  1. Infernum

    Yeti Hunt!

As the Mitgardian spring begins Sir Infernum and Sir Glorfindel agree to go on a yeti hunt. Yeti hunts are a popular sport for Mitgardians in the spring, as the ice that made their lairs previously inaccessible begins to melt. The two Mitgardians (as well as two of Sir Infernum's friends) begin tracking a fair sized yeti. On the third day off the hunt they catch up to the beast, but not before the yeti finds his friend, a larger Bull Yeti. This will be a difficult battle... Sir Glorfindel! Sir Infernum The two together! Hope you liked the build, especially you SK! This is my first freebuild for Book II. It was a quickie, only taking an hour or two.
  2. Bkrosell

    The meeting in the Bar,

Up in Northridge I went to my favorite bar witch I rarely get to do these days. Walking in I saw a passed out solier on a table, witch made me realize for the unteenth time that most soldiers loved drinking. "Velmyre! I didnt expect to see you." said a man in the corner. " Do I know you?" was my reply. "no, you dont, but my and my boys know all about you, wich reminds me,..." " Is there a point to all this, I'd like to get my drink and go." I cut him off. "First of all my name is Hancock,if you were wondering, and yes I have a point, but its a long story, might want more than one drink." Hancock started talking about a Demon attacking their outpost by the bay of storms, witch is why he wanted me, "Il do it, I'll get rid of the demon for you," I decided " you'l need this then," he said while handing me a map. "I'll do my best" I said as I got up out of my chair. Before I was out the door Hancock caught my eye's,"Good luck! You'l need it." Now to find the one person I knew who could lend me a ship,my brother. (these pictures were changed from the original) This is my first build in a series of builds Im working on, I hope you like it, C&C is welcome,
  3. Only GoH participants are allowed to vote! Who should become the new prime minister? For their stories, backstabbing and other gossip see the original topic Drottin Manaor Lars Larsson Mich Maxersine
  4. Garmadon

    snow, Snow, SNOW!

Some have suggested that Mich Maxersine is not a true Mitgardian. How wrong these people are! Some have suggested that Mich really doesn't like snow. Watch him take his opponents down! Manaor thought he was cool Mich pelting his opponents: Larsson: Don't vote Larsson (unless you love taxes) and don't vote Manaor! All true freedom loving Historicans Vote Mich Maxersine! C&C are welcome!
  5. So, you want to know why you should vote for Mich Maxersine? Well, you've come to the right place! Mich Maxersine will keep Mitgardia's streets free of snow and ice with his all new wonder-working hot-air-blower! Melts the snow in record time! Definitely one of those 'Wonders of Historica'! We all know that soldiers dreaded the recruiting office way back when. A glance before Mich came and warmed every thing up shows us. Look at it! Just dreadful! No wonder the scribes were so grouchy! And the poor recruits! But then, Mich installed small beacon fires in strategic locations. They've worked wonders! Now the officers can actually enjoy their work! And soldiering is a pleasure! (Take a look behind the scenes here!) And don't forget Mitgardia's peasants! Poor souls, they practically froze every winter! That is, until Mich Maxersine and WARM (Warming All Resident Mitgardians) stepped in. Mich Maxersine has aided in the construction of dozens of Mitgardian stoves! So what are you waiting for! Vote Mich Maxersine today!
  6. After I learned of the Item I had to find, I did research on the Ether. After a day I heard of a rumor of a crazy wizard that hid in the mountains. Apparently he was capable of creating this ether. With the help of a friend I tracked him down deep into the mountains of mitgardia. After arriving to a wooden door I found a key in the snow , witch worked for the wooden door. (sorry about it being blurry) As I walked in I saw skeletons laying on the floor of the cave, one even chained to a table. Coming in I saw the mad wizard, puting some sort of gem into a culdran of water. After a fierce battle, I was able to locate the potion to the chest hidden by rocks. After finding the ether I was on my way to give the ether to Masa.
  7. While Sir Berelan is away searching for the mystical Valkyrie Springs, his best friend Sir Avrel of Stormhold has offered to join Paulos MacLean in his quest for the Golden Spear in Berelan's place. Avrel has sent two of his best men to scout ahead for Paulos during his travels to Eastgate. They have come upon some orcs in the ruins of a Kaliphlin watchtower attacking a lone soldier of Kaliphlin. After killing one of the orcs and chasing the rest away, the Kaliphlinite tells the two soldiers that he was exiled from Eastgate for standing up to Petera and that the band of orcs had been hired by Petera to kill him. One of the Golden Crowns scans the horizon for any signs of danger while his companion tends to the Kaliphlin soldier's wounds.
  8. Sir Berelan Gryffen has journeyed into the northern reaches of Mitgardia in the search for the mystical Valkyrie Springs. Legend had it that among the springs there stood a small mountain, atop which was a single vial of pure water. It was believed that this water was enchanted and could heal any wound. It was essential for Berelan to retrieve this vial, for otherwise Dugal MacLean could not be resurrected. So he set off. At last, he arrived at Valkyrie Springs, and sure enough, beheld the vial of enchanted water, nestled in a carved rock at the summit of the small mountain. Wearing a thick fur hat because of the cold and carrying a pickaxe for climbing, Berelan got ready to begin his ascent. But lurking in the mountain caves were some of his deadliest enemies, members of the Order of the Dragon, a band of Nocturnian knights led by none other than his own brother, Xaris. The two knights had been sent by their lord to destroy the vial and prevent Berelan from retrieving it. Will they succeed, or will Berelan defeat them? Only time will tell.
  9. Infernum

