  1. I have a 1300 piece model of a steam locomotive in LDD (my first attempt at a steam locomotive). I want to order the parts to build it and see if there is anything that needs to be reworked. Is there a way I can repaint the model in LDD easier than going brick by brick? The reason I want to repaint it is so If I need to tweak it I can easily see what parts are new. If not, the alternative would be to use different colored bricks for the new parts. Thanks, Sal WFB, WI
  2. We made a short survey, to see what you think of the "LDD and other digital tools" forum and the LDD and LDraw set indexes. We hope to see which things are good and which things can be better. You can fill in this little survey by clicking on this link. The survey is completely anonymous. The closing date is 11 december We hope many people will fill in the survey Thank you in advance for participating!

US 1980s Long Nose Tractor Unit

V-LC-21F Hi Guys, Having grown up in the era of such films as 'Smokey and the Bandit', 'Convoy' and 'Duel' i've always had a passion for big American trucks, in the UK due to size constraints and restrictions we've always really had 'Cabovers' be best sellers here. I decided to build one of my favourites, a long nose tractor unit. This has been copied from a Kenworth from around that era. It's only been built in LDD as yet but I hope you like it, the rear has a sleeping area for the driver as when there's beer in TexArcana and they're thirsty in Atlanta every second counts. My next plan is to build a trailer and maybe experiment with an American Cabover like an 'International'. Hope you like it and hope the US builders on here tell me if it looks realistic to them. How it looks in your rear view Feedback always welcome.
  4. Creator set 5867 (Super Speedster) is such a great set, isn't it? All three models are really detailed, inspiring, and fun to build. If you are like me, and you have a weakness for Vintage Roadsters, The Lego Club bonus model instructions make the set even better. I rebuilt that model one afternoon, and pondered one aspect of its design - it makes use of some of the spare black and light bluish grey pieces from the kit to give the impression of a lowered soft-top roof. What would this model look like, if the roof was raised? I had a few spare bits that could be put to good use, so I decided to create a raised roof within the limits of my tiny bit bucket (and similarly-sized brainial gland). Here is the result! Now one doesn't need to consider British Precipitation when debating whether to take part in this year's London to Brighton Run. Huzzah! I'm quite pleased with the overall look, considering the limits of my available pieces, and the constraints on the geometry. The roof assembly actually tilts forward by a few degrees to allow the hinge plates at the back enough clearance. I love it when a plan comes together! The roof's tilt really complements the look of this mod - but it was a "happy accident". The windscreen's connection allowed it to be moved back, which created a gap below the black plates used for the top of the roof. The forward tilt for the whole roof assembly was now possible by using the spare red hinge bricks (and plates) from the main Super Speedster model. Just to make sure that what I was making didn't violate building conventions, I recreated it in LDD. The only thing I couldn't place was the black 1x4 tile below the rear windows. Download the LXF for yourself, you dastardly bounder.
  5. I made a special MOC in honor of veterans everywhere. WarHero Click any image to enlarge it. WarHero's gun, BigBoss, rapid-fires huge plasma bolts and comes with a green targeting laser. BigBoss also fits on WarHero's back, thanks to a retractable clip. Feel free to use any of the above images as a desktop background. [LXF File] - [Brickshelf Gallery] -Toa Of Justice

    [MOC] WIP Modular Townhouse

Hey guys, I'd like to introduce my WIP Townhouse MOC. With a complicated financial situation ATM, I turned to LDD to start creating something on my own. This is at the same time my first LDD and first modular MOC (but It's 4 story high). The outside is pretty much done, but I'm still not happy with the roof. I'm working on the inside (furniture is OK, but need some more stuff). I'll be glad to have your feedback on that, I do plan to build it for real when I can afford to. The pics are so-so, I'll try to do it better tonight.

