  1. Infernum

    MAC: Bo'durr Tower

After the Hand's defeat at the Proudrock Fortress Sir Infernum decided to surprise Sir Glorfindel (bribary? ). He hired skilled workmen and Dwarves to begin work on one of the first towers built by Glorfindel's ancestors. It had been well kept for years until the Hand damaged it. By the time Infernum and his men arrived to help with the repairs the workmen had already patched the damaged sections with wood. Tada! This is probably my best (and biggest) build yet! The top. Middle Bottom of the tower. The warriors of Arcium arrive! Really like this section. Didn't notice the top of that mushroom in the bottom corner. The lift raises and lowers! Hurray for playablility! I think I invented the flower-snow patches technique. The man is sweeping snow on the top of the tower. The whole MOC. Love the river section so much. Last shot of the contractor guy, Infernum, and the warriors of Arcium. Well, I got it in on time! Love how this turned out! The tower is super big, probably about minifig scale. I think it's my best yet, and I had tons of fun building it. I really like the river and bridge, reminds me of one of SoT's builds. That's all folks! Oh, and my dream is to find olive cheese slopes in a P-a-B wall, love using them in MOCs as you can see here. . That's REALLY all folks.
  2. Captain Settle

    Village House

I'm currently awaiting a Bricklink order, so to pass the time I made this quick house. This house was mostly made to prove you can build a house using mostly 1x1 round plates. Front: Side: Back: Side: Thanks for looking, any C&C welcome.
  3. This is a freebuild by me and my brother Erikur! "Red it riseth, after raging battle, the Sun up high in heaven's dome, the eye of the One-Eyed earl of gods, whose sheen shineth, the shield blazing, on Middangeard, home of men. The hosts of the Hand, most hateful evil, the lands in shade and shadow cloaked, freedom's unfriend with fingers groping. The Wyrm-clan wended war to wage against the gruesome ghoulish fiends. To corrupted castle the clan of bravest housecarls and haleths headed was, with stratagem clever the warriors stoutly came into the castle and clashed with its guards. For the burg they battled, their brands like flashes of lightning lashed, lives they ended. Arngrim the foe of fiends undead and Sigolf the Bane of Brími the dragon brothers in battle the blood avenged of Sigmund their father, of kings most famed. They thwarted the thegns, with thorns of steel, they killed the corrupted crusaders of terror, the necromancer of nameless horror and his vassals the vanguards of doom." Thus sang of their deeds in years untold the skalds in all Mitgardia, and their heroic legacy was never forgotten.
  4. After the fall of Victor Revolword and the Hand of Corruption, it is time for rebuild. Valholl suffered great damage during the war, so there is much to be done. The Hall of Commerce was basically destroyed to the ground, so a completely new building has to be built. The whole population of Valholl takes part of the construction. For lifting heavy stone parts, a giant wheel was built. A strong volunteer (or who lost a bet last night in the Inn) has to pull the stone pieces up, using a wooden frame and a pulley. The kiln is for making roof-tiles. The raw tiles are put inside the kiln at the side. A lady in the background is making a fine job on the new window! The roof is built bit by bit, row to row. A new piece is just being pulled up by a smaller pulley. But who is down there? Lasvor is here to help! He is not a building expert, but even he can lift some wooden boards. The arches of the windows are built using wooden supporting. They hold the structure until the whole arch is ready. After it, the wood is removed and the arch should hold. Those dwarfs are good at what they are doing, the other arch behind him is holding for days! The stone ornaments are made by a handy stonemason. The stone floor is almost ready, nice job Red! The minifigs, who accomplished this tremendous job: Acknowledgements: I would like to thank for the Guédelon project for their unintentional help. I came across them while searching for suitable images about medieval building construction. Their photos helped me a lot by learning the phases of a construction, what side-works are necessary, etc.. .
  5. Infernum

    Rascliff Castle

We journeyed back to Rascliff Castle, a powerful and ancient Mitgardian safehaven. Here we will be able to regroup out of the reach of the Hand of Corruption. - Sir Infernum I love how this turned out, my biggest MOC yet! Lowest level. Crossbowing battlement! Manned by a warrior of Rascliff castle. Another battlement, with an Arcium Archer. I love the doors! Inspired by SK and SoT! There's a third battlement type thing. Rascliff Castle harbors hundreds of Mitgardians every day. This is a ranger who is staying at the castle. I love this window technique! Not sure who invented it. Tower segment. So you can see the floors. There's a full interior! It's also modular! Sir Infernum and his second in command talking to the lord of Rascliff Castle. This storage room is full of barrels of purified water, as well as drinking glasses, in case of siege. The blacksmith's room. Barrels of arrows, a chest of weapons, a table for an ornate blade, and a great sword mounted to the wall. I love the technique to attach the sword. Bunk bed! A... room... The great hall on the bottom floor. Who's that woman? To be revealed... Platform for archers. That's all! I love how this MOC turned out! I think it's my best MOC by a lot! Hope you like it!
  6. Legonardo

    The Flight of the dragons

Part 6 The word has gotten out. Aid is on its way to cornovaria, from all across the great western grasslands. The flight of the dragons is one of Avalonias newest navy ships, a small carrack. though small and unable to carry things such as siege weaponry, Its fast and agile, and as a troop carrier it does the job well. Legonardo and de Gothia are taking it for its Maiden Voyage. part 1 part 2 part 3 part 4 part 5
  7. Ok, I've finally finished what is probably my first totally unprovoked freebuild for GoH: An ancient viking game, Hnefatal (pronounced Nefatal), or King's Table has been played in Mitgardia for centuries. On his visit, Lord DaMaximus played Uridius Dratiphe a few times in the guild room (The other two walls of the room have the other Guild flags, or at least they would if they existed ). The game is similar to chess, the Red wins if it surrounds the king (the bigger piece) on all four sides (you can not move diagonally), and the Black wins if the King can get to one of the white squares on the corners of the board. The Game set-up. Playing around ! C&C are welcome!
  8. Legonardo

