[SPC] Cat B - A Tale of Two Outposts

From the Diary of Captain Abraham Mayhew, July 14,1733 It has been eight days since my ship crashed upon the rocks of this desolate island. I have found an abandoned garrison stocked with supplies and weapons and am now patrolling the roof, searching for passing ships on the horizon. I raised the old pirate flag I always kept hidden in my cabin this morning in hopes that it may be noticed by a sharp-eyed sailor, but these waters are infrequently traveled and I fear I may be marooned here for some time. Luckily I have some company in a monkey I found stealing my lunch the other day. I have decided to call him Wilson, after my deceased father. [SPC] CAT A - The Black Hole 6

The Black Hole 6 The Black Hole 6, a ragtag team of the galaxy's most ruthless criminals, travel across the vast expanses of space, leaving nothing but devastation in their wake. They get their name from their founder, Captain Henry Ward, who was found drifting out of a black hole in the Triangulum Galaxy. His original crew rebelled against him, took his left arm, and left him to die in the cold unknown. He later assembled a group of pirates who would sail across space with him so he could get revenge on his former crewmates. The Black Hole 6 became known throughout the stars for their savagery and greed. Captain Henry Ward - Henry Ward has always been a somewhat crazed man, but many believe the weeks he spent adrift in space caused him to transcend into a whole new realm of bizarre. Some government officers refer to him as the "Wicked Wackjob," but they know better than to call him that while in his presence. Ward always wears black, most likely due to his obsession with darkness of outer space. Despite his unstable mental state, he is said to be quite cunning at times. He is missing his left eye as well as his left arm. He is also quite fond of his Laser Axe, as he is rarely seen without it. First Mate Daniel Montbars II, "The Exterminator" - Daniel Montbars II is the long lost descendant of Daniel Montbars, a 17th century pirate known for his violence. Montbars II inherited this brutality, as well as his predecessor's title: "The Exterminator." Montbars II is a ruthless killer who only joined the Black Hole 6 for a chance to satisfy his bloodthirsty nature. He wears lead-spiked pants to go with his spiked shirt. He is a man of few words; he tends to let his legendary Chainsaw Sword do the talking. Some would argue that his name is more feared than that of his Captain. Ian Fiore, "The Sightseer" - Ian Fiore is the crew's sharpshooter and weapons specialist. Fiore has undergone many body modifications to make himself a more formidable foe. He had both of his hands fitted with laser gatlings and his back features dual plasma cannons. His legs have been lined with steel mechanisms so that he can run, jump, and fly at supersonic speeds. His skin is resistant to the atmosphere of space, but he still has to wear a helmet to breathe oxygen. He also has four bionic eyes, which gave him his nickname: "The Sightseer." Archie Pelago, the Cook - Archie Pelago is the cook for the Black Hole 6, and he is a pretty mediocre one at that. He is a very dimwitted man, having managed to blow off both his legs in a freak cooking accident. Many doubt he even knows that he is working for a bunch of pirates, as he's really only in it for the money. "They pay well," he said on one occasion. However, he has proved his worth in battle many times, due to his Heavy Photon Pistol. He is still undoubtably the oddball among a crew of oddballs, that's for certain. Nathaniel "Atlus" Decker, the Shipwright - Nathaniel Decker, more commonly known as "Atlus" due to his immense strength, is the shipwright for the Black Hole 6. Contrary to popular belief, he is not actually a cyborg. He wears his Treasure Suit Mk. IV almost 24/7, as he has grown accustomed to having it on for long periods of time while treasure hunting. Besides repairing their spaceship, Captain Ward also put him in charge of collecting riches that the gang may come across. Atlus uses his left arm's Pulsating Drill to dig through anything in his path, then uses his right arm's claw to grab any treasure chests he may find. Navigator Abraham Beatty, "The Pyro Pirate" - Abraham Beatty is the navigation specialist for the Black Hole 6. Besides being the crew's navigator, he works closely with Ian Fiore to design new inventions and weapons for them to use. He has a strange fixation with fire, which is why he's often called the Pyro Pirate. His weapon of choice of course is his beloved Flame-Spitter, which unleashes a huge ball of fire at an enemy. He also carries his trusty Water Shield for protection, as he knows how carried away he can get when it comes to fire. He is a very energetic and lively member of the crew, often spouting jokes and singing songs around a fire (which he created). Thanks for looking! 8. Brave crew of the 'Silver Chicken'!
