    Lavalette Bakery

Previously: New Arrivals and Old Rivalries Just a small bakery in Lavalette. Comments and criticism are welcome. The one nice thing about working at six-thirty in the morning, the dockhand thought to himself, was that you didn't have to deal with the full heat of the sun. That and there weren't any ladies around to hear you curse every time a chest fell on your foot, an experience this particular dockhand could tell you from quite a bit of experience wasn't pleasant. P1110216 (2) by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Fortunately that experience did not repeat itself this morning, as the dockhand successfully carried the black sack of flour several blocks from the bustling quay to the new bakery. After briefly pausing to enjoy the smell of bread baking in the warm, humid tropical air, he continued to the bakery. Arriving at the door, he gently maneuvered his arm against the latch until he felt it give way. With a gentle push, he opened the door and upon entering announced "flour from the docks, sir." P1110218 by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr "Just a moment, one moment now" cried the baker. "I'll be with you in a moment;." Seeing that the baker was busy attending to something baking in the oven, the dockhand set the sack down and looked around. It was a simple shop with a few loaves of bread resting on crates, several sacks in the corner, and the baker's son helping to kneed the dough. "Now then, how may I assist you fine sir?" asked the baker. "But of course, you must be from the docks" continued the baker, answering his own question before the dockhand could even open his mouth. "The usual amount then" continued the baker as he took out a small purse and began counting coins. "And there you, are five-twelfths doubloons" said the baker as the dockhand put four of the coins into a small bag he would return to the ship's master while sliding the fifth into his pocket. P1110220 by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr "Thank you kindly" said the dockhand tipping his hat. "And before I go, how much for a croissant" he said, pointing to the delicious food that, only a moment before was sitting in the oven. "This is embarrassing, but I'm afraid those aren't for sale" relied the baker in an apologetic tone. "Those are for the funeral." A puzzled look came over the dockhand's face as he asked "funeral?" "Yes, Father Leon's funeral, oh and to think his leg was just starting to get better. What terrible luck. But I digress. Apparently," the baker went on. "Apparently Charon's obol isn't enough for this fellow. Heck, I've never heard of giving the dead food for their voyage, but if the Company wants to pay for the dead to eat, so be it." "Surely the living need to eat more than the dead," replied the dockhand. The baker apologetically shrugged his shoulders before saying "the best I can do is to offer you a baguette. But now, you must excuse me. I fear my son is not properly kneading the dough." Two overview shots. P1110215 by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr P1110212 by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr

    [OL - FB] The 'Pélican'

Ahoy, laddies! Presenting a hull experiment that went ship: The 'Pélican' The Pélican is one of many barges afloat in New Terra. A true workhorse - but not more. This type of ship isn't a glorious one, barely anyone remembers them once they've delivered their cargo. But without them, large parts of the thriving economy would simply brake down. Transport barges are the backbone of both inner and inter-island cargo supply, as their shallow draught permits them to travel on rivers, too. Time for a small spotlight on this sailing barge here, carrying timber from Eltina to Breshaun. And a comparison shot I haven't done in a long time: ... still larger than the IFS About: A while ago I was fiddling around with 1x4 curved slopes and flextubes, to create a hull. It didn't result in something I liked, I got bored, so I kicked it. Well, now I was in need of a medium transport ship, so I dug up the idea, and after some more fiddling around it worked out - et voilà - sailing barge. It's buildable, and should even be swooshable. I put some more effort into the rigging, to test out something new, and because otherwise this would just be a boring floating hull For now Pélican will be licensed as... yes, you've guessed correctly... a barge. But I think there's some margin here justifying a higher rating later on. Thanks for watching, C&C as always welcome Vive le Roi!
  3. A successful MRCA run. Long John Bronze (4A) was captured by the Sea Rats. "We surrender. Your ship looks like a tasty chocolate cake with strawberry frosting. We can not resist." Long John Bronze Ship by dr_spock_888, on Flickr She appears to be crewed by tall Amazons with sharp bronzed blades? Maybe they are related to Amara. Captured license has been MOC'ed.
