  1. Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3a Chapter 3b Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 As agreed with her husband, Lady Mariana of the Trifork has despatched emissaries to the most important diplomatic relations of the Trifork in order to solidify its position in the tumultuous times of current Historica. Riding fast towards Benoic, and later onwards towards Nalderic, this emissary is carrying two identical letters for the Lord Regents of Avalonia, de Gothia of Benoic and Simon of Nalderic. The letters read: To the Lord Regents of Avalonia, It is our hope that this message finds you well. First of all, we wish to reassure you of the continued and relentless support of the Trifork in furthering the well-being of Avalonia. However, we wish to express our concerns about the current political situation in our beloved Avalonia. Our fellow lords and ladies fought on different sides and are divided on the matter of Kaliphlin, and the tension amongst us is growing. We fear that this tension will lead to conflict and division, and feel that this risk must be addressed. Therefore, we wish to extend an invitation to the Trifork. My husband wishes to discuss the situation with you, and request your advice on how to best preserve the interests of Avalonia through the current crisis. Lady Mariana on behalf of Beorthan, Lord Mayor of the Trifork, Gatekeeper of the East and Captain of the Republic _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ En route to Nocturnus, Tauro and Bregir have now reached the outskirts of Cedrica, about to pass a guard post manned by the now somewhat redundant kings guard. They are carrying the following despatch: To Lord Vladivus Stormbringer, Captain of the Shadowmere Guard and the Moruth Rangers, and trusted friend of the Trifork, I write this letter on behalf of my dear husband. It has come to his attention that you backed different sides in the recent conflict in Kaliphlin, and he assures me how relieved he is not to have met you or your mighty armies in battle. He wishes to reaffirm his friendship to you, as well as reconfirm that the Trifork considers Shadowmere amongst its closest allies, and that you shall not stand alone in the looming civil war. In the event of a war, you may count on us to commit all available forces and the necessary resources to back your cause. Lady Mariana on behalf of Beorthan, Lord Mayor of the Trifork, Gatekeeper of the East and Captain of the Republic _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Galloping through the western deserts of Kaliphlin, one heading towards Mpya Stedor and the other towards the Nestlands, both strongholds of the High Council resistance. They carry a message for those still loyal to the Republic: To the High Councillors of the Kaliphlinite Republic, On behalf of Beorthan, Captain of the Republic and Lord Mayor of the Trifork. Through the recent conflict, the Trifork stood at your side through victory and hardship to the bitter end. The High Council can rest assured that the might and wealth of the Trifork will continue to support any decision you may take on Kaliphlinite matters. It is our hope that you will pass this message on amongst your allies. For the republic! Lady Mariana on behalf of Beorthan, Captain of the Republic, Gatekeeper of the East and Lord Mayor of the Trifork They further carry two addendums, one for the leaders of the Nestlands… To the leaders of the Cobalt Vale and the Nestlands, Your resistance to the attacks of the Desert King, both during and after the civil war is the stuff of legends. It occupied a significant part of the Desert King's forces, which significantly decreased the pressure on the rest of the High Council forces. This was true too for the Expeditionary forces of the Trifork, and for this, we are much obliged. Therefore, we hope to establish closer relations, starting with a trade agreement. The textile industry of the Trifork has a particular interest in the colourful minerals of the Nestlands, and we are willing to pay a good price in either gold or wares. Further, we shall open our markets to traders from the Nestlands, and hope you will do the same for us. Lady Mariana on behalf of Beorthan, Captain of the Republic, Gatekeeper of the East and Lord Mayor of the Trifork …and one for Lord Damaximus of Mpya Stedor. To Lord Damaximus of Stedor, After having had the honour of fighting alongside the forces of Mpya Stedor in the recent Kaliphlinite conflict, the Trifork wishes to solidify relations to Mpya Stedor to the benefit of both our cities. It is our hope that you will agree to a trade agreement allowing our traders mutual free trading rights. We are certain that this will bring great wealth to us both. Further, should the recent conflict have left you in need of further aid, you have but to ask, and the Trifork will do its best to assist. Lady Mariana on behalf of Beorthan, Captain of the Republic, Gatekeeper of the East and Lord Mayor of the Trifork _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The last of the messengers have taken the western route, heading towards Eastgate and Barqa. Camping in a ruin of an old manor, one of them have been cornered by a pair of werewolves of questionable affiliation. However, those werewolves are in for a surprise from above. Carrying the same message for the High Council as their colleagues, they too carry addendums, one for the MacLeans… To the honourable MacLeans of Eastgate and Easterbroke, We have been following the developments in Eastgate from before the civil war with great concern. Putting your differences aside to fight for the Republic was a most honourable deed, and Beorthan has been proud to fight at your side against the false sand king. Now that a truce has been agreed, the Trifork hopes to continue this alliance through trade. As you know, we are linked by the Red River, and the Trifork hopes that both Eastgate and Easterbroke will be interested in furthering the trade along this node. We are willing to commit patrol crafts to guard the traffic of the river, as well as to open our markets to your merchants and wares, and hope you will reciprocate this offer. Lastly, should we be able to offer anything in your efforts to rebuild Eastgate or Easterbroke, let us know, and we shall do our best to assist you. Lady Mariana on behalf of Beorthan, Captain of the Republic, Gatekeeper of the East and Lord Mayor of the Trifork …and one for Sir Gideon of Barqa. To Sir Gideon, representative for the city of Barqa in the Kaliphlin High Council, Honoured to have fought alongside the mighty Lord Gideon in the recent Kaliphlinite conflict, ser Beorthan wishes to reaffirm the friendship between Barqa of Kaliphlin and the Trifork of Avalonia. For a long time, traders from Barqa have been an important constituent in the markets of the Trifork, as has the caravans passing through our city towards Benoic and central Avalonia. It is our hope that we may strengthen this relationship, and therefore, on behalf of my husband, I extend a standing invitation for Lord Gideon or any of his representatives to visit the Trifork and discuss a treaty of friendship and trade between our cities. Mostly unscarred by the recent conflicts, the Trifork is further in a position to offer assistance, should Barqa want anything in your efforts to recover from war. Lady Mariana on behalf of Beorthan, Captain of the Republic, Gatekeeper of the East and Lord Mayor of the Trifork _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ C&C welcome - I hope you like these small builds, as they were quite fun to build. While this is not strictly related to the Aestwäld saga with TitusV, it follows naturally to one of my other builds of the Saga, which is why I titled it as belonging to the saga. I hope that those addressed above have no issue with being implicated, but as you are free to react as you wish, I decided not to ask first. I of course hope that: 1) No one feels forgotten. I have tried to include most of those who has had former interactions with the Trifork directly or through challenges etc. 2) This will spawn some reaction over time from some of you, but I also fully understand if time or priorities does not permit it. No pressure! 3) You don't mind the amount of text.
