  1. Hello everyone, this is my first participation in a challenge. The MOC is part of the dwarf quest - A: Ancestors and Heroes. Three dwarves are visiting the statue of famous Bofur Silveraxe. They pray for strength in the battles to come. (One of them is the commander of the attack boats I presented recently) This is also the first time I have tried some mosaic technique for the floor. This is why the result is so "modest" - other builders are already much more experienced in this sector. All the best for you for 2015! edit: Can someone correct the typo in the headline?
  2. Dwarves Side. Far beneath the Dwarven realm, a war council has begun. Soon the Dwarves will be leaving their ornate cities, for a time of war is upon them. They must first plan... So the Dwarven generals meet with their supporters... Raagam, who would lead the attack, lead the council. The council seemed to be going nowhere for Sir Infernum, who had been a key supported of the Dwarves. The Drow threat had been treated too lightly by the Guilds, and if the Dwarves wanted to take matters into their own hands, he thought, then good for them! Then an older gentleman, who was wearing ornate green and red armor, stepped forward. In his hand he held a model of a weapon, which he put on the war table. "This weapon will revolutionize attacks everywhere! With this, we can smash straight through the Drow's fortresses!" Two days later the dwarves emerged from their stone halls. Thousands of heavily armored, well trained Dwarves marched toward Avalonia. A Dwarven host like this had not been seen in Mitgardia in an age. And so, two weeks later... The sun rose as the Dwarves climbed over the hill. Their journey was over. With one last push, the ballistae reached the top of the hill. "We made it!" yelled a dwarf. "Our mission is not complete yet... Load and fire the ballistae! Quickly, we have not yet been spotted!" Said Raagam. Suddenly a cry rose out over the hill. It was a shrill shriek, the cry of Drow. "We have little time, hurry!" yelled Raagam to the soldiers, "Prepare to defend the ballistae!" Soon the Drow were upon them... The Ballistae fired, and flew across the battlefield. It hit its target, and produced the crumbling sound of rock against rock as the fortress began to collapse. The Drow scrambled as the fortress began to collapse upon them... But not all were able to escape. As the dust settled, and the Dwarves picked off the last few Drow, the battle was won. The Dwarves were now able to strike into the heart of the Drow threat. With dwarven reinforcements on the way, the war effort was looking bright.`
  3. Wyndor's Saga: See what happened prior to this: You Need Logs? As soon as they had made it down from the pass, and the border dividing the two guilds, Rothgar and the other dwarves made their way through the forests just below the mountain pass. They traveled due west, following the border of the guilds toward Tradewind Bay. They had to travel mostly at night to avoid Avalonian patrols. The dwarves were worried by the frequency of the patrols. No-one should have known that there were dwarves making their way out of Mitgardia. But the amount of armed men and elves seemed to show that someone had found out about the dwarves’ plan to attack the drow. When they were about a mile from the coast, Rothgar stopped his band of warriors to go over the final aspects of their plan. The dwarves of Dalig Ulv had received word that the drow had been shipping troops and supplies up and down the ill defended coastline. They also had information showing the traveling schedule of a certain drow general who would be accompanying one of the shipments. They decided the best course of action would be to attack the boats from land. After all the details were decided on, Rothgar gave some final words. “Men of the earth!” Rothgar began, getting cheers from his fellow dwarves. “Brothers! We are but a stone’s throw from the border of our lands. But simply because we are dwarves, the ruling council of Mitgardia says we can’t be here! Well, I say we are a free people! I don’t care if a bunch of tight-wearing elves are worried about us befouling their land. We have as much right to travel the land as they do! We won’t let them stop us from attacking the bane of our people! We will pursue these drow to the ends of the world!” The dwarves were really in a frenzy now. They quick marched the rest of the way to the cliff and prepared the ballistas they had been building. The drow ship soon came into view. “Steady brothers!” Rothgar shouted. “Wait until they are within range before you attack!” Telchar, a dark haired dwarf who shaved the sides of his head, ran up to Rothgar and said, “The drow have a captive on the boat. Look!” Rothgar peered out and saw that there was indeed a poor elf chained to the mast. “If we fire on the boat, we are sure to kill the elf as well!” exclaimed Telchar. Rothgar squinted his eyes in deep thought. After a few moments he said, “We cannot let that stop us. Elves still frequent these ruins and our presence will soon be known. We must strike the drow now. Fire!” The drow were armed with short bows crafted from the horns of mountain goats. They were powerful bows when used by someone strong enough to pull them, but they were still no match for the dwarves artillery fire. Two drow fell to the first two bolts fired before Rothgar ordered the next bolts to be set on fire before being launched. The boat soon collapsed from the flames and sunk into the shallow waters with all on board. OoC: Time. I wish I had more of it to give to this contest. I would have built 2 or 3 more MOCs for Cat. C depicting more of this story. I also would have made the boat bigger and put it in more water. As it is, it's kind of scrunched together. I hope you like what I had time to build though. Here are a few more pictures:
  4. Here is my entry for Challenge III Category A: Talking at the Inn. You should always be careful about who are close to you when you spoke at the tavern... Enjoy!