  4. According to the Kings Port Advertiser : Puerto Alijo 4 0 0 Raided by MAR privateer "Le Penguin". Jasmyn Cuervo taken prisoner In those times of war there is no port safe for the Eslandolan realm. Even little hamlets such Puerto Alijo have been raided by the Mardieran fleet ! The mighty Empire used all its power by sea in order to pillage every town its fleet could reach. The sea was covered by Yellow and Orange Armadas ! They entered and pillaged at will every eslandolan spot on the outer seas... It was perceived in Mardier as a good way to finance the war and a way to hit Eslandola directly to where it hurts : the wallet ! The problem is what to do when you're landing to a little port like Puerto Alijo, just a nice little cove hamlet secured by a straight pass on Torach Bonn ? The Mardier privateer named "Le pingouin" thought it could be a good spot to pillage. No security and no Eslandolan army presence. A piece of cake ! The vessel of the Privateer entered in the cove but all its heavy escort made by strongly armed Mardieran vessels had to wait outside the port due to a lack of place to manoeuvre. The port is small and there is not enough place for a large vessel ! Nevertheless, "Le Pingouin" landed alone with some of his Mardier friends but they encountered resistance in the person of Lady Jazmyn Cuervo. Swift and at ease with a rapier, Lady Jazmyn put on difficulty some mardieran soldiers but "Le Pingouin" stopped her by threatening her by his pistol ! She finished firmly tied up and she was put aboard the ship of "Le Pingouin" with the (very) light loot the Privateers could find. This build is the first part of the Adventures of Lady Cuervo. I made this MOC to show a view of Puerto Alijo and to help @Stash2Sixx. I am leaving him the right to licence my build as a MRCA result for this month.
  5. Preamble: After finishing this build several months ago I had been growing increasingly frustrated with my inability to take 'ideal' shots with my limited photography set up. Coupled with reduced opportunity to take pictures during the festive period the build had grown quite dusty, which is noticeable in the photos presented. For this I apologise, but I have decided I would rather have pictures to post than continuously waiting until I have 'perfect' shots. And with that said, I now present the finished ship. Previous: The Bleak Angel: Prelude Heroes, Villains and Legends A Journey Through the Discoveries of the Age of Exploration: the Ships; the Captains; the People Volume Four: The Self-Styled and So-Called Sea Rats By Quentin Connors Chapter Thirteen: The Bleak Angel, continued... The next evening, all other affairs in order, I went to board the Bleak Angel. Upon sight of her I immediately knew how so many tales had sprung up around the ship. Tales of an immortal captain, an unsinkable ship dredged up by a dark force, of witches and heretics and all manner of things my Corrington upbringing left little room in the world for. My first introduction was to the bleak angel itself, the ship's figurehead and the two skulls that flanked it. I was informed the skulls were named Larry and Barry. Several crewmen offered explanations for the names and their presence. My favourite was that the skulls were the remains of two headstrong crew members who had once pledged to man the ship until it no longer sailed; following their untimely deaths in an ill-thought up venture Captain Dracken took them at their word and installed them as the ship's “spiritual advisers”. Mister Jakes greeted me as I boarded. I was swiftly introduced to Miss Abigail Kite, the ship's second officer and former gunnery master. Miss Kite now largely served as officer for the ship's marines. As with most Sea Rat vessels the marines were less a dedicated group of soldiers and simply the most violent and reliable actors in previous boarding actions. Perhaps they were best exemplified by Eleanor and Elizabeth, commonly known by the rest of the crew as “the Murder Twins” - though I should note only from a suitably safe distance. The twins had positioned themselves as Kite's left and right hands, when not hurting people. The last officer on the ship was Bartholomew Drake, the ship's quartermaster. A man surprisingly keen on bare knuckles pugilism, Drake often bore bruises from 'friendly' matches with other crew members. Somehow this did little to dull his mind, which remained consistently sharp despite the repeated head injuries he surely must have received on account of his hobby. “Old Man” O'malley was the Angel's cabin boy and errand runner. Whatever his given first name is, I never heard it used during my time on the vessel. After a few days of laborious sailing I was invited to meet with Captain Dracken himself in his cabin. Dracken revealed he had heard my tavern discussion with Mr. Jakes and was intrigued by my efforts to document the age of sail as it was happening. Dracken's cabin was, unsurprisingly, the largest, though it did also have to function as his private office and briefing room for his officers. My eyes were drawn to the numerous idols decorating the cabin. Here was quite a curious thing: that a man claiming to be an Oleonder officer, and therefore minor priest of Poseidon, on a ship named after the Angelic Heresy and living in a room filled with heathen idols. The antique but well maintained admiral's uniform Dracken had lying on his bed certainly failed to clarify anything. One of the more popular tales regarding Leon Dracken is the story of him being granted an extended lifespan by a witch for saving her life. I bring this up again for the unique interactions between Dracken and one of his crew make sense only with this context. Two young women serve on his ship. Liliana Vespwood, missing daughter of Lord Vespwood, is the ship's helmswoman and navigator. Her frequent – almost constant – companion went by the name Althea Holtzstein-Dracken and claimed to be the Captain's grand-daughter. If this was a charade it was one the two Drackens managed to perform and maintain for several years. If it was not, truly, the world is much stranger than I and my countrymen would ever admit. In any case I seldom witnessed the two