    [MOC] 79002 Better Tree

Loved the tree from 79002, with a bit of modding it can be made to look real nice and be pretty big without being overly part intensive

    Castle Ideas

Hello everyone who is seeing this post. I am planning a MOC build of a castle and need some ideas as to what parts of the castle to build. The dimensions are 60x60, but I am wanting to split it up into quadrants of 30x30; building one section, and attaching it to the next and so forth. I don't wnat to build a complete castle with outer walls, but I do want to add a keep. Any ideas on what buildings or structure on this? Thanks
  4. Hello EB :) I've been gone for some time, mainly due to studying. Since my finals are almost over, I decided to try some MOCing again. The following creation started as an afternoon exercise in wall building and finished as a medieval woodworker's workshop. I wanted to build it slightly bigger, but ran into piece count constraints, as I have a limited amount of my collection at my university flat. Still, I'm pretty happy with it. The carpenter is currently engrossed in a procedure of transforming the two raw planks into a new chair. Behind him, there's a barrel with raw wood and a fully carved chair leg on his workbench. Closeup: Comments and critiques welcome!

How to build a Medieval bridge?

I am building a Medieval farm MOC for my Historica guild and I am building a stream next to it and building a bridge over the stream. The dimensions for the bridge is roughly a 12x8. My plan is to make it wooden, so brown in color. I have come up with a few ideas, but just wondering if anyone here has any good ones. Thanks

    MOC: CCCXI A Man's Work

As the sun slowly climbed over the hazy horizon, a lone rooster let out a loud crow. The small, rustic town that lay beneath the great manor was alive with people, bustling to and fro. Small, ramshackle cottages were scattered around the outskirts of the village, and farmers and serfs came one by one from their doors, headed towards the fields. A smiling farmer grasped his pitchfork and small lantern as he pushed open the wooden door of his quaint, rural home. His young son scrambled out behind him, vigorously rubbing sleep out of his eyes. All the while he beamed brightly, excited to join his father for the first time working in the fields. Behind them, within their cottage, the female members of the family worked also. The boy’s mother grasped a stiff wooden broom, sweeping up pieces of thatch from the rough wooden floor. Meanwhile, a younger girl pulled a brewing pot from the fireplace and mixing it with a large spoon. The sun rose higher as the villagers went to work. This is my entry for the CCCXI on Classic Castle, A Child’s Life Category. It’s probably pretty obvious that the style of this build was greatly inspired by Derfel Cadarn and Legonardo Davidy. I've actually been wanting to build something like this for a long time, and I'll probably try it again in the future! Soli Deo Gloria!

  13. Hey, all. It's been a while. I moved during the summer and my Lego collection sat in a cupboard for a while, so I only just got the bug again. After a Technic scale futuristic jet plane last year, I decided on a more 'traditional' architecture-related project this time around. It's early days but I'm doing a minifig scale medieval cathedral in the European gothic style. My main source of inspiration is the Kolner Dom in Cologne but for obvious reasons I'm having to make a few compromises - even at minifig scale, it would be physically too large to fit in my living room! I hit on the idea of doing it in a 'modular' fashion: minifig scale, with more detail than the commercially-produced Castle-era Lego sets but still smaller and made in sections. I reckon it'll be around a third of the size of, say, Notre Dame or Cologne from a minifig's point of view. Photos so far are on Google Plus...I'll add them to Flickr or something when each phase is completed. So far I've worked out the general floor plan, the cross-section shape of the nave and side aisles and the general shape of the buttresses outside. Apologies if any of the technical terms go over you head - I've had to give myself a crash course in architecture and engineering! The question I have right now is about the side-aisles (Re: the cross-section pic below). Church buildings of that era have a big span across the tall central area, but in the larger ones the lower side aisles are each divided into pairs of arches like this. I'm currently working to a simpler design with the side aisles made up of just one arch each, so I'm torn between a more conventional 'three arches' layout that's easier to build, or a more complicated arrangement of five, as in Cologne or Notre Dame. It's something I need to decide before going any further. Thoughts? Advice? Is this thread even in the right forum?? Anyhow, it's good to be back and feeling inspired to build something again!
  14. Here's my latest MOC: Bright sunlight filtered through the intricate stained glass of the Hall’s windows. The cold stone brick walls and floor of the room soaked in the warm illumination. Around the Hall, courtiers stood in small, casual groups, talking of politics and court gossip. Suddenly the great wooden doors at the end of the Hall burst open. A fully-armored knight strode in; the king jumped excitedly to his feet. “Your highness,” the knight said with a bow. “I bring news of the western front. I have ridden all the way from the township of Ellithshire to bring it. The war goes not well! All the countryside is ravaged with brutal warfare. Reinforcements are desperately required!” Breathing heavily from this exhortation, the knight gazed about the room, his grim countenance silencing the many whispering groups of excited courtiers. The crow-shaped crest atop his helmet bobbed up and down with each breath; it almost seemed alive and ready to fly away. After a moment of thought, the king called aloud to the captain of the guard. “Captain! Send messengers to the villages. Issue a call to arms to all military age men. Once they are gathered, we ride off…to war!” The excitement in the court couldn’t be held in any longer. Wild whispers rose to shouts as the courtiers suddenly realized the gravity of this proclamation. The war was no longer just a distant rumble; it had now grown to a mighty roar! ________________________________________________________ I came up with a lot of new techniques for this build, including a ton that I didn’t use. I probably have enough unused techniques to build another throne room. (hmmm, if only there were some kind of contest going on right now that I could do that for…;) Anyway, thanks for viewing! :D Soli Deo Gloria! :)

