    [M - B06] MANTIS HQ

Location: B06-Sorn Tags: Civil, Building, Vehicle, Exploration Job: Explorer This week, I was sent to a MANTIS HQ on Sorn, to explore under the surface. It was teeming with wildlife and plants, some of which I took samples of. There was a boat load of supplies being unloaded too: Lots more pictures here: Link I really like how this build turned out, especially the underwater section. C&C welcome
  2. Builded as a joint venture between the civilian and the military branches of Kawashita Corporation, this green house were built on Vollfort as a Botany Laboratory; the planet was an arid desert, with little fauna and flora, perfect to place a Botany Lab with very little interference from the outside environment. Engineer Alexander Vandangant was tasked to build the compound and, in a matter of days and hard works, he builded one of the most advanced greenhouses of the galaxy with all the needed to conduct any type of reaserach around the fauna world, like adavanced laboratory and cold storages. Now the head scientist, is giving him a tour of the compound in fully operative, with people working and studying the flora. = = = = = = = = = Here we are! I finally finished this build; it took me a while, first it started as a zero-G greenhouse to be used on space stations, but then, finding some technical and style issues, I changed completely idea going for a planet-type building. I really like the outcome and I hope you Enjoy it!

    [M - D03] Experiment B9D03

Location: D03 Tags: Science, Civil. Tough week, friend? Tough month more like. I’ve been taken prisoner, tortured, given an impossible assignment, and nearly frozen to death. I’m gonna need a beer. Coming right up. Good. My research hasn’t exactly been going well recently either. Here’s your beer. You’re a scientist then? I had you figured for a pilot with that jumpsuit you’re wearing. Yeah, I used to be a pilot, once upon a time. It’s a long story… That was a long story. Here, have this one on the house. It’s this week’s experimental cocktail. Experimental? Yeah, each week I invent a new cocktail and- But you call them ‘experimental’? And people drink them? Yes, but- I’ll be right back! And just a little bit of these… I’m still not sure about this, it seems a bit- Trust me, I’m a scientist! Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Date: 25 Julali 3815. Experiment Code: B9D03. Lead Scientist: Big Sal. Location: MANTIS Supply Ship, Bar 9: ‘The Red Spider’. Terrial Major orbit. Aim: Test the effects of alcohol as an enhancement delivery medium. Excerpt ends. Here you are friends, experimental cocktails on the house. Enjoy… Now, I just want to emphasise that this cocktail is experimental and by drinking it you agree to waive all rights in the case of sickness, injury or death. Drink up! Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Method: Awesomnium enhanced larvae and awesomnium serum will be mixed with alcohol and consumed by willing volunteers. Prediction: Volunteers will gain enhanced physical abilities. Excerpt ends. And now we wait… Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Results: Volunteers became extremely aggressive on drinking the cocktail and showed reduced cognitive abilities along with changes in eye colouration. Conclusions: This line of research may be worth pursuing in more controlled conditions. Excerpt ends. Thanks for reading! C&C welcome!

    [M - D03] Expedition D8D03

Location: D03 Tags: Civil, Science Are you sure you don’t want a helmet Sal? I’m sure I do want a helmet Williams - it’s freezing! But this glorious beard simply won’t fit in one. Uh…right. Anyway, I thought you were supposed to be curing hay fever on Aeristus? What? Oh, yeah… I, uh, ‘delegated’ that… So I take it the ice core drilling isn’t going well? Ugh, no. It’s so damn cold that three of the generators have given up completely. We’re down to the last one. But it only takes one to power the drill and I need that ice core yesterday, so get drilling! Sal, if that last generator dies we won’t even have enough power to radio for help. We can’t risk it. Damn it Williams, science is all about risk! Fire it up! Haha, see! It’s working! The generator can’t take much more of this! We need to shut it down! NO! Keep drilling, we’re almost there! Almost… almost! Whoops… Thanks for reading! The snow effect is the first time I've tried anything like this - let me know what you think of it! The spoiler contains all the photos without the snow effect, in case you hate it. Any other comments and criticism welcome, as always Oh, and the drill really works!

