  1. Part II: Scouting The scout, Pojk, that was send out by Nar Bilu encountered the Kaliphlin army on his way north. Fortunately he didn’t get exposed, but it alerted him enough to follow their trail back to Bow’s Arch. From a distance he observed the whole scene. Disgusted by the betrayal of the elves he seeks out two of his kin, which he sends out to the two legions that Nar Bilu send away. He arranges a secret spot at the most northern edge of Hemresa, called Norrhorn”, where the scouts will report back to him, before he leaves the island. Only hours later both of them return with the bad news, that both legions were also slaughtered. A few men return with the scouts, but not more than a hand full. Pojk sends the two scouts to deliver a message to Albion, both to follow a different path, to improve the odds of at least one reaching our capitol. He then talks to the elder of the footmen, they agree to be loyal to Nar Bilu and wait just outside the borders of Hemresa for further instructions. A trade ship with an odd flag docked in a sandbank on the most northern point of Norrhorn, in plain view of Pojk and the few footmen, he decided to take with him. They managed to reach the ship through the waves of the ocean. The captain shouts, the oars decent and the ship backs out of the sand, back into the ocean. The sail bulbs, catching wind and swirls around its axis. Like a sword through tender lambs meat the ship sails the waters between Hemresa and the in fog concealed island of Norra. Pojk, who is not a real seafarer, is relieved that the journey is a still and easy one. They dock. A few curious boys come running towards the ship, jumping on board to be chased away by some of the stout men from below deck. Every end has a new beginning Pojk can’t believe his eyes. A complete village arises from the, with ships filled, docks. The sailors escort Pojk to the main hall, where the footmen are pulled to the inn. Beer and meat are served continuously. The escort introduced Garl the Great to the visitor, next to Garl sits a young lad. That would be me, Bran Narbilusson. As my name announces, the son of Narbilu. Pojk hands me the sealed note which my father gave to him and tells us the unfortunate story of the past weeks ending with the betrayal of the elves. I hardly can control my feelings. I retire to my quarters. Within minutes Bog enters without notice. Me: We have to avenge my father’s death and conquer back what is rightfully mine to begin with. Garl: You are right and we will, soon, but not now. Me: [looking disappointed]. Garl: Don’t be my boy, I promised to keep you save until adulthood. That is what I will do. Me: [now smiling, cause that’s only two weeks away]. Garl: I will prepare the men to war after Yull. They will fight better with filled stomachs and high morale. Me: Thanks chief. With that said, Garl leaves me for mourning, not too long though. That night, a miracle happened. A survivor In a small storage, deep in the forest of Hemresa far away from civilisation, a local called Knæl pulls a man on his quickly emptied table. He searches his cabin for jars, herbs and other stuff with haste, while his wife binds the wounds of the in blood soaked man. They need a hammer and chisel to remove the dented armour, but soon enough they freed the victim of his restrains. Two days, the cabin sheds green light out of every crack, window or other opening, supported by chanting and continues rune writing. The woman rubs ointments one the open wounds, washes his pale lifeless looking face and wets his mouth with a damp cloth. After the two days, both take a rest on their bench outside their cabin. Suddenly they hear coughing coming from inside. They rush back in, to see the man on their table was breathing heavily, but steady. The woman grabs some bread and pours a cup full with water. The man collects his strength to sit up right, still with his eyes half closed. The offered beverage and food is binged away and by the end of the midday the man has enough energy to stand up and start to talk. The man can’t remember his name, and Kræl isn’t going to tell him what it is. That way he will be saver on Hemresa. They talk for hours, but the man can’t wait to leave. Some things he does remember, one being that he lives on an island up north. Kræl offers him a robe, in return the man asks the two to join him. With the recent events on Hemresa, they start packing without hesitance. to be continued... go to part 1

    Hidden Garden's Church

Here we are with another freebuild: Hidden Garden's Church. I wanted to build for one time something religious and so I come up with this: a church with adjacent a small cemetery with tombstones and crosses. Ah, and I know I used yellow and flash minifig but I didn't want to change all of them to one color and I like it anyway. This is part of the Avalonian Task 4 - Historican Settlements in the category Religious: Chapel, Monastery, Temple, Shrine, in particularly as a Chapel. C&C are always welcome and I hope you Enjoy it! Hidden Garden haven't a real church as a detailed religion; every citizen had the greatest freedom, as long as he or she didn't go to bother too much the rest of the inhabitants or threatened the safety of the population and of the entire state. The church of Hidden Garden is therefore more of a gathering place than a whorship place, even if there are still some liturgical functions. It is located in an separated area from the main village and it is slightly higher than Hidden Garden, so from the adjacent cemetery is possible to observe the whole village that is nevertheless becoming more a small town than a village. In this sunny day, Alexander Vandangant accompanies Lyanna to meet Amos Graverascal that will held a function; Alexander isn't very religious but he didn't miss the opportunity of being able to accompany Lyanna and have a chat with Amos, always interesting. They are not the only, others people of Erila have come to attend the function and speak with Amos....
