  1. Hereby my entry for war zone 12. If I should win, I6 should be the next warzone. Unaware of the treaty signed between Ulandus and the High Council to secure food supplies to Ras-el-Akhen, the Desert King's commanders have sent out patrols to secure strategic points in the Inner Loop. This particular patrol has been tasked with looting a grain silo to fill the supply trains for the Desert King Army. Mummy corporal: "The Ulandian troops are holed up in the city trying to hold the gates... They will not have the troops to guard every little silo... This will be a piece of cake!" Mummy soldier: "Those flags, sir... aren't they...?" Mummy corporal: Sure does look like High Council colours... but that makes no sence... What the ....?!? High Council Sergeant: Hands up, you dustbags! SOLDIERS, TO ME! I wouldn't suggest reaching for that weapon, you piece of Desert Scum! Protecting the food supplies by Beorthan, on Flickr The Desert King will not see his supplies bolstered this day. Even facing vastly superior numbers, the High Council will keep up the fight for the Republic and for the people! And without figs. Protecting the food supplies by Beorthan, on Flickr As always, C&C is welcome. Those boardwalks were fun to build, but posing the soldiers on the afterwards was a pain in the #¤#%!
  2. A counter to Marcu's Guerilla. Continued from his build: "But Cedric... There is, arrh, something I forgot to tell you... I suffer from the, Aaaarh, ha-, aaAARrgh, hay-fever! ACHOO!" Overview by Beorthan, on Flickr Moments after the sneeze, the mechanical clanking of the portcullis shutting is heard allover the plaza, and the guards turn towards the spies, apprehending them before they can carry out their sabotage. Apprehension by Beorthan, on Flickr Meanwhile, it seems like Omar Ben Salem has been relieved of some of the weight of his purse... Pickpocket by Beorthan, on Flickr __________________________________________________________ OOC: It was fun to try to reproduce Marcu's build in my own interpretation, and I am pretty happy with the result. I discovered that I had scaled it down a little when I started posing the figs, but I think it worked out fine in the end. C&C is always welcome! For the Republic!
  3. This is a counter to Garmadon's GA Some supporters of the Desert King quickly found out that the Ulandians were giving out free uniforms and weapons and all you had to do was wait in a small line. As soon as they walked away from the Ulandian recruitment center as "new soldier" they stashed their new gear at a wagon, grabbed a new costume and got right back in line. By the end of the day they had a massive stash of new weapons and armor for Desert King troops! This was as good as Halloween! Extra pics: without the wagon The wagon by itself C & C are appreciated Notes: These pictures didn't turn out as good as I expected. Also I really regret using a white horse in this build.
  4. In the Great Loop High Council and Ulandus forces are working together to defend the boardwalk. At one of the boardwalk fortifications a Ulandian soldier and a Leander warrior stand guard, waiting for Desert King forces to show up. However they are unaware that a Desert King agent is already present... After spending all afternoon crawling through the muck to get here, the Nile Croc warrior is finally ready to execute his plan. His is a very talented mimic, and he uses this skill to great effect. The Leander soon hears the "Ulandian" muttering under his breath about how he hated being stuck with an overgrown cat that should be in chains like his leander slave back in Ulandus. The Ulandian thinks he hears the Leander talking to himself about how he would only have to put up with these Ulandian scum until for a little while longer, then he could kill them and rescue his enslaved brethren. Before long the Ulandian and the Leander started fighting each other. After they had both killed each other the Nile Croc crawled out and claimed the tower for the Desert King. Heres a files shot, with the entryway raised( it can be lowered to be used as a ladder, as seen in the fighting picture) C & C appreciated EDIt: Oops those pictures are very small. Its fixed now
  5. One of the many small vendor's shops commonly found in the Amrakect marketplace. However, this shop is a little different from the rest. Its owner is actually an agent of the Desert King. Mixed in with the pile of goods being sold are large amounts of weapons( well, larger than usual). The shop is actually a front used to distribute weapons and armor to citizens loyal to the Desert King inside the city. The vendor gives these weapons to citizens who know the codeword, in preparation for a revolt in the city. Extra pics: Notes: Sorry about the low quality pictures(although I think these are my best late at night ones yet . I may or may not take better ones tomorrow. This is intended to be in the middle of the market somewhere9 since Eryn's original build was just the entrance). The Sandstone post with gold decor is intended to be a marker as to where you are in the market( since I imagine it would be easy to get lost in the are maze of stands and shacks) C and C are always appreciated
  6. The mighty Ulandian army advances into the center of Desert King territory. Although they have quickly constructed an important coastal stronghold, the mummified - and other - followers of the false Desert King stand no chance against the Ulandian host! From the front: A very fun experiment with mirrors! Although I would certainly like to use a mirror with a build again I don't think I'll try two again for a while! Here's a picture of the setup I used, and the build is actually a total of 6x20 studs. Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome! And yes, there should be another Ulandian guerrilla to help mine out pretty soon!