    [M - C04] Experiment L2C04

Unfortunately I didn't have any time to build last week, so this week's build is a special double length episode. Hope it's not too much! Location: C04 Tags: Civil, Science, Building. Interrogation Room 1, M.A.N.T.I.S. Supply Ship, Sorn orbit, 6 Julali 3815. …and then I swam all the way back to M.A.N.T.I.S. territory! Very impressive! Chief Accountant Long! Come to hear about my heroic escape from Kawashita captivity? I’m afraid I just finished my debriefing… I’ll read the report of your little vacation later Sal. I’m here to give you your next assignment. Vacation?! I was brutally tortured! M.A.N.T.I.S. Employee Handbook Chapter 3 Section 12 Subsection 14 Line 6 clearly states that time spent in enemy captivity comes out of your holiday entitlement. WHAT?? It encourages a speedy escape. Anyway, enough chitchat. I’ve noticed that we’re currently spending over 0.0000001% of the budget on daily anti-histamines for employee hay fever. This is an unacceptable inefficiency and I want it fixed by next week. You want me to cure hay fever? In a week?? Yes. Though by the time you get to Aeristus you’ll have five days. Your ship is waiting. But… Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Experiment Code: L2C04. Laboratory: Laboratory Outpost 2, Aeristus. Lead Scientist: Big Sal. Aim: Find a permanent cure for hay fever. Date: 8 Julali 3815. Subject number: 001. Subject hay fever symptoms: Excessive sweating. Attempted treatment: Laser nose surgery. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH! Just hold still and stop being such a baby! Treatment outcome: Failure. --- Date: 9 Julali 3815. Subject number: 002. Subject hay fever symptoms: Rapid drowsiness. Attempted treatment: Ingestion of awesomnium enhanced larvae. Wow, all these larvae for me? And it’s not even Friday! Treatment outcome: Failure. --- Date: 10 Julali 3815. Subject number: 003. Subject hay fever symptoms: Swelling of eyes and face. Attempted treatment: Direct awesomnium serum injection. This will really cure my hay fever? You’ve tested it before? Oh sure, we’ve had spectacular results with it in the past… Treatment outcome: Failure. --- Date: 11 Julali 3815. Subject number: 004. Subject hay fever symptoms: Bloodshot eyes. Attempted treatment: Massive exposure to alien flora. I really don't see how this will work… Chief Accountant Long will be here tomorrow expecting a cure! You got any better ideas? Treatment outcome: Failure. --- Date: 12 Julali 3815. Subject number: 005. Subject hay fever symptoms: Extreme paleness. Attempted treatment: Psychosomatic therapy via the Persuadomatic. You do not suffer from hay fever. You have never suffered from hay fever. You especially don’t suffer from hay fever today. I completely agree! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! What’s happening to me! I don’t suffer from hay fever! I've never suffered from hay fever! I especially don't suffer from hay fever today! Shhhhh! That’s Long’s ship landing! I’ll have to go up and meet her… but maybe if I leave the Persuadomatic on I can convince her I’ve found a cure… Treatment outcome: Failure. Excerpt ends. Chief Accountant Long! How lovely to see you! Right this way! Is that the Persuadomatic? Why yes it is! A wonderful invention of mine, wouldn’t you agree? Yes, it’s actually very impressive... Praise! I think it’s working! ...of course, as soon as I heard that it actually worked I took the antidote. Damn it! Now, I believe you were going to demonstrate the hay fever cure? Um… yes. The subjects are outside in the grass and you’ll see that they’re completely cured. Voila! They’re all wearing helmets. Helmets are even more expensive than anti histamines Sal, this better not be your idea of a cure. Hahaha… uh, no, of course not! It’s just, uh, the berries from that tree are quite heavy and if they fall, well… as you know, employee health and safety is my number one priority! Yes. Helmets off please. You see? Cured! Hmmm, good work Sal. Achoo! Damn it! Goodbye Sal. You’re to stay here on Aeristus until you’ve found a cure. But… Phew! Comments and criticism welcome! A couple more pics in the spoiler.

    [K - C04] The Woodcutter

In this weeks efforts of the Kawashita Corporation to dominate the Andromeda's Gates galaxy, I made planetfall on Aeristus, located on grid C04. For the build on this foresty planet, I wanted to build a woodcutter vehicle in the style of industrial vehicles you see in the Thunderbirds, big lumbering machines for mass industrial work. *** Start Log *** Julali 10th, AD 3825 Thesseus B. Von Geekington reporting Marching orders came in today, and we are headed out to the forested planet of Aeristus. Located on the western coreside arm of the Andromeda's Gates galaxy, it`s a planet dominated by big forests and grassy planes. Our job there is to put down some of those ancient trees and extract water from the soil, and for that we decided to make use of what we call the `Woodcutter`. This old ice slicer is suitable for the environment with it`s big stabilising wheels, and the saws should have an easier time cutting down trees then they have at times when we hit eternal glaciers. The front and back saws are honed to perfection and should be giving no problem at all. I will be in constant contact with The Pale Lady as works progresses. *** End Log ***

