  2. Román Esteban Fontonajo and his wife Clarissa Raltessa are dressing up for the Great Ball of King's Harbour. They went to one of Román's own smaller businesses in Nova Terreli to buy some new clothes. Much to the dislike of the grand landlord and entrepreneur and former Admius Legistrad. But she was right: They couldn't keep wearing the same boring clothes everytime yet expect people to buy their latest fashion all the time.

    The Candidate

Part 1 - The Highest Position Part 2 - Glorious New World Part 3 - Handling Business Part 4 - Winning the people Part 5 - The Candidate Part 6 - The Safe Harbour Plan Part 7 - Beyond Part 8 - The Launching Part 9 - Denied Part 10 - Admius Legistrad "I remember as if it was yesterday, when in this city and all over the island, we declared our independence from Fernando Augusto, who many of us have called The Mad King. And right we were!" Román Esteban Fontonajo gave the crowd a while to cheer. Hating on the king was always a good opener. Now came the critical part. "But even a mad man can become reasonable. Sure, it was our glorious Trade Companies, people like de Chauncourtois, Wyndzon or Guilder, who, while not courageous as we Nellisans from the very get-go, made him reasonable in his very dormatory - a fantastic coup I say - " Cheering, again. Román Fontonajo gave them their time. "So Fernando Augusto came to reason, and the Magna Charta was signed, granting us in the New World, the Glorious New World I say!" - this time he didn't let the cheers interrupt him - "GRANTING US the rights to officially decide our own fate. Like we have always done! But now we will elect an official council, and order will be restored! And no king shall ever rule us again!" Another echo of cheers erupted from the crowd. "Many brilliant minds have worked on our new constitution. I have had many long night discussions with Wyndzon, the Governors Damaximus, Guilder and Servadac, with de Chauncourtois, Monezterell and others. As usual I have given my input - no pardon me - our input from Nellisa even before Fernando Augusto was surprised in his nightsuit." He really had to stop with these king-jokes now. "But there is one slight problem." He paused, giving the crowd a brief moment, long enough to consider, but not long enough to conclude. """We Nellisans have not yet officially accepted the constitution. But - We will change this. TODAY! NOW! I hereby declare Nellisa to be an official part of Colonial Eslandola. I hereby declare that we accept the glorious constitution of Glorious Colonial Eslandola.""" Some cheered, others were slightly puzzled, trying to figure out what had just happened, trying to make up their own minds. Now was the moment to strike, to win them. "And to make sure that we, the inhabitants of Nellisa, the most brilliant and most colourful pearl of New Terra, will be heard I will represent us in the Colonial Council myself! - Román Esteban Fontonajo, as representative of the Sea of Thieves? Now YOU tell me! WHO DO YOU WANT?!" Now the cheers bulged, erupted, clashed. "FONTONAJO!", they shouted, uncoordinated at first, but soon in unison. "FONTONAJO, FONTONAJO, FONTONAJO!" Juan Alfonso Fontonajo stood there, silent as usual. Once again he admired the brilliance of his father. He still had a long way to go. They both had to. But the first step was made. Finally.

And even in the colourful city at the northwestern coast of the island, the pearl of the "Sea of Thieves" region, not everyone prospers. There are beggars and homeless people, living in the streets. Less hungry, usually, and less miserable in general than the poorest in the old world, yet still miserable. When Román Fontonajo walked through the Riverport-district, he saw one of these people, leaning to a wall, an apple in his hand and an empty frying pan besides him (was that one meant for collecting money or for cooking?). Compassion flooded him, and the richest man of New Terra took off his cloak, bowed down and handed it to the beggar, along with the bread he had just bought for lunch. "Tank you, mylord.", the homeless man said, showing his non-existing front-teeth. "We aren't lords here in the new world. We represent the people.", replied Fontonajo. "But you gonna represent da Sea of Thieves region in that Council thing, ain't ya?", the man said. Fontonajo, slightly puzzled by the man's knowledge of recent political changes, set up a smile: "You think I should?" "Who else, mylor... mymaster? You are da one!" "Remember then, that your vote counts as much as mine.", Fontonajo stated, smiled, and continued his path. He knew many eyes had seen him, and sure it had been great publicity. But that was not the reason - his generous deed had been honest. He knew he had to do more for the people once elections had gone through.