    Morias' Mill

Part 2 The two depart the rotting graveyard to Morias' Mill, once the home of a prosperous malt grinder, but he and his family are no longer here.... Head of the Garrison: here is safe Assassin: I thought this place was run by Morias and his family? Head of the Garrison: Indeed it was, quite the place, either way they are gone. Assassin: Ah yes. people are disappearing in the night. that is why we are here is it not? Head of the Garrison: indeed. Assassin: one might notice that the possessions of many are disappearing with the owners, but to where and why? Head of the Garrison: its quite the mystery to me. Assassin: call in the AAG, they're sure to get this fixed. Head of the Garrison: They shall i've no doubt. but first I shall send a message to Antorious. Assassin: he'll send half of Avalonia to Cornovaria I'm sure. Head of the Garrison: what he does is up to him. hes brought us out of dark times before you know the assassin said nothing. part 1 part 3 part 4 part 5
  9. Nightstalker

    Rakath Camp

Almost 4 miles from our last encounter, we found the camp. Lukan and I were surprised to find orcs up here, but it was only a group of four of them. While Lukan decided to take another route into the camp, I once more found myself diving head first into battle. Despite the orcs being well equipped, they never saw it coming. With the orc bandits now slain, we'll probably gather their loot and make for Qarkyr shortly... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Overall MOC Djun's POV I experimented with a new technique for an arcane "push", I rather like how it turned out Hope you all enjoyed the MOC WIth any luck, I should be out of these mountains with a small amount of coin. I hope I can leave it with someone in Qarkyr; if not, then I'll have to trek through the land and make for Mpya Stedor once more. I'm pretty sure they could use the coin. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With any luck, I'll be building some more GoH MOC's soon. I find myself busy working on another project which should be 1/3 complete by next week. Anyways... As usual C&C is always welcome and appreciated!!!
  10. Infernum