  2. The Rivergate, also known as the "Bucksgate", for the shield over the gateway, is the most important gate leading from the Inner City to the Harbor District. As such, it is quite important for the trade and defense of Drondil. Due to the early hour (read: due to the lack of minifigs), there's not much folk about, except a tradewomen thinking to make bussiness. ---------------------------------- Thank you all for the kind comments on the docks, I think this answers your questions about Drondil being modular. (But since these are all the bricks I have, I will tear this down so you can also see other parts of the city. Building a totally modular city O can keep intact still stays the goal). Thanks again to Kabel and Bregir.
  3. The city of Drondil, capital of the county of Drond's Feelds, and one of the major cities in the south, lies next to a river. And altough the river is not comparable with it's brothers in the Trifork, it still allows a lot of trade. Thanks to Bregir who made this incredible map. Of course, to regulate such a flow of wealth (and more important: to make sure a part of it stays in Drondil), the right infrastructure is needed. Therefor, the whole bank is build full of warehouses and other needed buildings for merchants. On these banks, you can find people from all over Historica (even from Varlyrio), for example this young Mitgardian... Wealth attracts thieves, and thug attract thug, but this Avalonian lady still walks alone... ... 'cause the city guards keep everything safe (if the're not sleeping, of course - one has to set priorities). The Kaliphlins seem more interested in the excellent local wines... For good order, the Kaliphlin was removed by a guard who woke up of his noise. Guards can't put up with that. And he spoiled the sight. -------------------------------------------------------- Thank you all for watching, this is supposed to be the first real part of the city of Drondil (the stables and vinyard lying outside it). I'm not sure what to enlist it as, but I'll call it nautical untill someone says different. I need to thank two people for this build: Bregir, who really welcomed me when I started, exact 6 moths ago, and made that brilliant map you saw. He's also really cool to work with for the Saga (don't worry, it will continue) and has another dozen qualities, I'm not going to sum them all up here. The second person is kabel. I met him two weeks ago at BMA, and he was fantastic. I knew some SNOTting techniques fom DC and Adair (thanks to him too!), but he showed me the logic behind them, so I can now invent in place of copy. And I've seen a lot of styles for cities, going from Skavenport to Barqa (wich are two really cool cities), but I never saw the style I wanted to adapt and make my own (that's why the previous build where located outside the city itself). Untill I arrived at BMA. One glance on Thorshaven, and I was in LOVE. With capitals. The monday after, I started building. Kabel, thank you so much for inspiring me. Titus
  4. With this build I am claiming the Task 4 : Laborers : Road workers category for my city of Falahuas. I made this little chapter also to announce that my trade roads by land are partially re-opened, mainly for Avalonians first. I am making Falahuas open to the Avalonians who want to create some trade roads with it. To do so : PM me and, when the road is accepted, make a build in the Falahuas market place. This will allow spreading some brands of trade from the 6th task ! And with it I am saying that I will participate more in the active political life and major lore of Avalonia and GoH ! This is the 4th chapter of my story The Restauration of Falahuas. Here are the previous chapters : - The Restauration of Falahuas Ch1 - The Restauration of Falahuas Ch2 - The Restauration of Falahuas Ch3 After joining Erthain at First Fall Point, the western borough of the city of Falahuas, and helping him to finish the bridge repairs, the 'Road Repair Team' lead by Lord Faladrin himself worked hard through the Enchanted Forest. They rebuilt each mile of the western road first in order to join Vanhorn and be able to contact some Avalonians. Lord Faladrin was on duty by escorting the workers through this part of the forest well known to be lush and opulent. The workers saw by seeing the flowers and the vegetation near the road, that is usually well kept, this will be a hard job to repair the road ! And Faladrin knew it was a dangerous pass. It was near there, some years ago, he was hit by a poisonned arrow that nearly killed him. Without the help of Walaheria, who healed him, he would be dead. Firstly, the team had to dig and remove the remnants of the older road. Then they had to spread sand and flatten the road bed. And finally put the pavement on. The stone cutters had to prepare and bring many loads of stones and pavement ! With all this activity around, nobody seemed to see this strange winged shadow passing through the bushes of flowers... To be continued...
