  1. I'm feeling tropical lately, and decided to build something different from my usual medieval-fantasy MOCs - something inspired from vintage jungle adventures and pulp fictions. I hope it's in the appropriate forum category! Every morning, Miss Aurora McGregor would walk around the little tract of jungle she now called home. Several months had passed since the plane crash, since the party sent by the Natural History Museum in search of the lost city of Kibiru got stranded in a forgotten land. Some of the survivors were desperate to come back to civilisation. Others were thrilled to discover a lost world. Aurora ... just felt like she had always belonged here.

    40177 City Jungle Explorer Kit

Does anyone know when 40177 City Jungle Explorer Kit was released or will be released? It's listed as a 2017 set but I haven't seen it anywhere. I've been to LEGOLAND and watched the calendars so I don't think I've missed it. Been trying to get a LEGO set for the past few years that includes a tent. I'd hate to spend money on eBay for one and then finally see it sold in stores.
  3. On their way back from Lake Myzec to Myzectlan, the Myzec have to traverse the dangerous jungles of Cascadia. Their century-lasting fear of the felines of Cascadia has forced them to ensure a safe passage through the jungle. Besides some active watchtowers, there are smaller fighting platforms spread all through the jungles. The Myzec call those defensive platforms "Miraforma". A Miraforma is elevated high enough so that the large carnivorous cats cannot just jump on it. A rope ladder can be reeled up, and the weapons on the platform - mainly bows, quivers with arrows and spears - give even the weakest farmers a chance to defend themselves. I felt that the fight against the felines is such an important aspect of Myzec life that I had to contribute a MOC dedicated towards it to this challenge. Also I wanted to try out some new approaches to both rocks (ok, hardly visible in the dense jungle, bot still there) and especially to plants. Some more pictures show: The empty scene without minifigures: The Myzec running towards the Miraforma: And some of my plant creations:
  4. Cat A Cat B part 1 Cat B part 2 île D'Or, August 618, somewhere in the jungle Captain Rimbaud and his men were following the trail left by the black-cloaked assassins since dawn, when they found a building hidden in the jungle. "They didn't even conceal their trail, they were completely sure about killing us tonight!" "Better for us, mon ami, or we would have only four corpses with a knife and a strange medallion each... Definitely not enough for our hunt!" It seemed a little temple, completely covered by vines and surrounded by a thick fence of poles. Folkloric versions of the 'keep out' sign welcomed the soldiers. "Jacob, search this place. If one of those black cloak is here around, shoot on sight!" "Yes Sir! Here it's clear!" "Dear Gods!" Exclaimed Doctor Laurent. "This is horrible! These men were natives, probably hunters arrived here by chance." "Why did they do that?" Asked sergeant Dubois, remained in rearguard "An offering? A sacrifice? Pagan savages!" "I think that these heads are a warning, sergeant! And this is not a pagan temple. This place is dedicated to the Enemy of the Gods!" Replied Monsieur Rimbaud with a serious voice. "There is no doubt: look at that symbol, a couple of stylized hands grabbing the sun…" "...and there is no statue on the altar, only a blood-red crystal. Ancient worshippers of the Enemy used these symbols too." "But Monsieur Rimbaud, mon ami" intervened Doctor Laurent "those fanatics were eradicated more than two hundred years ago, when they tried to overturn the Order and kill the Royal Family! The few survivors of their bloody revolt suicided en masse." "This is true, but… Well, when we'll find their lair we'll know the truth. Finding this place was a real stroke of luck! The men who attacked us tonight weren't one of the patrols, they were bringing them resupply; probably they were the first ones the red-headed spy found." "It means our enemies have to tighten their belts, and that alligators will party with their food!" "Yes, and it also means that, following the river we will find their den. It's time to send a message to lieutenant Norbert; it's platoon is waiting on the northern coast and we are going north, following the river. If they move southward we will take the main cove between the hammer and the anvil." The soldiers set fire to the interior of the little temple, putting a signaling rocket on the roof… it would have been ignited half an hour later, enough for disappearing in the jungle and hunting their enemies with their same methods, becoming shadows among the shadows, as invisible as ghosts. The rocket, giving Lieutenant Norbert the order to move An overall view