    [MOC] Bowling, (WIP)

Hello all, Just wanted to share my latest (first) MOC....Bowling! I was playing around with LDD for the first time today and whipped this up real quick. Very simple and I plan to add to it. I used SNOT for the lane itself, but I want to add a seating area. I'm having a little trouble trying to figure out how to transfer from the SNOT lane to a regular studs on top seating area. Comments, criticism, questions are all welcome.

Hawken - War is a Machine

Hey everyone! Hawken Just had a big Beta Event for the weekend so I fianlly got off my butt and got some game time in, had a blast! Between this and Mech Warrior Online looks like we'll have lots of Mech goodness for sometime! Hawken has a great Aesthetic so naturally it got my creative juices flowing! I had been having a good run with the Rocketeer mech, so I designed this guy based on it(or at leat it's weapons) Had a lot of fun with this, Hawkens Aesthetic and my Dense Building style meshed really well and I'm really liking hte overall size I got here, big enough for figs but small enough to be able to (relatively) easily build more than one or two! I think I'll try to build something based on the Assault Mech next, I've grown attached to it's big square head! So hit me up with any C&C you guys have, but keep in mind that these won't be you average LDD MOC, these are built and colored with Actual Bricks in mind! There are NO Floating parts, NO iffy connections and NO Parts in un-produced Colors(mistakes still happen thought), just keep it in mind. Mike
  9. Hello all, i'm new here so hopefully i post this in the correct place. I like to work with Lego Digital Designer but finding of parts is very limited. Because of this i wrote myself a little tool wich make working with LDD better. Because the tool is better working than expected i want to share the beta version already with you all. 10. In this topic you can ask help if you don't find a piece in LDD. You can also ask here about any doubt regarding part IDs, duplicate parts and the use of a specific part present in LDD. Before asking, try the hints listed below. Ensure that the Extended Mode is active The extended mode allow access to all the bricks included in LDD in each colour. To activate Extended Mode go to: Menu -> View -> Theme -> Extended Mode . . . [Image] Use the Search Field The search field is the textfield above the Bricks Palette. . . . [Image] Enter there the ID of the brick you are looking for, or any plausible word that could identify the brick you are looking for. Note that the IDs and the descriptions in LDD are the official LEGO ones, and could differ from those you can find consulting other sources such as Bricklink, Peeron, etc... Check the work of other users As last resource, check the index of the Official LEGO Sets made in LDD topic looking for the sets that uses the part you need. If you find it you can select it and read its Design ID in the bottom bar, then easily find it using the LDD integrated search function. Other Useful Tools LDD Part Finder (beta) Could be you can find useful this little software developed by the user DrFalken. You can find more informations here. Bricklink and LDD Manager If you know a set that uses the brick you are looking for, you can: - Obtain the part ID from Bricklink - Use the "Brick Finder" function in LDD Manager to convert the Bricklink ID to the LEGO Element ID Otherwise you can use LDD manager function "Search for attributes". 11. Report all 4.3.5 bugs here You're right. Workaround: Place the visor on a 3842 helmet. Rotate the visor about 7 degrees forward (flip it down). Now it will fit on the 87781. EDIT: You can report in this forum (here is the new topic for 4.3.5). I collect each and everyone and send to the LDD Team. You can also report a bug to the LEGO Customer Service help desk.

  13. BrickUtils NB: starting from october, 2015, this software become unmaintained. Sorry for that, but my time is limited and I don't see reasons to put effort in a project with really few users. From now on no updates, no bugfixes and no support. BrickUtils is an utility for builders that use LEGO Digital Designer and LDraw-compatible CAD for designing models. The main problem that BrickUtils tries to solve is the answer at the question: can I build this model with bricks I own? So, with BrickUtils you can quickly build your brick catalog and check if you can build a model. You can also export list of bricks you can buy on BrickLink, to complete your brick collection. Program main window Example of exported bill of material (HTML, printable) This thread holds all you need to know about BrickUtils Feature list: Imports LDD project file (LXF or LXFML) Imports BrickLink set inventory, store inventory, order inventory Imports LDraw file format (MPD or LDR) Manage your collection of bricks, sets and bulk lots Display brick shape in 3D (from LDraw part library) Checks if you can build a model (from LDD, LDraw or a BrickLink set) against your brick catalog, and helps you to find alternate bricks Exports BrickLink "Wanted Mass Upload" XML file, to buy bricks on BrickLink Exports lists in printable HTML to helps pick bricks from your collection (a bill of materials) Exports wanted lists in user-defined format via templates (see manual) New releases check at startup Database update via Internet Imports and exports your bricks and sets catalog in XML format, for backup and upgrades Faster full text search in BrickLink and LDraw databases “Can Build?” function now includes an “export” button to create a wanted mass upload file from missing bricks, accepted by BrickLink Complete user manual (PDF, english and italian) Program is totally free, Open Source (GPLv3 license), coded in Java, and do not needs any other program to run. LDD Help with Trains