    Hunted

I was captured at our encounter with the Hand of Corruption at the ruins of Mythros... Luckily for me my second-in-command was as sharp as ever. He rescued me from the Hand and gave me a sword. Together we ran towards the rest of our troops, followed by Hand Beserkers. Luckily around two thirds of our troops escaped. -Sir Infernum I think this is my best build yet! I think the path, vegetation, and landscaping all turned out well. Hope you like it!
  11. *Outside Marecroft Manor* *From a rocky ledge, Legonardo Davidy calls down to his old friend, Trian Burress who has been summed to Marcroft for a secret meeting.* Legonardo: General Burress, I am pleased the Green Riders were able to reach you. I heard the road to Asca Duin was overrun with Hand soldiers. Trian Burress: The road is certainly not safe, but the Green Riders are the best messengers in the land. I was surprised to be summoned here, to Marecroft Manor. I thought only Albion was safe for the elemental terror. *Burress climbs the steps to greet his friend* Legonardo: Yes, old friend, only Albion has withstood the Elemental attack, but spies from the Hand of Corruption have penetrated even the Pearl City’s cloak. Despair has set in everywhere. I have heard rumors of civil war in Kalphlin, Drow activity in Nocturnus and a Hand presence in the mountains of Mitgardia. Everyone is on edge. Trian Burress: I have heard whispers. There have been rumors of a plot from within Mitgardia to claim the throne of Historica as their own if the Usurper is defeated. Legonardo: Yes General Burress, the overthrow of the Usurper could leave a void in power that may plunge our lands into chaos, but the rule of Revolword, his elemental monsters and the Hand of Corruption must be undone. Though I do not know what lies on the other side of the Usurpur’s defeat, only a united Historica can hope to defeat the Usurper. Trian Burress: You’ve grown quite wise since last we spoke my friend. Tell me now, why have I been summoned here? Legonardo: I’ll let Lord Rex tell you himself, the others are already inside. *Inside Marecroft’s meeting room* Artorious Rex: I see Lord Flagg, Lord Sslither and Jarl Nibelung have brought their own protection- do we really trust each other so little? Dextrus Flagg: And Legonardo and General Burress are here for our own comfort? Dear friend, I find your hypocrisy amusing. Jarl Nibelung: Enough! Both of you are letting Revolword get the better. If we cannot trust each other or our finest generals, then who can we trust? Elemental monsters continue to ravage the country side and the Hand of Corruption turns even our most loyal servants upon their own guilds. Lord Sslither: What news issss thissss that comesss from the North? My spiessss sssssay the North hasn’t been hit as hard as the Easssst. I have heard your forcessss are twi-hissss those of Nocturnusss. Jarl Nibelung: Be careful Snake. I have been told the Drow run freely over your lands and the Hand of Corruption has already pierced your inner circle. Taking Nocturnus wouldn’t even be a challenge for Mitgardia! Lord Sslither: So you admit you still possesssss strength Bear? Confessss! Elon Chorian: If we do have strength, you should pray we use it as a shield and not a sword. We will need it all to take the Usurpur. *Room erupts into shouting and accusations* Dextrus Flagg: Enough! If we are done beating our chests, and lying about our strength, let us admit that none of us have the men to conquer Revolword alone! Erudhalion Sansael: Our spies would not disagree m’Lord. Mitgardia’s strength is as depleted as our own. Only Abyssian, Patrea, Albion and Valholl remain standing. We lose hundreds of soldiers defending those walls every day, and the forces in exile are not nearly strong enough to defeat the elemental monsters, even with the strength of the elemental mages. Dextrus Flagg: Yes, we can not hold out hope for a miracle savior, it falls upon us to unite and destroy the Usurper. Artorious Rex: But how can we hope to strike out from a place of strength? The noose tightens every minute, and we are spending our time here instead of defending our people. A full assault on the Usurpur’s castle would be nearly impossible! Lord Sslither Not but two daysss ago I fell into dissspair. I thought, “We have held this uneassssy peace long enough. Perhaps defending Abyssssian is all that is left for Nocturnussss. What can we hope to do againsssst such a powerful enemy?” But- then General Grimm came to me and reported Nocturnian spiesss have located an entrancesss to the High King’s palacessss. The Usssssurper cariesss the Elemental Helm with him at all timessss, but if we could destroy the Helm, perhapsss we could turn the tidesss and not all would be lossst. General Grimm: If we can distract the Usurper long enough, perhaps a small raiding party could slip in and destroy the Helm and end the elemental threat. *It occurs that the plan could work, and each guild leader quickly realizes the advantage to capturing the throne room. Before anyone else can speak, Artorius speaks up* Artorious Rex: And I suppose Nocturnus volunteers to enter the city and storm the High King’s throne room while the rest of us die at the hands of Revolword’s elemental monsters! Lord Sslither: We are, shall we say, well equipped to sssslide through the shadowsss and destroy the Helm. Artorious Rex: And I suppose we can trust a viper like you to vacate the throne as soon as you have sunk your fangs into Revolword? General Grimm: Silence pup, you are no worthy of addressing Lord Ssilyrrlith with such disrespect. Artorious Rex: Pup? You insult Avalonia’s Lord? Do you consider yourself more than you’re Snake Lord’s mongrel pet wolf boy? Avalonia will not act as Nocturnus’s shield in this fight! Elon Chorian: And so we are to believe Artorious would not place the crown on his head if he entered the thrown room as conquering victor? We could expect such restraint from the Dragon? From the one who already calls himself “Rex”? The one who already thinks he is the divine King? The mountain men refuse to allow the Avalonians anywhere near the crown. Rex and his mutt Sir Buress have long worn on my nerves. I would die before allowing the Dragon anywhere near the throne. Mitgardia should have this honor. Erudhalion Sansael: And why should Kalphlin be so easily dismissed? Do we not have the greatest watchtowers and longest spears? Are we not the Lions of Historica? Kalphlin would rather see the Snake on the throne than the Bear! Dextrus Flagg: SILENCE ALL OF YOU! It is clear our tender peace is reaching its end. *A stranger strolls through the entrance with a companion* Rego Amancio: Perhaps if you don’t trust each other, you would consider putting your faith in a perfect stranger! Artorious Rex: Who are you? Dextrus Flagg: This is Rego Amencio, leader of Varlyrio, the fifth guild of Historica. Lord Sslither: *turns to Artorious* You would bring thisss stranger in to our circle and trusssst him to be true to hissss word? Artorious Rex: I would trust a stranger as much as I would trust the Lion, Snake or Bear! But I did not call for his counsel. If he knew about this meeting- then perhaps we have a traitor in out midst! Rego Amancio: Varlyrio has just as many spies as the guilds of Historica. Our island has yet to feel the wrath of the elemental terror, but we know the Usurper’s lust will never be fully fed. It is only time that separates our fate from all of