    MAC: Bo'durr Tower

After the Hand's defeat at the Proudrock Fortress Sir Infernum decided to surprise Sir Glorfindel (bribary? ). He hired skilled workmen and Dwarves to begin work on one of the first towers built by Glorfindel's ancestors. It had been well kept for years until the Hand damaged it. By the time Infernum and his men arrived to help with the repairs the workmen had already patched the damaged sections with wood. Tada! This is probably my best (and biggest) build yet! The top. Middle Bottom of the tower. The warriors of Arcium arrive! Really like this section. Didn't notice the top of that mushroom in the bottom corner. The lift raises and lowers! Hurray for playablility! I think I invented the flower-snow patches technique. The man is sweeping snow on the top of the tower. The whole MOC. Love the river section so much. Last shot of the contractor guy, Infernum, and the warriors of Arcium. Well, I got it in on time! Love how this turned out! The tower is super big, probably about minifig scale. I think it's my best yet, and I had tons of fun building it. I really like the river and bridge, reminds me of one of SoT's builds. That's all folks! Oh, and my dream is to find olive cheese slopes in a P-a-B wall, love using them in MOCs as you can see here. . That's REALLY all folks.
  10. On the southwestern coast of Mitgardia, mostly untouched by war against the elementals and Victor sits Thorshaven, a sleepy harbor city that is seeing a steep rise in economic activity since its more or less one of the last intact ports in Mitgardia. The shore here is rocky but the climate benign due to a warm ocean current that is sweeping along Mitgardia's western shores. The first thing you see as you approach the city from the South is a house build on a cliff. Long ago it was build for the mayor, but later got sold to local fisher folks. Since then it's been lacking a little paint here and there:
  11. Ecclesiastes

    Nibelar

(A new part of a lay-out I'm working on) Nibelar, one of the villages of the Nibelung clan. Elon is entering Nibelar. He got an important message of his brother, who sought refuge in the town. "Elon, good to see you again. It has been too long" "Likewise Sibon, how are your men?" "All dead... They got them all." "How?" "One of them was a guest in the embassy, his skill was incredible. When we finally got him, it was too late. He already managed to open the gates to let more of his kind in. My men managed to get me to the secret tunnel, but they paid with their lives. Elon, you're not safe. Before he started his killing spree he said, all Chorians will die... To be continued... Village life.
  12. Ecclesiastes

