    Christmas Layout 2014

Hello everyone. I haven't posted anything in quite a while so I thought I would share my layout I put under my tree this year. (and I hope I am doing the pictures correctly) I put a LEGO train under the Christmas tree every year, but the last couple of years have been pretty basic. Just some track to run a train and that is all. This year I wanted to get back to making more of a layout and I mostly suceeded. I was just a little too ambitious for the time that I had to spend on it. It looks like a ghost town because it never got detailed. For the photos, I had to add the trees, plants, lights and anything that could easily be removed to the layout. I made the scenery as strong as I could to withstand my 14 month old and my 2 year old (who is almost 3 actually). What I didn't anticipate was the 2 year old taking it apart and then the 14 month year old trying to eat everything. So anything loose had to go. It was walked on and crawled on with very little damage so that goal was reached... There are no trains in the pictures because, honestly, I forgot to put it on there while I took the pictures. Nothing special though, I made a quick simple train that could withstand the kids. It didn't, but it was easy to reassemble. The transition between the snow and the grass is not as good as it was originally. If you look there are some chunks missing in the back. I also built everything to face the other direction, but when I went to set it all up, I ended up having to reverse everything. Luckily it is LEGO so I could change it, but it didn't end up as nice as it was due to the time that I had to change it. I had some nice lines with the banks of snow and grass that I really liked. I will post some WIP shots that show it. The building is old (around 10yrs old) that I had sitting around in a box from my COLTC days. I needed something sturdy and didn't time to build a new one. At one point the 14 month old climbed on the building and was sitting on it...luckily the roof didn't collapse! I probably spent the most time on the 2 curves and I am really happy how they came out although I think that they would look a whole lot better with bigger radius curves!! Overall I am pretty happy with how it came out, it is just not as finished as I would have liked. Enjoy, John

    [MOC] The Nutcracker

Hello, everybody! The Nutcracker and the Mouse King is a story written in 1816 by E. T. A. Hoffmann in which young Marie Stahlbaum's favorite Christmas toy, the Nutcracker, comes alive and, after defeating the evil Mouse King in battle, whisks her away to a magical kingdom populated by dolls. In 1892, the Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and choreographers Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov turned Alexandre Dumas père's adaptation of the story into the ballet The Nutcracker, which became one of Tchaikovsky's most famous compositions, and perhaps the most popular ballet in the world. Nutcrackers in the form of wooden carvings of a soldier, knight, king, or other profession have existed since at least the 15th century. Originally one could insert a nut in the big-toothed mouth, press down and thereby crack the nut. Modern nutcrackers in this style serve mostly for decoration, mainly at Christmas time, a season of which they have long been a traditional symbol. So I decided to create this character of Christmas story with lego. Original picture: The nutcracker I have designed is a little cute toy, I think you wold like to have it on your shelf, especially at Christmas time, so you can vote for the project and share the link with your friends and followers, the project has to reach 10,000 supporters)). Thats all, I hope you enjoed! Comments are welcome. Flickr

    Winter Village: Elf House

This is my entry for the "Expand the Winter Village" competition. It is also my first post. Here is a link to the photo including Santa's North Pole set and the Elf's House set : http://i1167.photobu...zps328b9d73.jpg I have created a house for the elves, I wanted it to blend with Santa's North Pole set so I built it similarly. I felt penguins were necessary as was the postbox for the mail to arrive. A better view of the chimney. Finally an inside shot.
  4. Hi everyone. Although my Lego building projects aren't normally Star Wars related, I've been collecting the sets and mini-figures for the last 6 months. To bring them all together and to celebrate Christmas, I put together a short comic book style story based on a Christmas Party MOC. I hope you like the idea. Maybe the story isn't the funniest or the most accurate, but it's intended to be a fun first try at something new based on one of our Lego MOCs. I'd love to hear your comments. Thanks, Mike .
  5. “In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone went to their own town to register.” Lukas 2,1-3 "So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them." Luk 2, 3-7 “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi1 from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written: “ ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’2” Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.” After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.” Matthew 2, 1-12
  6. Merry Christmas, everyone! Over the years I have found a lot of inspiration here at Eurobricks so I thought I'd give just a little bit back by sharing photos of the Winter Village / Christmas display I have made together with my two boys this December. It consists of all the official Winter Village sets and a slightly modified version of the train from 79111 - Constitution Train Chase. Plus a few extra details here and there...! Lighting done with LifeLites. More pictures are available at Flickr.