Historica’s! Dextrus Flagg: Varlyrio has long been allied with the Dragon and the Bear, which one of you toads brought this slime to our secret meeting place? Lord Sslither: We should cut them down now before they have the chancesss to do the same to ussss! Rego Amancio: I should cut out your serpent tongue Snake! Trian Burress: Enough! We can not fight each other and survive the elemental storm, and it is equally clear we do not trust each other to enter the throne room alone. The only solution is to form a party made from all five guilds to storm the keep and destroy the Helm. Erudhalion Sansael: And I suppose you volunteer yourself dog? Trian Buress: I will do as my Lord commands. Artorious Rex: And so I command. I will send Sir Burress to do this task. Who will represent the other guilds in this quest? Dextrus Flagg: I send Erudhalion Sansael. Lord Sslither: I sssend General Grimm. Jarl Nibelung: I send Lord Elron Chorian. Rego Amancio: I send Duke Vennicio. Artorious Rex: Then it is decided, these five men will take the passage to Revolword’s throne room to destroy the Helm while the rest of us rally all our troops to storm the walls against the elemental monsters and the Hand of Corruption! In three days time, the assault shall begin. *Outside Marecraft Manor* Artorious Rex: Though I fear the other guilds intentions are less than honorable, the elemental threat must end. I have sent the Green Riders to assemble all of Avalonia’s greatest heroes, for the assault. Legonardo here with me at Marecraft Manor- Lord Arlindus at the Forest Watchtower of Circardia- de Gothia watching the forges near the Kalphlin border And, Zakon Goldblade… I am sure you could guess where he can be found! (my sincere apologies to rogueang who's "hero habitat" was not completed in time). Trian Burress: Yes m’Lord, we must rally everyone to ensure Victor does not suspect the assault on the throne room. *Three days later, the assault of Cedrica begins. Though Mitgardia, Avalonia, Nocturnus and Kalphlin appear in full force, the Valyrians are missing. The Hand is backed in full force by Elemental Monsters, including a fierce fire Elemental and stinging wind Elemental. *As the Hand and Victor’s Elemental monsters defend the walls, the Guild’s raiding party reaches Victor’s throne room* Elon Chorian: It’s a miracle your Snake Lord even keeps you around mongrel. I didn’t see you slay a single enemy on our way to the throne. I thought the Nocturnians were great warriors! Maybe we should have allied with the Drow against your weak lands when we had the chance. It’s bad enough that the Dragon’s old dog is slowing us down, but to have dead weight like you is intolerable. General Grimm: Bite your tongue ice grandpa, we’re here to destroy the Helm, not recount our kills. Elon Chorian: Spoken like the sniveling weevil you are! Erudhalion Sansael: Quiet, both of you. We are nearing the throne room. General Grimm: I’ve caught a scent. It is Rellik and his elite guards. They are close at hand. Elon Chorian: Finally, a use for the Snake’s pet! The nose always knows! Trian Burress: No doubt it will take all of us to dispose of Rellik and his guards and battle Revolword. No rogues here, we must work together to finish this fight. Duke Vennicio: Varlyrio will not share this glory with you lowly peasant, to victory! *Vennicio charges the Hand guards* Elon Chorian: There goes our opportunity to surprise them. Trian Burress: Quickly before Duke Vennicio gets his head returned to Varlyrio in a box! *The heroes charge Rellik and his troops* *Battle ensues. Rellik is captured* Rellik Nam: And so the guilds have finally realized only their allied strength have any chance to take down Lord Revolword. I doubt it will do you much good. The Hand of Corruption lurks deeper than you can imagine. We have loyal members within your own ranks at every level and in every city! I have looked in your eyes, and I can see the lust for power has already corrupted a soul in your very group! This alliance doesn’t stand a chance, one will betray you all. Duke Vennicio: Silence slime! We can not listen to this beast or he will corrupt us. We must cut out his foul tongue before he poisons us against each other! *Grimm cleaves Rellik’s head from his body* Elon Chorian: So quick to finish the job Grimm? Perhaps you are the soul in need of cleansing? General Grimm: Nonsense, Duke Vennicio was right, we could not allow Rellik to speak our names and corrupt us. It had to be done. Erudhalion Sansael: And the wolf has finally registered a kill. On a defenseless man no less. Elon is right, you were too quick to silence the corruptor! Trian Burress: Perhaps we should take the Usurper before we blame Grimm for the collapse of Historica! Elon Chorian: And now the Dragon’s pet asks us to ignore Rellik’s warning? Perhaps you too have your eye on the Throne Sir Burress. Duke Vennicio: Again we argue when action is needed- for the glory! To the Usurper! *Vennicio charges through the doors to the throne* Victor Revolword: And so the Guilds of Historica have come to meet their doom! Guards, dispatch these slime! *The heros pounce into action and destroy the slimey Hand soldiers* Victor Revolword: Oh- the conquering heroes unite- *Duke Vennicio stabs Revolword and Valyrian guards enter the throne room* Duke Vennicio: My first act of benevolence as your new king shall be to spare you all from the ramblings of a crazy old man! Elon Chorian: King? I don’t see a crown on your head! King Venniccio: Who needs a crown when I have the Elemental Helm! And now the Bear, Snake, Lion and Dragon will bow before the new king! King of the seas, and now king of your lands. With the Helm- Varlyrio shall pilot our vessels to take what should be ours! In fact, our storm troopers should be arriving at Historica’s doorstep now! Too long have we toiled on our island alone, too long have we been forgotten and ignored. We strike first at Nocturnus! I command all elementals to cover our withdrawal from Cerdica as we forge onto Nocturnus where today we shall claim the darklands as our own, and tomorrow, all of Historica! General Grimm: Nocturnus will resist! King Vennicio: I welcome your attempts, but we shall swat you down like flies on the rear of an megablocks! Guards, dispatch of these swine while I move our new army into position! *The Valyrian guards back the heroes into a corner* Trian Burress: Vennicio, you slimy sea serpent! Hand over the Helm and justice shall be swift! King Vennicio: It appears I have the upper hand dog. Kill them all! *The four guild leaders back up the four heroes* Artorious Rex: It seems the odds have been evened Eel. Prepare to feel the might of a united Historica! *Fighting ensues and Vennicio is captured.