  9. Ahoy! Here is my entry for Category A of the Space Pirates Contest: Space Pirates by -Wat-, on Flickr from left to right: Jimmy Rumbelly: Though Jimmy is as thick as two short planks he is a good hearted and loyal man. He is always drunk from cheap bottom shelf liquor. Z-3BO: Though it is said that he is one of the best protocol robots, he was discharged by the Imperial Army. He later was found by Jimmy Rumbelly on a scrapyard, Jimmy repaired him and since this day he is an inherent part of the captain's crew. Captain Thatch: Tha Captain is a brave man who is feared by the Imperials and space merchants and loved by his crew. It is said that he is a descendant of the famous Captain Blackbeard from the old pirate days. Colonel Winters: Colonel Winters is one of the most cruel and selfish men in service of the Imperial Army and he hates pirates more than everything else. Imperial Juggernaut: The Imperial Juggernaut is a series of battle robots used by the Imperial Army. It's weapons are a flamethrower and a mighty drill that can break through nearly any material. Lady Alice Winters: Alice is Colonel Winters daughter, she is said to be one of the most beautiful and also most dangerous women out in the galaxy. At the age of 16 she decided to run away from home, because she didn't want to become a Lady and marry a rich merchant like her father wanted her to do. She wanted to live the life of a Space Pirate with all it's treasures and adventures, she always wears a black mask to hide her identity. Her favorite weapon of choice is a purple lightsaber that matches her wild purple hair. I hope you like them, C&C welcome! Jonas
  10. Phew! Finished this in time because my partner for Cat B didn’t have time to finish it so he gave it to me to finish. Comparison photos between the builds will be in the 2nd post. I also was so glad when it was 275 parts because I forgot that it had to be under 700. And onto the build, review style! SSSS- Octopus Asteroid Outpost No one knows when this set was release, but it seems to be a variation of set PPPP half way down this post. The set doesn't have any play features, but let’s get to it. Set: SSSS Name: Octopus Asteroid Outpost Theme: LEGO System / Pirates / Islanders/Space Year: Unknown Pieces: 275 Minifigs: 3 + Octopus Price: $29.99 About .10 cents per part, not a bad price. There is no box known to exist. Overview of the set: This pic just shows everything that the set includes. Minifigs: I have to say, I love the castaways bubble helmet and the male Asteroider. The female Asteroider is very odd to me but I guess Lego I didn't have a good enough head for her. And the octopus: Just a normal ‘space’ octopus. Nothing special here. Castaways Vehicle: I really like the design for this, it appears to be a crowsnest from a larger spacecraft, and it runs on fuel, so he will probably run out of that fast… Asteroid Ship: Really reminds me of the Asteroider Trading Catamaran that Lego I produced. And also resembles the boat in the 2nd post in a spacey way. The set without anything extra. The Final Tally Design: 9/10 Great design overall, but lacks the playablity of a normal set. Parts: 9/10 Most parts are very usefull, but they are still a bit basic. Minifigs: 8/10 Two Asteroiders, one of which, is great, while the female one’s face is a little weird. The pirate is probably my favorite minifig from this set, I just really like him. And the special space octopus…very enjoyable. Playability: 9/10 Still fun to play with, even with no actual features. It can entertain you longer than you think! Overall: 35/40 Overall, a great set! Definitely worth buying building! More Pictures: =================================================================================================================================== PPPP- Octopus Island Outpost No one knows when this set was release, but it seems to be a variation of set SSSS in the 1st post. The set doesn’t have any play features, but let’s get to it. Set: PPPP Name: Octopus Island Outpost Theme: LEGO System / Pirates / Islanders/ Year: Unkown Pieces: 204 Minifigs: 3 + Octopus Price: $24:99 About .12 cents per part, more than the other one! Still pretty good though... There is