  1. Brethren of the Brick Seas: Class 7 Rating system of the Royal Navy: 6th rate https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rating_system_of_the_Royal_Navy TOB 11 by Philippe, auf Flickr The hull leans slightly outwards on the side, then inwards. I don't like Tetris on the ship's deck and railing. That's why I built it mostly flat and with few height differences. I want to see curves and as few corners as possible. TOB 07 by Philippe, auf Flickr The captain's cabin is a little wider. Here the hull is built towards the outside at the bottom and towards the inside at the top. TOB 08 by Philippe, auf Flickr Light cannons have been added on the upper deck. Because the ship is wider, the cannons can also be operated. There is enough space in width. These must of course be smaller than the cannons on the cannon deck. TOB 09 by Philippe, auf Flickr Swivel guns are always useful. I moved the main mast further back. A longer row boat was built. TOB 05 by Philippe, auf Flickr I improved the shape of the ship. I like the view from above. I can even see that the hull is getting narrower towards the top. TOB 06 by Philippe, auf Flickr My ships are similar but not the same "learning by doing". Correcting and changing is too time-consuming, changes to the ship's hull have consequences for the entire ship, building a new one is easier. Every ship is a new build with improvements. TOB 10 by Philippe, auf Flickr I'm not entirely happy with the bow of this ship. Maybe I can build the bow differently and better. I don't know, at the moment I have no idea. I like the rest, maybe just small improvements. TOB 04 by Philippe, auf Flickr I like that I can build the ship wider and more realistic with the Custom Hull. The widest point on the main deck 24 studs (included railing). The main deck is from the aft to the forward railing 87 studs (included railing), at the feet of figurehead 96 studs. The waterline is 87 studs. Total length 117 studs. http://www.suave.net/~dave/cgi/scale.cgi TOB 01 by Philippe, auf Flickr It's good that I building digitally. So, I don't have to spend any money for bricks to build a ship that I don't like when it's finished. Sails are just decoration, with real bricks I use cotton sails. Masts and rigging are adapted to the existing sails. A digital build should also look good and realistic. That also includes minifigures. TOB 02 by Philippe, auf Flickr

  3. *Your entry has earned 14 XP* The VFS Sustainer, an MC-190A Battleship, protects Kinyen sovereignty by patrolling the system for encroaching hostile vessels. The agriworld of Kinyen—homeworld of the Gran—suffered greatly under Imperial rule for their rebellion. The planetary government has turned out to be a staunch ally of the Freedom Fighters and Followers of the Force, who share their ideals of peace, kinship, and community living. The blockade at Kinyen secures neutrality by blocking invasions from either the Empire or Republic into the other's space on the Great Gran Run. The Followers of the Force have established a Blockade at Kinyen. (More photos to come! Happy New Year!)
  4. LBSF Demeter: CL V Trade Ship Goddess of grain, agriculture, harvest, growth, and nourishment. Launched today, the latest from the Beauchamp Shipyard, the Demeter is the first ship of the new LBSF merchant fleet. A large well armed merchant, The ship is a balance of strength and capacity, a good utility ship for any occasion. A pair of bow chasers... And some ornate decor... Means you wouldn't want to catch a broadside... But can also appreciate the craftsmanship. All in all, maybe not the best in any 1 category.... But, Captain Lamont, will not be short of work for him and Demeter's new crew.