  5. Cat A Cat B part 1 île D'Or, August 618, somewhere in the jungle Nights can be very dark in the jungle, with just a little campfire to repel the shadows and the humidity of the night… very dark and very lonely, for a sentinel guarding the bivouac, alone among his companions wrapped in their blankets or, if they are lucky enough to be officers, sleeping in a comfortable tent. Nights in the jungle can also be very dangerous. Snakes leave their holes, hunting for preys in the bushes and in the low water... ...but you can also receive an undesirable visit of some two-legged snakes infesting the island. Without a sound, similar to shadows in the night, they got close to the camp: two of them headed to the tent, ready to cut the ropes and then slaughter the men trapped inside... ...while the others (among which a familiar face) approached the soldiers, in order to slit the sentinel's throat and kill the others in their sleep. It will be a matter of seconds: blades in the dark, horrible stabbing sounds, and everything will be over. A matter of seconds, and then... ...then the assassins dressed in black will be in the middle of the fake camp, clearly visible in the light of the fire, among straw puppets and pineapples covered by hats. Clearly visible… and ready to be ballasted with a considerable amount of lead! An overall view A couple of close-ups of the cane field
  6. [COR - CH II - Cat B] The Fatu Hiva Expedition - Base of Operations -------------------- Expedition Log: Part 1 Part 2 -------------------- Journal entry of Sergeant Anthony Andrews, Aide-De-Camp to Major Nathaniel Brickford. Day 12, After two long days of traversing through the dense jungles of Île d'Or, we finally reached the clearing that Tuk Tuk told us about. It was a little smaller than we first anticipated, however the well trained troops quickly got to work. We tried to remain as quiet as possible, but we needed to make a temporary palisade to protect ourselves. We dug down and cut bamboo in order to make a slightly camouflaged campsite. From past 10 yards we were invisible. The Fatu Hiva Expedition - Base of Operations 1 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr After most of the camp had been set up and the men were put on sentry duty, the major, Tuk Tuk, and myself began to form a course of action. Tuk Tuk told us that we were most certainly already being watched by the enemy. That was confirmed later when we started to hear the distant sound of war drums. We were within striking distance of the savage tribe, but we still didn't know what we were truly up against or even where they were located. Tuk Tuk began to tell us about the surrounding landscape as we brainstormed some ideas. The Fatu Hiva Expedition - Base of Operations 2 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr Tuk Tuk told us that the tribe would most likely be centered around a cave. The natives were very superstitious and in some of the caves there were shiny stones and veins of gold, which they believed gave them special powers. So we had to be prepared for a conflict in the darkness of a cave. Major Brickford believed that this could be a forgotten treasure and if what Tuk Tuk was saying was accurate, then there could be a fortune to be made on Île d'Or! We had priorities though, so we decided that before we finalized any plan we would find a vantage point and physically locate the natives campsite and find how strong their numbers were before attacking. It would not be long before we could liberate this island of this terror. -------------------- This is my second entry to Category B. More builds and more of the Fatu Hiva Expedition to follow! I was thinking this will fit as a small residence. C&C are welcome and appreciated and thanks for looking!
