  1. Somewhere in the frozen North, a brave Viking from Skaljarik battles a frozen sea serpent. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The beastie: And the warrior: So, a speedy entry to Cat B. My pieces/abilities don't lend themselves too well to creatures. I might try more beasties with some mixels joints. C+C welcome! Edit: the Viking is from Andrew Spaders town!
  2. Untitled by mlarbconnor, Every large city in Kaliphlin has a local Alchemist... Mysterious buildings that can supply many patrons with a variety of magic and scientific items. Nobody can claim to know everything an Alchemist is capable of... Untitled by mlarbconnor, From the creation of potions and tinctures... To the transmutation of lead to gold... Untitled by mlarbconnor, Kaliphlin Alchemists also pride themselves on the ability to turn common coal into precious gems. Untitled by mlarbconnor, Untitled by mlarbconnor, Even the Alchemist's small but well made personal quarters reflect more aspects of study; from cartography to medicine. 3. Hey all! Here's my latest build to share with you! It's a battleship from the Kyrrath army, that defends Kyrrath from dangers from the swamp... Here are the Pics: I hope you enjoy my build! C&C Welcome! Jaapxaap
  4. The lupo tower in the heart of Jeruna, a small province in Avalonia was built to watch over and protect the small but beautifull population of the Jerutscha wolf. But the Jerutscha wolf population has grown and they are no longer under protection. So the Lupo Tower has lost his initial function. The former guards from the Lupo Tower, stayed at the tower and lived a silent and happy live in harmony with the wolves! But with the rumors about the Algus, some clever Kaliphlin oil traders traveled around and tried to sell their overpriced oil. Also the Lupo tower crew get some oil. They don't know if the Algus really come to their peaceful land, but in case it would be nice to have some oil. Nothing tells from the cold of the north, and two Lupo men start even a BBQ on the middle floor of the tower. In their carelessness they also oversee the brother in his warm coat. What kind of news is he bringing from the north? ___________________________________________________________________________ Right side view Back view Left side view

    Feast with friends

Once a year there is a nice and private feast in Nocturnus. You only can join by a personal invitation. And with that you got a bow, which you have to wear during the feast. The best about that fest is as usual the food, but have a look by yourself: Smiling pig ;-)
  6. The agriculture of Kaliphlin is heavily dependent on irrigation. During the Civil War, many parts of this infrastructure was damaged. Since the cessation of hostilities, the City Council of Barqa has sponsored a rebuilding campaign of the irrigation canals in the Arkbri valley. Now finally again fresh water from the river can be diverted to the fields of the bread-basket of western Kaliphlin. Lord Gideon is inspecting the results of the repair works and rejoices when seeing that the fields are lush once more. A farmer adjusts the water flow to his fields, while his son is minding the goats on the other side of the canal. I'd also like to claim the following UoP credits: Countryside scene [Anthropology] Crop farming [Agriculture and Zoology]
  7. After the encounter with the Algus at the summer smithy, Frode and Stian ride speedily to warn Falkidalr of the approaching threat. Along the way, they pass two farmers with their pigs and alert them as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thanks for viewing! C&C are much appreciated. This build’s inspiring elements were the two techniques for trees, both for trunks and for foliage placement. They proved to be somewhat challenging, but I was pleased with the results. I will definitely be modifying or abandoning the slope-brick branches, as they are too jagged on the top, but I was quite satisfied with the SNOT plate branch. The deciduous and evergreen trees both are a satisfactory result for me, but they are too parts-intensive to replicate for an entire forest… -Slegengr P.S. Per numerous requests, I am adding a basic tutorial for the olive green small pine trees. The images show the individual components. The basic elements are the olive green foliage pieces and the black bar/clip combination piece in various arrangements. The base is the octagonal bar around the 2x2 studs. Bar clips are attached by the clip and the foliage pieces are slipped over the bar end. To alter the diameter, I simply replaced the octagonal bar with a chain of bar clips, using two rings with 6 bar clips each and three rings with 4 bar clips. By clipping a bar clip to the bar of each bar clip after making the bar clip chain (sorry if this is confusing), a bar end is left sticking out for the attachment of the foliage pieces. The top is completed by sliding a 1x1 black cone (stud down) to secure the rings and a bar clip with foliage piece onto the top of the lance to fill out the top. Due to the clip connection, the size of chain is unlimited and the angles for the foliage are unlimited (or nearly so). The foliage pieces can be rotated on the bar connection to add to the randomness of the organic shape. This technique and variants thereof are likely to show up in my future MOCs. Pictures to clarify explanation:

    Merchants Street, Barqa

Merchants Street, Barqa was a bustling street full of traders, merchants and hawkers. Now, after the civil war the street is comparatively lifeless, with few customers. Many stores are slowly declining and some of the very smallest have closed for the immediate future, their proprietors and staff picking up what work they can elsewhere. The few exceptions to this are the purveyors of food, clothing and weapons. The arms trade however is now beginning to go into a decline now the civil war is ended, most of there trade is now with rich travellers from other guilds. This portion of the street contains the Merchants Hall, an Arms and Armour retailer and a purveyor of clothing. Thanks to Gideon for allowing me to build in his city.
  9. In the far north of Mitgardia there exist a species of ice dragon, they originally helped keep the Algus at bay but the tables have now been turned and they are now being hunted by the Algus.

Edit: Sorry the title should read Rakath Mountains Jail not Rakish. Auto correct. Could a someone please fix this. Entry into the CCC XIII. Set in the Rakath mountains of Nocturnus.

    Barqa Merchants Hall

The Barqa merchants hall is a hub for the rich (and not particularly famous) merchants and traders of Kaliphlin, who still remain prosperous after the disastrous civil war. Also an entry into the CCC XIII.

    Angus Hunting

A trio of Mitgardians take the fight to the invaders from the Frozen Beyond and ambush a lone Algus. While simple fire and hard steel is enough to take down these simple foot soldiers it will be a lot harder to defeat their icy sorcerers. Figless: Notes: This was just a quick build I made to get warmed up for the Frozen Beyond challenge. C & C appreciated

    Heart Grove

Hello guys, I have not been very active in the GoH over the last year after the "Age of Mitgardia - Military" contest. Now I have managed to build something that would fit for GoH again and I hope that more will follow in the future. Though I am in the guilds of Mitgardia, I hope I am allowed to post a creation that is more Avalonia-based. "The Heart Grove is an ancient place where the Elves of the woods worship the gods of nature. Heart Grove by Jonas O., auf Flickr I hope you like it! C&C welcome!
  14. Entry in the miscellaneous small creation category of CCC XIII This may end up being part of a series were I make a small MOC featuring a part of each of the four Guilds.
  15. Out in the woods of Mitgardia, Frode Vitr built a small hut to live in during summer to work at his smithing outside. A bellows forge was built nearby to heat pieces of metal for shaping, along with an anvil and quenching tub of water. Steel pieces of a wide allotment are kept around for various projects, some of which are in various stages of completion. The hut serves Frode and Stian well for simple living quarters when they are working, as it provides protection from the weather and a safe place to store bedding and food. When word came that there were invaders, called the Algus, moving in from the Frozen Beyond, Frode’s skills were requested in making weapons and armor for Falkidalr. Frode heats four swords to finish shaping the blades. Stian works the bellows to blast the coal into blazing embers to speed up the heating process. Their two dogs, Koryn and Jaryn, are constant companions. The dogs also provide a watch to alert of danger… such as when three Algus scouts are seen approaching the hut! The icy invaders appear a threat, but Frode quickly grabs the coal shovel and scoops up some hot coals. Dashing the coals in the face of the frontmost scout, Frode sees the scout disappear in a cloud of steam. The first scout was reduced to a pile of armor in a pool of coal and water. With no time to lose before the second scout would be upon him, Frode grabs two of the heated-blade swords from the forge. He yells Stian’s name to inform him of the plan, but the name is enough information as Stian runs toward the forge. Charging the advancing scout, he swings to parry the scout’s attack. The hot blade slices right through the icy haft of the scout’s pike! Following through on his strike, Frode slashes the other blade, beheading the scout with the searing steel. Stian grabs the other two heated blades to aid his father. As Frode’s blades cool, he steps back to allow Stian, with blazing hot blades, to confront the third scout. Stian’s quick left-hand strike shatters the shield of the heavily armored scout… Followed shortly thereafter with a thrust directed into the eye-slot of the Algus’ helmet, dispatching the invader with a hiss of steam and a clatter of its falling axe. Frozen invaders are no match for heated steel! “They have come this far south!” shouts Frode as they drop the cooled blades. “Likely, there is an approaching army of Algus that will reach Falkidalr soon. We must warn them!” Stian and Frode run for their horses. Not to be left behind, Koryn and Jaryn run with Stian and Frode to sound the alert. The smithing site is left in disarray with the battle rubble as the men and dogs rush to warn Falkidalr. Additional Pictures: Figless Overview: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for looking! C&C is much appreciated. Sorry for so many pictures, but this is my first true story-build. I needed many pictures to show what was going on. -Slegengr