  3. Word of the author ::: I also finished part 2::: go to part 2 In order to link my character Nar Bilu to my newly obtained ideas and storyline, I wrote a story. Hopefully fun to read and backed up by small builds. I recently finished the story and found the time this weekend to start building the scenes. Enjoy: I am Bran and I am going to tell you what happened in Hemresa just after the battle over Avalonia was fought. The end of an era The shadow that has been torturing Avalonia is breaking up by the morning sun, pushing away clouds and revealing a beaten up land. Around a extinguished campfire just outside the massive hole leaking out of the Hembrugga walls, Nar Bilu and a handful of his henchmen evaluate the fight, while a group of volunteers remove the casualties from the battlefield. Drow are thrown in the river and the slain Avalonians are given a proper burial. Every hour another scout arrives and join the evaluation, each with the same story about their journey into the designated outskirt of Hemresa. Fortresses are destroyed, fields are burned, forests are chopped down, villages are abandoned and the surviving folk living there are scattered around our country finding salvage wherever they can. Nar Bilu divides the remaining men in three regiments, one to follow him to the site where Bow’s Arch was going to be built, one to recruit local builders and folk who are still loyal to Nar Bilu and the last is send to Albion to do the same and inform the Lords of Avalonia of the current status of Hemresa. Now the infestation of the plaque and the drow are suppressed, Hemresa can be rebuild. Nar Bilu feels, despite of the victory, lost. So many died for nothing, so much is destroyed. It will take a decade to fertilize these lands again. Horses are packed, carts are loaded, men are armed and with a commander in front of them, they leave and wave Hembrugga goodbye. Nar Bilu enters the great hall and thanks the Elven Kings for their support before he leaves. After a days travel, the regiment arrives at the building site of Bow’s Arch. Nothing but sand, rocks and ruins. They set camp in the ruin of the warehouse, where they start planning. Night set, Nar Bilu was one of two not sleeping. He gave a secret order to the scout, who swiftly left in the woods. In the meantime Only an hour after the Avalonians left the sight of Hembrugga, two delegations arrive. One carrying a red and the other a blue flag, both supported by the colours of Avalonia. They are welcomed inside the gates. Once inside, they are summoned for an audition at the Kings. The leaders, both with one commander sit around a large table in the great hall, together with the King Elder and his commander. The Kaliphlin lord, Azural Djun, rides in red with his legion of lions. A strategist with lust for battle. But his lust for gold is even bigger and this is what the elves promised him. He will be duke of Hemresa if they will follow the Kings wishes. When they control Hemresa, he will be made responsible for tax collecting and keeping order on the island. The Midgardian tradesman, Gorl Weighn, sails with a blue flag. Wealth can never be great enough. The road between Avalonia and the Enchanted Forest will be the pearl of his empire. Elven resources from the west and Dwarven craftsmanship from the northeast makes a damn good profit. The Kings promises both men control of their part of Hemresa in return for the removal of the sitting Lord and loyalty to the elves. After some small struggles on rules and compensations, the company agrees. Losing a leader Dawn is breaking, a bright sun sets upon the coastline to the west, while a horn clangs from the east. Alerting everyone in the camp. Shields up, swords pressed into fists, bows strung with the arrowheads pointed over the first line of defence. From the eastern hill arises a red flag, pikes and a strange looking cavalry. The first batch of arrows seem to miss their target, we just weren’t prepared for battle. Before we could even march towards the opponent, the first line was killed by the fearless pikemen of the lions. Fortunately our swordsmen had more success. We pushed them back into the open field, making both of us vulnerable, but we still had an advantage in numbers. On both sides men fell. The fight didn’t take long. The lions pulled back, forcing us further away from our camp. That is when we got outflanked. Out of the blue... the blue came from the south. Golden crowns on their shields, crossbow bolts piercing us from the side. We were surprised and we paid the toll. Before midday, Nar Bilu stood surrounded by a small dozen of his own men cornered by two regiments, on a pile of corpses, awaiting his fate. But the two opponents stood still, when the sun was blocked by a dark cloud. Unfortunately is was no actual cloud. A hail of elven arrows landed in the remaining men of the Hemresa Legion. Nar Bilu looked up when the cloud hit him in the chest, shoulders and back. Kneeled on the ground he watched how the two leaders took down their flags and raised the green flags of Avalonia. ... to be continued

