  1. A banana plantation has been established just outside the new settlement of Mooreton Bay, Alicentia. Demand for this exotic fruit has risen steeply in recent times, with even Her Majesty herself rumoured to enjoy a good banana now and then! A fast trading vessel can transport the fruit back to the mainland before it spoils and will be almost guaranteed to make a tidy profit. ------------------- Another quick build and most probably my last for the month. Purists will not like the bunches of bananas as I've had to use the same trick as in my Cocoa plantation to make the trees look anything like authentic but I am reasonably certain that there is no way to make a bunch of bananas using just Lego! (more than happy to be proved wrong! ) Licensed as a small plantation in Mooreton Bay, Alicentia.
  2. One of the first businesses to open in any new settlement will usually be a public house and Mooreton Bay is no different. The Corunna Tavern offers newly arrived settlers modest accommodation while at the same time serving refreshing drinks and humble food. In this scene you can see several citizens of Mooreton Bay enjoying refreshments. In the street two troopers of the newly arrived Queen's Own Hussar Regiment ride past and a soldier escorts some convicts to a work party. A detachment of troopers from the Queen's Own Hussar's has been dispatched to Mooreton Bay to provide extra security and mobility. The Hussars are indeed an impressive sight in a dashing black and red coat with a brilliant scarlet peliesse. ------------------------------------- Hi all! I had good intentions for expanding Mooreton Bay this month but it hasn't seemed to come together! I've cheated a bit here and used the upper level of a building from my recent Ainesford Market MOC build to produce a quick tavern for Mooreton Bay. While making a Bricklink order recently I came across the vampire torsos which I had not seen before. Thinking they'd make a perfect torso for Corrington soldiers I had to give it a go and these Hussars are the result. Hope you enjoy. As always C&C most welcome! Licensed as a medium artesian in Mooreton Bay, Alicentia.
  3. Freddie the fisherman launches his small boat every morning before the sun rises. Today he has been particularly lucky, although the shark was a big of a struggle! His stall can be found on one of the beaches adjoining the harbour and is popular with the citizens of Mooreton Bay as he only sells the highest quality fresh fish. A quick build to try out some different roofing techniques and a revised palm tree design (for me). Licensed as a small commerce, Mooreton Bay, Alicentia. As usual C & C welcome!
  4. (note: the first picture is a recycled picture only serving story purpose) (recycled picture) Somewhere in Breshaun, everday business was going on. An older guy with an oddly brown beard and poor clothes went to the MAESTRO Cider shop at the quays. "Greatings monsieur N'estpassivieux, how are you doing today?" "Ah, excellent eh, oui yes, but too bad it will be my last applecider I'll drink in my life" "How it comes? You are our most loyal client!" "Ah oui yes, I should not say it, but as I am older, I don't have so much longer to live. And see, I got a cousin in Mardier, and the higher class in Mardier spent their last days in a Spa. Something about a white volcano It makes them feel younger. But only Marderians are supposed to know." "Really too bad, we'll miss you... Anyway, enjoy the applecider and your holiday there!" At the same time monsieur N'estpassivieux left, a messenger left and took a quick Skiff to Elysabethtown. -------- A few days later, around miday, The Prince of Stedor arrived at an island with a white volcano. It wasn't that hard to find once you knew what to search for... (note, this seriously is not LEGO... It is to illustrate the island and the inspiration for the following pic which is LEGO and is my story build.) ---------- "A Mardierian flag, this should be the right spot", Jan Zwartbaard whispered to his Lieutenant once they set foot on the land. They found a perfect spot to hide the Prince of Stedor and the troops stationed on it. "I don't like the symbol of Zeus as flagpole" the Lieutenant replied. Strange indeed... But the explanation came quickly as the exploring party arrived at the so hyped Fountain of Youth. "Welcome to the Fountain of Youth Spa, Please register here, leave your money and weapons there, change your clothes wherever you want and start relaxing!" A beauitull woman welcomed the explorers. Jan Zwartbaard was stunned for a moment. Such a beauty!! But then the Lieutenant woke him up from daydreaming and pointed to some red cloaked figures on top of a small hill. The lady saw them looking and wondering, so she said: "That's Lord Father Toleau. He discovered this island and made this wonderfull Spa Resort out of it." "What's the secret of this island?" "Well, the rich and famous from Mardier are enjoying the end of their life here. As we got everything in this Spa and they may do everything here, added with the healing atmosphere of the White Volcano, they feel young again. Ofcourse they don't live forever, but at least, they die feeling young..." Meanwhile Lord Father Toleau arrived at the scene as well, accompanied with two red cloaked guards. "Ah Eslandolan friends... As good tradepartner of Mardier, you are welcome to take a rest here, but we fear you are too young to stay here..." "Weren't you an Oleon priest?" "Oh yes, but after I discovered the island, Mardier offered me the most power and wealth, so now this a Mardierian Colony." Jan Zwartbaard knew enough.... Lord Father Toleau didn't know there was war between Eslandola and Mardier... He didn't know YET... He looked to his Lieutenant and nodded... What a beautifull addition to the MAESTRO empire... To be continued... ------------------------------------- Wow, such a difficult built as it is completely SNOT... But I am very happy with the result! C&C welcome!!
