  1. Hi! Here's my entry to this year's Expand the Winter Village Contest, the Kissing Booth. Hope you like it! Manning the booth is hard work, so the girls are taking turns, and keeping warm by the fire between shifts. More images on flickr. Thanks for looking. C&C welcome!
  2. Hello everyone, This is my entry in the Expand the Winter Village contest. This is also the first real contest I have entered on EB or anywhere in the LEGO world. I am not generally a Winter Village collector (being from Australia our Christmas is in Summer!) but I have been inspired by many of the great entries so far and decided to give it a crack So I did some research into Winter Village Markets to get more inspiration and came across the German tradition of the Christmas Pyramid. Having never been to Germany around this time of year, I am going solely on photos I have seen online in my research, so please forgive any errors in my portrayal of what looks to be a fantastic tradition for young and old to enjoy! Without further a due!! What Winter Village Market is complete without its Christmas Pyramid!? ^Onlookers are wowed by its romance and beauty! ^ Young and old gather in the Winter Market to watch the figurines spin around the pyramid! ^ The holiday season and the Christmas Pyramid alike reignites the romance in everyone's lives! ^ The graceful red fans spin around from the heat of the candles in the cold air. ^ And just to make sure, it all fits on 16 x 16 studs (with no more than a stud width outside, as per the rules ), including the PF kit. Speaking of which, I have uploaded a short which I would love for you to watch and see the Christmas Pyramid in action!!There are also some more shots on my flickr photostream. I had a great time researching, designing and building this. Thanks for looking, good luck to all and Merry Christmas to all
  3. Hey everyone, happy holidays! This is my entry for the "Expand the Winter Village Contest IV" Contest! A neat little gazebo, with carolers with their child, and a friendly snowblower on his break, listening to the classic Christmas songs. I usually do one Winter Village MOC per year, (such as my Candy Shop and Book Store) and when this was announced, I saw it as a chance to make it my yearly Winter Village MOC. I know have been held for the past few years, I just haven't been as creative as some of the other contest entries I've seen in the past. 16x16 studs was new, so I had to decide on something small. I built a book store, but when I read that it had to be something found in a market (such as a stall) I wasn't that happy. Took a LONG time to build it, and it was really cool. The snowblower guy was actually meant to go with the library, but I didn't want to not use him. I really like my snowblower. Anyway, enough of that, here's the rest of the pictures! Enjoy... The gazebo without the minifigures The gazebo's star can also be held down to shine a bright light onto the carolers! The gazebo at it's normal state. Such joy! That's it for now, thanks for checking my entry out! The photos could be better, I know, but I didn't have my camera at the moment, and I had this ready for a week and I wanted to submit it as soon as I could. Merry Christmas! -Sci

    Winter Village: Food stall

Hi Everyone! This is my entry for the Expand the Winter Village Contest IV. When i see the theme, 'expand upon the theme of the Winter Village Market', the first thing that came to my mind is food. So i work on having more food/drink stall to add into the Winter market. My Food stall is a four sided stall, and each side is selling either food or drink (Beers, how can one miss it in a winter market )And to add more playability, i have make it that it can be open up and have all the stalls to be seen. This is an overall view of my food stall; A quick introduction of the stalls On the left is a pretzel stall selling tasty pretzels, and on the right is a macaroons stall selling colorful and sweet macaroons On the left is a sausage stall selling yummy Bratwurst sausage, and the right is a beer stall selling varieties of beer And this is the back view of the stall when open up Hope you guys like it :) And Merry Christmas! More pictures of the stall and how it is open up can be found at my flickr photosteam
  5. This is my entry to the Winter Village competition to expand the Winter Village Market. I figured that as there's a carousel, there should be another ride too, so I present to you my Winter Village Ferris Wheel. UPDATE: the gondolas are now different colours/colors, I've also added a circular backing to it, changed the way they're attached, and added a bit more detail (including a little tree!). Oh and the photos I've taken are better too UPDATE 2: There's now photos of it displayed as part of my Winter Village layout on my Flickr account here. Fitting perfectly on a 16x16 plate, everyone who goes to the Winter Village Market wants to go on the Ferris Wheel! The lady patiently waits her turn as the girl pays for her go (things are expensive in the Winter Village Market!) The attendant takes the girl's money as the lady makes her way into the pod. A side view of the Ferris Wheel. The back of the Ferris Wheel, just to confirm it does fit on 16x16. The wheel turns easily, with the pods hanging freely from it. Larger photos can be found on Flickr here. It's the first time I've done a Winter Village scene of my own, so I hope you like it. Please feel free to ask any questions, and thanks for looking!

