  1. I'm trying to recreate the one model made in the LEGO Club Magazine for the first series of Collectable Minfigures that didn't come with instructions in 2010; the Clown car. I've basically been recreating it in LDD and so far the one area I'm having issue in is the round front section with the blue stud. The car looks like it uses this mudguard, but whatever the front rounded plate with the blue stud is connected to seems to collide with the studs of said mudguard and can't be placed down flat, meaning it may not be the same but red rounded plates. That or it's connected to a hinge piece at the back to "drape" over part of the car at an angle, but would there be enough stud space to do that length wise? It could also just be a matter of what's connected to the grey piece and the answer not being the same, rounded plate, but it does look like it's rounded like the front piece and I'm not sure of other similarly rounded pieces that are shorter to accomodate for the mudguard studs and still connect to the rest of car through SNOT. TLDR; I'm bewildered by the construction of the SNOT-based, blue/grey/red middle front section of the car and wonder if anyone here could take a crack at it. EDIT: Here's a link to the image I took from that might be slightly better quality: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4642125
  2. Here are the estimated set numbers (see below), what are our predictions Bois and Grills? Most likely The Lego Movie 2 Series 1 for January. I’m predicting another 2:1 ratio of Licensed to Regular (includes themed). [71025]: Series 19 - August/September 2019
  3. Discuss your hopes, wishes, and speculation on what LEGO's Collectable Minifigure line may offer for Sci-Fi fans in the near future!
  4. So, what are your thoughts and feelings about these guys' prevalence in more recent Collectable Minifigure Series as of late?
  5. @Elostirion started it, and @Ayrlego continued it and threw down the gauntlet to others, so here's my contribution to the BoBS CMF effort. Corrington Explorer Sir Famous Explorer has been knighted by the queen for his service to the crown. His most recent present for Her Majesty: a pineapple, his latest discovery in New Terra. His is always well dressed, befitting his standing in the queen’s court, and he is the talk of all the ladies. His next adventure? Perhaps circumnavigating the globe! Corrington Spy As the wife of a Corrington diplomat, she has the perfect cover to travel to foreign lands and collect the gossip from the wives of other nations’ dignitaries. But she can charm her way into the men’s discussions as well. And don’t think she’s an easy mark if you get her alone: beware the pistol she hides in her knickers! Corrington Naturalist His appearance might suggest he is rather bookish and doesn’t get out much, but appearances can be deceiving. He has traveled throughout the Brick Seas courtesy of the Royal Navy, studying the new islands and cataloging their flora and fauna. Oleon Aristocrat She went to all the right schools and is intelligent and refined. While not a young lady anymore, she was widowed at a young age, and still has her looks. Now independently wealthy, she is the target of many suitors. As a result, she can choose who she spends her time with, and even go on some adventures that women of her standing rarely get to experience. Oleon Admiral He is among Oleon’s greatest naval commanders, and he can typically be found on his flagship, a ship of the line. His gray hair and receding hairline reveal his years of experience. Nothing escapes his steely gaze, and order is always maintained on his ship. He commands the utmost respect from his officers and the crew, and is highly regarded by the king. Oleon Priest Some say the Order of the Faith is the true power in Oleon. Followers of Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades all look to the Order for guidance and blessing. While most priests of the Order wear white, grey, or red robes, this priest wears the black robes of the secret order within the Faith … secret even from many other priests of the Order of the Faith! Eslandola Swordsman The many trade companies of Eslandola have their own militias, and the richest merchant barons have their own elite bodyguard units. This man is a highly skilled swordsman in the employ of one of the most powerful merchant barons in Eslandola. His fine uniform reflects his status, and his expertise in combat is well known to all. Eslandola Banker The merchant barons of Eslandola need to keep their riches safe, and also finance their endeavors without plundering their own financial resources. Thus Eslandola has seen the rise of a thriving financial industry. This banker insures merchants’ gold deposits and advances DBs to those seeking to become wealthy in New Terra. Eslandola Socialite The wife of a merchant baron, this lady wears the finest clothes money can buy, including the latest fashions from all of Halos. She may not have the schooling and refinement of the Oleon Aristocrat, but she would not embarrass herself or her husband in such company (probably). If nothing else, her spending habits motivate her husband to add to his wealth. Sea Rat Captain He is a self-made man, raising himself up from humble beginnings. Alienated by the rules and laws of the established factions that are slanted