  5. "I know everyone else is out exploring for the fountain of youth! You know I don't have the time for that! But I did send a few of my men out to find it and bring me a bottle of that very precious water! Let's hope the map that was sold to me was correct!" Somewhere, on another island, deep inside a cave system: "The map says we've found it, but the only thing I'm seeing is a bunch of dead people!" "We shouldn't have trusted that guy selling that map, but at least it should help us to find out of here!" (Third guy appears through another hole in the cave) "Have you looked up? I know why the map was that cheap. It might be the fountain of youth, but it is not reachable behind that giant crystal in the ceiling!" (Looking up) "We were ordered to find the fountain of youth and try to bring some water home. I think we have done what we can, or does either of you want to end up like our friends here?" "You are right, let us get out of here quickly!" So, this is the story how the fountain of youth was found by the men of Monezterrel. Too bad they didn't succeed reaching it... Here are the pictures of the cave system: ______ I don't think I'll ever build a cave starting from the top again. It was annoying, too say the least.
  6. The largest building constructed so far in the fledgling colony of Mooreton Bay is the newly completed ETTC Warehouse and Offices. Constructed on a large plot of ground with future expansion in mind, the imposing looking brick structure serves as both a warehouse on the ground floor, and offices on the top floor. What is the ETTC you ask? A very good question. Well, we can't tell you too much, but the East Terran Trading Company is a secretive consortium of prominent Corlanders operating in the new world. Unlike certain other faction's trade companies, the primary goal of the ETTC is not profit, although it is of course desirable! Indeed rumour has it a large dividend was just paid out to the companies shareholders! Rather the primary goal of the ETTC is to work to advance the national aims and goals of the crown of Corrington in the New World. And that my friends is enough said regarding the ETTC. Here in the yard, ETTC Foreman Noel Paterson supervisors some sailors loading recently arrived maritime cannon carriages onto a cart for transport to a waiting ship. You may recognise Noel and the cart from his recent work collecting bananas from a local plantation. A hired guard stands at the entrance and a native warrior waits patiently for his chief who is inside the building. On the first floor Colin Jenkins, the principle agent for the company on Alicentia, negotiates with one of the native chiefs. The natives have been supplying raw materials in exchange for goods such as iron cookware and utensils. Jenkins, together with Paterson are the companies only paid employees on Alicentia. Together they look after the companies interests in Mooreton Bay and Corrish Alicentia. ______________________________ A warehouse trying out some techniques with the 'brick' bricks. I would have liked to make the interior bigger (it was originally planned to be 16 studs wide) but I ran out of the 'brick' bricks for the walls. That won't happen again as I have 399 dark tan arriving this week bringing my dark tan total to over 500! I have some plans for those bricks and wanted to play with some different styles with this build. Any hints or tips into this style of 'clean' building with these bricks is very welcome. Licensed as a medium commercial property for the ETTC.
  7. Father Tholeau and the Midas curse During the exploration to find the fountain of youth, Felipe de la Manzana and his team found a strange book near the floating rocks. Here is what they learned reading it : "I am cursed... I will probably die soon, so here is my last words. If I don't find the Fountain of youth, I will never be able to cure me from the terrible curse Hades priests cast upon me. I had to flee from the ship I was because the crew began to be worry as the first symptoms of the curse appeared. First, it was just pain in my right arm, then my hand became solid gold and became un usable. I had to flee... I landed in a desert island and it appeared it was not the good one. I thought I was closer to the island of the Fountain... After crafting me a small fortune skiff, I managed to reach the next island. It wasn't so far, finally... It appeared I was wrong again, this island was mangrove and swamps. I had to escape from alligators' attacks. At last, I think I found it ! This is probably the good island. Those strange rocks seemed to protect the access to the Fountain ! Let's hope I can reach it... Now, all my right side is contamined by the curse. I have to walk with an help... I am cursed... This is the Midas curse, and the only way to cure it is to drink the Fountain waters. Father Tholeau." This was probably the last words of Father Tholeau. Hope you enjoyed it. I made many little fun builds for this Challenge. As always, C&Cs are welcome.
  8. And this is what happens when you have only a few hours before the deadline, and only one partially complete build, but are determined to enter something into this category... Once back in a tavern in Bastion Captain Dracken gathered his officers in a private room with plenty of grog. Several rounds of drinks later First Mate Jakes had to ask once more question about the Fountain. "So what happened to the other guy?" he asked, "this father... Tholeua?" Before Dracken could offer his thoughts Iosefka interrupted. "They say dead men tell no tales," she began, "but truely the living need listen more attentively. For Tholeau's fate is no great enigma to those inclined to hear..." The Last Island... Truely, Tholeau had drunk of the Fountain and been restored. But youth has its own curses, recklessness prime amongst many. He went on to the next island heedless of the cost he had incurred, for his selfish use of the Fountain had angered the local spirits and roused the ghosts of all who had gone before him. On the third and final of those islands he found another cave. Of course he had to know what treasure lay on this island. But he found no treasure. Only bones, and hatred for the life he had claimed for himself. And try as he want his legs availed him not. And deep in the caves of that isle he still lays. Water he sought. Water he did find. One Last Answer "So, Althea asked, "if Tholeau died on that island how did his journal get out?" "The dead," Iosefka answered, "do not all rest easy on dark nights and wyrd tides. And Tholeau, he seek immortality above all else. Death not keep his tale untold, and so he become myth. Myth not die so quietly or quickly." "What you're saying," Jakes said, "is that his ghost carried his journal off that island." "It would not be the strangest thing we have seen." Dracken said. A very last minute category B entry, because I just haven't the energy for a second elaborate build. Some "clean" shots of the cavern and it's contents are behind the spoiler button.