    Eddy the Farmer's Barn

Here we are with another MOC: Eddy the farmer's barn. You will remember Eddy the farmer from my previous MOC Eddy the farmer's field; I builded this MOC as a "commission" for a friend here on Eurobricks: he needed a barn for a project and asked for help, I replied and I builded this for him, he was quite happy about the result. The structure remained the same but all the minifig changes. It depicts the action going on in a typical day of work in one of the farm of Eddy: we can see people cleaning the barn and taking care of the horses, a boy feeding the poultry, Adam back from grazing the cows and Eddie wandering as usual through his possessions. This is a part of Task 4 - Historican Settlements in the category Agricolture - Livestock: Farm. I'd like to claim 1 credit for Agricolture and Zoology: raising livestock in the The University of Petraea's Doctorate of Historica Program. C&C are always welcome and I hope you Enjoy it!
  5. [ Work in process ] For my storyline I started to making my largest MOC so far... also the first time I bought on Bricklink especially for this project. Norra, is the island northeast of Hemresa. The story about this forgotten Mystic Island, will follow soon. [ week 1 ] - planning and making the ocean [ week 2 ] - beach and cliffs [ week 3 ] - first signs of civilization and a forest (out of green bricks) [ detailshots week 3 ] Pallisade and first building (not yet satisfied) Forest edge and Menhir with the runes of the fallen kings Waterfall - not yet satisfied with the steam leading to the waterfall The Vykr - the merchant ship pulled by wind or four stout men Progress: I will keep this post up to date after each weekend where I had time to build. I really hope, it will fit somehow in the next fase of the GoH story. Any tips and suggestions are always welcome. I really can't decide... What should I do? 1) wood based buildings or 2) stone based buidlings?
  6. Before you, you see a busy corner of the Kaliphlinite market in the Trifork. Situated in the old town amidst the Kaliphlinite neighbourhood surrounding the South Gate, it offers all the heart may desire in both exotic and common goods. People of all kinds frequent the market to trade or to seek anonymity amongst the masses for more or less shadowy business. Frederick the Fishmonger is hawking his wares, while a travelling baker is trying to get the attention of the visitors: "I bet you a nice, fine loaf o' bread would go nicely with that fishie, Ma'm!" The visiting elf sends a dissaproving glance towards the traders and their sales strategies. Nearby, the master of the Kaliphlinite Market Gold Exchange offers his services in exchanging the multitude of currencies brought to the market from the people passing through from all corners of Historica. All that matters here is the weight in gold. Passing through, a leander soldier is amused by the bustle of the marketplace. Please let me know what you think of this vignette. I quite like it, and think I got a good deal of life into a small space. (Which proved smaller than expected...) I hope I captured the Kaliphlinite feel quite well, although I would have liked some more space to put in more developed market stands. I experienced a bit with photoediting, which is why there is some difference in colours/etc. between the pictures. A specific detail: The scales - I couldn't seem to find any examples of others building scales, but I think it turned out reasonably well, although the stand is still bugging me. Further, I would like to claim the following UoP credits: Anthropology - life in Kaliphlin (Although it happens in Avalonia, the influence is heavily Kaliphlinite - Let me know if that is acceptable.) Trade and Law - marketplace Thanks for looking!