  7. Edit: My first title mistake this challenge! It should be H14. Sorry about that! In a low, musical voice Lady Sarai began her story, looking earnestly into the faces around her. "Once, back in my native village, a new blacksmith set up shop. He was a very generous blacksmith, often shoeing horses and repairing plows for free! Often, he would compare his work to the work of the other blacksmiths in the village, pointing out the cracks in their horseshoes and the dents in the weapons. The other blacksmiths claimed that they were being slandered, but the village didn't believe them. The new guy was just too nice! Not too surprisingly, he soon ran the other blacksmiths out of business. One by one, they left town. Then the new blacksmith came out in his true colors! No more cheap fixes and quick repairs! He suddenly became very punctual about claiming his pay and the prices seemed to rise all the time! Not only that, but the plows he had built started to crack and the horses he had shod cast their shoes. Even the swords and weapons he had made showed their true worth and snapped in battle like pack-thread! The people were furious! The came thundering on the blacksmith's door one windy night. 'You are a cheat and a liar!' one called. 'You have slandered the men that were better than you,' cried another. 'Your work is worthless!' exclaimed a third. But the blacksmith calmly stuck his head out the window. 'All that you say may be true, my friends. But you did not have to believe me. You did not have to come to me for your swords and spears. You did not have to ask me to fix your plows and shoe your horses. You did not have to run the other blacksmiths out of town. But you did. Now what you are left with is your own doing!'" For a second Sarai paused, scanning the upturned faces around her. "My friends, do you know who this blacksmith is? He is the Desert King! He has made himself out to be a wonderful guy, pointing out the cracks and flaws in the others and making himself look generous. But you do not have to believe him! Be wary! Be careful! Otherwise the day will come when you will come knocking at the Desert King's door and he will say to you that it is all your own doing! And you will remember this warning, and your days will be spent in vain regrets that you did not say in time, 'Away with the cheats, away with the liars, away with the false Desert King!'" Stirred to it's depths, the crowd raised it's voice in one mighty shout, "Away with the false Desert King!" The original post ran as follows:
  8. That day everything had gone wrong. It began when our commanders ordered us to get into those nasty little reed boats, though, by the way, they certainly did not get in themselves. Paddling those things around the loop would be enough to drive any sensible mummy insane. However, the worst part by far was when we approached our destination. We were all looking forward to having our feet on dry land again and leaving those detestable crafts floating in the un-namable- thing! But thing just continued on their downward course - as things tend to do when once poorly started - and on nearing the docks we saw that the Ulanders were quite ready for us. We prepared for the fight when they took those horrible pikes they were wielding and started poking holes in our frail boats! The un-nameable thing began to flow rapidly into the craft, and as I leapt back in horror I saw that the boat in front of us was already half submerged while the remaining mummy desperately attempted to bail. I am afraid we were not really in a fit state for a battle. Anyways, the Desert King would certainly not be able to claim the fertile land of the inner loop that day! The mummy doing his best to avoid the water! This build was quite some fun to build! If I win I choose H4 as the next warzone. Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!
  9. The Desert king mummies took it into their heads that handing out money to the civilians would be a good idea... it certainly boosted the recruiting business! many of those who had received the monetary support went off and promptly bought themselves uniforms to sign up for the Ulandian army! Figless: The original and more atmospheric shot My counter to robuko's guerrilla. I hope to revisit the photography part on Monday... though I rather liked the yellow light for this one! This was a very fun little build, I've always wanted to try out these wall and roof techniques (and yes, the roof technique is upside-down! ) Thanks for viewing, C&C are always welcome!
