    Lion Castle Siege

Entry into the siege category of the CCC XIII.
  5. An entry into the Forbidden Fortress category of the Colossal Castle Contest. A collab between John (LittleJohn) and I: John built the landscape, while I built the fortress. The build is based off of the story of Beren and Luthien from the Silmarillion. There's a full interior inside, and the drawbridge is functional. Sauron's werewolf form, and Huan were both inspired by Dunedain and Blake Baer. Luthien and Huan, the Hound of Valinar, rescue Beren from Sauron's fortress of Tol-in-Gaurhoth. Sauron takes the form of a werewolf to battle Huan. "Therefore he (Sauron) took upon himself the form of a werewolf, and made himself the mightiest that had yet walked the world; and he came forth to win the passage of the bridge... But no wizardry nor spell, neither fang nor venom, nor devil's art nor beast-strength, could overthrow Huan of Valinor; and he took his foe by the throat and pinned him down" (Tolkien 175). Gates and drawbridge closed: There's a lot to see, so check out additional pictures here: http://www.brickbuilt.org/?p=1687 C&C welcome
  6. Hello ! I always loved the Bavarian castle of Neuschwanstein, since I was a child. So, when a few years ago I saw it made of LEGO, I said to me that one day, I will made it too… (When I look back, I think it was probably at this time I came out of my dark age) This is the work of the LEGO castle's specialist : Bob Carney (http://www.carneycastle.com/index.htm) It was its 127th castle, in 2010. It was exposed at Brickworld 2010 and 2014. I used reverse engineering from pictures of the LEGO castle to draw my own plans of a part, to begin. When I found correct dimensions, I used a Lego CAD program (MLCAD) to build it virtually. I only used the pictures that are on the castle's page of Bob's website (http://www.carneycas...stein/index.htm) After several months of work (it's hard to have much free time when you have a job and a family…), in January 2015 I was ready and ordered the first parts. In April, I made a second part. For now, I have build the whole entry, the lower courtyard and the watchtower. Instead of leading to the upper courtyard, the stairs leads to a wall walk and to the foot of the watchtower. Sorry, at the time the photo was taken, it wasn't quite finished... Its builder himself said that it is technically a palace, not a castle… I hope you will be accept me anyway in the Castle theme ;-)

    Heart Grove

Hello guys, I have not been very active in the GoH over the last year after the "Age of Mitgardia - Military" contest. Now I have managed to build something that would fit for GoH again and I hope that more will follow in the future. Though I am in the guilds of Mitgardia, I hope I am allowed to post a creation that is more Avalonia-based. "The Heart Grove is an ancient place where the Elves of the woods worship the gods of nature. Heart Grove by Jonas O., auf Flickr I hope you like it! C&C welcome!

    [MOC] Hero's Room

Here is a simple and small MOC in a medieval fantasy world (actually inspired by games like Skyrim). The idea is that the heroes return to their home after a long and hard looting :) The build is part of a series of sets I currently plan all related to this medieval fantasy world and with these kind of role playing backgrounds. There is the bed and a small table as well as a fire place on the floor where fish can be cooked. In the chest, there is some of the stuff taken by our heroes.

    MOC: Round Table Hall

After 3 years of design in LDD, and 1 year of accumulating parts, I have finished my Round Table Hall. It is based on the ordering of the Round Table at Winchester Castle, as shown here: https://childrenofar.../roundtable.jpg These are a few general photos, and I will take some more with detail later. If you like these, be sure to check out my Robin Hood MOCs as well: https://www.flickr.c...6995@N05/albums My Flickr account also has these photos in higher res (although I am a busy person, and the photos aren't too great)
  13. For the 2013 MocAthalon. Team:Team Theocracy. 8. Redesign a Classic Lego Set. Choose any Lego set released in the year 2003 or earlier and redesign it. Add more details, change the minifigures, smooth it out more, do what you want to make it your own! On your entry page, provide the set number and name of the set you redesigned. If you need help finding a Lego set to remake or set name/number, the center column titled "Sets released in…" sorts Lego sets by year released:http://brickset.com/browse/ As soon as I saw this category, I thought of one thing...CASTLE! The CCCX had the same thing, so I decided to try and build another one, except better. :D I found this one, and Bingo! :D Enjoy!
  14. Category: 1. What has roots as nobody sees, is taller than trees, up, up it goes, and yet never grow? (Answer: Mountain) Here is my rushed into into the 2013-14 Middle Earth Lego Olympics. I am not entirely satisfied with this build, as I wanted to get more angles and detail, but time limits and life got in the way. :) So here it is, I used the answer to the category, "Mountain," to base my creation of off. Basically this castle lies behind a waterfall, in a mountain, hence the sloping rocks. It was also going to be my entry into the CCCXI Secret Hidout category, but I ran out of time on that one. :/ Sorry for the eh pictures, I was a bit rushed, and night pictures are always hard in my house. Thanks for viewing, and Enjoy! Soli Deo Gloria! ~Matthew~