    Tigelfáh Castle and Town

Hi all, A while back I posted my medieval abbey in this forum. Thanks to everyone who posted there, sorry if I didn't reply to specific questions but I was away at the show and since I came back I have been away a lot with work. I am hoping that this time I can respond to questions in this thread! As I mentioned the abbey was part of a collaborative display created by 8 builders (names are Flickr links): James Pegrum, Barney Main, Luke Hutchinson, Harry Russell, Steve Snasdell, Jimmy Clynche, Tom Coleman and your humble narrator. This display was on show at the Great Western Lego Show in Swindon, which took place in October 2013. The display was approximately 4m by 5m, and due to a cutout area measured 14m2. Although most of us had never met before in person, we had great fun displaying it and enjoyed our weekend. We might even do another display at future shows! Below are a few photos, although a few more will be appearing in the coming days. There will eventually be [Prev] and [Next] links on every photo to take you through them (42 'official' photos) but we are waiting on a few people posting theirs so please be patient! 16. Often it can be difficult to decide what I want to build. The Collectible Minifigures theme has brought many interesting historical minifigures. Last year I have built a large Greek layout for the Spartan from series 2: http://www.eurobrick...89#entry1533491 After I had finished the Greek layout I thought a lot about what I should build next. Should I build a Roman layout for the Roman minifigures? Or should build an Egyptian layout for the pharaoh? Or a 1700's layout with a lot of minifigures with white wigs? I would like to build it all. That's how I got the idea to build this MOC: Ancient Egypt: Ancient Greece: Ancient Rome: In the background: Colosseum The Viking Age The Middle Ages: The Renaissance In the background: St. Peter's Basilica in Rome: The Late Renaissance: In the background: Rosenborg Castle: The Age of Enlightenment In the background: Fredensborg Palace: The Industrial Revolution In the background: Westminster Palace: Modern Time: The back of the MOC is a world map:
  17. For the annual Swedish LUG "Swebrick" exhibition, we were a few medieval/fantasy builders who got together and made a medieval community build for the first time for our LUG. It was based on modules with different content, for example I built a castle with surrounding water as my module. The build is based on a depth of 4 standard 32x32 baseplates, with arbitrary width of each module. The baseplates are raised 1 brick + 1 plate at the interface between modules and slope upwards on the last baseplate at the back, with no height guidelines within the modules. At the front baseplate, a 8-wide road is centered. The story behind the build was: "The small kingdom of Castonia is in a party spirit, as the annual tournament week is at its peak. All over the country there is a lot of movement, as travelers from the neighboring provinces also arrive to take part in the festivities. During these days there is a lot happening everywhere, not only on the tournament field but also in the town and villages around the mighty castle". Builders (Swebrick nicknames, some of us the same here on EB): Insurrection (forest 2x4), Carl_T (forest 2x4), Gideon (castle 3x4), Anders67 (joust 3x4), Odidoma (crossroads 2x4), Skafte (monastery 3x4), dalle (town 3x4 + mill 1x2), sweMezza (river 1x2 + landscape 1x4). Forests by Insurrection and Carl_T My castle (I will feature this in GoH as well sometime in the future, so there will be more pictures) Joust by Anders67, Crossroads by Odidoma Monastery by Skafte Town and mill by dalle, river and landscape right of town by sweMezza More pictures on flickr
  18. New Era of Weapons by mpoh98, on Flickr 2013 MocOlympics Round 2: Matthew Oh verses Chris Stone and his awesome entry. Category: Brains vs. Brawn What unfolds when athletes and geeks go head to head? Or should I say, arm to head? Build us a battle of mind verses muscle. Who do you think would win? Hey all, Just barely got an entry in! Built it all today (except for the base) after church. Yeah, busy week and 1/2 of school and life (and also a different Avalonia backstory build, will post that soon). If you don't know how it relates to the category, basically, the "Brawn" is the castle, super thick, and impregnable (or they think). But then came along a new era of weapons, with the Chinese alchemists inventing gunpowder, and along came cannons and guns ("Brains"). So I tried new techniques, with using new pieces I got. A big inspiration was Mark Erickson and his (LCC) Restoring Justice creation. Thanks Mark! :D</i> New Era of Weapons by mpoh98, on Flickr New Era of Weapons by mpoh98, on Flickr Soli Deo Gloria! MOC: Medieval Meeting Place