  5. Here are the previous episodes of the story : The Restauration of Falahuas Ch 1 The Restauration of Falahuas Ch 2 After his visit to Erthain and his inspection of the food supplies level, Lord Faladrin discovered the roads to exit the Principality of Falahuas were cut. Faladrin thought it was really the badest news he could have ! The port was severly hit by the Drows' attack as they came through rocky caves by the sea shore. The city center was badly damaged and the Market place, the city hall, the forum and the residence of the Princes are still in ruins too. It is difficult without the roads merchant trafic to be able to rebuild the city. How cuold the workers will build up some repairs without material supplies ? He definitively have to form a 'Road Repair Team' made of workers and of warriors to repair the roads and to secure them as well. As he arrived at the 'Wharf Delight', the old tavern alongside the quays of the Falahuawin river behind the fishery, near the port, Faladrin made his decision, he will supervise the roads repairs and lead the team himself. The Tavern and Inn is of good standards and had not suffered too much from the attack, so Faladrin and his wife, the Princess Walaheria, decided to move their residence here until the Princes' Residence is rebuilt. The Princess Walaheria was just finishing preparing herself when Faladrin arrived. Rest Falahuas 09 by Thomas LOUYOT, sur Flickr Some street musicians band and acrobats were setting a show just in front of the tavern. Probably some of these traveling groups that were stucked in the city when the port was destroyed, Faladrin thought. Rest Falahuas 07 by Thomas LOUYOT, sur Flickr Rest Falahuas 10 by Thomas LOUYOT, sur Flickr The old Barney, owner of the 'Wharf Delight', welcomed Faladrin : - Good morning My Lord ! Welcome ! - Good morning Barney. Is Walaheria here ? - Yes, Sure, she is upstairs. - Thank you, could you keep me a table and make an announce that I will organise a meeting after lunch where I will hire some valiant workers who are not afraid of going on the forest to make the roads repairs they need ! - Yes Mylord, as you wish. And Faladrin joined his wife to explain her his plan. Rest Falahuas 12 by Thomas LOUYOT, sur Flickr - Hello my love ! Good trip ? How are the food supplies ? Will the citizens starve ? Asked Walaheria. - Hello ! No, that's fine, the food suppplies are just enough to feed everybody but there is an other problem : The roads have been cut by the Drows when they retreat through the woods. - Oh ! I see... And without a functional port... - Yes ! You are guessing well, We are cut from the world, from our allies. But I have a plan : I will lead a little group of workers and warriors to make the repairs and I would like to you to lead the repairs of the port. Are you agree ? - Yes of course ! It is my duty as a leading Princess. - Ok ! Great ! I organized a meeting for this afternoon where I'll hire the team. In the tavern, the meeting begins : Rest Falahuas 15 by Thomas LOUYOT, sur Flickr Rest Falahuas 11 by Thomas LOUYOT, sur Flickr - Alright, thank you all for coming at this meeting ! I see some of the fishers, great ! And some of the merchants, ok ! But you too ? The artists ? you want to work hard on the roads ? Said Faladrin when he saw the leader of the band he saw in front of the tavern the morning. - Yes of course Mylord ! Said the lady leader of the performing troupe. We are stucked in the city. Don't take offense, but it is not our way of life, we want to travel and perform our show elsewhere. So, what is the best for us to help and repair those roads ! - Alright ! Every help is welcome ! I am hiring you too. Ok ! Now the team is complete ! Lets get to work ! And Faladrin organised the roles of everyone, the plans of the bridge, the positions to reinforced by building new surveillance towers and the many details needed for such endeavor. With this build I am claiming Some of the Task 4 building for the city of Falahuas, Capital of the Principality of the same name. I'd like to claim : - Hospitality -Food and Beverage : Tavern (first flour) : Rest Falahuas 13 by Thomas LOUYOT, sur Flickr - Hospitality - Lodging : Inn (second flour) : Rest Falahuas 14 by Thomas LOUYOT, sur Flickr Entertainers : Performing troupe : Rest Falahuas 16 by Thomas LOUYOT, sur Flickr Thank you for reading my story. I know it is a bit long but the building was inspiring me when I built it so I felt I had to make more. So I added a removable second flour to add the Inn part of the building. The performing troupe made its own way when I prepared the minifigs to illustrate the front of the Tavern/Inn of the Wharf Delight. Hoping you like it. Thank you for C&C.