    Life in Araluen

A trio of Avalonian soldiers return to Araluen from Kaliphalin, where they were stationed during the civil war. Now that the fighting has died down and their captain has recovered from the attempt on his life they finally made their way back home to the vast forests of Avalonia. Nearby, a trio of Araluen town guardsmen explore the underground network of tunnels left by the Drow and Dwarves. They have been tasked with exploring and mapping out the tunnel systems near Araluen so that they can be used by the Avalonian. Neither the guards or the makers of these tunnels ever realized how close they came to finding the resting place of a magnificent ancient beast. Here is a shot of the tunnel from the other side Notes: All the underground scenes in these builds were built about a year ago, and i had planned to put my Task 5 castle on top( All the builds are connected, with the tunnel on the left, the forest in the middle, and the bones on the left), but then i lost interest in it and it sat around for a long time, until i eventually decided that the castle wasn't up to my standards anymore, so I tore it down( I really, really needed the pieces). I kept the underground scenes since I liked them, and I tried to come up with a use for it for a while, but recently I decided to just photograph the good parts as separate builds. I also built the forest scene in the middle in another attempt to finish the whole scene, but quickly gave up and decided to only make a small scene with it. C & C welcome

    Boneville town square

Previously Preparing for Trouble Visiting Allies Into Nocturnus Entrance of Boneville Mage has finally completed his journey and reached the Nocturnian village of Boneville. In the town square he meets the Shadowmere ambassador and discusses the possibility of an alliance between Shadowmere and Araluen. The town square: The monument in the center of the village depicts a scene from ancient times where an unnamed skeleton hero defeated the evil wizard that ruled this land and later founded the village of Bonevile, which was named in his honor. The town square houses a bustling marketplace full of shops, including this Used weapons shop shown below. A guard watches from the walkway I would like to claim the following UoP/DoH credits: Landscape design- studs up rocks and cliffs Anthropology- life in Nocturnus C & c appreciated.
  18. Previous Chapter: The Kelra --- Next Chapter: Dubbed Captain (Warning, this chapter is long) Aeldric tread carefully and silently through the dark labyrinth. The thought that almost any of your nightmares existed in there lingered quite long in his mind. He took a gulp at each corner, dreading what may be beyond. He crept up to his hundredth corner, and peeked to the hallway. He saw a large figure. A large set of silver armor, with a blue mist emanating from inside it walked slowly with a huge sword dragging on the ground. He stepped on a small twig which snapped, and the armor turned towards Aeldric with a fury. Aeldric had no other choice but to assault it. He ran with the fury of a Minotaur. The possessed armor raised the huge sword with a single arm, which took Aeldric by surprise, and he nearly backed down, but with the resolve of a ranger, he kept on his fury. The armor ran back at him. Aeldric was nearly run over, but he jumped to the wall, and bounced off behind the armor. The suit turned around instantly, and began a heavy swing towards Aeldric. But the armor was not fast enough, for Aeldric had knocked the armor's helmet off with his sword. The helmet dropped to the ground and shattered, and the spirit possessing the armor fled from the suit. Now, to get out of the Kelra. [Later, after exiting the Kelra, and entering Nocturnus, Aeldric enters the large fortress of Axtrous the night lord...] Aeldric stepped forth, upon the grand rug which led to Axtrous' coffin throne. Two orc guards stood by, completely ignoring Aeldric. "I call upon the Night lord." Aeldric