  9. Captain Matthew Sawkins of the Lady Jacqueline has had this fine but modest house constructed in a prime location in Mooreton Bay, Alicentia. Here he and his wife Hannah enjoy a relaxing drink on their upper balcony with beautiful views of the bay. In the street below a baker originally from New Olean sells his wares in a handcart. The Sawkins' son Craig can be see playing in his bath in the yard (under the watchful eye of his nanny of course - safety first!) _________________________________ A quick house for Mooreton Bay. Licensed as a small residence. C&C welcome!
  10. The hunting of youth source Following the footsteps of father Tholeau, Diego Mpyromaxos de Valdés with a small group, began the search for the fountain of youth.. After several days in the jungle, and faced wild beasts, hungry natives, poisonous reptiles and nature elements, they finally managed to find the fountain of youth! Diego and his friend officer of Oleon Arsène, can now return to New Terra and tell the good news to the king .. who certainly will not leave them with empty hands, but he will give them honor and glory.. But it looks, that they are not alone out there.. Thank you for reading and good luck to all the challengers! C&C are welcome !
  11. Just made the original deadline! My first attempt at a waterfall, not sure I'm totally happy with the result, I have some ideas for next time... Hopefully you'll enjoy a somewhat typical Corlander take on the Fountain of Youth myth! __________________________________________________ Establishing a crown settlement is not an easy task. Major Dirk Allcock had never thought it would be otherwise, even so the day to day struggle of supervising the fledgling settlement of Mooreton Bay was taking its toll upon him. Finally he had the opportunity to take a couple of days off. Leaving the colony under the care of Lieutenant Stewart of the Royal Marines, He has set off accompanied by his native friend and companion Xochitl. Talk has swept through the settlement recently of the craze to locate the mythical fountain of youth. Stories of the adventures of the Olean priest Father Tholeau have encouraged many to set off in search of what Dirk is convinced is a misguided waste of time. Fountain of youth indeed! Any good man of science should rightly be sceptical of such superstitious nonsense! And Dirk of course is a good and respectable man of Corrington, a nation known for its love of science and order! After seven good labourers deserted the settlement in search of this fountain, Dirk voiced his frustrations of Xochitl. The beautiful priestess had suggested she take him to see a waterfall some distance into the interior from where the settlement had been established. Dirk, badly in need of a break from the settlement and keen to make some scientific observations in the interior's vast jungle, had agreed and at the first opportunity a small expedition set off. On reaching the falls Dirk's breath was taken away by the beautiful serenity of the scene. As he and Xochitl relaxed lazily on the banks and watched the water cascade into the pool beside them, he felt at peace for the first time in months. Indeed this was just what he needed. No drunken brawls between soldiers, sailors and marines, no convicts to supervise, no free settlers complaining about provisions. Just natural beauty surrounding him. Already he had spotted some examples of an unfamiliar specie of epiphyte with brilliant pink flowers growing in a large tree. His friend Don Montoya would surely be interested in some sketches of these! Dirk felt younger than he had in years... ppfffftt a magical fountain of youth indeed! What poppycock! Surely here was the key to feeling healthier and younger, a peaceful and gorgeous location, good company and plenty of new flora and fauna to investigate - what more could a man of science and order ask for? Not without a sense of humour, when discovering the native people didn't have a name for the falls, Dirk decided henceforth they should be known as Tholeau Falls. Little did he know the name might be more fitting than he had ever imagined... and a picture without figs in case you're interested!
  12. Oleon Vs Namere build off part 3.. The silver parrot.. and the secret beneath the lighthouse.. And so the investigator following the Pine Sol traces reached a hardware store attached to an old lighthouse. On the outside the shop appeared as any other hardware store in New Terra, but things tends to be deceiving... It is said that… If you want to find anything in New Terra, you will find it at the "Silver Parrot"... - Aye Hugo.. We 'll eat today!! - Good evening, I am looking for Pine Sol. - Good evening dear sir. We dont have such things in our store. - Maybe with 100 DB you can search a bit more? - Hmm, in that case I can do something for you... Follow me into the basement. There we keep special stuff for special customers... - This is the best Pine Sol in the whole New Terra - You see, that's interesting because recently a big amount of it was bought by a certain Namerean "sir" that stole some Oleander ships and used it to clear all his traces on board the ships.. Strangely enough, these Pine Sol traces lead to your shop… - I swear I had nothing to do with it!! - If you want to get away with it, I want proofs when and to whom you have recently sold your Pine Sol. Or else... - Right away! Here you are! These are my secret ledgers… -Eureka!!! This is the whole MOC, representing the third part of the Oleon-Namere build-off. C&C welcome! The basic idea for the multilevel moc it came from Jacob Nion here.