  6. Nur Amon is a small village at the Drond's border with the Trifork. The few villagers who live there are defended against raiders by a strong tower, part of the "defensive wall" around Drondil's Kaliphlin border. Not that there are many of them, The only possible loot would be the livestock of Nur Amon's farmers. Suddenly the air darkens. A seamingly endless stream of black-clad warriors start to pear into the village. Seeing this, the guardsmen gives a cry and asks who they are and if Alric knows they are in his territory. The warriors just ignore his question, and while the rest start raiding the village, one of them stabs a spear through the guard's guts. One by one, his collegues end up with the same fate, while other soldiers purue the remaining farmers. On top of the tower, the last guard puts up a desperate fight, but his effort can't win the skirmish. A black soldiers takes down the flag of our proud county, green of Avalonia and blue of Drondil, and after putting up their own fight, starts relieving himself on our colours!!! Then he throws it down and leaves the roof. -------------------------------- Quint was afraid. No he wasn't afraid: he was scared to death! Never ever happened in Nur Amon, and now they were the subject of an invasion, with him being the only one left alive! He was laying on the ground with at least three spears pointing at his head. Suddenly, a shadow appeared. A raw voice sounded: You're probably thinking why you're still breathing. Well, you're going to do something to me. Run to your daddy -but, your soldiers just killed my da- the other side of a spear made him be silent. You're going to run to that count of you and tell him right this: (sarcastic) Lord Alric. Wanna switch your wife for your county? Cheers. Understood?Quint nodded, and while the soldiers pillaged his home, he ran as he never had before. ------------------------ I'm quite proud of this, and it will be seeable at BMA. I used another camera for these pictures, is it better? Thanks to Beorthan for collab-ing with me, to Maxim, and to you for reading! Untill the next chapter, Titus ------------------------- Addditional pictures:
  7. Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3a Chapter 3b Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Having made preparations for leaving, Beorthan is now at the head of the Trifork Lancers, being guided westwards by the somewhat battered messenger to join forces with Aelric. The Trifork Lancers form an elite company of heavy cavalry, making up the main shock force of the Trifork Arsenal. Formed shortly after Beorthan's election as Lord Mayor of the Trifork, they are armed with the finest Shadowmere steel and riding powerful steeds from Drond's fields. Participating in the Kaliphlinite civil war quickly turned this newly formed company into an experienced, battle-hardened force to be reckoned with. Trained to fight both mounted as heavy lancers and dismounted as heavy spearmen, they are effective in both offence and defence. At the same time, Drake is leading a company of Trifork infantry through the southern swamplands to the plains near the southern border of the Trifork and thus Avalonia. Marching across these few miles of open land, an enemy will be able to seek refuge in the hills and mountains making up most of the border between Avalonia and Kaliphlin, through which they can sneak deeper into Avalonia. Raiders often choose this arduous route, rather than to face the obstacle of the fortress city of the Trifork. Drake's objective is to stop enemy reinforcements from making their way to the fight. As the cavalry, the infantry of the Trifork has been hardened by the Kaliphlinite civil war. By reforming the old city watch, Beorthan has created a disciplined, well lead, and well equipped force able to adapt to most situations. Trained by the veterans Marcus and Cassius, they are well-versed in most infantry tactics. ____________________________________________________________ Next instalment in the Aestwäld saga. Further, it is also my entry to the Avalonian Task One, presenting my troops. C&C is, as always, more than welcome. Still looking forward to seeing where this story goes.

    [MOC] Avalonian Tower

Graham visits one of the many towers along Reyelan's borders.
  9. Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3a Chapter 3b Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 After having just received a call for aid from Drond's Feelds, Beorthan has mobilised the forces of the Trifork. As they are making their preparations, he has asked his wife Mariana to join him and Drake for a walk through the city. "…therefore, I will head the cavalry to join forces with Lord Alric, and Drake will take the infantry south to stop any forces from moving through our lands. In the meantime, you will handle matters here, Mary." Mariana and Drake both nod, as they follow Beorthan through the narrow canal streets of the lakeside quarter. "However, there are some things we need to discuss before we leave. As you both know, the Trifork has come out of the Kaliphlin civil war stronger than ever. Our economy is booming, and our troops are experienced and battle-hardened. However, we cannot stand alone." As they pass a small bridge, Drake chimes in: "I agree. The situation in Kaliphlin is still uncertain - with the High Council holed up in their cities, and the Desert King already proclaiming his triumph, we have a mess at our borders. Not to talk of the trouble brewing in the Darklands…" Mariana continues with a frown: "Further, the situation amongst our own ranks is shaky at best. With the lords of Avalonia having backed different sides in the war, animosity and distrust has been sparked. The trouble to the south may end up being the least of our problems." Pausing to greet a townsperson passing by, Beorthan agrees: "My analysis is the same, my friends. Therefore, we need to reach out to all and every ally we have. This task will fall upon you, my love - I have no doubt you can handle that, as well as the daily management of the city." Mariana and Beorthan exchange a loving glance. "When you were elected Lord Mayor, I knew these duties would fall upon me in times of need. Things will be taken care of, as I long for your return…" Returning her smile, Beorthan continues with a serious tone: "I want emissaries sent out at speed. Our allies in the High Council must be reassured that the might and wealth of the Trifork will continue to back any decision they may take on Kaliphlinite matters." "I concur. The High Council best represents the interests of the free Kaliphlinite cities, the people, and the merchants; and as such too the interests of the Trifork. Not to mention the atrocities and despotism of the Desert King…" Drake adds. Mariana ponders for a second: "I will send riders to the MacLeans in Eastgate; to Lord Gideon in Barqa; to Lord DaMaximus of Mpya Stedor; and to the pockets of resistance in and around the Nestlands. From there, word can be spread of our continued allegiance." Both Drake and Beorthan nods. "Further, it is imperative that we reestablish diplomatic relations to Lord Vladivus of Shadowmere. He has shown friendship before, and we are not to let down our friends now. Reassure him that having backed different factions in the Kaliphlinite civil war changes nothing. He may count on our alliance and continued support of his resistance in Nocturnus." Mariana seems to be taking mental note of the instruction and nods. "It will be so. Lastly, I will send a messenger to our Lord Regents, Simon of Nalderic and de Gothia of Benoic, expressing our concerns on the current political situation in Avalonia." "I'd suggest we invite them here to discuss the situation in person, the matter being of a somewhat delicate nature…" Drake suggests. "Such will be our agreement. Mylady, you will see to the city, while Drake and I prepare to depart. I shall return to bid you farewell before I leave." ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Yet another build for the Aestwäld saga. This is mainly a story build, so forgive me the picture to text ratio - I simply had a lot of things to get done before Beorthan leaves the city to aid Alric. I hope my shameless namedropping will be forgiven - I plan to post builds with the messengers later. (Meaning that the implied VIP's will also see the exact messages sent to them from the Trifork.) C&C is, as always, more than welcome. This collab is turning out to be funnier than I expected!