  7. Here's a build I've been working on the last couple days. I've decided I'm going to make a circuit of Historica, and try building in each of the guilds. To start off, I've done a build in Kaliphlin, depicting an unknown battle from it's history. Without figs: Up close of the double tusked War Elephant: Sorry about the not so good photography, I had to photograph indoors, so my lighting wasn't ideal. I tried taking the pictures right under a window, but it didn't really seem to help much. And then when I viewed the pictures on my laptop, they looked slightly out of focus. I hope you can enjoy the MOC anyways! Edited to add some better/adjusted pictures.

    Ancient tower

Shortly after crossing into his territory Lord Dan received a letter, sent by magical means, from his friend Mage. Inside were directions to a meeting location... At the location specified in the letter they found an ancient ruined tower, which the quickly proceeded to explore. Dan walked through the first room, noting that scavengers and time had robbed the room of nearly all decoration, leaving only piles of rubble. He climbed the staircase to the second floor, where Mage was waiting to greet his old friend. A Wandering Merchant

Wandering Merchant 1 by lorddan413, on Flickr Lord Dan and his company are still traveling through Avalonia, towards the land he has claimed as his territory and after a long journey, they are getting close. A few miles before the proposed border of the territory of Legoaywr they spot a lone wagon. The owner of the wagon is at first tense and slightly hostile, but once he realizes that Lord Dan means him no harm he relaxes and becomes quite friendly. He reveals that he is a wandering merchant, traveling from place to place to sell his wares. Lord Dan has his men bring out the gold and they start shopping... Mount Up! The Lesser Rustwing

In some of the more heavily forested areas of Avalonia, there is a breed of mid sized dragon known as the Lesser Rustwing. Their relatively small size allows them to agilely navigate the trees of their habitat. Over time, the elves have learned to domesticate these mighty beasts, and to use them for transportation when horses would be too slow, as well as beasts of war.
  12. Greetings, Historicans I am working on putting my lands on the map, and in that process, I have built the farm presented below. I am quite happy with it, but as always, landscaping isn't my strongest side. I have tried photographing in the sun, which I think turned out reasonably well. I am still new here and eager to learn, so please let me know what you think. In the lands of the Trifork, in Avalonia, near the border to Kaliphlin and the heartlands of Historica surrounding Cedrica, even peace is unruly. Living outside the protective walls of the Trifork itself is risky at best, with Outlaws from several lands, mercenaries between hires, as well as all sorts of shady types roaming the lands, on their way by the busy roads that links so much of Historica. Consequently, the few who dares, and even fewer who succeeds, are bound to reap great benefits off the lush riverlands. One such man is Ser William Drake, recent heir of Drakeshome Manor, a fortified countryside mansion in the midst of some of the most fertile lands of Historica. The entrance to the manor is at the foot of the stone tower, through a heavy, iron hinged oak door under a strong stone arch. The small windows of the tower are barred with sturdy metal bars, and it is evident that only a determined and well-equipped enemy will be able to breach its way into the manor. From the battlements of the third floor of the tower, the defenders will be able to rain arrows and stones unto anyone daring to try, delaying the attackers for long enough for reinforcements to arrive from the Trifork. At the back, two residential wings rest upon the stone barns, in which the cattle and pigs are kept safe from the elements. Drakeshome is one of the main producers of beef, dairy, and pork in the area, selling their wares almost exclusively at the markets of the Trifork. But Drakeshome Manor delivers more than livestock, as its fields on the lush riverplains have some of the highest yields of corn, grain, and turnip. At harvest, volunteers in great numbers arrive from the Trifork and beyond, helping to bring the invaluable foodstuffs home. Below a few more pics: The build is modular, to allow access to the (sparse) interior. The tower also comes off. Here the base of the build with all modules removed. I would like to claim the following UoP Credits: Agriculture and Zoology three of: crop farming raising livestock Further, this should count as Agriculture - Grains and Produce and Agriculture - Livestock for the HSS task. C&C more than welcome.
  13. Hello all, this is my latest freebuild: Graybridge bottleneck. After building Setting an ambush... and the trap is sprung! I wanted to build some medieval finished things and I thought that it would be nice to see as it was or it will be, who knows, the same location. The Graybridge bottleneck, an obligatory passage on the main street which goes through Erilea, is fortified and strictly controlled by a permanent garrison, whose task is to monitor the comings and goings on th street below. This fortification is a key point for anyone trying to conquer Erilea. C&C are always welcome and I hope you Enjoy!

    Freebuild: Plain raid

Plains ambush by lorddan413, on Flickr Lord Dan and his company of men are traveling through a vast plain, miles and miles of low grass, the only variance is turfs of grass here and there. Several days have passed since they first set out and they are making good progress. Lord Dan: Will! My horse is getting restless, I'm going to loop back behind the wagon and ride around for a little while. I'll be back there if you need me. General Will: ( to himself: sure, it's the horse that's restless) Ok, but make sure you don't get too far back. This grass all looks the same. A few minutes later... The Sir Robert and General Will are idlely chatting Sir Robert: So what do you think it will be like? General Will: I'm not sure, from the vauge description on the map it seems to be like most of Avalonia, with plenty of forested areas, lushious grasslands, you know, a typical forest getaway. But I did notice a small mention of a few hills, so there could also be some nice rocky areas. More idle converstation, but then General Will notices movement in the grass. General Will: (In a low voice) Don't look now, but I think there's men hidden in the grass. They're dressed in the same green as the grass, I wouldn't have even noticed them if they hadn't moved. Sir Robert casually looks across the plain, as if admiring the endless grasslands. Sir Robert: (whispering) I saw one, over on the left. General Will: (quietly) Theres another behind you.(loudly) Ok, I've had enough of your silly tales. There's no way a vampire is a duke, here in Avalonia. Robert, why don't you go check the reigns on the right horse over there. They look a little tight and we don't want him getting sore. Sir Robert: Sure thing, I've got him( winking at Will) General Will: I' ll check the right one Will climbs down and " checks" on his horse Will: ( softly, so only Robert can hear) 1,2,3 At three they both spin around and attack the two very surprised bandits that were creeping up behind them. At the back of the wagon a third bandit runs out of the grass, tosses a rope onto the deck and climbs on. Bandit: kkiiillllllll ttthheeemmmm!!! Archer: What the..?! The archer pulls out his knife and blocks the sword blow aimed right for him. Behind the wagon Lord Dan sees the commotion and charges forward with his sword out, ready for battle. Plains raid 2 by lorddan413, on Flickr Plains Raid 3 by lorddan413, on Flickr Plains raid 4 by lorddan413, on Flickr Plains raid 5 by lorddan413, on Flickr This isn't really a build, just a quick landscape and a way to show them progressively moving across avalonia. I did, however, enjoy having my soldiers get their first taste of battle.
  15. Loading the wagon by lorddan413, on Flickr Lord Dan and his trusted team of knights load up their wagon in preparation for a long, and potentially dangerous journey across Avalonia. They are headed to Legoawyr, the territory claimed by Lord Dan, which is still unexplored and has no known inhabitants, save for a few tiny communities along its edges. Since venturing into unknown territory is a tedious undertaking, the group must be well supplied, bringing along essentials such a food, weapons, tools to start building a settlement, a small fraction of Lord Dan's gold( you never know when a small bribe might be useful) and other gear. The wagon itself, while not the most elegant wagon ever, is very practical. Build of wood and reinforced with metal, the wagon is a small mobile fortress, and will be the group's base as they travel the countryside. It has a useful boarding ramp which can be raised while moving or during an attack, deck space to carry supplies, mounted crossbows for protection, axes conveniently located on the sides to quickly clear obstructions ( or enemies), spears positioned to block the back ramp or to be rotated facing outward when encamped or when under attack, and an inclosed room for storage or shelter. It incorporates the Avalonian colors of dark green and a tiny bit of sand green. Unfortunately, this large and well armored wagon is very heavy and it requires at least two horses to pull it and frequent stops for the exhausted horses. loading the wagon 2 by lorddan413, on Flickr loading the wagon 4 by lorddan413, on Flickr wagon 1 by lorddan413, on Flickr wagon 2 by lorddan413, on Flickr wagon 3 by lorddan413, on Flickr Additional photos are on my flickr

  17. Here is my entry for Category A of the challenge. I thought I'd turn the tables on the tunnel-loving drow a bit by having them be the ones caught sleeping on the surface for a change. Somewhere South of the Mitgardia border, a long-abandoned dwarven mineshaft is suddenly the setting of a tense meeting. An Avalonian scout, one of Lord Simon's, has been called down to the underground in the company of dwarven soldiers and a pair of lantern-wielding prospectors who claim they have something dire to share. "Shhhhhh..." comes a whisper from above them. One of the soldiers has climbed up a makeshift ramp to where cracks in the stone form a natural passage for sound and smell. And what sounds! What smells! Directly above all their heads, drow spider-riders creep through the underbrush. One directs his spider to deface an Avalonian flag that once stood proudly from the squat spire of rock. In their harsh language, they confer about the whereabouts of Avalonian encampments. An ambush is being planned. The dwarves want to deliver an ambush of their own. The scout argues with them. Let the drow think they have the element of surprise, he says. He'll head back to the nearest encampment and raise the alarm. The dwarves are reluctant, relishing an opportunity to strike back against their most hated enemy. But the scout is persuasive and the dwarves agree to let this one go... for now. The complete build. I built is so that the rock outcropping is removable, as is the top layer of grass and foliage where two of the drow are positioned: In the bottom right corner you can see structural supports built of wood by the dwarves. The bottom left is a cutaway for visibility. Thanks for taking a look, C&C always welcome. Especially on the rockwork as it is only my second attempt at SNOTed rocks/terrain and I still have a long, long way to go. Note: more pictures available on flickr. These may be fun to look at because they show how I constructed the MOC for easy removal of parts.
  18. Hello All, Here is my entry to GoH Challenge 2: Category A - Team Simon. Unfortunately, due to the contest ending tonight, I have not finished the story yet, but am working on it. I will probably edit it tomorrow with the full story, but meanwhile here is a quick summary: Feren and his men were traveling to help his friend Simon get rid of the Drow from his lands. During one of their rest stops, Feren sent out his elite Rangers to scout ahead. When one of them didn't return, he and his lead archer/friend went out to search for him, knowing the general direction the missing Ranger took. Due to Feren's inhuman hearing ability, he heard whispering, and following it found this supposedly ruined castle, that was almost rebuilt. He and his friend sneaked up to the wall (Feren started climbing up), and heard the Ranger betraying their company to the Drow, and where they will be in a week. That is what this build is about, I was going to continue the story in my 2 other entries, but (due to the time limit again, and life) I was unable to build them. So here is the summary of what was going to happen. Build 2 Category B: When the Ranger came back, they grabbed him, put him in chains, and brought him to Feren. However, he explained that he was actually leading the Drow into a trap. He told the Drow Leader the fastest way to intercept Feren's company, which happened to lead the Drow's army through a narrow rocky valley between 2 cliffs, the perfect ambush spot. Build 3 Category C: Feren led his men to the cliffs and split them, putting half his men on both sides. They spent the next couple days preparing for this ambush (gathering rocks, traps, etc). When the Drow arrived, the attack would begin (Which is what the MOC would have been about, the full scale attack/ambush). That is the full story summary for what I "was" going to do for this Challenge, but didn't have time to build them all. For the Glory of Avalonia, and Go Team Simon! Thanks for viewing! Soli Deo Gloria! ~Matthew Oh~
  19. Entry for Challenge II, Category A, Team Simon. Reports from our spies tells about how the Drows has infiltrated our lands by the use of underground tunnels. The enemy can arise at any place and fall in our back. We need to locate the tunnel entrances and exist to stop this invasion! Scouts has been sent out to discover where the tunnels are ending. /Etzel
  20. Sir Jamus, I do not have time for explanation, but I need to meet you presently. Come armed for battle, and meet me at Kingridge catle at sunrise! Simon The sun rose drearily, seeming to be as weary as the land of Avalonia. The drow assault and the rumors of a plague have taken a toll on the grassy guild, as well as her once proud lords, now worn far and thin as they try to protect their homeland. Now the first light of that darkened sun hit the walls of Kingridge castle, and Sir Jamus the brave strode into the gate at a quick pace. As he wandered the keep he was pulled aside by a hooded warrior. Jamus: Simon, is that you, milord? The man replied, alarmed. Simon: Tis I, but we must not let the others know I'm here! I have come in secret, and must be back to the front lines soon! Jamus: Yes, milord. Why have you summoned me? Simon: I need you to lead a strike against the Drow leaders, a task I wished to do myself, but with so many lords trying to suppress the plague I do not have enough warriors. Here, you will need this! Jamus stared in wonder as Simon handed him an elaborate dagger, clearly of elvish make. Simon: This will help you defeat the Drow commander, keep it with you always! Good luck my friend! With that the Avalonia lord turned and walked away, leaving Jamus alone. Jamus: A dagger against a horde of drow, wonderful. Then Jamus noticed a note inscribed on the blade. Jamus: Aha! A map... He then sheathed the dagger and walked off, a look of determination on his face... Two days later... Hand Soldier: I hate being stationed here! We never get to see any action! Drow: You fool, we protect this tunnel entrance! We cannot let anyone past us! Hand Soldier: Ha, ha, like any of those weak Avalonians would think of coming here! They're all so wrapped up in protecting their precious crops! They're weak and stupid, and you're a mindless soldier, my drow friend! Drow: And you're a- wait? Did you hear that? Hand Soldier: Hear what? There's nothing but plants and animals for miles around- He was cut off by a battle cry as a group of knights jumped from their hiding places, and charged the tunnel entrance! Drow: Quickly, draw your weapons! Alert the others! They had no chance to alert anyone, the Avalonians had then surrounded in seconds. Most of the defenders didn't even have weapons with them... Jamus: Quickly, take the doors! This tunnel will lead us right to the cobra's head! To be continued... Well there's my last entry, I meant to have a third build, but I lacked motivation and time. Maybe I'll get around to it soon. . Figless shots! I tried to keep the dark tan and olive theme for all my entries. I'm really proud of the second build, it's pretty big (about 35x35 probably), and I love how the rockwork turned out. Thanks for looking!
  21. Once we arrived in Avalonia I joined myself to a body of Avalonians and began at once to scout out the position of the drow and try to find out what they were doing. One day, about a week after we stared, I noticed that one of the men appeared to be missing. A few hours later he came running into the camp were we had stopped for the day without his horse and obviously extremely excited. “Sir,” he exclaimed, “we have finally found them!” “I suppose that explains why you did not arrive here at the same time as the rest?” I questioned dryly. This seemed to put slightly him out of ease, and he shifted about before answering. “Well sir, you know that I was told to follow you at a little distance and make sure the drow were not following us. Anyhow after a while – ahem – I, well, I fell behind a bit,” and seeing that I was going to question him he quickly added “Never mind why.” I was not positive, but I had a very shrewd guess as to what had happened. “And?” “After extracting myself from that ridiculous saddle I proceeded to attempt to clean myself off a little when I heard someone else coming down the road. Knowing that in these days it is always well to remain concealed, I hastily hid, after disposing of the saddle. In a few seconds a couple of figures came along, one a Drow and the other apparently a Varlyrian. ‘You know,’ quoth the Varlyrian, ‘I do think I rather uncivilized of you all to try to simply overwhelm you enemies by sheer numbers. Strategy, my friend: that is the way to proceed.’ “As his comrade did not seem to disapprove he continued, ‘For example that fortress on the hill over there that we were reconnoitering,’ and he point up toward a fork in the road, ‘I know that you could just through five thousand Drow at it, lose half, and take the castle, but you could save almost all of them by using a little stratagem. Listen carefully. We shall only – Ahhh!’ and at that he tumbled into the mud puddle, as he had not been paying the slightest attention where he was going. After his friend had dragged him out he exclaimed suspiciously, ‘Someone has been mucking around in this.’ ‘Besides you?’ laughed his companion. ‘Never mind,’ he said testily, ‘As I was saying, we shall only use a small force to entice the defenders out of the castle. The rest of the men shall lie in ambush behind, and when they come out, the ambush can enter the fortress and help the other force destroy those who have sallied out. Only one thing, mind you, I shall be going with the ambush, not with the small force that will in all probability be annihilated. Still it will be far better than losing a few thousand troops.’ And they proceeded to walk on, while I came here as fast as possible.” “Thank you for the information. And now you will go find your horse sir. Once you have found it come back to me and I will give you a message for Lord Simon. Just don’t be falling into mud puddles with it if you please.” - Sir Douglass Winzer I would like to recieve UoP credit for Landscape Design: trees (1) C&C are welcome!
