I just need some signs and Larry from the Lego Movie collectables series, then my coffee shop can join my Coles Express servo setup......this is now replacing my diner idea because....cash flow is bad again - anyway keep watching.

  4. Hello, fellow Eurobrickers! Warning: This is a picture heavy post - and there's a lot of text as well :) I've been much less active over the past months here on the forums than I used to be. The main reason for that is that I've been very, very active in the real world of LEGO fans, having visited nine LEGO events in the last thirteen months. Part of the time, I've also been busy building - mainly for the LEGO Adventure Book, Volume 2. I was very honoured to be asked to participate in Megan Rothrock's first book, which turned out great - I'm very proud of having been a part of that, although my chapter is a little, tiny one with only six pages. It has taken me to events in Germany, Portugal, the UK and the Netherlands that I probably wouldn't have been to - at least not this early in my MOCing days - if it hadn't been for the book, and I have met so many great people (many of whom are active Eurobricks members) as a result of that. So when Megan asked me if I wanted to build something for the second book, I knew I would be stupid not to say yes. But I had to approach the challenge differently than with the first book, because the stuff that ended up in Volume 1 was all stuff that had already been published on my Flickr (apart for the Ace of Spades building instructions, which I made specifically for the book). For Volume 2, Megan wanted me to build something new. And obviously, if you're building something that goes into a book, you want to do your best. I couldn't just repeat what I did for the first book and build some cars. I needed to do something bigger, and that's why I decided to pursue an idea I'd had for a while, but didn't expect to actually be able to turn into reality for a while yet. I had toyed with the idea of building a gas station that would fit into a modular street, but I also wanted it to feature a (removable) parking deck on top and a ramp leading up to it. So I started out in MLCad with a 32x64 stud footprint. Not a good idea. After having built the entire ground floor and the ramp, it looked like this: I was quite happy with it - but then I thought it might be clever to check how it would look with some cars on it. And they didn't fit - they wouldn't be able to make the turn on the ramp, and they wouldn't really be able to get to the pumps. So it was back to the drawing board... This was so much better. I had another idea all along as well - a pet project of mine is, as some of you might know, updating the classic Town sets from the eighties and nineties, and a favourite set of mine from that era (that I didn't have as a kid, but bought right after coming out of my Dark Ages) is 6561, Hot Rod Club. My contribution to book 1 had a strong flavour of hot rods, so it made sense to just let that evolve into book 2 - and therefore I wanted to make an updated Hot Rod Clubhouse to go on top of the parking deck. I also wanted it to be removable so it could stand alone as a separate building, like the old one. And this is what I ended up with. Note that all stickers are official LEGO stickers. Here's a demonstration of the removable floors. The roof of the clubhouse also comes off (not visible in this picture): Some of my favourite details of the gas station: And the clubhouse: That last one is a respectful nod to the old set - the idea is that the hot rod club grew out of their old clubhouse... So, a gas station and a hot rod clubhouse. That's all good and well, but there needs to be some cars to go with it. First, the Gas Guzzler, a hot rod tanker truck. The idea came from those dark blue curved double slopes. I was able to pick up four of them from some building bins at an event in November, and I thought this would be a good way to use them. You can find complete instructions for the Guzzler in book 2. Add to this the hot rods that go with the updated clubhouse - two from set 6561 and, for good measure, set 6538, from the same year. Sweet Yello: Hot Howler: Rebel Roadster: And, for good measure, throw in a vintage car that I did earlier, the Blue Eagle, to be the gas station owner's daily driver (his name is Gus Gazzler, by the way): Complete instructions for this car can also be found in book 2. So there you have it: A modular gas station with a removable parking deck and a hot rod clubhouse, with three hot rods, a vintage car and a hot rod tanker truck - Chapter 3 of the LEGO Adventure Book, Volume 2, coming out in late November. Hope you like it - I'm certainly looking forward to getting my hands on the book to have a closer look at what the other contributors have built. There are some fantastic builders in there that I'm - again - honoured to be allowed to share space with in a book. And, personally, I feel this is my best build ever. Which is of course a very gratifying feeling when that was what I set out to do - and I was rewarded with a lot more pages in the second book :) More pictures of these MOCs can be found in my Service with a Smile photoset on Flickr. Thanks for stopping by! Are / L@go
  5. Hi all, A while back I posted my medieval abbey in this forum. Thanks to everyone who posted there, sorry if I didn't reply to specific questions but I was away at the show and since I came back I have been away a lot with work. I am hoping that this time I can respond to questions in this thread! As I mentioned the abbey was part of a collaborative display created by 8 builders (names are Flickr links): James Pegrum, Barney Main, Luke Hutchinson, Harry Russell, Steve Snasdell, Jimmy Clynche, Tom Coleman and your humble narrator. This display was on show at the Great Western Lego Show in Swindon, which took place in October 2013. The display was approximately 4m by 5m, and due to a cutout area measured 14m2. Although most of us had never met before in person, we had great fun displaying it and enjoyed our weekend. We might even do another display at future shows! Below are a few photos, although a few more will be appearing in the coming days. There will eventually be [Prev] and [Next] links on every photo to take you through them (42 'official' photos) but we are waiting on a few people posting theirs so please be patient! This time I promise I will answer any relevant questions 8 Display from South by Cuahchic, on Flickr 1 Display from South-East by Cuahchic, on Flickr 5 Town Square From Above by Cuahchic, on Flickr 9 - Overall view of Tigelfah by peggyjdb, on Flickr 1 Tigelfah Castle and town by peggyjdb, on Flickr 8. 10. Hi everyone, I'd like to show you my first MOD. As I already own two corner buildings, I have rebuilt my Palace Cinema as a non-corner building. The ground floor is now equipped with a bathroom, a back entrance and a grand staircase. The movie theater on the first floor includes more seating and is separated from the window front by a small hallway. Comments & suggestions welcome, thanks for looking! Originals on Flickr.