  5. Captain Braunsfeld

    Challenge III Cat C: Inventions

Callenge III, Category C - Dwarves Side: The dwarf commander looked at the model of a fortress, deep in thoughts. Dwarfardo, the inventor, approached him: "Sir, I can present to you a model of a siege engine. It will bring us victory against the Drow." The commander turned, unconvinced: "You have come only with a model? How long will it take to build the real thing?" Dwarfanardo smiled: "Oh, the real thing was finished before the model. We can move it back in here in no time." This assistants helped to move the large siege engine. Dwarfanardo applied last touches. Then he was satisfied. So was the commander. "How do you call it?" he asked. "Well", said Dwarfanardo, "Wallbreaker came to my mind." "So be it". The next day saw the "Wallbreaker" in action against the Drow: (Ok, a bit of a "rush build" to make the deadline...) edit/addition: But Dwarfanardo had actually created two more deadly machines: The commander was impressed!
  6. Wyndor's Saga: See what happened prior to this: The Laughing Dwarf At one of the passes through the mountains that stretch along the border of Avalonia and Mitgardia, a small band of elvish guards had been alerted by their spies to the fact that reneged dwarves would be trying to enter their green land to wage war and wreck mayhem. These elves were not used to the cold weather that came down from Mitgardia and filled the pass with snow. They often spent the day huddled together waiting for the evening when the next shift would take over for them and they could continue their huddling by a fire. That day had they had seen very little activity on the road. Finally a wagon made it’s way up the trail and past the guards. “Ho there!” shouted one of the elf guards. “What are you bringing into Avalonia?” The oversized man pulled back on the reigns and brought his team of horses to a halt. “Not’in here but beautifool trees from Valholl” the man said through his beard. The elves looked the cart over and under before letting the oversized man pass. “Alright, you may continue you on your journey” they said. “And may we say, these are some most magnificent trees you are transporting. It’s nice to meet someone else with good taste.” The oversized man picked up the reigns and prepared to continue. “By the way” the elf guard asked, stopping the oversized man before he could go. “Did you see anyone else behind you on your way up the pass?” “Uh… no, I was the only trooveler I could see” he answered. “Noo one was behind me.” “Alright boys,” the elf guard turned to say, “Let’s turn in early to the fire. If there was no one behind this gentleman then it will be at least an hour before a traveler would pass by.” The elves turned to head towards the camp and left the pass. The oversized man waited till the elves were far out of sight and then took off his overcoat. “A brilliant plan Rothgar!” said the upper half of the man. Three other dwarves popped their heads out of the logs and one of the asked, “Are we there yet?” “Almost,” answered Rothgar. “We’ve made it past the hardest part. Now we just need to get to the cliff so we can fire on the Drow in time!” OoC: Hopefully you'll caught that the oversized man was really two dwarves standing one on the other's shoulders. But just in case, I'll mention that here And yes, that is a Brian Regan reference in the title.
