  1. Ahoy, fellow Brickseasians! What's better than a ship? Correct, two ships. So here goes: 'Persévérante' and 'Comtesse de Praenia' These two new ships are the latest creations of the Royal Shipyards in Breshaun. Based on an innovative hull concept they were designed for speed and agility – both qualities which are prioritized by Oleander merchants as well as regarded crucial by Royal Navy officials in their efforts to secure Oleon's interests in the vastness of New Terra. To prove the versatility of their design, Breshaun's royal shipwrights decided to lay down two keels, a smaller one meant to become a topsail-schooner rigged merchantman, and a larger one designated to be launched as a light escort frigate. Work on both ships went smooth, even ahead of schedule, as the timber supply situation on Le Bellan has normalized by now compared to the time after hurricanes Helga and Stepho. After a series of early sea trials in September, Persévérante and Comtesse de Praenia now have to prove if they can live up to the expected performance. Persévérante Comtesse de Praenia About: Well, the hull concept started out as an experiment based on one part newly introduced to LDD by a recent update. Buildable? Yes. Stable? Well... depending on the number of added flex tubes anywhere on a scale from 'not-at-all' to 'not-childproof'. What else... I started with Persévérante, but as I had originally intended to build a merchantman yet ended up with a warship, I decided to build a second version – smaller and narrower – rigged as a topsail-schooner. And as it somehow didn't look like enough effort - despite being a new build (plus, there's no scale-function in LDD) - I added a full hull, which proved to be as annoying as the one on Santa Clara Unfortunately, I cannot show both ships in one shot, as both files are too large to be combined. So just some numbers: Persévérante: waterline 96 studs, overall length 142, beam 26, part count 6500+ Comtesse de Praenia: waterline 87 studs, overall length 135, beam 23, part count 6700+ Well, I hope you enjoy the two of them C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!
  2. Previous Builds: Concerns in the Ministries In the Dark of Night Lighting up the Diplomatic Furnace The Corrington and Oleon Diplomats were weary from several days travel. They decided to stop in at this inn in the Juniper Province for a nights rest before continuing on to Granoleon. The innkeeper looked out the window of the Blue Rooster Inn, and saw that a carriage had pulled up in front. Two gentleman got out and headed toward the door. Oleon Diplomat: "We will take a room for the night, a meal, and some wine for the evening. Our coach driver is putting up the horses in your lean-to as your boy suggested." Corrington Diplomat: "Some rum for myself." Innkeeper: "Certainly sirs. I have some very good rum and some mugs right here. I am sorry I don't have any good wine in stock. Darlene, dear, run and tell your mother to get some supper for three gentlemen. Then go make sure their beds are freshened up." As she hurried away, he said, "My daughter will have your room made up in no time. There are two beds per room so your driver can either sleep on the floor or down here by the fireplace. You are lucky that it is so quiet around here. A few weeks ago you would not have found an empty room. The soldiers coming or going on leave or official business took up most of my rooms. It is so quiet here now that they are gone." Corrington Diplomat: "So the soldiers have left this area?" Innkeeper: Yes, and my business is way down since then. Though we still have the traveler stopping by on trips. Men like yourself of course. We are after all the best inn of Juniper province. I have heard rumors that if the King traveled through Juniper province he would wish to stay right here at the Blue Rooster Inn." Oleon Diplomat: " Is that a fact?" Innkeeper: "Well it's what I heard AND we are the best inn around. Why else would fine gentlemen like yourself be staying here?" Oleon Diplomat: "You do have a point." Innkeeper: "If you fellows need to exit quickly tonight, I recommend going through the windows near the stairs. They lead out on to the roof above the horses, and... Corrington Diplomat: "Do we look like the kind of men who need to exit through windows!!?" Innkeeper: "Well you never know these days. Just last week I had a guy jump out the bedroom window while trying to escape a furious husband. It took me a week to get that cobblestone clean! Annndd he didn't leave behind any money to pay for the broken window. You just never can tell the kind of people around these days. Oh here comes your driver. Would you like some more rum?" 3. Admiral L'Atour looked around discomposedly. Together with his daughter Cariste he had sailed to Nova Terreli on the island of Nellisa to meet some business partners. He was already at high seas when rumors reached them about the Eslandolan king attacking Oleon. Arriving at the city he was most worried. His loyal guard Pierre was with them, at least, as they hasted through the streets of the town (which had grown even more since his last visit), always in unrest. Suddenly three men stood before them, two obviously guards and the third, a young man with wild hair but a tended face, seemed to be their leader. L'Atour laid hand on his saber. "Bonjour, monsieurs, mylady.", the young Eslandolan said with a friendly voice. "Good day.", replied L'Atour. "You seem worried? May I help you?" "Worried? I am quite certain you have heard the rumors as well! Of your king attacking Oleander troops?", L'Atour said, slightly losening his saber. "Oh no, this man is not my king anymore. And for you, there is nothing to worry. I don't think aynone on our island will share any ill thoughts against Oleon. Au contraire, in Pontelli they've even had a demonstration pro-Oleon! If you still worry, though, I invite you to be my guests, and under teh full protection of me and my family.", the Eslandolan said. "Thank you for your gracious offer, Don. And we do not even know your name." "Oh, pardon my manners", the young Eslandolan said. "Joaquin Seramon Fontonajo, second son of Román Esteban Fontonajo, governor of Nellisa." And while his guards bowed to their knees to honour their Oleander guests, Joaquin Fontonajo stepped slightly forward, breezing a slight kiss on the lady's hand.