no box known to exist. Overview: Overview of the set with everything according to what I would think the box art looks like. Minifigs: I really like these minifigs, just for the classic pirates vibe they give. Though, there appears to be a CMF in it making it appear to be a very recent set… + The ‘special normal’ octopus… Castaway's Vessel: It’s a pretty average castaway crows nest, but still it’s a great part of the set. Islanders Boat: Overview of the boat. It really looks like the Enchanted Island boat, but it still has its differences. The Final Tally Design: 9/10 Great design overall, but lacks the playablity of a normal set. Parts: 9/10 Most parts are very useful, but they are still a bit basic. Minifigs: 8/10 Two Islanders, both of them are great! Really remind me of the old sets. The pirate is your average castaway pirate, nothing too special. + The special normal octopus…! Playability: 9/10 Still fun to play with, even with no actual features. It can entertain you longer than you think! Overall: 44/50 Overall, a great set! Definitely worth buying building! Comparison Pictures: Islander statue has 'ears' because the helmet has ears, but on the Asteroid helmet, the helmet doesn't have ears, and that's why the statue doesn't have 'ears' either. More Pics: I will add one more pic of both builds together tomorrow! C & C welcome! ~Beltar
  11. Star Captain Star Captain likes to think of himself as the group's leader, but for the past few years he's become a recluse, sitting out missions in his hoverchair while the rest of the crew goes on adventures without him. He's thinking about retiring from the pirate life and becoming a construction worker, or maybe a raptor trainer. Lady Gamma Lady Gamma is the crew's chief weapons designer and war correspondent. Her habit of building guns that promptly blow up in their users' faces has labelled her as the 'Deadliest Woman in the Galaxy'. Roger the Cabin Boy Roger the Raccoon-Boy was found digging around in the galley's garbage chute. Instead of throwing him out or putting him in the dinner pot, the crew decided to adopt him as their cabin boy. While there's no doubt that he can cook a mean stew, the others wish that he would start wearing pants. GORT GORT used to be king of an entire race of tree-squids, but turned pirate once they realized he was selling them out to a paper company and ran him off the planet. The crew now uses him to store all the treasure they steal acquire. The only words he ever says are 'garble garble'; the others think he's just being weird, but the truth it that he can't speak because his mouth is full of treasure. Destructor He used to be called Steve the Sunny Space Skull, but after his planet was destroyed by the Dread Pirate Ronan, a venomous rage was unleashed inside him and he became known as Destructor. Wielding twin daggers, Destructor will obliterate everything and everyone in his path. He's a lot of fun at parties. Saurokan The Dread Pirate Ronan was infamous for extracting the life essence from innocent seamen and placing them inside robotic bodies, effectively building an army of slaves. The only remnant of their former lives as honest sailors is their penchant for wearing colorful bandannas.

The story behind them is that they are the ancestors of the Seablite gang,(from the book dark life) which is where they get the name the "Spaceblite gang." The are just like most pirates and wreak havock all over the galaxy still trying to get revenge for there ancestors getting locked in prinson (they themsleves have been captured and escaped over 50 times). The Wanted Poster The whole crew. Spidersha a hired assasin who will do anything for the right money and bones the Captain of the operation known for getting the job done. Here we have doc the tech expert and two of his robots. One a flying battle drone and the other a spy drone much like the Star Wars mouse droids. Also with him is the weapons expert who prefers to remain anonymous. Here we have the captains daughter wearing a chest piece from an elven queen. Along with their cydog who has laser eyes and can hide almost anywhere. Just a comedic interlude!! Let me know what you think and if you have any tips thanks!