* King Vennicio: Even if you defeat me here, the Hand of Corruption rips your guilds from within. This peace won’t last a week! Jealousy, greed, resentment… Your guilds will be plunged into chaos! My troops have already reached Nocturnus. You know the garrisons there will fall! There is no victory for the guilds today! *Vennicio reaches for a dagger and Dextrus Flagg cuts him down while Burress retrieves the Helm and shatters it with the Golden Axe* General Grimm: No! Nocturnus needed that Helm to repel the Varlyrian invaders! You’ve doomed Nocturnus, if not from the sea people, than from the Drow. Curses Avalonian swine! Elon Chorian: Sir Burress has only done what we sought to do. Destroy the Helm and end the elemental threat. Lord Sslither: Yesss Elon, Burresss has completed the quest, but at what cossst? I assssume Avalonia will send its revered Flight of Dragonssss to repel the Valyrian invadersss! Artorious Rex: Avalonia has its own rebuilding to do Snake. I would not send a single soul to your lands until ours are secure. Trian Burress: M’lord, Nocturnus will need our assistance. We can not allow Varlyrio, the Hand of Corruption or the Drow conquer their lands. We must send them aid. Artorious Rex: My command is to withdraw to the Pearl City. Any bannermen that follows you on this quest are on their own. Trian Burress: I would rather be an outcast than a coward. Mesodraconem will help the Nocturnians! Artorious Rex: If you ever return to Avalonia, be sure to knock first as it is no longer your home. Jarl Nibelung: Enough, the Hand of Corruption retreats. The city is ours! Let us not bicker but rejoice in this great victory! Dextrus Flagg: Rejoice? There is too much to be done to rejoice. We must find the King and purge the Hand of Corruption from our lands! Jarl Nibelung: And if the King can not be found? What then? Who will protect the crown until the King can be found? Artorious Rex: The question seems easy enough! Whoever holds the most Gold Deracis should hold the crown until the King returns. Let us have a final accounting of the riches we have assembled, and the leading guild shall hold control of the crown until the King can be found! *The End… or is it?* Historica- Chapter 2- Civil War! Avalonians- you have a choice! Do you assist General Burress in Nocturnus and risk exile? Or do you rebuild your homes in Avalonia under the rule of the Artorious’ newly named protector? Artorious has ventured into the Dark Isles to seek out a new power to help lead Avalonia into its Golden Age. Choose your side, Avalonia, or as Artorious calls Sir Burress and those who seek to help the Nocturnians, “Evilonia”. Noctunians- you also have a choice. Your lands and homes are in shambles. Do you seek refuge in another guild? Do you accept the rule of the Varlyrians? Or do you stay and fight along side your Avalonian allies? The Drow, Valyrians and Hand of Corruption have already formed an alliance calling themselves the “Black Spire”. The alliance welcomes any who will renounce Sslither and Historica. Choose your side, Black Spire or Nocturnus! Mitgardians- It was rumored your guild was spared from most of the Elemental assault, but shortly after Revolword’s defeat, an earthquake rattled the mountains, causing avalanches and rock slides to swallow entire settlements. What’s worse, it has become known that the Hand of Corruption is amassing an army behind the rockslides deep inside the Mitgardian mountains. The Jarl has served you well as leader, but perhaps the chaos gives you an opportunity to seek new power. Will you join the Jarl as he seeks out the Hand in the mountains, or put in a bid to replace him? Choose your side, Mitgardia or your own splinter band, seeking to replace the Jarl. Kalphlings- Dextrus Flagg has said even if the final accounting reveals Kalphlin to hold the most gold, he will lay no claim to the throne. Some believe he is no longer fit to rule. What’s more, a new power has sprung up in the desert, taking corporal form. While still weak from his awaking, the new King of the Desert (who many believe is a reincarnation of the High King) calls all Kalphlings feed up with Flagg’s leadership to drink the blood of the Desert Kings and claim their rightful place as Lords of Badlands. Will you remain loyal to Kalphlin’s government, or will you find new religion in the desert? Choose your side, Kalphlin, or the Desert Kings! Valyrians- What happened? The forces that invaded Nocturnus do not include Rego Amancio. There are whispers Rego was betrayed by Vennicio and did not know of his plot to invade Nocturnus. The rest of Historica has heard nothing from the spies it sent to Valyrio. What is going on at the island? Is it embroiled in its own civil war? Or does the engine of war create new Valyrian storm troopers every day? Tell the story or what is happening in Valyrio, or join the Black Spire in the fight against Nocturnus.
  12. As many of you History fans are aware, I have been actively promoting the Guilds of Historica, Eurobrick's exciting subforum. Right now is a great time to join a guild as the main challenged have wrapped up and we are looking into opening a second chapter of the land. A large part of this little poll/survey is to find out why people haven’t already joined the fun to see if there are changes we could make in GoH to bring more people into the world. Feel free to both vote in the poll (with my somewhat facetious choices) and voice your opinion here. For those of you who are not aware, the Guilds of Historica is a MOCing (and role-playing) paradise where EB members can tell stories and build MOCs for their chosen guild. What are these guilds? There is Mitgardia in the arctic north, filled with many great building role-models. Mitgardia has strong Norse influences and of course, builds many a MOC in the snow. The Mitgardians are often signified as strong, proud, and solitary folk represented well by the great bear, their guild colors are yellow and green. For those of you who like Game of Thrones, think of Winterfel and the Starks or maybe a great Dwarven realm from Lord of the Rings. Then there is Kaliphlin in the diverse, but largely arid south. Those who like to build MOCs in the desert with Middle Eastern or ancient Egyptian influences will be right at home. Kaliphlins are nomads, storytellers and traders by nature, traveling between city states peddling their wares and a story or two. Kaliphlin is often represented by the Lion, their colors are dark blue and red. For those of you who like Game of Thrones, think about the free cities beyond the Narrow Sea, or other cities in Essos such as Qarth. Don't forget about Nocturnus, in the eastern darklands. Nocturnus is a land full of wonder and has a vast array of wonderful creatures. Orks, cyclopes, minotaurs, and creatures and monsters of every sort can be found in the darklands. Sometimes misconstrued as “evil”, the Nocturnians seem fairly xenophobic and usually take great pride in keeping the other guilds out of their lands. Sometimes represented by a serpent, the Guild’s colors are red and gold. For Lord of the Rings fanboys, think Mordor with even more strange creatures! And for those of you who like the more "classic" castle land, then the western paradise, Avalonia, is the guild for you. Separated into three distinct areas, the plains, great forest and mystic isles, Avalonia is a lush paradise filled with tudor castles and green fields. Some of the guilds, who are jealous of Avalonia's beauty and success, call the Avalonians "treehuggers", but the Avalonians are great warriors and architects. Avalonia’s colors are sand green and dark green, their sigil is the dragon. Lord of the Rings fans might see this land as very Rohan-esque, though you’ll also find some Rinvendell like Elvish settlements as well. Though currently not open for membership, the land posses a fifth guild, developed during the course of the project, Varlyrio. With a sea fairing culture and Mediterranean influences, Varlyrio is still largely unknown to the other guilds and the island nation may become very important in the developing story. Varlyrio has no official sigil (yet), but its colors and gold and white.

