    Emperor's Citadel MOC

This is the 2nd part of my Castle/LOTR theme. Built with a Kings Mountain Fortress as a core keep, I expanded the size and height of the walls to give a more realistic look. Due to strapped wallet, I bought blocks in bulk via eBay, and used light gray paintspray to give them that rocky grayish look. The citadel has a stable, a jail cell, a market, a small farming lot, armory and a forge with a prominent chimney. Garrisoned there are the castle keepers (plate armor light gray helmets not uniformed), citizen militia (heavy armored/green archers), and the imperial guard (dark helmet, pearl gray armor, lion plate armor). The towers have the LOTR uruk hai ballista, and there is an Elven princess (the Emperor's future wife) inside the keep. The Dragon King's army is being mobilized to capture the Citadel after destroying the 4 lesser kingdoms of Men (the dead king's crowns serve as the army's standards). Though well protected and fiercely defended, the monstrous army set to conquer it won't stop till razing it to the ground. Will post pics during the day IMG_20141018_073319835 IMG_20141018_073312823 IMG_20141018_073242508 IMG_20141018_073308786 IMG_20141018_073257916 IMG_20141018_073226908 IMG_20141018_073328890 IMG_20141018_073303060

    Dragon King Army MOC

This is the first part of my MOC. Using various Castle and LOTR figures, I built a Tower Fortress for the evil Dragon King and a fearsome army to siege and destroy the Emperors Citadel. The army is composed of Uruk Hai Halberdiers, Dragon soldiers (Spear, Sword, Axe), Evil Knights with Ninjago blades, 8 barbarian minifigs, two dragons hauling catapults (4) and two (2) siege towers with one (1) Troll pushing one and a horse team the other. Approx 320 minifigs. More pics More pics
  5. Hello guys, I would like to share few picture of the current stage of my Helm's deep. It's still missing the rock formation on the left and also the amount of Uruks isn't sufficient yet. I've also found out that i am not a good MOCker so don't be too cricital. :) Anyway here we go: Thanks for your attention!

    [MOC] The Balrog

Here I would like to share with you a Lord of the Rings MOC that I have been working on for quite some time now. Here I present to you my take on the most fearsome of demons from Middle Earth, the Balrog: LEGO Lord of the Rings - Balrog by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr LEGO Lord of the Rings - Balrog by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr LEGO Lord of the Rings - Balrog by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr This beast contains over a thousand parts and is very poseable and can stand up on it's own two feet despite being relatively heavy. The chain which I used to represent the Balrog's whip is held up by means of craft wire, but other than that, it is completely purist. The final model ended up being mostly dark bluish grey as you can see. Black may have been better suited to it, but some of the vital textural parts used on the arms and legs just do not exist in black, hence the colour choice here. A gallery containing more pictures and a special fire effect POV-Ray render can be found in this Flickr album, near the bottom. If you would like the LDD file, it is here. Note that most of the flames are missing here. I do hope to eventually build the entire scene with the Balrog from the Mines of Moria sequence of Fellowship of the Ring, so stay tuned... Thanks for looking, and I hope you enjoyed looking at this MOC!
  7. Good evening! I am happy to announce that my project to build the company of Thorin Oakenshield from the Hobbit films. The project began 656 days ago in a land of which kind no longer exist in Middle-Earth when I posted bust of Balin in November 2012. It sort of grew into a full Balin, and got a brother Dwalin, and a cousin Oin, and some random Bifur guy... And well, I decided to build the dwarves, and then somebody asked (probably here on on EB) asked if I'd build Gandalf and Bilbo. And well, I did. You probably remember some of these MOCs (Kili even made it to the front page). The new ones here are Ori, Bilbo and Gandalf. Of course the story of the company doesn't end here. There will be conventions and exhibits to visit with these guys. There's heaps of more photos on my blog. Enjoy. At least I did enjoy building them!

It is almost sure that LEGO The Lord of the Rings is over. To most of us the line feels incomplete with the lack of several important characters (like the Witch-King, Eowyn, Sauron and Faramir), factions (especially Gondor), buildings (mainly Minas Tirith) and creatures (like the Balrog, Treebeard and mountain trolls). Many of us feel that this theme needs just one wave to 'complete' the LEGO Lord of the Rings. Even only one set, which is preferably set in Gondor, could solve most of our problems. For example, you can make a Battle of the Pelennor Fields as big as you want (depicting several stages of the battle and the preceding events) with the Witch-King on fell beast, Éowyn, wounded Faramir, Gondor soldiers, a mountain troll, a piece of Minas Tirith, etc. To raise awareness I would like to start a petition to let LEGO know that we care. I know some of you think this will not matter, but maybe it will. If we get enough support maybe we can at least get an official statement from TLG that LEGO LotR is over and why. I am working on the format right now, but to make this a strong statement I could use your help. Thank you very much for your help.
  9. Hey guys. I wanted to share my tower of orthanc with you. I added two floors and after saving up some money,i finally decided to complete the tower by giving him a back wall. Besides Helms Deep this is my second mod. I even have room to display it. ;-) Steps inside one of the added floors. Yes, the trap door is working. Inside of the other added floor. It was tricky, but i wanted to keep this room with all interior. Front Side Outside of the upper added floor. Balkony of the lower added floor. More spikes. Adding more height. Back wall and additonal pics: Sorry for the unprofessional pictures. Critics and comments are welcome.
  10. I hope that you may enjoy this MOC. For the Christchurch Brick Show 2014 I build an accurate Topographical LEGO Map of Middle Earth. I measures 2×2 meters and consists of 7 levels. It took approximately 30.000 bricks and four months to build the map. All the main characters of both books are presented on the map as minifigures. Even the path of the ring is illustrated through a breadcrumb style line of golden 1×1 round bricks. The map is accurate as much as a map of a fantastic land can be. I heavily consulted The Atlas of Middle-Earth by Karen Wynn Fonstad. This project was made possible through a strategic grant of LUG 4/2. I also created an album at Flickr and a webpage for this MOC.