[SPC] Cat A - STAR Force

STAR (Space Traveling Allied Rebels) Force is a band of escaped space prisoners under the leadership of Admiral LaFlamme, who was suspended as a commander of Galaxy Squad when his wife and daughter were killed and he was framed for their murder. The Admiral brought four capable individuals along with him in the escape, each with their own personality and tactical abiltities. *Work In Progress* Admiral LaFlamme Dr. Yeti Samantha Lee Allen the Welder Commander Grayson Dirk LaFlamme

  18. So I recently started with the minifigure collection... Have got 13 of 16 including Unicorn and Hot Dog guy. FIgured I might as well get my money's worth so I started putting in the codes into the website and every single time it tells me 'You've Won' but of course that isn't the real contest. I do a couple more clicks and enter the contest to win sets and submit my email and done. Well the other day I put in like 15 codes before I thought to look at the contest rules. The rules say 1 entry per day per person... But the form doesn't stop me from entering as many codes as I have. Well once I read that I stopped and am now doing 1 a day- but does anyone know if that rule is enforced? Are those multiple entries just going to be tossed out? I wasted like 20 minutes entering them. Has anyone ever won a set from this contest?
  19. Technic SBrick Contest SBricks are shipping over the world as we speak. Say what?! You didn't join the Kickstarter project?! No worries! Here's your chance to win one or more SBricks For the few of you who don't know what an SBrick is, visit https://www.sbrick.com for more information. DESCRIPTION Build a Technic model with 4 Power Functions motors. The model should be prepared to replace the IR receivers with a single SBrick (or two if you like to maintain aesthetics). The models needs to have 4 powered motors, providing 4 functions. When using a gearbox, your model can have more than 4 functions (6 for example, like the 8043 Excavator). The model needs 2 PF IR Receivers which can be replaced by one or two SBricks. Using PF Lights is permitted. However, they don't count as functions. Functions are operated by a motor. DEADLINE Due to Holidays and possible issues with getting new parts from TLG this time of year I have given you two more weeks than usual. Deadline date is February 15th, 2015. Contest will be closed on Monday the 16th, so you will have the entire Sunday to build. CONTEST SPECIFIC RULES AND REGULATIONS You need to utilize 4 output ports of the IR Receivers/SBrick (not counting LEDs) This means you need to use 4 motors Exception 1: you can multiplex multiple motors on a single output (for driving for example, when you need more torque) Exception 2: a constantly running compressor Pneumatics are allowed, but only when controlled via motors (no manual switching levers, it is an SBrick contest, not a pneumatic contest) LEDs are allowed, but don't count as a function Other manual functions like opening doors are allowed Gearboxes are allowed, as long as the previous rules are met 3rd party strings and/or hoses are permitted If you already own an SBrick, you can use it (as long as you can demonstrate the functions) GENERAL RULES AND RESTRICTIONS The contest is open to all EB members (also new members). Members who joined EB after the start of the contest can be banned from voting (when vote rigging is suspected). Voting rules will be explained later in the voting topic. One entry per member. Entries need to be new (never posted anywhere previously). Only physical builds, so no LDD or other virtual entry. If you have any doubts about the suitability of your entry contact me. All entries are to include only real LEGO. No clone brands, 3rd party parts, or digital entries allowed. No cutting, sculpting or modifying parts. Entries are to be placed in the entry topic in this forum. Entries not in the entry topic are not eligible for voting. The entry post may be edited at any time up to the end of the contest, so feel free to make improvements if you wish. We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not follow these rules. These rules can be changed whenever we see fit to ensure that people follow the intent of the contest. Staff members are not eligible for winning prizes. WHAT DO I NEED TO ENTER? All participant need to create a discussion topic and create a post in the entry topic. DISCUSSION TOPIC A discussion topic starting with [TC6]. ENTRY POST The entry post in the entry topic should contain: Entry name Short summary of the functions. 