  10. Many of the Kaliphlinians have tired of serving the Desert King, and now come in great numbers to sign up for the Ulandian army, who they found had been far better masters! A closeup shot: Figless (and structure-less as well! ): A guerrilla against the DK from me. Although it is not red on the map, I14 was claimed by the DK for an overwhelming victory - or something like that! Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!
  11. The High Council soldiers had been travelling for a while already on their nifty little movable fortresses, highly hopeful of a successful - and hopefully undisturbed - trip to the sea. However, before long they found out that they had been discovered by a party of Ulanders and made ready for an attack. To their disappointment and dismay, however, they found out too late that they had put it together backwards! They were quickly finished off by the Ulanders. (The way it should have been! ) Here is a picture of the trebuchet by itself (I hope the protruding leg can be called reasonable overhang!) My entry to WZ13, I choose H5 as the next warzone if I win. I would like to receive UoP credit for: History - 1 Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!

    Katoren Gatehouse

This is my first module for my collab with LittleJohn. It was an interesting change to try a middle eastern style gatehouse, and I'm quite pleased with the result. The gates actually work and there's a full interior. Katoren's main gatehouse receives much traffic from vendors, nobles, and visitors heading into the city. Gates closed: There are more pictures here: link C&C welcome, and there's more of Katoren to come
  13. Here we go: Kaliphinite heavy cavalry charges a group of Desert King mummies. Given the hard-packed sand along the Oil Road, the infantry were easily routed by the speed and force of the mounted units. More on Flickr, C&C appreciated!
  14. (POV Amir Navabi) After traveling to the Ulandian Camp outside Petraea, I had been ordered to raid Desert King territory. The Northmen, like the mercenaries they were, refused to raid with us. They had agreed to help the siege of Petraea, nothing more, nothing less. But I was ready to serve my allies. We had found a Desert King Coal mine.....and we intended to destroy it. The Desert King's war machine ran on coal, and needed mines like this. The Desert King might well be able to rouse untold numbers.........but no matter how many soldiers, they needed swords. And swords required fires. Hot fires. After defeating the only warrior among them, I faced him down, but there was something familiar about him.......... "Amir!" He exclaimed. "Brother!" "Aram.....You support the Desert King?" "Indeed, Brother, and loyally so. Like my parents." Then the Lieutenant called out I turned my back- as my brother attempted treachery. I twirled around, and in so doing, cut off my brother's hand. He cried out in pain, and fell, having failed in his treachery. We set fire to the shaft, and within minutes, it would be no more. As the building fell apart. I was ready to leave.....then I heard a sound. I was moaning......my brother's moaning. "What are you doing?" The Lieutenant asked, incredulously. I moved his body away from death, and wrapped his wound. I had honor, where my brother had none. For the Praise of His Glory! ~Andrew
  15. Deep in one of the strongholds of the Southern Dwarves a dwarves alchemist works feverishly on his experiments, mixing various chemicals to create all sorts of unique potions. After hearing that the Ulandian dwarves had created a metallic monstrosity using the souls of the fallen he had set to work to create a very special compound indeed. At last he was successful! "A-ha!" he exclaimed. "I have done it!" He quickly called his superior down to show him his creation. "This compound in my hand is just what we need to stop the metal monster the Ulandians have created! As you know, the Ulandians have utilized the souls of their fallen allies to power their creation. This compound, when splashed on one of their creations will seperate that soul from the physical suit, causing it to become a useless chunk of metal. but the best part is that it also drives the lost soul into a murderous frenzy. As soon as the soul is separated from the suit it takes on a ghostly form, which quickly begins to fade into nothing after a few minutes. But in the meantime the enraged apparition will be fully capable of physical mayhem, and this substance will cause it to forget all memory, loyalty, and thought except a raging desire to destroy! If we can unleash this on their prototypes while they are still inside A Ulandian facility it will create utter chaos! And the best part is, this uses common materials, so we can create a ton of this stuff! The Ulandian creation will be practically useless!" This is a counter to Goliath's GA http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=108398 EDIT: Updated the picture Here's the original picture