  10. It was a cold night. A shadow glided over the courtyard of N'Ora. It was no more than a shadow, perceived from the eyecorner. It dodged guards like it dodged light. When the shadow reached the stairs, it hesistated a moment. Then it took the way upward. When it came to door at the top of the stairs, a single candle lighted human form for a few moments. Then the light decided it didn't want to have anything to do with the stranger, and seemed to twist around it. A tendril emerged from the darkness, and reached toward the door... ------------------- The Mayor of N'Ora shivered and stretched his hand a bit further toward the warmth of the fire. It was a cold night, too cold for the time of the year. And like his grand-aunt, may she rest in peace, always said: "Cold nights, colder tidings." A wise women she was, his aunt. He looked up. Was that a noise outside? He decided it wasn't. And if it was, his guard would dispose of it. He had more important matters at hand. Only a couple of hours ago, he had received a message from his liege lord, Alric, saying that... He never saw the shadow coming, never saw the knife flashing. While the wind howled outside, his inside went silent... --------------------------- Thanks to you all for following, and to SK6, who gave me the inspiration. I'm very very sorry for the picture quality, but quite proud of the MOC itself. Enjoy! Edit: thanks to Ska for changing the topic title! Additional pics, figless: And, since it would be a pity to only show the figless ones:
  11. Free build for Avalonia 4th task : The restauration of Falahuas Chapter 1 Here is my first participation for the 4th task of Avalonia : I would claim the agricultural build for my capital Falahuas. It is also the first chapter of the story of the Restauration of Falahuas. Hope you'll enjoy it. After the Drows' attack on Falahuas, the fields near the city of Falahuas, the capital, had to be regrown rapidly so the citizens don't starve. Old Erthain, one of Faladrin faithfull friends, restarted some crops just at the western exit of the capital, at an ancient roadcrossing called First Fall Point, near the first falls of the river Falahuawin. Rest Falahuas 01b by Thomas LOUYOT, sur Flickr Faladrin himself went to salute his old friend and inspect the crops. Rest Falahuas 01 by Thomas LOUYOT, sur Flickr - Faladrin : Hi my friend ! How are you ? - Erthain : Fine mylord, it's a pleasure to see you. - Are the crops ok for feeding the people now ? We're going very short in food supplies by now. - Yes, mylord, there will be enough to feed everybody. But we will need more men to harvest. - Ok, then you shall have men. - Thank you mylord. - You're welcome my old friend. - But mylord... To be continued...

    Life in Araluen

A trio of Avalonian soldiers return to Araluen from Kaliphalin, where they were stationed during the civil war. Now that the fighting has died down and their captain has recovered from the attempt on his life they finally made their way back home to the vast forests of Avalonia. Nearby, a trio of Araluen town guardsmen explore the underground network of tunnels left by the Drow and Dwarves. They have been tasked with exploring and mapping out the tunnel systems near Araluen so that they can be used by the Avalonian. Neither the guards or the makers of these tunnels ever realized how close they came to finding the resting place of a magnificent ancient beast. Here is a shot of the tunnel from the other side Notes: All the underground scenes in these builds were built about a year ago, and i had planned to put my Task 5 castle on top( All the builds are connected, with the tunnel on the left, the forest in the middle, and the bones on the left), but then i lost interest in it and it sat around for a long time, until i eventually decided that the castle wasn't up to my standards anymore, so I tore it down( I really, really needed the pieces). I kept the underground scenes since I liked them, and I tried to come up with a use for it for a while, but recently I decided to just photograph the good parts as separate builds. I also built the forest scene in the middle in another attempt to finish the whole scene, but quickly gave up and decided to only make a small scene with it. C & C welcome
  13. Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3a Chapter 3b Chapter 4 It is early morning in the Trifork, and the hustle and bustle of the city is only just beginning as the citizens wake up and begin their daily chores. Beorthan has just arrived at the city hall, and is now standing on the balcony, overlooking the very heart of his lands. From here, he sees a battered and beaten man limping his way towards the entrance of the building. Ordering the guards to let the uniformed man in, he turns on his heels and rushes to the mayors office, calling his friend and second in command, sir William Drake, to join him. In the office, he receives the battered man solemnly with a small bow. "Greetings, sir - May I call for someone to take you to the infirmary?" The man looks up anxiously, his body obviously aching from some incident. "Thank you most kindly, mylord - but first, I must speak my business - it cannot wait!" Beorthan frowns and looks to Drake, then back to the man. "Well, man, if it cannot wait, speak up immediately!" "Of course, mylord! I bring word from Alric, Lord of Drond's Feelds, and in his heart your friend and ally. He most humbly requests the strength of the Trifork to ride to his immediate aid..." Drake raises a brow, and gives Beorthan a significant look. "We too regard Alric and Drond's Feelds as our friends and allies. But what troubles have led him to seek our help? And what happened to you?" Still somewhat breathless from the strain of his travels, the messenger stops to collect his thoughts before speaking. "I was beset upon by an unseen enemy, setting a trap for my mount. I have been running here with all my speed. You must react quickly, as I am already delayed too long!" Beorthan motions to the man to calm down. "We shall ride out within the day, if only you will let me know to what end!" The messenger looks down in despair. "I... I have lost the message as I was ambushed... but..." "Yes?!" "An unknown enemy has raided our southern villages mercilessly. They have come from the east... in great number..." Looking to the maps, Beorthan seems alarmed. "From the East? They must have come through my lands... 'Tis unacceptable!" "But sir... There is more... They have taken lord Alric's wife... Your niece..." Narrowing his eyes, Beorthan's resolve seems to grow - he turns to Drake. "William, I want you to take a company of infantry south. We must block our enemy from getting reinforcements." Turning to the messenger: "You will be escorted to the infirmary, and if you are up to it, I shall ask you to ride out with me, as our guide. We shall be leading the cavalry." "Thank you, sirs. Lord Alric will consider himself in your debt." The messenger bows as best he can, before being helped out of the office by a guard. ________________________________________________________________ My humble addition to TitusV's Aestwäld Saga - We Avalonians can also do collabs! You may consider the first picture a teaser for a large build (my largest so far ) of the main plaza of the Trifork, which you will see whenever I 1) get it finished 2) figure out how to photograph it. As always, c&c is welcome. Hope you like it.
