For ages known as Zebra (a code name before release, similar to banana for Hidden Side), TLG officially announced today (July 1st) the new LEGO Art theme, starting with four sets: 31197 Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe 31198 The Beatles 31199 Marvel Studios Iron Man 31200 Star Wars Sith Each set makes one of 3-4 mosaics, with the Iron Man and Sith sets being combinable to form a mega picture from 3 sets. With one set you can make 1 Beatle, 1 Marilyn Monroe, etc. The prices for each set are US$120/€120/£115. These will be available from August 1st everywhere excluding US and Canada for The Beatles, Marilyn Monroe and the Sith. Iron Man is available universally on August 1st. For those thinking this has been mentioned before, it has, but not in its own deserved thread, and basically only names of sets + theme. There was never the deserved own thread, and no pictures, which is why I’m creating it now! I don’t know about everyone else but I’m hyped for these - though disappointed at the price... Hi everyone I'm happy to share my second MOC which I have been working on over the last 5 months. I build the MOC with BrickLink Studio 2.0 and used the new Eyesight Render for my images. The MoMA - Museum of Modern Art is a MOC modular building inspired by modern architecture. The MOC has several highlights like a staircase fully made of glass bricks or a full-functional elevator on the backside. The MOC includes many of advanced building techniques and has a high level of details on each floor. It’s built on two standard 32 x 32 base plate and includes 18 minifigures, 28 paintings and 8 sculptures. The dimensions of building are 10.2x20.6x18.2 inches (width x length x height) or 26 x 52.3x46.2 cm. Level 1 - Entrance – Museum Store – Art Gallery The first floor contains the main entrance of the museum with a cash desk and a small design store for gifts and souvenir. The art gallery on the ground floor contains 6 paintings and 3 sculptures. Minifigures Older couple interested in modern art Museum employee operates the cash desk Store seller serves a customer Art-hipster buys a souvenir Security guard enjoying his coffee break Art Student looks at the sculpture Tourist interested in art Level 2 – Restroom – Art Gallery On the second floor there is a toilet for visitors and a gallery with a view into the ground floor. The art gallery on the second floor contains 11 paintings and 1 sculpture. Minifigures Artist looking for new inspiration Art interested friends couple Level 3 – Security Control Room – Art Gallery – Art Terrace On the third floor there is a security control room to monitor the valuable paintings and sculptures. A highlight in the art gallery in this floor is the large flower sculpture. A small outdoor area offers further space for abstract sculptures. The art gallery on the second floor contains 5 paintings and 3 sculptures. Minifigures Security guard what happens in the museum Father inspires his daughter for art Art lecturer during his lunch break Level 4 – Viewing platform – Art Café On the fourth floor there is a small Viewing platform on the top of the building. In the cozy art café, visitors can enjoy a piece of cake and coffee while enjoying the view through the large panorama window. Minifigures Barista conjures a work of art from every coffee. Flameo my fellow Avatar fans, I’m a huge fan of ATLA and I need your help. Recently I have submitted a project on LEGO IDEAS, it's the Spirit Oasis from Avatar: The Last Airbender. The School of Athens (Scuola di Atene) is one of the best pieces of art in the history of humanity, here's the Lego version: The School of Athens was completed in 1511 and is not only considered Raffaello Sanzio's finest work, but also the work that sums up the spirit of the Renaissance. My brother has struggling to finish this project properly and almost set it aside and gave up. I took it over and finished it in a smaller scale. Why "The School of Athens"? With so many sets based on movie and on pop culture, we thought it was only right to give art in the traditional sense a chance at becoming an official product. For us, this painting represents humanity, explicitly and implicitly. Just at first galnce, some aspects of human knowledge are visible: architecture, painting, sculpture, philosophy, anatomy, cosmology, but also things inherent to the work: manual rendering of materials and surfaces, colour theory or the perspectives that became so common around then. But the fun of it are the layers of extra meaning it bears. The figures stand in certain angles, perpetually braking the symmetry, linking geometry to the real world. Raphael crafted the characters so they are immensely expressive and vital; they really do feel alive, something I feel my brother has also achieved, they interact, they discuss, they disagree, they agree, they are typically human: they cooperate with one another, something the ancients can teach us. I believe this is not a mere fresco, it is a piece of art that can teach us. Who is who? Represented here are some of the most important philosophers, mathematicians and thinkers of ancient Greece, Rome and even muslim Spain. Some of the statues are pagan gods and some of the figures have the faces of eminent Renaissance figures, with Heraclitus having Michelangelo's face, Euclid having Bramante's face and Apelles having the painter's face, all in all, a nice mix, something that also applies to today's multicultural cityscapes. Video: Fun facts about the Lego model: Originally the plan was to give the 1x1 brick with 4 studs on the sides to the women in the painting and the Erling brick to the men, but my brother ended up giving the 1x1 brick with 4 studs on the sides to male figures too, as the Erling brick didn't allow for side hair. The compass Euclid uses are some cherries. The only Olive Green pieces in the whole model are for Socrates, the originator of what today we understand as "philosophy" (the philosophers before him are today known as "pre-Socratics". The robes next to Diogenes are regular Lavander, nor Medium Lavander like the rest of the robes in the rest of the model. Only women wear Aqua garbs.

Before starting a flame, it is a rhetorical question, and the answer is, of course, no. Still, I cant help thinking of the amazing models I admire every day on flickr and the failed Ideas (due to lack of votes or non-approvals) lost forever, and I wonder if those afols realize that making one last effort to create instructions or to record a brief video tutorial could give their works the immortality they deserve. However, remembering Andy Warhol's controversial lessons, if there is the technical possibility to reproduce a piece of art, can we still consider it art? -

Hey, Introducing "Money for Nothing": An art piece based on the Dire Straits album cover "Money for Nothing". Two and a half dimensional. The same size as an LP sleeve. Includes an integrated fold-out stand, as well as a block to hang on a wall on a screw or hook. Includes some pieces in colours not currently available from Lego. Compatible pieces can be sourced for these. Also includes an image that needs to be printed on a white sticker sheet, cut to size and stuck over the top of two 6 x 6 tile pieces. MOC Charley Harper- Red and Fed in Lego I would like to present my take on Charley Harper's Red and Fed in Lego bricks. Harper's original artwork depicts a cardinal in the snow that found a corn cob for a nice meal. The viewer looks on from behind a few dried grasses in the shaded foreground that are still standing from last fall. Charley Harper was a modernist artist, best known for his highly stylized wildlife prints, posters, and book illustrations. He called his style "minimal realism", striving to capture the essence of his subjects with the fewest possible visual elements. I find this approach well suited for Lego building. I wanted to replicate the essence of his work- seemingly effortless when, at least in my case, there was so much going on below the surface. The MOC is roughly 9" x 7" (24 cm x 18 cm) and getting the fine details was very tricky at this small scale. The white background is only two studs deep to do all the SNOT work. Take a close look at the thin legs of the cardinal or the stylized corn cob behind the silhouette of the light foliage. It took a long time to find the right combination of parts to capture the thin features of the plants. Look closely and you might spot a fishing rod, an umbrella, hand cuffs and more. While there is a little trickery in the build, it is all strictly Lego parts with no modifications. The trickery only becomes apparent upon close inspection from an angle. Notice how the foliage is built up of several independent mountings on two planes, aligned to create the appearance of a single object. We have a print of Harper's Red and Fed in our dining room, so I see Harper's work every day. Many years ago, I built my first Lego interpretation of this cardinal and that sparked the inspiration to build the entire picture. It evolved over several years, the idea for the corn came next and while the corn is largely unchanged, ultimately, I had to completely redo the cardinal. As my build was all coming together, my Lego User Group was preparing to set up a display at the Columbus Museum of Art. Although the main display is a minifig diorama, the museum was interested in a few pieces to hang on the walls. I showed the partially completed MOC and they wanted it, but they stipulated that it had to be behind glass. So, I had to abandon the brick built frame in my model and this build has an unusual size to fit the non-Lego frame required for the museum (not shown). For these photos I took it out of that frame and demonstrate two different ways it could be displayed using strictly Lego parts. So my girlfriend and I (but mostly my girlfriend ) have this obsession with baby swans. We think they're just the cutest things ever! We used to go for walks specifically to see the local specimens and I believe we have hundreds of pictures of our beloved cygnets. We even have our own lingo to describe them: a baby swan is called a "swanling" and older specimens that still haven't left their parents are called "sweenagers". A swanling MOC was therefore inevitable. Inspired by the recent Lego Art sets, I went with a 2D approach mixing smooth SNOT for the main elements with a softer studs-up