  7. Hello all together! A month ago I promised a freind of mine that I would build something for the Orient Expedition Contest over on Roguebricks. So I did! And I also wanted to share it with you all here on Eurobricks too: After Johnny Thunder and his friends had arrived in India, they were just on their way into the enchanted jungle. As a journalist, Pippin, beside the search for the treasure of Marco Polo, also wanted to take pictures of the flora and fauna with their new Camera to present them after their return to Europe. Dr. Kilroy instead wanted not only cinematographic but living examples, especially of rare butterflies. Their companion was Babloo, a young Indian. He knew all the jungle and the overgrown paths in it. So the four friends along with Pippins dog "Indi" and Babloos monkeys started their adventure. The group had to stop at a beautiful idyllic waterfall. Puppin sets up her camera and Dr. Kilroy climbed with Babloo's help, loaded with boxes and bags full of specimens and equipment to the top of the Waterfall to catch butterflies and dragonflies. But suddenly a noise broke through the air. It was the shouting of monkeys who had snatched Pippin's camera and taken it to the tops of the trees. Pippin and Johnny Thunder started to laugh because of the absurdity of the spectacle. Babloo just headed downhill to help his new friends, as he discovered something that let him freeze: He spotted the evil guards of the Scorpion Palace on the other side of the waterfall. Worse, it was obvious that it they had discovered Johnny and Pippin. One of the guards was already aiming his rifle towards Johnny and luckily the path of the bullet was blocked by a tree hanging over the waterfall. Farther up, at the top of the waterfall, the situation became dramatic too. The boat of Maharaja Lallu was nearly falling down the waterfall, but was kept in place by one of the guards on the shore. The shake on landing woke up Lord Sinister in the back of the boat. He was waking up from his nap and could not believe his eyes. There, on the other bank standing on a stone was Dr. Kilroy. Lord Sinister pulled himself up and quickly pulled his revolver but could not concentrate on aiming because Maharaja Lallu was cursing annoyingly. How will our heroes escape these dangerous situations? (Sadly I only have my mobile here to take pictures so the quali is not that great...) Inspired by Mark of Falworth - The Temple of the Twin Jaguars Also bonus pics of the figures: I hope you enjoy what you see. Best Skalldyr
  8. Quinnsville Cocoa Plantation QV3.5 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr After safely arriving in Quinnsville via the Cocovia Wagon Way, Richard and Nathaniel Brickford set about going straight to work. While Richard went off to see about a place to stay until a proper house could be built, Nathaniel went off for a walk to stretch his legs after the sitting for so long. He ended up following his nose to a cocoa plantation on the outskirts of the settlement. He found the manager of the plantation and promptly asked for a tour of the area. He wrote down his findings in his notes and composed his first letter to Captain Cooke on Quinnsville. QV3.2 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr Dear Captain Jno. Cooke, RN, The state of Quinnsville is better off then originally perceived. While it has not seen very much growth since the retirement and sudden disappearance of Sir Smaugton, the settlement is operating business as usual. Just today I had the chance to tour one of the many cocoa plantations spread throughout the settlement. While the techniques that they use are still rather primitive, they effectively harvest vast amounts of raw cocoa each day. On a whole, I believe the entire settlement will be similar in the lack of modern conveniences, but that should be a relatively easy fix, given time and some dedicated care. I will begin the inspection of the fortifications and the troops before the week is out. Hopefully the lack of proper leadership has not made them relax in their regular duties and drills. In service to her Majesty, Captain Nathaniel Brickford, Military Attaché to Quinnsville QV3.3 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr Here is a close up of the tree for those interested. This whole build was inspired (and basically copied ) from @Ayrlego's cocoa plantation. I also reversed engineered the tree from his design. C&C are both welcome and apprecieated! Thanks for checking it out!
  9. Previously: Sinbad the Pirate Captain Sulu, captain of the Golden Dragon, decided to set out for lands uncharted and search for treasure. There were many tales of pirates who sailed beyond the known lands to find an island where which to bury their treasure. Sulu hoped to chance upon one or more such treasures. As such, he recruited a Platoon of men to sail with him into the unknown to help protect him against any potential dangers. They set out from Fatu Hiva and landed on an island simply known as #3 on an obscure map he bought off a drunk sailor. They landed without incident and began to explore the island. What would he and his crew find on the island?