  14. Recently three GoH members (Myself, I Scream Clone and Frumpy) collaborated together on a build for a local Sydney show. Shadow Woods 06 by Dr. Rod, on Flickr The left side is by I Scream Clone, the forest by myself and the right side by Frumpy. The diorama shows a Nocturnus and Avalonian castle, separated by the "Shadowpath Forest". Location is the North west corner of Nocturnus, in the foothills of the Rakath Mountains. 15. Previous Chapter: The Aegis Council --- Next Chapter: The Burnt Roads (Warning, this chapter is LONG) Ansriff had met Voraal at the tavern and led him deep into the forest. "Yes, she's deep within the woods. Apparently, i've met her before." Ansriff said. "What? Where?" Voraal inquired. "It was back on one of my patrols, Avdar and i were on lookout for drows, but what we found was much worse. A pyromancer had been torturing a little girl, searing her skin with fire. Avdar snook up behind the maniac and sheathed his sword right in the pyro's throat. I then went to wrap up the injured girl in my cloak, and we brought her back to Vanhorn to heal her. But before we left the area, the pyromancer's staff sent some weird red aura into the girl. I spoke naught of it to Avdar, for i feared for the girl." Ansriff explained. "What's her name?" Voraal asked. "Temari, she called herself." Voraal nodded to Ansriff. "Thank you, here's your silver." he handed a heavy sack of coins to Ansriff. He refused. "No thank you. Take as a favor from a friend. Besides, i never got you a birth day present in the last ten years." Ansriff said. Voraal smirked, and walked up to a small paved area with a thin dark figure standing in the middle, chanting what sounded to Voraal gibberish. He coughed politely, and Temari jerked herself to turn to Voraal. "H...hello." Voraal said nervously. Temari brushed her hair away from her face. "What are you doing here?" "I came to find you." Voraal said. Temari narrowed her eyes. "Who sent you?" she asked. "Myself." Voraal replied, with a glint in his eye. "Why did you come to find me?" Voraal stood idle for a moment. "Because, i found beauty in you, despite your dark magic. "I am a pyromancer, not a sorceress. But, i thank you for your loving thought." she said. "I know how you received your flame." Voraal said. "How?!" Temari exclaimed. "One of my Ranger friends found you, after being tortured by a pyromancer, and they took you back to the city." Voraal said. "Oh, Ansriff. He was like a father to me, until i ran away out of anxiety. I learned to live with my curse, the curse of the flame." she said. "Together, i can help you heal this curse." Voraal stepped closer. "Would you? After you saw that i served Axtrous? He killed the tribal elf." Temari remarked. "Yes. I have no care for those elves." Voraal replied. Temari stepped a bit closer, and held Voraal's right hand with her left. The road was long to Kaliphlin, but Voraal and Temari made a great distance. Temari's home was in the Siccus Badlands. She lived in a large cave where she practiced her pyro magic. Together they would live in peace in Kaliphlin. --- Hey guys, sorry if any of you thought this was a long chapter. I just wanted to push Voraal out of Aeldric's story as fast as possible, as Aeldric will be recruiting new rangers in the following months. C & C welcome.
  16. Previous Chapter: Beyond Vanhorn --- Next Chapter: Rest in the Tavern Before the sun dipped behind the horizon, Aurthal stopped Aeldric for a word before they headed off to the Nocturnian chamber. "Aeldric, I have seen your interest in Ashura. I can see that you are interested in no other female. After this task, i will consider your relationship with her." Aeldric was stunned. "I.... I never said i was interested in her." Aurthal gazed deeply into Aeldric's eyes. "No, but i can see it in the way to look at her. Your eyes glint when you glance at her." Aeldric paused for a moment, then broke his silence. "We musn't dwell on this. Let us head into the chamber." Aeldric strode over to the entrance to the underground chamber where Voraal, Ashura, and Anursa were waiting. Aurthal was slow to head there, but once he reached the entrance he began a plan of action. "Okay, we will sneak in through the tunnels, and when we reach the throne room, i will do the speaking. While i talk to the evil lord, Anursa, Ashura and Voraal will sneak into the dungeons in the back and free my friend. Any questions?" everyone shook their heads. "Good, let's head in." The chamber halls were dark, but light filtered in from the throne room. Once they reached the door way, an undead guard pointed the tip of his halberd at Aeldric. The pale looking, dark armored man sitting on the throne in the back of the room spoke up. "What are you doing in my sacred hall?! How did you find it?" he exclaimed. "I was lead here by this elf," Aeldric said, stepping aside Aurthal. "Aurthal?! I thought my guards killed you!" the lord boomed. "So you thought, but it was i, who defeated your guard." Aurthal returned. "Guard, attack him!" by the lord's side stood a dark looking woman, who caught the particular eyes of Voraal. His interest in her nearly removed concentration on sneaking past the guard. Aeldric leaped forward at the necrotic guard, while Aurthal began casting destructive spells at the evil lord. "Your vampirism has made you weak to my fire!" Aurthal remarked. "Yes, but," said the vampire lord, standing up out of his throne. "It also makes me stronger than most." he said, picking up his spear to his right. He charged at Aurthal with a deadly fury. Meanwhile, in the back dungeons... Voraal, Ashura and Anursa infiltrated the dungeon halls, and slew every guard in the vicinity. "Hurry now, before more guards come, unlock the cell door!" Voraal exclaimed. "Alright, give me patience, this takes concentration." Ashura held her staff in front of her, and the green jewel on the tip of her staff began to glow, and the cell door clicked, and swung open. "Taunus, awake!" Ashura said, pulling a sleepy old man out of the cell. "What! Who's there?! Wait, Ashura? Is that you, my, you've grown. I remember you since you were a little toddler!" "Yes, yes, Taunus, skip the memories, we must go!" Ashura commanded. "Alright, it's about time i smelled the fresh air again." Back in the throne room... Aurthal lay on the floor, severely wounded. Axtrous, the vampire lord and Temari the sorceress had fled. Aeldric finished off the last necro-guard, before heading over to Aurthal. Aurthal caughed up a bit of blood. Aeldric pulled the black tip of Actrous' spear out of Aurthal's stomach. ".....Aeldric, you must hunt Axtrous down.....*cough* and..... defeat him. Taunus will help you find Dar, but please, for my sake, kill Axtrous with all your might. He....... was.... one of the..... Necromancers..... who killed..... your family...." Aeldric's eyes widened. "If you complete this quest, i then i give you permission... to marry my sister...." and with that, Aurthal died in Aeldric's arms. ---- Alright guys, so, i tried a different way of story telling this time. Let me know what you think. Also, this is a fairly old build, and was built before the Avdar's Office remake. Constructive Criticism is welcome.