said, with a strange confidence. He jumped as the lid to the coffin jerked open as fast as lightning. "What brings you here, Aeldric son of Kaedric?" Axtrous said, with a dark, impending voice. He stood up out of his coffin. "I have come to avenge Aurthal and my family." Aeldric said. "Then let us fight like real men." Axtrous said. Aeldric threw his sword to the side, and rushed towards the vampire. As soon as Aeldric came close enough, Axtrous grabbed him by the neck and leg, and flipped him over himself and into his coffin. Aeldric then stumbled out of the sarcophagus and began a second rush at Axtrous. When he reached Axtrous, Aeldric only relieved a powerful punch to the chest, which sent him flying, and hitting the coffin. After he hit the coffin, Axtrous slowly approached. A black spear formed in his hand, and he prepared to sheath it in Aeldric's corpse. Aeldric quickly grabbed his sword by his side, stood up, and jabbed it up Axtrous' throat. He choked, as blood began to leak out of his skin pores. Aeldric shoved the sword further in, and the head came off, stuck to the blade. He reveled in his victory, and the two orcs fled out the fortress. Aeldric had left a nice present for Lord Raavage to find. ----- Ok guys, sorry about the poor quality of the second build. I really just didn't know what to put in a large throne room. Plus the freebuild is mainly focused on the Kelra. C & C Welcome! P.S. I would have put tiles down, if i had had enough.
  19. Recently three GoH members (Myself, I Scream Clone and Frumpy) collaborated together on a build for a local Sydney show. Shadow Woods 06 by Dr. Rod, on Flickr The left side is by I Scream Clone, the forest by myself and the right side by Frumpy. The diorama shows a Nocturnus and Avalonian castle, separated by the "Shadowpath Forest". Location is the North west corner of Nocturnus, in the foothills of the Rakath Mountains. Will link to more detailed photos when available. Shadow Woods 03 by Dr. Rod, on Flickr Dr Rod
  20. Previous Chapter: The Burnt Roads --- Next Chapter: Vampire Slayer Aeldric had left his horse behind, as the vines had begun to entangle it. There was no hope for the poor animal, so Aeldric put it out of it's misery. Aeldric strode cautiously up to a tall entrance to a dark hallway. He'd heard stories of the Kelra, but he had no knowledge of it's impending aura of fear. Thorny vines grew across the battered walls, mutilated frogs and spiders, covered in fungus crawled around just outside the labyrinth. Aeldric forced the aura of dread out of his mind and walked confidently into the dark maze. A frog particularly interested in Aeldric: The remains of a sorry adventurer: The build without minifigs: And the build without vines and animals: --- Here i thought i shouldn't detail the wall too much if i'm just going to cover it with vines, so thus i didn't bother too much with it. I didn't feel too inspired for the terrain, so i just laid out some dead leaves and such. C & C Welcome!
  21. Previous Chapter: Voraal leaves Avalonia --- Next Chapter: The Kelra And thus Aeldric was off to Nocturnus, to avenge not only Aurthal, but his family as well. He crossed many ruins of times' past. He wondered what structures many of them served as. He passed a few dead looking vines that seemed to reach out towards him. He looked far off into the distance, and saw the ominous and towering Rakath Mountains. He knew he would have to pass through the Kelra Labyrinths to get to Axtrous' dwelling, but he had confidence. --- So guys, i'm not sure how i should present Aeldric's journey through the Labyrinth, perhaps some of you Nocties could give me some insight. Anyways, C&C are welcome.