    Proposal

Now the war is over Besdarc finally asked for the hand of Elon's daughter. So he took her to a romantic place on the tundra and asked her to marry him. (This vignette was actually only about trying to build a pine tree, but I thought it needed some minifigs ) Tree close-up
  13. This is by far my largest build yet. I have been working on it for a couple of months now and I'm really happy with how it turned out even though there are quite a few things i would do differently were I starting over. Sadly, my pictures stink. I really want to get pics I can be proud of before I deconstruct this thing so hopefully I'll get to update the pictures eventually. There are quite a few more pics of some of the details on my Flickr. As always C&C welcome! Khor found the queen of the snow elves surprisingly eager to throw her people's lot in with the dwarves'. In Mitgardia they had made a home they did not wish to leave behind but still in their art and songs it was clear the loss of their forsaken kingdom was keenly felt even by those whose time began long after its passing. He was invited to stay as the queen's guest for a few days while she sent word to friends in the west that might also be willing to take part. Of the five kingdoms approached, two sent a detachment back to offer their support and help plan the group's next step. Khor immediately instructed a messenger to make haste to Bâra-Kìr with instructions to prepare to welcome the elves in two days. This news was not well received but the king knew they would soon need allies and was determined not to let his people's stubborn predisposition jeopardize their best chance to stop the Drow threat. The following day was a flurry of activity as the dwarves prepared to welcome the unlikely guests into their ancient halls.
  14. Infernum

    Proudrock Fortress

Sir Infernum, the warriors of Arcium, and the warriors of Rascliff Castle trek to Proudrock Fortress, where they are besieged by the Hand. Sir Infernum, the lord of Rascliff Castle, and a ranger watch the battle from the tower, while warriors man the crossbows. The Hand charges the door. Charge! Love this pic! Bad interior shot. Really like the table thing with bows and quiver. Lower level. Block the door! Note the door. Figless. I like it better like this. Wall. Love the damaged parts. Tree-less? I really love how this turned out. I think it shows how much I've improved as a builder over the last few months. Hope you like it!
  15. This is a freebuild by me and my brother Erikur! "Red it riseth, after raging battle, the Sun up high in heaven's dome, the eye of the One-Eyed earl of gods, whose sheen shineth, the shield blazing, on Middangeard, home of men. The hosts of the Hand, most hateful evil, the lands in shade and shadow cloaked, freedom's unfriend with fingers groping. The Wyrm-clan wended war to wage against the gruesome ghoulish fiends. To corrupted castle the clan of bravest housecarls and haleths headed was, with stratagem clever the warriors stoutly came into the castle and clashed with its guards. For the burg they battled, their brands like flashes of lightning lashed, lives they ended. Arngrim the foe of fiends undead and Sigolf the Bane of Brími the dragon brothers in battle the blood avenged of Sigmund their father, of kings most famed. They thwarted the thegns, with thorns of steel, they killed the corrupted crusaders of terror, the necromancer of nameless horror and his vassals the vanguards of doom." Thus sang of their deeds in years untold the skalds in all Mitgardia, and their heroic legacy was never forgotten.
  16. Through great effort, the dwarves had learned that the Drow ambushes were being made possible by a crooked Kaliphlin merchant divulging trade routes and schedules but of far greater importance was what the Drow purposed to do with their dwarven prisoners. They were determined to set the dwarves to work tunneling through the ancient mountains and deep dwarven fortifications that had denied them access to the north for so long. There didn't seem to be anymore information to be gotten in Kaliphlin and they still knew far too little to wander blindly into Nocturnus so they turned back to the north. After a few days of traveling at a feverish pace back across the mountains, Khor found himself in the most unlikely of places; at the doorstep of the snow elves, doing something even more unlikely; asking for their help. He had nothing solid to show the Mitgardian authorities and aside form that, it was clear that the guild couldn't do anything that might risk open war so soon after such destruction as had been wrought by Victor. These elves of Mitgardia had been driven from their fair forests in the West by the Drow centuries ago. The Drow poured out from the earth, behind all of the elves' defenses, and razed their city to the ground. There were a few still living who remembered that night and their desperate flight to the north. Khor knew that they of all people would understand what was at stake and hoped he could gain their support. The elf guard on watch was cold and hostile; immediately drawing his bow and shouting at Khor not to take another step. Khor set his shield and flail in the snow and politely asked to speak with their queen. The guard made no move to oblige and still stood unblinking, ready to let his arrow fly for the slightest reason. Now Khor called out in a loud voice, "I seek urgent council with the queen!" Shortly, two more guards came outside to make sure it was safe and then beckoned to the queen. (I'll change this photo out for one with proper flags soon. I took on but it turned out really blurry. ) This is my first snowscape. I was getting impatient waiting on the large build I'm working on to wrap up and the new arches from the Council of Elrond set were just begging me to use them. C&C please!
  17. Infernum