young women far apart and heard some talk their relationship was closer than friendly. During the early stage of the voyage I caught frequent glimpses of the ship's most reclusive crew member, the one known as the witch: Iosefka. Several other tavern patrons in Bastion claimed the ship employed a witch to control the weather and turn it to the ships favour and I began to wonder which came first, the stories or Iosefka's presence on the ship. My only significant interaction with Iosefka came when accompanying another crew member, Boris, to seek medical assistance from her. She made her home in a large cabin at the back of the gun deck. Iosefka's appearance was striking; taller than most of the crew, skin nearly corpse-like white and almost unnaturally slender build. She bore all the characteristics associated with the victims of the Blackwater Massacre. Discovering this 'witch' served as a the crew's surgeon was a surprise and her book collection included several volumes I recognised as medical textbooks banned in several nations on account of how subjects for study were obtained. Like many pirate vessels, the Angel's gun deck was a cramped and noisy place, overloaded with larger cannons and leaving little space for cargo. I was told the ship traded, when the Captain was so inclined, in smaller high value items and so needed little space for trade goods. And as on most ships, the Sea Rats were joined by actual rats. That the crew kept a number of animals for the purpose of hunting those rats was unsurprising. Little did I realise at the time that I had joined the ship as the captain pursued the so called "Heretic's Hoard", a long rumoured treasure trove located on an unknown island. As fate would have it, my first journey on the Bleak Angel would by far be the least unusual. End of Chapter. Some more behind the spoiler button.
  6. A stolen ship made escaping the Eslandolan forces quite a simple matter, but where were two highly unusual pirates to go after that? Who would welcome one woman steeped in death, and another who may not be all together alive? Where would no one notice such a pair of monsters? Charlatan Bay it was… In Charlatan Bay there was a tavern known as Flotsam’s Rest. Squeezed between other buildings in Low Town it was a dark, dingy place with no windows. No one was ever sure if the name referred to the clientèle, or the various oddities used to decorate the bar. It was an otherwise usual night until Yharnam and Harrow stalked in, scaring the other patrons out of their way. Secluded in a corner they considered their next objective believing their presence had gone without drawing undue attention. They were wrong, of course, and their discussions were quite rudely interrupted by the approach of two men. “Yes?” Harrow hissed at the men. “Would one of you two rather lovely women by Jack Yharnam, former captain of the… um, unfunny joke?” asked the first interloper. Jacqueline Yharnam looked unimpressed. Snikt. The man noted three things. Firstly, that he had never thought it humanly possible to move as quickly as Harrow did in that moment. Secondly, he had no idea where Harrow had retrieved that knife from. And thirdly, that he was loosing all sensation... As his body hit the floor his companion, more than a little rattled, tried to speak. “We meant no harm, cap’n,” he began, “we was sent by his Holiness the Bishop. His Holiness says he requests your audience, and ’as an offer of trade for you.” Yharnam approached him, slinking forward from her seat. Harrow still lurked nearby, licking the blood from her blade. It rather felt to him like being surrounded by predators. “What is he offering?” Yharnam asked. “Something about yer ship, cap’n,” the messenger said, “his Holiness says some ‘fortuitous circumstances’ have happened, and he can return ’er to you, but he needs sumthin’ from you.” Yharnam smiled a mirthless smile. “Lucky you,” she said, “you get to live through today. I will meet with your priest.” As they left the surviving messenger could only think one thing: That smile terrified him. Continued here. And some clean shots of the scenes: Flotsam's Rest is licensed as a Small Artisan property in Charlatan Bay.
  7. After his brief stop in Stormhaven, Major Dirk Allcock and his expedition have continued to their destination in the East Prio Sea. Here they have began to explore the islands that have been claimed by Corrington, namely Celestia, Cascadia and Garma's Key. He has slowly, yet methodically, made his away along the coast line, and has made a series of preliminary charts. Soon he will have compiled a preliminary map of Queen Annetta's latest possessions, complete with recommendations for future settlements. His main focus has been on Celestia. A much larger island than any claimed by Corrington so far, it is covered with verdant and thick jungle, much thicker and wetter than the colonies in the Sea of Thieves area. Large mountain ranges are visible in the interior. For now he has identified the site he believes is the most suitable for Corrington's first settlement in the Prio Seas. On the Western side of the Island, a large spit of land forms a huge natural harbour that he has dubbed Vanilla Lagoon after the abundance of the valuable epiphyte growing amongst the trees of the jungle on the leeward side of the bay. On the Southern side of the bay, opposite the promitory formed by the southernmost point of the spit, the jungle thins on a flat plain. It is here Dirk plans on establishing Jameston, named for Queen Annetta's Grandfather, King James IV of Corrington. Here he can be seen making landing on one of the beaches to the east of the settlement site. --- I've been planning this one since October but it just never seemed to come together. Several large BrickLink orders of 1x2 trans-blue tiles later and the motivation of the need for the scene for both the RPGs that I participate in, and here it is (finally). Jameston will be established shortly, and Major Allcock will be planning a mini-challenge to explore into the interior hopefully soon. The boat design is from Lego Monster's US Navy whaler on flickr, although the seating is quite fragile, the hull holds together well!