    (MOC)-Modular Bookshop

Hello to everyone again. Let me introduce you for the first time my last MOC. It's a corner modular bookshop and it has been designed in the early 2013 and built. It's been yet displayed in some of the italian events a took part. It all started with the photo of a building placed in New York, initially I was trying to catch the curved facade and I spent many evenings trying to find the right inclination... As in many other modular building, it has a shop in the lower floor and a house in the higher. I decided to put my acronym in the rear like it was a graffity, actually I was looking for a more "flowing" sign, but it was the best I can obtain in such a narrow place. I created a watch for walkways... I'm satisfied with it, but I'm waiting TLG to produce some brackets in white... The book shop has its shelves with plenty of books and some displaying bench. In the rear there's a little bathroom. In the higher floors there's the house of the shop's owner, so we can see his wife going out on the terrace... At the first floor I've put a dining room and kitchen. Going upstair, there's a little hall with couch and TV, obviously a bookcase and a bathroom with a snotted bathtub . Trying to maximize the available space, I decided to add a floor as a loft where I put the bedroom. There's a narrow and steep staircase to reach it. On the roof I decided to draw a colored skylight ad I built a TV antenna. www.flickr.com/photos/kevin8/sets/72157632430341953/

    (MOC)-Modular Medieval Tower

Hello to everyone. Today I would like to introduce one of the latter MOC I've built. It's an ancient tower, restored and converted into a Museum. It's my first fully original Modular Building and the first to be completely designed with LDD. Each store has its own display of medieval stuff. Each floor has its own structure of wooden beams. I love castles ... But my idea of a giant castle does not agree at all with the available space in my house. I've taken the opportunity to to use some techniques to build the tower. In particular, I've taken care of the shape of the windows, creating the inclination of the walls as in the existing medieval fortresses, and I've tried to create realistic gargoyles. Unlike the original design and the fact that once built, it appeared a bit "stubby", I added a floor with a clock. The white panel is actually a Mobile Phone Antenna... we can usually see these antennas on higher buildings... The top floor has a wooden staircase leading to the terrace on top of the tower from which minifigs can admire the view of their city. www.flickr.com/photos/kevin8/sets/72157631268893806

  18. Hi All, I've been working and a big project over the last few months and thought it was time to start sharing. My plan is to build (almost all done) all the commercial buildings of my home town of Maclean NSW Australia. The town was established in the late 1800's early 1900's and has some beautiful architecture from all era's. There is really only one main street which make the task so much easier. Some of the buildings have interiors whilst other are just facades. All the buildings (complete with roads cars and other goodies) will be coming together for a BIG display at a local school Fete coming up in October. There is around 30 buildings in total but I won't bore you with all of them just the good ones. Hardware Store with interior. More detailed pictures of the Hardware Shop Click Here. Originally a Bank, now a solicitors and offices. Built in 1878 is the oldest building in town. Commonwealth Bank Building complete with ATM. Palace Arcade was an Picture Theatre in it's day. This one is a favorites and I'm working on an interior at the moment. Will post pictures soon. Here's a little comparison photo. A Pub with interior. That's all for now, but for those interested in the town I'm sure you can find my little site dedicated to the build. Regards Brendan