    Rascliff Castle

We journeyed back to Rascliff Castle, a powerful and ancient Mitgardian safehaven. Here we will be able to regroup out of the reach of the Hand of Corruption. - Sir Infernum I love how this turned out, my biggest MOC yet! Lowest level. Crossbowing battlement! Manned by a warrior of Rascliff castle. Another battlement, with an Arcium Archer. I love the doors! Inspired by SK and SoT! There's a third battlement type thing. Rascliff Castle harbors hundreds of Mitgardians every day. This is a ranger who is staying at the castle. I love this window technique! Not sure who invented it. Tower segment. So you can see the floors. There's a full interior! It's also modular! Sir Infernum and his second in command talking to the lord of Rascliff Castle. This storage room is full of barrels of purified water, as well as drinking glasses, in case of siege. The blacksmith's room. Barrels of arrows, a chest of weapons, a table for an ornate blade, and a great sword mounted to the wall. I love the technique to attach the sword. Bunk bed! A... room... The great hall on the bottom floor. Who's that woman? To be revealed... Platform for archers. That's all! I love how this MOC turned out! I think it's my best MOC by a lot! Hope you like it!
  18. Ok, I've finally finished what is probably my first totally unprovoked freebuild for GoH: An ancient viking game, Hnefatal (pronounced Nefatal), or King's Table has been played in Mitgardia for centuries. On his visit, Lord DaMaximus played Uridius Dratiphe a few times in the guild room (The other two walls of the room have the other Guild flags, or at least they would if they existed ). The game is similar to chess, the Red wins if it surrounds the king (the bigger piece) on all four sides (you can not move diagonally), and the Black wins if the King can get to one of the white squares on the corners of the board. The Game set-up. Playing around ! C&C are welcome!
  19. Some of you might remember me winning Challenge 2 for Avalonia with my embassy. And some might even remember me promising to take adequate pictures of it. It took me quite a while - almost a year and a half - but I can finally present you my embassy in all its glory in decent pictures. You'll also find some behind the scenes pictures in here, as many of you asked me how I built for example the roof (all pictures link to flickr with higher resolution). The old thread can be found here. Some pictures of the details: 1. The front of the upper story. 2. The entrance and the ground floor. 3. The side of the roof and its bay. 4. A second view of the roof. The construction of the roof is fairly simple. The look with the cheese slopes is achieved by placing 2x4 plates (or any plate that is 2 wide) on another 2x4 plate with an offset of 1 stud. Then you use an abundance of 1x1 cheese slopes to cover these. After the whole surface is covered, we use this thing upside down and it will look like this: In order to achieve this angle I used quite an unusual technique: The roof itself just sits in there and is not connected to the house itself. It got me a very nice angle by using the 1x2x3 inverted slopes as a 'frame': A view from the back (yes, I only built half of it, you got me ): To make things not too easy, I also included the bay with the window in the roof. In this case, I achieved the angle by using hinges to which I connected the cheese slope surface. I left a hole in the big roof so that I could place the bay in it. Fairly easy I guess. I'm actually going to tear it down finally but I'm planning to build a 'version 2.0' for my city layout. There are some parts that I want to improve so lets see where I will end with that. If you have any suggestions, feel free! I hope I was able to give you some insight in how to create a cheese slope. The explanation is fairly simple so if you have any questions regarding this, feel free to contact me. Currently I'm working on a roof for a round tower built from cheese slopes and it is looking good - stay tuned! Finally: Yes, this building is almost one and a half years old but I would still like to get comments and more importantly critique. If you have anything to add, do not hesitate to do so! Regards!
  20. Infernum