  8. Previously Escaping from an Oleon Jail, Captain Dracken escaped from LeBellan and returned to his ship. Revealing he had acquired a map to the lost vault of Oedon Black and the fabled Heretic's Hoard, Dracken set course on his ship, the Bleak Angel. The Heretic's Hoard, part I: The Fate of Oedon Black After some delays the Bleak Angel had finally found her target: a small island unmarked on maps and seemingly abandoned. From the wheel of the Angel Captain Dracken surveyed the isle. The only visible landing point was a small beach flanked by large outcroppings of rocks. “Ready the boats,” he said, “and make some room below decks.” Not trusting the quiet island Dracken assembled a heavily armed party. Second Mate Kite would oversee the crew, Bartholomew Drake would appraise the loot. They landed on the beach with no problem and were barely finished unloading weapons when everyone heard Drake ask the question. “What is that?” Suspended on a large pole above the beach was a skeleton, or most of it at any rate, wrapped in tattered cloth and chained in place. “Sky burial,” Dracken said, “pity the soul.” “Sounds like crazy Oleon stuff.” Kite said. “Not wrong,” Dracken said, “though not exclusive to Oleon. The faith claims that souls of the dead pass through to Hades' realm beneath the earth and so inter their bodies in the ground to help the soul cross over.” “And this sorry son-of-a-” Drake began. “Was Oedon Black himself,” Dracken said, “judging from that placard. Sky burial was reserved for heretics and other treasonous souls. The body hoisted aloft and left to be picked clean by carrion and insects. The idea is that burial in this fashion delays, or even prevents, a soul crossing over.” “That,” Kite said, “is messed up.” To Be Continued...
  9. Ahoy, y'all, today just a small scene... to get into the mood for some landscaping. Pioneers at Work With the first structures in Lavalette being erected, and more settlers arriving daily, the need for building materials on Stéphanique grows strongly. At the same time, in order to prepare the land surrounding the settlement for cultivation, large areas of the region's forests have to give way. So, naturally, the RNTC has hired a decent number of lumberjacks to deal with the tasks at hand. About: Not really much... just wanted to try out some foliage design, and depict the basics for settlement development. However, what was most frustrating in this was getting those chains right Thanks for looking, C&C welcome Vive le Roi!
  10. With both the Mirthless Jest and Maiden of the Deep captured, their captains - Jacqueline "Jack" Yharnam and Elspeth Harrow - were handed over to Eslandolan officials to face justice. However... Somewhere in an Eslandolan office... “Let me get this straight. We captured two notorious pirates, who were to be hung by the neck until dead this morning. And instead, when your best men went to retrieve said pirates from the gaol, they found their cells empty.” “Yes sir.” “And you have no explanation?” “No reasonable explanation, sir.” “Alright, what’s the unreasonable one?” “When we found Captain Yharnam’s cell empty, the prisoner in the cell adjacent was terrified. He told us of a story he had heard; that Jacqueline Yharnam had received the black spot and cut off her hand in order to escape the curse it supposedly comes with. This, according to the prisoner, left her trapped between the living and the dead.” “Superstitious nonsense.” “That’s what the prisoner believed, until last night. Apparently, shortly after sundown she underwent some kind of transformation that left her less than corporeal.” “Less than… what, she turned into a ghost and walked out?” “That is what the prisoner claims to have seen, sir.” “I take it there’s some equally preposterous excuse for the escape of the other one.” “Not as such, sir.” “No?” “Elspeth Harrow severely injured, mained or killed a dozen of our soldiers before being subdued sufficiently to incarcerate. She was manacled, chained by the ankle, masked to prevent biting and locked up in the deepest hole we could find for her. There are no available witnesses to her escape, but we believe Miss Yharnam helped her escape. We found the chain unfastened and discarded manacles, along with a trail of bodies leading to a missing ship.” “So not only did we fail to execute or even contain them, these pirates are now at large again?” “Yes, sir.”