  4. They came. And they plundered. It was a massacre. How could they have known...? They came from the shadows at night and preyed on us like vultures. They knew we were carrying the grandest amount of treasure the world had ever seen. And that we were heavily armed too. But that didn't stop those vultures from attacking us. We were taken by surprise. But how could that be? Each vessel in our fleet had specially appointed guards. And their orders were specific. Shoot first, ask questions later. But even these elite squads weren't able to protect us. Splinters everywhere. Blood. Screams and roaring cannons. It was too much for me. I was so young. This was merely my second trip as an appointed captain of a relatively insignificant cargo ship in our fleet. It was too much for me... I hope my family forgives me. I hope the world forgives me... (sound of a pistol shooting inside the captain's cabin) Bonus pic. Good vs Evil
  5. Prior build - In the Dark of the Night At the gates of the Pontis Wing of the Palais Royal in Granoleon the continued buzzing of diplomatic channels created yet another chapter. Lighting up the Diplomatic Furnace 'This is going to cost them' the Lord Chancellor thought to himself. It was an exceptionally mild day in Granoleon given the time of the year. Yet, there was a feeling of dooming winter in the air. Something was coming. He had experienced everything in his diplomatic life, still the recent developments were unusual – even to him. But strangely, as most of the Royal Court of Granoleon was afraid – some terrified princes had even left the city – Calida looked forward to their unveiling. It was the general opinion at the Royal Court and within the High Council that this time King Fernando had gone too far. First, there was the fact that he still hadn't withdrawn his ridiculous and illegitimate claim to the Oleander Throne. A fact, that didn't bother Calida much, and even His Majesty tended to look the other way due to Fernando's dynastic ties to the Royal Court. Then his forces occupied a small and utterly unimportant tiny little island somewhere in the Eastern Seas. A fact much more troublesome already, one that only with a lot of diplomatic goodwill could be seen as a move against Mardier alone. But now having Eslandolian troops attack and seize Oleander military installations. And rumors had it that he was assembling an army for a full-fledged attack against Oleon. This could no longer be ignored. The Eslandolian tendency to aggressively create faits accomplis had become too dangerous to bear. There were rules in this world. He had lived through too much to allow such rogue and dangerous actions to pass without opposition. He knew what appeasement could lead to. A line needed to be drawn. To this point, but no further! 'You have your orders.' Calida snarled at the diplomat. 'Make it happen!' 'Yes, your Excellence, I will see it through.' The diplomat replied eagerly, as expected from a devoted servant in His Majesty's service. Yet, something seemed to trouble him, something had him hesitate. 'Your Excellence, if this meeting with the representatives of Her Highness Queen Annetta goes as planned... does that mean...' The Lord Chancellor slowly turned his head and with a hissing tone he snapped at him 'Don't ask questions you won't like the answers to!' To be continued...

    [OL - FB1] The 'Triton'

Ahoy, mateys! Time for a ship - first one in a while, therefore something a little larger. The 'Triton' With Oleon's colonial possessions growing in numbers and importance to Crown and nation, His Majesty has decided to reinforce La Royale's 'Flotte de l'Est' with a number of heavy hitters over the next couple of months. The first one that has recently arrived in the waters of New Terra is HRS Triton, a 60 gun Man-of-War, now moored in Breshaun harbor, using Oleon's largest city on LeBellan as her base of operations. Triton is a veteran of the Forty-Nine Years War, one of the few surviving vessels of the Oleander fleet back then, and for some months even served as the Grand Admiral's flagship. She may be old by now, but in the hands of a capable commander she can still deliver a devastating punch to her adversaries. About: As always, all parts exist, so Triton could be built. To be honest, Triton's hull is more than four years old by now. I started her when I wanted to try out a galleon design, but quickly lost interest, as my mind wandered to other projects... well, a clear sign of a very short attention span Anyways, recently I dug her up again and decided to finish her, so she could take her righteous place within BoBS. As Triton is prefab based/limited, she's quite narrow, and the hull technique is rather outdated in my eyes, too, but all in all she doesn't look too ill proportioned. Some numbers: Triton's piece count is a little under 7000, length at waterline is 97 studs, total length 126, beam 20. One day I might try my hands on a more sophisticated galleon design... maybe Until then, I hope Triton serves Oleon well. C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!
  7. Prior Build: Concerns in the Ministries The situation in New Terra is developing by the hour, and the diplomatic services of Corrington are busily trying to keep ahead of things, continually preparing and adjusting the proper response. Recent developments has even prompted Corrington to put old differences aside and reach out to old enemies to ensure that order and law rule in the Brick Seas. Hence, representatives of different government branches have met with an Olean diplomat to send off a small delegation towards Granoleon with all possible haste in the dark of night. Only time will show what will come of this...

    [OL - CH4B] Bon Voyage!

