    Special Anniversary Sets?

Returning BIONICLE fans will remember the Toa Haga that came out in 2005. They possessed the Metru build and were originally intended to be the "normal" forms of Toa Duma and Toa Nidhiki (their apperances being painfully obvious leftovers of what could have been). They were released to celebrate LEGO's 50th aniversary, and were instead made into the Toas Iruini and Norik. These sets brought cool recolors of existing pieces, and whole new pieces that would be used in later sets (Norik's mask+ the armors and Iruini's mask respectively) What if a similar concept were applied with the new LEGO line? Take something from a previous year, and put it into an alternate style. More CCBS-inspired modernizations of older sets perhaps? This could be a cool throwback to Old Bionicle, even in the event of a reboot (if handled correctly). This thread is mainly for fun to wait til we find out more at NYCC. What few (because we wont see every character come back) sets would you give a remake of in an anniversary scenario, why, and how would you do it? (actual designs down to the piece count are cool but not required) My ideas: I touched on this in the 2015 thread, and it met some criticisms: Vezon, the Traveling Thief Named in a style similar to "[Name], the [Title]' we have with the new Toa. My reasoning for Vezon is that he is an old-plot character that has an easy enough way to explain him getting a brief cameo or mention. There are certain things about his original design that could look really cool in CCBS, and could bring us some interesting new parts. (Please at least read "Incorporation with the Plot") Build: Major New Features: Incorporation with Plot: So: Me and someone else in the 2015 thread mentioned Takanuva. He could totally be justified on similar lines to Vezon and it isnt too unlikely that he wont be a member of the new Toa team or that there could already be plans to make him a Titan. EDIT: Fix some copy/pasting seams and my Vezon writeup

    Bricklink and the CCBS

So I've been using Bricklink quite often since I got my debit card a couple of months ago. I love it, it's a fantastic service! But I've noticed something about how they list parts in the CCBS. They title the parts' entries as "Hero Factory XYZ", much like Technic parts are titled as "Technic XYZ". Now while it makes sense that this is the case (Hero Factory was the first CCBS line), I feel that now, the CCBS is much more universal than just being "the Hero Factory system" - especially now Hero Factory is (as far as can be foreseen) dead and gone. So in that case... Shouldn't CCBS parts be listed as "CCBS XYZ" now? Well, I've contacted Bricklink through their helpdesk on this subject. Here's what I wrote: Do you guys agree with my sentiments? Or do you think I've gone overboard with my nerdiness?
  4. Can't believe that this hasn't been a major topic before. Heck, it might've been, it's just been buried under other things since then. Nevertheless, what is your favourite combiner? I'm not asking for the best one, because clearly, that is Gaardus! Don't deny it, he is a work of art. As for my favourite... Well, I rarely got enough sets from a wave to build a complete combiner. I certainly never acquired enough titans to do so (And if I did, I wouldn't have dismanted them to build it anyway. My titans only get dismanted when I cannibalize too many parts to repair them) So my favourite is actually Bohrok Kal Kaita Za. He was the first one I had all the components for, but even then, I could work out what went into him just from the picture of the completed model in the back of Tahnok Kal's instructions, so I built him before I even got the arms, with Gahlok and Lehvak replacing them. Once I did have him complete, he was just fun to play around with, and easy to return to his unmerged form. However... Lava Hawk is adorable. So, what's your favourite?
  5. https://www.flickr.com/photos/114035403@N02/sets/72157648135061166/ A rogue Toa of erosion, Zambor has the mask of foresight. He is the last surviving member of his team, the Toa Troma. Previously a dark hunter, he has become a full-time mercenary employed by Skakdi warlords. He lost his eyes in an unfortunate shmelting accident. First Toa by me.

This matoran staunchly defends his hometown from violent rahi under the Makuta's influence. His name is Naiit. 10. So, it's been mentioned that originally, the heroes for 2008's storyline were going to be the Toa Mahri in new bodies. Do you think the Toa sets would've been any different if they had been designing them with the Mahri in mind, or maybe that the Phantoka/Mistika are more suited to be the Mahri?