against him, he struck out on his own to make a name for himself in the islands of New Terra. All he needs is a ship and his wits, and he will overcome the obstacles “society” has put in his way. Sea Rat Swordswoman She is an expert with the blade, both sword and knife. Although some men do not like having women aboard a ship, she is a valued member of her crew. Part of the vanguard in boarding actions, she is deadly in close combat. She is also hot-tempered; do not cross her on-board ship or on liberty in port. Sea Rat Pirate Hunter To many in the Old World, all Sea Rats are pirates, but those who sail in the seas of New Terra have learned otherwise. Many a Sea Rat will take offense at being called a pirate, none more so than this one. With no allegiance to the Old World factions, but no desire to be the object of their scorn, this captain hunts down the pirates that give Sea Rats a bad name. Mardier Militia A recent veteran of the Eslando-Mardierian War of 616-617, he was one of many local militia men called into service on Isla de Medio. Local militia typically can’t afford the fancy uniforms of army regulars, but his wide-brimmed beaver hat helps keep his powder dry, and his buff coat provides ample protection if he gets into close combat. Fisherman This fellow could be of any faction in the Brick Seas. While many make their profession in service of the army, navy, or a trade company, this man of the sea is skilled at harvesting what the sea provides: food for his family and for sale at market. He dreams of making enough DBs to buy a larger boat and hire a crew of his own to go after tuna and other commercial fish. Native Pearl Diver Many of the islands of New Terra were already inhabited by native peoples when the Halosians started to explore the Brick Seas. This native diver is a highly skilled craftsman, and the strange new men who have come to his island seem very excited about the pearls he retrieves. Monkey Monkey is far too simple a name; he has many skills. Artist, scientist, and today … author. A young Corrish playwright suffering from writer’s block has offered him several hundred DBs to ghostwrite his latest play for the queen. The monkey prefers not to work under such a harsh deadline, but has agreed in this instance.
  6. My take on Elostirions BoBs CMF series idea. Series 1, by @Elostirion Series 2, by @Ayrlego Series 3, by @Capt Wolf Series 4: Corrington Explorer Getting into the jungle is no problem for any Corrington explorers. The ones that find their way out again, often have wild tales from nature, that earn them respect from other nerds. Young Corlander Butterfly Collector "Curiosity found out what killed the cat" is a common catchphrase in the Corrington scholar system. Here is a young corlander trying to find butterflies that mimic flower patterns. Corrington Chocolatiér Nothing is as sweet as landing a job in Corringtons booming chocolate business. Only the most stubborn scientific persistence could have led to the discovery of the right processing technique for turning the bitter cocoa beans into sweet chocolate afternoon delight. Myzec Cathunter The Myzec are masters of hunting cats of Cascadia. Mostly in self defence, but their furs fetch a good price from the strange new people from the west. Oleon Naval Officer The officers of the Oleon Navy are no less flashy then their ships. Oleon Noblesse Statue The noblesse of Oleon are known for their family crests, and likes to display their heritage. Oleon Swabber Oleon likes to keep their ships shiny, and their dirt under the carpet, so a lot of their navy have started swabbing decks. Mardier Aristocrat Some in Mardier are getting rich despite the nations misfortunes. Eslandolan Musician A new kind of music are washing through the brick seas. The latest sound is a high pitch whining instrument that takes years of patience to play in tune. The Eslandolans knows how to appreciate improvisation. Some call it art. Eslandolan Boomstickman The blunderbuss is a fierce weapon, and the armor is mostly used for protection from it, rather than the enemy. The range or accuracy is so-so, but the thunderous sound and choking sulphurous smoke clouds makes it worth it. Old Deluded Man with a stick and bone This became my favorite detail from Eslandolas Colonial Council Hall, perhaps because it came about from improvisation instead of planning. I gave him an encore in this CMF series, simply because I like him. Garvey Trader The people of Garvey are bound to the sea, and trade runs in their veins. Many have tried to earn a profit on their expense, so many from Garvey are suspicious by nature. Sea Rat Occultist Contrary to popular beliefs, you don't worship dark arts, you practice it. The most daring occultist in the Brick Seas have called themselves free men. Perhaps they are on to something... Sea Rat Mercenary This sea rat will be at the mercy of no man. When you have to learn to fend for yourself, you might as well earn some doubloons doing it. Sea Rat Farmer A common occupation in the colonies, also amongst the Sea Rats, is farming. This is a hemp farmer, selling his crops to ropemakers, tailors, sailcloth makers and such. Rum Runner Rum runners are common in the Brick Seas, and (even though this one is currently employed by Eslandola - Captain on the Silver Scythe) could belong to any nation.

