic so you can't expect much in terms of building experience. If you have other sets in the same save, the minifigures can be repetitive too. Now, will I buy this set without the discount, probably not with current cost of living crisis. Without discount at $63NZD, it's really a bit too much even when I have the spare $$$. So, if you able to find a good deal or clearance deal and you like collecting lego animals, this is something I would recommend. Otherwise, it's probably just a bit too expensive compared to what you get.
  7. Here is my review on LEGO City 60379 Deep-Sea Explorer Submarine: THE GOOD: Great and interesting submarine build with a very streamline look. Excellent wreck site with SHARKS! The jelly fish build is a nice surprise. THE NOT SO GOOD: It is quite expensive without discount. I really like this one. Originally drawn by the wreck site build and the great white shark, it did not disappoint. In fact, personally I found the wreck site more interesting than the submarine. Very lively looking ship wreck site with some treasures hidden behind. The jelly fish look great! The shark circulating action is really fun. And great way to an another great white shark, perfect for those who missed out few years ago. Having said that, the submarine also have a very refreshing building experience. The sub is way bigger than it looks and have a very nice streamline look. It also pack with details inside. Although it does look a bit similar to the other sub you've seen on the news few months ago but this is absolutely just co-incidence. I really can't find anything that are negative with the set itself, the only downside is the RRP is quite high. Totally understand the higher price with many large pieces included, although it's not breaking the bank expensive but not easily accessible as well. But luckily these kind of sets often have discount attached to it, so you just need to find a good deal. Totally recommend this set to anyone.
  8. Here is my review on LEGO city 60398 Family House and Electric Car: THE GOOD: Looks great with a modern design. Some interesting interior details like the fridge & bathroom The glass house patio is looking really nice and fun little build. THE NOT SO GOOD: Extremely expensive at full price. Advertised as modular style but actually not many variation to reconnect unless you buy multiple of this and start making your own creation. It is a very nice modern looking house. While the building experience is very straight forward, I did enjoy it and like the end product. The fridge using the newer door piece is something refreshing. It's also interesting how the bathroom has the shower and toilet but it's very very tight there. Upstairs are the bedrooms and I like how the pillows are represented. Good use of stickers for the kid's TV for his video games. I wish the kitchen stove uses the Queer Eye printed stove piece instead of a sticker though. The Electric car itself is quite up to date with the lights design, but how can it only fit one person while this is a family of 3!? The car port is very spacious and fit the car perfectly with a EV charger. A good mixture of minifigures with some new parts and including a puppy is a plus definitely. However, the main drawback of this set is really the price. at full price, it's NZ$95, this is pretty ridiculous pricing, I probably will hold off buying this if it wasn't Amazon doing a 25% off. Despite how great it looks, still can't justify the full price. Also the box shows how each sections can be re-arranged but the only part there are pins ready for you to customize is really switching the little sections with flowers and between the patio. If you need to customization, you probably need to buy 2! I like the set but with the price, I probably will recommend the Creator 3 in 1 Cosy House instead =)

    REVIEW: 60363 Ice-Cream Shop

Here is my review on 60363 Ice-Cream Shop: THE GOOD: Great looking modern ice cream shop with a very nice sign with melting effect. Also comes with a full roof. Lovely polar bear mascot minifigure. THE NOT SO GOOD: High price without discount. Could have a bit more interior details. Another great LEGO City set from latest wave. I'm surprised how complete this set is. It looks great and with a full roof not like the Grocery Store with a full open roof. Plenty of space inside the shop but of course one could be asking if it's possible to have more interior details. The ice cream shop sign is brilliantly done with the melting effects. The polar bear costume/mascot part also did not disappoint. This is the main reason I bought this set and it's really good. One of the other minifigures also come with a new face but surely this face will be coming with future set. I enjoyed the building experience, nothing too complex and nothing too boring either. The only down side of this set is the high recommended retail price. I bought with 25% discount which made it more reasonable but without discount I probably will have to skip and wait for bricklink for the parts I want. However I'm glad I bought this as the overall result is good. Will recommend this set to everyone as it's better to have a ice-cream shop than keep having ice-cream vans. Now I'm really tempted to buy another one to make a fully enclosed shop, bring on the end of year clearance sale XD
  10. Here is my review on 60361 Ultimate Stunt Riders Challenge: THE GOOD: It actually looks good by itself, and rarely from a stuntz set able to be display on its own. It's actually a 3 in 1 with each challenge separable. Awesome minifigures. Full loop in new colour. THE NOT SO GOOD: Price ... I wouldn't have bought this without discount. The main stunt is extremely difficult to pull off. I actually like this set, it's looks pretty cool once finished. Not a big set but actually quite tall. And because how the main stunt is designed, it also provide an interesting building experience other stuntz sets lack. One of the main reason I was drawn to this set is because of the blue colour loop and the minifigures. As with most Stuntz sets, the minifigures do not disappoint. Especially the 2 exclusive ones. The female rider torso and helmet really make me think I can make a Kang minifgure from it. Also the 3 challenges can be separated on their own which proves to be important because the full stunt is extremely difficult to pull off. You will have to have enough speed and the bike enters the loop at the right spot to knock the alien from its UFO. Really hoped I have a more successful rate in pulling this off. The other thing and the main thing put people off this is the price, at RRP 150 NZD, it hurts the wallet. Despite my wish to own this set, if I hadn't got my discount I wouldn't have bought it. Although in the end I did have a great time and like the set in the end, I will only recommend this set to people who show interests in stunt or have parts you want from this. OK now, I have acquired the blue loop, time to combine the other 2 loops from last year set to make a Triple Look Challenge!
  11. "This is the police! Come out with your hands up, we have you surrounded! Surrender now, or we are going to use force!" These two identical models were heavily inspired by a Checker Taxicab build I found on Rebrickable by user Labronco Brick Designs. (This builder had reverse engineered the taxi from the LEGO City Undercover video game) I changed the model around a lot to create a '50s police car. This car isn't based on anything too specific (but apparently there WERE Checker police cars in Springfield, Michigan at one time!), but it does get the general "look" of the stereotypical 1950s police car correct, from the single red 'gumball' light on top to the streamlined styling. You can see the original builder's model (alongside a whole bunch of other cool cars from the video game) and their accompanying free instructions here. The rear of the car with the stylized taillights and non-functional trunk latch. Each vehicle seats two: an officer upfront, and a suspect behind. That's all I have for these models, and thoughts / comments / questions / feedback in general would be appreciated!