  11. Some time ago, a small boatload of people from the far west of Halos landed in Mooreton Bay wishing to start a new life. The mayor at the time, Major Dirk Allcock, being a typical Corlander and open to people of all cultures, of course accepted them into the colony. They petitioned the mayor for some land in which to grow the staple cereal of their distant homeland, rice. Major Allcock was quite surprised when they requested land in the highlands inland of the colony. Although terraced systems were not unheard off, indeed Stormhaven had a sugar plantation utilising a similar system, it was still quite unorthodox. Nevertheless, Major Allcock approved, and even provided convict labour to clear the land and build the barriers for the terraces. Although he has since left the settlement, work has continued under the new Mayor, and the fields are now being planted for the first time. In this scene, the top tier has been flooded and planted. The middle has been flooded and is in the process of being planted; and the bottom is being ploughed by an oxen driven plough. Hi all! A small plantation for Mooreton Bay. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years!
  12. Introduction As the proud nation Oleon is, there is an almost natural urge for her citizens to proudly prove their determination as faithful and loyal Oleanders. But loyalty goes both ways - and a wise Monarch is aware of this. So it is a royal duty to recognize exceptional acts of loyalty, and to offer kingly rewards. And what better way to reward practiced heroism for the cause of the nation than to grant prestigious orders and medals - marking the awardee as a role model for all Oleanders, increasing his renown, and thereby inspiring even more greatness in the hearts and minds of all people. How this works in-game: Well, it’s simple, really - contribute to Oleon’s esteem and glory, be that as a faithful and brave soldier on the fields of battle, or as a determined and loyal citizen, and His Majesty will provide for your own prestige and social standing. In this thread you will find descriptions of and requirements for all Oleander medals and decorations, and we will list all awardees here. Additionally, all awards will also be marked in the Oleon Intro Member List. General discussion will take place in the Oleon Intro Thread, and all awards will be announced there, too. Vive le Roi!
  13. Challenge Four – The First Treasure Fleet. Eslandola’s prize of New Terra, Nelisa has yielded many wonderful treasures for the economy of its parent nation. However, not much of gold and silver found on the island have been moved to the Old World yet. The King has decided to fill his coffers once more with the riches of his new colonies, and with cooperation from the great trade companies, they plan on moving a large portion of the treasure in a convoy from Nelisa to Terreli. Unfortunately some suspicious characters let loose the secret, and now the whole world is descending down upon the Sea of Storms waiting to take a shot at the convoy and its riches. Due Date: September 25 October 2nd, anywhere in the world Category A: Loose lips sinks ships In this category the builders are going to demonstrate how the secret of Eslandolan treasure fleet was leaked. Be creative, was it a spy? A pay-off? The King himself? Many rumors are floating around, illustrate one of them! The size limitation here is 32x32 with limited overhang. The winner of this challenge will have the right to set up a small settlement on an island their faction controls, and appoint a mayor character under their control (it can be your sig fig if you would like). They will also earn the title: Secret seller of New Terra. Category B: Plunder! In this category, builders will illustrate the plundering of the treasure fleet, or if they are allied to Eslandola (maybe they own a letter of marque?) or Eslandolan, they will depict the defense of the fleet. You don’t have to depict the whole fleet, one ship verses another works, or even a ship coming under internal threat would work here as well. If you don’t want to illustrate this with ship mocs, perhaps your men and women may be plundering the treasure fleet from the docks before it even gets off the boat in Terrelli? Anything goes, as long as the treasure fleet is being plundered or protected. The size limitation in generous, but overall all of the pieces of the MOC, when displayed, should fit within a 80x48 stud rectangle. The winning entry will earn its builder the title: Plunderer of the Great Golden Fleet, or Defender of the Great Golden Fleet. The winning nation will be able to use their new found treasure to invest in further discovery and will obtain one island and name it. Prizes - To Be Determined
  14. Ahoy, and happy new year 617! Contrary to me, the workers at the Royal Shipyards weren't completely useless over the holidays, but instead managed to build some ships. So without further ado: 'Centurion', 'Audacieuse' and 'Vigilante' The recent increase in pirate activity had caused some concern among the Duke of Corban's staff. But in response only some minor details were changed, some convoy routes were adapted, and the escorts' captains received orders to intensify their gunners' drill - but no additional matters were taken. However, these concerns turned into vigorous fury after the latest coup of infamous pirate Captain Morgan, who managed to overpower a whole convoy - and even capture two Oleander warships! It became clear that a response to this blatant and unprecedented aggression needed to be formulated. The first thing to do was obvious - more ships needed to be send over to Breshaun to be attached to the New Terra Fleet. Two of these can be seen here en route: Centurion - a brig of war carrying 20 8-pounders, and Audacieuse - a fast corvette armed with 20 12-pounders. Centurion - 20 Gun Brig of War 78x21 studs at the waterline, 4500+ pieces Audacieuse - 20 Gun Corvette 85x23 studs at the waterline, 4900+ pieces Vigilante - 38 Gun Frigate 101x23 studs at the waterline, 7000+ pieces About: Well... this was a lot of work. But I think it was well worth it, as all three turned out to be better looking than I expected they would when I started. In fact, the Vigilante should have gone to Oleon... but I decided to keep her for myself All ships might look similar - and yes, they are all based on the same basic principle. But each ship still had to be built up from scratch, and fiddled about with the details. The only thing I could copy to a relieving extend were the masts and sails - but sadly not the rigging So, this should cope with some of the increasing pirate activity - but to add to this: of course, if you don't tread on Oleon, you'll have nothing to fear Thanks for watching, C&C as always welcome Vive le Roi!