    [O - F02] - Subtlety

Location: F02 Lesser Drigo Tags: Science, Octan, Civil, Vehicle, Ground Vehicle // PERSONAL DIARY // After last week's vehicle debacle I contacted one of our best engineers to help me procure a more suitable choice. Big Z is one of the finest engineers anywhere and he was very happy to help me out. I was going to be observing wildlife on Lesser Drigo and wanted something that would allow me to do so without scaring it off. I gave Big Z the general idea of what I'd be doing and where and he said no problem. When we arrived in the hangar bay to load all of my science equipment and supplies I was ... surprised. "Subtle" was all ED-208 said. "This will certainly help us get around easily!" I cheerfully suggested. ED-208 stopped his inspection of our ride to suggest it would be for the best if he drove this time. I happily noted that it would be the most logical solution since I would need to focus on observing. I wasn't sure what to name our new ride, ED-208 suggested the OCS Overcompensating, but I told him that made no sense since it was a land vehicle and not a ship. I thought I heard him mumble "And I'm the robot?" but that wouldn't make sense since he IS a robot. I finally suggested we call it the Long Range Explorer, I doubt anyone will realize why I named it that! Dr. Long had been rather disappointed in my efforts last week to collect samples for the geology folks. I guess picking up random rocks isn't what they had hoped for. So this week I was going to be bringing along a drill to collect some core samples. She said that we needed to establish how the planet had formed to better grasp where the water pockets were. I feel like she was in an unusually bad mood, so I wanted to be extra diligent this week to make her happy. For my own scientific pursuits I had 2 biocontainment units with lichen. One would be used as the control while the other would be exposed to Lesser Drigo's atmosphere and insect life to observe the interaction. It would be very exciting if I could present my findings to Dr. Long and hopefully earn back some of the trust she had placed in me after my failings last week. Maybe I could find a new scorpion species, I know she is very interested in them! I was glad that Dr. Long still cared enough about me to allow ED-208 to continue to stay with me. He, well I guess being a robot there is no gender but since it had a male voice I thought of it as "him", made things less lonely. Plus I felt better having someone around to keep an eye out and protect me. At times I become lost in thought and can fail to see danger. For instance last week before heading to Lesser Drigo I'd been on Jurin II and nearly walked off the edge of a landing platform, but one of the engineers yelled at me at the last second. Fortunately Dr. Long wasn't there at the time and she even let me fetch John Hannibal's ship which was quite an honor! I think it was her subtle way of getting me noticed by another Exec since she knows how capable I am. I sure hope my hectic schedule slows down a bit soon so I can get back to my drone work. ED-208 would likely be a great assistant with that too. With my pal ED-208 by my side, we can do some really great stuff for Octan. And we can make Dr. Long really proud of us. [O - F02] - Driver's ED

Location: F02 Lesser Drigo Tags: Science, Octan, Civil, Vehicle, Ground Vehicle // PERSONAL DIARY // I filed my report about the data I had collected and requested to return to the Axle to personally debrief with Dr. Long. But she said that I was needed on neighboring Lesser Drigo. She felt like we needed a scientific presence after most of the first hand reports of Jurin II from Octan Corp personnel amounted to how warm the water was and how smooth the sand was. I, of course, was honored to be selected. I requested a GMB-02 mobile lab, but she said there were none available. I then suggested a GMM-04 mech suit, but again there were none. She assured me that a suitable vehicle would be located for my use. I knew with the importance of my mission she'd find the proper conveyance. It was a surprise to find myself driving an Octan off-road race truck. At first I thought there was some mistake, but the supplymaster who gave it to me assured me it wasn't. I then realized what was happening: Dr. Long was crafty... she was testing me! Wanted to try and throw me a curveball to see how I would handle it. Clearly she wanted to make sure I was able to be trusted and that I wouldn't fall apart at a slight hiccup. Brilliant. Admittedly the truck had a lot of power, but being the skilled driver I am, it didn't bother me at all. It did worry me that Mantis had been spotted with a fair bit of recent activity on Lesser Drigo. Dr. Long said that it would be a perfect chance for the new Executive Defender Series 208 robot (commonly called ED-208) to be field tested. The ED-208 is highly reliable and can easily identify threats. According to the message from Dr. Long. I actually thought at first she was sending me a protection rabbit because her message was a bit garbled, which seemed ridiculous. I mean, what would a rabbit even be able to do... I found it somewhat difficult to find any fauna, this might have been due to the fact that my vehicle made a loud BBRRRRRRRAAAAAAAPPPP noise from its exhaust that could be heard for a mile. Not that I would have been able to do much with them anyway since there was virtually no room in the race truck. I was able to find some plants though. And I did have my camera with me. I asked ED-208 if he felt like what we were doing was science and he said "I'd buy that for 3 credits!" I think that meant yes. I also grabbed a few rocks for our geologists on the Axle to look at. I looked for any cool rocks that I could give to Dr. Long for her desk, but all I could find was ugly brown ones. ED-208 asked me why I was looking for "pretty rocks for the stern woman", clearly the AI still has a ways to go! Extra truck photos:

    [O-F02] Vacation Canceled!