  7. It was a beautiful summer day in Mitgardia. The dwarf on guard atop the wall certainly thought so, as he smiled benignantly upon the snow studded landscape as far his the eye could see. And so thought the Mitgardian soldier snaking through the underground passage, though for different reasons, for he could not see a foot in front of him. In fact, the reason he thought so because it seemed as though he would finally accomplish what he had been attempting for the last fortnight, namely, making his entrance into the dwarven fortress before him. He had been charged by Sir Uridius Dratiphe to gather as much information as possible about the dwarven plans. It was by now a well known fact that the dwarfs were planning to invade Avalonia, but where and how they would cross the border was the question. Suddenly he ran into something hard, just under the wall. He was about to give vent to his frustration when he heard voices in front of him. Creeping forward silently, he put his ear against the wall and listened. On the other side of the wall in the castle's underground council chamber (dwarfs will do such things, you know!) a few of the leading dwarfs were having a council. "We are honored to have you here general," said the governor, "what news do you bring us from the frontier?" "All going well, mayor, our brethren are gathering weapons all along the border. In a few days all will be prepared for the attack. Best of all, Elon and all his men have not the slightest idea of our plans!" Additional wall pic: My entry to Category A of Challenge III Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!
  8. Every year in early winter Mitgardians gather to feast, drink, and watch one of their national sports, mountain bobsled racing. For the past 20 years, the Forest Freaks have guided their green machine down the Mitgard Mountain slopes to victory. This year however, the Red Racers have been a bright crimson blur against the snow and may just take down the experienced dynasty. My first build for the CCC this year. This was a lot of fun with the fig posing and the off-the-grid sloping. I'm not sure how that happened so beautifully, there aren't any gaps at the junctions! A couple more shots on Flickr As always, C&C is appreciated.
  9. A small free-build to celebrate the new season. During the long winter, an important source of protein for the Mitgardians is fish caught underneath the ice of the lakes. This fisherman is both lucky and unlucky, he has found some big fishes but should have made a bigger hole in the ice... I'd like to claim the following UoP credits: Underwater [Hydrology] Fishing [Agriculture and Zoology] (I know that it's a small scene, but together with this build and this build maybe I've shown enough underwater skills to merit the "Underwater" credit? I thought about asking for "life in Mitgardia" as well, but since I've been trying to tell people not to claim too many credits for too small builds I'll save that for another build)

    AoM: Tower Phase 3

Watch Towers can be found along the river Staal in Volhaal, to protect the main trading routes in and out of Graystar. They have stacks of wood on top which can be lit to warn the city of impending danger. Ground Floor and Basement 1st Floor/Captains Quarters 2nd Floor/Soldiers Quarters Beacon I've had the tower built for a long while, but decided that the rock work needed to be updated Hope this phase 3 is enough to pass, all C&C gladly welcome
  11. The whole series is based organized by guild and vocation. From front to back: Mitgardia, Avalonia, Kaliplin, Nocturnus. From left to right: Laborer, Warrior, Artisan, Noble. Though much of Mitgardia has moved on from the Old Ways, the west is still home to many traditional clans. The Jarl is the war leader and representative of a clan, to whom the warriors swear conditional fealty. The Jarl provides the direction and doles out the treasure, arms, and other resources of the clan in exchange for the service of the warriors. This Jarl straddles two worlds, the old and the new, with his patriotic display of Mitgardian colors contrasting with the traditional arm-ring of the western clans. The dwarves of Mitgardia are esteemed craftspeople. Stone is one of their favorite mediums, allowing dwarves to turn their monuments and settlements into awe-inspiring sights down to the most minute detail. This young woman has a flamboyant streak, decorating the obligatory hardened dwarven head gear with a colorful jewel and golden plume. The Shield Wall is an ancient battlefield technique that can allow a disciplined and brave band of warriors to take on much greater forces. This woman has tossed aside the traditional role of women in Mitgardia in favor of taking up a place in a Shield Wall. A veteran of many campaigns, she is a fierce and striking figure. There are many tribes of beastmen throughout Historica, but the best trackers are the Snow Stalkers of the Northern Wolf People. With his camouflaged cloak, tough leather armor, and canine companion, this Snow Stalker is prepared to take on any of the many dangers of the North. His speciality is the hunting of wargs. The elves of Avalonia are well known for their affinity with nature and the ephemeral magics of life itself. Druidism originated with the elves, and