    [WIP] Barad Dur

I haven't posted many MOCs here lately because I've been a bit busy with this guy. I spent about two months designing designing things on paper (literally, I play with Lego to get away from computers so I rarely do much with LDD or MLCad) and about eight months building and rebuilding the model itself. The tower stands a bit over four feet tall from base to crown and is made from a ridiculous number of small parts for something that weighs about as much as a teenager. There's a six foot strand of LED christmas lights in the lava moat at the base to try to break up the black a bit, but other than that, everything else is pure factory issues Lego. I still consider this a work in progress as: a) I haven't come up with a good solution for the Eye of Sauron despite having built several dozen at this point (bricks, cones, flames, helmet plumes, radar dishes - still haven't the right look yet) b) There's still work to be done on the base (outer guard towers, flume delivering molten rock to the lava moat etc.) c) I really need to learn how to photograph big black, highly detailed ABS surfaces. This thing is way too big for my light box and I've yet to take a photo of it that does it justice. The base is about 2 feet by 3 feet and the lower ramparts are a system of concentric rings tied together by radial walls. It's nominally hollow, but there's a lot of internal buttressing, arches, and technic structure buried inside to support the weight of the upper tiers. If you're curious, I have a few more photos (of equally poor quality) over on MOC pages I welcome all comments, questions and suggestions as to how best to finish and photograph this beast (particularly if you have any great insights in to the design of a 10 stud diameter Eye of Sauron that doesn't look cheesy). Thanks for stopping by.
  12. Hi guys. I just thought I'd share my humble project with you all. I have been working on building the entire interior of Bag End based on the floorplan from the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings films. I'm not a great photographer and only have the camera attached to my phone so please bear with my lower quality photos. View down the west hall: The kitchen: The entrance hall: The parlour: The kitchen: The parlour: The kitchen: The parlour: The parlour: I am still waiting on some bricklink orders to finish the study, pantry, dining room and bedroom. The ultimate goal is to build the exterior hill once the interior is complete, though I don't know if I'll have the bricks for it. UPDATE: I finally found some time to devote to this again. Here's a little more: The dining room feast: The dining room from the other side: The pantry: View down the hall: The floor plan as requested: As you can see, I still have work to do on the left side of the house. I'm waiting on more wall bricks and floor tiles to finish the study (where we see Bilbo's desk and he writes in the Redbook of Westmarch), the bedroom (Briefly seen during the part when the dwarves sing the Misty Mountains song) and the hallway leading to the rear exit which is not seen on film. I haven't even begun planning the roof and exterior and I'm not sure if my wallet can handle that anytime soon. Update II: My mailman stole $60 of bricks from me so I've put this project on a back-burner for a while. But I did finish these two rooms... Bilbo's bedroom seen very briefly in AUJ: Bilbo's study:

  18. Right now it doesn't appear we will be getting a 2014 LotR wave and the theme may possibly be done. I am hopeful we will get a wave next year as there is just too much missing. If not though, what would be the ONE thing you want to see come from the LotR theme? This can be anything not done yet.. a minifigure, a structure, a creature (brick built or molded), etc. Basically what is the one thing you would want to see before the line ends? Personally I think it's a Gondor Soldier for me. A nice Gondor printed torso would all me to make my own Pippin and Faramir in Gondor attire as well as obviously covering the one big faction still missing from the Middle-Earth Lego universe. Eowyn can be created using existing parts and a Balrog/Fel Beast/Mumakil can all be brick built and MOC'd. Really the only major character that can't easily be re-created is the Witch King, though technically we could have him in his normal Nazgul hooded form and we will get his ghost form with the Hobbit wave. I feel like Lego not making a Gondor soldier does not leave us with any easy options to make our own since the white tree print and helm are so unique.

    MOC: Nori

Here's the next dwarf on my project - Nori, the thief. Nori was an average dwarf to build expect for the head and its odd starfish hairdo. I specially like how the eyebrows came out. The beard braids use minifig legs as the array of brown joint pieces is rather limited. More on Cyclopic Bricks, photo on Flickr. Hope you enjoyed! I guess Fili will be next, but it might take while since I'm running out of dark brown pieces!