  13. Dramatis Personae: Previously: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=132603 Currently, on an uncharted island... My calculations were correct. Here it is. What is it? This, Wilhem...ahem...Willy, is the legendary Fountain of Youth. I thought it was just a myth. From my research, I've learned that it is very much real. However, it's not of much use now, since it appears to no longer function. FOUNTAIN'T!!! I do find the statue in the fountain curious. Perhaps it was some sort of god or higher being? Whatever it is, it does look out of this world. Oh, stop with the stupid veiled alien references!! There are no aliens in this forum!! And no, this fountain doesn't have some sort of advanced technology to reverse aging that stopped working a long time ago!! Who writes this stuff?!?! That loser should go back to the sci-fi forum where they tolerate this kind of terrible writing!!! All comments and criticisms welcome!
  14. Somewhere in New Terra to the east of Halos with a copy of the journal...
  15. The MAESTRO Quest Hall ! or The MAESTRO Adventure Parties (MAP) Hello to everyone ! Felipe de la Manzana and MAESTRO are proud to launch this new idea : The MAESTRO Adventure Parties ! or MAP if you prefer. This idea is the way the MAESTRO trade Company will explore the New World ! Our scientists, helped by The Doctor, from Corrington, and with the assistance of the Ténotclaxcans, developed a way to chartered new areas uknown until now ! With those new maps, MAESTRO is opening to all the players of any Faction a new in-Land action. This action will be known as the MAESTRO Adventure Party (MAP). One Party will be launch for a time determined by the Party leader (by now, just MAESTRO members) and be parted in 3 Acts (like in theater plays). Every player who wants to try the adventure has to conform to some rules : - A Party is something near a build-off or a mini challenge. The players will have to build a MOC for each Act. Each Act is scenarised by the Party Leader, for now, only MAESTRO members can be Party Leaders (Please, PM me if you want to try) - Every participant has to suscribe to a determined Party. He can do this by PM me or just suscribe in this thread. - A Party is a competitive action and each contestant needs to suscribe to a specific Party before participating. There are no possibility for team action for now. - Suscribing to a Party engage to spend Dbs to win a clue to solve the story. The amount and the clues are Party leader decision. Players should be awared that Parties can be lost and will lead to a loss of Dbs ! - Once you suscribed to a Party you're suppose to go to the end. - MAP is only engaging MAESTRO and is not a new official action. It's not a MRCA action. The first party will be open in the 15th of July. It will be lead by myself and be about the Ténotclaxcans pearl divers. So every player who want to try the adventure is free to PM me or suscribe in this thread. Thank you !
  16. "Grump, how isolated can a factory be? Such a long journey... I hope I finally get that promotion so I can sit on my lazy "behind", enjoying my cup of tea every morning instead of travelling allover the world inspecting factories..." With these words, Inspector Ed Spill entered the lighthouse factory. This time he had to check if the world famous Pine Sol they made here, is made in all safety, with respect for environmental blabla and the wellbeing of the workers. How long would it take before the owner of this factory kicks his megablocks and throws him out. The record is 15 seconds... That was at a time he visited a factory in Stedor. Too bad for Ed Spill, it was Lord Damaximus, the big boss of that factory who welcomed him. The moment he said "wellbeing of workers", Lord Damaximus kicked him out of the factory, yelling something about "hating hippies". It was indeed time for that well deserved promotion of Spill. Now he thinks about it, he better should buy a soft cushion for under his behind as his behind hurts a lot due all that hippykicking. Anyway, time to inspect this factory... "Velcome, noble stranger. How can ich help you?" A voice said above him. Ed looked to the balcony, seeing a weirdly dressed guy commanding all the workers. Already failed in the category "boss helping his workers". "Hello sir, I am Inspector Spill, Ed Spill. I am here to rate your factory considering environmental blablabla and safety for your workers." "Hahaha Spill-Ed, Dat iz very funny accurate in my factory!" - the boss replied - "Ich am dr. Pine Sol von Lichtenhouse" "Never heard that joke before..." [drPSvL] Az you can seeh, we have de most innovative equipment in here. We have a crane, pinguins, workers, a fire-pit, some barrels and a Hocuzpocuz-bottle-filler. [spill] Pinguins? [drPSvL] Jawol! Dey got de perfect body-mass-index to pulverize de Pine-Leaves. Das is de ruse of our Pine Sol! [spill] So pinguins, who basically live in the coldest places on earth, are working in a factory, next to a fire pit? [drPSvL] Jawol! Very true! Ich have to admit, dey are very expensive upkeep. [spill] Seriously? Do tell me why... [drPSvL] We have to send dem on vacation every 2 weeks to de very far Nord. Oderwise dey are striking too much. Striking pinguins are never fun working with. [spill] So every two weeks your factory has to close for 2 weeks? [drPSvL] Oh noo, we got plenty enough pinguins. One pair of pinguins on holiday, oder pair is working here. [spill] Allright, and what happens with the pulverized and stamped Pine leaves? [drPSvLH] Dey are added in a big barrel soo dere can be red Corrie Chemical Company Alchemist cubes added. De rezult is bleu Pine Sol! Az said, we got de most innovative technology here... [spill] So those are dangerous Alchemist cubes, and that guy touches them with his skin? [drPSvLH] Oh no! After he lost hiz eye due a chemical aczident, we gave him bandana. He still haz his hair thanks to our precious care! [spill] I was talking about his hands, but thanks for the info! [drPSvLH] Aaah but he haz yellow gloves. True story! [spill] What is the guy with white bandana doing around the big barrel? [drPSvLH] Once de ingredients all turned to blue Pine Sol cubes, he throws dem into de big barrel. Sehr efficient! Now de craneguy fills a grey box with Pine Sol cubes and makes it hang above de firepit. [spill] And the completely red guy with red bandana? What is his job? [drPSvLH] He haz to navigate the box... True Story! [drPSvLH] Und once de cubes are fluid, de box is placed above the HocuzPocuz-Bottle-Filler. Top Notch! [spill] I see... And the grey rat on this floor, what is his meaning in the whole process? [drPSvLH] No idea, nein. But what about your banana in your handz? It haz no meaning neither, haz it? [spill] Point taken... Thanks for the quick tour, I am going now back home. [drPSvLH] You are velcome! Take care, becauze I hear thunder in de distance... Is it thunder? --- Thanks for watching!! C&C welcome :)