Ahoy, fellow fleet protectors and plunderers! After the prequel, here's the continuation - Cat. B entry incoming! Bon Voyage! A week after the events in the green navy's HQ back in Terr... let's not do this again – green capital city – the esland... seriously?! – THAT nation's treasure fleet was on its way. The Kings Port Advertiser featured that awareness poster in its latest edition, the fleet had left Nell... that green island in the East – smooth, Mr. Narrator, smooth... without any incidents, and what was best of all – there were no rumors out on the streets about a large convoy filled with gold whatsoever. The green chief's plan had worked out. Kudos on that, Mr. green chief! Time to relax and have a look at one of the treasure ships en route, shall we? What have we got... this one right here, yes, the Santa Clara. Once famed expedition ship of whatwashisname Ivo Fortesque, now commanded by his son Pedro, and assigned a task not less important than the discovery of new shores – the collection of the riches of said shores. Yes, the Santa Clara, here she is. ...wait, is she being boarded by Oleanders? Ah, no, this is just a patrol, obviously helping the fleet to steer clear of the reefs and shallows in the tricky northern waters of LeBellan. Yes, Oleanders, what friendly folks, by the way much nicer than those uptight and arrogant Corries... but let's not go there. Back to the Santa Clara. Well, it seems she and the rest of the fleet will soon be on the final stage of their journey, on the finish-line so to speak, only save waters ahead – what could possibly go wrong now?! Bon voyage! … wait... I just thought I had seen something in the water... … WHAT THE...!!! What is this? What is going on?? Is this a... are those those... MINIONS??? *looses it* It seems... they've come up with a... device – wait, is that their toy from the sewers, but in big?! – and have drilled right through the hull of the Santa Clara... now vacuuming and shoveling the gold right into their dive boat! And nobody is taking notice!! They... they are sneaky geniuses!!! Oh my gods, actually, I'm not even mad, that's amazing!!!! *grabs popcorn* Well, it seems the narrator is gone for a while, so let me continue from here. Nice to meet you, let me show you my overhanging bowsprit... Ahem, let's better have some more pics of the MOC, after all we've barely just met... And lastly, the ships - together with their 'toy' versions: About: Well, where to start... as usual all parts exist, both vessels can be built. I finally managed to finish the Santa Clara, complete with a full hull - which in general is maybe the most annoying thing I've ever 'had' to build. Credits for the technique go to cb4 and Frank Brick Wright. As you can see the upper part of the ship merely rests on the lower hull, which might not seem that stable per se, but something tells me this works... Next, the 'device' - it's sort of a diving vessel, propelled mechanically, and - as the narrator has already pointed out - equipped with a circular saw and a drill for sneak attacks from down below. In case you're wondering where I got the idea from... well, I kind of grew up with it, as the 'Tauchboot' is prominently featured in an old GDR comic, that I've always loved. And the best thing: once the minions dive off, the cut out part of the hull neatly falls back in place... hopefully - otherwise the Santa Clara is doomed So, in the end it seems those Minions are to be reckoned with after all. Still not sure whether this qualifies as protecting or plundering the fleet Hope you enjoy C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!
  9. "Fleet ahoy" Suddenly, pirate captain Baboo stormed out of his cabin. Would it be the Eslandolan Treasure Fleet??? Would he become the richest pirate of them all?? Such an excitement.... "How many ships?!" "6... But..." "What?" "They seem to be blue..." "Megablocks, an Oleon fleet... Change our course!!!!" Well, that was disappointing for captain Naboo Baboo... This is one of the ships he saw, the blueish ship "La Mystique" One of my favourite parts below: Captain Giancarlo Fishandsth ^ Wait a minute, is that green and white??? Oh yes, I forgot to tell you that Lord Maximilian Damaximus bought some old Oleon ships and uses them to transport his part of the Treasure Fleet The ship is filled with Eslandolan soldiers, just like all other ships of this small fleet... And due this little trick, this part of the Eslandolan Treasure Fleet arrived safely at its destination. ----------------------------------------------------------- C&C Welcome! As I would not have my hull pieces in time, I decided to revise the (ugly) Carribean Clipper set of Lego. It was fun modifying it and the result is (IMO) satisfying.
  10. Deep within the jungle lives a shaman that goes by the name of Green Leaf. Travellers from afar come to him, because it is said Green Leaf can make dreams. He can make you see things that are not. He can take you on a trip while you stay still. Many people want to go on this trip. Not many people know Green Leaf is also known, among certain circles, as the Secret Taker. And among those circles it is rumored the Secret Taker is a man of great wealth.