    Favorite Winter Village set?

I finally got around to pulling out the holiday decorations yesterday, and set up my Winter Village. What a great feeling it is every year to open up my dedicated tub and set up my tableau of winter sets! It's gotten now to where it's so big, I'm going to have to find a new way to display it. Currently, they're arranged on top of my piano, but I've run out of room! So my question is: Which Winter Village set is your favorite? Least favorite? And why? As a reminder, the 5 "official" winter sets (excluding polybags & exclusives) are: 10199 - Winter Village Toy Shop (2009) 10216 - Winter Village Bakery (2010) 10222 - Winter Village Post Office (2011) 10229 - Winter Village Cottage (2012) 10235 - Winter Village Market (2013) My favorite: I have really become fond of the Winter Village Cottage. It was a delightful build, the color scheme (light blue, gold, dark brown, some splashes of red/green) is not necessarily traditional but it works, and I love the roof with with the heavy dense snow effect over the eaves. The interior details are also perfect - tiled floor, fireplace, grandpa sitting by the fire with a newspaper, etc. This has grown to my favorite of the pack. Even the mini builds (igloo, wood shed/shop, and snow plow) add to the Winter Village and aren't just redundant structures. This set made me the happiest when I pulled it out, and has really grown on me. Don't forget the little sled (creative use of parts), and a perfect Stihl chainsaw. Least favorite: I still think the Winter Village Post Office is the "odd duck" out of the five. The post office van (like the red truck Brick Friday freebie this year) doesn't work as a 6-wide vehicle with 4-wide windshield. The stickers have peeled a bit and the french horn design is uninspired. The pavillion, although creatively designed, doesn't add to the set and its playability is limited as the techniques used to get the angles on the sides make it difficult to put more than one minifigure inside it. And let's not forget, why would a boy have a green hoodie with a grey shirt? Or a small boy playing outside with overalls but no winter coat? I kind of feel this set has the least unifying thematic designs across the board, unfortunately. And the ugliest street lamp design of all five. Anyways, please post and comment!
  7. my first ever entry to a contest. My first 'normal Lego' build too. I usually build Technic. This is a small church or chapel. It is build entirely from leftovers and pieces from the wintersets: 10216, 10235 and polybags "fall" and "decorating the tree" Only the base is from another box. Welll... probably not the best, but well I thought I might give it a try..

    Polar Express MOC

Thought I'd share my latest build. I really only usually work on designs for my Winter Village but i always pined for the Emerald Night train but the ridiculous cost held me back. When I saw the Lone Ranger Train set on special I bought it and set my mind to building a train that would fit my needs, the Polar Express. In all honesty much of the design is a complete lift of the EMERALD NIGHT but I had to rework the entire front end of the engine and I wanted to create a Mail Carriage on the back to accommodate the "Hobo" and letters to Santa etc. It is motorized and I think looks a treat, the only problem is the dust that the black bricks tend to show. I honestly dusted them all prior to the photo's. I wish i could have taken a nice long photo of the whole train but it is nearly a meter long and my poor white box just couldn't accommodate the full article. I hope you enjoy the photo's http://www.flickr.com/photos/103845615@N04/sets/72157636072660493/with/10031708705/