  17. Freebuild #1 June 616 There will be order on Isla de Romantica through liberal application of gun powder and shots. Monkey spies are everywhere. Watch your flank. Cannon Wagon by dr_spock_888, on Flickr
  18. Kings Port Advertiser and Ship List New Terra’s somewhat reliable source for shipping news. June 616. VOL 1 ISSUE 5 Pirate Menace Finally Addressed After month’s pleas from the harried merchant fleets, the three great kingdoms put aside their difference for the greater good and formed six squadrons to rid the seas of the growing pirate menace. The crowds cheered these brave captains on as they left their docks at the start of the month, but only some were feted upon their return. The Corrington fleet sailing around Lebellan under Commodore Coyle achieved the greatest glory, capturing the rated ships Killing Spree, Sleeping Siren, and Blood Diamond. Surprisingly, there has been no talk of a knighthood for the commodore to reward him for his victory as rumours abound that he has earned the displeasure of the court for some unwholesome business dealings. The joint Eslandola and Corrington fleet sailing east of Lebellan under Commodore De La Manzana sank a mighty warship while capturing four vessels of small displacement, also earning the gratitude of the trading companies. The Eslandolan fleet sailing near Mardier’s colony of King’s Port sailing under Commodore Janszen proved overmatched by the Blood and Guts, a privateer out of Carno. The cruise started well with the capture of the Garvian reaver Onishiit. In high spirits, the captains decided to issue extra rations of grogs to their crews in celebration. During the gross lack discipline that followed, none of the look-outs observed the rapidly closing man-of-war out of Riden. Having lost the weather gauge, both sloops Holder’s Secret and Lady’s Revenge were easily run down and boarded, while the Dark Narwhal fled back to the safe haven of Nova Terrelli with its prize in order to escape the same fate. A sad showing indeed for the merchant marines of the bitter King Fernando. Faring little better was the joint Eslandolan and Oleon fleet under Commodore Wyndzon. Cruising along the coast of Balondia, they encountered the fleet of the dread pirate Zubious Van Wreck. Taking the offered bait, the flotilla sprung upon a small cutter, the former Eslondalan vessel Wringe (now fitted as a ship of war), and brigantine Cougar intent raiding the coastal villages. While arguing over the division of the prize crews, Van Wreck swooped in with the Ghost Harvester and Fallen Angel. The Oleon brig Expedition’s powder magazine caught fire during the initial broadside and the ensuing inferno saw it quickly sink to the dark sea bottom. The pirate lord then turned his attention to the outgunned Walrus, battering her into submission. At dusk, the outclassed Turgut sailed away with what survivors it had collected leaving the laurels of victory again for the pirate lord. Upon making port, Captain Phred of Turgut laid blame for the failure on the commodore’s orders, straining the already tense relations between the two nations. Southeast of An Tolli, the joint Corrington and Eslandolan fleet had mixed success, capturing the pirate war brigs Catfish Supreme and Cold Heart, while nearly losing the flagship Dilligente in close action and seeing the pirates make off with Eslandola’s Sea Bulge. Once news of this encounter reached shore, King’ Fernando’s ambassador made an official protest to the Corrington Naval office, claiming that their vessel had been misused as a sacrificial lamb. No official response has been forthcoming to the baseless accusation, but rumours abound that the Sea Bulge had put to sea criminally short of spars and sails after its captain had sold them for a few extra coins. Finally, the joint Oleon and Eslandola squadron met some middling honour, capturing an armed pirate sloop lurking by Holder’s Rock while the a vainly attempted to track down the Garvian privateer Admiral Mercedes. While the overall results of the campaign have been deemed a success, one cannot but note that the balance of naval power has shifted decidedly in the favour of Corrington. How long will it be before Queen Annetta decides that use her new found advantageand declare the lands east of Terraversa hers by right? The courts of Oleon and Eslandola must eyeing her ever growing navy with growing trepidation. War for Ilse de Romantica Rages On Lord Prio’s struggle for independence continues, though little solid news of the conflict has come back from the island thus far. There has been some talk of unseasonable wet weather interfering with the campaigning, but it seems unfounded. We wait to see the result of Mardier’s attempt to put down its wayward governor and reclaim its possession. Red Gold: The Corrington Trade Fleet's Luck Holds Steady Another glorious month of trading was had by the Corrington merchant fleet, who's strategy of running two massive trade fleets has once again proved successful, with only two loss reported. The Merry Lyric fleet travlled across the seas, accumalting gold at a fine pace. While the Sulky Harlequin and Purple Rain drew the attention of buccaneers, these were easily dispatched. The pride of the navy took prizes of the Garvian privateers Soupfish and Smirker, as well as the pirate vessels Anoa, Blood Mean, and Baluga. The HMS Gauntlet proved the mightiest of these warriors, driving off repeated attacks single-handed while capturing pirate ships of the line Silver Tongue and Headstone. It is truly captained by a hero of the realm. Unfortunately, the loss of the Lynx to a monstrous kracken and the mysterious disappearance of the Valkyrie during the night marred an otherwise perfect voyage. Not to be outdone, the naval escorts of the Quick Wing fleet took the pirate vessels Bingo, Don Abelo and Ugly Gibbon after fierce actions, and without loss of a single merchant ship. Praiseworthy indeed. Finally, the junkyard fleet of Quinnsville found success commensurate with its size, rounding out a profitable month for Queen Annetta's merchants. Eslandolan Trade Fleet arrives Far Smaller