  15. Mrs. Cantelli is anxiously awaiting the arrival of her fir tree at the port. Her husband, Mr. Cantelli, spared no expense importing a fir tree for Merrynight. He ordered it from his tree importer. His importer is making a healthy profit by using a new supplier.

    [Minions] Merry Mug'mas

Ahoy, fellow BoBSers, a bit late maybe, but then... minions do their things when they feel like it - celebrating is no different. This is an entry for the Nellisan Merrynight mini-challenge, category C. Merry Mug'mas After having sold the plundered (and later beached) Santa Clara to Oleon - by the way the ship sank as those incompetent minions hadn't managed to fix her up watertight... or did they do that on purpose... maybe they don't even know themselves... anyways, moving on - well, with all the treasure and the additional Oleander DB, the minions had enough cash at their disposal to throw a proper Mug'mas party. So they filled up The One MugTM with mulled wine... and just went nuts. What's in all the presents, you may ask - probably just mugs and hats They had even heard about that Nellisan custom of decorating a fir tree... but somehow misunderstood the concept... or did it intentionally... who knows... anyways - bottom line: the fir tree quickly turned into a fire tree... About: Well, nothing special about this at all, the mug has been used before, the rest is pretty basic. However, the idea was in my head as soon as I read about the Merrynight mini-contest. This just had to be done Thanks for watching C&C welcome!
  17. Fir trees do not grow in Nellisa. It is very expensive to import fir trees and every citizen wants one for their Merrynight celebration. Some entrepeneurs of ill repute have an idea. They noticed weeds grow plentifully in Nellisa. Why not make fir trees out of them? They created a tree farm to get rich. The fake fir trees smell great and are the high point of Merrynight celebrations. The axes are false marketing. You do not get to cut down your own tree at the farm. It is best not to operate sharp implements in the presence of that much weed.
  18. Merrynight caroling to the less fortunate in Nellisa. The less fortunate don't seem all that interested in Merrynight singing. The rats on the other hand are leaving town.
  19. Ka-ching, fellow shareholders - and a classic ahoy, fellow BoBSers, I've gone land-lubbing for a while in preparation to get the Royal New Terra Company started, and this here is the first thing that came out of my endeavor: The RNTC School of Business in Breshaun The officials of the Royal New Terra Company meant business. Only a few weeks after the Duke of Vele had managed to gain the full backing for his plan from the High Council, His Majesty signed a royal charter for the company. Now, wheels were set in motion, preparations already made were carried out, and first ventures established. Among the first was the founding of a business school in Breshaun, hopefully soon enabling the RNTC to recruit its elite from a pool of qualified personal. For this purpose one of the newly erected upper class buildings West of Breshaun's harbor was purchased, fitted with a bell-tower, and equipped with the company's insignia. Now, all that was left to do was waiting for the school's director to arrive. About: This started out as a factory building, to be honest... but soon it became a study in half-offset-building, and it turned out to be quite good looking - well, at least from my point of view - so it had to get some more elaborate function. Coincidentally, at that point Bregir had just posted his Royal Society School in King's Harbor... aaaand voilà - business school What doesn't really come across is that the roof is actually shaped slightly concave - darn... 'cause that took a lot of time As usual, all could be build. The building itself, however doesn't have an interior - partly because of the hideous looks of the walls from the inside - and for the big part because I just couldn't be bothered Thanks for watching As always, C&C welcome Oh, this MOC is a starting gift for the RNTC. Vive le Roi!