Part 1 - The Highest Position Part 2 - Glorious New World Part 3 - Handling Business Part 4 - Winning the people Part 5 - The Candidate Part 6 - The Safe Harbour Plan Part 7 - Beyond Part 8 - The Launching Part 9 - Denied Part 10 - Admius Legistrad "So what do you think?", Román Fontonajo asked his son. Juan Alfonso replied: "You are right, father. You are the only one. But I am not sure about myself." "You have handled much of our business as well as Nova Terreli on your own already, Juan. You are the commander-in-chief of the Castillo. And you knew that day would come. You of all people in this new world are the only one who does not have to doubt, my son. And you know it as well as I do.", Román stated. "Thank you, dad.", he said and hugged his father. "Now go and make Eslandola great again!", said Juan, with a cheeky smile. "I am not sure about that slogan yet...", Román murmured, leaving the room. Juan Alfonso Fontonajo was left alone in his personal study near the harbour of Nova Terreli. The city where he would soon be mayor.
  7. Part 1 - The Highest Position Part 2 - Glorious New World Part 3 - Handling Business Part 4 - Winning the people Part 5 - The Candidate Part 6 - The Safe Harbour Plan Part 7 - Beyond Part 8 - The Launching Part 9 - Denied Part 10 - Admius Legistrad Román Esteban Fontonajo had just reached the highest spot on the island of Nellisa. On top of the Terreli Hills stood a small tower, that Fontonajo's men had built years ago. Not only was it a great watchtower to protect the roads and farms from outlaws. It was also the best spot to think about his strategic plans on the island. Román came here whenever he needed time to think. Now that he stood on top of his tower, the suggestion from Willem Guilder and Guy K. Wyndzon circled through Fontonajo's mind. In his early years in the colonies he had not been an active member of Eslandolan politics. But that had changed, especially over the past year. He had become mayor of Nova Terreli and had taken the Viceroy's fortress in a military coup. He was the first to openly oppose King Fernando, even before the latter had attacked Oleon. And he had declared independence for Nellisa, and had become the de-facto-governor of the island. Nellisa had not yet officially accepted the constitution, nor had he. But that was about to change. All was about to change.
  8. Part 1 - The Highest Position Part 2 - Glorious New World Part 3 - Handling Business Part 4 - Winning the people Part 5 - The Candidate Part 6 - The Safe Harbour Plan Part 7 - Beyond Part 8 - The Launching Part 9 - Denied Part 10 - Admius Legistrad From his tower Román Fontonajo looked west. Down the hills, across the many cotton fields, along the road, passing some other farmland, or small forests, or the palmtrees on the coastline, his eyes took sight of the colourful city - Nova Terreli, standing proudly at the Nellisan coast. The second largest city in the new world, some said. It was about time for it to become larger than Breshaun. He looked further, to the harbour and beyond, and there he saw all the ships from all the nations entering and leaving the port, carrying goods and riches, bringing wealth to both the old and new world. Oh Glorious New World, he thought. One day this will all be one, and every single person will live in prosperity. But who was capable of the task ahead? He stood there for hours like this, thinking actively. He weighed strategies and options, considered one future or the other, outcomes, scenarios, inventions, everything. But the more he thought about it the more he realised that he had long made his mind. Following his intuition he turned, climbing down the tower, mounting his horse. Guilder and Wyndzon were right. He had to. He would be back to Nova Terreli within an hour.
  9. Around seven miles east of Nova Terreli a small ridge called the Terreli Hills rises to a height of approximately 300 metres. At their foothills Román Fontonajo owns a huge part of the lands. Young men from the old world come over to make a fortune, start their own lives and bring their families soon after. One of these men is Dilano Guerva from Terreli in the old world. He is running a medium cotton plantation in the area. On Fontonajo's land of course, and as Fontonajo's business partner. The deal is simple: The price for cotton is set, slightly below market average, yet more than enough to make some good profit - because after all Dilano has to pay neither for the small house nor for the land he farms. And of course Fontonajo knows the best ways to use the cotton for further profit. Win-win. It will only be a year or two until Dilano will have saved enough money to bring his wive and two young boys to the new world, and maybe buy some land of their own, or make a new deal with Fontonajo.