  11. Ahoy, mateys! Here's my Challenge IV Cat. A entry - witness the return of the dreadful Colonial MinionsTM *evil laughter in the background* What Could Possibly Go Wrong?! Somewhere in Terelli... no, it is Tereli... no no no, it must be Terrelli... oh well, never mind... Somewhere in the capital of Esland... andia. Hmm... no, that's also not quite it, not really simply somewhere in the capital of Eslan... d'oh... ria... Alright, now: In the office of the Secretary of the Eslandian...doliander...ser... ahh, screw this... In the office of the secretary of the Green Nation's Navy. 'Have I made myself clear?' The Green Chief skeptically looked at the guy standing in front of him. 'Why again did I hire him?!' He thought. 'Okay, one more time. Here are two letters. The one in my left hand is meant to be brought directly to the admiral of the Esland... of our fleet. The letter in my right hand is for the chief editor of the Kings Port Advertiser for immediate printing. In short: The letter in my left hand goes to the fleet, the letter in my right hand to the newspaper. Do you understand?' The guy looked at him with a smile that strangely hadn't changed during the whole conversation – what a weirdo. Oh, sorry for that comment, I'm only the narrator here. Anyways, the guy went '…!' 'Right' the Green Chief now remembered the reason for hiring that fellow. 'You guys don't talk much. Yes, yes, yes. Splendid.' He couldn't have sent an official courier to the harbor, it was simply too dangerous these days, as there were spies and corrupt officials everywhere. It's Esland... olia after all. Sorry, another narrator comment. Where were we? Right... Dangerous. And the treasure fleet needed to be absolutely safe! So hiring a bunch of weird guys unable to talk as messengers – nobody would suspect a thing. Brilliant! 'Now, get going!' Confident with his plan, the Green Chief put on a smile, too. 'What could possibly go wrong?!' he thought. Oh, narrator here – again In case you're wondering what's inside these letters... Well, the one intended for the admiral contains a map with the route the fleet is meant to take from Nelissa/Nellisa/Nelisa/Nellissa. And the letter going to the Kings Port Advertiser contains sort of a poster add, reminding every green citizen to keep their mouths shut about state secrets – you know, matters of national security and such, pretty standard these days. Oh, narrator here once more, just FYI, that strange yellow fellow dude wasn't alone: It seems there's a whole bunch of – what shall I call them – minions living underneath the city in the sewers. Effing weird, if you ask me. But no one ever does, so, well, just have a look at them, and I'll leave you to it. Narrator out. And an overview of the map side: Last but not least, a detail of the poster side: about: Well, this was quite some fun bringing back the Colonial MinionsTM. Do they look like guys with a plan to you? Wait and see. You might wanna remember their strange toy for Cat. B What else... The poster is based on a WWII awareness poster, a simple google search will surely show it. As always, all parts exist, and the entire structure can be built, I think - it all fits diagonally on a 32x32 plate. With the right amount of clutch power the sewer water and the sea part with the ship should hold in place, as they are attached to the wall and additionally supported by bars. I hope you enjoy C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!
  12. David Beau Lune's background: As David enters Breshaun he feels like luck is on his side, he feels good and vaguely at home. He finally arrived at the town the girl of his dreams is supposed to live. At least according to an innkeeper in New Oleon. Eager to find her he wanders around the port thinking about where to start his search. "Is this the end of my journey?" he wonders out loud. "Orrr the beginning of an *hic* adventurre?"; a drunkard said. Allthough the guy was clearly the most drunk person David had ever seen, what the man said sparked something in David. Cheerful her replied: "Or the beginning of an adventure indeed, good sir." The guy didn't even seem to hear or understand him and continued on his not so steady way. David, tired from the journey, decided it was time to get some rest in an inn. Further down the road he saw a soldier standing, he surely must know where to find an inn, David thought. "Excuse me sir, can I ask you something?" The soldier turned around, his serious look turned into a smile in the blink of an eye. The soldier looked like a young lad, younger than David, younger than he had expected. "Ofcourse sir." The soldier said. "I just arrived here in Breshaun and I am looking for a good inn to get some rest, do you know of a good place?" David asked. "Sure, I'll walk with you sir, it is just around the corner from here." "Thank you very much! My name's David by the way, nice to meet you." David extended his hand. The soldier took the shake: "The name's Avery sir, Avery la Jambe-Longue." --- This is my first build in this time of age. Quite the change from Star Wars and sci-fi, but I'm glad the way it turned out. C&C appreciated! Bonus pics:

    Sloop "Crete"

After almost a month, mostly occupied by work and fending off nightmares and denial about rigging, making sails and sewing, i proudly present you the merchant sloop "Crete". Pictures were taken from my secondary source of photographing (mobile) so photos aren't that great. But you can get the idea. This is my first attempt at a brick built hull and the famous Dunkleosteus hinge technic. I believe it works wonders, regardless my omission to sloping the stern. For those you think the hull is too tall (i had my reservations too), imagine it 2 bricks lower due to cargo carrying when put at sea. Regarding the tiller design, i haven't found a better solution, so after 5-6 iterations, i just went with the one you see on the photos. Finally i wanted to brick-build the main mast too but i ran out of round 2x2 bricks way too soon so out of my frustration, i used the mast of the recent TLG pirate ship nearly unchanged. BL orders are on their way so i guess my next ship will be more personalized. Inspiration came from all the great photos and designs and articles about sloops of the 18th century. For those who want to take their try on handmade sails and sewing their ship's rigging, i have an advice: Don't despair! In the faaaaaaaar end, it will look nice. Until then, get a very nice desk lamp and fortify yourselves with determination and patience. There were more than a dozen times i wanted to discard the whole project during the rigging phase and i cant believe there are sane people that build scaled wooden replica ships. Oh, i nearly forgot it! Credits for the Eltina flag, goes to KB for the design and Kustom Bricks for its implementation. Anyway, I believe this is a 3T trade ship so if everybody agrees i will stick to this category, unless the board at the Admiralty promotes it to 4T More pictures follow (some more on Flickr as well) and as always, thanks for watching!