  8. Hello! This is my first post and my first completed MOC! I have been lurking here for a while now, marveling at everyones amazing work and figured it was time to give it a try. I think I posted the pics at the right size and all that (please let me know if I didn't!) Anyways, I think the MOC speaks for itself but it's just a recreation of the Nativity of Jesus with Tolkien characters (elves, dwarves, hobbits, Earendil playing the role of the Christmas star, etc) Enjoy! 1 by fangorn_treebeard22, on Flickr earendil by fangorn_treebeard22, on Flickr Holy Family by fangorn_treebeard22, on Flickr There are a few more pics on my Flickr. 13. Last Christmas, I gave you my heart... by SPARKART!, on Flickr: I've been seeing a lot of automobiles around town sporting the Rudolph get-up with red nose and antlers, and thought ye olde Furst Batmobile Microfighter could do that, too. This scene depicts an earlier time in the bittersweet romance between LEGO Batman and Wyldstyle. The song playing on the Bat-radio is Last Christmas; Batman gives Wyldstyle a knowing wink when the refrain, "I'll give it to someone SPECIAL," is sung.

  18. Since it is the season, I thought we needed a custom Unikitty, so I present Christmas Unikitty: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/pirzyk/MOCs/christmas_unikitty.jpg The face is modled after 3622pb057 from the SD Comi-con Exclusive set, with the artwork done by my SO. Then I took that artwork and cut out the vinyl pieces on my silhouette cutter and placing the pieces by hand. It is still a work in progress, I plan on covering up the orange on the tail with more white vinyl and figuring out how to make a white pom pom on the unicorn tip.
  19. Hi everyone! It's that time of year again when kids big and small wake up each morning to open a little door and find a little surprise behind it! For Lego lovers, it's especially great since they have three different advent calendars to choose from. But unfortunately, despite the theme's growing popularity, Super Heroes is not one of them. And so, I decided to make my own Super Heroes advent calendar this year! For now, I chose to focus on the DC Comics subtheme, and if it turns out well, maybe I'll do Marvel next year. Every day from now until Christmas, I will post a little MOC in this thread that I would want/expect to see in an official DC Comics Super Heroes advent calendar, most of which will be made in LDD. Please note that these will be based on the DC Super Heroes sets that have been released so far, so don't be surprised if they will be very Batman-centric. With that said, here's the build for Day 1, a micro Batmobile, based on the Animated Series version! DCSAC Day 1: Batmobile by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Here is the lxf file: Batmobile.lxf I hope you like it. Comments and criticisms welcome. Happy Holidays!

    [MOC] Winter Village Display.

Hello EB Members! On the 4th of November 2014 I began construction of our LEGO Winter Village Christmas display. 8 days and 7 late late nights (2am/3am) later I have finished!. This has been my biggest MOC to date. Not that I have done many... This is my 2nd major MOC, but I have done about 7 small little 16x16 baseplate sized ones. The size of this display is Three 48 x 48 and One 32 x 32 baseplates wide and Two 48 x 48 baseplate deep. (1410mm W X 770mm D) It's lowest point sits on the actual baseplate, and at it's highest point it stands at about 34 bricks high! (330mm H) The whole thing is modularized and each building is easily detectible like a floor level on a "modular building". Throughout the build I have added in some things for the kids to look for like a Where's Wally/Waldo. They have to find: 8 x Elves 5 x Reindeer 4 x fire hydrants 3 x Owls Find everyone that is doing a sport ie: snow baseball, Ice hockey etc.. Everyday I move Bad Santa around and the Kids have to spot him in his new location. (since taking these Photo's the kids also have to find 6 toy Soldiers, the very same ones in the October bonus S@H set) The carousel works with power functions and the motor is hidden in the "shed" and the battery pack is underneath the shed in the underbelly of the foundations. Below are a few Photos of the display... You can view more photos in myFlickR Folder here. Thank you for taking the time to look. C & C are most welcome!