than When it Left While the red queen was overjoyed with the gold flowing into her covers, the bitter King Fernando was less pleased. Already displeased with the performance of his navy during the pirate purge operation, the results have been reported to have sent him into a jealous rage of the Corrington success. Time will tell if the King's temper will sour the cordial relationship in place between both nations. The Double Duty trade run began ominously with the escort flagship Dark Lightning being captured during a skirmish with the pirate vessel Hasslin Hector. Whether due to the removal of an incompetent commodore, or simply to protect their honour in light of their ignoble performance, the remaining Eslandan naval vessels successfully fought off preying vessels during the remaining of the voyage, including the infamous Billyjack II. Thanks to their efforts, only one merchant ship, the Wringe II was damaged, and forced to port early. If that had not been enough to rile the throne, the fate of the Dragon's Teeth trade fleet was sure to have driven the royal person fits of anger. Led by escort flagship Dread Treasure, this trio of Eslandolan captain's proved far less capable than all those before them. Firstly, the Cotton Lady was put upon by the Black Mermaid, Captain Greyskars' deadly reaver. Coming to its aid, the Dread Treasure misjudged the wind and managed to de-masted itself, and became easy prey for the pirate. Shaken, the convoy pressed on only to become overly spread during a foggy night. Down swooped pirate Captain LeColeon's squadron. Without much resistance, they scopped up the Fenix Rising, Banana Boat, and La Transferrata and left only corpses in their wake. Upon returning port, the widows of the merchant crews pelted the escort's crews with rotten produce until the crowd was dispersed by the local militia. When we asked one of the rioters to compare their fleets success to that of Corrington, Marcus Knopflerio said: "Now look at them yo-yo's that's the way you do it. You fly the red flag on the bright, blue sea. That ain't workin' that's the way you do it. Money for nothin' and your ships for free." He then sadly proceeded back to his job as a warehouse hand, moving custom wood stoves and ice boxes. Free Trader Fleet Finds its Way Recently recognized as legitimate free traders by the great powers, the vessels of many independant merchants found profit in their voyages this month. All three fleets successfully completed their uneventful runs, with only the mysterious loss of the Night's Gold to blemish the record. Should this luck continue, they will find more and more established investors looking to underwrite their voyages. Captain Trips on Rock - Finds Treasure IN other news, while searching for a suitable location to take on water, the most fortunate Captain Darksten managed to trip over a small rock while in the process of giving orders. The result was not just a broken arm, but the chance discovery of the famed treasure of Oxbley. Reports have it that the crew of the Novitus preceeded to Bastion forthwith, and many a song was sung. Secretive Oleon Trader Fleets Has Moderate Success... We Think Taking measures to keep the secret of their recent massive success from prying eyes , the trade routes of the Oleon merchant fleet was not posted publically, and the rfruits of their labours have not been widely reported. But the following pieces of information have been confirmed. In action on rough seas, the Oleon escorts Fairmont and Orion were lost to the squadron of the Mardier privateer Darrien El'Tonia. Official dispatches were immediately sent to the king's represenative in Mardier in hopes coming to a mutual understanding on the matter; Regaining some honour for the Oleon navy, the Galaxie captured an armed priate sloop; The Comet was lost in high seas; and, Due to flagrant drunkeness of the duty watch, the Little Hermes ground itself on a reef. Salvage efforts proved successful. Cub Reporter Lost in Action Master Joachim Smith of our Bastion office was recently lost to us in unfortunate circumstances. It seems the young reporter had noticed that for the last two months Captain Emil Meloche had gone to sea and seemingly sailed around aimlessly to no purpose. Eye witnesses say when the young Smith, hungry to make a name for himself, stopped Meloche while his disembarked from the Donatus and questioned him regarding this very matter, he was promptly shot dead, after which the pirate muttered "Nae comment" under his breath. It seems no one had told the victim about the short temper of the so called Dark Bishop of Charlatan Bay. Donations to this newspaper's timeliness fund in lieu of flowers are appreciated. ===/===/=== Official Game Results ===/===/=== GUEST EDITOR'S NOTE: Sorry, but I did not have the time to calculate the faction totals or do a complete write up for this month due to the short turn-around. I am sure I missed some combats and significant events too. But with poor Ska up to his ears in real life commitments, this will have to tide you ravenous dogs over for now. :)
  19. Hi guys, I guess it's still the 25th somewhere on the dark side... of the moon So here goes, part II of Oleon's side of the build-off with Namere. Investigating “A fresh lemon scent.” That was all that the crew of La Recouvrance noticed when they arrived at their rendezvous point with Scimitar and Commerce de Breshaun. Nothing else. The ships were gone. Other crews had reported seeing a ship flying a changing set of flags, causing them to run, since only pirates would change their flags to unlawfully prey on ships. And several reports hinted at an involvement of the Namerians, so Granoleon decided to have the ambassador in Balmin launch an investigation. The Royal Court knew the Namerians were opposing any trade relations with the Marderians, and would offer letters of marque to anyone to interrupt trade routes. But there hadn't been any trade between Oleon and Mardier in years, so should the rumors of an Namerian involvement turn out to be true, seizing both vessels would have been an act of piracy, not to be justified by any letter of marque! So a private investigator was hired to shed some light on the mysterious disappearance of the two ships and Namere's role in this story. The investigator's first stop were the docks in Balmin. But so far he has had no luck finding any traces. But suddenly... could it be? A fresh lemon scent! It's a start. But will it lead somewhere? Thanks for watching C&C as always welcome! Vive le Roi!