    MOC - Music Shop Modular

Hello, At the moment the two most important things in my life are LEGO and music, so it makes sense to combine the two! This is a 3 storey modular building with around 3200 bricks, I'll let the picture do the rest of the talking, there are many more picture on my flickr photostream. I wanted to do two things with the exterior; one was the use of plates and second was windows all the way up the building, I'm quite happy with the result. The bottom floor is record store with a counter, many CDs for sale and even a vinyl box for the record lovers. There is also a storage room under the stairs to recording studio and stairs to the second floor where there are musical instruments for sale. The white tiles on the wall were meant to have stickers on them of 'posters' of music bands etc but my printer isn't talking to my computer atm.... Here is the second floor; this is the floor for all your musical instrument needs with guitars, a trumpet, a flute, a drum kit and even a grand piano!! You can also see the gold records on the wall leading up to the record studio. The third floor is the recording studio, as you can see there are two singers in the studio at the moment (although their microphones have fallen over ) but there is also a drum kit, an upright piano and a couple of guitars. The recording equipment is on show too, and more gold records on the wall, it's important to show your work off! And finally the roof top, there's no party like the after party!! And this is where it's at, all the stars can relax in the jacuzzi or enjoy a champagne or two with their BBQ. The store and studio is run by twin DJs, one you can see manning the BBQ, the other is chatting with the talent. Anyway, I hope you like it, as mentioned before there are heaps more shots, particularly of the interior and instruments on my photostream. Comments are welcome and appreciated

10184 Town Hall MOD - Public Library

Hello all, I recently purchased and built the Town Hall modular and realising my town now had two town halls, I set to work finding a new purpose for my old 10184 Town Hall. I decided to turn it in to a Public Library for the citizens to enjoy. So here it is: I try to stay close to the originals with my MODs, so this is no different, however it is 32 x 32 modular. The ground floor is where most of the books are, from crime to biographies to non-fiction, you'll find it here. The middle floor has study desks with lamps, as well as being the floor for the older books. The librarian calls this the 'serious' part of the library.... Shhhhh!! The top floor is the multimedia section, four computers and plenty of space for reading with several couches and an ugly rug. Two of the couches and the rug were donated to the library, it's easy to see why. Please check out my flickr photostream for more pics, esp of the interior. Hope you like it and comments and suggestions always welcome EDIT: Changed the first photo for the new window design.
  22. Sorry if i have posted this in the wrong category, but I wanted to share my first moc creation published to Lego Cuusoo entitled Modern Modular Furnished Beach Front House. It is a displayable and playable piece meant for adults and children alike, both boys and girls. Please do not let the pink colour put you off; I have proposed this in many different colours including neutrals like grey and white. I designed it with the intention of making this house as flexibly integrative as possible with all types of Lego scenarios. This house is bifold; it can open in the middle on hinges like the Monster Fighter's haunted house, and the roof is removable in 3 parts. It also has originally designed furniture and assessories. I am currently working on the landscaping. A complete set of updated photos are available at the following links: thank you for your interest and your vote!

    (MOC)-Villa Battisti

Hi, to everyone! This is the second time I show you one of my MOC. Actually the Tie Fighters where not totally mine as explained in this post http://www.eurobrick...entry1687262... By the way, what I'm showing today is my first attempt to make a MOC after the dark age... It represents a northern-style house that were built in the 10th of the XX century in my town. As you will see it is a very strange building while put in an environment like ours in Italy. I built it during many years (2006-2009), brick by brick, attempting to catch the essential of the real one. It has been very difficult, in fact I built and destroyed it 3 times before getting a satisfactory one... In some details, like the wooden frame of the roof, I'm still far away... :/ I hope Lego will produce more bar-like parts in black... It has been completed with a garden and a front sidewalk during 2010, while I put some minor inner detail later. It can be fitted along with standard modular houses. As you can see from my gallery it can be opened and is fully furnished. Meanwhile here is it.