mosaic for the background in order to get a nice contrast. This was my first time doing such a mosaic, but I had a lot of fun with it, especially because I could take it nice and loose which was quite relaxing after solving an intricate SNOT puzzle for weeks. It really felt like painting with bricks! Speaking of painting, recently I've also been very inspired by painting techniques, so I tried to play with colors in the shadows and highlights of the swanling to give it some vibrancy. This was a lot of fun to play around with, but also posed an interesting challenge because bricks had to be oriented in specific direction in order to come to the right color gradients. [MOC] Cute little swanling by Bert Van Raemdonck, on Flickr In the end, I realized I was going in a Beatrix Potter direction, so I leaned into it and made the scene a little bit more whimsical by giving our cute little swanling a little caterpillar buddy to play around with. I also tried to emphasize the playfulness of the swanling by exaggerating the proportions and pose a bit. The build is multifunctional, so there is the ability to detach paintings and display them as picture frames, or hang them on a real wall.

The region of Azov sea a tasty piece for the orcs. Unfortunately, after 86 days of siege the big industrial city fell. This art dedicated to all defanders of Mariupol and Azovstal plant. Hello Creator and Disney fans, Mickey Mouse is a legendary American cartoon character co-created in 1928 by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. Steamboat Willie is a 1928 American animated short film directed by them. It was produced in black and white and this cartoon is considered the debut of both Mickey and Minnie Mouse. The longtime icon and mascot of The Walt Disney Company, Mickey is an anthropomorphic mouse who typically wears red shorts, large yellow shoes, and white gloves. This is a studless model and everything is brick-built, stickers are not used. I wanted to create a clean model which is as accurate as possible in this scale. It includes many typical details: the yellow shoes, the red pants with white buttons etc.. Maybe the most challenging one was the head with some tricky build techniques. Together with my mother Anne Mette I have built this LEGO model of Shiva Nataraja. Nataraja is a depiction of the Hindu god Shiva as the divine cosmic dancer. He dances within a circle of flames, which symbolically represent the cosmic fire that in Hindu cosmology creates everything and consumes everything. It also symbolizes the cycle of life. His upper right hand holds a small drum shaped like an hourglass. It symbolizes rhythm and time. His upper left hand contains fire, which symbolizes forces of creation and destruction. The dwarf upon whom he dances is the demon Apasmara, who symbolizes the demonic evil and ignorance over which the sacred dance of Shiva gives victory. More information: Nataraja - Wikipedia

This colorful LEGO mosaic of mine was made in Jan. 2022. https://flic.kr/p/2mZhC7j https://flic.kr/p/2mZiVri Color Explosion by c.behrens, on Flickr It is made of 4 x 9 = 36 stk. 32 x 32 LEGO baseplates. It gives a total of 36.864 studs or 1 x 1 LEGO bricks. It measures 102 x 230 cm.I have used bricks and not plates. There is used a total of ca. 18 kg LEGO bricks included baseplates.It contains a total of 64 different colored LEGO bricks. It was my goal to get as many different LEGO colors in it as possible. The brand new 2022 color Neon Yellow is also in it. And also the color Light Nougat that is new in basic bricks is in it.It even contains a Metallic Silver brick in the middle and also a 1 x 1 brick in Pearl Gold rains as stardust over the artist name. In the middle there is a ring of "fire" that is made of the brick color Glow In Dark White. That way the picture attracts attention even in the night.The picture has the working title of Color Explosion, but I have 21 suggestion for new / better / other titles:1. And it also reminds me that life comes in many colors and shades. There are sad gray days and those wonderful bright days where everything shines. Lifes ups and downs.In the evening when I go tired to bed it reminds my of, that it would be nice with a lovely colorful and explosive orgasm.
