110 gun sized ship masts

Hi, I'm currently working on a larger ship project for BoBS. (The WTC NEEEEEEDS a class 10 ) My question is, does anyone who's built large ships have suggestions for the masts? My scale is a bit smaller than @LM71Blackbird's LDD ship, and he uses stacks of 6222s, but that's a little economically unfeasible, and I'm not sure how structurally sound it would be out of LDD. The largest ship build I've seen is the USS Poseidon and it looks like it uses stacks of 6222s, and 80781s but I'd love to know what @shiplover used to make it sturdy. My thought is to use stacks of 85941 rotated 90º on top of each other, with a core of regular bricks, and 6222s at regular intervals. Any thoughts on this, or ideas for how to make large, sturdy ship masts? I'll also add some pictures of how the ship is looking as well tomorrow.
2. Episodelist: Episode I ~ Samson Brody < you are here Episode 2 ~ Fonticulus Episode 3 ~ A Blessing in Duisguise Episode 4 ~ The grotto's Episode 5 ~ Captive of the Mardierians Main characters: Alfie Fraunces, Sea Rats Samson Brody, unaffiliated scientist Captain Le Faou & his comrades Corrington naturalist turned privateer, whom will be discovered in the coming episodes! "Gold? Here on the Crag? This is surely nonsense Samson. You came all this way to find.. to find what exactly?" A stern sea-rat coxswain told Samson Brody in Alfie's Place while drinking heavily: "How do you plan on finding this lake anyway? It'll take weeks to even map this dreadful rocky island." "What a pity, you are not the man nor do you have the stomach to lead an expedition.", Brody told the first mate irritated. "Gold?"~ Alfie Fraunces joined the two, who where enjoying themselves in his cafe. His men already told him about a Corrington-looking dandy who arrived in The Sereen Cay. "Alfie my name is. Welcome on the Crag. You where discussing?" Alfie spoke in Arlinsport dialect, the place Brody originated from as well. Hearing a fellow countrymen Brody answered: "A man of the fatherland, I hear! A fine establishment you run on this island sir. Very nice to meet a countrymen in a place so far from civilization indeed. I was just narrating the chances this island has to offer!" "Here we go again.." said the first mate before sipping his last bit of Trappist beer and leaving. Alfie was quickly interested and invited Brody to his office upstairs. There the two spoke about the legend of the Corrington Naturalist turned Privateer who was last seen on the Rock. The Naturalist was, according to Brody, and old friend of him years back on the university of Arlinsport. The story goes he left this earth and his treasure in a secret cave inside the Rock. A cave hard to find and harder to leave... Since the surface of the Rock was very difficult to enter and to investigate, Brody needed more men. "Hard to enter. Harder to exit. The perfect hiding place for a lifelong earned stash of gold mr. Fraunces! We will surely find whatever is on this island together!" smiled Brody. Little did they know, someone was eavesdropping... The uninvited guest of the conversation knew Alfie was up to something. And this particular pirate was know as capt. Le Faou. Le Faou and his crew where waiting for their ship: which was being repaired in The Sereen Cay after the tsunami in Mesabi Landing. "Listen up boys. We are bored out of our minds here. Today I passed by the cafe and overheard Alfie Fraunces talking to a real fancy lad. I swear they are up to find something and I intend to find out what it is. I say we we follow 'em, wait our time, and put them in the ground after stealing all valuables! Who's with me?" The End - For now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi all and I hoped you like the introduction to a story I tend to build up in the coming months. In this community I value the high regards to quality over quantity accompanied by a good story: and I want to contribute. Landscaping is not my talent and therefore I thought a story in the Rock would be a good place to train my Moccing skills. Architecture I like much more, and I want to try new things as well as good old nostalgic aspects of LEGO pirates, as some here know. So constructive criticism is always welcome and enjoy the story! Much more is coming! An overall view of the last vignette:
3. For the Glory of Corrington! (GoC) - A Faction Enduring Challenge Sometimes it can be difficult to find inspiration for a build or choose a direction for a storyline. Well, fear not fellow Corlanders, here is some direction for those times when you need it! The following are a set of faction endorsed cooperative building tasks to inspire and guide you on your journeys through Corrish territories in Nova Terra. GoC General Rules Builds for GoC tasks should be posted in their own thread with the tag [GoC]. You must also provide a link to your build in this thread. A progress list will be maintained in the second post of this thread. Quality - This should also be an opportunity for you to improve your building skills, so take your time and focus on quality. When presenting your build, designated members of Corrington will award you a if they feel it passes quality standards. Don't worry, we will of course take into account collection size and experience. If some minor adjustments are required, these will be suggested. Two from the reviewers are required for the build to officially count towards the challenge. It is recommended you do not de-construct your build until you receive the required from reviewers in case it requires some adjustments to pass these requirements. - By submitting an entry you agree to receive feedback from the reviewers and will accept their judgement on the matter. - All tasks have a minimum size requirement of a 20x20 (400) stud footprint (or equivalent - irregular bases are permitted as long as they meet the minimum 400 stud footprint). - Other individual requirements will be listed in each task description. Builds that do not meet the task requirements will be rejected. - Only builds posted after 1 January 2019 may count towards the GoC challenge. - Current reviewers @Ayrlego @Captain Dee @Bregir @SilentWolf @LM71Blackbird @evancelt Rewards - Complete any of the below tasks to earn the corresponding IC title for that task for one of your characters. All tasks consist of a minimum of three separate builds (entries). Some tasks will stipulate the subject of each of the three builds and may require them to be posted in a specific order. Others only require three separate builds that meet the requirements. Please read the requirements for each task carefully and ask any questions in this thread. - Each subsequent entry in a task must be significantly different from the last and should attempt to show some kind of improvement from the last, for instance using different techniques or changing the subject matter. NB: In some tasks, there might be specific requirements for the three builds defined. The idea is to glorify our faction, so you should strive to do the best within your own limitations and be proud of every GoC build. Clone builds rushed to complete tasks will not be accepted. - Complete three tasks (total of nine builds) for your main character to become a Knight in the Order of Corrington (OC) and the right to style themselves 'Sir' and use the post nominals OC. eg Sir Fredrick Mercury OC. - Complete six tasks (total of 18 builds) for your main character to receive a honorary Baronetcy within the Corlander nobility. Your new title will be announced by Royal decree when you complete the requirements. An example may be something like: Sir Fredrick Mercury OC, Baron of Feltham - Complete nine tasks (total of 27 builds) for your main character to receive a honorary Earldom within the Corlander nobility. Your new title will be announced by Royal decree when you complete the requirements. An example may be something like: Sir Fredrick Mercury OC, Earl of Finnsbrough - Complete twelve tasks (total of 36 builds) for your main character to receive a honorary Dukedom within the Corlander nobility. Your new title will be announced by Royal decree when you complete the requirements. An example may be something like: Sir Fredrick Mercury OC, Duke of Rhyeshire - Nobility titles will only be awarded to Corlanders. Foreigners are welcome to participate in any of GoC tasks and will be awarded the corresponding title if they complete an individual task; however, they will not be eligible for ennoblement. - A list of tasks is provided below. They do not have to be completed in any order and new tasks may be added from time to time as faction priorities change. GoC Task List 1. Redcoats Rule! Background: The mighty Empire of Corrington is built on several foundations, but perhaps one of the most iconic is the bright scarlet coats worn by her soldiers. With dogged stoicism, Corlander redcoats face the harshest of conditions, are unmoveable in defence and relentless in advance. The sight of the redcoats of Corrington will always strike terror in her enemies! Goals: Show us your redcoats! Requirements: Build three scenes showing soldiers of the crown going about their business in the colonies. Your build must showcase faction troops, preferably redcoats. They could be training, parading, maintaining weapons, guarding supplies, fighting dastardly pirates or treacherous natives (and winning of course!). Alternatively you may choose to build a military building (fort, barracks, armoury etc. Just remember to include plenty