  20. In the bars and taverns of Bastion all sorts of tales are told, especially once enough grog starts to flow. One such story is that of Captain Leon Dracken and the Witch Yolanda... ...a story that begins half a century ago, at the midst of the Forty-Nine Year War, when Admiral Leon Dracken of Oleon was charged with escorting a Priest of Hades to Oleon's early colonies to 'ensure their spiritual purity and discipline'. Not an unusual task, Dracken thought. And, as he would tell himself later, refusal could have meant death... ...but the company of soldiers the priest brought with him was unusual. While Admiral Dracken remained on the ship the priest and soldiers ventured inland to wipe out the followers of the Lord of Deep Waters. The results would be recorded by history as the Blackwater Massacre. The survivors were brought onboard Dracken's ship as prisoners to be taken back to Oleon. Dracken had no doubt any fate other than public execution awaited the prisoners... ...but a storm brought Dracken's voyage to a sudden stop as his ship was battered, broken and began to sink... ...the priest ordered the prisoners remain locked up for their heresies. Dracken disagreed, violently, and as the priest bled out on the deck Dracken tried to save those below... Oleon records that both Dracken and the priest went down with the ship ensuring as many of the crew made it to longboats as possible, and their story ends there. Elsewhere, the story sometimes takes a stranger turn... ...some tell that Leon Dracken and a Blackwater witch named Yolanda were the last to a boat, and that the storm separated them from the other survivors. That Dracken and Yolanda spent days aboard the longboat before the already scant supplies ran out. Dracken was the first to pass out from hunger and dehydration... ...only to awake on an unknown island where Yolanda lead him to a cavern. And within the cave lay a fountain of strangely glowing water... "For the lives you have saved," Yolanda said, "a reward. And for the lives you could not, the burden of your guilt. A life renewed." ...Yolanda bade Dracken drink... ...The effects were immediate, and quite painful... ...And so Dracken left that mysterious isle to begin his career as a pirate. Yolanda remained with him for a time, but eventually the two were parted. Of course, that is just a tall tale, the sort sailors like to tell, isn't it? To the east the real Leon Dracken and one of his crew, the witch Iosefka, have been following Father Tholeau's journal out beyond the known seas. "Hmm", Captain Dracken says to himself, "no one here." "You could hardly be expecting someone," Iosefka says, "from the wrecks on the beach it seems no soul has ventured in some time." "Expecting? No," Dracken says softly, "but hope is the curse of humanity." "I must ask," Iosefka adds, "have you been here before?" Dracken pauses to examine the fountain, filled with brackish green water. "Perhaps," He answers, quietly, "perhaps I have."
  21. After the agents of the Crown and the much esteemed Oleander cartographers pinpointed the "almost exact" location of the Fountain of Youth according to the rumors already in circulation, an expedition from the already bustling city of Belson took off in order for the Fountain of Youth to be found for the glory of our mighty nation! Preparations were assigned to Hugo D' Offren, an officer of the Crown that had proved its value more than once on these rough lands across this hostile ocean that had already claimed many ships and sailors. Sadly for Hugo, the leadership of this expedition was assigned to an Oleander noble (obviously due to his closer family ties with the King), freshly arrived from the mainland. Ooh, how infuriating that was for Hugo, especially now that he had already established his name and capabilities at New Terra Islands... And so the expedition reached this underwater grotto that their big ships couldn't navigate in. Three rowboats were downed at the sea with their crew hand picked. One rowboat full of marines was to guard the entrance of this grotto from the cliff above, just in case... But obviously they had their fair share of action as well... ...while the rest were about to proceed inside. Hearty, muscular sailors started to row and navigate around shallow reefs with underwater eyes always fixed on them... And when the light was about to abandon them, they gasped in amazement... The cave they reached was glittering with something like gold dust in the air (later on, due to an Eslandolan invention called magnifying glass, they found out they were really small fireflies), it smelled strangely pleasing and above all... it was teeming with plants and vines! How could that be??? What we used to learn at our academies back home, was that plants couldn't survive without sunlight. Yet this underwater cave was full of glorious plants and vines! That must sure be the work of this small but deep pond in the middle of the cave... We had just discovered... The Fountain of Youth!!! What is not told at this story is that many years later, scientists found out that the water in the pond was not miraculous at all. It contained some forms of bacteria along with some sulfur that nourished the skin and made it look younger. But until then, we will let our protagonists be happy that they achieved immortality C&C always welcome! As always, a big thank you to Mpyromaxos for his lovely photographing and photo-editing capabilities! Also inspiration came from the always great Sid Meier (photo below), from Disney's PoTC and from the countless documentaries, books and stories i have read about the fascinating Age of Sails.