  14. The Tides have Changed by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr The uniform fit loosely in certain places. The shoulders sagged softly, unsupported. But Avery hadn't expected tailored attire like the elaborate clothes and fine linen the family was accustomed to. That stage of Avery's life was over--for now. Avery had less muscle tone than the usual boy of his age, and looked far younger too. His big eyes and soft cheeks were yet unhardened by life. No salt clung to his wavy caramel hair. Though it had recently been hand-cut, his bangs fell unceremoniously over his eyes. He brushed them aside as he stepped through the "Portail de la Victoire" La Portail de la victoire was a decorative arch marking the entrance to the docks from the fortifications. The gateway served as a reminder of Oleon's supremacy on the waves, and their countless victoies at sea, as they sought to tame these new and wild lands in the name of their gods. That's what the statue meant to most residents of Breshaun, but to Avery, the gate held a different meaning. As he stepped through it now, in his new uniform, his pack in hand, thee gate was the threshold between his old life, and the new. Not more than a year ago, the "De la Jambe-Longue" name would immediately be recognized in any high society event as the name of one of the most famous artists in the king's court. Daniel de la Jambe-Longue had made quite the positive impression on the late King Stephan II, who commissioned from him many a portrait and religious painting. And Daniel was skilled... but proud. His cleverness served to be his undoing, when he slipped symbolism into what he assumed would be his magnum opus, which conflated a clerical rival of his with the tyrannical Titans who came before the gods. They say that pride comes before the fall. Now Avery stood under the gate, between the bustling docks of Breshaun, and the neat and orderly sea-side fortifications. Between the streets that held Avery's old part-time residence, the de la Jambe-Longue family's Breshaun townhouse, and the cobbled road that held his new residence, a wooden bunk and some dirty tanned cloth in a brick and stone fort.... That is... until the HMS Titan-Slayer was returned to working condition. Avery was not to be a land-based soldier. He'd enlisted in the navy, and would be a member of the crew aboard the famous pirate-hunting vessel known as "The Titan-Slayer." But the ship was still under repairs after a run-in with its primary quarry, the infamous pirate lord "Reynard LeRoublard." The New Oleander pirate had made a name for himself terrorizing the seas of the Old World, and headed east to be a founding member of the Sea-Rats, but then abandoned them on Bastion and returned to the west. Unbeknownst to many, but suspected by Avery, upon the Pirate Lord's ship, "the Titan's Tithe" was none-other than the escaped Daniel de la Jambe-Longue. Avery was determined to rescue him. Only by confronting the Order could the de La Jambe Longue family restore their once grand name... and truthfully, he feared for his safety and well-being. Daniel was family, and family was everything. The Tides have Changed by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr So Avery stood there, below the stone of the arch, contemplating his future. He turned. He walked up the winding path to the fort. Fates change as often as a woman changes clothes, Avery mused. ~~~~~~ So, this is my first Freebuild and Introductory build. Gotta get that 25 DP! I won't licence it, as that feels like a waste to me, but I might later on if I'm feeling flush. It'd be a Small Art and Culture property if I did. I know this comes into play for determining analogous unlicensed properties in Breshaun's total Trade value, so I'll leave this here as well as on the Breshaun Settlement page. Forgot about my "First Free Licence" so It's now licensed. I've finally joined! Comments and Critiques are more than welcome. I don't often build historical structures. I've always been more of a sci-fi fan, so any recommendations are more than appreciated. Bonus pic of the Titan-Slayer's Captain, Etienne du Coeurgris standing below the arch. Unlike Avery, he is far more decisive about his direction, for his is the way of the gods, and the way of the law, and the way of light. [OL-FB2] The Singsong

Here we have a fine trading vessel (Class 2 Cutter) which swears fealty to Oleon and is a member of the Oleon nationalized trading company. Captained and crewed by a trading outfit from New Oleon, the Singsong specializes in speedy transport of everything from fine Oleander wine (Best on the Brick Seas) and pepper, to purple and blue murex dye from the coast of New Oleon. The crew recently had a falling out with the Carno trading company "Rosencrantz and Gildenstern Dye" and have been working exclusively for Oleon. However, they do have their own symbol, comprised of a lavender circle with white wings, which they've embellished certain barrels with. The Singsong by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr The Singsong by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr The Singsong by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr The Singsong by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Here we see the captain at the helm and his first mate on the quarterdeck The Singsong by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr The Singsong by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr The Singsong by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr From left to right. Kel-Kun: The ship's craftman. Can do anything from carpentry to rope-making. A jack of all trades, but master of none. Also a fantastic swimmer. Raised on the coast between Pan and New Oleon diving for pearls for the Order of the Faith. Monsieur Personne: A Member of the Oleon-wide nationalized trading company. Mostly land based, he helps the crew load and unload their stock in the busy port of Breshaun. Un-Ome: The Ship's cook an midshipman. Well-learned and faithful to the gods. He's also a skilled navigator, when needed. First mate Gars: A clever trader and honourable gentleman. Well-networked, and always knows the right thing to say. Not to mention, he is a true wine-connoisseur. Captain Mec: The captain is a fun-loving adventurous soul. He's well-meaning but can occasionally be too relaxed with orders... and the law... He was (probably) a member of the Oleon Navy at some point, but serving the law didn't suit him well. Nonetheless he is a savvy soul, and we'll liked by all for his natural charisma. He's also a talented musician. Monsieur Gen: A Member of the Oleon-wide nationalized trading company. Mostly land based he helps the crew load and unload their stock in the busy port of Breshaun. ____________________________________________________ I'd love to hear your critiques and criticisms. I'm really no expert on sails and rigging, and found that to be a lot harder than everything else. I know for a fact I messed up the front sails. Also I wish I knew how best to photograph this thing. Hull is inspired by the Organic ship hull technique. I originally thought I was basing it off of something specific, but couldn't find it when I tried to. Not entirely satisfied withthe hull shaping. It's something I'll work on in future builds. Any comments and critiques are more than welcome! this is my first age of sail boat. It was a learning experience, but I want to learn more. Any wisdom from the more salty of seadogs would be super appreciated ~Insectoid Aristocrat

    Granoleon state prison

Hello people! This is an adaptation of a medieval MOC i created a couple of days earlier. It was a Crusaders vs Falcons siege but i couldn't miss the opportunity of an Oleon free build (and the 10 DBs that come along), so i adapted it accordingly and now you can see a State prison located in Mainland, Granoleon. Note that in my LEGO life, i have always regarded blueco...eeeehrm, Oleon Empire as a spiritual successor to the Falcons faction . As always, thanks for watching!