of redcoats!). There is no EGS requirement for this task. Your combined builds should display at least two different branches of the army; for example, infantry, cavalry, artillery, engineers etc. Title Awarded: Patron of the Army 2. The Oaken Shield Background: The backbone of Corlander power in Terra Nova is the Royal Navy. Royal Navy warships hunt pirates, raid enemy hideouts and settlements and keep trade routes open. Goal: Ensure Corlander Naval supremacy in Terra Nova. Requirements: Build three warships for commissioning in the Royal Navy, one for each of the three naval armament schemes, Gunboats for the Colonies, Sloops for the Royal Navy, and Cruisers of Terra Nova. A requirement of this task is that the completed build is handed over to the faction for licensing and deployment. Title Awarded: Master Naval Shipwright 3. The Merchant Marine Background: While the Royal Navy has been prominent in keeping the sea lanes of Terra Nova safe, the Corlander Merchant Marine has seen a slow but persistent demise. We cannot allow this decline to continue. Goal: Build up a significant fleet of merchant vessels to bring home the riches of Terra Nova. Requirements: Build three merchant vessels, one if which is offered to the Crown. These vessels should be licensable in the EGS, and must meet the following requirements. In total, your builds must make up a minimum of 12 shiplevels. One ship must be small (class 1-2), another medium (class 3-5) and one large (6+). Additionally, one build should be a historical or exotic rigging type (eg. xebec, longboat, felucca, junk, cog, carrrack, proa, polacre, etc.), one should be a fore-and-aft rig (eg. schooner, sloop, cutter, lugger, etc.), and one should be a square rigged vessel (eg. brig, snow, ship-rigged, galleon, etc.). (The predominant rigging type on a vessel determines the category) Rigging types and sizes can be combined freely. Title Awarded: Shipping Nabob 4. Purser's Network Background: The 'Oaken Shield', or ships of the Royal Navy need shore based support to be able to function and carry out their roles or defending and expanding the Empire. The fleet operates several major Naval bases in Terra Nova and these require constant expansion. Major fleet bases include Arlinsport, King's Harbour, and Port Woodhouse. Goal: Build an extensive naval support and logistics network for the Royal Navy in Terra Nova Requirements: Build a series of three scenes showing how the fleet is supported from ashore. Your scene must be in one of the settlements listed above and must be licensable in the EGS. Ownership must be transferred to the faction. Each of your scenes must be a different EGS licence type. eg. Artisan, Commerce, Factory, Education etc. Some examples could include: Naval hospital, quays and cranes, armoury, ropeyard, sail maker, powder mill, cannon foundry, tavern, cartographers, various industries for provisioning, powder depot, recruitment office, training facilities, storehouses, etc. Title Awarded: Master Purser 5. Higher Education Background: Corrington is known as a bastion of knowledge and learning. Science, mathematics and literature all flourish under Corlander patronage and Corlander schools and universities are world renowned. Thus it is only natural that this passion for education is transferred with Corlander settlers in Terra Nova. Goal: Display Corlander supremacy in the field of education and knowledge in Terra Nova. Requirements: Build a series of three scenes showcasing Corrington's commitment to knowledge and science in Terra Nova. You can complete the following three subtasks in any order. There are no set locations for these tasks. 1. Build a scene showing some aspect of education for children of the colonies. The build must be licensable as an educational property under the EGS rules. 2. Build a scene showing some kind of vocational training in a specific industry or field. For example, a college for engineers or cartographers, an academy for military officers etc. The build must be licensable as an educational property under the EGS rules. 3. Build a scene showing a place for research or higher learning. Examples could include an agricultural research institute, a university college for theoretical mathematics, a chemistry or botany laboratory etc. The build must be licensable as an educational property under the EGS rules. Title Awarded: Patron of Knowledge 6. Sweet, Sweet Corrington! Background: One of the major premises for Corrington settling the new world was access to areas suitable for the growth and harvesting of sugar cane. The settlements of Stormhaven, Port Raleigh and Jameston all have burgeoning sugar cane industries, but the demand in the old world for sugar is insatiable. Alternative sources to cane sugar have even been investigated in Mesabi Landing. Our sugar industry must be expanded! Goal: Expand Corrington’s grip on the sugar industry in the new world. Requirements: Build a series of three scenes in any of the three main ‘sugar’ settlements (Stormhaven, Port Raleigh or Jameston) showing some aspect of the industry. Your three scenes may be in the same settlement, or can be spread across all or some of them. Alternatively one of your scenes may be exploring other sources for sugar (Agave or Stevia) in Mesabi Landing. Your scene could be anything from a plantation, to the storage and processing of the raw product, or any of the products derived from sugar (eg. Rum!). Your scene must be able to be licensed in the EGS. Should you not wish to license it yourself, you may sell it or the faction will purchase it. Title Awarded: Sugar Kingpin 7. Chocolate and Coffee on Cocovia Background: One of the first islands settled by Corlanders in Terra Nova, Cocovia was so named for the abundance of Cacao plants that grow naturally on the island. Indeed the chocolate industry on the island now has a solid foundation and the demand for chocolate in the old world requires extensive expansion. The island is also thought ideal for the cultivation of coffee, although coffee plantations and industry have yet to be established. Goal: To establish monopolies on both chocolate and coffee for Corrington. Requirements: Build a series of three scenes showing the either the chocolate or coffee industries in Quinnsville or King's Harbour. Your scenes must be able to be licensed in the EGS. Should you not wish to license it yourself, you may sell it or the faction will purchase it. Your scenes must be built in the following order and the properties must be constructed in either the settlement of Quinnsville of King's Harbour. 1. Your first scene should show the growing of the raw product (coffee beans or cocoa beans) and must be licensable as a plantation under the EGS rules. 2. Your second scene should show some aspect of processing the raw product. It must be EGS licensable as a factory. 3. Your final scene should show the production or sale of the final product eg. A coffee shop or chocolatier. It must be EGS licensable as either a commercial property or artisan. Title Awarded: Colonial Cafe King 8. The Lotii Connection Background: Port Raleigh hosts a sizable Lotii community – the largest of any of Corrington’s settlements in the Brick Seas so far. These industrious arrivals have quickly adapted to live in the colonies; however, they have also transported much of their home culture with them. Many of their buildings are built in the style of their ancestral home and they have bought with them their traditional artwork, crafts and festivals. NB. The Lotii are based on a generic East Asian culture and previous depictions have displayed both Japanese and Chinese characteristics. Goal: Display Lotii culture in Port Raleigh Requirements: Build three scenes showing inhabitants of Port Raleigh with Lotii background. Your build should display some aspect of traditional Lotii culture which has been transplanted into the settlement. Examples could include teahouses, Japanese style gardens, porcelain production, Oriental style buildings or restaurants, fireworks production/sellers, street festivals etc. There is no EGS requirement for this task (although licensable builds are encouraged). Title Awarded: Honorary Lotii 9. Equines for Elizabethville Background: The rolling plains of the island of Lacryma are ideal for the breeding of horses, indeed some of the finest horses in the new world are from Elizabethville! Goal: Expand the equine industry in Elizabethville Requirements: Build three scenes showing some aspect of the breading, keeping or export of horses in Elizabethville. Examples could include a ranch, stables, racetrack, blacksmith specialising in shoeing horses, saddler, wainwright etc. Your scenes must be able to be licensed in the EGS. Should you not wish to license it yourself, you may sell it or the faction will purchase it. Title Awarded: Purveyor of Thoroughbreds 10. Daily life of the Myzec Background: The Myzec are loosely based on the Aztec civilisation and inhabit the city of Myzectlan, located in a hidden valley on Cascadia. They primarily farm maize, sweet potato and beans in 'floating island' plots or chinampas on Lake Myzec. The meat in their diet includes fish and water fowl/turkeys and dugout canoes are used to transverse the lake. Very few mammals are farmed in the Myzec valley although there are some pigs and goats. They weave cloth from goat wool and produce leather from animal hides hunted outside the valley. A basket ball type game is a very popular recreational activity. They ferment an alcoholic ale from maize. Goal: To expand the lore of the native people in the lost city of Myzectlan on Cascadia. Requirements: Build a three small scenes showing the Myzec people conducting activities from their day to day life. Some examples may include: Farming a chinampa lot, milling maize grain, making tortillas, fermenting ale, fishing, trapping ducks, repairing fishing nets, making canoes, warriors training, producing mud bricks for construction, weaving cloth, tanning hides, hunting in the jungle, making jewellery/pottery, ball games, etc There is no EGS requirement for this task (although licensable builds are encouraged). Title Awarded: Friend of the Myzec 11. Strategic Outposts Background: Some of Corrington's settlements in Terra Nova occupy vital strategic positions for the defence and expansion of the Empire but have little commercial value - they exist primarily to protect Corrington's interests. Hence these settlements tend to be smaller and more military focused. To maximise their strategic importance, they require extensive naval bases, army barracks, fortifications and logistics hubs. Currently, these include Hussar's Isle and Port Woodhouse. Until such time as more purely military outposts are created, the commercial hubs of Spudkirk and Port Raleigh, together with the developing settlements of Wullham and Brickford Landing; which all also occupy strategic locations, will be included in this task. Goal: To build up the network of Corlander strategic defences in Terra Nova. Requirements: Build a scene showing a building of strategic value in each of these important locations. Your building should be military in nature and examples could include: fortifications, quays and cranes, naval storehouses, army barracks, munitions stores and factories, etc. Your build must be licensable under the EGS rules and the ownership must be transferred to the faction. To complete this task you must build one scene in both Hussar's Isle and Port Woodhouse and a third scene in either Spudkirk or Port Raleigh. Title Awarded: Strategic Mastermind 12. Mangrove Madness Background: The settlement of Stormhaven was founded on the Isle of Serentia in the only safe port for over 400 miles. Unfortunately, despite the excellent shelter provided for ships, the location is not ideal for a settlement. Stormhaven cove is covered in mangroves which are almost impenetrable in many places. Properties within the settlement limits are build on stilts above the mangroves and raised wooden walkways provide access between properties. Further inland building is possible on land and some plantations and other properties have been established. Goal: To expand the settlement of Stormhaven Requirements: Build a series of scenes showing the unique aspects of life in Stormhaven. 1. Build two scenes showing buildings within the settlement limits. Your buildings must be in the style of the settlement ie. they must be constructed on wooden stilts above mangroves. Examples (one, two, three). Your scenes must be able to be licensed in the EGS. Should you not wish to license them yourself, you may sell them or the faction will purchase them. 2. Build a scene showing a rural property outside the settlement limits. Your scene should in some way support the settlement, for example it may be a plantation or farm, a lumber yard etc. Your scene must be able to be licensed in the EGS. Should you not wish to license it yourself, you may sell it or the faction will purchase it. Title Awarded: Swamp Magnate 13. A New Haven Success Story Background: The Eslandolan and Garvian invasion of the Isle de Medio left thousands of Mardierian settlers homeless and facing starvation. Corlander efforts to assist were met with fierce resistance from Eslandola and the resulting Nova Malto crisis was resolved by shipping large numbers of Mardierian refugees to the Corlander island of Alicentia for resettlement. Thus the settlement of New Haven was established, populated primarily with Mardierian refugees from the Mardierian-Eslandolan/Garvey conflict. Goal: Assist Mardierian resettlement in New Haven Requirements: Build a series of three scenes showing Marderian refugees settling down to life as Corlander citizens in New Haven. Your scenes must be build in the following order and the properties must be constructed in the settlement of New Haven. 1. Your first scene should show a Marderian family arriving in New Haven, show their initial lodgings and introduce their backstory (where did they come from, what did they do? Did any of their possessions survive? etc. Your build must be licensable as a residence or artisan under EGS rules. 2. Your second scene should show your Marderian Family starting work or establishing a business in New Haven. Maybe they establish a plantation (the Isle de Medio was famous for citrus plantations), or are they a master artisan who opens a workshop? Your scene must be able to be licensed in the EGS. Should you not wish to license it yourself, you may sell it or the faction will purchase it. 3. Your third scene should show your Marderian family celebrating or expressing their culture in their new settlement. Marderian culture is loosely based on Mediterranean cultures such as Italy, Greece or Spain. Perhaps they are celebrating a Marderian holiday, or preparing a traditional Marderian meal. The choice is yours! There is no requirement for this scene to be licensable under the EGS rules. Title Awarded: Humanitarian Hero Additional Temporary Tasks 14. Bastion of the East Valid until 1 Jul 23 or Queenston achieves City Status - whichever comes first Background: Corrington has long coveted the large island known as Arlintina at the far east of the known map. Finally, a small colony has been established on the southern coast of Arlintina. With vast open floodlands perfectly suited for sugar cane cultivation, rumoured mercury deposits and a bay large enough for ships of all sizes, Queenston is full of potential! Goal: Grow Queenston into a self sustainable city from which to project the glory of Corrington! Requirements: Build 3 properties that show Queenston as a growing settlement (must be licensable under EGS rules). Of the 3 builds, you may keep 1 as a personal investment, but 2 must be sold to Corrington : 1 to Queenston; and 1 to the Crown. There are no property size limits, Corrington will pay ×2 the licensing fee for the purchase of your builds. All builds must respect Queenston's aesthetic (see settlement page for examples/inspiration). Tag @Ayrlego in builds to be donated to the crown. 1. As a new settlement on promising land, people from all corners of the Empire have moved to Queenston in hopes of a better life on the new frontier. Build a property that shows what the daily life of these pioneers may look like. 2. Queenston's location offers great access to open floodlands perfect for sugar cultivation. Build a sugar cane plantation to exploit this resource. 3. Queenston is the most easterly settlement of the great Empire of Corrington. What lays beyond the eastern horizon, no one knows. To the south, war with the Lotii rages. Build a scene showing some aspect of the military defences of Queenston. Examples of suitable builds could be a barracks, supply depot, training facility, foundry, military docks etc. You build should include the glorious redcoats of Corrington's military as a major feature. Title Awarded: Queenston Pioneer
4. Oleon's Response by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Charles Clouet hurried along the promenade, praying that his master wouldn’t be too upset by his delay. “Damned fools” he muttered between breaths. “Damned fools should know better, waiting so long to inform me,” he swore as he hurried. Oleon's Response by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Puffing, Charles rounded a hedge just as a familiar, stern voice stated “F3 to G4.” Looking under the pergola Charles saw Pierre Lavalette Genaro, Duc de Vele sitting under the pergola, papers stacked on the table in front of him. Oleon's Response by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr “My lord!” Charles exclaimed with a deep bow as he approached the pergola. “Forgive me. I was unaware of your return until a few minutes ago!” The Duke turned his head slightly to glance at Charles before responding. “Your timing is impeccable. I was just about to send someone to find you. Sit,” he ordered, gesturing to an empty chair. “You know the Major?” “The Major, my lord?” Charles asked. The Duke pointed at his opponent who was busy studying the board. “No, my lord, I don’t believe I have been introduced.” “Major, come here,” commanded the Duke. Oleon's Response by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr After a brief glance at one of his rooks, the Major headed for the pergola. “Major Wolfgang Hochstetter, Charles Clouet,” said the Duke in his typical emotionless tone, not even bothering to look up from the letter he was reading. “The Major is currently in command of the company’s fortifications in Lavalette, Charles is one of my secretaries” the Duke continued. “A pleasure, Major,” Charles said with a bow. After Wolfgang replied, Charles went on “Where does your family hail from, Major. Eranos, perhaps?” “The Major is not from Oleon, Charles” the Duke interrupted, this time bothering to look up. “Major,” he went on, “perhaps you could join us for drinks shortly, but for now Charles and I have some business to discuss. Wolfgang gave a crisp bow before returning to the board to contemplate his next move. “Not from Oleon, but yet he commands our forces in Lavalette?” Charles inquired. “I find foreigners tend to take less interest to Oleon’s internal politics,” replied the Duke. “Now, what is the situation with Fatu Hiva?” Charles froze for a moment. The Duke wasn’t going to like this. “We’re still not exactly sure what happened there, sir. The commander’s report states that the Corrish vessel attempted to enter the harbor, refused to respond to any hails or signals, and showed no signs of distress.” “Were there any other ships she could have been fleeing from?” “According to the report, my lord, there were only the ships at anchor and some small native vessels.” Charles paused for a moment, but seeing that the Duke remained silent, he continued. “The vessel, the Corrish vessel, was cleared for action and her guns run out at the time. She fired on the fortifications which swiftly destroyed her.” “And what have the damned Corries to say?” inquired the Duke. “Nothing as of yet. The WTC’s rag,” “What is their interest in this?” “It was one of their ships, my lord.” “Ah” the Duke said before ordering Charles to continue. “Their paper claims that we are in league with the pirates and that their vessel was simply pursuing a pirate vessel into our port. Baseless claims, my lord. Utterly baseless, and they offer no support for their claims.” At this Wolfgang interrupted. “G3 to D6, and I take your bishop,” called Wolfgang. “H3, E7” the Duke instantly snapped back before returning to Charles. “So they claim that we are hosting pirates in our harbors and use this as an excuse to chase legitimate shipping across the Brick Seas. Have we established what ship they were chasing?” “No, my lord. We have not determined if they had a particular prize in sight. It is the opinion of the garrison’s commander that they were simply hoping to seize some local or coastal vessels.” “And Corrington has no official response?” “Correct. As of now they have remained silent on the matter.” The Duke silently fumed, rapidly drumming his fingers on the table before suddenly snapping. “Damned Corries,” he roared in a rare display of emotion, one so strong and filled with such hate that Chares involuntarily recoiled. “Damn them all! Attacking our forts, our ships! I’ll see the perpetrators hang for this!” While the Duke paused for a breath, Charles quickly interjected. “The report states no Corries survived, my Lord. And if they did, they would be in the hands of the Order by now, seeing how they control that settlement.” The Duke chose to ignore this last statement. “What is our response?” Oleon's Response by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr “Jacque Debussy has penned a letter…” “Do you have it?” interrupted the Duke. Charles nodded. “Read it,” the Duke commanded. After a brief delay to remember in which pocket he placed the letter, Charles pulled it out and read it in full. The whole time, the Duke remained silent, maintaining a steady gaze seemingly into the abyss. When Charles had finished, the Duke remained still for a moment before replying. “Is that all?” “I, I don’t quite follow, my lord” a confused Charles replied. “The response, I mean. Isn’t there something meaningful or are we going to respond to Corrish gunshots with strongly worded objections?” the Duke thundered. “If you wish to compose the response…” “My response would be to send a fleet to these pirates’ homeport and drag their masters out by their toes! I’d see the whole blasted town burnt to the ground!” the duke roared on. “But that would be an act of war,” Charles meekly responded. “And what would you call firing on Fatu Hiva?” challenged the Duke before pausing. “No, no,” he said as he cooled down. “As much as I would like to see that happen, I fear that would require more political capital than I care to spend on this issue, especially considering our potential to profit from it.” “How’s that, my lord?” The Duke simply stared at Charles, his calm, stoic personality taking control once more. “All shall be revealed in good time, Charles. All in good time.” Oleon's Response by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr
5. Of all the islands in the wild Sea of Thieves, the Nest of Thieves was the wildest. Scum from across nations came with their loot to the free port of Bastion and they often spended it the same nights in the taverns and houses of pleasure. Due to this, children born in Bastion did not have a father nor solid family and ended up on the street. Moredechai Fraunces the IVth was an old Sea Rat who never had time to settle down. Only now at the age of 77 his hands became to weak to climb the rigging and he choose to spend his last years in the port which came closest to a home for him. He now spends most of his days training the offspring of pirates, traders and rebels who left Bastion long ago. They trained hard for the BTSC. 6. As Emile was off in Terraversa, and Rene, Henri, and Randall were off protecting Emile and Elise's business interests. Gilbert, William, and Jean were sent to Fatu Hiva to investigate the mysterious islands. They found themselves approaching a fishing village on the white sands of the island. Oh how they wished they could dip their toes in the water and relax. But of course, duty calls. William, the only man of Emile's crew from Corrington, talked to the leading fisherman of the village. "So your fishing provides a great deal for Oleon?" "Of course," the native responded. "We bring in a great deal. But something tells me you're not here to learn about fishing." "Your intuition is correct," William said. "The mystery in thhe island," the fisherman said, his eyes glazing over as he remembered. "The forest is dark. The island can be dangerous." "So we have heard." "So..." Gilbert started to the tattooed man, "what's it like in there?" "Friend," Tattoo answered, "you don't want to know. But between you and me, it's all nonsense. I think it's just some angry people. Nothing like magic." "Do your gods hold reign there?" "Sure, but what have they done for us? Scare and kill people?" he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "I believed we would fight back Oleon. They're not too bad if I say." "You do realize I'm from Oleon," Gilbert said, deadpan. "Well of course. You're not too bad. If anything, it might be wild animals killing people going in there. Maybe it's the gods, maybe it's people, maybe it's animals." "Fishing then?" Jean asked thhe fishermen. "Maybe I'll join when this is all over." "If you survive the island," the older one said. "Excuse me?" "You heard what he said," the one with the atrocious haircut cut in. "That's why we're going to fish. Better tobe there instead of on the island if things go sideways." "Well at least I've got my pistol," Jean murmured to himself. "Want to hear a joke?" the mustachioed soldier asked. "Sure," the younger man shrugged. "Corrington." The younger soldier burst out in obnoxious laugh. "Alright, that was good. Want to hear a joke?" "Eslandola?" mustache asked. "Damnit how did you know?" I took some insipration from the island villages in Assassin's Creed: Black FLag for this one. It's good to be building again as well.
7. If you want to read the first part of my characters story, read the introduction post. "Log of Captain Lothario Fraunces, 28th of June, 618 Me and my brothers Jacobo and Alfie spend some days together in the city of Breshaun. Me and my brother Jacobo came to Breshaun on board of the Fluyt 'The Octopus'. Together with Alfie we enlisted again and had plans to reach the new world to the east, when some of the Octopus' crew members came to me. Crew members: "Lothario, the captain died last night. He was ill since we left Holders Rock but he did not want to tell anyone. We need a new captain and we know your skills on the seas and don't trust the old quartermaster Cedric. He is egocentric and is very stubborn. Lead us in our mutiny!" And so we went to the ship. I challenged Cedric to a duel for the captaincy. Our cutlasses almost broke with every strike. Cedric fought like a bull but his anger prohibited him to foresee my moves and I was on the winning hand, what I did not know was that Cedric companion was below deck, ready to fill me with lead through the hatch. The blast just missed my forehead and blew my hat away. The cheat came out of the hatch to finish the job, but he did not count on my brother Alfie. With one smooth move Alfie threw the cheat overboard: "Go irritate Neptune" - he said. How I already love this guy. The duel with Cedric however, continued. It was not long before I took the upper hand and with a few slashes and thrusts I had him on the ground. We put Cedric on a rowing boat back to Breshaun, The Octopus crew chose me as their new captain. We buried our old captain on an empty beach in LeBellan, said goodbye to the girls in the brothel, took in fresh supplies and headed to the new world. Jacobo (the new quartermaster) convinced the me and the crew to head to île D'Or, for glory, adventure and gold was lurking on that island. What more does one need to convince a bunch of Sea Rats? And so we went." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope you guys like my ship and the story. I checked the shipwright post for building tips and took my main motivation from the replica Dutch Fluyt 'de Batavia'. I will license her as a Class 5. My apologies for the bad photo-shopping, this is not my forte. The name derives from the bow spring: C&C is welcome.
8. Padre Jules François - BoBS SigFig by Ross Fisher, on Flickr Padre Jules François (centre) lands on the shores of the Isle d'Or, ready to root out heresy and burn savages in the name of the Order. Huzzah! The Padre's early life was that of many common clergymen; the younger son of a minor family, he was packed off to a monastery to learn his trade. However, unlike other young initiates into the Order of the Faith, François developed a knack for uncovering secrets that soon got him noticed by the Temple of Hades. Inducted into their ranks, it wasn't long before he was turning heads across the order. Many fear him, some believe they can use him. What remains to be seen is, is the Padre truly pusuing his tyrannical crusade against heretics because of a holy calling, or is there some more devious purpose driving him? Monsieur Gallo (left) is the Padre's able notary, keeping records of interrogations, files on the personal conduct of notable individuals upon the brick seas, and all the proper documentation that a heretic burning requires. He lost an eye in the service of his patron when a particularly resistant subject broke free from her restraints. However, the pension he received in compensation more than made up for the loss. Merde the Murderer (right) is the Padre's able bodyguard and muscleman. Formerly a penal legionnaire imprisoned for garotting his superior officer, Merde has "seen the light" of the Order of the Faith, and has been released into the Padre's custody.
9. And the story continues. I've actually had this one done for about two weeks now, but I'm just getting around to taking the pictures. Comments and criticism are welcome. Previously: Lavalette Inn An Offer Reaching King's Harbour Recruiting Sergeant To the armoury! (Bodi) Lavalette Armory by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr After meeting his old acquaintance, Contre-amiral Lagaufre, Captain Anthony Genaro began walking around the arsenal. Though dwarfed by the sprawling complexes back in Halos, Lavalette’s armory was one of the larger ones in the colonies. Familiar sights and sounds were everywhere as new soldiers received their uniform and weapons while older weapons were maintained and repaired by skilled craftsmen. After walking for a bit, Anthony waited under a balcony looking into a courtyard full of activity. In one corner, a group of grenadiers were ritualistically checking their deadly grenades, carefully inspecting each fuse to ensure that it was still in good condition, of the right length, and properly connected to the grenade. It is a dull, time-consuming process, but one which leaves no room for error, as the slightest mistake could result in one of the deadly spheres failing to explode, or worse, exploding prematurely. Further on in the courtyard, Anthony could various gunsmiths and engineers repairing damaged muskets, a variety of uniformed soldiers going about their duties, and two armorers putting new blades on enough swords to supply a small army. Lavalette Armory by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr “Fancy a new edge, sir?” a voice asked. It took Anthony a moment before he realized that one of the armorers was speaking to him. “A generous offer, but I’m afraid I haven’t long,” he said glancing at the chest full of unsharpened swords. The armrer simply shrugged. “Oh, don’t you worry about those there swords; they can wait, but we can’t have a proper gentleman wondering about with a dull sword now. You’ll become the laughting stock of the whole army!” Anthony laughed as he unsheathed his cheap, five guinea dress sword. “I’m afraid you’re wrong on both accounts, my friend. I’m no gentleman, and I’m fairly certain the a naval officer is already the laughting stock of the whole army.” Lavalette Armory by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr The armeror simply shrugged as he took the sword. “Gentleman, commoner, army, navy… your coins all look the same to me.” As the armorer began putting the sword to his stone, Anthony continued looking at all the activity in the courtyard. “Rather busy,” he remarked. “It’s been this way ever since the 31st arrived from Halos,” the armorer replied, not taking his eyes off his work. “Not that I’m complaining, mind you. A bunch of army gents just coming off their boats, pockets bulging with coins, ah, you’d be amazed, sir, absolutely amazed, by how easy it is to coinvince them to get their sword sharpened,” the armeror continued in a very casual tone, but Anthony didn’t care. After all, it wasn’t as if he needed to exert authority over this man. “They think it impresses the ladies, they do. Fools,” the armorer said the a chuckle. “But not the navy boys, sir. Oh, no! They’re smarter, smarter by far sir!” “And I suppose you’ll be telling the next cavalry man who walks past how they’re the elite, astute soldiers who couldn’t be fooled by the likes of you, eh?” “That’s just what I’m talking about, sir, you’re gone and proven my point! Perceptive you navy men are, able to see right through any flattery!” At this point the armorer held up the sharpened sword. “And equally able, no doubt, to notice the skill that went into sharpening your blade.” Anthony pressed his thumb against the blade. Sharp, very sharp, and a very even job up and down the whole sword’s edge. “A fine job indeed,” Anthony replied as he handed the man a livre. “Very generous, sir, very kind indeed,” the armorer said as Anthony tunred to leave. “And if you know anyone, any sir, who needs some sharpening, just send them on this way.” “Even a Corrie?” Anthony said in jest. At this, the armorer twisted his face. “Alas, sir, the good Lord has blessed me with the skills to sharpen swords and metal, but the dull mind of a Corrie is beyond even my expertise.” Lavalette Armory by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Anthony couldn’t help but laughing, a deep laugh from his belly, as he walked on to the tavern where he would meet Lagaufre. “Oh, I’ll have to remember that one,” Anthony said to himself. “Sharpen the dull wit of a Corrie.” A few more pictures: Lavalette Armory by Capt. 10. A continuation of my main character's story. Jonah is a character by @SpaceJoey86, and it was a real pleasure getting to combine our efforts for this build and story. I do hope to have more of this in the future. Comments and criticism are always welcome. Previously: Lavalette Inn An Offer Reaching King's Harbour Captain Anthony Genaro was pleased to be back in Lavalette. His mission to Cocovia had gone extremely well, the company had rewarded him richly, his landlady was finally paid, and he had just finished his ship's logs. As such, he decided to visit one of his favorite taverns before heading off to the company's offices to drop off his report and logs. He was in high spirits at the thought of finding some fine spirits, but as he drew nearer to the tavern, he became aware of a large gathering, almost a mob, surrounding the building. Recruiting Sergeant by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Finally he got near enough to see more clearly. The crowd was surrounding what looked like soldiers, royal soldiers Anthony thought, and his suspicions were confirmed when he saw the regimental banner adorned with fleur de lis. He was about to ask someone what was happening when a sergeant stood on a stool and began reading from a worn sheet of paper. “Loyal Subjects of the Crown!” the sergeant began. “His Most Sacred Majesty’s 31st Regiment of the Line, commanded by Major Victor du Pont, which has so gloriously distinguished itself in battle, is looking to recruit several men to join its ranks. All clever young fellows who are free and able and ambitious of becoming gentlemen are invited to come forth and meet the recruiting sergeant. Such spirited men who are willing to engage will be rewarded at the end of their term, with twenty acres of land. Each volunteer meeting the qualifications shall immediately receive the Royal Bounty of one and one-half livres and all the rum they can manage, in addition to arms, clothing, accoutrements, and every other requisite proper to accommodate a soldier in His Most Sacred Majesty’s army. Vive le Roi!” “Vive le Roi!” the crowd responded as the drum began a steady beat. Recruiting Sergeant by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr The sergeant began talking to the crowd, encouraging potential volunteers to step forward, but Anthony was too confused to pay attention. A royal regiment in Lavalette? Recruiting? Such behavior would be expected from the company, but not a royal regiment. His only hope at answering his questions was to ask someone in the crowd. Recruiting Sergeant by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr “You, there!” Anthony called to a man standing in front of him. “What is happening?” “Haven’t you heard… sir” a man replied, adding the title upon seeing Anthony’s naval uniform. “I’m afraid I haven’t, mister…” “Jonah” the man replied. “Well, Jonah, what is this? Royal regiments in a company town?" “It’s the Terraversans. They’ve seized our ships and men!” “Zeus’ beard!” Anthony swore. “You’re serious?” “Yes, sir. I don't know the exact number, but apparently several company ships and hundreds or thousands of men are being held hostage." Anthony stood there shaking his head for a moment. The idea that some upstart colony would openly seize ships was simply inconceivable. “If that’s all, I really must report to my officer,” Jonah replied anxiously. “Of course, of course,” Anthony said absently. The story seemed insane, too ludicrous to even be seriously contemplated. But it would explain the presence of royal troops and a fair number of the crowd had some rather unpleasant things to say about the Terraversans. “Wait a minute!” he called out, remembering his manners just before the man left. “For your troubles” Anthony went on as he handed the young man a coin. “And Poseidon’s blessings upon you.” "And may He ever stand beside your ship," Jonah replied with a common blessing for sailors. 11. Concerning volcanoes and hot water springs Log of Fernando de la Izquierda : May the 10th 618 : Arlinsport, Tiberia. "We arrived in The Royal Society of Natural Philosophy of Corrington just a month after we received their kind invitation. The commitee asked me to present our first conclusions concerning the discovery of a volcano mouth and hot water springs along a river near Jameston. Of course, it is a privilege to be welcomed here and the pressure upon my shoulder is high. I hope this presentation will be a success..." Log of Fernando de la Izquierda, after the presentation : "I was very well welcomed by the chairman Don Isaac Montoya himself, and I saw Dirk Allcock sitting at the first rank. It was impressive to see the best scientists of our time listening my topographic survey and they seemed interested in my final conclusion speaking about a possible thermal spot we could exploit near Jameston... I was very pleased to see that those gentlemen were very open minded and ready to help me develop on this point. I will probably finally find a good way to finance my project here !"
12. Dramatis Personae: Previously, https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/160606-sr-fb-the-alois-forever/... A quiet day at the unsuspecting Oleon port... Little do they know that they are about to be attacked...by pirates! Fortunately, not all is lost! The fortress fires its cannons! Or is it cannon? I can never tell when to put an "s" at the end of plural cannon(s). YOU SANK MY BATTLESHIP!!! We're not playing that game! This is BrickseasHammer 1.8K! And what's with these unpainted grey models? I didn't have enough time to finish them before we arrived here...wherever this place is... Ahem...Currently, at The Naval Academy wargame store in Bastion... Who's that? I'm the narrator. No, you're a fake wanna be writer who is too stupid to realize you suck. Er...moving on...Suddenly, Oleon reinforcements show up! Wait! What happened to my turn? You deployed, then I got to move and fire. And now I'm deploying my dreadnought, which can move and attack the turn it arrives. What?! How's that fair?! Here...you can have a yellow cheese slope to represent how cheesy and overpowered this unit is. My dreadnought fires it's flame attack on the nearest sloop. Meanwhile, my Dreadnought's sorceror hero captain casts a time warp spell on the sloop that was already on fire from my fortress attack. There's magic in this game?! And flame attacks?! And...er...the ship that got time warped...that's not a sloop...that's a Goliath class ship of the line with 84 cannon...or is it cannons? I was just using the sloop model. You're using a proxy model?!?! Hey, these models are expensive and I'm just a graduate student! Just be glad I didn't resort to using rocks and pebbles! Anyways, it got time warped and it's your only unit, so you lose a turn. Now, I summon a sea dragon which uses a freeze attack! Of course... And you've lost your last ship. Good game. Whatever. Hold on a second. Based on the previous post, weren't we supposed to be sailing somewhere so you can do some secret thing to win over that idiot, Alois? First, Alois is not an idiot! Second...that's true. I wonder why we stopped at Bastion to play this game? Because I felt like it. Aaaaand that is why you suck as a writer. The MOC for that story is even finished! You uploaded onto Flickr last month! And...er...Harriet, when did you grow a neckbeard? Comments and criticisms are all welcome!
13. One of the more unusal exports from Isla del Diablo is the particularly potent venoms of the island's arachnid population. Of course, obtaining said venoms firstly requires finding the spiders, which means venturing out of Haven and into the dangerous wooded portions of the island. Quite a risk, but the hunter's patrons pay well... ...especially, of course, the House of Spiders.
14. Dramatis Personae: Previously, https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/158702-sr-mrca-welcome-to-the-jungle-part-3/... Currently, somewhere on the high seas... Yes...with The Alois Forever, the most advanced ship in the entire Olean navy, I will finally bring my precious Alois back to the Olean cause...and make him mine. It's just another stupid microbuild! The stupid face who writes these idiotic posts not only can't write, but doesn't seem capable of building a sailing ship at minifig scale! It's not just a microbuild! It's named after my dearest darling Alois, and has 100 points in every stat...it's the most powerful ship in the Olean navy! And wait...what are you doing here? Since nothing interesting happened in the latest Trade MRCA to my stupid advisor and her students, the stupid face pombe jerk wad writer decided to post something about your stupid quest for Alois. And for some moronic reason, he thought adding me to your story would be funny. I can't even explain how I'm in two places at once; I told you his writing sucks. And how is a ship with a 100 points in every stat even allowed in BoBS?! Ha ha! My true naval genius is revealed! I can use ships with whatever stats I wish, so long as I don't license them! Ha ha! You mean the ship is useless since it can't participate in the MRCA. A minor detail. Captain, shall I have her detained and moved to the brig? What?! No, Helmut, leave her be. We'll have her witness my master plan as it unfolds. She'll see when we arrive at our destination. Great. Where are we headed? I can't reveal that, yet. Why not? It's not like a single psychology graduate student is going to overwhelm your ship with 100 Crew points...though the max stats according to the rules is 12. No, it's a separate MOC and will be posted as a separate freebuild to maximize the doubloons we get. You'll see it then. I have no words. To be continued! And additional photos can be found under the spoiler, including how the base for the ship was constructed! Comments and criticisms are all welcome!
15. This is a build I made to explain what Genaro was doing in King's Harbour prior to arriving at the ball Bregir hosted. Comments and criticisms are welcome. I would also like to thank Bodi for his assistance with the French. Previously: Lavalette Inn An Offer Reaching King's Harbour by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr King’s Harbour was hardly the type of settlement a Oleander could feel at ease in. Though a Corrie might disagree, any Oleander could tell you immediately that the culture, if you could call it that, was lacking at best, architecture placing utility over beauty, and no Oleander would consider the settlement’s shrines to be a substitute for a proper temple to the gods. The culture, if you could call it that, was lacking at best, the architecture was focused on utility over beauty, and they didn’t even have a decent temple for mariners to thank Poseidon after a safe journey. But by far the most uncomfortable part was the lack of respect the Corries held for one’s rank. Oh, it isn’t as bad as those republican greenies, but Corries have some truly disturbing ideas about equality and fair treatment. Despite these shortcomings, Captain Anthony Genaro wasn’t too disappointed at being in the settlement. After all, the Corries were decent scientists and he was anxious to see the latest chronometers. Perhaps if he was lucky, Anthony would manage to find a few good books on history and archeology. But all that would have to wait for now since Captain Genaro was presently escorting a RNTC lieutenant-directeur to the workshop of Thomas Brickcomen. There really wasn’t any reason for Anthony to be there other than the fact that he was a naval officer and Capitaine de Frégate, and the RNTC official thought it would impress the Corries. Reaching King's Harbour by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Anthony and the official approached the workshop and were quickly greeted by Thomas Brickcomen at the door. After a proper introduction and some pleasantries, they entered the workshop and went to a table buried under plans and papers. The official pulled some papers out of his coat and began opening them on the table while Anthony simply starred at the meaningless diagrams. Despite his best efforts to appear interested, Thomas quickly realized that Anthony wasn’t overly concerned by the discussion. Reaching King's Harbour by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr “Captain, I don’t believe we’ll be needing your assistance for some time, sir,” said Thomas, the RNTC official nodding in agreement. “Perhaps you would prefer to step outside? I always find the fresh air to be much-needed relief from the air in here.” “I certainly have no desire to be in your way, gentlemen,” Anthony replied a little too eagerly. “And I would be most interested in seeing that contraption in front.” Anthony stepped outside, relieved to be free from that dull technical chatter and smoked, filled air. He looked towards the strange contraption that the assistants were working on, and while Anthony couldn’t make out the words, he could tell that the men were struggling to get the device to work. Perhaps the idea was simply impossible or perhaps the fates decided the time was not yet right for such a machine, but before Anthony could ascertain the cause for the men’s frustration a Corrish officer rode up, dismounted, and headed directly for Anthony. Reaching King's Harbour by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr “Monsieur Capitán Anthony Genaro?” the officer inquired. Anthony paused for a brief moment, contemplating how to respond. "Et bien, monsieur, je m'appelle Anthony Genaro, je suis un capitaine de frégate, mais je ne vois pas pourquoi vous vous tenez à m’insulter, sashez que je ne suis pas un simple lieutenant. Peut être dans votre langage, ‘capitaine’ est un titre approprié, mais dans le mien, il serait plutôt ‘commandant’,” replied Anthony knowing full well that it was unlikely the Corrish officer would understand half of it. And although he was supposed to behave, Anthony simply couldn’t resist the urge to bedevil the Corrie. “Vou set Anthony Genaro, oui?” the Corrie replied hesitantly. “Oui.” “Si vous pley, Monsieur Capitán, eh, jay un lettre pour you de,” the officer said, stumbling and becoming more frustrated as he went on. “Perhaps, mister officer, you would allow me to practice my Corrish?” Anthony interrupted in a compassionate tone. He had his fun with the poor officer and couldn’t help but feeling a little sorry for the young man. But more importantly he had no idea what the man was attempting to say. A quick look of relief flashed across the Corrie’s face. “Yes, sir. Certainly, sir. If you please, sir, I am here to deliver a letter to you from Colonial Governor Johnathan Cooke.” Reaching King's Harbour by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Anthony was surprised to hear this. He worked with Corries in the past, most recently while he commanded a joint anti-piracy squadron, but the name Cooke was unfamiliar to him. “Have I done something wrong, committed some offense?” he asked while he took the letter. “I do not know, sir.” Anthony took a quick look at the fine yet unfamiliar seal before opening the letter, the lieutenant standing at attention the whole time. Reading the letter, Anthony only became more confused and looked at the envelope to confirm that he was in fact the correct recipient. “But I do not even know your Governor-Captain. Are you quite certain this is correct?” Anthony asked the lieutenant. “Forgive me, sir, but I was simply ordered to deliver this letter to Captain Anthony Genaro of His Most Sacred Majesty’s Hired Ship Espirit Stephanique. I know nothing of the contents, but I would certainly convey any message you may have to my superiors, sir.” “No, no, that will not be necessary,” Anthony replied, looking at the letter once again. “I shall be most happy to attend.” “Yes, sir,” the lieutenant replied, remaining at attention. Anthony was about to return his gaze to the mechanical contraption when he realized the lieutenant was still standing there. “Is there something more, mister officer?” Anthony inquired. “No, sir.” Anthony looked at the officer with a quizzical expression before the officer continued. “Am I dismissed, sir?” “Ah, oui, of course, go, go mister officer.” The lieutenant gave a sharp salute that Anthony returned by slightly lifting the brim of his hat. After this, the lieutenant crisply turned, and remounted his horse before riding off. Oh well, Anthony thought to himself. This whole event was most confusing, but at least there was some comfort in the fact that at least one Corrie had a proper understanding of rank. Here are a few more pictures showing details of the build.
16. This is the continuation of Bodi's Capture of Gregory Decker. Comments and criticism are welcome. The capture of the infamous Gregory Decker resulted in a great hive of activity in La Royal. A variety of nations began requesting Gregory be extradited to face punishment for his crimes, each request requiring diplomatic poise less the denial result in a international incident. From there, the admirals had to determine where to hold Gregory’s trial and subsequent execution. Many proposed Porte du Tatarus, the notorious execution dock in Granoleon, but ultimately it was decided that Gregory’s death would receive more publicity in New Terra where his reputation was widespread (back in Halos, he would simply have been one criminal rotting away amongst many). Once these decisions were out of the way, the trial began. Each day for almost a week, Gregory was brought before a panel of captains where the evidence was presented, former shipmates confessed to their wrongdoings in hope of some semblance of mercy, and the full nature of Gregory’s crimes was officially recorded. Throughout it all, Gregory remained defiant, cursing and threating his crewmen who betrayed him and seemingly unaffected by the beatings he received for speaking out of turn. But all that was different now. Unsurprisingly, Gregory was found guilty on every charge, and the senior captain set a date for the hanging. To ensure enough time for the news to spread across the region, and more importantly to allow for the convoys to arrive so that their crews could witness the punishment, the date would be several weeks in the future. The End of Gregory Decker by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Finally the day came. The courtyard of Mont Michael was crowed with civilians and sailors, officers and officials lining the terrace’s edge. The audience was eager, and they didn’t have to wait long. Soon after the commandant appeared a door opened, and a frail image of the once-feared Captain Gregory Decker appeared between two guards. He was weak, sickly, and retreating from the sun’s rays, dressed in nothing more than rags. Still, he remained defiant, spitting and cursing at the priest who offered one final chance to confess his crimes and perhaps be saved from the worst the afterlife had to offer. The End of Gregory Decker by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr As Gregory was marched to his fate, the crowd became more enthusiastic. It wasn’t every day that a famous pirate was brought to justice, and Gregory’s notoriety resulted in all sorts of rumors. Some claimed that Gregory’s allies would mount a daring rescue and save him from the gallows at the last moment, others believed that Gregory had mystical powers that would save him from death, but the vast majority of the crowd was simply interested in seeing justice served. The End of Gregory Decker by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr The End of Gregory Decker by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr The crowd became quiet Gregory climbed the gallows’ stairs. The noose was placed on the pirate, the hangman took his place, and an official read the verdict and sentence. Drummers began a drumroll, the hangman pulled the lever, and a loud cheer went up from the crowd. After a short while, the lifeless body was removed, once again to deafening cheers, and taken away to be branded with two P’s (one so the judges of the afterlife knew of his guilt, and the second so the judges knew he was unrepentant, as is Olean tradition). Almost as soon as Gregory’s body was removed, the door to the prison opened again and more pirates were lead out. A full third of Gregory’s crew had been sentenced to hang. It was an unusually high percent, but La Royal was looking for an example to be made, and no one in the crowd was complaining. The End of Gregory Decker by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Additional Pictures can be seen in the spoiler:

19. Captain Genaro

Lavalette Inn

I've decided it's about time I continue developing my naval character's story, and I'm very pleased with how the build turned out. As always, comments and criticism are welcome. The Inn by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Captain Anthony Genaro walked down the road distressed. Once again, the only letter waiting for him at the port admiral's office was from his brother. Nothing from the admiralty, no news of a command, and to make matters worse there was still no word on when the payroll would arrive. At this point, he just wanted to return to his room without any further disappointment, but as he turned one last corner before reaching his inn, he saw that wouldn't be the case. The Inn by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr “Captain Genaro!” Abigale Fisher shrieked, her bulky frame filling most of the door, when the young officer was a few steps away. “Do you have any idea what day it is?” “And a most good and holy day it is, no doubt,” the Captain replied, knowing full well what Abigale was after, but doing his best to avoid it. “Today marks six months, Captain, six months,” she continued, hands firmly planted on her hips, her stone-cold gaze unyielding. “Six months since I’ve seen a penny of rent out of you.” The Inn by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr “Good lord, has it really been that long? Well, I for one will be sure to write to the port admiral and complain about his inability to maintain a steady schedule for the payroll ship.” “Don’t you dare give me any of that today, Captain, I don’t want your jokes.” Anthony gulped as he began racking his brain for the right response. He could stare down a Ship of the Line in not more than a brig or be the first to board a galley of bloodthirsty corsairs, but none of that mattered now. “Well?” Abigale asked. “It’s just… well, you see times are tough for a poor officer on half pay,” Anthony meekly replied. “I’m barely scrapping by as is. But on my honor, as soon as the payroll arrives,” but Abigale interrupted him before he could finish. “Oh, good. I’m sure my creditors will be happy to take your good will and honor in lieu of gold. Oh, sure, I’m certain that’ll keep me out of debtors’ prison.” “But what would you have me do?” Anthony cried out, desperate for some way to pacify his landlady and get back to his room. “Surely your sword or medals would be worth a few month’s rent,” replied Abigale, her cold stare unchanged. “Why, an excellent idea, Mrs. Fisher. Let me just take a look in my trunk...” “Oh, no you don’t, Captain! I know you haven’t got anything in there!” Abigale exclaimed. “You’ve got a perfectly good medal on your hat and a perfectly good sword in your belt.” “Well, surely this can wait until tomorrow,” Anthony pleaded. “No!” “But it’s late! Surely you don’t intend to let me spend the night in the streets!” Abigale just stood in the doorway and stared at the captain. Then, without another word, she turned, entered the inn, and slammed the door shut, leaving Anthony alone, cursing his current situation. “Gen?” a familiar voice asked. “Anthony Genaro? By Zeus it is!” The Inn by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Anthony turned to the voice and immediately cheered up. “Paul Laforge, you old devil!” he exclaimed upon seeing his old shipmate. They served together as midshipmen in the peace and both were commissioned as lieutenants on the Mars during the Juniper War, but Anthony hadn't seen Paul for years. He immediately ran over and kissed each cheek in the proper Olean greeting. “How have you been? How’s Marie?” “Fine, both of us just fine, thank you,” Paul replied. “But it appears that you’ve seen better.” "Ah, it's nothing, just waiting for my next assignment," Anthony said. "But what's this? Don't tell me you've sold out?" "Alas, I'm afraid I have" Paul chuckled. "Half pay simply didn't suit Marie, but I was able to get one of the company's ships. Nothing like serving the Crown, but by Zeus do they pay well." "And it appears you ate most of it" Anthony said with a playful jab at his friend's increasing gut. "Well, Marie is quite a cook. Speaking of which, perhaps you could join us for dinner?" "I'd hate to impose..." "Come, come! I won't take no for an answer!" "Well, if you insist," Anthony replied, not requiring much encouragement to enjoy a free meal with his old friend. The Inn by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr

21. Special Elections for the Prio Sea Seat in the Colonial Council Recently, Mehit have seen the arrival of many Eslandolan vessels and men. It was finally time to launch the reconstruction works in the Native ruined village and Eslandola prepared a bunch of good workers to help the natives. It is here, in this buzzing activity that 3 characters stepped in front of the temporary house of the chief in charge of the reconstruction with a paper in hand. The holder of the paper was well known by the Mehuãtajir people because he is their actual Chief Apulo and now is fairly newly named Mayor of the Settlement of Mehit in name of the Crown of Eslandola. The lady dressed like an adventuress, is Lady Condora, an officer of the MAESTRO Green Messenger Agency in Trador and she just announced by letter the nomination of the Chief Apulo as Mayor of Mehit. Finally, the 3rd character is a man of science and is coming to helped the people in need here in Mehit : He is known as The Doctor Ayuda, a well reknown Doctor in Fuerte Unido. So, the 3 candidates took the time to speech to every worker in the Mehit construction site this morning. "Hear ye ! Hear ye ! By this present words, we, Chief Apulo, Doctor Ayuda and Lady Condora, are proud to announce our will to run for the Seat of the Colonial Council in the name of the Prio Sea Region ! We are here to offer you the best representation we can in the Colonial Council by : Firstly, making enter more natives in the Council, in order to encounter other tribes and create at term a Great Native Alliance inside the Eslandola Realm, the only Halosian realm that integrates New Terran Natives and treats them as Brothers and Equals. Secondly, develop the Mehit Settlement by speeding up the reconstruction. It will be by gaining more attention and more money from the Council. Thirdly, develop the communication routes the Green Messengers from MAESTRO are discovering to accelerate the in and out of important letters and news to the Council and to the Capital. This will be by building more fast ships and develop shipyards in our Region. And Finally, make sure that every citizen in Eslandola colonies, being New Terran native or Halosian, has a roof upon his head and good healthy conditions to live in our territory ! We are awared about the heavy task we will face and are ready to assume this responsibility ! Made in Mehit, the First of February 618." This is my build to officially present my mayor for Mehit and to present my team to the Special Elections for the Prio Sea Seat in the Colonial Council. Here is a better shot of the team itself :

23. Era 2 Chalenge 1 Cat B2: A Volcano Extract of the personal log of Fernando de la Izquierda : "After a little ascension we managed to understand where the smoke was coming from. Our men helped us to build some little wooden platform (with, again, grumblings from Bernardo...) to reach the edge of what appeared to be a volcano mouth !" "The chimnea itself is not very high nor large and could be a small part of a bigger lava network running underground. It would explain the discovery of hot water pools in the vicinity... The lava is slowly running to the river downside through a breach at the south part of the chimnea and seems not very fluid. It is surely indicating a regular but somewhat calm activity. Well, for a volcano, of course... But no risk to see the island explode on a big eruption here..." Here is my 2nd entry on Cat B. It is linked to my first entry and they are built to be one next to another. In the spoiler I am showing the 2 builds together :
24. Era 2, Challenge 1 Cat B 1 : Dangerous flora and new species Extract of the personal log of Fernando de la Izquierda : "Our progression through the jungle of Celestia was difficult but we managed to follow the stream of a river for few miles now. It eased our walk for a while. Of course, Bernardo had found the way to grumble after every new plant or dangerous situation. His last recrimination was after a carnivorous plant that tryed to eat Sancho Panacea. Obviously, no need to worry for my man ! He swiftly unsheathe his sword and the carnivorous plant was no more than fresh wood for our next fire." "Suddenly, our scientist, el senor de la Verdad, took me appart of the carnivorous plant action to make me remark a strange flower. He said it was an authentic Cactae Purpurescens, a totally new variety of flower. The flower is a normal cacti bush at it start but with a solid appendice presenting a purple petal base toped by a florishing brilliant carmine head where the reproductive parts of the plant are. El senor de la Verdad decided to cut some samples from the flower and we continued our way to the high spot we've seen smoking earlier. We are expecting to discover the origin of this smoke on the top of the next highs..." This is the first part of a 2 entries build. The second part can be found at my Cat B2 entry ! I hope it is not against the rules, as each build is 32x32 and clearly shows 2 different features. In the spoiler I am showing the 2 builds linked together :
25. Challenge I Cat A : The Colonist Inn, Jameston Extract of the personal log of the Eslandolan explorer Don Fernando de la Izquierda : "When we arrived in Jameston after a terrible trip by boat where we nearly sunk by three times, the main reason we arrived so late in town by the way... Well, When we arrived in Jameston, we took our quarters in the fancy inn called the Colonist Inn. It is a very nice building with all the best Corlanders commodities and not frequented by smugglers and pirates of all kinds... The success of such a fancy arrival was due to our donator, el Senor de la Verdad. This Gentlemean scientist made his classes in a Corlander academy during some years and knew who to contact to prepare comfortably our arrival. I wished he had known also some good navigators, our trip would have been better... Anyway, We settled in this fancy Inn with our team composed of el Senor Diego de la Verdad, our scientist in chief, of Bernardo, his always grumpy servitor, of Sancho Panacea, my own first man, a veteran of the Mardieran war, very talented with a sword, and of course, Myself, Don Fernando de la Izquierda, Gentleman explorer." "Our arrival was marked by sailors songs and some drunken singing men... Strange fact for an Inn of this standing... We had to gather around little tables in front of the bar... once again, not what I was expecting of such establishment... And finally, Bernardo had to grumble against the owner to find a fourth chair available... We learnt by the owner that Jameston was invaded by too much adventurers and scientists in seach of the marvelous orchid, so he would not be able to give us all the attention he usually gives to gentlemen of our rank... Our delay made us begin on a bad starting point ! Well, at least, he had food and rooms for us to prepare our expedition." The Team : Don Fernando de la Izquierda : Noble man of Eslandola, faithful to the crown and Explorer in chief : El senor Diego de la Verdad : Man of science, formed in Eslandola and Corrington academies, he is interested in all kind of mysteries the Nature offers : Bernardo : The grumpy servitor of Diego de la Verdad. Fernando secretly wishes him to be tongueless, just to stop hearing his constant recriminations : Sancho Panacea : The first man of Fernando de la Izquierda. He is really skilled with a sword and his strenghth compensates his lack of judging : This is my entry for Cat A. I hope you'll like it ! And thank you Gamemasters for extending the deadline and for the good work !