Location: F02 - Lesser Drigo Tags: Land Vehicle, Engineering, Civil, Octan And there Henry stood again. The transport vehicle had just left and he was alone with a pile of gear on some strange alien planet! Originally he had planned to take a break and spend two weeks surfing on New California. The waves were said to be superior there! And his request had even been granted by Dr.Long. Surprisingly, he was here now with his vacation being canceled the last possible minute. Henry wasn't quite sure what had gotten him here, but he had the suspicion that it had something to do with this "little incident" last night: Before leaving the O.S.C. AXLE, H3 had ventured to the ship's bar to have a few beers with some of his engineering buddies. But on the way back to his sleeping compartment, the AXLE had had a little problem with it's gravitational system (at least that's what he remembered) and 0-g was something he couldn't handle at all, had never been able to handle to begin with! And so things had ended up like they usually end up in situations like this ... Well, he had made sure nobody found out about this "little incident" and mopped the ship as quick as possible, leaving it cleaner than before. So what could have happened? Why was he here now, on a planet whose name he had never heard before and with a task that seemed virtually impossible: building a water pumping station on a desert and lava planet? Henry looked around, okay there was water, at least he could see some steam rising from below the sand where the water most likely got into contact with the lava. But his pile of equipment was just that, a pile of equipment he would have to sort through, a task that would take him hours, if not days. And, there were those really nasty space scopions he had heard of before, hopefully they wouldn't be able to cross the lava creek that seperated him from these beasts. "Ah, shitty situation, better call hq to make sure someone with a big gun gets down here" H3 mumbled "damn, where was the radio? On no, WHY ALWAYS ME ... ?" What H3 failed to understand was that his "little incidident" had of course not gone unoticed. There was nothing happening aboard the AXLE that did not get noticed somehow, somewhere by SOMEONE. NOTHING!

    [O-E02] Chemical Rain

Planet: E02 Tags: Land vehicle, Science, Exploration, Civil //"Log date 357, this is Dr. Danielle Long, reporting from the surface of E02. I am accompanying one of my Drones as it collects samples, and making observations on the natural growth habits of the local xeno-flora. Air is breathable, Temperature is a pleasant 20 degrees Celsius at night at my current location, and the stars are readily visible. In-fact, I believe I can see the O.C.S. Axle from where I am.... This planet will make a fine resort-world for Octan's retirees. Naturally, specimens must be taken to scan for harmful bio-organisms and viruses, the analysis of which will take place in the pristine labs aboard the O.C.S. Axle. Dr. Long signing off."// Science by the light of the stars //"This is Dr. Long, aboard personal shuttle O.C.S. Cog 1, entering Space Dock 1 of O.C.S. Axle. Prepare decontamination shower for myself and my pilot. Aboard craft are 6 Sc106 Drones filled with xenobiological specimens. Follow typical extraction protocol for low-threat xenobiological contaminants. primary containment and threat assessment in high-risk section of Axle, followed by distribution to low-threat labs as deemed appropriate. Arrival time in approximately 10 minutes. Make that chemical shower warm, and prepare my usual soap cocktail. Dr. Long signing off."// Decontamination Note: This piece was meant to convey a sense of loneliness and cold removedness, and the red chemical shower itself is meant to be rather off-putting. All-in-all I wanted to evoke Fan-Disservice, and not the more ubiquitous opposite of that trope. The build was actually quite a bit more difficult than the pictures may imply, but it was built specifically for this one shot, so the technique I used to create the octagon that comprises the shower goes completely unnoticed. hope you enjoy! But not too much. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  11. Location: A06 - Guinevere Tags: Vehicle, Civil Ender and his sister Valentine landed on Guinevere, a desolate planet that wouldn't be worth visiting if it weren't for the huge veins of gold running through its crust. Valentine was a Kawashita scientist so when she told Ender they needed to dig directly under a live lava flow to find the purest vein of gold, he didn't doubt her for a second. He did doubt, however, whether the roof would melt through before they were able to get out of there though. OoC: As this is my first AG build, comments are even more welcome than usual!