  10. Previous Builds: Concerns in the Ministries In the Dark of Night Lighting up the Diplomatic Furnace Blue Rooster Inn March of the Grenadiers After having arrived at Nellisa, Montoya had had his plate full. New Terra had experienced large scale privateering, naval invasions, hostile claims on the Olean throne, and heavy build-ups of naval forces by competing powers, and of course, Corrington could not stand idle and had landed troops on Victoria Island. Further, a secret, yet well-established Mardierian Colony on the same island had been unveiled, leading the major powers to reconsider their positions. Much of this had fallen on his plate, and therefore, he had retreated to a study in Nova Terreli owned by the Royal Society. As a member, this was a privilege he often took advantage off, as not even the most hospitable of hosts (amongst which Fontonajo was certainly to be counted) could offer the complete discretion and tranquillity needed for scientific or diplomatic work. Having just finished a report on the recent declaration of independence of Nellisa, he returned with a frown to the recent directives from the Ministry of Finance. Being narrowly concerned with finances and profits almost to the degree of an Eslandian, the temporary minister of Finance, Lord Pennington, had continuously thwarted Montoya's efforts to serve Corlander interests in New Terra. Pennington was a man of the old world, and Montoya had come to suspect that he was more concerned with his own career than the good of the country. During the recent events on Victoria Island, Pennington had almost succeeded in rendering all Montoya's efforts useless, damaging foreign relations and eventually throwing Montoya into disrepute with the Crown. Whether this was part of a Brickiavellian plot to throw Montoya out of favour, side-effects of Pennington's ambitions, or blatant incompetence, Montoya was not sure, but would do his best to find out. Leaning back, he smiled as he heard the newspaper boy exclaim the latest headline. At least Pennington hadn't been able to thwart this... Meanwhile, outside the study: "Special Report! Corrington announces armed neutrality! Buy the Pontelli Gazette to get the full story!" The newspaper boy shouted to the assembled crowds. "Following King Fernando Augusto's renewed claims on the Olean throne, the Crown of Corrington has issued a statement that Corlander neutrality will be enforced with force. Forces of King Fernando Augusto found to be trespassing on Corlander soil or territorial waters, whether for offensive or defensive manoeuvres, will be met with the full extent of her Majesty's armed forces." While a few soldiers were worried by these news, most of the populace seemed happy to find Fernando Augusto's plans frustrated. ____________________________ Just a little build to propel our story, set of a few rumours of (IC) disconcert in Corlander circles of power, and most of all, to proclaim our armed neutrality.
  11. Please consider that this post is 100% IC, thank you. What is this guy telling the crowd near that warehouse in Nova Terreli? What does it say on his scroll? Why did he bring Fontonajo guards? And why is Montoya listening so carefully? Find out either here: or here:
  12. Admiral L'Atour looked around discomposedly. Together with his daughter Cariste he had sailed to Nova Terreli on the island of Nellisa to meet some business partners. He was already at high seas when rumors reached them about the Eslandolan king attacking Oleon. Arriving at the city he was most worried. His loyal guard Pierre was with them, at least, as they hasted through the streets of the town (which had grown even more since his last visit), always in unrest. Suddenly three men stood before them, two obviously guards and the third, a young man with wild hair but a tended face, seemed to be their leader. L'Atour laid hand on his saber. "Bonjour, monsieurs, mylady.", the young Eslandolan said with a friendly voice. "Good day.", replied L'Atour. "You seem worried? May I help you?" "Worried? I am quite certain you have heard the rumors as well! Of your king attacking Oleander troops?", L'Atour said, slightly losening his saber. "Oh no, this man is not my king anymore. And for you, there is nothing to worry. I don't think aynone on our island will share any ill thoughts against Oleon. Au contraire, in Pontelli they've even had a demonstration pro-Oleon! If you still worry, though, I invite you to be my guests, and under teh full protection of me and my family.", the Eslandolan said. "Thank you for your gracious offer, Don. And we do not even know your name." "Oh, pardon my manners", the young Eslandolan said. "Joaquin Seramon Fontonajo, second son of Román Esteban Fontonajo, governor of Nellisa." And while his guards bowed to their knees to honour their Oleander guests, Joaquin Fontonajo stepped slightly forward, breezing a slight kiss on the lady's hand.