    A little MOC I am working on………

I am working on a moc that uses parts from 60320 to make a Shell gas station like the sets 1254 and 1256. I also am using instructions for 7993 and 3177 for reference on how to make cars. Any suggestions, let me know! Thanks.
  13. So, I've had this thought for a while, and that's when should LEGO cancel City? I suggest cancel it some time between 2020-2025. I think City needs an overhaul. Town lasted 1978-1996, World City 2003-2004, and City has been running since 2005, making it 13 years old this year. I think the golden age of City has come and gone. Now, City has had some good sets in recent years like the 2013 "Racing BikeTransporter" and the 2018 "Pickup and Caravan", but to be honest, I don't think City should be pushing Police as much, though it does sell. I do really like the older city, World City, and Town sets, but recent City sets, adding big yellow net shooters don't really work half the time, and they just look kinda ugly. And with all the new pieces LEGO could develop given about 5-10 years, this could be a big improvement from the current one, and they could re-release polybags of old polybags to help fill the void of City, and then around 2030-ish, come back with a new name to relauch the theme. Now, LEGO could take a big hit and tank if this does happen, but LEGO, as far as I know, didn't tank when Town was cancelled, so this would be interesting, and I would like to see if anyone out there agrees with me.
  14. Here is my review on current GWP 40582 4x4 Off-Road Ambulance Rescue: THE GOOD: A different looking ambulance compared to other you typically get in city theme. Good size for a GWP as typically CITY GWP you get much smaller set. 3 minifigures. THE NOT SO GOOD: The door at the back of the ambulance has visible space & gap. I was skeptical at first but I ended up quite like this GWP. First, a more reasonable threshold to get this and lucky for those got this during 2x VIP. Back to this set, it's refreshing because usually City GWP are a bit more smaller. You do get a different looking ambulance compared to the ones you usually get from City. There is also space incorporated for the 2nd rescuer to attend the injured while transiting to a hospital. The neon yellow parts are just bonus. Having 3 minifigures also is great. I did enjoy the build in the end. The only thing bothers me is the door and the back have notable gaps, this is not going to feel good for the injured during the trip to hospital. Otherwise, a cool GWP recommend to everyone, as of the time writing this review, you still have 2 more days to get this set while it's still in stock!

    REVIEW: 60384 Penguin Slushy Van

Here is my review on 2023 LEGO City 60384 Penguin Slushy Van: THE GOOD: Great Pop looking Van and this allows some fresh experience despite having same action features compared to other food trucks. 2 exclusive minifigures (at least for now) THE NOT SO GOOD: The slushies did not come with all flavours advertised lol I enjoyed building this set and the end results look good. Despite having similar to identical actions features as other similar food trucks build, this one comes with a pop feel exterior which allows you to experience a slightly different building experience. I especially like the design of the rear of the van. Interior is limited with the space available but the slushies machine is great small build. I wish this set included the other 2 flavours as minifigures accessories but this set only have pieces to create 2 flavours only. Talking about the minifigures, this set comes 2 new exclusive minifigures (at least for now). Both excellent and always good to get animal costumes. At $35 NZD, this is acutally a very competitive pricing given City theme usually selling with 15~20% off. Overall, it is indeed a good small set with a fun building experience which I totally recommend this to anyone.
  16. Here is my review on 60372 Police Training Academy: THE GOOD: Impressive obstacles course. A working zip line Very interesting building experience across the set Excellent minifigures parts. Modular design and lots of small details in the interior. (very nice coffee machine) THE NOT SO GOOD: Due to the angular design, you do get a huge gap between the main central part and the climbing wall. I'm sure in an actual LEGO world this doesn't happen. Overall, this is a fun set and I like it very much. Originally I was drawn to this set because of the obstacles course, and it does not disappoint. On top of that, there are quite few details within the build that are pretty cool as well. The weight training gym and the little coffee machine is definitely one of the highlights. While you cannot really connect the equestrian training section to the main build but it's still full of details. For example, some of the poles are intentionally not connected to any other pieces so you can simulate a failed attempt to jump over. Anyway, the main star of this set is really the obstacles course. Clearly inspired by Sasuke/American Ninja Warrior, the building experience has been fun and on top of that, there is actually a working zip line. The moving platform on top of water is also really interesting. You can probably use different section's design to create you own LEGO ninja warrior course. The set is also designed in a modular way which allows you to remove/update levels easily. On top of all the fun, this set also includes quite a few new 2023 heads with very fitting facial expressions. Even though there are few flaws your logical brain might asks some questions, this is definitely still a set I would recommend to everyone :) and you will probably get some decent discounts on it as well.