Excerpt ends. ...and how are my improvements to the water hydrolyser turning out? Very well sir! The last batch of water was over 160% hydrolysed! Excellent! How are the enhanced larvae doing Hamilton? They're growing well Sal - we're on target for 100% coverage in the cafeterias this week. Fantastic! It's such a relief to be doing real science again after all those plants... Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Aim: Improve physical abilities of M.A.N.T.I.S. personnel through enhanced foodstuffs. Method: Awesomnium serum was introduced to larvae growth media. Prediction: Personnel eating the enhanced larvae will show enhanced physiology. Excerpt ends. SAL! Chief Accountant Long! I didn't know you were... I mean, what a pleasure to see you! You're looking as beautiful as ever! Spare me the sarcasm Sal. I'm here to shut this little experiment of yours down. What? But it's only been running a week! I need more time! Absolutely not. Shut it down. We've been getting reports of stomach problems and nausea from across the organisation all week. That could be coincidence! We've only had one larvae Friday so far, it'll take more time for the results to manifest. The costs are minimal! Sal, in the last week our toilet paper bill went up by 600%! And yet none of the troops have developed the superhuman powers you promised. Not to mention the effect on morale if the troops work out it's the grubs making them sick. Larvae Friday is the highlight of the week for them! This experiment is over. Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Results: None. Experiment terminated early. Conclusions: None possible. Excerpt ends. Thanks to my team mates for taking the time to work this story into their builds all week! Comments and criticism welcome

    [K - A06] New Worlds Await

---------- Log 3 - New Worlds Await Clash! The roguish Mantis Corp has started skirmishes on Guinevere. As peace between corporations is debated, Marcus is summoned to a remote facility on Guinevere to discuss the fate of his now uncertain journey… ---------- The class-2 mission on Lesser Direstan was a success. While Ash was a pain in the neck at times, he carefully followed (most of) my orders. With advanced equipment, we ended up mining 50K of Awesomnium in half a day, which is pretty good if you ask me. Or so I thought… Not so long after my return on the vessel orbiting Lesser Direstan, I was summoned by Mr. Nagashi of Leadership, who was the one to assign me the class-2 trial in the first place. This time he requested my presence on Guinevere. Heck, can ya believe that! Another interstellar travel, as if 2 times a month wasn’t enough! Though I was getting tired of long distance travels, I remained curious about one thing: he wanted to meet me far from the active territories, in the Garden Gold facility, a Leadership meeting center, exclusive to its members. Not a place for a pilot, let’s say. Weird things after another these days… I arrived in a private KG hovercraft to the Garden Gold domain, a red dot in a sea of sand, rocks and volcanoes. Elite troops were awaiting on the landing platform to guide me through the clean, vast corridors of the palace. They left me before two gates with golden ornaments, which led to a wide, open room with carved walls and a complex window. There, Mr. Nagashi was standing still, awaiting with a stranger sitting on the floor next to him, who honestly looked like a dead samurai. Dang. Mr. Nagashi didn't wait to tell me the reason of this meeting. (..) Mr. Nagashi : Welcome, Marcus, nice to see you again. Marcus: The pleasure's the same, Nagashi-sama. That's a beautiful place we got there... I'm glad you've granted me the access...But what do you request of me? Mr. Nagashi: Marcus, Leadership knows you have a lot of potential. We saw something very promising in you that others don't have. Unfortunately, your talent was put... on a time out... when you arrived in the system. Be sure we are aware of this. In this line of thought, I hope your legs are not bothering you anymore... However, we assigned you a class-2 mission as soon as you were out, anticipating your success, knowing you would prove yourself to Kawashita-sama as you have in the past. We had high hopes and were ready to promote you to class-3 when protocol would allow it, but the results we received were unexpected. Leadership wanted you exiled from the order, but I convinced them. I told them you were not used to your legs, that your senses were blinded by the beauty of Andromeda. That you would soon rise from that deep sleep and become the man you are destined to be. Thus, they gave your destiny to my personal care. There is a world out there, Marcus. Beyond that window, it awaits to be discovered. Mysteries and treasures beyond belief. That is what drives us to be excellent. To reach the unknown, to understand it, make it our own. Tell yourself: "what do I want the most?". Going back on Terra, feed the war and hope for a better tomorrow? Or explore... this, he told me as he opened his arms in the infinite. Marcus: I wish to stay and prove myself, Nagashi-sama. Mr. Nagashi: We can give you that chance, one last time. Mr Nagashi: The other corporations have been very active lately… It’s only a matter of time before our interests really… clash. Octan is still far, but we’re watching their every moves as we speak. As for Mantis, they are on this very planet, stealing our very gold. They’re barbarians, without tact, without honor. They don’t see further than the end of their noses, but these brutes got here before us. Do you see my point, Marcus? They are an imminent thread. Marcus: Aren’t we signing a deal with the Mantis Corp? Mr. Nagashi: Narbilu-Sama and the executives are saving us time. Soon enough, we’ll be fighting for a piece of gold and a pen and paper won’t be enough. Though, it gives us an opportunity… An opening in the shadow. That’s where you come in, that’s where you get your second chance. Marcus: And that guy’s got the word? Right? Nova: … Mr. Nagashi: Nova, a special force who has proved worthy more than once. He never failed. He never missed. You and him will work together as a team for this new mission. He is the key to your absolution. Understood? Marcus: Yes, Nagashi-sama. Mr.Nagashi: Then, we shall begin. There is much to settle on Guinevere… Honor. Glory. Kawashita. ---------- KG Art Database (Delta-2 Access): Full view of the structure: That was a fun build! I tried to put details here and there... The wall sculptures are inspired by Chris Mcveigh's Brick sketches. Those are fantastic!