    Down hill Plumbing

Hi everyone! Hope its not to late for the winter village contest?!! Just kidding. Well this was supposed to be my entry for the winter village contest, however as you can see it did not make it into the contest. I thought i would still share it though, because being an ex plumber, and having the latest plumber minifigure come out earlier this year I decided it would be a perfect mini fig to add to the winter village. So here it is, my creation from my inspiration which came from the minifig plumber, "Down hill Plumbing Service" hope you enjoy it. I enjoyed building a suitable place for him. thanks for looking. more photos on flickr link. please comment, and criticize. plumbing house with service truck by branobrick, on Flickr

    Winter Village: Dorp

Hi all! Let me present my creations for winter village Expand Competition III. If it is cold, you want to be warm. Are always people who want to winter in the summer and vice versa. Probably the I am one of them... The next expedition is very taken a great interest a treasure hunt. Now is Having New Year's holiday in the hot desert. But this is not a reason to despair. Maybe it's just a big fridge and industrial ventilation system. But do you know a lot of people can not see the snow in the winter. And for a little girl is a real holiday miracle. View inside the house. more general view Photos can be found in my flickr gallery. Thanks for looking. Have fun!
  12. The excellent recent entries to the Winter Village competition have motivated me to finish up my own submission before having to leave my Lego behind me for some weeks. As for my original inspiration, I really liked that this year’s cottage set strayed further from the main street and into the back roads of the Winter Village. My entry expands upon on the handicraft theme of its wood shed and small workshop, embracing a "rural industry" motif for which I have everlasting affection! Now since the winter cottage residents seem to cut their own timber, this lumber yard doesn’t sell firewood or Christmas trees like some do, but it does supply the local toymaker with materials for assembling those model planes and boats as well as contractors with construction supplies for building new Winter Village establishments. I based the specifications and basic characteristics of this model primarily on the cottage, including minifigure count/demographics (I have an 8:3 male to female ratio and a 1:4 child to adult ratio) and layout (the shop stands in for the cottage itself, the covered cantilever rack for the shed, and the radial saw with the generator for the igloo while the forklift stands in for the plow truck and the snow blower for the sled). As a pleasing seasonal element included in all four Winter Village sets to date, I decided to build the holiday lamppost in a style mimicking the prefab part which I don't own in black. While the earlier two of the four models opted for a less complex, brick-built solution for the bottom of the post instead of the prefab part, the very first went for a contrastingly more inventive upside-down construction for the lanterns which I have attempted to parallel. Beneath the lamppost, two kinds of propane tank are stored in a cabinet cage under international hazardous substance labeling. One is a utility variety used for the forklift, and the other is a consumer variety like those used for barbecue grills, which are not as popular in the winter, but also for portable heaters, stoves and generators like the one powering the saw (with the "gas tank" colored green to symbolize that it runs on cleaner burning propane). Two gas cylinders containing less flammable carbon dioxide and nitrogen gas are chained upright to the facade (the red hand truck stands by for their transport) and a garland of holly crowns the window with a custom decal that reads “HARDWARE” and