  20. "Left, right, left, right, left" cried the Major as the soldiers marched along the street in the early morning. Following the company, Captain Anthony Genaro couldn't help but think that marines had it much better. Sure, you had to deal with all the perils of the sea, but you never had to drill, much less go on long marches, at such an ungodly hour. After all, no marine officer would dare risk disturbing the captain's sleep. But these thoughts were soon replaced with others as Anthony arrived under the black sign for one of Breshaun's most reputable wine merchants. Breshaun Wine Merchant by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr A bell over the door rang as Anthony stepped in. A lone assistant stood there brushing fictitious dust off an immaculate display of bottles while barrels, probably just arrived with the merchant convoy, were stacked along the windows. Before Anthony could move, a voice cried from the cellar. "I'll be right with you, sir," the voice cried as hurried footsteps came up the ladder. Breshaun Wine Merchant by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr The shopkeeper quickly appeared, closed the hatch, and after briefly adjusting his jacket he turned and exclaimed "my dear Captain, welcome, a thousand welcomes to you!" as he gratefully shook Anthony's hand. "We've heard of your heroic successes at keeping those pirates at bay, keeping them away from our merchant fleets," continued the shopkeeper, shaking Anthony's hand with increasing vigor. "But, oh, how rude of me, where are my manners. Davis, Davis there," called the shopkeeper to the assistant. "Bring the Captain a Bleaunote Royal, 614." "Which I'm doing, isn't I." replied Davis in his nasally whine. "Please, sir, how may I be of service" continued the shopkeeper, his attention returning to Anthony. Breshaun Wine Merchant by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr "I'm in need of several crates of wine," replied Anthony. "One of the highest quality and several others of good quality, but nothing too expensive" Anthony went on, briefly giving Davis a polite nod as he took the glass of Bleaunote Royal. "Certainly, sir" said the shopkeeper. "Now, what exactly did you have in mind?" Breshaun Wine Merchant by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Breshaun Wine Merchant by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr
  21. Ahoy there again, fellow brick-enthusiasts, today another brick in the wall that I call my landlubbing endeavor... aaand it's a place where bricks are made - who knew! Not the bricks you're looking for, though, but nonetheless 'important' - at least for the... City... of Breshaun The Brazzi Brothers' Brickyard in Breshaun December 21st - formally the beginning of the cold season in some parts of the old world, but next to a fire of several hundred degrees one could easily forget that Winter had arrived. The Brazzi Brothers probably didn't give it much of a thought neither. They just went about their business - their family business, to be more specific. Originating from southern Mardier, they had come to Breshaun almost 20 years ago in search for a new home far from the impacts of the Civil War raging in their home country. In Breshaun, they were among the first to set up a manufactury to produce large amounts of bricks - an investment that would soon turn out a huge asset in the development of the settlement into a thriving large town. And although today there are more and larger brickyards in and around Breshaun, it fills the three brothers with pride to have contributed - and still being contributive - to what is also their... City of Light. About: Hmm... not really much to say about this one. The oven had been in the making for a while, but I never came around building a house to go along with it. However, now it just had to be done, so I went for it The build itself is rather repetitive and unspectacular, but the details took a lot of time. I think, however, those bricky bricks aren't nice too nice to look at if used in masses... Need to change this in future builds... Oh, and I'm not really sure this is the way to actually make bricks... hmm... I might have to call Billund to find out... Anyway, I hope you can enjoy this a little, C&C welcome! Thanks for watching Vive le Roi!
  22. Somewhere on the way to Bastion after the MRCA run. Deciding which rowboat should be in the next run.
  23. At the most northern point of Windfall Island stands a small fort... Saber_Fort_1 One of the first constructions at the Eye of the Bay. Windfall is now able to accommodate troops. Saber_Fort_5 Saber_Fort_3 Saber_Fort_2 This is only a temporary construction though. I intend to completely revise the northern cliff of the Island (I want it to be a cliff, not the low plateau that it is now).