  6. The last of my micro prizes from Challenge IV, this time a merchant ship: I started out trying to build a different ship entirely (a schooner brig or a barque) and it wasn't turning out how I wanted, so I shortened it a bit, raised the poop deck, changed up the sail plan, and voila, a carrack! All C&C welcome.
  7. Hi friends, For a commission i am building this dry bulk coasters and are sisters vessels. The scale is 1:80 and have around the 23000 parts without the carco. Here is the start of the bow.
  8. Class 7 heavy frigate Esperanza 1 by Philippe, auf Flickr Another MOC from the 21322 Barracuda Ship. This time I built a frigate. Esperanza 2 by Philippe, auf Flickr The middle part was answered to 6 mid sections. There is also an additional mast. Esperanza 3 by Philippe, auf Flickr 12 swivel guns were positioned on the deck. Esperanza 4 by Philippe, auf Flickr There are 20 cannons below deck. 9. My micro prize class 5 is required to fly the black, so I present the Blackjack: It's a MOD of the ship in a bottle, similar to my previous El Genio, but with different style of sails and different color scheme, and some other minor alterations. I'm not sure if the dark orange works for the stern windows or not, but I wanted the overall color scheme to be subdued: Some more pics here: And the ship name will be even more appropriate once I renew my ongoing storyline with the currently-captured-by-the-Lotii Jack and Kate... All C&C welcome!
  10. I have already published all ships in the pirate forum. This means that they can also see people who are not on BoBS. Maybe this will give new members. The court wants, that I also present the ships in the BoBS forum. This is my modest fleet of merchant ships. Out of consideration and solidarity with some people on the crew who are color-blind, the fleet sails under the black flag. In this way, the color-blind can recognize their own ships. The ships transport air guitars, which we swap with other merchant ships for something else. 11. P01 by Philippe, auf Flickr Cannons: 16 Swivel gun: 10 Crew: 40 P02 by Philippe, auf Flickr I have extended by 2 Ship Middles and 1 stud wider left and right. The decks can be removed. P03 by Philippe, auf Flickr I changed the slopes on the side walls to brown, which makes the ship look darker and more frightening. P04 by Philippe, auf Flickr So that the ship does not look stupid, I extended the quarterdeck and the forecastle. I made the quarterdeck a little lower compared to the original. Under the forecastle is storage space. P05 by Philippe, auf Flickr In addition, I wanted to raise the side walls on deck and have space for the boats. If the loading hatch is used, the boats have to be removed. P06 by Philippe, auf Flickr I also made a companion hatch on the lower deck. It only has a ladder, because a staircase would have taken up a lot of space for the canon to be used. P07 by Philippe, auf Flickr So that it fits to the ship I changed the position of the masts. The ship was roughly divided into 3 thirds. In between came the masts. The masts had to continue below deck between the cannons so as not to restrict operation. P08 by Philippe, auf Flickr On the deck I installed Swivel gun. P09 by Philippe, auf Flickr P09A by Philippe, auf Flickr The captain's cabin is now larger. There is space for a large, comfortable bed. It also has a table for meetings or eating. P10 by Philippe, auf Flickr P10A by Philippe, auf Flickr There is room for 16 cannons on the cannon deck. The masts are located between the cannons, this guarantees handling. P11 by Philippe, auf Flickr Because the crew is large, I also needed a good caboose with a big grill. P12 by Philippe, auf Flickr This is the sleeping place of the Navigator, Sailing Master, Quartermaster and Master Gunner. P13 by Philippe, auf Flickr Next to the steering wheel has a compass, hourglass and the ship's bell. P14 by Philippe, auf Flickr It took me a long time for the bow. I tried different variations. 15. As said in the title, something has to be done about my accounts, after having realized that I own only 7 dbs. Luckily, there are 3 ships readily available, I built them many months ago, now it's time to put them into good use. I hope they'll sail safely and swiftly and earn me a bunch of doubloons this turn. Here's one of them: Le Noix Class:4 Cost:300 Range: 4 Maneuvre: 2 Firepower: 2 Crew: 3 Cargo: 5 Hull: 2 Total: 18
  16. A small ship to transport some cargo. I'm going to be honest, I h ate building small ships, just because I don't know what to do/how to design them.
  17. Angus Ferriman won the sloop "The Pointed Dingleweed" in a game of cards. He got some pushback from his new crew on the name, so he changed it to "The Naughty Nougat". They liked that better. --------- Here's my micro ship class 3 earned as a prize during Challenge IV: Rebuilding Terraversa Wanted to try a ship on the new nougat hulls Trying to find more uses for my bazillion muskets. [MOC] HMS Midway

I don't build boats often for the Governors, or Blue Coats if you prefer, but I do on occasion. I actually built this last year, but only just got around to taking photos. Midway Midway Midway Midway It may be one of my best builds yet, it certainly feels like it to me. I am annoyed at that fact, because it is a governor ship. They are easily the third, maybe the fourth favorite faction of mine. Imperials and Pirates being the top two (Not necessarily in that order) and the Governors and Armada vie for third place. Tell me what you think! EKnight