  17. My entry for Royal Coronation Festivities. In Breshaun everything is almost ready for tomorrow's visit of His Majesty and Queen Beatrice. Army has its general rehearsal, tailor is cleaning his show windows etc. Baron Nicolas has come with his sailboat to Breshaun's port to pick up some goods for his estate. 18. The hunting of youth source Following the footsteps of father Tholeau, Diego Mpyromaxos de Valdés with a small group, began the search for the fountain of youth.. After several days in the jungle, and faced wild beasts, hungry natives, poisonous reptiles and nature elements, they finally managed to find the fountain of youth! Diego and his friend officer of Oleon Arsène, can now return to New Terra and tell the good news to the king .. who certainly will not leave them with empty hands, but he will give them honor and glory.. But it looks, that they are not alone out there.. Thank you for reading and good luck to all the challengers! C&C are welcome !
  19. Oleon Vs Namere build off part 3.. The silver parrot.. and the secret beneath the lighthouse.. And so the investigator following the Pine Sol traces reached a hardware store attached to an old lighthouse. On the outside the shop appeared as any other hardware store in New Terra, but things tends to be deceiving... It is said that… If you want to find anything in New Terra, you will find it at the "Silver Parrot"... - Aye Hugo.. We 'll eat today!! - Good evening, I am looking for Pine Sol. - Good evening dear sir. We dont have such things in our store. - Maybe with 100 DB you can search a bit more? - Hmm, in that case I can do something for you... Follow me into the basement. There we keep special stuff for special customers... - This is the best Pine Sol in the whole New Terra - You see, that's interesting because recently a big amount of it was bought by a certain Namerean "sir" that stole some Oleander ships and used it to clear all his traces on board the ships.. Strangely enough, these Pine Sol traces lead to your shop… - I swear I had nothing to do with it!! - If you want to get away with it, I want proofs when and to whom you have recently sold your Pine Sol. Or else... - Right away! Here you are! These are my secret ledgers… -Eureka!!! This is the whole MOC, representing the third part of the Oleon-Namere build-off. C&C welcome! The basic idea for the multilevel moc it came from Jacob Nion here.
  20. "Grump, how isolated could a lighthouse be?" Ed Spill didn't know wether he should be happy or weeping. His great evaluation of the Pine Sol factory had given him a chance on promotion, and he had been glad to accept. Had, past perfect. He hadn't known that the promotion was from evaluating factories to evaluating lighthouses. See wether they were guarded in all safety, with respect for environmental blabla and wellbeing of the coast guards. In se, that wouldn't have been so bad (everything but having to see that awful Lord Damaximus again!) he had even bought a new costum (freshly ironed by his mum), but well... Noone had told him to expect this: he was standing on probably the smallest isle in the (un)known world looking to the oldest lighthouse in that same (un)known world. And not only the oldest, also the dirtiest. He was afraid his costum would be rubbish after this visit... And his mum certainly wouldn't like that. Anyway, time to inspect the lighthouse... "Have you lost anything?" Yup, failed in the category warm welcome to strangers. Spill: "Yes, that is no, I've come here to inspect this lighthouse. See wether it is guarded in all safety, with respect for environmental blabla and wellbeing of the coast guards, you know." A sudden tought ocurred to him: "Wait, your boss isn't called Damaximus is he?" Guard: "Nope. I'll call the boss, t-he's doing a tucky." Aaand failed in the category boss helping workers. Boss: "You there? Who are you? Make you known or you'll get it in the neck!" Spill, afraid the boss might be some hippykicking relative of Damaximus: "Hello Sir, I'm Inspector Ed Spill, and I'm here to see wether the lighthouse is guarded in all safety, with respect for environmental blabla and wellbeing of the coast guards, you know." Boss: "Hmmm. I'll give you a tour then. Don't want bad relations with the Commission for Maintanance, Repair and Erection of Lighthouse in the Royal Region of Islands Known By Absolutely Noone. But not like we care about safety-regulations ot he environmental blabla here, you see?." Spill: "True story." The boss stenched like pigs. Spoiled pigs. Boss: "Actually, your quite lucky: we have just gotten a cargo of about three tons of cleaning detergent, you see." Spill did more smell than see it: "Yes, I know that. Pine Sol, isn't it? I hate that thing!" He was sure his theory of Damaximus and the Boss of the lighthouse being in league against him was confirmed. "Let's see..." Spill took up the bill. 3 tons of Pine Sol, these men were crazy! Why on earth (if they were still on earth, this island was so isolated he wasn't sure anymore) would someone need so much cleaning detergent? Well, it was not his problem, and he wanted to be gone from this godforsaken lighthouse. Next thing on his list: insurances. Spill: "May I see your insurance please?" Boss: "Here here, we're very ensured, you see?" While handing over some sandy papers. Insurance: this Pine Sol was made with respect for the environmental blabla -Spill didn't believe a word of that - and safety regulations for it's workers. That was true, if you didn't see pinguins as workers. If it doesn't remove all traces left by your latest crime, you can ask for a refund here:... Now, that was interesting! Spill: "Boss, what does th..." He is interrupted by a large thunderclap. Spill: "What was that? That wasn't the thunder; it were firing cannons! Take me up to the top, boss!" ---------------------------------- So, here my build finally is! I hope you like it, and it will also be used in the Faction Action category of the Summer Joust, now guess wich faction I'm not totally satisfied with the result, so CC is very welcome!