dipicts a menorah popularly displayed from behind the glass for the larger holiday season. Inside the shop, snow shovels are stocked in a bin at the entrance due to popular demand. Bags and buckets of salt and sand are also available behind the counter, along with typical hardware store items. The counter’s glass display case houses a cordless drill and carrying case, the perfect holiday gift for any handyman or -woman! I decided against using a light brick here as I thought the shop should be heated by an old radiator rather than an open hearth, and I didn’t want to install one under the roof like in the Winter Village Post Office due to the awkwardness of holding the switch in to keep it lit. I have however incorporated great playability potential into the lumber yard provided by the adjustable height feature of the cantilever shelf which elevates lumber underneath the roof (and locks in place by the action of the elastic band pin system) for its protection from winter precipitation and allows the forklift to access a supply pallet nested underneath. Finally, once the lumber pallet is taken down, individual boards can also be fed into the lumber saw vise using the spinning rollers as gramps here demonstrates. Closing remarks: credit to MOCpages user A Taylor for the gas cylinder design and acknowledgements to Mike "Count Blockula" Crowley for radiator inspiration. That's all folks, thanks for looking!
  13. I've long wanted an official Winter Village station for my train. This year I stopped waiting and built one myself. This cozy little station is the perfect gateway to your Winter Village experience. I like building that are easy to play in, so the roof opens for better access and the ramp slides to whichever position you want to use it in. It looks like some people are waiting for the next horse and buggy to arrive, to ferry them into town. Grab the hook off the wall and open up the ladder to access the clock tower for maintainence. See a closeup of the decorated office here. It can become really cold waiting for that next train to arrive. So spend some time relaxing in the witing room. Want to know some things to do while you're at the Winter Village? Pick up a pamphlet from the rack and see the nearby attractions. More pictures available on my Flickr Album
  14. It took a while but I'm excited to share my entry for the expand the Winter Village contest! The story: A couple years ago this quiet mountain community became popular as word of mouth began to spread about this charming village. First came the log cabins, ski chalets, candy stores, and coffee shops. Last year my Winter Sports Store opened up. This resulted in many citizens and tourists getting lost, stranded, and injured as they went skiiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, hiking, skating, ice fishing sledding, etc. Thus the need for a first aid station and search & rescue headquarters for the village. So an abandoned army radar station was put to good use and a refurbished MASH helicopter was donated to assist with transporting the injured and stranded back to safety. ^^entry overview with Helicopter, crashed skiier, snowboarder kids, injured guy on crutches, snowmobile, ice fisherman ^ interior view. consisting of emergency clinic, weather/dispatch station, and workshop ^ As with the other WV sets, this one also has a light brick used in a unique way ^ Time to tune up the Skidoo! ^ rough day on the slopes! More pictures are here : http://www.flickr.co...s/43769067@N08/ Builder notes: - I intentionally left out some Christmas decorations as it felt wrong to add them in late January. - Thanks to the CMF boxer's, I now have mittens in 2 colors for my kids to keep their hands warm! -The Helicopter is modelled after a BELL 47 aka H-13 Sioux made famous in the old TV show MASH -All decals are from older Lego sets Thanks for looking!

