1. Challenge 2A Defend Yer Claims News Headline: New Islands from Challenge 1 Up for Grabs In the name of defense of new territory, the Far Horizon shipyard cranked out an armed cog in record time. She was christened as the "Incognito" by the Lady of Ill Repute from the House of Pleasure in Bastion. The ship features a flat bottom to allow her to stay close to shore for coastal defense or attack coastal fortifications up close and personal with her main guns. Being shallow bottomed she can sail or be pulled by horses up and down rivers. Ship Christening by dr_spock_888, on Flickr She is crewed by the most vile tax avoiding scums of the Brick Seas. The Incognito by dr_spock_888, on Flickr She is captained by the technical Captain Brickbeard who has a history of pirating shiny round plates. Picture 5044 by dr_spock_888, on Flickr "Don't mess with the monkey. This island is ours." was also found in the Sea Rats' notice to the press. 2. Hi guys, this feature is both a contribution to the ongoing tax debate, and a reply to a remark Garmadon made in the 'Introduction Thread' about my title The Army of Colonial Minions is back! And this time they have gone financial, turning into every Sea Rat's worst nightmare. These guys have come up with a diabolic device to collect tax payments: They literally suck the hard earned Doubloons right out of your pockets! As I said, that strange dude on the 'Amphitrite's Lily' should not have been encouraged! Well, during the recent ship constructions I got a little carried away... The piggy bank is the official set #40155, the rest is 'Nonesense by KB'TM pending I hope you enjoy this little feature, it's not a Freebuild, just meant to amuse you. Or scare the living hell out of you. So remember kids, paying tax is for the Greater Good... and your own. C&C welcome!
3. Ahoy again, yet another ship has entered Oleon's Merchant Navy. It's my fourth FB this month, so feel free to approve, should you like her I'd like to present to you 'Amphitrite's Lily'. 'Amphitrite's Lily' must be the oldest ship still afloat in the Sea of Storms. A small cog, surely no beauty, a true relic in terms of a ship's life expectancy. Having been around since the Juniper War, in which she was used as a supply ship, she served Oleon greatly and was mustered out years ago, waiting to be broken up. Now, however, the Nation calls her once more! Every vessel is needed in the race for expansion. She is put at the command of one of Oleon's greatest sea dogs, a man - no - a legend almost as old as the 'Lily' herself. And he rules the deck with an iron fist. No doubt there is: the two relics will prevail again! About this ship. Believe it or not, this old bucket is buildable. This technique kind of 'happened', and I think it works out alright depicting (very) old ships. The structure at its base is formed by hinge plates, and the sides are held together with flex tubes. All is attached to the ship's central axis at multiple points, it'd be decently stable. Oh, and I hope I got the sail right this time Thanks for watching, C&C welcome Vive le Roi!
4. Sweat saves Blood. Digging saves Blood. old military proverbs Lt. Wolf was satisfied. Together with Sgt. Hodson, he was checking the battle positions he ordered his men to dig. McKenzie´s and Henderson´s position was looking good. Henderson was just getting the last spades of Earth out and McKenzie, as the consumate sniper he was, was finishing the camouflage. Sgt. Hodson was checking the lines of fire. Lt.Wolf had applied camouflage to his face to show his men how it should be done. He made a mental note to order his men not to wear their tschakos when entrenched. Can a Moderator change the title to [COR-CH2A] please.
5. While waiting for the captain to return the crew of the Bleak Angel witness a small skirmish. Under orders from First Mate Jakes the crew take the opportunity to retrieve some of the lost valuables from the sea floor. Only a handful of the crew are skilled enough to both reach the depths the shipwreck lays at, and bring the hold of the sunken hold back to the surface. A couple more pictures showing off the overall build behind the spoiler button. As this is my third Freebuild this month, Approvals would be appreciated.
6. Previously Complications The drawback of having to escape from an Oleonder fortress is that, afterwards, you are still on Oleon soil... ...with the Navy's marines chasing after you through the streets as you try to find your contact... ...who may have noticed the commotion you have caused and is waiting in ambush… ...or may just be keeping herself from getting caught up in the mayhem… And this would be where the sunlight suddenly disappeared and the lighting suddenly became significantly less than great. Although one saving grace was that the blueish tint and heavy shadows did make the scene look a little more like night time, following on from the black backdrop in "Breaking Out". Sadly today I did not have access to my partner's photography set up, so all the pictures today were taken in my living room with our high megapixel phone cameras.
7. One aspect of life as a Sea Rat goes unmentioned by the advertising material: That not all plunder is of immediate value to the plunderer. For sure that coinage, jewels, food, ammunition, clothes and craft materials are all of use to a Sea Rat or their ship but other items are of limited use and limited market. Books only matter to those few Sea Rats who can read. A captain's cabin only has so much room for art, and any sensible collector of art will not put it in a cannonball's path. As for antiques, relics and native trinkets, well, those are just wasted space to many. But everything is of value to someone, if you know who and how. That is where Grayther Drave comes in. Drave's emporium serves as a clearing house for items of select market, where a freshly returned crew may unload those more unusual and esoteric items found on their journeys. The ground floor stocks and sells all sorts of small trinkets and oddities for the curious, superstitious or eccentric. But Drave's real success is his other market. For back on the mainland, and in the various colonies, there is a market for rare books, forbidden tomes and native treasures. Some dare visit his store in person. A letter of introduction from an existing client is necessary for a potential customer go gain access the goods kept in the old vaults below the emporium. The rumours that Drave deals in occult goods and supposedly cursed treasures is widespread. One tale claims the man's mask is to hide the consequences of one particularly potent hex. Another claims the mask hides scars from an accident involving alchemy. Rumours that Drave deals with information and has spies across the Sea of Storms persist. Drave employs a young woman named Yukio as a bodyguard and to provide additional security for the store. Thieves are not too common, however, as few want to risk stealing one of the supposedly cursed artifacts. Here, Drave sells a dangerousvaluable book to one of his regular customers, Jacqueline "Jack" Yharnam.

