[MOC] Assault on Jedha: A Rogue One MOC

Happy New Year everyone. Here is something I built following the release of Rogue one. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed building it.

    [MOC] Dodging Patrols

I built this to coincide with my review of the set 75153 AT-ST Walker, which you can check out here! I studied bits from the trailer and combined them into this representation of Jedha.
  4. There is no official LEGO set of this key spaceship (at least until today), so when I left the movie theater after watching the film, I decided to make my own version of the SW 0608 Zeta-class Shuttle "Rogue One" on a scale compatible with the use of minifigures. The model has two decks: the cabin and the cargo deck, connected with a ladder. The cabin can be opened to comfortably place four minifigures. The cargo deck has an orange container for freight (in the movie the imperial cargo shuttle was used to transport the Kyber crystals), which can be removed to leave the shipment at the destination. The cargo deck has two ramp doors, one in the front and one in the rear, to disembark materials and personnel. The four wings can be placed in flight position (tilted down and out) or fold in vertical position for take off and landing. In the flight mode the silhouette of the ship resembles a prehistoric sea reptile or a sea turtle, something that I find pretty cool. Update: improved model, new pictures Hi everybody and thank you for your comments. Based on your feedback, I made an improved version of the ship. Hope you like it: Remember that this project is also posted at LEGO Ideas https://ideas.lego.com/projects/162619 Pictures of the first version: Hope you liked the model Best Regards Luis

    [MOC] TX-225 GAVw "Occupier"

I'm sure everyone remembers the Imperial tank which had some screentime during the ambush on Jedha in Rogue One. The TX-225 GAVw (Groud Assault Vehicle, wheeled) "Occupier" is a tracked vehicle produced by Rothana Heavy Engineering, used by Imperial forces as a patrol and transport vehicle. It has a crew of three (Commander, driver and gunner/technician) and armed with six Dymek MK 2e/w laser cannons, two pairs in the rotating turrets on the sides and one pair fixed in the front. I originally wanted to slightly modify the official Lego set but when I saw a close-up of the tracks during the movie I was really excited as a tracked SW vehicle combines both my interests, Star Wars and WWII-era armored fighting vehicles. With the availability of some detailed images and a cutaway (really useful!) from the new Rogue One visual dictionary I then decided for a complete rebuild instead - with a three man crew and all details included such as an accurate interior and opening hatches. The actual tank used in the movie was based on an Alvis Stormer flatbed, of which the only major modification was the addition of side panels covering the tracks. Photos of this AFV were also really useful as an addition to the reference material.
  6. Update 2: grey lines and wrinkles for better visibility when printed, added binoculars. Update 1: Added face, back. Hi there, I am currently working on decals for Rogue One's Galen Erso and am finished for now with the torso, so I thought I would share my progress here in case anybody wants to use them, since there is no official minifig (yet). This is his farmer outfit from the trailers: This served as my template. I hope I can come up with a good face, too, and eventually post it here. Let me know what you think, c&c welcome!
  7. After seeing the U-Wing I decided to design one as it is such an elegant unique ship. In my opinion, the best feature is the wing swoop element. My design has fewer bricks a total of 504, unlike lego's brick count of 659. My main goal was to get the design to look aerodynamic, unlike TLG's chunky design. Because of this, I have had to sacrifice play features. However, the canopy does still function, the wings swoop at an angle and there is a ramp at the front of the ship for accessing the cargo bay/ troop bay. I might add functioning side doors in the future, and improve the structural quality of the ship. Also, I may create a UCS version. I hope you all like my design! Does anyone have any MOC requests? I have a lot of free time at the moment. Rendered using Blueprint.

    [MOC/MOD] ARC-170 Starfighter

To celebrate the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story today, I decided to build a 786-piece model of the ARC-170 Starfighter. While it does not actually appear in the movie, it was the Republic's precursor to the iconic X-Wing Starfighter that the Rebel Alliance used in their fleet. It includes three clone pilots and an R4-D5 astromech droid. I used 8088 as a skeleton, but did some major modifications as I will detail throughout the post. Here you can see the model as a whole. At first glance you may not see that much different from 8088 (apart from the engines), but I altered many minor aesthetic and functional components of the ship to make it more accurate and give better play features. The original model had 396 pieces. I almost doubled the part count of the original. Here's a front view. One of my main priorities with this model was to bring the s-foils in closer to the main wing. In the movie, they're flush against it when closed, but 8088 had an unsightly gap between everything. This was as close as I was able to get the s-foils to the main wings. In this side view you can see some of the tapering I attempted to do near the nose. I wanted the dark red to flush better with the stripe that goes back towards the cockpit. You can also see my addition of spring-loaded missiles to the main guns, of which there are also faux blaster tips to try to mask some of the spring missiles' prominence. I also tried to extend part of the underbelly to better connect with the nose as seen on the movie model. Nothing too much back here. Just a knob that when turned opens and closes the s-foils, similar to 8088, however pulling and pushing it operates a different function... In 8088, pushing the knob activated a series of flick-fire missiles. Here, pulling it releases a latch that drops down this gun caddy which is currently holding the pilots's personal weapons. This is securely held in the ship so it doesn't fall out while swooshing. Top-down view. I changed the shaping of the wing-tips to make them more symmetrical as they should be. Here's my personal favorite enhancement. I modified the engines based on thire5's UCS ARC-170 model, but scaled down appropriately. It was a nightmare getting each tile to line up properly and not give me a collision error. I spent a good few hours or so on this part alone. They're slightly larger than the turbines on 8088, but I don't think they're oversized. The internal skeleton of the turbines for those wondering how I did it. If you have any comments or suggestions for how my model could be improved, please share! I'm always looking for constructive criticism! May the Force be with you!