  13. It was a dull autumn day when Juan Alfonso Fontonajo, Román Esteban Fontonajo's heir and current commander in chief of the Castillo de Nova Terreli and the city's armed forces, entered a battered tavern in the shady parts of Nova Terreli, with no guards at his side. A farmer went slightly behind Juan Fontonajo. Inside the dive a lot was going on, but the loudest turmoil could be heard from a table in the background. Sailors, harbour-workers and other men stood there, arms drawn, centered around a small pig on top of the table. Fontonajo approached them, fearlessly: "My dear friends, what is going on in here?" "We gonna kill dat pig!", shouted one of them. "This honourable farmer here told me you stole his pig and threatened him? Tell me, is that true?", Fontonajo said, looking at the men? "He named da pig Fernando Augusto! Like da mad king! Traitor he is! Be happy we ain't hanging him, Sir!" "Ah, my friends, I see", Fontonajo laughed. "I guess we have some misunderstanding here. You don't think that he names a pig, of all the animals, to actually honour the king?" "Ehrm... Well..." "See, I guess we have solved our problem now. In fact all this good man did was mock Fernando Augusto by naming a dirty pig after him." "Yer right, Sir Fontonajo! Very right! But da pig Fernando gotta die!", the man with the meat cleaver exclaimed! "Hold on. First let me show you how I deal with a pig that does not behave himself", Fontonajo said in a calm voice. He took a quick step forward, grabbing the apple that the pig was currently eating. "First I take away from the pig everything it desires!" He took a step back, and held the apple up high. "Then I take it away from the pig's limited sight. And after that all we can do is laugh at that pig!" "Fontonajo!!!", one of the men jubilated. "Deal with the pig!", another shouted. "Fontonajo should be our king!", one exclaimed. And then things escalated quickly. One of the men suddenly held a crown in his hand, wherever he had gotten that one from, and put it onto Juan Fontonajo's head. "King of the Colonies!", he exclaimed. "King of the Colonies!", the rest of the tavern began to shout, raising their arms in jubilation. "King of the Colonies! King of the Colonies! King of the Colonies! King of the Colonies! King of the Colonies!" Juan Alfonso Fontonajo however, with a massive smile on his face, took off the crown and spoke to the men: "You don't need no king! Yes, your king I could be, and what a great king I would indeed be!", he stated, confirmed by some jubilation from the crowd. "But we have seen that a king is not good for us here on Nellisa. You should decide for yourself. Your rulers should be those who actually care for you, not some random king in your distant homeland. There is no need for a crown. There is no need for a king in Nellisa. We all together shall rule this new Eslandola! Please remember that when the time comes." And with those words Fontonajo left the tavern. Back on the streets he still heard them, loud and clearly: "King of the Colonies!" "King of the Colonies!" Bonus shots of the whole MOC and of the guy who had a little too much to drink:
  14. As news of the Treasure Fleet spread like wildfire through the Brick Seas an enterprising groups of light fingered locals decided to see if they could "redistribute" some of the treasure themselves before it was loaded onto the ships. Having managed to find one of the warehouses by the docks the gang set to work, unwilling to confront the guards at the door they needed another solution. DSCN9548 by Phadeout, on Flickr It had all been going so well... DSCN9550 by Phadeout, on Flickr This treasure would at least make it safely to the ships, after that who can say.. 15. Prior builds: In the Captains Cabin (Bregir) Pieces Of A Puzzle (Ayrlego) Arriving at Mooreton Bay (Bregir) Plundering the Treasure Fleet (Ayrlego) Two weeks prior to the events in Mooreton bay... It was a busy day in Nova Terreli's harbour area. Captain Corvus Rohgert from Garvey and his daughter Ellissea walked towards a green house that was well known to many sailors and captains in town: "Mayne's Black Cannonballs". In his factory Aurelio Mayne pours good iron-made cannonballs. But that's not why he is well known. It's his special (and secret) black enamel varnish in which he paints the cannonballs, giving them a special dynamic and additional strength when hitting their target. Mayne also started selling other goods, like dynamite or bullets for guns, but only the cannonballs are actually self-made and the source of his success. Román Fontonajo had long ago realised the potential of Mayne's method and financed the factory for a fair share in profits. "Hello there", captain Rohgert said when he entered the sales-room. "Good day, sir! How can I serve you?", Aurelio replied. "I, Captain Corvus Rohgert, need quite a few cannonballs for my ship, the Shareka." "You are from Carno, right?" "Is that a problem?" "Not in the slightest, my friend! Your daughter, I assume?, seems bored. How is your name, little lady?", Aurelio asked. "Ellissea", the young girl replied. "That's a nice name. Your daddy and I need to do some talking, but we won't need too long." "... so 640 cannonballs