  1. Fire Ant - Tilting go-cart Instructions are available on rebrickable. Entry topic can be found here. A big thank you to everybody involved in this topic ! One-minute pitch With its wacky turning feature and inclined V4 engine, this vehicle is extremely fast and highly manoeuverable. A perfect fit for a race in an urban area. Don't forget this contest is in fact a race held in LEGO City. This race-cart finds its way through the mess created by its large and heavy opponents, without giving in on speed. And like with real ants, a Fire Ant never comes alone. Their determination and willingness to serve fellow ants that stand a better chance to win, will drive other contestants even more nuts than they already are . And to make the ant analogy complete: this model consists of three segments: The head - With its steering controlled head lights pointing into each and every turn, the front section makes sure the driver won't miss a thing and allows him to anticipate unexpected situations. The thorax - The driver section, which tilts in turns, compensates for the centrifugal force the driver is exposed to. An experienced driver can make the car turn by moving his weight into the turn. The abdomen - Equipped with a V4 engine, inclined to ensure optimal lubrication under acceleration g-forces, the rear section gives the car enough power to stay ahead of all of its opponnents. Admit it, you want to ride this animal! Base features Rear wheel drive Working steering wheel Working fake V4 Adjustable rear-spoiler Wacky feature Turning mechanism which offers 4-wheel steering and makes the driver section tilt in turns. It works like this: The driver steers the front section using the steering wheel. Steering the front section makes the driver section tilt, which in turn makes the rear section counter-steer. More qualities High manoeuverability. The turning feature combines excellent road-holding with a very small turning circle. Straight line stability. The front and rear segments are stablized with silicon bands to keep the car straight. Everything in-system. All inclined constructs rely on perfect fits derived from the Pythagorean triple (3, 4, 5). Kid-proof. Each of the three segments has been build with a high level of form-locking. Nothing will fall off.
  2. Uno's Car or His Fortressness I think some members already found out, that, two weeks after the entry stop, I'm done ... ... so this is the current state of my TC12 entry: But let's start at the beginning. This is my first time I'm entering an EB contest. I wanted to enter earlier, but neither my piece count nor my building abilities were good enough. I missed TC11, because I haven't had pneumatics at that time, and my TC12 idea turned out to be just bad. As Jim announced that the new contest will have a Wacky Wheels theme, it was absolutely clear to me, that I have to enter, while I loved the game at it's time. As it's a racing game with small carts, steered by animals, it was quite clear, that I will build something wacky in the size of 42048 Race Cart. And it should be a plane! Planed features: - full RC, 6 motors, 3 IR, normal BB - double front wheel drive by single L motor - rear wheel steering by servo - simple chassis, no suspension - wacky main function: Slipstream Avoidance Design, Main Blower Function - double Machine Gun, 10 shots - Bomb layer, 3 shots - Oil layer, 2 shots - double Turbo Booster - all by RC - 2x EMP Missiles - wacky, but fast look My first idea was to build something like this on wheels: But it turned out to be impossible for me to create the curves. So I came to a different layout, I will show you later. The chassis is done: As you can see, it's a simple chassis without suspension. While the length is only two studs longer than 42048, the wheelbase is somewhat different. You can see, that there will be a chain drive to the fake engines. From bottom. And top ... Hope you like it. Robert
  3. TECHNIC WACKY WHEELS CONTEST After a fierce battle bots competition it's time for a less serious competition. How about a Virtual Race through LEGO City using Wacky Wheels?! DESCRIPTION The Wacky Wheels competition is loosely based on the 1994 Arcade game by Apogee, which strongly puts the emphasis on fun instead of realism, both in looks and gameplay. Each contestant needs to have a wacky vehicle to participate in the most ludicrous race of the year. And you will be designing and building that vehicle! The first requirement for the vehicle is that it needs to have wheels or treads, since it is a road race! Your vehicle can be anything you want (also a boat, plane, etc), but it needs to have wheels, since it's a driving contest. The second requirement is that it needs to have at least one wacky function besides driving and steering. This function can be anything to gain an advantage in the race. Of course it can also be function to hinder your opponent. Anything goes! Thanks to Erik Leppen for pitching this idea DEADLINE Deadline date is Monday 16th of October, 2017. Contest will be closed on Tuesday 17th of October, OR LATER. Disclaimer: I will close the contest when I see fit and when I have the time to process the results. This can be later than the deadline date. Please don't complain about this not being fair and all. RULES AND REGULATIONS The following section describes the contest specific and general rules and regulations. But before that, please take notice of a simple motto regarding the Eurobricks Contests: CONTESTS ARE FOR FUN! Of course there's competition, but at the end of the day, LEGO is just a hobby and the main goal for each of us is to have fun! CONTEST SPECIFIC RULES AND REGULATIONS Each vehicle needs to have a WACKY NAME (no name, no entry). Each vehicle needs to have at least a WACKY FUNCTION (besides steering and driving). Your vehicle needs to have WHEELS and be able to drive. It can be a plane, boat, etc, but it still needs to drive during the competition. Your vehicle needs to be able to STEER. Only OFFICIAL LEGO PARTS. 3rd party STRINGS, HOSES and RUBBER BANDS are permitted. NO 3rd party tires. There is NO size limit. Model Team style building IS allowed. GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS The contest is open to all EB members (also new members). Members who joined EB after the start of the contest can be banned from voting (when vote rigging is suspected). Voting rules will be explained later in the voting topic. One entry per member. Entries need to be new (never posted anywhere previously or shown at an event/LUG meeting). Only physical builds, so no LDD or other virtual entry. If you have any doubts about the suitability of your entry contact me, or Milan. All entries are to include only real LEGO. No clone brands, 3rd party parts, or digital entries allowed. Custom stickers are allowed. No cutting, sculpting or modifying parts. Entries are to be placed in the entry topic in this forum. Entries not in the entry topic are not eligible for voting. The entry post may be edited at any time up to the end of the contest, so feel free to make improvements if you wish. The contest might be closed later than the deadline. Don't complain about this not being fair. You have enough time to build. Don't ask for more time. We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not follow these rules. These rules can be changed whenever we see fit to ensure that people follow the intent of the contest. Staff members are Jim is not eligible for winning prizes. WHAT DO I NEED TO ENTER? All participant need to create a discussion topic and create a post in the entry topic. DISCUSSION TOPIC A discussion topic starting with [TC12]. A discussion topic needs to show some actual progress (i.e. pictures of the build in progress) and should NOT be used to "reserve an idea". ENTRY POST The entry post in the entry topic should contain: Entry name. Short description explaining the function(s). One or more pictures (max 3 of max 1024x1024). Embedded video (mandatory). Link to the discussion topic. VOTING The voting criteria will be: Originality & Wackiness. Looks (shape, color scheme etc). Quality of the build. Functionality. PRIZES The LEGO Group is so kind to provide the Top-3 contestants with a great Technic set. And of course, we will be so kind to award you with eternal fame and a medal tag.

  6. I know I'm late to the party, but I had this idea for a few weeks already and did some tests, and yesterday I had time to start building on the real version. I think it's wacky enough to partipicate, although the "wacky function" is not the most original, I admit. There's no drive, just rolling, and there's no suspension. It's fully manual. It can roll (no drive, no fake engine whatsoever); and it can steer all eight bogies simultaniously. This means the vehicle doesn't "turn", the body keeps always facing the same way, but the wheels turn so it can drive anywhere it wants. There's also no "steering radius" - it can turn on the spot, which of course is an advantage in the race. Obviously, the top part (where the driver sits) turns the same way as the wheels. The "wacky function", as you may have guessed from the springs you see behind the seat, is an ejector seat. Launching the driver forward gives a tiny advantage for the last few meters before the finish (assuming the winner is the driver who crosses the line first). And of course, it's a nice way to leave the vehicle quick and clean (how to enter the vehicle, I don't know). I don't want to make this thing much more complicated, so I will be adding a nice cabin, and I will decide on a color scheme (I have some ideas already), make it a bit more sturdy and add a few details here and there, and that's pretty much it. It sounds doable to finish this before the deadline.
  7. This started off as an F1 style race car that could be flipped over and still drive. I wanted it to be manual, but I could not get the mechanism to flip the car to work, so I abandoned that part. Features: HOG Steering connected to drivers steering Rear wheel drive V-16 fake engine Independent suspension on all wheels Extending side panels Spinning blades on front wing Rear wing drops down for defense Side picture: Sides deployed and rear wing down: Video: Sorry about the quality. Video is not my strong point. More pictures can be found in my brickshelf folder, Here.
  8. Hi, I present to you: The Dragomoto The functions are: - driving (XL motor) - steering (M motor) - functions of the dragon (M motor) which is: - flapping main wings. - lifting tail up and down. - flapping tail fins All functions are powered via RC. This model is relatively small and compact and contains only 764 pieces. I will send more pictures and updates later. Hope you enjoy it!
  9. Hello! Msk again! This is my last contest before I go to korean army (go to 2017/11/28 and maybe back 2019/05) Anyway! My wacky vehicle is Jack the lifter! Design - Secret maybe name is hint? Color - Not selected yet. But in my color list, maybe black/red/LBG. Function - All function is RC. I do not know my model has enough inner space. Drive, steering, some spring-roaded wacky(really!) function.
  10. Hello Eurobrick, I wasn’t sure to participate to the TC 12 contest, but i had some idea that i could work on, so, here’s my WIP. I present you the Formula De Vil. In theory: Design: will be a mix between a rat-rod and a dragster. With big engine. Color: “I work only in black, and sometime very very dark grey” – Batman. Kidding, I would like to have a super hype black/red vehicle, but 100% chance I will not have enough part. I will do my best and try not to spend a fortune in spare part to have the right color. Propulsion : Rear wheel drive through PF-XL Steering : front wheel through PF-Servo Wacky function : lateral punch (to be confirmed) actuated by PF-L . Work is still on the draft phase, and still a lot of issue to be solved, but it’s fun. I will post update later, bye.
  11. Question: What do you get, when you cross a tank, with a banana, a scorpion, a V8 engine, and a bunch of stud-shooters? Answer: The Banana Scorpion! Color scheme: Yellow, with some black and grey. Driver: A Big Giant Banana-eating Tiger! (this one) Powered Functions: Drive: Tank tracks - powered by 2x M-motors. (also used for steering) Steering: Tank type skid steering. Engine: A massive V8 - powered by a high speed motor. Wacky function 1: Lifting hull mechanism - powered by M-motor. Wacky function 2: High speed spinning sweeper - powered via V8. Wacky function 3: The ability to tank-wheelie!!! (with some help...) Manual Functions: (aka: weapons) Cannon: A giant cannon mounted on the end of the adjustable scorpion tail. Stud-shooters: Front: 2x six-round, and 2x single-round - Rear: 4x single-round. Spring-shooters: 2x rear-mounted. (can be triggered by driver) The story of how The Banana Scorpion was built:
  12. Hey everyone, + + ^^ That's basically my TC12 entry. A yellow chopped hot rod with tracks and giant claws in the back. Features: Huge crushing claws in the back to use on racers who get too close small missiles that shoot from the claws Tracks in the back from 42069 Track-wrapped wheels in the front a huge V8 from 42050, with added flame-spitting exhaust pipes HoG steering So hopefully that shows how it got it's name. The model isn't finished. I have placeholders right now for the claws, which will be these pieces: I have to order the pieces for the sides of the body. The side that is yellow will be changed, and the side that is red will be changed to yellow. The chassis is not yet symmetrical, due to changes during the building process. Now for the pictures, so you can see everything I'm talking about. Sorry for bad quality, there was bad lighting in the room so I turned to my go-to filter to make the pics look better. ^^Here you can see the linkage for the crushing function. Another reason I've made this as a WIP topic is to get feedback to help guide the completion of this model. So tell me what you think! Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
  13. After my previous attempt at entering this competition was ruled out, I made sure my new idea wouldn't suffer the same fate before starting to build. So what makes this entry wacky? All the wheels will be mounted as casters to give omnidirectional steering. Like a hovercraft the vehicle will be blown along rather than having driven axles. As is my creative strategy at the moment my build will be limited to the sets below. I am sticking to the pocket money range for my parts. This also keeps the larger sets free for my other build. It remains to be seen if I can manage casters on all sides of the vehicle. I'm thinking only two wheels on each face need to be casters as long as the remaining two have independent axles.
  14. Finally manage to do some work on a possible entry to TC12, not sure if it'll get finished as build time is currently limited, but open to suggestions as to the concept. As it's the 40th anniversary the idea is to build two models as similar as possible 1 built out of modern 'studless' Technic, the other out of original 'studded' Technic, the other stipulation I have is that I will only use parts that I own, no bricklinking additional pieces. Any function on the new Technic half will have to be duplicated on the old Technic half. The idea is for the new half to move and then stop and wait for the old half to catch and then push the new half forward. LRC_3629f by Lucy R C, on Flickr The 'Studded Half' progress has been slow as I'm having to relearn how to build, think in 'even' numbers, and there was a lot less variety of parts available then. Note to Jim & Milan, this is the first time I've ever posted pictures so if I've got it all terribly wrong please be gentle.
  15. Hey all, Here I present my vehicle for TC12. All functions are manual, so no PF. As the name would suggest, it will have some farming related functions. * First function is the manure tank. Normally you use it for injecting manure on your fields. In this case I will use it for spraying liquids on the road to slow down other contestants. * Second function are the blades, which are normally used for mowing grass on your fields. Now it will be used for damaging other contestants. * Need to think about other functions… This is what I have for now, more progress soon.
  16. Hi all, I decided to have a go at this competition as it seemed like a laugh, and I had a lot of fun making what I currently have. My idea was to make a vehicle and strap a massive great machine gun sort of thing on it, and sticking it on the back of a truck seems like the perfect idea, right? But a truck with a machine gun on it's own would be rather boring, so I decided to give it adjustable pneumatic suspension, for those tricky bits of terrain it might encounter, and of course slam it right to the ground for that street cred. It's powered by a buggy motor, so it's pretty fast on flat surfaces. Mode 1, extremely low for maximum speed Mode 2, maximum height for off roading purposes! Of course, being hydraulic, the suspension can be at whatever height you want, but this is to prove the point. Now, my favourite part of this suspension is that it acts like the sort you'd find on one of those lowrider cars, and as such, it can pull off crazy moves like this, just for showing off purposes. The truck cab as it stands is still a work in progress, I'm not quite as good at aesthetics as I am at designing the technic part, so bear with me in that department! Here you can see the mechanism, it works with the pneumatic ram, and springs in order to give the desired effect. Tyre omitted for clarity. Apologies for the poor pictures, It's the fault of the camera. For the machine gun which I talk about, this is still all in my mind, however, I want to utilise some form of spinning disc mechanism and accelerate a plate or a technic beam at high velocity that way, but I will keep you all posted on that side of development Hope you all like it! -Ender
  17. No statistics have been revealed about this monster yet by it's makers, the geniuses and designers of Da Bricki Workshop, but rumors are that this machine packs a punch and will be truly unusual! Insert more announcer crap, superfluous speech, etc. etc. etc.... First of all, this model is going to be manual until I have a working prototype. Then, I will decide whether or not I have the time/space/ability to make it motorized with RC. Functions: 1. Drive: The rear wheels will hopefully be driven by a mid-mounted fake V-6 or V-8 engine. 2. Steering: The front wheels will have HoG steering. Thanks @Sariel for the inspiration from his RC Tumbler for the steering solution! 3. Suspension: I am aiming to have all-wheel independent suspension with small hard shocks for the front and large hard shocks for the rear. Or maybe small hard shocks for the rear, I am still testing things... 4. The Strange Function: Still secret... But the name and photo below should provide a clue... Leaked Photo in the Spoiler!
  18. Hi, Presenting my WIP TC12 entry: It has full independent suspension with one weaponized function and one wacky function. See if you can spot them both! It is full RC and pretty fast (direct drive from M motor, a little worried) I was thinking of a 3-wheeled cart but couldn't figure out a good steering system. I will be away for the next week on vacation, so no progress then. -TechnicRCRacer
  19. Started some days ago, as I have vacations. I was strugling with my Isetta project. Don't have inspiration. But it is as inspiration for my TC12 wacky car. This will be something like Isetta with big rear wheels ans smaller 4 front steered wheels First back part concept First front part concept Then second Then together Need to build some cabin with forn door and think about some third functions (i have some Lego hedgehogs, if we are talkinf about wacky wheels game inspiration ...)