    [MOC] Scarif Battle

Hi guys, to celebrate Rogue One hitting the screens in the UK I have gone back to my favourite style of building and created this Scarif micro landscape. Krennic's mini ? Shuttle

Hello everyone ! I think it's no surprise that i am pumped to see Rogue One TONIGHT ! I've been waiting for the movie since it was announced, and a specific group of people have caught my atenttion ever since day 1: the Death Squad, i just love the idea, looks, and function of Krennic's special team, and Krennic himself, and it has grown after reading Catalyist. I am a sucker for SW's shuttles, unfortunally most of the TLG's sets and MOC's are huuuge since they are in minifig scale (or close to it) and i don´t have the space to display them, i still wanted to make Krennic's shuttle since i am in love with the ship so i thought "Why not do it in a mini-midi scale ?" and that's what i did. Now i could be wrong of this being on the mini scale, but to be honest i don't know in which scale this fits I gotta say that it was hard to recreate this ship in this scale (specially since i wanted to keep the wing folding, landing gears and ramp in the final model) and while not perfect i am really happy with the result since i think i re-created it fairly well. This Shuttle has some interesting and sharp angles that were definetly a challenge while building it, but i think it came out looking quite well,,, atleast it's recognizable Moving to the back, i had no idea of how i was going to do the enginee of the ship, it finally ocured to me to use clips and grilled tiles to get the look of the enginee, the rest was pretty simple to do so i'm not gonna get into it lol i am very happy that i was able to pull of this mode, you can't see it very well here but the model is sitting on it's landing gears along with the retractible boarding ramp, this wing-folding function was very difficult to re-create due to the size i decided to build the model on, as a consecuence of this the wings're waaaat thicker than i'd like to, but what are you gonna do.... I am still pleased wih the result. And that's pretty much it, thank you guys so much for taking the time to read this, i really hope you like this little thing, i am very happy to anounce that the instructions (this means the PDF & LDD files) will be up by Friday for free !! they will be posted here so keep an eye out for that May the force be with you ! -Prime

    Rogue One Mystery Trooper?

I have been considering the semi-new Rogue One sets for quite a while now, or at least since images were first leaked back in September. One weird thing I noticed however, it that some Rebel Trooper appears in promo images for both the "TIE Striker" and the Rebel "U-Wing Fighter," but only appears in box art for the TIE. I looked at the U-Wing on Brickset, which is one of my most trusted sources, but it has images of the five figures including the rebel trooper in some images and the pilot in others. Although I am fairly certain this minifigure is only in the TIE and not in the U-Wing, I just found this to be very weird and would love your opinions on this.