The three talked long about the matter, latter that evening, Rex went to a desk and issued an order to all the provinces of Avalonia. Rex's Decree: All soldiers needed to protect and rebuild the damage by Revolword shall stay, but not a man more. 16. Challenge VI: A Song of Orcs and Fire Chapter I. Along the Arkbri River The Arkbri River flows through central Historica, from Mitgardia all the way down to Barqa in Kaliphlin. It is navigable along most of its course which makes it an important trade route. Despite the war, the traffic is lively along the river. A war party led by Sir Gideon and the avalonian Sir Derrik of Groenby is rushing to Queenscross further upstream. Sir Derrik and his men are survivors of the terrible sacking of Groenby by the Hand of Corruption. Some brave traders are still transporting their goods along the river. This particular river boat is loaded with food supplies for the army gathering in Queenscross, as some Barqa trader obvious has seen an excellent business opportunity to sell food at ridiculous prices as the destruction had left the city with precious little food to supply the forces making their stand against Victor's forces. Responding to the call to arms to Queenscross, Sir Gideon and his band of warriors are travelling up from Barqa along the towpath on the north side of the Arkbri river. It is however not safe to travel these days, as there have been encounters with orcs on this side of the river. Several of Sir Derrik’s men were killed by a raiding party, as well as the horse of Gideon’s squire. Fortunately nothing seems to dampen the spirit of this young lad, eager to earn glory on the battlefield. Meanwhile, refugees from the death and destruction further upstream are struggling in the heat in the opposite direction, not really towards anything but just desperately getting away from the slaughter. Right now they have been forced to take a break to let the oxen pulling the boat and the soldiers pass. Chapter II. After the Battle of Queenscross Many of those marching to Queenscross with Sir Gideon would later fall in the battle there, as told in the report of the battle by Paulos MacLean. Among the casualties were Gideon's old friend and comrade-in-arms Sir Derrik of Groenby and Sir Gideon’s squire, too brave for his own good. A few of those who have responded to the call to arms however showed up in Queenscross too late to join the battle. Surprisingly, some turned out to be acquaintances of Gideon. One of these is the scoundrel and former sailor Roger Farstrider, who had been expected to arrive with Gideon but somehow found himself delayed by some unclear reason, sounds like he found yet another excuse to save his skin when the odds looked bleak. But of course he wasn't more delayed than that he arrived in time to take part in some unsanctioned plunder of the fallen foes. Many are angry at him for avoiding the battle, where Roger’s deadly crossbow skills would have been sorely needed at times. At the side of a war-torn garden patch he is now doing what he likes best, taking a break from things and sharpening his enormous dagger. Not far after Roger, another man arrived along the same road. This was Lutalo, a dark and muscular proud warrior from one of the islands in the southern sea. Of some kind of noble birth after their fashion, he was exiled from his island many years ago never to return. He found refuge in the tolerant Kaliphlin society, and has fought for Gideon on more than one occasion. Arriving soaked in sweat after running for many miles, he is cursing long and loudly in his incomprehensible tongue for not making it in time to the glorious battle. On a street in the war-torn city, Gideon is bleeding from a dozen wounds and still shivering from nearly drowning when he fell into the river during the battle. The only thing that was between Gideon and certain death had been one of the mermaids aiding in the fight against the Hand of Corruption. Gideon is mourning the losses of both his old friend and his young protégé at the hands of the Cyclops. Suddenly an unexpected figure shows up. A female battlemage of the Khel'Zarim, truly a rare sight. Clad in crimson and with a grim looking and scarred face, there is however something familiar with this hard woman. Gideon (in pain and annoyed by the disturbance): What do you want? Wait...do I know you? There is something familiar about you? Battlemage: Gideon the half-elf isn't it? I'm Aidana, and the last time you saw me I was a young girl in the company of Sohail, father of that dishonest merchant Emad who I know you still have dealings with. Gideon: Look at you! Now I remember, but you certainly don't look like when we last met all those years ago! Aidana: I've seen more of the world, and know much of mysteries you haven't even heard about. And it's not only you steel-warriors who have to go through fighting and hardship. Gideon: Certainly not! Your order's reputation precedes you. But what brings you here? Aidana: As you can see, I was recruited by the Khel'Zarim who recognized my talent for more than just the small tricks I did to amuse Soheil's guests. They brought me to their seat at castle Zar, deep inside the jagged foothills of the Rakath Mountains, where the base of the Khel'Zarim have been for centuries. From there, we have strived to expand our knowledge of magic and also control and restrict its use throughout Historica. My wing of the Khel'Zarim is as you know called the battlemagi and our role has been to be the sword and shield of the order. Our goal is to seek out rogue wizards and other magical anomalies, wherever they may be. We do this both for the protection of Historica and for our own interest, since there is so much to learn of the mysteries of magic that the inward-looking graybeard scholars in the towers of Zar simply can't even imagine. The battlemagi’s main weapon has been elemental magic, but proficiency with cold steel is also an important part of our training. Most of our order, including myself, have focused our studies on fire magic. Indeed, some even claim that our order is a cult of fire, and if you have ever seen the eternal fire pits and stained glass windows in the great hall of castle Zar you can't be blamed for thinking that of us. Never numerous, the hard fight against the elementals throughout Historica has spread the Khel'Zarim battlemagi forces thin and caused heavy casualties among our ranks. Our castle was of course one of the primary targets of Victor's elemental mayhem, and countless elementals of all kinds put us under relentless attack. In order to defend the castle, the few of us who remained there had to resort to an extreme measure. We gathered the last of our strength and thanks to our deep understanding of elemental magic, we succeeded in creating an expanding anti-magic field around our castle which instantly dissipated the elementals just before they breached our castle walls. So far, the story sounds like a story of success to you, doesn't it? Gideon: Yes, but you don't seem to be too happy about it? Aidana: Indeed not. Now on to the dire news. Unfortunately, the anti-magic field also left us powerless and our spells useless. Only the eternal fire pits in the great hall, fuelled with deeper and more ancient magic, were spared the dimming of our magical power. Before the field had dissipated, we heard increasingly loud scratching noises which seemed to come from one of the walls. Suddenly holes started to appear in the courtyard at the base of the wall and out of the ground orcs started to emerge. Victor's plan had clearly been more cunning than we had expected, while we were busy fighting monstrous elementals a force of orcs had snuck in right under our noses and undisturbed dug their way in. My brethren fought valiantly, but many of the outnumbered and powerless battlemagi were slain by the invaders before we took the hard decision to abandon our castle. This leads me to where we are now. After the fall of Zar, me and my remaining brethren decided to split up and seek out the places where our skills were most needed. Hearing about the threat to Queenscross, I rushed here but didn't arrive in time. Fortunately, it seems that no sizeable elemental force were part of the enemy armies here so you and all the other brave warriors managed to hold here anyway. Gideon: Yes, but at a terrible cost. But you seem to have more to tell me? Aidana: Yes. Seeing that the enemy has been thwarted here, I am trying to gather a force to take back castle Zar. I know that you don't have many men left after the battle, but could I hope for your help in this endeavor? Gideon: Pah! As if a small band like us would be able to take a castle like that all by ourselves! Aidana: Yes. If the castle is poorly manned and you know how to get in without notice. After sacking much of the castle I saw most of the restless orcs continue on to new opportunities of plunder. Gideon: Aha! Now your plan suddenly sounds less unrealistic. But why the urgency? Shouldn't there be other more pressing matters for our steel and your fire, like taking back Cedrica or even going after those cursed Cyclops?! Aidana: There is surely much to be done, but I'm prepared to do whatever it takes to reclaim our castle without delay. I have reason to believe that the orcs haven't been able to enter all the hidden and protected parts of the castle yet, so much of our secrets may still be safe. And there might even be survivors hiding in these hidden parts of the castle. The archmage himself is still unaccounted for, and who knows the secrets of the castle better than him? Maybe he still is alive somewhere in there. But if Victor were to get there before us, he surely will find our secrets and kill our survivors and by that cause irreparable damage to our order. Gideon: Alright, once again I see that you have given this more thought than me.Aidana: Yes I have. So are you with me?Gideon: Gladly, but look at me. I'm not in any shape to kill more orcs anytime soon.Aidana: I agree, your wounds don't look very good! Let me do something about them. Gideon: Pah! As if magic could do me any good! And besides, don't you know that we elves are quite resistant to your kind of magic? Aidana: Don't presume to teach me about magic! And by the color of your skin you look just as much human as your pointy ears give away your elvish blood. Seeing how you still are alive after all these wounds I think you even must have some of the old blood of the northmen in you. She gives Gideon a small vial of a dark liquid, which he reluctantly empties. Gideon: Aaaah! It burns!! Aidana: Good. Then you aren't as immune to elemental magic as you thought and the potion is doing what it should. Look, the blood flow from that badly dressed wound is already stopping. And the shiver from the cold after your little swim in the river seems to have stopped? In a day or two you should be back in fighting shape. Chapter III: Through the Rakath Foothills And so it was that Gideon set out with a ragtag force towards the east, Aidana leading their way. Behind them were Lutalo (seeing the opportunity of finding glory in the coming battle) and Roger Farstrider (seeing the opportunity for gold in the coming battle). Another man with the same motive was Ediz Falconi, who also had been persuaded to join with some reinforcements from their nearby base at Falcon’s Nest. After a long travel on uneven roads up into the jagged foothills of the Rakath Mountains, the travellers pass over a ridge and finally see a great castle on the next mountain. Aidana: Behold, beautiful Zar! Now we are finally almost there, but we should await the darkness before trying to approach the castle. Gideon: Alright, but we are not trying to get through that main gate I hope? Aidana (chuckling): No, indeed not! To those who know the castle, there are innumerable hidden passageways. And some of them reach the outside of the castle as well. Roger Farstrider (catching up with the others): Sounds good! Hidden ways are always better than fighting. Ediz Falconi: Looks like a big castle, I assume our reward if we succeed will be accordingly? Aidana: Don’t you worry about that, if we take back the castle I will make sure that you are a rich man. Ediz: Sounds like my kind of battle! Lutalo: I yearn for a good glorious battle! It has been too long since I last had the chance to cleave an orc with my sword. Aidana (with a smile): Looks like you all can get what you are looking for. Now let’s rest a few hours and then get on to business. Chapter IV: Battle in the hall of the Khel'Zarim Aidana leads the party to a small crevace at the base of the mountain, and behind some rocks there is a smooth surface. She mumbles some arcane words and her staff starts to glow, and in response a fiery line spreads along the wall to form a doorway. With a low rumbling the door swings inwards and inside the opening a long narrow winding stair ascends into the mountain. Climbing for hours, the party finally reaches the castle. Most of the castle seems desolate and on the surface looks completely pillaged, with the decaying bodies of both magi and orcs still dot the courtyard. Some corpses clearly show signs of being eaten on, by orc or animal is hard to tell. From the great hall there is however some noise to be heard, and Aidana quickly leads the party in through the broken front door. Inside, a horrible scene unfolds. Dead bodies, skulls and bones surround the great marble council table where the band of remaining orcs apparently have taken up residence. Aidana, who has held a quiet determination throughout the infiltration of the castle loses her composure and screams: "Sacrilege! They are using one of the eternal fires for cooking! And it looks as they are cooking a human! This must end NOW!!" Surprised by the screaming, the orcs scramble for their weapons and prepare to attack the intruders who are quickly moving towards the orcs. A big orc in black armor with skeletal ornamentations, clearly the chieftain, stands outside the back door to the archmage's private palace and screams orders to his band. The battle begins when Gideon engages one of the orcs at the front along the wall, while Lutalo quickly jumps up on the council table to attack the orcs who are standing there. Roger Farstrider and one of Falconi's men take up their crossbows to eliminate the enemies with ranged weapons. The first casualties are one of the orc archers downed by one of Roger's bolts, the crossbow armed orc by the chieftain hit by the Falcon crossbowman. The enraged and still confused orc attacking Gideon exposes himself and falls to a quick strike from the half-elf. Falconi's men on both sides of the great table engage the foes, while Lutalo finally gets to taste blood on the tabletop. As more orcs are put out of action, the first casualty among the humans is the Falcon crossbowman who is hit by arrows from both remaining orcs with bows. On the right flank, the Falcons are quickly progressing through the still confused orcs while Gideon is circling around one of the fire pits. Roger Farstrider reloads his customized crossbow with lightning speed and takes aim at the ranged foe at the balcony. As another of the Falcons are mortally wounded, Aidana lands a hit with one of her fireballs knocking one of the orcs down engulfing it in searing flames. Falconi's closest man finishes off the orc he previously wounded. The battle clearly has turned in the favor of the humans, as Gideon and Ediz downs the last orcs by the firepits. Soon thereafter, a well-aimed crossbow bolt takes down the last orcish archer. All the humans, and the half-elf, advance towards the orcish chieftain who so far only with increasing desperation has tried to scream orders to his dwindling numbers. Before anyone, or even one of Roger's bolts, reaches the orc chieftain Aidana screams: He is mine! Now feel the fury of the Khel'Zarim!! A stream of fire arcs out of her staff and bright flames erupt around the big orc. The battle is over. Falconi tends to his wounded crossbowman and one of his men are finishing off the last surviving wounded orcs. Meanwhile, Gideon and Aidana enter the palace of the archmage. After some searching and calling out for survivors, a tile in the floor starts to move, exposing a stair. A dirty but well dressed grey-bearded man emerges from the opening calling out: Aidana! You did it!. Aidana: Archmagus, did you truly doubt that we would come back? Archmage: Yes, as the anti-magic field dissipated I thought that the battlemagi would retake the castle but as time went on and the only sounds I heard was from the orcs looking for treasure in my palace. Finally I was almost ready to do a final desperate attempt myself, but even with my powers I knew that it would likely have been my end. So I decided to remain here to destroy our secret archives if Victor came back. Aidana: I'm glad you didn't have to destroy the archives, imagine the loss to the world if the Flame had been let in there! Archmage: Yes my daughter, but I would let the Flame have them a thousand times rather than Victor laying his hands on them. Who knows what dark magic we have quelled over the centuries that Victor could use to terrible effect? Aidana: Of course, Archmagus. Archmage: We are still not safe here if Victor would turn his full attention here, but let us hope that other forces of good are victorious and that maybe as we speak even Victor himself has been defeated? And so it was that the Khel'Zarim once again ruled over their great castle, and the great hall was quickly restored to its proper state. And who knows, maybe the archmage is right that in the same moment, someone is fighting Victor himself...?
  17. Ok, so here is my challenge entry: "Let me pass, let me pass, I have an important letter for Uridius Dratiphe!" Looking up from his work, Uridius saw a middle aged messenger, apparently from Valholl, detained by a few of his retainers. "Let him come," he said. "Sir," said the messenger, "I have this letter from Elon Chorian. He ordered me to deliver it with all speed." Uridius eyed him questioningly. Having cut open the seal, he read: Elon Chorian, to Uridius Dratiphe, Royal Architect and soldier of Mitgardia, April 5th Today I have received news of the taking of Cedrica by Victor. The time has come. We must act quickly to prevent his marching on Valholl. Bring any number of soldiers you can and meet me at Cedrica's lake on the Adeler River. We must take on Victor in his den. Sincerely yours, Elon Chorian Scribbling a short reply, Uridius quickly finished his work. Only a few days later, his entire contingent, swelled by his brother and his retainers as well, marched to the banks of the Adeler, eager to assist in recapturing Cedrica and dethroning Victor. The fate of Historica was in the balance. The night was pitch dark as the army encamped in front of Cedrica, whose impregnable towers stared down at them mockingly. With it's gigantic walls, under which flowed the waters of the Adeler, it seemed as though the city could hold out for years. As the morning dawned, other Mitgardian armies came into view, among which Steen Larsson's and Glorfindel's stood out conspicuously. That evening, the army commanders joined to decide what the next step should be. Uridius' brother, although usually pessimistic, was a cunning planner, and suggested a strategy that might work. And so for days the army labored, always in the strictest secrecy, digging a vast trench, designed to change the river's course and, if all went well, enter into Cedrica under the very noses of the guards! Finally the time came. The night was moonless, the army stood ready as the last barrier was cut, and the river, long pent up in its course into Cedrica began to empty as it flowed into the lake the army had dug. Under cover of darkness they marched quietly under the walls, taking the hand by surprise, as they flowed into Cedrica. Quickly taking a portion of the men, Uridius Dratiphe and his brother marched in silence to Victor's banquet hall, where he was known to be holding a feast with his most trusted commanders. Crash! Crash! And yet again, Crash! The sound of breaking glass filled the room as Victor and his accomplices sprang up in alarm. Through the windows and doors Uridius' soldiers came pouring in, quickly overwhelming Victor's few guards. Kaïn, who had been present at the banquet, engaged Uridius by throwing all kinds of food at him, but the Mitgardians did not slow down! Victor, seeing that the day was against him, raised his staff to call more troops, or perhaps an elemental - no one really knows, because before he could do more, a dark cloaked figure slid up, plunging a dagger into his back. Whether the assassin was one of Victor's guests or not has not been discovered, however, availing himself of the momentary confusion, Kaïn slipped out, and escaped the city. Nonetheless, Cedrica has been taken, and the threat of the hand of corruption was gone! Historica was free! If possible (could ZC or someone help me on this point) I would like to edit this topic tommorrow to add more pics and possibly change the story a little bit. However, if it is not possible,it does not matter to much. Anyways, I loved building for this challenge! More pics at my photostream: http://www.flickr.co...tos/robert4168/ C&C are welcome as always.