Hi all, this is my first MOC, 'Medieval Meeting Place'. I estimate that it uses about 2000 - 2500 pieces, and it took me about 15 - 20 hours to build over the course of 3 months. I used or adapted a few techniques demonstrated by Derfel Cadarn. The photos aren't brilliant, but hopefully you can get a good idea of what it's like. The full album is here.
  20. My first entry into The Castle Battle Contest over on flickr! This is a great contest, thanks Mark! Finally, I have the time to post it! Built over a period of several months, this is my largest creation to date. Incorporating lots of my favorite techniques, this was fun to build, and see come together. I am extremely pleased that I had enough light bluish gray bricks to build the gateway and the towers. Aidan Frusher helped with the base, thanks a lot buddy! :D Enjoy! (Story coming later. :D ) Soli Deo Gloria!

    My fantasy MOCs

Let me begin this topic with my most recent MOC: It's my first cuusoo project, so if you want to support it, here's the link And here is a small compilation of the other fantasy MOCs I did: All pics are in my flickr gallery. I hope you'll like them.
  22. Hello everyone, I am proud to assist my friends Sered (http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=81940) and Marco Cancellieri in showing the big A Song of Ice and Fire (know as Game of Thrones for the HBO show) diorama that we together presented at the ItLug Latina 2013 Lugfest. Some information about this diorama: it's 288 studs large and 576 long, making it 2,30 m large and 4,60 long. Sered, as you can see on the linked topic, did an oustanding and unflagging work in building Winterfell. That's so plenty of wonderful details that though the many pictures we took, it doesn't do justice to him. Here there are just a couple of pictures, please click on the previous link to enjoy the work he did: or follow the link https://skydrive.liv...5C5BAC70CE1!124 thanking our great friend Yugo Amaryl. Marco Cancellieri AKA The Chancellor, who always likes (and succeeds) to impress, went into another big job and build none other than the WALL (and Castle Black of course) Again, here are some resized pictures, you can take advantage of Yugo Amaryl's shots again to see them in detail: https://skydrive.liv...5C5BAC70CE1!123 Me and my friend Lothard McLotti went into building the Frey's Twin Towers. Nothing like the above, but nice result though: More to this diorama is being built for the next Legofests. As I speak, people is adding wanting to build another piece of westeros... what will this become? Thank you for watching from Italy!

  24. Well people this is my first post showing a moc of my own. The story behind this is that the Queen decides to go for a ride to the countryside with her carriage. She passes in front a cottage and the kid gets out to wave her. This is also my first attempt of building something from the medieval/castle era. What do you think? Any comments are more than welcome!