    MOC: Crab Beast

Look guys, I made a HF MOC! This fellow is extremely originally named Crab Beast. I wanted to make something to fit the current HF theme... For some reason, I don't know why. Probably because giant humanoid sea monsters are cool? Or because I always wanted to use that cool marbled Carapar head? And the Dinosaur heads as pincers? No when I think it, "The Mollusked Menace" would have been better name. But at least this has HF vibes on it. Some more babbling on Cyclopic Bricks as usual. I like feedback, by the way. Feedback is nice. Anyway, enjoy.

    Makava (MOC)

MAKAVA. Makava is a very strange Toa. Not much is known about his origin, but according to him the first thing he remembers is a vision of an immaculate white boardroom, surrounded by 'set designers' talking about whether to release him as an 'exclusive set' or not, but in the end he was dropped, at which point he suddenly woke up in a cave with no memory of the rest of his life except for one crucial fact: that he was just a character in a popular toy range, and that he was axed at an early development stage for being 'too overpowered'. On that day he also gained a strange voice in his head, which only he could hear. This voice said he was a set designer for BIONICLE, and that only Makava could hear him because of a mental link between them for some reason. No-one really knows this Toa's element, but Makava himself claims he is "The Toa of fourth-wall breaking", but some Matoran believe he is actually "The Toa of Laziness" as he doesn't really do much other than relax and, in his own words "sit on his fat big behind all day", but occasionally he does help the other Toa protect Mata Nui, mainly to prove to the voice in his head that he is worth producing as a proper set someday. More pictures of Makava looking awesome here! Enjoy!
  13. First Bionicle moc in forever! Please give crits on this jumbled mess! Flickr: https://www.flickr.c...57647822706156/ Obligatory Backstory: Once a simple Wulan technodeacon, Genmpo had been promoted to High Priest before the "Wula War" as the Matoran and Toa escaping their fallen empire of Metru Nui called it. The Wula called it genocide. Eventually, the Wula lost the war against the Matoran and Toa, and retreated into the untapped oasis between Onu-Koro and Po-Koro. Very few are left, and he spends his time with his subordinates searching for golden age technology to replicate. Genmpo doesn't like to be called by his pre-collapse name. He goes by Kikamonto, or Donula Kikamonto, meaning Donula (colorful) Kika (space-dust)monto(priest). Thanks for looking! <3
  14. Welcome yet again to the land of Balfe Nui! After the Toa of the Farside Village escaped from the protosteel worm, they were recruited by the Patriots, a group of Elite Toa. The threat of Nuva and his infected warriors is still there, and the new team must do everything in their power to stop him... This comic was made in 2013. This is the direct sequel to Uprising, so make sure to read that story first! Here are the links to each page: Prolog: Assault Chapter 1: Gathering Chapter 2: Swampland Chapter 3: Heights Chapter 4: Solitude Chapter 5: Renegade Chapter 6: Resurrection Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Epilog Edit: Cancelled due to the limited amount of interest. I hope you enjoy! Made using: Sanyo Xacti S4 and iPhone 5 (camera), Comic Life 2, Gimp 2.8 and Picasa

    MOC: Womba the Stalwart

This MOC appeared pretty much from nowhere, it was not even based on any tablescraps. I just came home yesterday evening (The educatinal period of my civil service had just ended) and I threw some pieces on my Bionicle table together. Womba the Stalwart was born. He might be a frog, wombat, turtle or what. This little guy also gave an opportunity to use some cool parts like Mixel eyes (hadn't use them as eyes before) Laval's shield and feet and KK2 armor pieces. The chest armor is my favorite part of this. I don't know if the techinique is new or used before, but it seems to create an interesting pattern and is surprisingly sturdy, as it's supported by clip plates and a long bar. There's more babble on Cyclopic bricks. Enjoy!

    Why Hydruka?