they are still its most fervent practitioners. In the secluded wooded realms of the most isolationist elven bands, High Druids tend to be community leaders, responsible for the spiritual and ecological well-being of everyone. This High Druid has not been in her position long, but her will power and confidence are unshakeable. Avalonia has a proud tradition of poetry and music. Bards are travelling entertainers that often move around Historica as their wanderlust drives them from place to place. However, Avalonian nobles and knights love to hire bards on retainer as part of their households. Patronage of the arts and the ability to entertain important guests are crucial parts of life for the gentry, giving bards higher status in society than your average street minstrel. This lovely bard is sings to the lute, favoring rousing ballads of heroic deeds. Avalonians love to hand out knighthoods, but the problem is there often isn't enough land to go with all the titles. Hedge Knights are landless, traveling warriors who either sell their swords into the service of a noble or tour the various tourneys and jousts that are held all over the land. This Hedge Knight has been at it for many years, and hasn't lost his fire for the melee. The lush forests and wetlands of Avalonia are home to a shocking variety of important plants and animals. Herbalists spend most of their time deep in the wilderness, gathering reagents to sell to healers and alchemists. Herbalism is a common trade in Historica and an important part of the economy, and no one does it better than the Avalonians. This herbalist, average in most respects, would have a grasp of herblore that would trump even a professor at the University of Petraeus. Kaliphin cities often have more nobles around than anybody needs. It has always been common for duels, feuds, and reprisals to thin their numbers but in some cities it's become a great affair of ritual, pomp, and circumstance. Bravos are Kaliphlinite nobles who do very little besides practice swordplay, talk about swordplay, and challenge each other to duels. Glassblowing was long the province of secretive guilds that could command blown glass at incredibly rich prices. In recent decades, the old guild system has broken down and freed the discipline to any who would learn it. This journeyman glassblower traveled with a Lion Tribe caravan his entire childhood before his parents apprenticed him to a glassblower. Now he and his master have taken up residency in Ruadh. The Goldpikes are a famed mercenary group that work exclusively in the beautiful lands of southwestern Kaliphlin. Unlike many such groups, the Goldpikes are exclusively women who hire themselves either individually or in small groups to local lords. The Goldpikes often claim their arms and armor are made of expensive Githril, a testament to the wealth they earn by being so good at their jobs. This Goldpike serves a Kaliphlin ambassador and is therefore required to fly the official Guild colors alongside her company's gold and white. In most parts of Kaliphlin, oil extraction is limited to digging around whatever seeps out of the ground. Many fortuneseekers dig trenches in regions surrounding known oil patches, hoping that their next shovelful of sand will make them rich. This oildigger appears to have gotten lucky, as the black gunk in his shovel and on his hand is indeed the famous Kaliphlin black oil. Long ago, magic ruled most of the lands now belonging to the Nocturnus Guild. Though most of the ancient Magisters, the rulers of that bygone era, have long vanished, a few remain. The only way they can maintain their lives and their power is through truly dark magics, including necromancy and diabolism. Though they are not truly undead themselves, Magisters are often associated with them. Blood is one of the truly unique economic commodities in Nocturnus. Like anything else, however, there are degrees of quality. Sanguinists are the artisans of the Blood Trade. They are the tasters, testers, mixers, and connoisseurs. Many become famous for their tastes and their scathing critiques of lack-luster vintages. Though most Sanguinists are vampires, this woman is not. No one knows whether the white of her skin is glamour, makeup, or her true flesh. She is the Red Lady, a famous Sanguinist that no one knows anything about. This Faelite pikeman serves one of the many petty kings and nobles of his people in their near-constant wars for control of their patch of Nothern Nocturnus. Humans are uncommon in Nocturnus, though the pale-skinned Faelites are well known. A phalanx of Faelite pikemen is a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. No pikeman fights alone, though they cut just as impressive a figure as when they are viewed in full formation. Those who need unseemly things can often find them in Nocturnus. The trouble is, it also means dealings with unseemly creatures. It is unknown how many of them are out there, scouring the battlefields and boneyards of Nocturnus for their livelihoods. No one knows if there is one or many, and a glut of myths and stories have developed about the Bonegatherer. Even the most frightening denizens of Nocturnus tell their spawn to be wary of the Bonegatherer without ever knowing, truly, why they should be.