REVIEW: 60394 ATV and Otter Habitat

Here is my review on 2023 LEGO City 60394 ATV and Otter Habitat: THE GOOD: Not one but 2 Otters. Small habitat but looks good with fun sliding feature. Very competitive pricing. THE NOT SO GOOD: The tree falls apart easily. I had my eyes on this set when it was first leaked and it does not disappoint! The habitat build is great, small but detailed enough. They even integrated a play feature with otter sliding. Although the tree is quite easy to fall part. The fact they included not just 1 but 2 otters made this more fun. The ATV is ok, not bad nor good but I do wish they had the movable chasis introduced in other small ATV builds. The other highlight on this set is really the pricing. Pretty much the lowest price point and you often get discount on this, paying NZD $13 for 2 otters is a very good deal considering once otter is available on Pick a Brick it will probably cost more than half price of this set. anyway, this is a recommendation from me with great elements and very generous pricing! Wish LEGO do these type of sets more!

    Big Brick City Survey 2022

Hello! Been a while since I’ve lurked here. I have a survey about LEGO cities around the world called the Big Brick City Survey, which I’d love as many LEGO fans to complete as possible; it should take 5 - 15 minutes to complete depending on how in-depth you like to be, and we’re offering a £100 / €100 / $100 LEGO prize for an entrant drawn at random (if you want to share your details - you can still complete the form without giving me those). We’re hoping to be able to spot a few trends, and present some fun facts about LEGO fans’ towns and cities around the world once we’ve processed the entries, hopefully around early March next year. The questionnaire asks about your city name, and any meaning you have associated with it, the size of it, how your city is governed, and if you have any notable landmarks. The survey form closes on Monday 30th January 2023. More information and the form are at Look forward to seeing your cities! Richard

[MOC] Nod to the Old Octan Tow Truck

So this was something I did out of pure boredom. Back in October, I had ordered the 7638 Tow Truck off of eBay for a good price, but then I thought that it didn't really match well with my gas station. Recently, City has been doing nods to a lot of its classic sets in current city sets. In 2015, there were two nods. One was a tv chopper in set 60097, which was rather eerily similar to the TV Chopper from 1998. There was also this space set, which was a nod to a classic set. But I don't remember what it was. 2018, they did 60183 Heavy Cargo Transport and in 2021, they had the 60289 Air Show Transport; both of which were obvious nods to the 6357 Stunt Copter N Truck. It came to my mind of.....what would a revival of the tow truck from the 6337 Fast Track Finish set look like. So with that being said, here is a pic of my nod to the old Octan tow truck. For the side stickers, I had some Xtra sticker packs where I got the Octan labels from plus another Octan label that I got from eBay. My method to making this MOC, which is basically a recolored 7638, was really just to replace all the orange with white and all the bottom with red and green. I also replaced the blue lights with orange lights as those are what we use as warning lights here in the states (Just to clarify to our members from other countries). This MOC was pretty simple come to think of it. Now the tow truck is ready to help out any car that is broken down in town.

    REVIEW: 40578 Sandwich Shop

Here is my review on the LEGO City 40578 Sandwich Shop: THE GOOD: Looks great. The sandwich sign build. Delivery back pack also great simple build. THE NOT SO GOOD: Can't find any. I like this set more than I expected. This is actually a very nice sandwich shop. The build and colouring are both outstanding for this size of set. Now interior may be lacking but there are enough space for you to add more details. I like the fact they use green mostly and you suddenly can relate this to UBER EATS and Subway. I really like the sandwich logo/sign build and also the delivery backpack looks really. Nothing really bad about this set and I hope this set will become available outside EU and ASPAC soon. Having said that, although this is a nice GWP and is a great extra if you have something you need to buy to reach the threshold, otherwise this set can be easily built with any spare parts you have. Don't think this GWP is great enough to justify getting past the threshold for the sake of it =)