Location: F10 - Arium Major Tags: Science, Octan, Civil // PERSONAL DIARY // I'd made my way down to the planet's surface. Not wanting to disappoint Dr. Long I decided that the best way to ensure success was to take some time and try the drone out with me nearby. I figured that if I kept to the shallower water I'd be ok. This would allow me to quickly make any changes that would be necessary to provide for the full utilization of our drone. I'd been diving before but never with this kind of equipment. It was nice having someone else foot the bill for all the things I needed. As the drone performed basic maneuvers and initial analysis I was happy to see it functioning exactly as it should. Dr. Long would be most pleased! She was very attention to detail oriented and though often stern, you could see she cared. It was nice working for someone with such passion! Sometimes people make mistakes and need to be punished to get them back in line. I know that if I screw up I would expect punishment; and it would be well deserved! We need strong women who aren't afraid to put people in line. Good thing there is no corporal punishment or I'd really be in trouble. There isn't corporal punishment anymore is there? Gotta read the employee handbook on that. The test analysis was streaming back useful data already! The modifications would be pretty easy for me to replicate. If I grabbed maybe another dozen A12 units I could vastly speed up the scanning. Then Dr. Long would really be pleased with me. She might even ask me to work with her directly! Annoyingly in all my shots it seems the blue translucent bricks on either side of my minifig aren't visible. I assure you they aren't just big gaps. Also there is 1 small detail that if anyone notices will make me super happy. Extra Shots:

Dr. Long: "You leave immediately. We need to analyze water samples and I need you to grab an A12 drone and modify it for our needs. Sub-surface stuff, nothing too deep. 50 meters max. We aren't doing surface mapping so don't go nuts." Me: "Ok, right away." Dr. Long: "The drones are in Bay 04, so ... bye." I grabbed a drone and loaded it into a shuttle. The pilot said the transit time should be enough to allow me to make the modifications needed. As we entered the atmosphere I was greeted by the incredible sight of the planet below me. For a second I was able to forget all the work ahead and just enjoy the view. As a scientist I'm often stuck in a lab working long hours, so getting to see the beauty of Arium Major as we approached was a very welcome change. Quickly I got back into work mode though as I knew Dr. Long wouldn't be lenient on failure. I needed to get down there and get our water analysis drone operational and sending back data immediately! Another Angle: This is my first ever micro build. It was fun to try something new, so thanks to the game runners for the opportunity. Sorry Octan!
  16. *** Start Log *** Junali 18th, AD 3815 Thesseus B. Von Geekington reporting First scans of the planet Guinevere have been coming in. This planet, which seems to hold the precious metal Gold in it`s crust, registers are barely live sustainable. Arid deserts and fierce, hot lava streams cover it`s entire surface, and scanners are currently investigating if their are native lifeforms present, as we pick up Biomass readings as we... *BIP BIP BIP* Scans completed, and an image is coming through... well I`ll be damned. So that is where those readings originate from.... For the record, I can now report that there is indeed indiginous life present, as we found traces of small settlements littering the desert floors. Further investigation might be advised before starting mining operations. *** End Log *** For the first Challenge in the Andromeda's Gates game, the goal is to recreate just the landscape of a planet. My selected goal, the planet Guinevere, consists of nothing more then arid deserts and lava streams, so I decided to try my hand at microbuilding and make a settlement located somewhere in the large oceans of sand...