    The Rorark Bridge

My lord Victor, We have reached the Rorark Bridge. It is a small fortress build over a large river. It is the only way into the heart of Mitgardia. It is well kept and snow is constantly swept off it. I quickly assembled a raiding party. We recieved little resistance, they were shocked to see enemies. There, were however two warriors that gave us a bit of trouble. Of course of numbers were able to overwhelm them. We will now proceed further... Your servant, Murthan Tada! Here is what I think is my best MOC yet! It turned out just how I imagined it. The raiding party. The small towers. Over the side wth you! Figless. Hope you like it! I think it's my best yet. Anyways, thanks for all the feedback about choosing a guild, but in the end... I believe my soldiers and I will fight for Kaliphlin, if they'll allow us. While we are not natives to this land, we have traveled from afar and find this land similar to our own home. The Dark March

As Historicans entered the city of Cedrica to kick Victor out of power the dark wizard sent a message to one of his elite generals, Murthan. The letter read: General, Take your army, capture Mitgardia while the warriors are in Cedrica. Mitgardia will be easily captured without their warriors. You will have surprise and time on your side, the warriors will linger long in Cedrica, in defeat, celebration, or battle. If we are defeated we will regroup in Migardia. Be swift! -Victor. Upon reading the letter Murthan gathered his soldiers and set out. Watching his soldiers, he stood in a tower and prepared his strategy. Another freebuild. I wanted to use my tower design again. 25. The old city, once the largest in Avalonia, betwixt Glevum and Antyria has long been in ruins, however at Historicas recent campaign against the black mage has allowed Nocturnian undeads and goblins to slip in without notice. they are experts at hiding, hoarding and making raids to the closer villages silently during the night. they are only strong in numbers. but numbers they have. the old city has been struck with an apocalypse.