    Winter Village: The Brick Arms

My winter village pub! Do you remember how terrifying it was being pulled about on a sled by a motorbike? I do... I always see great entries, and think, "I don't have enough bricks for that." My collection at university is only about 4000 bricks, but I figured it was about time to just dive in. So what if I don't have so many options, it means I have to use what I have better! I'm chuffed with how the lorry came out. It easily seats a minifig, and with a simple parts change (for a couple of pieces I don't have) it'd fit 2 side-by-side! And there's the delivery lady hefting a package from Santa. This is an exceptionally well-armed pub. The chimney is a cannon, and the mistletoe is actually missile-toe - mounted on flick fires! It's a pub worthy of calling itself the Brick Arms! For my accessory, I wanted to do a feed the homeless type thing. That's what Christmas means to me :) I'll try get some indoors shots up on my Flickr soon. I didn't have access to the camera for long, I'll keep you posted! Roughly 900-1000 pieces. 5 minifigs + 2 more inside who you haven't seen yet!

    Winter Village Florist's Shop

Do you ever get tired of the whiteness of winter? Come see some green inside the florist's shop! This entrepreneur provides flowers for every anniversary, wedding, prom, funeral, and holiday in Lego Town. The trusty delivery man sends out gifts to everyone in the town, while the roasted chestnut vendor sells his wares. Here you can see the entire layout, featuring the florist's shop, the delivery truck, and the roasted chestnut vendor. It looks like the florist has gotten in the holiday spirit with his wreath! Above the shop window, you can see the nursery where his seedlings are grown. This is where the magic happens. It looks like the man in yellow is buying mistletoe with his special someone in mind! When packages need to be delivered across town, the trusty delivery truck is always ready. With room in the back for large packages and space in the front seat for delicate parcels, the truck is ready for any delivery. What's in the package? The boy doesn't care, he just wants chestnuts. Thanks for viewing my MOC. For additional hi-res pictures, check out my Flickr gallery. I had fun building this, and C&C is welcome.
  17. Please see my Hot Sausage Shop for the 'Expand the Winter Village' Contest. This MOC has been playtested by a 10 year old girl, who absolutely loves all the features! (and keeps eyeing off the prizes too!!) Winter Village Expansion - Hot Sausage Shop with Xmas Hamper Delivery Van, Roast Chestnut Seller & Snowball Fighters by mjfirefly, on Flickr The sausage shop is a two storey affair, complete with attached pig sty, just right for making fresh sausages... There is a total of 8 minifigures, including Sausage Sellers (2), Children throwing snowballs (2), Roast Chestnut Seller, Delivery Man, Business Man and Santa. The Sausage Shop roof can be lifted (using the Xmas Tree decoration) for play access. We use a proper log fire to cook our sausages by mjfirefly, on Flickr The interior of the Sausage Shop, a light brick provides the 'log fire' look. Xmas Hamper Delivery by mjfirefly, on Flickr Xmas Hamper Delivery, the hamper includes two bottles of Christmas drink, a carrot, parsnip, and cherries. The trolley can be placed inside the delivery van for ease of transportation, as of course can the hamper. Roast Chestnut Seller by mjfirefly, on Flickr Roast Chestnut Seller, the cart can be pushed along by the seller. Snowball Fight by mjfirefly, on Flickr Children throwing snowballs under a holiday decorated lamppost, this piece can be slotted onto the corner of the Sausage Shop so as it appears as if the children are peeping around the corner of the building to throw snowballs. More pictures of this MOC, showing the lifting roof, upstairs fireplace and other details can be found on the Flickr set by clicking any of the pictures.

    Winter Village: Jewelry Store

Hello all! I finally got my act together in time to enter a contest on Eurobricks! Here is my entry to the "Expand the Winter Village Contest III" - a Jewelry Shop with a carriage and fountain. This actually took me a little less than 3 weeks to do and over 90% of the bricks came from whatever I had laying around - easily my most efficient build to date. The hardest thing for me was not over doing it. Everything I've done at minifig scale has been CC-style modulars, and the Winter Village line is much more simplistic. I had plans to do a really ornate Queen Anne Victorian with all the trimmings, but eventually I realized I needed to strip it way down to keep my part count right (this is roughly the same as the Winter Village Cottage) and to carry forward the styles of the sets already part of the line. Maybe I'll do a proper modular to scratch my Victorian itch... Anyway, on to the entry. Here are all three parts together. The store looks larger than it is because of the porch - it is actually about the same footprint as the Toy Shop if you were to take it away. The floors don't come off normally, but I pulled them apart in order to get better pictures. Here is the ground floor. On the left is a vitrine with a priceless ruby and the gold display, while on the right is the main counter with several gems in the window. Upstairs is the workshop with a place to cut gems as well as appraise them thanks to a microscope. Extra inventory and cash is stored in the safe. This man just couldn't wait to show off the shiny rock he just got and is popping the question to his girlfriend in front of the nearby fountain. Meanwhile, another happy couple takes a carriage ride. I modeled this off of the carriages that are found in New York's Central Park. This was hard to pick just five images. Many more can be found on my flickr account, including more details of the exterior of the shop and a shot with my building among the official sets. Click here to see them! Thanks for looking, and don't forget to vote!

