  1. [pid][/pid] 244D Hello everyone! It's kind of crazy to think about it but it have been 2 years since my last pirate MOC was uploaded to this awesome forum. Of some strange reason I haven't built any pirate related stuff until a couple of weeks back when I woke up one morning and just felt that it was time, time to bring life to my beloved pirate collection. Best. Decision. So.Far. The first place I went to was of course Classic Pirates for some inspiration, another great decison After just 15 minutes of lurking around on the forum I was motivated enough to start the building process, and then I realized I had not decided what to build yet After another fifteen minutes or so lurking around on Brickset I decided that I wantet to make the Eldorado Fortress! I had a blast putting it together. Especially since it uses a bunch of different colors that I'am not used to use in MOCs. Neither could I use many modern technics since I wanted to keep the classic feel of it. For more picture please visit my Brickshelf: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=540241 P.S I turned 17 last Tuesday so you better wish me happy birthday

The 120-gun Ship of the Line Sans Pareil

[pid][/pid]158 C Ahoy! I'm proud to present to you my biggest project so far, the 120-gun Ship of the Line Sans Pareil. Construction began in January 2012, even before that of Vengeur, and I had finished her basic looks way before I finished any of my prefab hull ships. I started out in real bricks, but every budget has limits, so LDD had to do the rest. It did, and here she floats: Poor Redcoats. She is a modular build, as you can see here. And can hold a full interior. You can't really see it in this picture, but using some string the ship's wheel can actually be connected to the tiller, creating a working rudder (at least I hope so ). Furthermore, all the (brown) walls in the officers' areas are made to be removed to create a realistic battle environment. The key elements to her structure are these (old style) hinges. They are – unlike the new ones – completely flat and have hollow studs, which means they can be placed in half-stud distances, great for shaping, especially for that transition between the middle and upper gundeck. She's been my main project for a long time. However, she has always felt strange to me in a way, never was a true love-child. I can't really put my finger on it, maybe it's due to her obscure scale. Her waterline measures 116 studs in length (equaling around 90cm), length overall is 180 studs (1,40m), the lower gundeck is 30 studs wide. I guess that's roughly 2/3 minifig scale. So she doesn't qualify for that. But neither does she qualify for minifig illusion scale. I wouldn't even put her in the same category as Dread Pirate Wesley's excellent HMS Persephone. The relative height of her hull does bother me. But maybe it's mostly the SNOT technique I used for the hull but never really grew fond of, because it doesn't allow for adjustments nor to be fiddled around with... At least in LDD it is extremely frustrating ... Like for example I know the waterline clearly needs reworking, she's got to be lower and should enter the water at an angle of almost 90°. But in order to achieve this, I would have to change the entire base structure, not to mention all the hinges... It'd be an unbelievably time consuming act. I don't know if I'll ever update her. Anyway, she is a Behemoth, a monstrosity in some sense. She will always be a unique shape in my fleet, forever 'sans pareil'. 11700+ parts (Lego structure only) HighRes. pictures @mybrickshelf Thanks for watching, C&C as always welcome! If you have questions, please ask! Regards

    HMS Eternity

[pid][/pid] 148B Hello everyone! After a long, long time of not uploading anything, it is finally time to show you my latest ship - HMS Eternity, a flagship for my Bluecoat army! It's been a long, long time since I started building this, and it spent over a year in a cabinet almost completed and waiting to be finished before I finally found the time and the motivation to do it. The bluecoats have always been my favourite faction in Pirate LEGO sets, and I actually used my currect sigfig as this vessel's captain, as you will see in more detail later. Front view, you can see the figurehead here, as well as the anchor. The anchor mechanism actually is pretty similar to 10210 Imperial Flagship's - there's a vertical shaft hidden under the main deck, with the capstan on the main deck. I used a rope instead of a chain though. If we count the bridge, the ship has a total of 4 decks. All of which are accessible. In the picture above you can see the ladders that lead to the two decks below the main deck. The main deck. The two ladders on both sides of the entrance to the captain's quarters lead to the bridge. We'll visit the captain's quarters later. The ship's bell is visible here as well. Two large sections of the main deck can be easily removed to access the gun deck. This picture shows one of the sections removed. And this one shows the other one removed. There's a total of 14 cannons. Ready to fire! There's a brown door behind the last pair of cannons. It's hard to take a good picture of it from here. This is the entrance to the galley. We'll visit it later too. This is the lowermost deck. It can be accessed easily by removing parts of the gun deck. They are all placed on plates for easy access, just like the sections of the main deck. The soldiers who are off duty sleep in hammocks here. On this cross-section you can see where the 3 decks are, with the removable parts removed for easy access to the lowermost deck. As you can see, there are two doors next to the sleeping guy. They lead to another room on the lowermost deck... ...and it's a storage area with some barrels and chests. You can also see some grey metal doors there too. We'll get back to them later. Aaaand it's me! Told you so! The captain's quarters can be accessed by removing the plate that covers the bridge. This is the door that leads to the main deck. The whole sterncastle can be easily removed to access the aft part of the lowermost deck. Note the door to the galley I mentioned earlier - now it's clearly visible. But when it's removed like that, one can take a better look inside the sternacastle. Part of the captain's cabin can be also removed to access the galley. With the sterncastle removed, one can now see what is behind the grey metal doors on the lowermost deck... And these are captains Red Beard and Brickbeard, both captured by the mighty Bluecoats! Their hats are removed as a sign that they are no longer in command. Did you know that Red Beard's hair is long? Soldier: Here's your food, Red Beard! Brickbeard: What about mine? And that's it! Thanks for reading! The Brickshelf folder is HERE, with some extra images that aren't shown here! Please let me know what you think about the ship!