  12. Infernum

    Taming a Beast

For a Mitgardian Ranger, the taming of a dragon is a key coming-of-age and initiation ritual. The chosen dragon, who was assigned when the ranger was born, is starved for two weeks, then released into the wild. The ranger must then track and find the enraged dragon. The defining moment of the Dragon Trial is the actual taming of the beast. The Ranger must approach the dragon weaponless, and be judged by the dragon. If the dragon deems the ranger worthy, then the ranger has found a lifelong companion. If not... Well the dragon was REALLY hungry... Here Sir Infernum can be seen following in the footsteps of his brother, the head ranger, and taming a Snowvenom dragon. So this is a freebuild I made a while ago. Not much else too say! Thanks for looking!
  13. Keld sets out with his cart to sell his Clear-Thinkers' Ale, otherwise known as apple cider. It is said that Keld makes the best apple cider in all of Historica. Two patrolling Mitgardians stop for a drink, and Keld joins them in enjoying the fruits of his labors. Finding success with his sales, Keld begins to dream of bigger things for the future... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- C&CC welcome! This is a similar design to the cart I used for my horse mill, incorporating fixes for the portions I was not satisfied with. Edit: Updated the first three photos with better photo editing.
  14. Butcher Birger and his wife Selby use the smokehouse to preserve meat to store for winter. After cutting up the meat on the butcher's table, the meat is hung on hooks from the poles below the rafters. A fire is kindled below and kept burning with low flames in order to provide steady heat and smoke to dry out the meat and preserve it to provide meat throughout winter, when game is scarce. EDIT: Added image with replaced smoke:
  15. I got tired of sorting and wanted to do something a little bit more exciting for a change, so I photographed the updated Falki Ridders. The Falki Ridders are the mounted guard of Erland Blar's village, Falkidalr, in Mitgardia. Erland Blar (Center) and his squires: Even Blar (Left, Erland’s nephew) and Tait Blar (Right, Erland’s youngest son) House Blar (Left to Right): Osmond (Erland’s loyal brother), Hagen (Erland’s oldest son), Fell (Erland’s nephew), and Bjarke (Erland’s middle son) House Blakkr: Einar (Right, Erland’s Champion) and Halvar (Left, Einar’s son) House Gulr: Rangvaldr (Right, Erland’s Advisor) and Ralph (Left, son of Rangvaldr) House Rjodr: Colborn (Right, Erland’s Hersir) and Manning (Left, Colborn’s son) House Vitr: Hammond (Left, Stian’s older brother) and Stian (Right) The weapon of choice of the warriors of Falkidalr is the poleaxe. It is versatile against unarmored and armored foes and doubles as a useful tool for everyday life in Mitgardia. The sharp blade is useful for cutting and chopping, while the hammer head is great for smashing. Each Ridder also carries a sword and lance at full armament. Each lance is mounted with flags: the top flag is either green or yellow to represent Mitgardia while the bottom flag represents the bearer's House. Erland's full banner includes both flags of Mitgardia atop his House flag.

    AoM: Stables Phase III

With the Winter snows here, Oran's Stables are finally completed: Check out the earlier phases: Phase II http://www.eurobrick...34#entry1715745, Phase I http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=87490#entry1714541 Let me know what you think!