    Winter Village: Cafe

I am too clumsy to ski or snowboard, so when I do find myself in a winter village, the first thing I look for is a place to have a nice mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows. Hence, the natural choice for my entry to the Winter Village contest was a cafe! The footprint of the cafe is similar to the first three Winter Village sets. It has four subsets and 6 minifigures. Hope you like it. First up, a picture of the whole "set": The cafe itself: A view of the interior, with the guy who drinks eight cups of coffee a day because he has a crush on the pretty cafe owner: Another angle of the back to show some more of the detail: Final photo is a collage showing the details of the roof, the chimney and how the lightbrick lights up the transparent green and red plates above the front door: The lightbrick gives quite a nice effect. Unfortunately, my photography skills don't do it justice. Here is the flickr link for some more photos. C&C always welcome.
  21. Based on the clock tower in Wellesley, MA this was about falling in love when it's winter time; winter sleigh rides, teenagers having a snowball fight, good times when the fluffy white stuff is out. Happy new year everyone! The sleigh was self-imposed build challenge. I was determined to use those gold pearl sword blades from a Ninjago set to make some sleigh rails. Connection is solid and the angles feel right. The 90 degree angles seemed to rigid. And the cast of characters: boy in love and his dog, girl tossing a snow ball, female tourist, sleigh master: I'll get it into the layout for next year :-)

    Winter Village: Cheese Haus

Many of the winter village buildings remind me of Frankenmuth, Michigan, USA. Home of Bronners Christmas Wonderland, a Christmas store open 364 days a year, Frankenmuth was settled by German Immigrants and has a Bavarian feel. They hold an Oktoberfest every year, as well as a SnowFest, and visiting that with my family a few years ago inspired this build. The winter fesitval is held in the town square, outside the cheese haus. We find a welcome entrance, snow-built sleigh sculpture, a hot chocolate seller, two snow/ice seats, and an ice sculpture of a castle. The inside of the cheese haus has a shop downstairs and a living area upstairs. The cheese store has a refrigerated case of cheese wedges (even blue cheese!), a wheel of white cheddar on the counter, and another cheese case. Here's a link to my brickshelf folder: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=520907 Thanks for reading!

    Winter Village: Store

Winter Village Store This set is approximately 1400 parts with 7 minifigs (so similar in size to the Winter Village Cottage). The complete set features the village store with interior, a roast chestnut stall, a delivery lorry and a stone bench. The delivery lorry, complete with deliveries and driver. I'd have preferred to have built this entirely using dark blue, but the overall color choice was limited by the availability of certain parts. The other elements of the set, the roast chestnut stall and stone bench. The interior of the village store. There's no upper floor for two reasons. Firstly, adding it with sufficient details such as furniture, would have probably pushed the parts count over 2000 parts, much larger than even the Winter Village Cottage. Secondly, and more importantly, for playability, as adding the upper floor would have made certain elements on the ground floor much harder to access (and much harder to photograph clearly). More details of the interior, including the fully stocked refridgerator and vegetable section. Again, one of the hardest parts of these contests is selecting five photos to showcase the entry, so be sure to check out the full set on Flickr.

    Winter Village: Winterville Station

Winterville Station For years, Lego trains have circled the base of my Christmas Tree. More recently, official Winter Village sets have sprung up to join them, but the train never had anywhere to stop. So, this year, the mini-folk of Winterville finally have a train station to call their own. The station is a little bigger than the existing kits in the line, but then it's a train station, I'd expect it to be a little bigger than a toy store or a bakery. It looks pretty good next to the official kits and has the same sort of "feel," that's really what I was after. I don't usually do much at Mini-figure scale and Christmas Kitsch is definitely outside my normal comfort zone, but hey, it's the holidays, why not mix things up a bit. Here we have all hands on deck, clearing the recent snow from the platform to make way for the presents waiting to be loaded into the mail car. The far end of the platform features more lights, seating areas and a station clock. In keeping with the Winter Village style, we have a separate little mini-build to pad out the area. I figured all that snow they cleared from the platform had to go somewhere, why not build a snowman? In keeping with the Winter Village HGD (Hospital Gown Design - i.e. open in back) style, it's interior is readily accessible. I was shooting for something spacious without being boring, functional yet homey. The inside features a ticketing desk an open waiting area with clock and fireplace. And yes, Computer Geek Guy has just finished reading a copy of the Daily Prophet. Of course, what would a Winter Village set be without a light brick? In this build, I decided to hide the brick in the hearth to light the fiery bits in the fireplace from below. I'm not a great photographer, but trust me, it looks neat in person. The dark gray plate visible in the base of the open sidewall is the switch for the light. It sits flush when the fireplace is on and protrudes half a stud or so when it's off. I hope you've enjoyed your tour of the the new Winterville Station. Happy Holidays. EDIT: In re-reading the contest thread, I realized I'd posted too many photos. This has now been corrected. For the curious, the additional shots can be found here. EDIT: Or here (when MOCPages is acting up)