  22. A border outpost is one of the first defenses a village can have. High enough to view a large area around the village, the lookouts in the outpost are able to keep an eye on goings-on. If the need arises, a messenger can quickly travel from the outpost to the village to warn the people of danger. Near Falkidalr, an outpost is constructed as a preliminary defense. Built on log stilts, the outpost towers above nearby hills and forests. A thatched roof reinforced with leather-covered decorative shields covers the top to keep out snow and rain. To accommodate the watchmen, a tent is provided for sleeping and a fire with a pot and tripod is provided for cooking food. A fence surrounds the base camp to provide a barrier to the native fauna and flora. Weapons and armor are kept on a rack in case of need. Now, the village of Falkidalr will not be easily surprised by any invading danger. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for viewing! Comments and Constructive Criticism are appreciated. The inspiration for this build came from AoM, but the inspiring ideas were the SNOTed logs and the leaf pieces hanging on the grass stems. The tripod over the fire proved to be challenging, but I liked the results. -Slegengr
  23. Previous Chapter: Rest in the Tavern --- Next Chapter: Voraal leaves Avalonia Aeldric walked up the steep steps into the Aegis realm. The shift to the dimension was seamless. It felt like walking into a room. Three heroic looking people sat at a round table with a compass in the middle. In the center, sat an elf dressed in a long gray robe. To the elf wizard's right, sat Avdar, the leader of the Rangers of Avalonia. To the elf's left, sat a fairly old looking fellow, dressed in a green tunic. "Aeldric has arrived, Vorthentus." Avdar said to the elf wizard. "Ah, i've heard much about you, Aeldric." said Feowind, the hunter. "Tell us why you are here, Aeldric." said Vorthentus, in a calm, but stern voice. "I have come to seek the council of the Warrior, the Wizard, and the Hunter. Avdar represented the Warrior, Vorthentus was reminiscent of the Wizard, and Feowind was the symbol of the Hunter. This was the Council of the Three. "What counseling do you seek?" Vorthentus inquired. "I have found a Nocturnus trespasser in the forests beyond the city of Vanhorn. The trespasser was a vampire, and he fled back to his homeland. He was responsible for slaying my family. I have come to ask if it is wise to chase after him." Aeldric said. The Three pondered this. Avdar spoke first. "This is straying from your duties back in the forests. It would not concern you." he said. "But it does concern me, he took part in the death of my family!" Aeldric revolted. "If you go after him, your ranking will be stripped from you!" Avdar exclaimed. "It was his family, Avdar." Feowind remarked. "Yes, but that does not concern his current profession!" the Warrior and the Hunter argued on, until the wise Wizard stood up from his throne. "Silence!" he exclaimed, as the area darkened with a black cloud. The cloud soon dispersed, and Vorthentus said his part. "It is my choice wether or not he goes." he said to Avdar and Feowind. He turned to Aeldric with apologetic eyes. "I am sorry for their rambling, Aeldric. If you feel this vampire lord deserves a dark fate, then it is your duty to assert your vengeance upon him. Go, travel to Nocturnus, find him, and avenge your family." he said. Aeldric bowed deeply before the council, and walked back into the realm of Historica. Ok guys, here i tried to get a "floating stone bricks" look. Kind of an anti gravity feel, but not completely. I've built a ton of builds over the summer, but haven't been able to post them until now, so if you feel like i am putting out too many builds, that's why. C & C welcome, though there isn't that much to post on. I tried to put tiles around, but as usual, i didn't have enough to cover the whole area. Thanks!