  22. The Battle for the Enchanted Forest Book II - Challenge II - Category C Unfortunately the numbers were to big to hold them back long enough to prepare for battle. Nar'Bilu heard a disturbing sound. Screeming of elves, breaking trees and battle cries filled the air with a terrifying thunder. The war started. A massive monster under the control of a dark mage, tore hole in our walls enabeling the drow to breach our lands. When our walls were beaten, darkskinned blademen entered Hembrygga killing the frontline of our defence. Nar'Bilu rushed to the battlefront summoning every swordsmen he had available, pushing the drow back to the field. It took only a few minutes before the field was covered with bodies, from both sides. But the drow did not expect the Hemresa Legion... they thought they would fight only elves. Hundreds would die, but the forest entrance was saved. We were victorious.
  23. My dearest Cassius, We are still in the tower. Since the first night, when the black ship was spotted, we haven't been attacked, but many of our men are dead or dying. I believe it is because they handled the dead orcs. I warned them to burn them, but they threw them into the water instead. Now, the pestilence is creeping through even my own body. I am old, Cassius. You know that. I have been old for a long time, since you were a child. I can feel that it is almost my time to go through that great door we call death. Do not grieve for me, for where I am going, I shall never be old again. These shall most likely be my final words to you, words so precious I shudder to think of entrusting them to the care of this bird. Do not fear. No matter what happens, be brave. If Avalonia falls, so be it. Everything is being orchestrated for a reason, Cassius. Do not fear. Farewell, Alfred ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Quite frankly, I love everything about this build. The photography sucks (I don't have access to my normal camera), but I think it might be one of my best builds so far. I originally planned for this to be a mountain top, but when I placed it on a blue baseplate to make sure it fit the limit, it just screamed island. So I ordered up some trans black bricks, (greatly underestimating how many), and made up some water. This is supposed to be a ruined tower build on an islet in the Mystic Isles that has recently been repaired. I'd also like to claim the following credits: Still water Wall technique #1 Window Frames C&c welcome, as always!
  24. I've been down here for thirty seven days. Thirty seven. Do you have any idea how long that is, thirty seven days beneath the earth? Thirty seven days with only the occasional pale, wavering torch? Thirty seven days without seeing anything else alive, except for the drow and their wretched prisoners? Thirty seven days ago, when I set out into that cave, freshly disguised and eager to find this man, whoever he may be, I had no idea how long it would take. Now, I've been down here for over a month, and I still have no clue where he might be. For all I know, the way these tunnels wind around, I could be right above him, mere feet, and I'd never know. I hear someone coming. I must go. Our hero! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Whew, here's another build in a long tradition of posting at the last minute! Also, I'd like to apologize for the crappy pictures. My normal camera was unavailable. This was one of those build that you make, forget about, find, realize the deadline is a few days away, and scramble to get done. Thanks for reading, c&c welcome! More pics on flickr:
  25. Near the ruins of Alfderon Manor, an Elf meets a forestman in the employ of Lord Simon, with valuable information about Drow movements. They are furtive, and concealed in a corner of the ruins. Elf: "Make sure this message reaches Lord Simon. It is... ...Most disturbing." Forestman: "I will never yer fear. I ain't gonna hang around anyway, them Drows is everywheres." With that, the Forestman disappeared off in the direction of Nalderic, My entry for Cat. A. C+C welcome.