  10. Hi everyone, We (me and my brother) have created a landscape based on the Adventures theme from 1998 and 1999. The landscape was shown at Lego World the Netherlands 2017. The landscape contains a piramide, a temple, a lake town, a village and many vehicles. You have already seen the development of the vehicles and landscape in Various Adventurers Creations The piramide was build by my brother and it contains many rooms with traps, treasures, mummies and action. The Jungle was created by me and for the first time we added trees and more plants to make it look like a real jungle. I am glad that the water worked out fine. Someone told me that the river should be bigger compared to the ship the river is small. He had a point, but it was already expensive to purchase all the transparent pieces. For more pictures visit my Flickr album. Land of Adventure Questions and feedback are welcome. Sander
  11. Steve Gaels, adventurer during his free time and working in a Parisian museum, found a very old map on a market in London. When he found out that that map could help him discover the lost treasure of an ancient and extinct tribe, he took the first plane to North America. Hapapou is a Native American who crossed Steve's path after he lost a poker game - and almost his life - just before Steve saved him from outlaws. In exchange, Hapapou promised to help Steve to find the famous treasure. See more pictures in the album here : Steve Gaels and Hapapou's Adventures! Thanks for any suggestions or comments!
  12. Hi everyone, Me and my brother are planning to build an Adventurers layout based on the Desert and Jungle series. My brother will build the Desert part of the landscape and I will build the Amazon part. I have started with the vehicles, because if I start building the landscape, I do not have the parts for the vehicles. I have built several cars (I think 12). 4 of those cars will be used in a town The left car is a little based based on the Island Racer of the Dino Island. I have created one jeep inspired from a jeep of Indiana Jones. It was the idea to make the jeep 7 studs wide. I have created another car and someone compared it with the car of Donald Duck. The focus was on the mudguards. I have created a ship/boat based on the River Expedition set of the Amazone. The boat has another color scheme than the set, but the structure is almost the same. For more pictures you can see them in the Flickr album. Various Adventurers Creations I still need to take some pictures of other cars. I will do that at the end of the week. Questions and feedback are welcome. Sander

    [MOC] Jungle Car "NIVA"

    Off-Road Expedition Car "NIVA"
  14. Sergent Eric and his men have wandered nearly a month in the jungle, they were exhausted and at the brink of collapse, when finally, the vegetation became less dense and they saw the white wall of a Corlander fort. -Hurry up, guys, we are save! -It's about time, sarge. - Sir I see some Oleaneses wandering on a chocolate bar muddy path! Should we open fire? - No, they must be the prisoner escorts long awaited. Inform the lieutenant. -Good day, sir, you are late. -Yes, my apology, and we've lost our prisoner, and we are not ashamed of. FInally, our sergent meets Count Mesabi and announced him the "good" news. Of course the Count wasn't so pleased, neverthless he invited the Blues to share his dinner. -Chef, prepare the table for our guests. -Count, I'm afraid that we are a bit low on horses. -Never mind, you can always walk. About the build, I tried to immitate Ayrlego's tower, as it has a strong corrish look.
  15. This model was based on set 21132 from the Minecraft theme, which was expanded and modified to be quite a bit larger with surrounding rock features, dangerous rope bridge, a second room and cave for the man-tiger creature. The first half of the map (the one the pirate had) described in the text is this one here while the one half Johnny had is in this link. Early summer, 1926, somewhere in the jungles of a forgotten island off the coast of South America... This is it: the Temple of the Unknown Question. Inside this structure is the other-worldly Guardian which will grant you either fantastic riches, immortality, or infinite knowledge... your choice is one of those three. (If you answer it's question correctly of course!) To reach the secluded temple, Johnny Thunder had to follow a certain map: the only problem was a 17th century pirate had the other half of said map on his ship. To find the temple, he had to find pirate, who had already answered the question and become immortal. Upon finding him, the pirate gave the map (and some advice) to Johnny, who then had it stolen by Lord Sam Sinister. After following Sam to the hidden island and the temple therein, Johnny and company have to think fast to stop Sam from getting to the ancient guardian first! Just