delivered to the pier until tomorrow evening.", Aurelio said. "Yes." "But pardon, good sir, that I ask: What is that kind of ship, that needs 640 cannonballs? Your Shareka must be a 5-rated, no, that must be at least a 6-rated ship?!" "Haha! My Shareka is far from that. A class 3 at best, I'd rather rate it class 2, if you ask me. Quite well rounded she is, though. But..." "... yeah, I know, it's actually none of my business, am I right?", Aurelio replied. "Quite right. So we have a deal?" "Yes, Captain Rohgert. Our delivery will be in time." "And here is your money.", said the Garvian, handing over the golden coins. "Thank you, thank you. Good travels, captain!" "Good balls, ballmaker! Come on, Ellissea, time to go. Say bye to the man." Back on the street Ellissea asked: "Daddy, why do they need so much gold to make those cannonballs? Wouldn't iron be cheaper?" Corvus looked at her, frowning: "Gold? Cannonballs are not made from gold, my dear. You do indeed pour iron." "But they did take gold!", Ellisea insisted. "Gold? Really? That does not make... wait! ... gold... black colouring... hide it.... brilliant! ... oh... Ellissea, are you absolutely sure?!", he stared at her. "Yes, daddy. I am not stupid, I know how gold looks. They use gold, very much gold" "So that's where they have hidden the gold in here... Oh wow, Janszoon will like those news. He will indeed. Oh sweetheart, we are gonna be so rich! Rich, you hear me?", he said, laughing. She smiled: "Can we buy some chocolate then?" "It's cocoa-lait, darling. Like cocoa from Cocovia with lait, which is Oleander for milk. Don't ask me why they mixed it like this. But of course, of course, we will buy you cocoa-lait or chocolate or whatever you want to call it my love!" Yes. The young Ellisea had seen correctly: Aurelio's men currently also made cannonballs of gold instead of iron, which they then painted black. Román Fontonajo had been given order to organise the transport of a large portion of the gold for the old world and had been confronted with the task to bring it on board of the ship - without letting anyone know. Who would suspect black cannonballs to be made of gold? A brilliant plan indeed, Aurelio Mayne and Román Fontonajo had agreed. Little could they have foreseen that a small girl named Ellissea from Garvey would pry their secret and tell her father, who would then provide the information... to his boss, captain Janszoon of the Dark Oak, privateer from Garvey, just waiting for his chance to become rich... And it was a lot of information: Confirming what the treasury clerk had told them. He now also knew that at least a part of the treasure fleet started from Nova Terreli. And of course he now knew that even though the gold might not be visible it would still be on the ships. Well hidden in cannonballs.
  16. Reference MOC To King Fernando - Augusto VII of Eslandola Your grace, since the viceroy has left both the city of Nova Terreli and the island of Nellisa on his quest for the fountain of youth, I could observe certain tendencies of unrest within the people of the island. As mayor of our greatest city in the new world I feel obliged to fulfill my duty towards my beloved country and uphold the order in the city. Today I have reinforced the troops of the Castillo de Nova Terreli. The garrison has given us a warm welcome and was more than happy to have us alongside them. My own son Juan Alfonso is now commander in chief of the Castillo. Please be reassured that I will always do my very best to uphold the Eslandolan values in the new world, and remind the people who they owe allegiance to. Eslandola's most loyal servant Román Esteban Fontonajo, interim-governor of Nellisa Mayor Román Fontonajo, his son Juan and their soldiers enter the Castillo The garrison opens the doors and warmly welcomes the mayor of Nova Terreli Juan Alfonso Fontonajo, new commander of the Castillo, on top of its watchtower The Golden Nellisei, a private army of the Fontonajo family (will license a platoon)
  17. Even for Román Esteban Fontonajo some days are still special. This is one of these days. Opening the "Bank of Nellisa" in Nova Terreli, as the central point for all commercial activities on the island, puts a smile on the Eslandolan's face. Shipbuilders, adventurers, merchants, captains, even smugglers or pirates - they all need some money from time to time, and they all want to deposit some for worse times. Today a well known admiral of a small trade fleet is coming with two of his man, bearing a chest so full of gold, that it didn't even all fit in. The Fontonajos have appointed Helios Caraja as the director of their bankhouse in Nova Terreli. He has stored a lot of files in his office already, waiting eagerly for the first customers. Money is the only currency he knows, and that's all the Fontonajos need for their bank director. There are two counters. Because not everyone will get to talk to the director. Juan Alfonso has just closed the big safe where most of the gold is deposited. Little does he know that the first burglar is already inspecting the outside of the bankhouse. A glimpse into the director's office never hurts: The Bank of Nellisa in Nova Terreli - your place to deposit money!