    [M - A05] Experiment L3A05

Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Date: 14 Junali 3815. Experiment Code: L3A05. Lead Scientist: Big Sal. Laboratory: Yallorn II, Laboratory Outpost 3. Aim: Analyse items obtained by field agents. Excerpt ends. Ah, it’s good to be back in the lab. I can’t believe how long it took to analyse all of Lafevre’s seaweed samples after she inconsiderately got herself killed. I’ll be happy if I never see another plant for the rest of my life. Right, let’s see if I can figure out this… thing… that Arariel stole from Kawashita. At times like these, delicate scientific technique is called for. This thing is useless! I bet Arariel just swiped the first ornament he saw from the public lobby of that museum then came back and made up some story about his amazing infiltration skills. Maybe I’ll have more luck with the tentacle from the creature Mark of Orion encountered here. Can’t be bothered with DNA analysis, I’ll just inject some awesomnium extract and see what happens… … … … Ugh, looks like it’s just going to be one of those days when nothing works. Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Method: Conducted highly scientific analysis of object K-5654 and Yallorn II xenos sample. Results: Detailed analysis of both items revealed nothing of use to M.A.N.T.I.S. Conclusions: None. Safety Report: None. Excerpt ends. Was that a ship landing outside? Best go check it out. Alright mate, got a delivery for Big Sal. That’s me. Nice one pal, I’ve been all over the place trying to deliver this. Sign here please. Righto. What have you got for me? What the hell?? What's with all the plants?! Long story mate. They were meant to go to Dr Lefevre on Barnius, but when I showed up there it turned out she was dead. So I look at the personnel files and the next most qualified botanist is Dr Johnson on Linopeia III. Would you believe it, I turn up there and he’s dead too! Never knew plants were so dangerous, heh heh. Anyway, I figured I’d just bring them to the ranking scientist to deal with, and that’s you. But I hate plants! Take them to Dr Arkov! Nah pal, you signed for ‘em, see? Not my problem any more. But… but… See ya! Didn't have time to do everything I wanted with the story, but oh well. I tried to include as much stuff from other M.A.N.T.I.S. builds as I could. Comments and criticism welcome! More pics, including proof that the lab is inside the building, in the spoiler.

    [O - F09] Realities

Location: F09 - Arium Minor Tags: Science, Octan, Civil, Vehicle // PERSONAL DIARY // As a recent graduate of the Octan Science Academy (with honors!) I was excited to see my first assignment in the real world. I'd been sent to Arium Minor to work with Dr. Martenz. I hadn't been quite sure what I would be doing, but it felt good to finally be able to contribute and Dr. Martenz was well regarded within the company. Upon arrival at the Octan Corp ship on planet I introduced myself to Dr. Martenz and was a bit saddened by how little attention he seemed to pay to my arrival. He seemed distracted by his work and quite busy. He said that some of the local alien pathogens were fascinating and had a lot of potential in the biomass field. He then said he needed me to take a pair of monkeys from Medical down to the Lab. They had been exposed to some of the pathogens and he needed them monitored. I tried to tell him that while I minored in xenobiochemology that my primary field of expertise was robotics including drones and autonomous vehicles. He asked if I had taken the "REQUIRED clinicals" at the academy, to which I had to say I had. We were short staffed at the moment he explained and given that I knew the proper safety protocols and had a containment suit I would need to contribute to the needs of the company and not be as worried about my own desires. "There will be plenty of opportunities to play with your robots!" he said rather dismissively. Obviously he thought of himself as a true scientist and I was merely a boy playing with toys to him. But he was an important scientist and I didn't want to make a bad first impression so I complied. I had been a bit worried about his repeated warnings to keep my containment suit on and NOT let the monkeys escape. Plus it was disconcerting that he asked if all of my next of kin info had been filled out. The dart gun mounted near my seat seemed more for show than to actually be used. I made sure to drive very carefully and ensure my cargo made it to the Lab safely. It may not be how I pictured my post-Academy life, but it certainly isn't boring! Apologies for the bad pictures and quick build, I joined mid-week and thus was quite rushed. Hopefully churn out better stuff going forward! Go Octan!

    [O-H09] Equipment Drop

BEGIN TRANSMISSION 04: SPECIAL FORCES JEBEDIAH O'REILLY TO OCTAN HQ SECURE CHANNEL 768954 8 JUNALI AD 3815 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This was supposed to be my week off. I was just getting ready to travel back to Farmolis for a nice, relaxing vacation when I got an "emergency call" to do some advance scouting on Wastyria. I get to the hanger and evidently I'm also supposed to install some equipment on Wastyria. As no minifigure has yet walked its surface Octan needed some sensory equipment installed to guide in the big transport ships. So here I am,fastening down the final component of the first device. One down, nineteen to go... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- END TRANSMISSION 04 [O-H09] Equipment Drop [O-H09] Equipment Drop Didn't have much time to build this week so just got in a quick little build. Some points are better than no points! Comments and criticism welcome!
  20. [Log Entry II - Lorstan II] I've been planet side for a little over a week now, and have settled into my routine. The job is simple (painfully so, I am sure once I have gone off to further lands a robot will be tasked with it). After scouting and affirming the existence of several small isles I was airdropped a number of desalination tanks which I set up quickly and easily in six different locations. I now spend my days traveling between all six of my locations, making sure that each machine is running as it should. The work is mind-numbing. There has yet to be a problem, and I have yet to run into another human soul - nay, yet to run into another living thing. It rains most days, but today I have been blessed with some meager sunlight peaking through the clouds. My favorite site - my de facto home - is at the edge of a small forest of tall black bamboo (what it truly is I cannot say, but I will call it bamboo for lack of a more scientific label - there is much work to be done on Lorstan once it is made livable). I sleep here most nights, and am kept company by some of my favorite authors. Though I've yet to have direct contact with any of the pilots who air drop my supplies and the like (I send a transmission to corporate and they see to it that my needs are filled) they have been kind enough to honor my requests for literature and green tea. I stand now staring at the ocean as warm liquid seeps into my belly, and though my mind is abuzz with the great words I've read today I am reminded instead of a poem from my childhood: Water, water, everywhere, And all the boards did shrink; Water, water, every where, Nor any drop to drink. [End Log Entry] [i think I need one more shot from one more angle (to best show the desalination machine, for my own pleasure) but the sun has left me, so it will have to wait until tomorrow].

