  1. Do BDP set instructions go public like the normal set instructions are available on the LEGO website, or do you only have access if you build the set? I’m not fussed about actually buying this set, but I’m planning on building a Great Northern Railway EMD F7 A-B-B-A set and haven’t decided whether I like this or Tony Sava’s design (you can buy the instructions online) more.
  2. The BDP set looks brilliant, but honestly it’s so similar to Tony Sava’s EMD F7 design available on Brick Train Depot that I’m not fussed with getting it and would rather do one in a livery I chose (I’m thinking GNR…). I do think it’s got some nice techniques though and I may modify the F7 with some of those (particularly thinking of the corner curved slopes on the bonnet).
  3. List on the top post now updated. Any more rumours on anything known? We are of course now without a Hogwarts Express...
  4. Very impressed with this set and the loco a first of its kind since CITY launched in 2004/5! I like that they’ve kept with the old 6x10 container design, used for the builders’ portacabin in 7905 Tower Crane and then freight containers since 7994 LEGO CITY Harbour in 2007. Those us with a big collection dating back 20+ years…the same containers still fit anywhere. With the new sets not containing a full loop I’m starting to think they should do a set that’s just a full track loop as right now it’s an expensive route for a circle through official sets. This year’s CITY train sets now cover 60506, 60508, 60509 and 60511. 60510 has been taken by the advent calendar, but I can’t help but wonder what 60507 might be. Seems like there’s absolutely no news on that set of any kind at all. Also hadn’t thought about this but given that we’re getting a new tram (albeit very different from the last), and 60423 Downtown Streetcar and Station now being 2 years old is it likely this will retire at the end of the year?
  5. Might be, or I think you can fit a train motor in there actually. Circuit cubes are great but my goodness they're loud! Any idea based on previous set releases when we're likely to find out prices in other currencies?
  6. Pretty sure Joe (Breckland Bricks) does them in those sizes, and if not he's got an amazing custom design service that I use fairly often for any rods and wheels you may be able to think of not immediately available. I know with new EU laws he's unable to sell to that market anymore though.
  7. I like 60511, but as usual, the PU upgrade is stupidly expensive for a US$90 set (don't know the £ price yet). Absolutely LOVE 60506 though - might be the first city set I've bought in a while... I've updated the set list as necessary. Still waiting to hear anything on 60509 "Port Freight Train with Crane and Truck", though.
  8. (Catching up after a few weeks) This looks terrific! Been looking at doing my own GG1 for a while now and this might inspire me to bump it up the (~70-odd locomotives) list. Don’t suppose you know what its parts availability is in dark green?
  9. Terrific job here @TeddytheSpoon! Instantly recognisable prototype and you've nailed it. Brilliant to see it in another scale as well - I've seen plenty of 7/8 wide Ivatt 2-6-2Ts but never in this scale, so it's great to see something new.
  10. Definitely curious about some of these! I’m looking forward to seeing the new tram particularly - I’ve liked some of their city trams but I thought the last one was a little disappointing. I’ve updated the list on the first page. The latest copy of Blocks magazine included an interview with the current head of City, who took over back in 2023/2024 with a 3 year plan: 2024: Get the City theme back on track. I’d say this has definitely been successfully accomplished. 2025: Focus on and improve key City themes: Police, Fire and Construction. There’s definitely been a good return of construction sets in the past year or two, and this might explain the police train. 2026: New sets, new parts. Perhaps this is where trains is headed? The end of the passenger/freight series, more variation in trains, and maybe new train-related pieces appearing in 60511? I think whatever happens, the 2024 goal of getting City back on track has been hugely successful in my opinion, and with some new train sets of a kind we’ve not seen in City since its creation in 2004 and seemingly more to come, I’m excited to see where it goes.
  11. Very nice “Brighton Baltic” @Darkkostas25! Actually been looking into doing an LB&SCR L1 so it’s good to see others’ models - and the OE livery looks smart as well. Also really like the name - it fits well alongside Sapphire Star perfectly.
  12. To be fair for a lot of people that’s the aim. When I’m exhibiting at model railway shows with my club (LUKR) one of the most common remarks (in a tone of amazement) is “I didn’t even realise it was LEGO!” to which our answer is always “Thanks!”. Can see that isn’t everyone’s though.
  13. With the retirement of the latest Hogwarts Express set, leaving only the small one in the book nook, based on previous years I'm also expecting another Hogwarts Express to be released in 2026 (the 2018 set retired in December 2022, and the next one (just retired) launched in June 2023).
  14. LEGO Trains 2026 thread with an up-to-date set list is up now!
  15. Well, it's that time of year again and with the new 60508 Police Train Heist just leaked, I suppose it's time to start this thread. Here's the usual list of recent years' sets - 2019-2021 have been removed as all sets from these years have now been retired. Standard Train Sets 2026 60506 Beachside Tram 60508 Police Train Heist 60509 Harbour Freight Train 60511 Retro Steam Train 2025 10361 Holiday Express Train 60470 Explorers' Arctic Polar Express Train 60469 Central Train Station 2024 60423 Downtown Streetcar & Station 2023 21344 Orient Express 76423 Hogwarts Express & Hogsmeade Station 2022 60335 Train Station 60336 Freight Train 60337 Express Passenger Train 76405 Hogwarts Express Collector's Edition 10308 Holiday Main Street (trolley/tram) 2018 75955 Hogwarts Express 60197 Passenger Train 60198 Cargo Train 60205 Tracks 60238 Switch Tracks Sets in bold are those confirmed for 2026 Sets with a strikethrough have been retired Sets in italics are ones expected to be retired in 2026. Let me know if I've missed any! Bricklink Designer Program Train Sets At least one train set is confirmed in the Bricklink Designer Program, but that has its own thread elsewhere in the Train Tech. Discuss below, and as usual @JopieK maybe pin the thread?