    [WIP] Landscape (Part II)

Dear fellow Brick Builders, long time no see. Due to some serious real life trouble my progress in rebuilding the northen part of the river has been slow. But finally the problems got fixed and I was able to continue with the important staff. My idea was to redesign the montains in a more natural looking way and to use a higher quantity of slope bricks. In addition to those new criterias a have decided to use only one colour. the first result has already presented here in the first topic. Today I proudly present the progress. This picture shows how I wish to continue. Here the elfen "village & forest" shall be build. More pictures are avaible at my Brickshelf folder.

  18. After several requests, I have made an MOC of a Sherwood camp, including Friar Tuck and his faithful dogs, Marian, and another member of the Merry Men roasting a fish. The MOC includes: A hut covered in vegetation, with loopholes on the sides for archers, a table for eating using gold dishes, plenty of food in barrels and crates, and some tools and cooking utensils on the wall A campfire surrounded by rocks and places to sit, with a fish rack and a bipod for making stew The target, conveniently "borrowed" from the tournament grounds, with which Robin Hood split his opponent's arrow Three minifigures, as mentioned above: Friar Tuck, Marian, and another member of the Merry Men roasting a fish over the fire. Since Friar Tuck is such a difficult minifigure to design with existing Lego pieces, I decided to give him his characteristic look using a yellow sticker over the bowl cut hair piece (after deciding that painting made the hair indentations even more conspicuous). He is accompanied by his trusty dogs. You can see better pictures of the camp on Flickr at https://www.flickr.c...157659507712026. This is also a project on Lego Ideas if you like it enough to support it or share it: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/119057 I have always wanted to portray Robin Hood through Lego bricks. I hope you like it, and if not practical suggestions are always welcome!

    (MOC)Drafegin Docks

Here's my newest moc, enjoy. For the past few weeks I've been dying to make a moc with some sort of flying ship involved. I started making the ship immediately and later made the port. There isn't really any backstory to, but it is worth mentioning that the ship is roughly based off the ones in "The Edge Chronicles". Overall view of the moc. A closer view of part of the market, an elvish apothecary, and a seller of random ship gear. A cartographer next to the weapons stall. Another view of the street and a croc-man selling wine. The upper dock with a winch for supplies and an early view of the sky ship. This was super fun to build, I hope you liked it. C&C greatly appreciated, thanks for viewing.

  22. Hello everyone, about a year ago I finally got my hands on my favourite childhoods castle, the King's Mountain Fortress (set no. 6081). If I remember correctly it was the 1990 Lego catalouge, and I remember drooling over it and trying to rebuild my sister's Rock Island Refuge 6273 into it. That ugly raised plate actually made the castle look that much more fun in my childs eyes than other castles that were available at the time. So as I was saying about a year ago I begoten the set 6081, the King's Mountain Fortress but in the same time I got my hands on a great deal for the Black Falcons castle the 6074 set. After all those childhood's hours and days daydreaming of it and finally building it, I was actually a bit dissapointed with it. The Black Falcon's castle was far prettier to me now. So decided to uncostruct both and try to make my vision of the classic King's mountain fortress. All the parts used are those two sets and the big ugly raised plate (added the iron railing gates and some minor pieces later), plus I partially used for inspiration one poster I admired when I was a kid.. a huge scene of "what you can do with castle lego", so this is what it turned into. Nothing special, just a classic rework of a classic lego castle. (btw, I really hate the raised plate, but it's good for something when you don't have enough legos to build the "mountain" yourself) That's it folks :)