  16. HC Solider #1: Boy, these movable fortress things are neat-o! Remind me to give Ameri a big thank you once we reach the coast! #2: I'm with you there! It's the best thing since the wheel... in fact, it has a lot to do with the wheel! No more marching for me. #3: Goodbye, left left right right! Driver: Stop the chatter for a moment recruits. What's that dust cloud over there? #3: Gulp. It might be Desert King soldiers! #1: You're afraid of a bunch of mummies? My Mommy isn't scared of mummies! Driver: Look again, empty heads! #2: Uh-oh! They're Ulanders! Quick, do your transforming thing, driver! Driver: I'm on it! Wait... where's the instruction manual?! #3: Was it this? Sorry, I may have used it to light my pipe. Driver: Grrrrr! Well, get up you...! Help me figure out how to switch this around! #2: Wait. You don't know how this works? Driver: Of course I don't know! #1: They're coming closer! Hurry! Driver: Okay, just throw all the boxes out, quickly now! You two, unhitch the horses. ...Never mind, we can catch them later! Help me attach these! Two... three... lift! #2: Augh! Get off your lazy... help me lift this side already! #3: I can't! I'm supposed to put the leg down! #1: Hurry, I'm going to drop it soon! Driver: Okay, were clear! #3: No! No! We're not clea..owwwwwch! #1: Sorry about that. It was slipping. #2: Hurry! They're almost here! Ulandian Commander: What on earth are they doing?! Ulandian Soldier N.1: Looks like they're trying to build some sort of fortress! N.2: It's pretty cool, actually. N.1: You can have it when we capture it! Commander: Alright boys! Attack! Well, the High Council soldiers weren't quite done putting their fortress up, and certainly weren't ready to fight. So it was no surprise that the Ulanders soon got the better of them, poor things! Overview: Without the base: Just the fortress in moving mode: In upright mode - the necessary changes are minimal: And the Flick-firepult... a High Council experiment! An experiment that actually works, by the way. Link=video! C&C appreciated as always!
  17. As discussed in previous chapters, Nar Bilu discovered a treasure, a legend of which Kaliphlin failed to pursuit. He changed a bunch of mercenaries to a strong courageous army, suitable for his dreams. Will anyone be brave enough to face them? Will Nar be able to rule Hemresa again? Or will his dreams go beyond that... The Heroes: Narbilu, the Lord of the Wingless Serpents Phyton, Mage of the dessert V'nom, commander of scouts and tracker The riders Together with the mage, two giant lizard like creatures joined the army. They are tamed and ready for battle. Nar Bilu ordered to gear them properly for different situations. Spearmen In the front line of Nar Bilu's army are the spearmen, together with the axemen they are the first to sprint into battle. Archers Just behind the front line stand the archers, equiped with crossbows able to pierce thick armour. With goggles to protect their line of sight they are piece of the heart of the army. Scouts Nar Bilu doesn't send his army out to undiscovered area's. A small band of scouts, under the command of V'nom, find trails, scout territory and seek out any obstacles before sending the army in. Swordsmen When the first wave entered the battlefield, the swordsmen make sure the job is finished. With their shields and swords they bash into the fight, shedding blood and terror amongst their opponents. Elites The rage of the swordsmen is assisted by the battle eager elites. They already earned their stripes and are an inspiration to every soldier waving their weapons against the metal of the one they are facing. Together for one cause. Axemen The axemen are always in the front line. Learning, receiving scars and earning the respect to move up the ladder. All dream about the armour of the elites, to become a line in a story or song of the bards. And so the army of Nar Bilu and his Wingless Serpents is formed and grows by the day. Fearless and strong. Army overview...