This is no doubt a stupid question to those who know the answer, but I do not and have just given up looking for it. I see lots of trains on here designed in LDD. I have LDD installed on my PC. Hoever when I go into it I do not have an option to get many of the bricks needed for trains. For example there are no train wheels or buffers? Obviously as people have these in their own designs there must be a way around this but I just cannot find out what it is. Maybe someone could help me?
  15. In the past couple of years, Eurobricks has been witness to the rising popularity of LDD use among members as evidenced by the significant influx of LDD MOCs throughout the site. This Index was created to provide a convenient means to search and browse all the LDD MOCs that were posted here in the forums. The LDD MOCs shall be indexed according to theme, and members could add their own or other member’s LDD creations in this Index by following the general guidelines below. General Guidelines: Only LDD MOCs with LXF files that were posted here in Eurobricks (in the appropriate subforum) are eligible to be indexed. Posting your own LDD MOC: If you have done an LDD MOC that you have posted before on the appropriate forum which you’d like to be part of this Index, post the topic link and the LXF file in this topic using the following format: LDD MOC Name by LDD Builder - LXF (insert topic link in the ‘LDD MOC Name’ and the LXF file link to ‘LXF’) If you have a new LDD MOC that you haven’t posted yet, post it first in the appropriate forum, then provide the required topic link and the LXF following the format above. [*]Posting other member’s LDD MOC: If you found an LDD MOC of another member on a certain subforum which you think needs to be added on this Index, post the topic link and the LXF file. Important Reminders: When posting your LDD MOCs in the appropriate subforum, pls. observe the image size limit of 800x600 pixels max. If you made an LDD version of someone else’s MOC and would like it to be indexed here, make sure you give credit to the original source or better if you ask permission from them. If you used an LDD MOC from this Index to make your own brick-built version and you post photos of that MOC, it is a must and proper courtesy to acknowledge the source of the design. The LDD Staff and Indexer reserve the right to refuse MOCs which do not follow the rules and are not up to EB standards. Since we are just staring this Index, feel free to comment, ask questions, and add your suggestions. Index Statistics: (to be updated)