your average rickety / unstable rope bridge, placed right before the temple entrance. ...It even collapses on the pull of a Technic pin! Three switches are inside the first room. The two outer ones will unlock the the mechanism to reveal a treasure chest, while the middle one is a dummy lever. With the two outer levers flipped down, the chest is revealed. However, inside this chest is a Pandora's box of sorts: opening it will let out a bright light for 30 seconds or so, as it sucks those unfortunate enough to see the light into the infinitely larger space in the chest and then slams shut on itself. (kinda like the Ark of the Covenant from "Raiders of the Lost Ark") In universe, this box will be taken by Sam Sinister as he thinks it contains the treasure he seeks. Meanwhile the good guys notice the door to a second room and crawl through it as soon as the bad guys leave with the false treasure. This secret second room holds the treasure guardian statue, and a back exit from the temple via a damaged wall. Just be careful not to wake the mighty tiger-man on your way out! In-universe description: The real treasure is inside the second room: after seeing the notched arrows placed by the pirate many years ago on the first room's walls, Johnny finds the small secret door and enters this room to find the guardian and five jewels. (four on walls, one on the staff in guardian's hand) The statue awakens, and asks for a member of the party to come forward to receive the question. Heeding the pirate's advice, he sends Miss Pippin Reed to do the honors, as she alone can answer what no man can answer. (she is no man, after all) After relaying the answer via whisper, her mind is wiped of the question and answer, and is given the choice of immeasurable wealth, eternal life or infinite knowledge. She chooses not to choose, saying the gifts are too large for one person (or group of people) to share. Thus, the adventurers walk back outside and plant dynamite to blow the temple sky-high, thus destroying any chance of anyone, good or evil ever getting the question right again. The man-tiger guards his cave under the temple. Be careful Johnny and company, or you'll be a mid-afternoon snack for this hungry fellow! BUILDER'S NOTES: This is the original LDD build of the temple... quite a change to now! EDIT 8/3/17: Added more recent real life pictures and modified the text!
  16. More than three hundred years ago, the Myzec were at their prime, a highly sophisticated civilization, the undisputed rulers of Cascadia. But prosperty brought another problem: Time. People suddenly had plenty of it available - to think, to develop ambitions, and to start political intrigues. Vohazulan, a minor servant of the high priestess of the Myzec, used his influence among the common people to secretly originate his own religious cult. The "Felinians", as they called themselves, worshipped the large carnivourous cats, the apex predators of Cascadia's deep jungles, as gods. Soon Vohazulan's followers grew in size, secretly raising temples in unfrequented areas deep within the jungle, where they worshipped their feline gods. The Felinians refused to fight the carnivourous cats, and being eaten by a god was the greatest honour the cultists could hope for. While Vohazulan had only strived for political influence and raw power, his cult had soon made itself independent from its founder. Young men who were supposed to become warriors, scientists or masterbuilders, and even young women who were set for their way to religious and political power, ventured into the jungle alone, to become prey to the claws of the gods. Thus having acquired a taste for human flesh, and knowing the ease of obtaining it, more and more cats had become pure maneaters - which had not been their nature ever before. When the great retreat was initiated, at the time when the Myzec retreated into the protected valley and lost all contact to their mother civilization outside, Vohazulan was banned from the city of Myzectlan. While most Myzec believe he has found his self-created doom between the teeth of the largest tiger that had ever been, some fear he had secretly returned to the city, and that his cult may have lived on in the dark till this very day. Most Myzec, however, think only the events around Vohazulan and his cult have lead to the retreat of their whole people into the valley, and thus also to the demise of their civilization. Only in recent years their warriors have started to rediscover their bravery, venturing into the jungles once again, always ready to fight the felines, while the scientists hope that over generations the cats may have forgotten the taste of human flesh. This, at least, is what Halosian scientists have extracted from the incomplete records of Myzectlans history. Quite heavily inspired by this 3d rendering which I found via Google...