    Winter Village: Restaurant

Warm up after a break in the snow at the Winter Village Restaurant! Help deliver today's supplies and feed customers! Have a nice cup of hot chocolate or build a snowman! Set up the tree or pet the cat with this new addition to the Winter Village! (I believe the piece count is about 680. I may have messed up somewhere in there though!) Interior features; table, two chairs, smaller set-up (table and bench) with turkey, end table, chimney, stocking on the wall, light brick, plus an upstairs featuring sink and cabinets. All of the crates/barrels/pizza boxes can be loaded onto the truck. Accessories include: Two crates with one apple each + tops; Larger crate with three fish packed in ice (trans-clear 1x1 round plates) + top of crate; Three pizza boxes + one pizza and a 2x3 yellow plate so you can open one pizza box; One barrel with cherry + barrel top; One turkey, complete assembly, One red mug; One shovel; Seven minifigures (owner, truck driver, customer - lady, three children, waiter); Skis and ski poles; Christmas tree; Two small presents; One large present; Cat; Snowman; Stocking; Light brick (top of building); Carrot (bottom only). I took the "similar in style... to the previous official TLG releases" as seriously as I could, so here is a list of the similarities: Using a wooden door - Winter Village Bakery (as this is a similar type of build, I wanted to make that the same). Leaving gaps around windows - Winter Village Cottage (admittedly they aren't that big. But I didn't want to balance a piece in there as I'm fairly certain that LEGO wouldn't do that). As far as I know, TLG has never used SNOT for flooring before. However if they did I'm sure it would be attached to the baseplate, so I made sure to do so myself (all the rows are attached which allows me to attach the various pieces of furniture. Nothing has been left loose - not even the Turkey). None of the Winter Village sets have stairs, however all of them have half upper stories. Red and green decorations - each Winter Village has it's own variety of decoration that it uses multiple times. The Toy Shop used round green pieces with a red dot off to the side; the Bakery round green pieces with a red dot in the middle; the Post Office, trans-red and trans-yellow 1x1 pieces; and the Cottage used a red bow design backed by green as possible (and a second variety, a 1x1 green plate with a 1x1 round red plate on top). I used a green corner plate with a 1x1 round red plate where possible, and on the windows an inverted 1x1 green plate with a 1x1 round red plate on the bottom. Using logs - each Winter Village has used a specific brick multiple times that has not been re-used in the others (or, if it has, in a very different way or color). The Toy Shop used inverted slopes for the windows; the Bakery used arches; the Post Office round windows/foundation; the Cottage profile bricks (it is somewhat of a weak point as I used profile bricks, but in a different color). Putting a colored stripe (awning) over some area - Winter Village Toy Shop. Grey foundation - all but the Cottage used grey for their foundation. Every set has included a bench (except the Cottage) and a light post (but always different). Using a non-white roof and then adding snow - Winter Village Post Office. Most of the Winter Village sets have included only two female characters. There are other similarities, but that's probably way more than you wanted to know already! On the similar in style, weak points are: I used lots of CMF pieces for the minifigures. I was not able to include a row of lights on a string (which has edit: not been done in every Winter Village set so far). The snowman is almost too similar to the one in the Winter Village Toy Shop. My apologies if I got a little long winded. There's no need to read it all! Thanks for looking, comments are appreciated!