    Hunted

I was captured at our encounter with the Hand of Corruption at the ruins of Mythros... Luckily for me my second-in-command was as sharp as ever. He rescued me from the Hand and gave me a sword. Together we ran towards the rest of our troops, followed by Hand Beserkers. Luckily around two thirds of our troops escaped. -Sir Infernum I think this is my best build yet! I think the path, vegetation, and landscaping all turned out well. Hope you like it!
  21. As many of you History fans are aware, I have been actively promoting the Guilds of Historica, Eurobrick's exciting subforum. Right now is a great time to join a guild as the main challenged have wrapped up and we are looking into opening a second chapter of the land. A large part of this little poll/survey is to find out why people haven’t already joined the fun to see if there are changes we could make in GoH to bring more people into the world. Feel free to both vote in the poll (with my somewhat facetious choices) and voice your opinion here. For those of you who are not aware, the Guilds of Historica is a MOCing (and role-playing) paradise where EB members can tell stories and build MOCs for their chosen guild. What are these guilds? There is Mitgardia in the arctic north, filled with many great building role-models. Mitgardia has strong Norse influences and of course, builds many a MOC in the snow. The Mitgardians are often signified as strong, proud, and solitary folk represented well by the great bear, their guild colors are yellow and green. For those of you who like Game of Thrones, think of Winterfel and the Starks or maybe a great Dwarven realm from Lord of the Rings. Then there is Kaliphlin in the diverse, but largely arid south. Those who like to build MOCs in the desert with Middle Eastern or ancient Egyptian influences will be right at home. Kaliphlins are nomads, storytellers and traders by nature, traveling between city states peddling their wares and a story or two. Kaliphlin is often represented by the Lion, their colors are dark blue and red. For those of you who like Game of Thrones, think about the free cities beyond the Narrow Sea, or other cities in Essos such as Qarth. Don't forget about Nocturnus, in the eastern darklands. Nocturnus is a land full of wonder and has a vast array of wonderful creatures. Orks, cyclopes, minotaurs, and creatures and monsters of every sort can be found in the darklands. Sometimes misconstrued as “evil”, the Nocturnians seem fairly xenophobic and usually take great pride in keeping the other guilds out of their lands. Sometimes represented by a serpent, the Guild’s colors are red and gold. For Lord of the Rings fanboys, think Mordor with even more strange creatures! And for those of you who like the more "classic" castle land, then the western paradise, Avalonia, is the guild for you. Separated into three distinct areas, the plains, great forest and mystic isles, Avalonia is a lush paradise filled with tudor castles and green fields. Some of the guilds, who are jealous of Avalonia's beauty and success, call the Avalonians "treehuggers", but the Avalonians are great warriors and architects. Avalonia’s colors are sand green and dark green, their sigil is the dragon. Lord of the Rings fans might see this land as very Rohan-esque, though you’ll also find some Rinvendell like Elvish settlements as well. Though currently not open for membership, the land posses a fifth guild, developed during the course of the project, Varlyrio. With a sea fairing culture and Mediterranean influences, Varlyrio is still largely unknown to the other guilds and the island nation may become very important in the developing story. Varlyrio has no official sigil (yet), but its colors and gold and white.