  16. Hi everyone! I finally got around to taking some new photos of my CMF stand. I adore CMFs and they are actually the reason I got back into LEGO as an adult, following a chance purchase of a single series 4 pack whilst out shopping (Kimono Girl, you have a special place in my heart). As LEGO fans, we must all have more Minifigures than we know what to do with, so I'm curious as to what everyone else does with theirs? For me, I started simply enough with a single-tiered stand that just grew and grew with each new series. The stand is currently 55cm high, 37cm deep and it is 54.5cm wide. I have made several modifications to the design as the stand has evolved. Once it became too big and heavy to move easily, I broke it down and made it modular. It currently is made up of THREE modular pieces: - 1) Series 1 - 5 2) Series 6 - 11 3) The 'raiser' The 'Raiser' has seven jumper plates on top, which are used to hold series 6-11 in place. Series 1-5 then neatly slides up against the front of the 'raiser' to give the illusion of one large stand but allows me to move it easily for dusting and display purposes. The back of all the three modules features 1x2 Technic bricks with holes, so when a new series comes out, I can just 'bolt on' a new tier with Technic pins. This saves me from having to take the whole thing apart and rebuild for each new tier. The name plates are made by putting custom stickers onto 1x4 white tiles. The 'series' tiles are a little more complicated in terms of sticker design but follow the same principle as the name plates and are put onto 2x2 white tiles. The custom stickers are simply designed in Microsoft Word and then printed onto clear adhesive/sticker paper (it comes in A4 sheets) via my office printer, cut to size and applied to LEGO tiles. One of the things that this stand allows me to do is to add some dynamic posing for those characters that imply movement or that are an unusual size, or that have accessories that would look better in use. For example: - The Sky Diver looks fine standing straight up, but he looks even better when in free-fall! Medusa's tail is so long that I had to make a hole to allow it to poke out the back. I would be especially interested to hear how people who frame and hang their Minifigures have handled Medusa. Adding a Hinge Brick (a.k.a. Rocker Plate) allowed me to angle the Snowboarders and Surfers and let them not only ride their boards, but do it at dynamic angles. This is much more preferable than standing them straight up with their board held in their hand (framed Minifigures again). Putting the Ice Skates on Series 4's Hockey Player and Ice Skater means that they can no longer attach to a plate. I got around this by putting a Technic half-pin into the back of their legs to hold them in place over a tile. The Technic pin goes onto a 'tap' and the 'tap' attaches to the stand. So there it is. Series 12 is looming and soon this stand will have one more tier. I do not have room for many more tiers, so I am quite pleased that LEGO have slowed down with the release of these CMFs. I have custom display stands for the LEGO Movie Minifigures and also for Team GB, so look for them on here soon. I'm currently working on a Simpsons display stand but am only at a very early design stage in LDD. How do you display your Minifigures? I'd love to know. Thanks for looking! You can view the full album on Flickr HERE.

  18. Transparency for Effect

Why is the Series 1 Zombie so expensive?

Maybe it's because Series 1/2 of the minifigures were more limited than the rest, maybe it's because it was an army builder, but why is it that can't find one of these online without paying around £10?
  19. LEGO Collectable Minifigures Rumours and Discussion Please discuss Series 12 Rumours here. The thread will become the News thread once confirmation becomes available.