  17. Farmer Maggot puts his horse to work. After the farmers cut the wheat and lay it in the wagon, the horse pulls the wagon to the mill. Here, Farmer Maggot threshes the wheat on the ground with his flail as his wife, Mme. Maggot, brings new wheat to thresh. Jaskin pours the wheat kernels onto the grind-stone and leads the horse around the grind-stone to roll the top stone over the wheat kernels to grind them into flour that will then be taken to the village bakery and used to make all sorts of delectable items to feed the people of Falkidalr. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- C&C welcome. Inspiration came from the Dark Age mill in Age of Empires 2 (with added Norse influence). My favorite parts of this build, and the most tedious, are the two sections of the roof. The LotR seats from the Council of Elrond make nice roof shakes, though they were somewhat tedious to attach. The stick portion proved even more tedious, as they cannot be all rigidly attached, since I wanted a tightly packed thatching of sticks.
  18. Floka's Fine Fabrics is a new addition to the market area of Ruadh. Though she's planning an expansion, proprietress Floka is currently using the building and yard as a showing space for the dyed linens and textiles she imports from her family in Mitgardia. Mitgardian cloth, especially dyed cloth, is highly prized throughout Kaliphlin and the thicker, woolier fabrics are the perfect solution to cold desert nights. You can't go very far in Ruadh without stumbling across artists at work. Here, a husband and wife practice a heady mix of Queenscross lyre and Rakathi calligraphy. So far, Floka has been able to manage with just the warehouse space and outdoor racking available to her. Though theft is not much of a problem in Ruadh, Floka worries that it will be as the village grows. If she keeps doing so well, she'll be too nervous to carry the day's earnings on her person back to her home where it is stored in a strongbox. Thankfully, her request for a foot patrol above the shop was approved. Floka tries her best to stock as many colors and styles as possible. Here comes a customer. Floka may look Kaliphlinite after long years away from home, but she's Mitgardian down to her bones. Even at her age, she lugs a hefty roll of dyed wool in preparation for a visiting noble's order. The strain barely shows in the corner of her mouth. The second of my Ruadh builds! Not as complex or difficult as the amphitheater, but nontheless plenty of fun. This pretty much exhausts my tan which is too bad as I'd like to do something more extensive in Kali at some point. Things I notice about this build that I'd fix next time would be: a better overhead pic as I did a nice carpeting thing on the roof in bright green and purple. I'd also remove the wooden plank flooring inside Floka's shop in favor of another carpety build, perhaps a cheese mosaic or something. I was not that ambitious this time around. Finally, I should have put in supports or otherwise bulked up the catwalk above the cloth racks. Looks a little flimsy as is. Anyway, thanks for looking! It's good to be back building GoH!
  19. Farmer Segir and his daughter Triafra check on the progress of their crops. Knowing summer is nearly over, Segir prepares to harvest his crops to store up for the winter. His small farm plot had very stony soil that had to be prepared. First, he cleared rocks from the plot and built a small retaining wall with the rocks and stones. After applying manure from his neighbor's cows and horses, the ground was prepared for growing a variety of crops. His prize mushrooms bring a nice price at the market in Falkidalr. Segir checks on his crops regularly because neighbor Farmer Maggot has reported that certain small fellows in the area are particularly fond of pilfered crops, especially mushrooms . Crops include: Corn Mushrooms Tomatoes Butternut Squash Cauliflower Leeks Constructive criticism is much appreciated. Thanks, Stian
  20. See the previous tales: Wyndor's Saga: Chapter 1 -What Has Past- Chapter 2 Part 10: A New Home Part 10.1:Blunted Edges Part 10.2: Cramped Spaces Part 10.3: Enthusiastic Worker Part 11.0 Part 11: Mysterious Death Part 12: Dark Meetings Part 13: Warm Yourself Part 14.1: Sisterly Visit Part 14.2: Proud Farmer Part 14.3: Mitgardian Household Part 15: Another Mysterious Death Part 16.1: The Council Meeting Part 16.2: Meeting with Wyndor (made by Glorfindel) Part 16.3: Feud in Teridyan Part 16.4: Great Elk Longhouse (made by Glorfindel) Part 16.5: Traveling Partners Part 17: The Cemetery Part 18: Home It was a clear Autumn day in Mitgardia. Snow was already starting to accumulate around the buildings where