    Encounter

My lord Victor, We ambushed them in the ruins of the city of Mythros. They didn't expect any trouble on their return journey... well they were far from right. They found themselves ambushed, separated, and outnumbered. We had joined the elite guards of Cedrica, experienced, battle hardened veterans. Together with my elite troops and beserkers we were able to quickly overwhelm them. Don't expect trouble any time soon from the warriors of Arcium. Your Servant, Murthan Overview of the scene. I was going for an Amon-hen style scene, with ruins, lots of bad guys, and only a few heros. I love the ruins! A beserker leader and two normal beserkers run into the fray! The leader of the Cedricans, Rakthan Blade, duels sir Infernum. Another soldier of Arcium, outnumbered. Whole scene. Figless. The collectable minifigure Roman Commander makes a great Cedrican Warrior! Hope you liked it!

  25. Ok, so here is my challenge entry: "Let me pass, let me pass, I have an important letter for Uridius Dratiphe!" Looking up from his work, Uridius saw a middle aged messenger, apparently from Valholl, detained by a few of his retainers. "Let him come," he said. "Sir," said the messenger, "I have this letter from Elon Chorian. He ordered me to deliver it with all speed." Uridius eyed him questioningly. Having cut open the seal, he read: Elon Chorian, to Uridius Dratiphe, Royal Architect and soldier of Mitgardia, April 5th Today I have received news of the taking of Cedrica by Victor. The time has come. We must act quickly to prevent his marching on Valholl. Bring any number of soldiers you can and meet me at Cedrica's lake on the Adeler River. We must take on Victor in his den. Sincerely yours, Elon Chorian Scribbling a short reply, Uridius quickly finished his work. Only a few days later, his entire contingent, swelled by his brother and his retainers as well, marched to the banks of the Adeler, eager to assist in recapturing Cedrica and dethroning Victor. The fate of Historica was in the balance. The night was pitch dark as the army encamped in front of Cedrica, whose impregnable towers stared down at them mockingly. With it's gigantic walls, under which flowed the waters of the Adeler, it seemed as though the city could hold out for years. As the morning dawned, other Mitgardian armies came into view, among which Steen Larsson's and Glorfindel's stood out conspicuously. That evening, the army commanders joined to decide what the next step should be. Uridius' brother, although usually pessimistic, was a cunning planner, and suggested a strategy that might work. And so for days the army labored, always in the strictest secrecy, digging a vast trench, designed to change the river's course and, if all went well, enter into Cedrica under the very noses of the guards! Finally the time came. The night was moonless, the army stood ready as the last barrier was cut, and the river, long pent up in its course into Cedrica began to empty as it flowed into the lake the army had dug. Under cover of darkness they marched quietly under the walls, taking the hand by surprise, as they flowed into Cedrica. Quickly taking a portion of the men, Uridius Dratiphe and his brother marched in silence to Victor's banquet hall, where he was known to be holding a feast with his most trusted commanders. Crash! Crash! And yet again, Crash! The sound of breaking glass filled the room as Victor and his accomplices sprang up in alarm. Through the windows and doors Uridius' soldiers came pouring in, quickly overwhelming Victor's few guards. Kaïn, who had been present at the banquet, engaged Uridius by throwing all kinds of food at him, but the Mitgardians did not slow down! Victor, seeing that the day was against him, raised his staff to call more troops, or perhaps an elemental - no one really knows, because before he could do more, a dark cloaked figure slid up, plunging a dagger into his back. Whether the assassin was one of Victor's guests or not has not been discovered, however, availing himself of the momentary confusion, Kaïn slipped out, and escaped the city. Nonetheless, Cedrica has been taken, and the threat of the hand of corruption was gone! Historica was free! If possible (could ZC or someone help me on this point) I would like to edit this topic tommorrow to add more pics and possibly change the story a little bit. However, if it is not possible,it does not matter to much. Anyways, I loved building for this challenge! More pics at my photostream: http://www.flickr.co...tos/robert4168/ C&C are welcome as always.