Who remembers these guys? They formed the second pair of small sets from 2007, and I have to admit that I never got either of them, so I can't really say anything for their build quality. What I can say is that they had no recoloured parts, no new parts, and, story-wise, no personality. They were just Rahi. I can't help but think that they weren't a good choice for the sets. 2007 had, in all likelihood, the best Matoran design. The only real hinderance was the use of Mata arms to allow for the shoulder-blaster, and in fairness, with the parts available at the time, they couldn't have done better (I find that Metru forearms and CCBS limbs can do the trick nowadays). Good designs, nice parts usage, great mask recolours, and they looked much more like upscaled versions of the classic body style than the Metruan did. However, we only got four small sets, and then two of them weren't Matoran. Sure, we got more Matoran later, Sarda and Idris, but they were only available in a larger set, and somehow only got one mask recolour (Was it too much to ask for a blue Huna and a red Ruru?), and were the same colours as the two Hydruka, leaving us without a small Onu-or-Ko-Affialated set for the year. To make matters worse, there were two Matoran characters, Gar and Kyrehx, who didn't get sets, but had small, but important roles in the story. And instead we get these two. All I can wonder is... why?

    MOC: The Wanderer

When fate gives me a large portion of the day to myself, I get to messing with things; Inspired by the recently-leaked pictures of the 2015 Protector sets, I made this: The old Turaga known only as The Wanderer has been traveling the Matoran Universe for countless millenia, never stopping in one place, and remembered by few. Shortly after the final defeat of Makuta and The Reformation of Spherus Magna, he vanished completely. It is said he was last seen in a small southern village, arguing loudly with a Matoran named Velika. The build is nothing special, just a quick duplication of the Protector torso design, and it's intentionally obscured beneath the cape. The head is attached via this piece, and a rubber band hidden beneath the chain clasp holds the hooded cloak (a Knight's Kingdom cape) in place.

    BioSHIPtember Discussion Topic

Disclaimer: This is not an official Eurobricks Community Build, nor is it an unofficial contest. It is a group Flickr project, inspired by the larger Shiptember Flickr group. Here's the basic idea for BioSHIPtember: All entrants build a spaceship in LDD at least 100 studs long, and complete it by October 1st. *If you start a WIP topic, you can link it any time between now and October 1st. I will keep the page updated. The rules are simple: The theme is "Bionicle In Space". Interpretation is left up to the builder. Ships must be at least 100 studs long. Antenna do count. No ships longer than 250(The chances of anyone submitting a ship this long are small, but it'd save time for the renderer). All building must be finished by 12:00 UTC, October 1st, 2014. It must seat at least 1 Bionicle sized figurine. The choice of how to interpret that is up to the builder(Toa, minifig toa, Matoran - all are acceptable). You must post at least one picture in the main BioSHIPtember Group, and a link in your description to your .lfx. Still lacking: 1 person willing to take all of the final .lfxs, and compile them in one giant BioSHIPtember render. BioSHIPtember Group SHIPtember Group
  19. A retired Glatorian of the Jungle Tribe, Kanura! After the Shattering she participated in Arena Matches for a relatively short amount of years before she decided she wanted to be a guard for Agori caravans and expeditions. Her helmet is unique among Glatorian, it's actually connected to her head and flows through her back. She calls it "hair". During her days in the Arena, she used it to augment her headbutt's, this known as her signature move "Hairbutt". Wielding a Vorox-inspired spear with a Thornax Launcher attached and a small throwing dagger, Kanura has become a seeker of adventures. She was the most requested guard for any Agori caravan or expedition but one day she disappeared. She said she was going to Bota Magna and most people took that as a joke seeing as how Bota Magna was separated, but she was never seen again. Did she make it? Did she perish on the way? No one can tell except for Toa Lewa who's about to find out. MOC: Annya