    [M - B03] Experiment X2B03

Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Date: 27 Maian 3815. Experiment Code: X2B03. Lead Scientist: Big Sal. Laboratory: Linopeia III Facility, Xenobiology Lab 2. Aim: Investigate local wildlife for useful properties. Excerpt ends. "Johnson, stop messing around with my awesomnium! That's the first batch from Ninja Nin's drilling machine, and I need to store it here because my materials lab is still being repaired." "Fine, fine. Wait, Sal, isn't that one of the man eating yellow frogs that nearly killed Lady K's team??" "Calm down, it's sedated. I've run all the usual tests and there's nothing interesting. Just extreme aggression, virulent toxins and regenerative abilities." "Those sound pretty interesting to me Sal!" "That's why I'm the lead scientist, and you're not. Now, let's inject it with some of my new awesomnium extract." "Uh, that doesn't sound very safe. Especially since the combination of the extract and the regener-" "Damn it Johnson, show some backbone for once! Science isn't about being safe!" Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Method: Despite my objections on safety grounds, Johnson insists that we try injecting the new awesomnium extract into the predatory yellow amphibians discovered by Lady Kianna. Prediction: The serum may react in an unpredictable manner with the creature's regenerative abilities. Excerpt ends. "Nothing's happening Sal. Let's just forget this ever happened and... WHAT THE F???!!!" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Results: Awesomnium extract caused extreme growth in the creature and negated the effects of the sedative. The creature was driven away by laser pistol blasts but appeared to suffer no significant injury. Its resilience may therefore also have been enhanced by the awesomnium extract. Conclusions: A combination of the awesomnium extract and a serum from the creatures could lead to powerful combat drugs for our special forces. Extreme care will be necessary. Safety Report: Johnson's reckless approach to science, despite my warnings, led directly to his death and the destruction of the laboratory by the enhanced creature. Were it not for my heroics in driving the creature away, dozens more lives may have been lost. Is there a chance Johnson was an Octan or Kawashita agent trying to sabotage our research? Excerpt ends. I had a lot of fun with this one! Comments and criticism welcome. Here's the whole build: (Ok, so I forgot to take a photo before the lab was destroyed )

    [M - B03] Experiment M5B03

Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Date: 20 Maian 3815. Experiment Code: M5B03. Lead Scientist: Big Sal. Laboratory: Linopeia III Facility, Materials Lab 5. Aim: Assess local rock sample for precious metals. Excerpt ends. "Well, I suppose I'd better get on with aligning the lasers." "The other lasers are fine, but the connections on this one are a bit loose. However... to fix it I'd have to go borrow a ladder from Sci-X's lab, which would mean actually speaking to Sci-X... I'll just leave it - what's the worst that could happen?" Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Method: Precious metal content will be analysed using newly designed quad-laser quark-gluon spectrometer. Prediction: Analysis will reveal any subatomic impressions of awesomnium, gold, mithril or copper, effectively scanning the whole of Linopeia III with just one sample. Excerpt ends. "Everything's set up - time to fire the lasers!" "Everything seems to be working as expected. Wait, what's that tearing sound?" "Whoops! At least it didn't damage the highly explosive gas canister it fell on..." Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Results: Quark-gluon impression spectra contains distinct awesomnium signature. Conclusions: High probability of extensive awesomnium deposits on Linopeia III. No other precious metals detected. Spectrometer worked perfectly. Safety report: No incidents to report. However, on returning to laboratory after experiment, evidence of large explosion causing extensive damage to laboratory. I suspect Octan or Kawashita sabotage! Excerpt ends. Comments and criticism welcome! Here's the whole build:
