The Glittering Caverns The Carnites keep a tight reign on their plans and discoveries on El Oleonda, however, recently some careless troops let a supposed discovery slip while drinking in a local pub in one of the fledging settlements. As the story goes, two scouts were on the hunt for a escaped Loti prisoner and got lost in the think jungle. Cave 1 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr In the wandering, they stumbled upon a cave and decided to take refuge for a short time before attempting to regain their bearings. Cave 2 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr As one solider lit his torch and climbed through the very narrow opening, he was surprised to find that his torch light was greatly magnified by all sorts of gemstone imbedded into the rock! The Carnite soliders had heard rumors of caves like this, but never in their wildest dreams would they have thought to see one in brick! Cave 3 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr All they knew is that their superiors would be most pleased with such a discovery! -------------------------------------- My entry for category B. It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to do with this entry, but I'm quite pleased with the end result. I'm not fully satisfied with how I ended up attaching the stones as it looks a little wonky, but overall it was a fun little scene to build so I'll give it a pass. C&C are welcome a appreciated!

In the Third Book of the Second Age, the Triuri tells us that there are numerous islands in the far eastern sea upon which can be found 'waters' that provide some measure of regeneration and age retarding effects. Many of these, the Triuri warns, have dangerous costs. At the time, that revelation spurred on adventurers to find these islands. Only a hand full of were ever found by these epic explorers. All had some danger to the drinking, but the worst was on an island they called Sgian Ghuin. This happened more than three thousand years ago. During the ensuing millennia, The Truachesh civilization faded from prominence, and eventually passed into obscurity. Some records were lost, and maps not added to the Holy Text were infrequently copied. The exact locations of these known fountains were forgotten. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ylsbeth the Starcatcher had studied long and hard to become the youngest High Priestess of the Crahaish neh Triuri. One of her focuses was on the great epics of the Truachesh High Period, and she had spent many nights using what historical records remained to plot her ancestors' travels onto modern charts. Because of the current major governments' expansion Ylsbeth has again taken to plotting the ancient epics on the new maps of Terraversa Sea. Recently the circulation of the story about Father Tholeau having found what he called the Fountain of Youth made High Priestess Ylsbeth the Starcatcher worried. She pushed the rest of the Crahaish neh Triuri to mount an expedition, to find and guard the most dangerous of the known 'fountains' from the Truachesh epics. So that is why the Island Rose was commissioned, and outfitted for a long voyage. And using the ancient accounts, the crew of Triuri faithful, and Ylsbeth herself, have found Sgian Ghuin. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here High Priestess Ylsbeth the Starcatcher stands below the ancient Truachesh built archway, which proclaims the dangers of drinking the 'water' found here. It reads, 'Man will die if he does not drink this from the mouth of a woman.' As Ylsbeth is the only woman on this voyage, any of the crew who wish to brave the water's effects, must drink it from her mouth. Here it can be seen that the Truachesh archway isn't the only embellishment this place has seen. Another culture, much older and long gone, marked this site as well. Also, it seems that later men have tried to drink without understanding the warning. Captain Hammish Grei has decided to brave drinking the water from Ylsbeth's mouth. Ylsbeth takes a small sip herself. Even though she is still quite young, her breasts firmed up from the bit of sag she has had in the past year, her skin softened, the wear on her teeth repaired, and even the mild upset stomach from some stale hardtack went away. Holding more of the water in her mouth, Ylsbeth steps down, setting the goblet aside. She motions Captain Grei to stand where she had, and absently wonders how much it would change a man twenty years her senior. Quickly Hammish steps up, and sips from her mouth, open in offering. As he drinks deeper, Ylsbeth kisses him teasingly, then steps back. The change is near immediate, and Captain Grei now looks to be a barely a man of twenty-five. Consort Taliesin the Lightbringer celebrates their success. How he got on that ledge, and why, are a tale for another time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here are some empty overview shots. A good look at the 'water' flowing into the pool. And a better shot of the pool from above. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eight more detail images can be found in this Flickr album. What do you think?

[SR - Ch3 - Cat B] Dark Shores and Darker Seas...
kaiju posted a topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
And this is what happens when you have only a few hours before the deadline, and only one partially complete build, but are determined to enter something into this category... Once back in a tavern in Bastion Captain Dracken gathered his officers in a private room with plenty of grog. Several rounds of drinks later First Mate Jakes had to ask once more question about the Fountain. "So what happened to the other guy?" he asked, "this father... Tholeua?" Before Dracken could offer his thoughts Iosefka interrupted. "They say dead men tell no tales," she began, "but truely the living need listen more attentively. For Tholeau's fate is no great enigma to those inclined to hear..." The Last Island... Truely, Tholeau had drunk of the Fountain and been restored. But youth has its own curses, recklessness prime amongst many. He went on to the next island heedless of the cost he had incurred, for his selfish use of the Fountain had angered the local spirits and roused the ghosts of all who had gone before him. On the third and final of those islands he found another cave. Of course he had to know what treasure lay on this island. But he found no treasure. Only bones, and hatred for the life he had claimed for himself. And try as he want his legs availed him not. And deep in the caves of that isle he still lays. Water he sought. Water he did find. One Last Answer "So, Althea asked, "if Tholeau died on that island how did his journal get out?" "The dead," Iosefka answered, "do not all rest easy on dark nights and wyrd tides. And Tholeau, he seek immortality above all else. Death not keep his tale untold, and so he become myth. Myth not die so quietly or quickly." "What you're saying," Jakes said, "is that his ghost carried his journal off that island." "It would not be the strangest thing we have seen." Dracken said. A very last minute category B entry, because I just haven't the energy for a second elaborate build. Some "clean" shots of the cavern and it's contents are behind the spoiler button.- 12 replies

Pineapples for Peace? After getting the field camp set up for the enlisted troops, Major Brickford and his aide set about making a campsite ready for themselves. After the tent had been put up, they decided to relax a bit after a long journey. Officers Field Camp 3 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr While the Major removed his sword and hat for evening, Anthony played a tune on his lute. In the background, a redheaded Highlander that they picked up in Spudkirk was busy happily cutting firewood. Officers Field Camp 4 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr Then suddenly, out of the bushes came two men looking like quite scruffy! They looked like native hunters, but there was something very odd about them. Officers Field Camp 5 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr Being on high alert for things like this, all there men sprang into action! Nathaniel quickly grabbed his sword prepared to fight to the death white the Highlander and Anthony reached for their guns. Officers Field Camp 6 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr The situation was quickly diffused when one of the natives quickly sheathed his machete and then bowed in front of Major Brickford. Only one word was spoken, "Peace", before they disappeared into the bushes once again. Officers Field Camp 7 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr All the men stood around their campfire dumbfounded asking just one question... what in the world had just happened? Officers Field Camp 8 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr ---------------------------------------------------------- My entry for category C! Technically on time and technically a bit late at the same time, hopefully leadership will see fit to let it slid in? Thanks for looking and C&C are welcome and appreciated! Overview of the whole build in the spoiler below