  18. The invigorating air of the Isla de la Many Names wafted over the small fort overlooking the bay on the protected western side of the island. Birds flitted through the air, and all together it was a fine morning. Suddenly a boat full of Eslandola's finnest (the ETWC, of course!) appeared around the spit, doubling into view as the soldiers let out a valiant shout, and leapt into the water and towards the only path leading up the cliffs. This, smiled the Mardierian officer in charge, would be a golly good battle. "Light the fuse and man the cannon, mates!" Colonel Brickwall Jones was the officer commissioned to lead the beach landing section of Eslandola's attacking force for this ingenious operation. Not only was he a fine commander, he also was a very enthusiatic one and a rather good actor, so he was the perfect choice for the job. "Geronimo!!!" Colonel Brickwall Jones dashed out of the water and up towards the cliffs in front of his men, setting what would appear to be an excellent example. Unfortunately, however, the good fellow got a little too carried away with his part, and had underestimated the Mardierians' power of aiming... KaBLEWIE!!!! Well, let that be a lesson to you, folks, never get too enthusiastic when it's not really all that necessary... ...Anyways! - Shortly before, and on the other side of the cliffs... "There they go, boys, now it's our turn!" exclaimed the officer in command of the other division of the ETWC elite troops, on the other side of the rocks. For, you see, our Eslandolan's are nothing if not remarkably inventive and clever. So while the unfortunate Colonel Brickwall Jones led his distracting force down the obvious and obviously deadly approach to the fortress, the real attacking party had fought their way through the thick undergrowth of the jungle, and come up on the opposite side. True, there was no path up, but, of course, that wasn't any problem for the ETWC either. And while the Mardierians were enjoying their prospects of easy victory, that victory was rapidly slipping out of their (slippery) hands. The result? Well, before long the Eslandolan flag was flying gloriously over yet one more of the island's forts! For Eslandola! And, here's my entry for Category B of the ongoing challenge! It was a tolerably quick build, but I'm rather happy with how it turned out - jungle builds are just so much fun! The path (which extends nearly all the way up, goes off the base, and comes back in on top - unfortunately it was rather difficult to capture in the pictures!) and building such a tiny fort with sloping sides were definitely the hardest parts, but nothing to insuperable The turtle may have been my favorite part, though! And there are just a couple of closeups and figless overviews left, so I'll leave them here: The beach landing party, And the ex-Colonel Brickwall Jones: Figless: There you have it! Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!
  19. Last we saw Montoya, he was setting out from Isla de Medio to escape the unpleasant realities of war and politics and once more turn his attention to the sciences. Now he had arrived at Cascadia, where he met the vanguard of the newly formed Royal Pioneers in the form of the recon section, who are specialised in exploration and reconnaisance. They are now venturing through the jungle looking for a place to establish a base of operations for future expeditions into the heartland of Cascadia. A base that would in time be known as Camp Isaac, named after Montoya. With the pioneers clearing the way, Montoya has ample time to stop and smell the flowers. Or more accurately put, to stop to catalogue and decribe them in the name of science.

  22. Hello again :) I built this MOC for competition in Polish forum. We should build MOC matching climate to any LEGO set, which was not spent years beyond 1997-2005. Our hero must go through the bridge which rotates clockwise when we draw Technic axle. Gallery on Flickr.
  23. John (LittleJohn) and I decided to do a collab series based around re-imagining old set themes. Adventurers is a theme we’ve liked for years, though we never had any of the sets. After getting some of the original figs at Brickfair, Virginia, we wanted to put them to good use. The landscape and temple were inspired by Grant Davis and Mark of Falworth. Johnny Thunder and his team of Adventurers have discovered an uncharted jungle island. Within the dense vegetation they find the entrance to a ruined temple! After leaping from pillar to pillar, over the crocodile swamp, Johnny reaches the gateway. They’re not the first ones there though, as the treasure-seeking gang boss, G.R. Edy is there with some henchmen. Will Johnny be able to prevail, and will Dr. Kilroy fall to the alligators? We hope you enjoy, and you can see plenty more pictures on our website

This MOC was created to advance the campaign of Oleon at Ile de Tyche (formerly known as "The Trap"), in search of the Pirate Lord's hidden gold mine. CC welcomed as always! Stumbling and falling our men press forward with the help of a scout and the adamant resolve of Hugo D' Offren. Always guarding Hugo, Tom "Juggernaught" Jones with his dual "cannons".