21. Hello! Let’s start with a little introduction. About one and a half years ago, - thank to my growing daughter, who started to play with Lego – my dark age ended. Bought the 9395. I was amazed. New parts, interesting building technics... at least for me. The journey begun... I’m rather ’reader’ type, so not posting too much, but reading the forum almost every day. Working on a project, since last autumn, and when this contest came, I decided to build something (something different) Simply I could not choose, what to build. Another super car/excavator/ truck/tank/crane? No. There will be a lot of them. This train of thought led to the idea, that I should build something, what not going anywhere. Still not easy, but fortunately it came into my mind. Let it be a whirligig. Decided. So, my contest entry is a technic whirligig. Functions: 1. Rotating superstructure. (L motor, speed control with train remote a) 2. Main arm rising/lowering (XL motor - standart remote a) 3. Secondary arm moving ( L motor, - standart remote b) 4. Basket rotating (M motor - speed control with train remote b) It's still in progress. I received the last parts today. Hope that willl be ready till the deadline. Pictures at the weekend.
  22. Howdy folks :) With the help of my children, I got back to Lego about a year ago, started to buy massively and then found my true purpose in life, Technic! ROLUG was a great help to me and I began to build various cars for local TT contests, then I found Eurobricks and I participated in the Bionicle contest, as well. Now, I consider myself a newbie in Technic and I mostly adapt existing models to my liking, but since recently I started to build my own MOCs from scratch. What I want to show you guys is my latest creation, an arctic exploration vehicle based on the famous Thunderbirds show, namely The Mole, in my own interpretation. This is my 2nd attempt at this, my first was ok for showing-off but could not actually move well on snow (lol), so now I am rebuilding it, with performance in mind. I am basically building a high-profile tank with a huge drill in the front and another cool function which I prefer to keep secret, until it's working as I want. My personal goal is to drive it head on into a snow bank and to pass through it like butter! (we can all dream, no?) See the photos below and let me know what you think. Any suggestion or comment is welcomed, thank you all for watching. If you are curious to see more photos and also what I have built so far, feel free to head over to my Flickr page. Enjoy :) https://www.flickr.c...th/16439896211/

  24. Hi All, younger and elder, hi AFOLs J This would be my creation to the TC6 contest. I am a dedicated fan of LEGO creations. Just came back to the topic around 3-4 years ago after a long-long dark age and of course as many of ours this happened because of the 8043. See and fall in love was only a second, gave no chance for my girlfriend even to blink and the box was opened on my desk, the “new” style of bags – well that was new for me, last time when I saw a bag came out a LEGO box was with those little holes on it and with a bit different feelings when you touch it J - and there were so many small pieces … I think everybody here know what I felt. After those 3-4 unbelievable years there was some significant changes in my life (actually in my and my love – this time she is a person) and I have to had a “2nd dark age” to approach to the current level. This means just a couple of months but was hard without any LEGO, and the worst was when I had to sold my whole collection, including mostly Technic sets … but it was on the last summer, it’s gone now and I already can say: “I am back to game fellows!” J … Maybe I went so far away the original topic but I thought would be great introduce myself a bit since this is my first time on the EuroBricks even I was registered more than a year ago. Hope you will like my MOC, enjoy this short (or maybe long) article about and please feel free to comment, share your opinion, ideas with me and the others. So, let’s turn to the relevant page: My creation is a “compact crane”. Yeah, I know! A crane again … I am a bit addicted of cranes. Small and huge, mobile or tower ? Doesn't matter for me just simple impressive and unbelievable structures … but this time I would like to share with you a bit different type of crane: Spider/Mini/Compact Crane pick which you prefer or like. J This MOC mostly based on the UNIC URW-706 Spider Crane and it was built in 1:10 scale approximately. The experience I have had last October when I made some lifting plan and had to find and choose the right