  22. "...On the 15th night of the journey, the priest of Zeus, Father Tholeau, snuck inside the captain’s boat and lowered her to the sea. Once detached from the fleet he set sail in the small skiff... Here we follow Father Tholeau, sneaking out off the cabin's window and into the small boat. It was night time as you can see on a picture. Or was it noon after lunch as seen in another picture? Which version do you prefer? Whatever the case, Eslandolan marines shouldn't mingle with the crew, because alcohol distracts you. After quite some days and nights, Father Tholeau reputedly reached a small rock protruding from the vast sea. On it, a gorgeous mermaid was standing, staring at the sea. "Hello Mylaidy", said Father Tholeau "Hello to you too dear mariner. I am Iris, the fairer of all mermaids in this vast sea", replied the gorgeous mermaid. - "And I am Father Tholeau. Nice to meet you. It seems i am lost on my way home, after discovering the Fountain of Youth. Can you show me the way to LeBellan?" - "Of course my dear. You must travel northeast and you shall reach it in seven days and seven nights. But beware, for i am not alone in this vast sea. I have many sisters, all of them wicked to the bone. They feed off stray mariners like yourself. Dont let their beauty fool you. You will be devoured at an instance." - "Thank you again Mylaidy. I wont fall for them for i am a man of Faith and am devoid of human lust. I am off. Have a great day!" ... But lust gets the better of men as Father Tholeau couldn't resist the mermaids' temptation. Not even the water he drank from the Fountain of Youth couldn't prevent him from being dragged into the abyss of the sea by the mermaids and so he was drowned, ending his life but not his legacy which continued to live on through his diary... Thank you for watching. C&C welcome!
  23. I've lately been thinking about how we, as MAESTRO, should expand our fleet - many more small ships just take up so much space! So I decided to let our best shipbuilders help design a ship which can help us to deal with that problem. They have come up with one of the biggest ships I've ever seen, it is just about the same size as the Margot, but this is not a Warship! It is a ship meant for carrying a lot of cargo while still being able to defend itself against most enemies. At least I hope so, considering she is armed with 24 guns! She'll be commanded by Captain Lamar Evercrees`. Now we just have to wait for our order of sails to arrive to send THE PRIDE OF ELYSABETHTOWN off to her first journey! So, time for pictures - just 5 of them for now, as it got knocked over by the wind while I was taking these and I have to fix some stuff (and the wind got even worse, so...): (Maxim, please use this picture for the index) So, now its time to wait for the new classes as this ships doesn't fit into the current ones. I guess it could be something along the lines of 8T or similar as the current tradeships tend to have a gunrating 2 levels lower than their class. With the bowsprit she"s roughly a meter long, just barely fits in my window where she'll be sitting. I haven't decided if I want to make sails for it, I feel like my typical sails would just downgrade this ship. I'll see about that. The rigging will stay as it is as it already kinda survived falling over and being covered by a blanket (which it was standing on). Rigging is a pain as some of you should know ;) Credit goes to many people: Captain Green Hair for his tutorials and encouraging me to go with red gunports and many more hints he gave me Maxim I for building the Margot and inspiring me to build a double decker with CGHs technique Bregir for encouraging me to not go with a partially disarmed ship of the line and instead build an Indiaman (and some more shiptalk) MAESTRO for support Sebeus I for his amazing stern designs which I used to build mine Many more shipbuilders who's builds I used for inspiration
  24. Dramatis Personae: Previously: http://www.eurobrick...opic=127388&hl= Somewhere on the high seas... Captain, it's no use! We can't catch the Absolutely Fabulous. Our ship is just not fast enough. Then feast your eyes on this latest marvel of Oleon engineering! I have commisioned a ship with double the sails for double the speed! Behold, the Bieber Fever! She has a speed rating of 6! Alois can't run from me now! HA HA HA HA HA HEE HEE HEE HEE HEE!!! Sir, there's no ship class with a speed rating of 6 in this game. My dear, dear Dieter. Stop and think for a second. She can be whatever we want her to be if we don't license her! HA HA! The master naval tactician strikes again! That's genius, sir! Sir! The crew can't figure out how the rigging works! Nevermind that! There's the Absolutely Fabulous! FULL SPEED AHEAD!!! Sir, the Absolutely Fabulous is sailing through the narrow cliffs! We won't make it! It's too late! We'll hit the cliffs! BRACE FOR IMPACT!!! Alois, my love. You have beat me again like only you can. But I'll be back for you. I'll be back with all my heart. All comments and criticisms welcome!

    [ESL-FB2] The Mason of Pontelli

Tall and strong and skilled and whistling the Mason of Pontelli is chiseling and when he's finished each one who sees it says "ah". Marty the Mason is instructing his son how to work on a statue that was obviously ordered by some pirate. Upstairs you will find some of Marty's other work. The rock on the left is yet to be turned into something decent... I hope that someone will note the chandelier... Pics are larger, better and brighter on flickr. (You may need to scroll down a bit.) C&C welcome.