the shadows kept the sun away. For any Mitgardian it was the perfect weather. Valanice had already started to adjust to the cold temperatures and walked around without even noticing the cold as the rest of the city residents did. Her sisters though, found themselves shivering a little and they relished every chance they got to step indoors whenever they could. They visited the village bakery where Nora always seemed to have a worried expression on her face. Valanice explained to her sisters that it was because she was always worried that her husband was going to burn the bread. They spent the most time at the jeweler gazing at his selection of fine gems. They also walked past the blacksmith shop where the cooper had been busy banding barrels but was currently re-shoeing a horse. The girls had just finished looking at all the wares the stall owners had to offer and were listening to one of the local minstrels playing for coins and chatting with each other in the square. Valanice had picked up some food to add to their dinner and had been tempted at the one of the stalls to buy a new shovel from the dwarf that ran the shop. It would help her as she worked in the small garden around their house. There had been a lot of bustle amongst the dwarves of Dalig Ulv these days. Not only were they concerned about the recent deaths of their kind, but Valanice had also heard rumor that word had come from their council with some big decision. They were often seen huddled together discussing in animated tones. Valanice was just about to suggest to her sisters that they head back when a startled cry caught her attention. She turned to see a woman standing over an older dwarf elder and muttering under her breath. Valanice hefted her axe and prepared to charge the woman when two more women stepped up to block her path and with a flick of their wrists everyone around them was pushed back a few feet. All of a sudden four warriors rushed in to attack the three women. A half-dozen different blades were all rushing toward the nefarious women when Edea stopped focusing on the dwarf and added her mutterings to her sisters. All four warriors flew back with a burst of power. Just then, Natolyth ran up. He had just made it back to Dalig Ulv after his journey to Cedrica. He stood between the three sisters and the rest of the townsfolk with fireballs smoldering in his hands. “It’s been a long time Edea, since you had me enslaved, and I will not allow you to do likewise to any of these good people!” growled Natolyth. “I see you have not put the powers I gave you to waste Natolyth” answered Edea. “It is too bad you are not still under my control. I could do great things with your power.” “Enough!” Natolyth shouted, “I thought you were finished back in the cathedral, but obviously I did not do a good enough job of it.” “Oh, you exacted your toll well enough” said Edea, pulling back her hood and revealing her white hair. “It cost me much to recover from your attack. But my fight is not with you this time.” Turning to her sisters she said, “We have what we need, it’s time for us to go.” And with that they vanished. Valanice ran up to Natolyth and said, “You’ve arrived back home just in time!” “So it would seem” he replied. “But what is going to happen next?” OoC: I'll be claiming some HSS credits in this build for Bakery, Cooper, Blacksmith, Jeweler, and Minstrel.
  21. Sir Gareth left Avalonia in hope of uniting the four guilds against the Drow. He currently travels throughout Mitgardia in search of those strong enough and willing to join his cause. It was during these travels, that he discovered a small camp of Huns. Before the warriors willingly swore their loyalty, he challenged them to a test of their strength. While neither bested Sir Gareth, for he is a highly experienced knight, they did impress him. He cheerfully accepted their pledge of allegiance; delighted to recruit such skilled soldiers. I threw this together to show off my brand new Hun Warriors (I finally found a case of CMF Series 12 at Target ) I had a lot of fun building this and writing the story. My favorite part was posing the minifigures, but I enjoyed making the snow too. And finally, those Avalonians, Mitgardians, Kaliphlians, and Nocturnians wanting to join Sir Gareth's cause, please post your pledge of allegiance in the comments. For everyone that does, I will try to build a vignette of Sir Gareth meeting your character. The colours of Sir Gareth's flag are dark green, green, and red, as his army currently consists of Avalonians, Mitgardians, and Nocturnians. But as Kaliphlians join, I will add dark blue. Historica united can defeat the Drow once and for all! C&C are welcome!