  18. A (large) factory in Nova Terreli (Nellisa), producing barrels, chests, crates boxes and other means of transporting goods: 1 year earlier: "We all know trading is important", Román said. "But is it the most reliable source of income? No, sure it isn't." "You are quite right, nephew", replied his uncle Raphael Fontonajo. "But what do you plan to do about that?" "You know, uncle. I plan on making profit with those that trade. Like... a hotel for them to live in. Or building a bridge and asking for toll when the traders want to pass. Or sell them horses and ships. Or even go down to the most basic things." "What do you mean?", Raphael asked. "Like... saddles for the horses. Or sails or ropes for the ships. Or even barrels or chests to produce their wares." "Barrels? Like Barrels for Berreli? That sounds like quite a slogan." "Uncle... I think I should do that...", Román replied. Only a few weeks later the Barrel Factory of the Fontonajo family had opened. Román had bought the ground of the old quarry of Nova Terreli, just a at the rim of the city which had grown so immensely over the last years. The quarry had long been deserted, because stone was now imported, while the people in the city focussed on trade and other more financially lucrative work. But Román knew that place fitted his needs perfectly. The pit was a small cellar for his factory, and the house that they had to build now wasn't even a large one, which reduced construction costs even further. The business was running perfectly. Román bought wood and nails and some other things, and his workers manufactured chests and barrels and boxes. Some of them were brought to the Fontonajo Cotton Plantations, or to the family's trading ships, while others were sold on the markets of the city, and even others were just shipped to other islands like Berreli. Barrels for Berreli had really become a thing, after all.
  19. The "Strada Iniesta", named after Román Esteban Fontonajo's father, is one of the older areas of the city. It comprises many living houses, but also some taverns and smaller shops or workshops. Taberna Caldo is the original home of the Fontonajo family in Nova Terreli, and thus one of the oldest buildings in town. Originally the ground floor was used to welcome business partners and also to serve meals for the important people in the new world. In the many bedrooms of the upper floor Román and his family had lived for the first four years of their time in Nova Terreli. Until they had moved to their new residence. Nowadays the big house is the home of one of the better taverns in town, known for the great wine and also good and decent meals like they are cooked on the Eslandolan mainland, enriched by some spices from the new world. The rooms in the upper floor are now used as a small hotel to give home to merchants and other guests from afar. It is rumored that for an additional fee some ladies provide some extra services. And of course, most revenues of the tavern still go to the pockets of Román Esteban Fontonajo.
  20. The "Strada Iniesta", named after Román Esteban Fontonajo's father, is one of the older areas of the city. It comprises many living houses, but also some taverns and smaller shops or workshops. The picture below presents one of the residences owned by the Fontonajo family. It's a smaller house, currently rented by a middle aged man called "Santiago the Magician", who minds his own business, whichever this may be.