  21. "Grump, how isolated can a factory be? Such a long journey... I hope I finally get that promotion so I can sit on my lazy "behind", enjoying my cup of tea every morning instead of travelling allover the world inspecting factories..." With these words, Inspector Ed Spill entered the lighthouse factory. This time he had to check if the world famous Pine Sol they made here, is made in all safety, with respect for environmental blabla and the wellbeing of the workers. How long would it take before the owner of this factory kicks his megablocks and throws him out. The record is 15 seconds... That was at a time he visited a factory in Stedor. Too bad for Ed Spill, it was Lord Damaximus, the big boss of that factory who welcomed him. The moment he said "wellbeing of workers", Lord Damaximus kicked him out of the factory, yelling something about "hating hippies". It was indeed time for that well deserved promotion of Spill. Now he thinks about it, he better should buy a soft cushion for under his behind as his behind hurts a lot due all that hippykicking. Anyway, time to inspect this factory... "Velcome, noble stranger. How can ich help you?" A voice said above him. Ed looked to the balcony, seeing a weirdly dressed guy commanding all the workers. Already failed in the category "boss helping his workers". "Hello sir, I am Inspector Spill, Ed Spill. I am here to rate your factory considering environmental blablabla and safety for your workers." "Hahaha Spill-Ed, Dat iz very funny accurate in my factory!" - the boss replied - "Ich am dr. Pine Sol von Lichtenhouse" "Never heard that joke before..." [drPSvL] Az you can seeh, we have de most innovative equipment in here. We have a crane, pinguins, workers, a fire-pit, some barrels and a Hocuzpocuz-bottle-filler. [spill] Pinguins? [drPSvL] Jawol! Dey got de perfect body-mass-index to pulverize de Pine-Leaves. Das is de ruse of our Pine Sol! [spill] So pinguins, who basically live in the coldest places on earth, are working in a factory, next to a fire pit? [drPSvL] Jawol! Very true! Ich have to admit, dey are very expensive upkeep. [spill] Seriously? Do tell me why... [drPSvL] We have to send dem on vacation every 2 weeks to de very far Nord. Oderwise dey are striking too much. Striking pinguins are never fun working with. [spill] So every two weeks your factory has to close for 2 weeks? [drPSvL] Oh noo, we got plenty enough pinguins. One pair of pinguins on holiday, oder pair is working here. [spill] Allright, and what happens with the pulverized and stamped Pine leaves? [drPSvLH] Dey are added in a big barrel soo dere can be red Corrie Chemical Company Alchemist cubes added. De rezult is bleu Pine Sol! Az said, we got de most innovative technology here... [spill] So those are dangerous Alchemist cubes, and that guy touches them with his skin? [drPSvLH] Oh no! After he lost hiz eye due a chemical aczident, we gave him bandana. He still haz his hair thanks to our precious care! [spill] I was talking about his hands, but thanks for the info! [drPSvLH] Aaah but he haz yellow gloves. True story! [spill] What is the guy with white bandana doing around the big barrel? [drPSvLH] Once de ingredients all turned to blue Pine Sol cubes, he throws dem into de big barrel. Sehr efficient! Now de craneguy fills a grey box with Pine Sol cubes and makes it hang above de firepit. [spill] And the completely red guy with red bandana? What is his job? [drPSvLH] He haz to navigate the box... True Story! [drPSvLH] Und once de cubes are fluid, de box is placed above the HocuzPocuz-Bottle-Filler. Top Notch! [spill] I see... And the grey rat on this floor, what is his meaning in the whole process? [drPSvLH] No idea, nein. But what about your banana in your handz? It haz no meaning neither, haz it? [spill] Point taken... Thanks for the quick tour, I am going now back home. [drPSvLH] You are velcome! Take care, becauze I hear thunder in de distance... Is it thunder? --- Thanks for watching!! C&C welcome :)
  22. Hi guys, I guess it's still the 25th somewhere on the dark side... of the moon So here goes, part II of Oleon's side of the build-off with Namere. Investigating “A fresh lemon scent.” That was all that the crew of La Recouvrance noticed when they arrived at their rendezvous point with Scimitar and Commerce de Breshaun. Nothing else. The ships were gone. Other crews had reported seeing a ship flying a changing set of flags, causing them to run, since only pirates would change their flags to unlawfully prey on ships. And several reports hinted at an involvement of the Namerians, so Granoleon decided to have the ambassador in Balmin launch an investigation. The Royal Court knew the Namerians were opposing any trade relations with the Marderians, and would offer letters of marque to anyone to interrupt trade routes. But there hadn't been any trade between Oleon and Mardier in years, so should the rumors of an Namerian involvement turn out to be true, seizing both vessels would have been an act of piracy, not to be justified by any letter of marque! So a private investigator was hired to shed some light on the mysterious disappearance of the two ships and Namere's role in this story. The investigator's first stop were the docks in Balmin. But so far he has had no luck finding any traces. But suddenly... could it be? A fresh lemon scent! It's a start. But will it lead somewhere? Thanks for watching C&C as always welcome! Vive le Roi!
