A look back at Jonathan Stephenson's Lego Technic Cars

Back when I started seriously getting into building some 15 years ago there was a guy named Jonathan Stephenson who had designed some really awesome Technic cars... Of course this was before everything had gone full studless... I know that many people here have probably never seen these models, so I would like to share them as they are amazingly well done... I don't know if he still builds or not as I haven't seen anything since these cars from 2000.. IMO they still hold up even with today's new full wave of parts... Corvette Mustang -
[TC6] ][WIP] Radical RXC V8

So I know that I have already made a model for the TC6 contest (my dragline which is awesome) I feel as if supercars are doing better in this contest. I will make this car and see which model will get more love, and i'll enter that one. So I am making the Radical RXC V8 which is a street legal supercar which has real LMP1 blood in it. here is the real one: So for the functions is has: -1 Servo for 4+reverse gearbox -1 Servo for steering -2 Xl motors or 4 L motors for propulsion -1 M motor or L motor(s) for raising front suspension The gearbox is already built and it works great. Pushrod suspension and double wishbone. Oh ya and its gonna be RED!!! So what do you guys think I should use 2 XLs or 4 Ls ? Pics coming soon :drool: !!!!!!!!! -
^ Traditional 1929 Ford Model A-V8 hotrod on 1932 Ford deucerails build circa 1959, featuring fullhouse blown Mercury flathead with open headers, dual exhaust for streetuse, red tuck'n'roll vinyl upholstery, steelwheels painted red, skinny bias ply Firestone tyres up front, Firestone dirtrackers in the rear, Pontiac taillights, chopped windshield, clubplaque hanging from the spreaderbar. ;) ^ Loosly based on this car. ^ I got inspired by the cab-piece that came with the icecreamtruck or RV-camping and canoeingset. I thought that would be the perfect Ford Model A rearend: ^ I build it with a regular red interior, but really want it with ^this^ dark red to give it a more authentic look... I'm just missing a vital piece... And just for fun: ^ Meet Woody. [MT] VW T1 Dragster

My entry for Model Team competition. This thing isnt very sirious build, but ive had fun. Its somekind of show dragster van based on VW T1, but very few thing are same as on original. Those things on the right side are air intakes for supercharger. Support wheels, so it doesnt fly away. Some racing colours. Flat floor as should be for a sirious racer, and theres a difusser too. Claustrofobic cockpit. So the rules say the model has to have at least one function. As a dragster dont have many i build badass "doors" (hope it count), And the steering wheel can be moved away :) (was trying on steering many hours, was close, but it wasnt good and it doesnt fit well in that flat floor. Wide open. The heart of the machine. Big V8 engine with millions of horsepower and tourques. Big rpm counter. Rollcage. A big bucket racing seats with 5 point belts. Something different. In the middle of June I was at a Drag racing contest close to where I live. At this competition there were a few front engine dragster, built like in the old days, where the driver sits right on top the final drive..:D The ones that in the 60:s-70:s were running on alcohol got the nickname "Moonshine Dragsters" This is my attempt to recreate one of those old school dragsters. The biggest challenge was to be able to create something that looked like a tubular frame. I admit that it is a bit fragile, but on the other hand not as fragile as you might think. Anyway - I can live with that since my creations are made for display and not meant to play with. I long tried to implement steering but it always ended up to bulky and heavy. So I settled to get the looks right and ditch it. Instead i focused more on the details to make it as real looking as possible. I hope I came fairly close. Cheers! hello, since a bit of time i decided to rebuilt some lego's, but i do not wanted to scrap my other rides;-) so i bought a 42029, because i think it is a fantastic truck to begin with:-) started from a stock 42029, i changed the length of the bed, put in a proper v8, rebuild front and rear fenders, put big 8110 wheels on it, make it rc. other things like a exhaust in the rear, the top ones still standing, it is powered by 2 l motors and the servo motor. next is the lenghtening of the cabin;-) here are some pics enjoy and comment;-)

Hey everyone, I've been working on this trial truck for 2 and 1/2 weeks now, and I am nearing completion. At first I wasn't going to make a WIP topic, but I need some advice for the cab design. So this is what I've been modeling mine after. My problem is the V8 engine, because the engine is too far back I had to make the cab longer as well. This totally throws off the proportions and makes the wheels look to small and the chassis too short. I also thought I would be able to make the cab in the new green and I have enough of the panels, but not enough liftarms. So I am open to color scheme suggestions. Just to let you know though, I could probably do it in Black, Red, Yellow, and possibly White with Blue. Here's what I have so far: As you can see I also have to accommodate for a tilting cab. It has full live axle suspension and an XL motor for drive and a Servo motor for steering. -

And please go to see and click the "Support"! :) ************************************************** Here's some details about making of the "Mysterion". I have tried to learn new techniques. The frame with holes is 3-wide while the front section is 5-wide. The body is 7-wide but the interior is 4-wide and the bubble is 6-wide. There's also some SNOT design, for example the mismatching headlights, V8-engines, side panels, rear lights and top hinges. And as in the many recent creations there's no visible studs. It is also kind of "modular" as seen in the picture. This was fun to build and The Mysterion is also so far my most advanced creation. Custom Lego Hot-rod Hearse

This is a bit of an older MOC I did last Halloween - (it's long scrapped now) but I thought I'd share this here as well - especially for those with a small taste of the macabre. Just after building Lego's Vampyre Hearse, a new, slightly-morbid-yet-cool idea spawned in my mind; what if I build a bigger, RC version of this? At first, I wasn't quite sure what it'll end up looking like, since I couldn't figure out what to model it after - a Cadillac? a Rolls-Royce? a Lincoln? - so, I went with all three - sort of, lol. Hearse Front by Octav_spot, on Flickr What's interesting is that the headlamps are actually yellow elements, but mixed together with the blue from the LED's, it came out green. I liked the look so much, I kept it as is. Hearse Rear by Octav_spot, on Flickr The side-lamps idea came to me in the last moment - I wish I'd of made them look closer to actual lanterns (since that's what original hearse carriages had.) To my surprise, the light came out looking almost purple, which seemed strikingly accurate.