    MOC: Glóin

Hello fellow Eurobrickers! Here's Glóin, son of Gróin, brother of Óin and father of Gilmi, the newest addition to my Hobbit dwarves MOC line! The beard was the first part I built, as usual. I threw it together on the last summer if I remember correctly. Designing the torso invoved both some basic and some more complicated SNOT techniques. Glóin has some packs and bags on his belt as he's the money behind the operation. The arms and hands are posable. The shoulders have ball joints while the elbow joints work with T-bars. The boots are rather simple, but I'm very happy with the round shape. Sons of Gróin. See more on Cyclopic Bricks and photos on Flickr. Feedback would be pleasant.
  21. After looking at some of my LotR characters I decided I would go one step further in making them stand out by giving them hair pieces. The problem is I am not sure which are the best hair options. The main characters I am looking at right now are Eomer and Theoden. Eomer in particular needs to stand out because the cloak alone just isn't doing it for me. I have tons of other minifigures with his face, torso, and helm serving as generic Rohan Soldiers and the cloak is the only thing I use to differentiate Eomer from them. Theoden is already pretty unique with his brown and gold armor but I would like a hair piece for him as well when he isn't all geared up. What have others found to be the best hair piece for these two characters? I was looking some up on BL and it seems the female hair pieces are the best for Eomer as he has fairly long hair? Which is the closest match to his hair in the movie though? I also would like to find some better hair for Gandalf and Lurtz if anyone has any good suggestions for them, though they aren't as important. Their current hair doesn't really look that good and I am sure there are better options out there.

    Balins Tomb

Hello All, Here is my entry into the Middle Earth Lego OIympics over on Mocpages. Barad Dur Bracket: Category: "A shadow lurks in the dark. We cannot get out...they are coming." I am facing the very talented opponent Josh Walter, and his amazing entry. Man, I have to stop with these last minute entries, they are robbing me of all my sleep. :P So this was built in around 3 hours, I did not get as much detail as I wanted, but I am alright with it. So this is a creation from both my imagination and from the movie. The lines in the floor, and some of the minifigs were all from my imagination, but the rest I tried to stay true to the movie. Enjoy! Artistic Photo, no photoshop! Soli Deo Gloria! ~Matthew~

    [MOC] Lady of Lórien

Hello The MELO goes in the second Round. And here is my entry to the given quote: "Your quest runs on the edge of a knife, stray but a little, and it will fail." I took the opportunity to try my hands on a iconic Lothlorien treehouse with the typical elvish architecture. More pictures of the scene on MOCpages Jonas.
  24. Hi everyone, Speculations are coming whether there will be a next wave of LOTR sets this year ot not, since there are no sign of them. There are several scenes/caracters that we miss so much! The most iconic is – at least for me – Minas Tirith! I dared to design something, that could be released as an official sets. I tried to think with TLG’s head, regarding piece and minifig count and playability. This is what I came up with: The whole set with Minas Tirith gate, Grond, the tower with the signaling fire with some minifigs. The Grond from a closer view. The ram itself is hanged on chains, so you can swing it, when you try to break the gate. Because you can break the gate! You can see two technic bars at the two side of the gate. [1st picture] If you remove them, the gate can be pushed back from forward, imitating the siege, when the Wolf’s head crashes the gate. The rear view. The gate can be closed. I admit, I run out of steam with the furniture, so it’s a little empty. That was not my main point. :) The minifigs: Rear row: Two orcs in battle armor, Gothmog and a Cave Troll. First row. Pippin in Minas Tirith Guard outfit, Gandalf the white and two Gondorian soldiers. Disclaimer: I used the parts that are available in LDD so I had to live with its limitations. No proper LOTR troll mold and no new molds of course (For Gothmog’s head for instance). And the whole model is a compressed version of part of the city, but it is not unusual in official LEGO sets. The tower with the fire is not so close to the gate, but I wanted to add as many play feature as possible. The Citadel was left out though. I don't think it could be built together with the gate without making the city to small. Yes, there is a ballista. Remember, think like TLG.
  25. So now that the sets from the second Hobbit wave have been out for awhile, which is everyone's favorite and why? Personally I am torn. I think Mirkwood Elf Army has some nice figures but the build's not that impressive. Lake-town Chase has a much better build that is more accurate to the film but the figures aren't as good (but they still are very nice). I like that Dol Guldur Ambush has hair and ears for the orcs and Beorn is a nice minifigure, and of course Dol Guldur Battle has some nice minifigs as well with Azog and Radagast, but neither DG set has a great build imo. I think overall I would have to go with Lake-town Chase as my favorite with MEA in a close second. If MEA would of included an armored elf or two I think that would of hands down been my favorite set. Usually I am a huge army builder fan but as it stands MEA just has too many issues; Thranduil is great if you buy the set once but beyond that is redundant and hard to use, the walls are pathetically short, and 3 elven scouts are too many when they are all the same imo. So, what is your guys' favorite wave 2 Hobbit set?