  23. Baron Nicolas, his brother Baron Pierre and their friend professor Cartier are very close to discover the Fountain of Youth. Professor Cartier: According to this map, the fountain should be right here... Baron Pierre: There is nothing here, we are at the edge of the island and in front of us is only an open sea... Baron Nicolas: Hm, very strange, the map is supposed to be correct. Maybe, it is beneath us, but now we must find an entrance to it. The Fountain of Youth by Nikola Đurić, on Flickr
  24. A continuation of Blackdeathgr's In the jungle MOC. As always, comments and criticism as well as suggestions on how to improve my building skills are appreciated. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Groaning, Captain Anthony Genaro attempted to raise his arms as he slowly opened his eyes. The last thing he remembered was the battle between his ship, the Pride of Poseidon and some pirate schooner that came upon them in the night. He was helping the crew of Death's Fire, gun number 2, after two of her members were killed by some grapeshot from the pirates. "Wha.. what happened, what's going on?" moaned Genaro, a constant pounding in his head preventing him from thinking straight. The sounds of sporadic gunfire, music, and men shouting didn't help either. "Captain's awake," Genaro heard familiar voices whispering, and then in his left ear "Sir, it's me, Benjamin Leon, sir." "Yes, yes, of course" groaned Genaro in reply. "Well, sir," Leon continued "well, we was fighting fine until the block struck you on your head. After that, with no other officers, the ship kind of fell apart and we was boarded." Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr As Leon told the rest of the tale of their capture and imprisonment, Genaro looked around. About half his crew was still alive, chained in groups of three or four men with a drunken pirate guarding each one. The remaining pirates were busy dancing around a bonfire, celebrating their victory with looted liquor and "my hat!" exclaimed Genaro. "Those savages have taken my hat!" "Aye, they looted anything of value, and what they didn't take they destroyed" Leon responded. At this, Genaro sat silent, reflecting on his present predicament. Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr "Did you hear that?" said Leon, interrupting Genaro's silence. "Hmn?" Genaro said looking around. He had been so deep in reflection that he didn't hear Leon. "I just asked if you heard that noi..." but a cry of "fire" followed by the roar of muskets drowned out Leon. Taken completely by surprise, the pirates were quickly overcome by their attackers, loosing all but one man in a few moments. Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr As one of the marines moved around, bayoneting the fallen pirates to ensure they were dead, the leader came towards Genaro. Genaro was barely able to take in the man's strange appearance, two pistols and a steel breastplate, before Genaro was free and being helped to his feet. "Tom Jones, at your service, sir" the stranger introduced himself. Of course, thought Genaro, "Juggernaut" Jones, one of the most feared explorers in all of Oleon. "Captain Anthony Genaro, deeply in your debt" replied Genaro. "But I was told you were exploring Tyche with D'Offren." "Which I am, sir" said Jones to Genaro, "but I'm afraid we can't talk much more here, we're simply a scouting party and I expect the rest of the pirates to arrive any moment." Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr At this, Jones went off to help his men search the pirate camp for anything useful while Genaro picked up his hat and sword from a fallen pirate. "Look here" said one of the men, "Blessings of Zeus with you, man" cried Jones to the sailor. "It's a map of the island! D'Offren will put this find to good use!" Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr As the explorers and the liberated seamen prepared to return to D'Offren's camp, one of the marines called out "and what should be done with him" gesturing to the sole surviving pirate. The rest of the crew fell silent while Genaro picked up a pistol. "Piracy against a ship belonging to the Crown of Oleon is punishable by death" said Genaro as he filled the pistol with powder and rammed a bullet down the barrel. "And unless any man can vouch for his innocence, we shall administer swift judgement before we leave." None spoke up, not even the pirate who simply stared at the ground as Genaro raised the pistol. "May Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades have mercy on your soul." said Genaro. Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr

    [OL - FB5] The 'Diligente'

Ahoy once more, laddies! Yes, it's another ship. The last one - maybe even for a while, since I'm all out of medium ship-MOC ideas. Well, let's get to it: The 'Diligente' Convinced of the potential of a new hull design developed by naval architects at the Royal Shipyards in Breshaun, two keels were laid down. The first one would later be known as Commerce de Breshaun - which proved resistant to even the most perilous sea conditions. The second one was to become a warship, now finally launched in late May 616 AE - and she will hopefully be as seaworthy as her civil cousin! The Diligente is a frigate of 32 guns - 26 twelve-pounder long guns on the upper deck, 6 eight-pounders on the quarterdeck, plus eight-pounder bow- and stern-chasers. A nimble vessel, agile, yet armed to the teeth - may she serve the Empire diligently! about: As always - all can be built, except for flags and sails, and one would have to use minifig hands to assemble the handrails at the beakhead. Can't make out major differences to Commerce de Breshaun? Thanks, I take this as a compliment Diligente intentionally looks similar to a high degree to emphasize her affinity with Commerce de Breshaun, but it took a major effort during the redesign to keep this look The entire broadside concept had to be adapted to apply the new colors and to make space for gunports, yet increasing her structural integrity, not to mention (re-)rigging her, deck re-work, minifigs, and so on. With 6500+ parts, Diligente's piece-count is 1500 pieces higher than Commerce de Breshaun's. All in all I think I spent way more time redesigning Diligente than I spent on constructing Commerce de Breshaun in the first place - but she was worth every minute C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!