machinery for a task inside of a shopping mall in a single minute wake up a desire inside of me: “oh God, I have to find a way to build a MOC like this!” … and when this contest shown up … What a coincidence!? Let see, there is 2 type of tracks. Preferred to use the 5 studs wide for this. This means for the scaling the 400 mm wide track is equal with the 5 studs. At first I have made some LDD prototype. Tried how to fit and get the right shape and keep the planned scale. Was a great help using Sariel’s scaling app at his webpage, made quicker and easier the planning method and I didn't have to calculate every single dimension. To fit the contest’s rules I have developed many way of the control. The final result is below. There is actually 5 pieces of motors (hopefully based on the descriptionn I did not break any of the rules) 1 XL Motor This is a continuously running motor, connected to the fake engine and a tricky mechanism you maybe recognised earlier in some other creation: just simple with one axis you can give 2 direction rotation for another (in this case another 2) axis if you insert a shift gear mechanism on it 2 Servo Motor Those motors responsible for actually to turn “on-off” a chosen function and depends on their gives the right direction rotation. Operate with one (1st) IR Receiver (or use 2 slot on one SBrick) 2 Medium Motor This 2 connected to another 2 shift gear junction and can change the direction of the rotated axis independently, should bear in mind that if one of these turned into the shift gear the other must be at “Neutral” position. Operate with one (2nd) IR Receiver (or use the rest 2 slot on the same SBrick as the Servo Motors) Let see what we got with this combination. Well as the rules mentioned this is an alternate option to use a continuously running motor with the direct turn “on/off” connection battery box/rechargeable battery. Basically this XL motor gives the drive all of the RC functions. This engine rotate the axis connected 2 of the shifting mechanism. This 2 operated independently with those 2 servo motor and depends on the position we have got a clockwise/anti-clockwise direction rotating drive on No1 and/or No2 driving axis. This 2 driving axis going through on 2 independent double shifting gear junction, each operated with the M motors independently. And as a result we would have 8 different functions and 2 of these can operate in the same time. Right now I did develop only 7 from it but you will see – hopefully – we won’t need more in this case. So, the functions are below in pair: 1st M Motor, Function 1: Drive & Steer (due it is a tracked creation depends on which track operate which direction we can drive straight, turn left, right and reverse too) 1st M Motor, Function 2: Outriggers operate (when you see, this type of crane has a “turning out” arm and after it is at the right angle-position can pull it down to stabilize itself) 2nd M Motor, Function 1: Operate the crane 1 (in that case able to turn the bogie even on the 360 degree and lower/rise the boom). 2nd M Motor, Function 2: Operate the crane 2 (in that case able to lower/rise the boom and operate the winch with our without* to extend/abridge the boom). That is why a great goal from the LTD Team design and product was those red/new type of 16 tooth Gear with the double impact design. With this gear I was able to make the 2 double shift behind each other, no needed to sacrifice one of the shift gears for nothing, or actually a duplicated gear with. As you can see the functions by the 2nd M Motor is just 3 from the possible 4, but based on my best knowledge I cannot make more than 2 axis driven through the bogie and even if I needed more than 2 functions at the superstructure I didn't want to have a different motor at there, because of the limitation and I wanted to purchase a 360 degree turning without any wire in the middle. But I have made a manual switcher at the superstructure and in this way there is Option A the winch operate only itself, Option B the winch operate with the boom extension I preferred to choose the winch as a primer function while parallel with the boom extension will need to make the string longer/shorter any way … hopefully it does make sense. The outriggers extension can provide by manually, but in this scenario I couldn't solve an RC function on it. ... hopefully I will find the way soon how to attach pictures about the creation, till then here are two direct link to my onedrive cloud folder with the LDD screenshots and a few picture about the real creation current stage to be continuous soon :)