  24. Previous Chapter: The Aegis Council --- Next Chapter: The Burnt Roads (Warning, this chapter is LONG) Ansriff had met Voraal at the tavern and led him deep into the forest. "Yes, she's deep within the woods. Apparently, i've met her before." Ansriff said. "What? Where?" Voraal inquired. "It was back on one of my patrols, Avdar and i were on lookout for drows, but what we found was much worse. A pyromancer had been torturing a little girl, searing her skin with fire. Avdar snook up behind the maniac and sheathed his sword right in the pyro's throat. I then went to wrap up the injured girl in my cloak, and we brought her back to Vanhorn to heal her. But before we left the area, the pyromancer's staff sent some weird red aura into the girl. I spoke naught of it to Avdar, for i feared for the girl." Ansriff explained. "What's her name?" Voraal asked. "Temari, she called herself." Voraal nodded to Ansriff. "Thank you, here's your silver." he handed a heavy sack of coins to Ansriff. He refused. "No thank you. Take as a favor from a friend. Besides, i never got you a birth day present in the last ten years." Ansriff said. Voraal smirked, and walked up to a small paved area with a thin dark figure standing in the middle, chanting what sounded to Voraal gibberish. He coughed politely, and Temari jerked herself to turn to Voraal. "H...hello." Voraal said nervously. Temari brushed her hair away from her face. "What are you doing here?" "I came to find you." Voraal said. Temari narrowed her eyes. "Who sent you?" she asked. "Myself." Voraal replied, with a glint in his eye. "Why did you come to find me?" Voraal stood idle for a moment. "Because, i found beauty in you, despite your dark magic. "I am a pyromancer, not a sorceress. But, i thank you for your loving thought." she said. "I know how you received your flame." Voraal said. "How?!" Temari exclaimed. "One of my Ranger friends found you, after being tortured by a pyromancer, and they took you back to the city." Voraal said. "Oh, Ansriff. He was like a father to me, until i ran away out of anxiety. I learned to live with my curse, the curse of the flame." she said. "Together, i can help you heal this curse." Voraal stepped closer. "Would you? After you saw that i served Axtrous? He killed the tribal elf." Temari remarked. "Yes. I have no care for those elves." Voraal replied. Temari stepped a bit closer, and held Voraal's right hand with her left. The road was long to Kaliphlin, but Voraal and Temari made a great distance. Temari's home was in the Siccus Badlands. She lived in a large cave where she practiced her pyro magic. Together they would live in peace in Kaliphlin. --- Hey guys, sorry if any of you thought this was a long chapter. I just wanted to push Voraal out of Aeldric's story as fast as possible, as Aeldric will be recruiting new rangers in the following months. C & C welcome.
  25. Previous Chapter: The Chambers of the Nightlord --- Next Chapter: The Aegis Council Aeldric and Voraal dropped themselves off in the tavern in Vanhorn. Aeldric ordered a quart of ale, and Voraal mingled with some guests. "Ah, Ansriff." Voraal said to a man in the corner. "Voraal? It's been so long!" Voraal and Ansriff had been friends for seventeen years. "Yes, it has. I understand you earn your profit from accepting tasks from the citizens?" Voraal asked. "Yes, indeed. Do you need me to perform a task for you?" Ansriff asked. "Yes, in fact, i need you to find a woman, black robes, long wavy, black hair. I heard she'd been seen in the forests just outside of town, and with your former ranger skills, i think you'd be able to find her." Voraal requested. "Oh, so it's a love story?" Ansriff joked. "Well, your not exactly wrong... I'll pay you five pounds of silver." Voraal offered. "Deal." they shook hands. "When i find her, i'll report back here." Ansriff said. "Thank you. It was nice seeing you." "You to, Voraal." Voraal strode over to the bar beside Aeldric, who'd drank five bottles of ale. "Who was that queer looking fellow you were talking-" he hick upped "with?" "Ansriff, one of our former rangers." Voraal replied. "Ah, i remember him." the two went on talking. Hey guys, sorry there wasn't a larger picture of the build. Still kinda mainly story here, but i did include a bit more detail than the first Avdar's Office. C & C welcome.