  20. In the early days of the exploration and settlement beyond Terraversa, pirates were plentiful as the lack of armed warships made explorers and merchants easy targets. Her Majesty requested that any individuals and trade companies who would help outfit warships for protection of these new colonies would be rewarded with command of the ship given to a qualified individual of their choosing, and right of first capture of other ships. Since Micah and WETEC had stumbled upon a pirate treasure early in their travels they used these funds to outfit a ship for her majesty. [/url HMS El Bellos was outfitted and set sail in April of 616. The Captaincy was granted to one of the WETEC owners, George Knight. He still captains that ship and has served Corrington well in that position. The ship defended merchants admirably and in February of 617, it was patrolling with 3 other warships, when it set upon four pirate ships. The ships captured the Octavia, and sank the other three pirates. As her majesty promised the Octavia was granted to WETEC as its capture and with some retrofitting it has sailed as the flagship of WETEC. It has been the primary ship used by Micah and Elizabeth when sailing between the WETEC's holdings. However, with a new stronger flagship being produced for the WETEC, and the WETEC merging more under the banner of the ETTC, the Octavia is being handed over to focus more on merchant endeavors. However, Micah has heard that her majesty has need of a ship to move some troops so he is sending her for that purpose. OOC: It has been a while since I have finished anything and this digital build has been a multi year project. I hope to get back to building quicker again, as I enjoy building these stories.
  21. North shore of Tortuga, nowadays. This is the Magnetic North, without the low sails, sailing close on a northwester wind to round the reefs of shipwreck bay... The jib just bursted out requiring a sailor on the bowsprit to cut the sheets. Capt Bluebeard : Hurry up ! You, jailbirds ! Man the working ropes ! Trim on ! Freshwater swabs ! Callaghan : Apparently, he's got a real temper ! Dr Thaum : Sure Callaghan, I need this strong temper at the head of the Magnetic North. Especially for that kind of destination. *** Iauln : We are sailing north, mister Church, and we are sailing 8 knots close hauled ! I love this ship ! Church : Yes, my little man, nice start of the trip. ****** Two years of building, the most of time was wasted on those bloody shrouds ( to the devil with them !!! ) This the less bad render I come up with (for the shrouds). For the ship, I'm quite pleased, and a even little bit proud of the result. Thanks to my friend Charly for the pics (he's a professionnal photographer ) C&C welcome as usual, and there will be a more complete thread on the Pirate MOCs Forum.
  22. The Olean fleet has been blockading the Terraversa since months, despite their best efforts, several Corrie and Eslandian ships have managed to pass through the blockade and landed hundreds of troops on that island, complicating the already complex situation. In response to this show of force, the ministry of the colonnies has ordered a couple of new ships to the Eltina Shipyards, where men were working at full capacity since the start of hostility. Here's one example of the newly commissioned by la Royale. Built for speed and firepower, this class of new frigates, along with other heavy hitters, will help Oleon to maintain its naval superiority. Duc de Boussac on the poop deck, apparently happy with the sailing performance of his new ship. To be licensed as a class 6 ship.

  24. "Well she's not very fast, but she also isn't very maneuverable." Captain Tewton stated flatly. "Wait what?" Said, Master Shipwrite Jean Benoit "Not really much to look at either, though the new paint job has helped... I guess" Tewton continued "This design was used for 100s of years. And these are classic color schemes!" Benoit, between bewilderment and annoyance. "This was a major investment of resources and yard space." Benoit stewed. "I'm just teasing you, Sir. Well I mean, she is sturdy! Thats for darn sure. And man, can she haul some freight! I guess, I get why they used this design for 100s of years, you know, but also why they kept working on it." Captain Tewton was not the most polished Captain in the merchant fleet, but supposedly could sail a sea turtle with his undershirt and had an impeccable record. Perhaps his honesty was appropriate, in fact this was just the feedback Benoit had expected to get, more or less. The new ship would serve its purpose as a merchant well enough. Still though, Benoit had invested a lot in the design of this large Class V Merchant Vessel. "I think she looks pretty good from behind? Those thick lines and short design look good from the back?" Tewton was giggling at something, Benoit wasn't sure what, Benoit looked on concerned that he was laughing at the ship's stern, Tewton caught his misplaced anxiety and put him at ease, "Hey to each their own, my momma always said. Dont worry Sir, its a fine ship, a great crew, and an outstanding Captain... in my unbiased opinion." Tewton couldn't resist though... "And as you say, she has plenty of room in the old cargo hold..." Benoit again couldn't understand what Tewton was giggling about. Of course it had a tremendous cargo capacity. That was the whole intent of using this old design, what on earth was so funny?