    AoM: Archery Phase I

My father earns his title: Vitr Traust In the days before I was born, my father, Frode Vitr, became a well-known man in our community. A white wolf had presented itself a threat to Falkidalr when it attacked anyone found outside the walls. Elusive as a ghost, the wolf evaded all attempts on its life. Hunter after hunter failed to find and kill the wolf, until my father went hunting. He had found brush marks by a rocky outcropping near a river, so he waited nearby. He suspected that the wolf was using its own tail to wipe out its footprints. It did not take long before he heard thrashing in the underbrush. As he headed toward the sound, the wolf suddenly burst out and headed right for my father. Without hesitation, my father drew back his bow and released an arrow straight into the open mouth of the wolf. Upon returning with the wolf skin, my father was hailed a hero. Erland Blar himself awarded my father the title Vitr Traust, Drepa Vitr Ulfa (White Protection, Killer of White Wolf). Traveling Partners

See the previous parts of the story: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 After the incident in Teridyan, Wyndor and Glorfindel headed back towards Valholl. They walked through the hospitable landscape of Mitgardia. They walked past refreshing rivers. They helped those they found that could not help themselves. They faced some fearsome beasts... and handled them each in his own way. And soon found themselves nearing Valholl. Thank you to SK for starting this collab. It's been a lot of fun. I look forward to the conclusion! I wanted to try something a little different for this post. The smaller builds gave me some freedom to try some different ideas. This was also my first attempt at using colored backgrounds. Let me know what you think. Edit: I've listened to the feedback and made some changes and took some new pictures. The old pictures are in the spoiler.

    AoM: Stables Phase I

My grandfather teaches me to ride: Today, my grandfather thinks I have completed my riding training. He has shown me all he knows of riding and thinks it will not be long before I will become a Falki Ridder, just like my older brother Hammond. I hope I can be as brave as Hammond. He always was the adventurous hero in the family. As we head back to Falkidalr, I glance back and see the flags of Mitgardia and Erlnad Blar flying atop an outpost in the mountains. Then I look towards home. It has been a tiresome day completing my riding training, and my bed will be most welcome tonight! Stian Vitr AoM-StablesPhase1-2 by Slegengr, on Flickr Without Minifigures: AoM-StablesPhase1-3 by Slegengr, on Flickr -------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for looking. Constructive criticism is most welcome. I wanted this build to be a simpler background, styled after 3-d cartoon maps, while adding a forced perspective. I am not sure it is very forced other than the shrinking trees. Let me know what you think.

See the previous tales: Wyndor's Saga: Chapter 1 -What Has Past- Chapter 2 Part 10: A New Home Part 10.1:Blunted Edges Part 10.2: Cramped Spaces Part 10.3: Enthusiastic Worker Part 11.0 Part 11: Mysterious Death Part 12: Dark Meetings Part 13: Warm Yourself Part 14.1: Sisterly Visit Part 14.2: Proud Farmer Part 14.3: Mitgardian Household Part 15: Another Mysterious Death Part 16.1: The Council Meeting Part 16.2: Meeting with Wyndor (made by Glorfindel) Part 16.3: Feud in Teridyan Part 16.4: Great Elk Longhouse (made by Glorfindel) Part 17: The Cemetery Home With Wyndor out of town for several weeks, Valanice invited her sisters to come visit her from Avalonia. She had spent the past few years with her Uncle Richard learning what he had to teach her, but her sisters had remained with her parents. With the plague and the Drow dealt with for now, the road between Avalonia and Mitgardia was thought to be safe. Wyndor had built a large house for he and Valanice soon after they had moved to Dalig Ulv. Valanice enjoyed showing her sisters around and having their help in keeping house while Wyndor was away. Without figs: Comments are welcome! This is one of, if not the largest single building I've attempted to date. I'm happy with some parts, not so happy with others. Like the tower. I really don't like it. So if you have negative feedback on it, I'll probably agree with you. I was running out of bricks, and it was already fully integrated with the rest of the building so I couldn't take it out. So there you have it. Let me know what you think.