  17. The Trifork has not been unaffected by the recent conflicts. Civil war in Nocturnus has brought strange fugitives to its borders; Drow incursions and rumours of plague in Avalonia has led to local unrest; Troubles in Mitgardia has disturbed trade and mythical incursions from the far north has brought fear to those lands; Lastly, the bloody struggle for control over Kaliphlin has demanded lives of sons, fathers and brothers, and disturbed basicly all daily tasks and routines of the border town. During these times, everyone must take their part in feeding their families and keeping the economy going. One such person is young Peter, who has taken up tending to his family's sheep with his trusty dalmatian, while his father serves with the Trifork city guard. In the highlands north of the Trifork, the lands are perfect for grazing. However, as the highlands are a good two days out, the shepherds maintain a number of small huts for all of the community to use. Here they rest for the night, and store supplies to make their lives more comfortable. It is customary for shepherds to leave something for the next inhabitant, be it cheese, wine, bread, or similar. Sheep is a popular livestock, as it can produce both meats, dairy products and wool, ensuring a steady income for the shepherds, regardless of price developments in any single commodity. Therefore, Peter's work is enough to keep his family well fed and to supply them with surplus products to take to the market. Thanks for looking - my second build for the husbandry minichallenge. The shepherd is from my minifig-series and I had the sheep lying around since forever. (They are not my own design, but I can't remember where I saw it.) C&C welcome - again thanks for a nice minichallenge!
  18. All men must eat - especially during times of crisis, where large parts of the workforce is diverted to war time production or the military forces. And while bread, potatoes and dairy form the basis of nutrition, a happy and healthy populace (and army) requires more diversified diets. Located in the far south of Avalonia, with hot winds blowing in from the Kaliphlinite plains, the Trifork has perfect conditions for growing many different types of produce. These crafty farmers have abondoned the hard labour of growing grains and turned to the more delicate business of oranges and other lemonfruits. While adult trees adapt well to the climate, saplings have to be groomed and require additional incubation. This is done in greenhouses, simulating the climate of more tropical regions, to allow the young trees to establish roots and resilience for the slightly harsher local weather conditions. With a high yield production the orchards of the Trifork normally delivers more than enough lemonfruits for the local populace. Recently, however, prices have been driven up and the produce reserved to a more elitist market. Hopefully the markets will normalise, so all again can enjoy the sweet and sour sensation of the fruits. For now, the farmers enjoy a premium on their prices... __________________________________ An entry for the Husbandry challenge - C&C welcome. I know this isn't anything special, but I wanted to try out my new fences (PAB) and try building a greenhouse. In fact, that part was more complex than I had anticipated. Thanks for a nice minichallenge!
  19. Bread is one of the most important food in the diet of many peoples; here at Hidden Garden, there is a bakery, runned by a long line of bakers through history. In this times of wars, there is an even greater need of bread and that bakery is going at full power. Alexander helps carrying sack after sack of flour to the bakery to be sure they don't remain without raw material. The first floor: The second floor: Awaiting for a new batch of bread = = = = = = = = = Here we are with my second and last entry for Husbandry Challenge! Just in time for the deadline! Hope you Enjoy!