  18. The High Council's mobile fortresses are slowly but surely making their way across the desert, and pushed right through the Ulandians that tried to stop them. However the Desert King's men know that no matter how well built these wooden fortresses are, there is still one thing that can stop them...Dragon Fire! The Dragon quickly blasts the mobile fortress into splinters and races off to hunt down the remaining fortresses. Desert King troops quickly arrive on the scene to clean up the mess left behind by the dragon. Extra pics: Fire The Desert King troops arrive on the scene The High Council survivors fight desperately to hold of the Desert King troops Notes: This is definately not one of my best builds, but I think it turned out ok. C & C appreciated
  19. Hereby my entry to War Zone 9. If I win I5 is to be the next war zone. WZ 9: The Battle for the Bloody Lane by Beorthan, on Flickr Shortly after having taken position in a small shelter along the important oil road, Sir William Drake finds his unit of heavy infantry attacked by a tribe of Cyclops berserkers supporting Ulandus. "Form a shield wall" Drake barks in a commanding voice. WZ 9: The Battle for the Bloody Lane by Beorthan, on Flickr At the sound of the command, the remainder of the unit, two light infantrymen, rushes from the shelter where they had rested. With the shield wall formed, their bolts will wreak havoc amongst the berserkers, whose savage attack will not stand much of a chance against a well-disciplined unit. WZ 9: The Battle for the Bloody Lane by Beorthan, on Flickr The build sans figs. Nothing too special, but I think it turned out reasonably well. C&C is more than welcome. I must admit 3 war zones with the same deadline is taking it's toll!
  20. My entry to WarZone 13. If I should win, I pick D3 as the next warzone. This was a fun little build, the mobile fort was a little challenging to make but I think it turned out pretty well. Aymeri and his men send some desert king soldiers packing: More pictures can be seen here: Link C&C much appreciated
  21. River Gate The Second Battle of Queenscross (WZ7:E8) For the Desert King! In the seizing of Queenscross, a detachment of Desert King troops is sent to secure the docks along the Arkbri. Near one of the river gates, they quickly overcome a group of High Council soldiers. It is vitally important that trade and travel along the river remain safe, and, in spite of the increasing conflict in the area, the Desert King will do just that. Overall shot:
  22. The Oil Road The Battle for the Bloody Lane(WZ9:G7) For the Desert King! Mummy soldiers have been posted along the Oil Road to ensure the interests of the Desert King are preserved along its winding way. The mummies maintain order, and protect traders along the route from trouble rousers… such as these two Ulandians harassing an elderly merchant on the way to Mophet. “We are hungry and he carries pastries! We will not let some dead rags stop us from taking what we want! Aaarrgh!” The first Ulandian charges towards the mummy soldiers whilst the second was preparing to slink away. Hearing his comrade’s cry (and his own grumbling stomach), spurns him to action as well. Snick The first Ulandian’s head is sliced cleanly from his body, and the remaining soldier drops his spear. “I surrender – the Desert King is the best king ever! Please don’t hurt me! I’ll be good!” And here's just the road:
  23. My entry - should I win, D3 is to be the next war zone. WZ 13: Katoren Breakout by Beorthan, on Flickr When ordered to prepare for the breakout from Katoren, a brilliant young naval engineer from the University of Mpya Stedor, presently studying under master engineer Sergio Jarrett, set to work on a speciel mobile fortress. As is clear from the finished design, it is it shares many features with the light, manouverable biremes of the Kaliphlinite navies. This "Ship of the Desert" has now been on the move for hours, and is presently pushing before it a unit of Ulandian legionnaires, who are powerless against the strong sides of the ship and the favourable position of its crew. WZ 13: Katoren Breakout by Beorthan, on Flickr Manned by a group of heavy infantry armed with pikes, spears, and crossbows, and commanded by a Katoren noble, it poses a strong offensive force. WZ 13: Katoren Breakout by Beorthan, on Flickr Powered by two oxen, it can keep up a steady pace similiar to an army on the march. With the wind aft, a sail can be unfurled to provide additional boost to relieve the oxen. WZ 13: Katoren Breakout by Beorthan, on Flickr And the underside. C&C appreciated - this was a fun build, and I think I will definitely be building some REAL ships in the future.
  24. Just look at their eyes. Which one looks like he's seeing a mirage to you? As it turns out, the spot was so good that it became a common rendezvous for the Ulandian big-wigs! C&C welcome!
  25. Title says all! Really, there wasn't much else that could be done to counter this! And a dogless shot. Comments are welcome, if you're interested in making one on such a tiny thing, . Thanks for viewing!