Here's my newest action figure MOC, fightress Annya. The idea was to use chain pieces as, well, chain mail. I think that worked quite well with the plate armor skirt. I went with dark green as I hadn't built many green MOCs lately but I have lot of dark green pieces (green sets were, I think, popular, and I've got or bought lot of second-hand bionicle sets). There's more photos and babbling on Cyclopic Bricks.
  21. Welcome, readers, to the land of Balfe Nui! Follow the amazing journey of a Toa team... but not an ordinary type of team you know. The Toa look like the Toa Nuva - except for their colors, which are all swapped. They have next to no memory of their past when they first awake at a strange, new land... This comic was made in 2012 and the dialogues/text boxes were rewritten in 2014. Is is the first installment in a comic trilogy, which follows the character's development in both skill, mind and their armor styles. Just click on the links below to read each page! Prolog: Awakening Chapter 1: Evidence Chapter 2: Nightfall Chapter 3: Formation Chapter 4: Conquest Chapter 5: Discovery Chapter 6: Destiny (Part 1) Chapter 6: Destiny (Part 2) Epilog: Departure I hope you enjoy! Review: 6934 Good Guy

Let you know that I am not going to like this promo set at all, now we got that over and done I am going to make the review of the 2006 Good Guy that was a Swedish Disney Promotion and it didn't appear in the Bionicle Storyline. Set name: Good Guy Set Number: 6934 Pieces: 16 Year Released: 2006 Here is the Bag and there is nothing new just like all other bags but there is one thing, you see that weapon he have... keep a eye on that weapon. Instruction: The instruction is nothing new just a normal instructions that have the island of Voya-Nui in the background and the build is just like all other but the weapon Is Not The Same As What It's Shows In The Front Of The Bag And On the Upper Right Picture Of The Instruction. I mean did someone find this to bug them because it do bug me, if they what to use the Fire Bladed Piece then make a new picture not the one that used the the piece from the Staff of Disintegration. Anyway the Back of the Instruction just have the Toa Inika and that just about it, the instruction is useless so you can just use the back and put it on your wall or something. Parts: Here are the Parts, to me they are mostly useless but there are 3 black Axle 2 Notched and a Metru Head with it's Trans-Neon Green Brain, so those are really good parts to use for MOCs and you also get 2 extra pieces. If you what to see what the Parts are go to Brain Line to see what they are called. The Set: A: The set is just nothing good, it's bad and mainly only good for parts. The front and back is just flat and boring, you can hardly make a awesome and good poses then just make it look like he needs to go to bathroom Really Badly (know what I should have made a Picture of that, Good Guy going to the bathroom). B: The size make it up to Tahu Mata Leg and it's just a small normal lazy build promo set. Riaso: KILL IT BE IT'S TOO LATE overall this is just a lazy build promo set and just only good for parts but to me most of the parts are useless and I don't know why they made something like this because we have seen some good Promo sets before. So I am going to give this set a 4/10 so I don't recommenced this set unless for parts because they is mainly what it's good for.

    MOC: Lady Liberty 3001

This is a bit older creation from March 2013. However, the color scheme was very hard to photograph, and I didn't post it here back then. Yesterday I was rearraging my display shelves and ended up modding this one a bit, building a stand for some dynamic posing and creating a black "studio" by taping couple of big black papers to a chair. I took the photos today and they ended up looking quite nice, giving an old creation a new life. The creation is Lady Liberty of the future - a giant mecha defending earth from invaders (teenage martians from outer space etc.) More photos here and some old babble here. Enjoy.

    MOC: Killjoy

General Killjoy, a character on Klaanon universe, is the leader of war technology organization The Black Hand, which offered heavy Vahki support during the Great War of Metru Nui. He wears powerful battle armor which is equipped with twin ion catanas, a cannon arm and twelwe shoulder-mouted missile platforms. As most of my action figure MOCs, Killjoy uses SYSTEM, Bionicle and HF parts. I've build this character two times before - in 2010 and 2011. Hopefully the developement can be seen on them... See Cyclopic Brick for more info and Brickshelf (when moderated) for more pictures. Enjoy!