  14. Update: Read Fourth Post!!! Since the second week of August, I have been extremely busy lately making something that is far more advanced than anything I have ever tried before, recreating the Rogue One trailer in Lego. I am doing this fully-CG and have been putting in every little detail into the shots. However, despite my great results, it is taking a very long time to do, and to get done in a good amount of time, I need to save some. That is where you guys come in! I am requesting help from Eurobricks members to recreate this trailer in Lego! What I would need is help creating assets for shots in LDD so that when it comes time to actually get the animation right, I can focus more on the shot composition rather than creating the Lego models, thereby helping me to finish this thing quicker. Everything other than Star Destroyers and the Death Star is minifigure-scale, EVERYTHING. This is something that I really want to maintain because one of the things that made The Lego Movie so great was that everything had the correct scaling and it helped set us into this enormous world of Lego. I would like to state that in my time here on Eurobricks, I have met the best builders in the world, and you guys are capable of making truly special things and of helping this thing getting complete. If you would like to work on assets for a shot, or multiple shots, please PM me and we can discuss what shot/what asset(s), etc. Be aware that this does not include minifigure prints, I am covering that myself for animation reasons, this will be for assets like tables, cliffs, buildings, ships, etc. I am thankful for anyone who helps me out with this, and you will be given credit for your work in the final video. Here are three decent-quality frames from what I have so far (The real thing is in 4K). There is a lot more done than this, but I don't want to give too much away before the trailer's release:
  15. Just having some fun with the Microfighter AT-ATs. I decided to update them to AT-ACTs and since they are so posable, I couldn't resist having the younglings play in the Tropical waters of Scarif. I like to think AT-ACT in this case could stand for All Tropical - Aquatic Coral Transport. Miro
  16. Just playing with some light aqua plates. Here is my Lego version of the promotional image of the stormtroopers on the beach. Who knew those light aqua plates would come in so handy. Unfortunately, I will need a lot more of them. Rogue One by Miro Dudas, on Flickr Miro
  17. Starting a thread for brick built characters from Rogue One. Ever since the first photos and the first trailer, I have wanted to build Jyn Erso in fully articulated brick built form. So here I am starting with Jyn Erso. Hopefully I will get a chance to build more of the characters from Rogue One. If anyone else would like to join, feel free to post in this thread with your version of Jyn Erso or other characters from Rogue One. I am a Rebel, I rebel by Miro Dudas, on Flickr Miro
  18. Hi everyone! After DarthTwoShedsJackson postet his wonderful A-Wing Starfighter a few weeks ago, I felt the need to build my own. As you will see my design is heavily inspired by his build but I tried adding my own touch to the model. I started of with a great piece of concept art of an A-Wing crashed on Jakku (probably) that I really liked. It was quite close to the original McQuarrie design like the A-Wings from Star Wars Rebels. Thanks to Inthert for finding the picture for me, you can find it HERE. So, without further ado, let's look at some pictures and I'll tell you some more about the specifics of the model: I tried making this model as smooth and studless as possible as it really adds to the feeling of the A-Wing in my opinion. And those of you that know my work know that I really don't mind having visible studs. ;) Especially back here the influence of DarthTwoShedsJackson becomes obvious. The engines I more or less stole from his model (hope you don't mind, Darth ;) ) but I changed the back of the cockpit as I wanted to add some more detail and make it a bit less bulky. You might notice that my model is one stud wider in the middle than most Lego A-Wings. I felt that represented the proportions more accurately and also made centering the forward landing gear a lot easier. And that is the thing I really don't like on my version yet. The landing strut is as bad as TLG's are and I will definitly go back and fix that! And finally, every ship needs a pilot! And I don't like using a faceless, characterless Rebel pilot for my models. That's why I put together this character. She doesn't have a name yet but the first fighter she flew was my T-70 X-Wing a few months ago and I am planning on using her for more of my models. I have a rough backstory for her in the back of my head and I might get around to writing it down properly and maybe even build something nice to go with it. Anyway, I hope you like my A-Wing Starfighter and if you do (or don't) please leave a comment below. I love hearing your opinion on my work and even if you don't like it, constructive criticism is just as good as praise! :)

Rogue One -- Leaked Images of New Sets

Found images of the new Rogue One sets coming out later this year. Super excited. Really excited for the Imperial Hover Tank, the new AT-ST (FINALLY!!!!), and the TIE Striker.
  20. Hello Eurobrickers! I recently (Just today) made a recreation of the shot from the Rogue One Teaser of the Death Star Radar being inserted into position. Here is a look at the image: Now, while it is not absolutely perfect, keep in mind that I used 10143 which obviously limited me from getting the trench in the shot. However, I feel that it does the job pretty well for something that is just meant to look cool, not absolutely perfect. Now, all of this is CGI, none of it is from an actual picture of Lego. I used LDD and then worked that model into Maya, then After Effects for some touch ups.
  21. This playset is a foil to LEGO set 7667 Imperial Dropship, but is inspired mostly by the Rogue One concept artwork revealed at Star Wars Celebration VII. Rogue One Rebel Dropship Battlepack by SPARKART!, on Flickr. The daring Rebel commandos deploy from the dropship by "mynocking", hanging facedown from the dropship doors. The dropship carries three rebel troopers and a pilot. The cargo doors and cockpit open, the flight deck chair swivels, and missiles are fired from the top-mounted spring-loaded launchers. Rogue One Rebel Dropship Battlepack by SPARKART!, on Flickr. Help the pilot and crew ready the ship for takeoff! Rogue One Rebel Dropship Battlepack by SPARKART!, on Flickr. Swivel the flight deck captain's chair and remind the troopers of the rendevous point, then deploy the rocket commandos! Rogue One Rebel Dropship Battlepack by SPARKART!, on Flickr. Create an explosive diversion with the spring-loaded missile launchers! Rogue One Rebel Dropship Battlepack by SPARKART!, on Flickr. Instructions available <TBD>, so you can examine, modify, and build this playset. 118 pieces total, 95 pieces for the dropship.