  20. (Sorry that i've been a bit inactive. I've been really busy with school, and it's been hard ot find a time to put this up. More builds on the way, enjoy!) Previous Chapter: Avdar's Office (Remake) --- Next Chapter: Chambers of the Nightlord (And now, Beyond Vanhorn) The forest smelled fresh with the breath of the old trees. A soothing breeze swept through the leaves. Aeldric and Voraal were on their secret patrol through the forest for the elves. They came up to a small ruin. All was quiet, until a duo of female elves leaped out of the thick brush. They held their staves against Aeldric and Voraal. Ashura: "Who are you?" Anursa: "Why are you in our forest?" Aeldric took a moment to gather his thoughts. He glanced at Ashura with eyes of interest. Aeldric: "My friend and I gathered detail about you, a special group of elves, and we came to look for you for answers about Dar Askelohn." Anursa remained quiet. She was rather shy. Ashura glanced at her. Then back to Aeldric. Ashura: "What about Dar?" Aeldric: "We found a tomb with his name engraved upon it. I thought he went missing in the mountains just beyond the border of Mitgardia." Ashura: (left) pondered this. "Our older brother may have some answers to this." Ashura led Aeldric and Voraal deeper into the ruins, and before them sat a male elf on a birch throne, with a green jewel of temperance above it. Ashura: "Bow to him, man." Ashura commanded Aeldric. Aeldric stepped forward, and gave the elf a light bow. He noticed that the throne was wrapped in vines, and overgrown with lush nature. Aurthal: "What do you wish to know about my friend?" the elderly elf asked. Aeldric: "I would wish to know of his whereabouts. We found a tomb in the forest with his name upon it, and i thought he went missing in the north. Aurthal: "He did. There are many false graves of the knowledge master. He does live now, and i can show you to him, but only if you do a favor for me." Aeldric: "What would that be?" he asked, glancing once again at Ashura. She gave him a light nod. Aurthal: "I have been having troubles with a group of necrotic Nocturnians in the forest. They have built a secret underground structure housing another of my friends. He may be able to help you find Dar. You must help us rescue him, and defeat the leader of this group." Aeldric ran his fingers through his hair. He'd never dealt with a group of evil power. He considered it deeply. Aeldric: "Voraal and i will help you defeat this group, in return for knowledge of Dar's whereabouts." Aurthal: "Very well. You will meet us at the entrance tomorrow at dusk. Might i ask why, you need to find Dar?" Aeldric: "I lost my parents a long time ago, to a group of black-hearted necromancers. I know that Dar could help me find this group, and put my revenge upon them." Alright guys, this build was before the remake of Avdar's Office, so those tips didn't apply here. Also, i know there's no base or frame for the build. I just couldn't find a good look for it. Anyways, leave your thoughts!
  21. Pellania’s healing mixture Once upon a time Petricel was on another wandering through Avalonia, he saw a lonesome nice looking Dwarven Lady. He was impressed from her agile walk and even more that she was armed with a slingshot. So Petricel asked her, if he can followe her and help with whatever she is doing! Perina Perina (what a wonderful name for a dwarven Lady.-) took with him to her house Pellania. Where Petricel found out that she is mixing a healing mixture. The mains substance ist the blooming head from Floweria Lisenua. A seldom, over man’s high flower, Petricel never saw bevor. Perina told him that they grow normaly on warm places and mostly on stony ground. She has started to cultivate it. Soon Petricel started to learn how to mix the healing mixture. How this mixture would help he only can imagine by all the great storys Perina told him. Even nearly death man came back to normal within hours. How it worked for animals saw Petricel at Perinas Dog. He was knocked down by a stone fall. Now he is back alvie but Petricel has somehow feel something is missing… Anyway Petricel is willing to mix a full barrel and bring it to Kaliphlin. There are still many people suffering ;-( And how knows that could become a known Trademark called Pellania’s healing mixture Overview shots Entrance: Back: ___________________________________________________________________________ I tried to do some new techniques for me. So C & C are welcome. This was also the first time I gimped my fotos…

    [MOC] Checking In

Reyelan fared surprising well during the Kaliphlin Civil War. So well, the government began buying a portion of the food from farmers and millers to sell to surrounding areas. Graham rides out to one of the mills to check in on the process.
  23. The following information comes from Wikipedia, page winemaking After the harvest, the grapes are taken into a winery and prepared for primary ferment. At this stage red wine making diverges from white wine making. Red wineis made from the must (pulp) of red or black grapes and fermentation occurs together with the grape skins, which give the wine its color. To start primary fermentation yeast may be added to the must for red wine or may occur naturally as ambient yeast on the grapes or in the air. Yeast may be added to the juice for white wine. During this fermentation, which often takes between one and two weeks, the yeast converts most of the sugars in the grape juice into ethanol (alcohol) and carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide is lost to the atmosphere. After the primary fermentation of red grapes the free run wine is pumped off into tanks and the skins are pressed to extract the remaining juice and wine. The press wine is blended with the free run wine at the winemaker's discretion. Red wine is sometimes transferred to oak barrels to mature for a period of weeks or months; this practice imparts oakaromas and some tannin to the wine. The wine must be settled or clarified and adjustments made prior to bottling. The time from harvest to drinking can vary from a few months for Beaujolais nouveau wines to over twenty years for wine of good structure with high levels of acid, tannin or sugar. However, only about 10% of all red and 5% of white wine will taste better after five years than it will after just one year.[1] Depending on the quality of grape and the target wine style, some of these steps may be combined or omitted to achieve the particular goals of the winemaker. Many wines of comparable quality are produced using similar but distinctly different approaches to their production; quality is dictated by the attributes of the starting material and not necessarily the steps taken during vinification. --------------------------------------- Additional pictures

    Path to Redemption

"By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes." Palzipan comes to the border of Avalonia. Palzipan, Healer of wounds, mender of flesh. Born and raised in Nocturnus, Palzipan, once a knight in the Nocturnian army, has come to Avalonia so as to live a simpler life as a healer. While he mainly deals with the art of healing, his is known to dabble in alchemy. A simple life seems not to be for him though, because once in Avalonia his past calls out to him, and he joins the Flight of the Dragons... I'd like to claim UoP DoH credits for the following: -trees -flowers and dense foliage landscaping -forests More pictures on my flickr. C&C welcome. Tell me what's bad, I can take it!
  25. In times of famine and food shortages, most Avalonians stayed in Avalonia, peacefully tilling their fields, harvesting crops, or hunting animals. Gremlon and Elisa, however, decided to deal with the food shortages in a different way. As such, they went to a small isle in Nocturnus... ...to raid the homes of the evil Nocturnians to get food for the more-deserving Avalonians! I decided to take a bit of a different approach to the challenge, as you can see . Note that though I'm an Avalonian, this MOC is set in Nocturnus - hence the colors and fairly dark overall look. Thanks for viewing! You can see more pics in the flickr album.