Allowed Sets Set that has been officially released by LEGO and available for the purchase. Set whose Official Instructions has been released from TLG and are available in LEGO website. IMPORTANT NOTE: if building instructions or set's references are not easily available on common sources, please report that. The Set have to be constructed using official LEGO instructions and not interpreting preliminary or official images. The Set have to contain something you can build. Sets with scattered parts or single or few minifigures are not allowed. Irregular Posts Important NOTE: Irregular entries (inserted in posts that don't respect the Topic's Rules) won't be indexed. When you fix an irregular post, inform the indexer, so that he can update the index database. Good habits Avoid unnecessary posts inside this topic, if possible. Always use a new post to add new entry/entries. Don't add (or remove!) models to any existing post. If you think to build more sets in a short period of time, don't post them one by one but amass a bit of them and then post them together. Try to avoid to post more than one time in a single day. For any question/explanation/request/communication contact the indexer using private messages, when possible. Use of images in the topic [Guide] Only images related to posted sets (and then lxf file) are allowed, as a preview. Only one image for each set is allowed. Don't quote images from other posts. Any other image can be inserted as text link. Images should be simple and clear: no "creative" images are allowed, but simple screenshots. Avoid compositions (more images in one), images with another image as background, animated images, 3D images, renderings with external software, image with custom added parts, etc... Try to place objects inside the image so that the image results compact (i.e. avoid internal large blank space if possible) but clear. Try to place the camera so that the set results well visible. Avoid flat framing but choose a good 3D angle. As images are for preview purpose only, should be not too big! Maximum size allowed is 512x512 pixels for big sets (such as castles, modular buildings, stations, large space ships, etc...). Use intermediate sizes (for example 448px, 384px, 320px, ...) for smaller models. The 256x256px size or lower is often good for small sets. Crop images completely removing horizontal and vertical blank stripes around the subject (zero-pixles margins). Insert a model Report set's data and emphasize that in bold. Set's data include set Number, set official Name and set's Theme and subtheme if any. For example: 5988 - Pharaoh's Forbidden Ruins - Theme: Adventure If the set has more "configurations" (different models), please specify which one you are reproducing with LDD (Model A, Model B, etc...). NOTE: Alternate Versions (official different configurations for the same set) are counted as separate sets. If the set has been Re-Released with an identical or similar version, report the alternate Set ID(s). Report both the version of LDD and the brickset used to build the model. Insert a screenshot of your creation, in order to provide a preview. One screenshot for each set (see the rules about images above). Write an Error List, reporting if the model is complete or some element is missing or replaced (by a similar part, a brick assembly or any custom solution). Use part IDs to identify the bricks. Don't divide a single set in more than one post. Put a single set in a single .lxf file. You are encouraged to use LDD groups function to separate different elements in complex sets. LDD model should be similar to the original model as much as possible. Include minifigs, if any. Replace missing decorations with suitable ones, if possible. Modified models are welcome, but in different .lxf files, as an "extra". Every personalization (personal logos, additions, changes) makes a model a "Modified Model". and obviously... Share you lxf file! Update a set Update the post where you originally inserted the set. Report the update in the Upgrade Topic. Be care to follow the rules of the Upgrade Topic. [Sets created by other users] If the set has been built by another user, contact him and ask him to update his entry. Provide some help, if you find a way to solve some issue. If contact model's builder is not possible or he don't want to update it, insert the updated model in a new post as if it is a new model, but specify it is an update and insert the link to the original model's post. Inform the indexer before posting. Use of the new bricks from the custom LDD updates [new!] A model without custom bricks is necessary to the entry to be accepted as regular. A model with custom bricks is allowed as an extra. You are encouraged to publish both the models for your entries. Book or Request a set Refer to "Official Lego sets - Book, WIP, Requests" Topic. NOTE: you can ever choose to make an already made or booked set, if you want. Besides You are encouraged to inform an LDD file maker if you notice an adjustable defect in his/her LDD file! If you notice something wrong in the index, please report it to the indexer. If you use custom pieces to replace missing bricks in LDD, please post it in the "LDD custom bricks" Topic! Rules in brief Read the rules before posting here. Only regular entries will be indexed. Allowed sets: instructions officially released, no spared parts. Report references if necessary. Insert a model General rules: don't split model in more posts, don't add or remove entries to an existing post, group entries. Don't add personalizations to the model (except in order to replace missing parts). Use Groups. Extra are allowed, as text links. Models containing custom parts are allowed ad extra only. Necessary content: Set's Data, Image, LXF File, Error List. - Set's data: Set's ID, Set's name, Theme/Subtheme, alternative model (Model A, B, ...), alternative Set IDs if any. - Image: one for each set, simple screenshots, PNG with Alpha channel, maximum size 512x (big sets), crop (zero-pixles margins), not scattered, no flat view. - LXF file: one for each entry, direct link, report LDD and brickset version. - Error List: missing bricks/decorations, replaced brick/decorations, brick made replacements. Various: minimal quotes, don't quote images, report errors. (index/other entries).