  24. Certainly not one of my better builds, for which I apologize, but I had to get it out there. Comments and criticism are always welcome. A sequel to Kolonialbeamter's Home Alone An Unwelcome Visitor Joy was in the air. Ideas for the great wealth, and tax revenue, that were flowing in from New Terra filled the young Duke of Vele's mind. Reports on the exact amounts were still arriving, with each day bringing new news and even greater riches to the Royal Treasury, a fact that made the Intendant Général des Finances quite pleased. Standing in the great boardroom, well, it wouldn't officially be a boardroom for at least a day, the Duke almost smiled. Not only would these successes all but guarantee support for his proposals in the Court, but it would ensure his proposals would be fell funded. But suddenly the Duke’s thoughts were interrupted by three short knocks on the door. An Unwelcome Visitor by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr “Enter” said the Duke. “My Lord,” replied the servant, “I beg your pardon, but the workmen desire to know when they can resume furnishing this room.” “They may resume once I am finished” stated the Duke. “Certainly, my lord. Also, the Lord Calida is here and wishes to speak with you.” An Unwelcome Visitor by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Startled, the Duke looked up. “Now?” The Duke’s mind raced. He hadn’t expected to deal with the Lord Chancellor until tomorrow. “Very well, in a minute, you may send him in. Cornelius” turning to the painter who had been quietly paining the whole while, “we will resume once I am finished, you may leave your equipment.” Cornelius bowed and exited through a side door as several servants arrived to prepare the Duke to receive Calida. Seconds after they had finished, shutting the side door behind them, the first servant reappeared through the main door, “Presenting Lucier Henri Calida, Lord of Courtia, Royal Chancellor to” but before the servant could finished, Calida brushed him aside and entered. An Unwelcome Visitor by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr “An unexpected… visit” said the Duke. “No doubt your spies informed you of my whereabouts.” “What is this?” hissed Calida, ignoring the Duke and holding up a piece of parchment. With a puzzled expression, the Duke took the parchment, and after careful examination declared “why, it certainly appears, just appears mind you, to be a piece of high quality parchment.” With the cold, dead eyes of a shark, Calida stared back for several seconds before repeating himself. “What is this?” “My I ask what exactly you are referring to?” replied the Duke, some of his boldness gone. Staring into those dark eyes was enough to frighten most men, and even the Duke Calida’s peer, wished he had several of his guards at his back. “Article IV” stated the ever-brief Calida. Pausing for a few moments to collect his thoughts, the Duke replied “It has the backing of the entire Court, well, at least of all the secretaries and the High Council. This draft of Article IV has been known for months, and I have yet to hear of any complaints from anyone other than yourself. Furthermore,” continued the Duc, becoming bolder as he went on, “furthermore, I assure you that the Order will get whatever exceptions it needs to continue looking for magic rocks or holy trees or whatever sacred thing you consistently waste the Crown’s doubloons trying to find.” “You could be imprisoned for making such remarks about the Faith” Calida growled, his normally unchanging face showing a flickering of anger, or possibly fear. “Yes, Calida, and even the Order’s temples are subject to tax,” threatened the Duke. “If my agents visited the main temple tomorrow,” “We will discuss this matter in Court” interrupted Calida as he turned, swiftly glided across the room and left as quickly as he came. An Unwelcome Visitor by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Yes, joy surely was in the air, but as he stood there, the adrenaline slowly leaving him, the young Duke couldn’t help but wonder if he hadn’t gone too far. Regardless, it was too late to change anything now. Ships had been deployed, agents were making preparations, and tomorrow the whole Court would gather to see the Duke’s proposals signed by the King. Oh well, sighed the Duke feeling the official Charter safely stored inside his cloak, perhaps he’d feel better after a good night’s rest. An Unwelcome Visitor by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr

Ahoy, fellow KPA-subscribers, Build #1 after the MCRA-results have hit the news - and some jaws the floor. No MCRA-result build, though - something bigger! Well, introducing something big, at least... or contributing to introduce it. Anyway, for now enjoy this here Home Alone Joy was in the air. After many weeks without any news at all, the bulk of the Oleander fleets finally arrived safely in the trading ports of Halos. Some early reports had already hinted at great riches they would haul in. But these reports were all rendered trivial by the sheer unfathomable amount of trading goods from New Terra that was really being shipped in! So there finally seemed to be enough capital around to go through with an ambitious plan the Duke of Vele had proposed to His Majesty. A plan that involved great financial risk. But one that in return also promised even greater profits for all courageous enough to embrace it. And, most importantly, this plan offered the chance to gain a more effective grasp on Oleon's colonial possessions, and promote settling in the New World. There was much at stake. And it meant a break with some traditional habits. A fact that wasn't to everyone's liking... About: I tried to achieve a rather dark atmosphere - matching the Lord Chancellor's mood. And I quite like it, given that there's no after editing involved. What else? Well, all-Lego scene means lots of parts involved (13000+), but it's not detailed at all Hmm... maybe one day I'll build a true temple in this style. And last, but not least: Credits for the candleholder-design go to Garmadon C&C welcome Oh, and stay tuned for more! Vive le Roi!