  21. Allow me to represent a small factory in Nova Terreli, the Red Top Rum Distillery, makers of the drink of choice in the choicest dockside rum bars with it's guarantee that "your eyesight will return within two days or your money back" it has proven already to be a hit in the dock district. It is based in a former residence which has gone to ruin as has the rest of the neighbourhood, although business is picking up again you will note the boarded up windows, ivy growing everywhere and damaged roof typical of the location. Although the walls add brightness the whitewash is really quite thin and the area as a whole needs some work to get it looking as attractive as other parts of Nova Terreli. Red Top Rum Distillery (i) by Phadeout, on Flickr The interior shows the top floor is where the magic happens with the vats producing both white and golden rum and the ingredients being prepared; downstairs is where the rum ages (but not for long!) and is then bottled or left in casks for deliveries to the local drinking establishments. 22. With Alejandro currently incarcerated and charged with murder Ignacio "Nacho" Quintero, his former valet and now junior partner, has the reins. Nacho has assembled a team of men to help him explore the waterways and surrounding rock formations up the Terreli River after reports of precious metals found in the river come back to him. A bit of prospecting (i) by Phadeout, on Flickr A bit of prospecting (ii) by Phadeout, on Flickr This team seem to have been the luckiest so far - the men attribute it to Rasher, their good luck pig who seems to be able to sniff out valuable things. A bit of prospecting (iii) by Phadeout, on Flickr Further analysis will need to be done but it looks like Rasher has triumphed.
  23. Down at the edge of the beach in Nova Terreli is a warehouse owned by MAESTRO. Stored there are rolls of sail canvas and large spools of hemp rope, for MAESTRO ship repairs. The warehouse was built upon a raised platform in such a way as to leave a ledge at the back (seaward) wall. The man in charge of accounting for, and dispensing, the supplies therein is Quartermaster Bastian Touw. Two years ago the playwright Tragian Altidore befriended Bastian. This permitted Tragian to use the ledge as a stage, after clearing a bit of brush to set up seating. Tragian used the space as a practice venue to try out new prose for an audience of select, trusted friends. Recently Tragian has converted to the Triuri faith, and has now invited Dearji the Windsong to sing and help his friends to understand the glory of the Triuri. ". . . i mewn neh tahweil chawr." Dearji finished the Song of Resting in the old tongue. (From left to right) Tragian Altidore in his bardic finery. Arsbeth Westerlond, Tragian's new 'lady friend', is a little unsure why she's here. Riy Kul is doing his best to learn about the other cultures of this world. (Left to right again) Riy Kul has a token he will offer to Dearji after her performance. Tolan duBroise is sipping a little local wine as he lets Dearji's soothing voice wash over him. Quartermaster Bastian Touw thought this was going to be some sober, holy address, like those Order of the Faith ceremonies that he got drug to by other friends. He decides to reach for the bottle of fine uisge that Dearji has furnished him with. ----------------------------------------------------------- Just some shots of the plants and the build empty to show the seating design. ---------------------------------------------------------- These are the first Lego images taken with my new cell. Hopefully, with practice, I will have some more quality pics from now on.
  24. Island: Nellisa Settlement: Nova Terreli Location: River Port Licence-Type: Commerce (large) Owner: Román Esteban Fontonajo Román Esteban Fontonajo had long ago realised that while sending ships across the open sea towards other islands was crucial to his family's success in the new world, upholding transport and trade on the island of Nellisa was almost equally as important. The River Port in Nova Terreli at the shores of the Terreli River has been and is till today the single most important transportation hub towards the inner parts of the island. Román had started setting up his warehouse and many other buildings a long while ago in the heart of the River Port and still controls most commerce going on. Every day of the week a lot is going on in the river port of the glorious city of Nova Terreli. People are loading and unloading goods to the ships, and trade at the market stands of the crowded streets. Románs uncle Raphael views the city from the balcony of the warehouse besides a business partner of the family. Two soldiers in the service of Queen Annetta from Corrington arrive in a small rowing boat. As always there is a helping hand, welcoming the guests to the River Port. Román's brother Rialto Espada watches carefully. The Oleander officer seems a bit lost at the customs office, paying his toll. Román does know the value of toll for both his and the city's pockets. A wagoner is bringing some cotton from the plantations. Of course he is drinking while driving, as everyone should do. However some people, according to the looks on their faces and the knife in the boat waiting for them, can't be up to no good. Románs eldest Juan Alfonso Fontonajo rides through the streets, heading towards an important meeting ... While Román himself and his wife Clarissa Raltessa watch the scenery from the roof of their warehouse. The Nova Terreli River Port is key to the success of the Fontonajo family and the city of Nova Terreli