[OL - FB3] The 'Revenant'

Ahoy mateys, may I present my first ship in these waters, the Class 2F cutter 'Revenant'. This is also my third FB this month, so if you like it, please approve The 'Revenant' is a fine example of Oleon's new 'Piranha'-class cutter, introduced by the 'Royal Shipyards' of Breshaun. It's the first time an entire class of ships was not planned in the motherland, showing the growing importance of both the island of Le Bellan and Breshaun's 'Royal Shipyards' branch. Designed for speed and manouverability this new class of vessels is considered a great fit for the tricky waters around Le Bellan with their shallows and strong, ever changing currents. Being regarded excellent crafts these ships fulfill their purpose as merchantmen as well as minor military vessels for both convoy duty and costal patrol. The 'Revenant' is commanded by Guillaume Lejeune, a skilled and experienced sailor and now entrepreneur, constantly busy shuffling goods in between the various ports of the New and Old World. He proudly flies the flag of the Oleander Merchant Navy, showing his devotion to the King and Oleon's cause. About this ship: I'm not a big fan of fancy colors, plus most specialized parts don't come in a broad variety of them, so the ship might look a bit dull. But as always all could be built in real bricks, just sails and rigging are placeholders, and the yards would require rigging to be held in place. The construction would be stabil, maybe even swooshable. The name was chosen hoping the ship will return from all the MCRAs to come. C&C welcome. Vive le Roi!
9. Hi guys, CB4 kindly allowed me to moc up the MCRA result of his famed ship the 'Parakeet'. Somewhere in Bastion: "She did WHAT?" So, this guy walks into the bar. Pretty run down, shady character, aweful looking. And his smell! You could smell him from two miles away. Oh, this smell of rum and... like he's been living in a pig shed for the past 4 months or so. Almost knocked me out. Anyways, so this guy immediately starts drinking and after his third bottle of rum starts babbling. I mean, you've all heard of the 'Parakeet' and how she sprung a leak? So, this guy claims he knows exactly what happened that day and serves me this story: A mermaid with shades using a swordfish to saw a hole into the hull... I mean, come on! Seriously? But... the thing is... errh... the more I think about it... well, it is kind of a likely story, isn't it, lads? Lads?? I hope it's recognizable, well, it's my first time trying to 'tell' a story in a single picture, does the idea with the speech bubble work? Concerning the 'Parakeet', thanks to CB4's excellent pictures I managed to stay very true to his original, I just had to adapt a few minor details. What a lovely ship you made, CB4, and thanks again for allowing me to moc this. Well, here's some more details One last thing, in the topic title I didn't know whether to write 'Oleon' or 'Sea Rats'. Some mighty overlord may change the title if necessary. Thanks for watching

[OL - FB1] A Small Shipyard

Hi guys, I'd like to present my first freebuild here, for the glorious Empire of Oleon. It's a small shipyard in the vicinity of the city of Breshaun. Small shipbuilding facilities such as this one have sprung up in the dozens all over Le Bellan to meet the demand for ships these days. Although being simple stations without the grandeur and vivacity of the large 'Royal Shipyards', they are a vital part of Oleon's plans for expansion in the new world. In fact they are part of the 'Royal Shipyards' system and fulfill a dual purpose. Firstly they relieve the larger facilities from both construction and maintenance of smaller vessels, freeing the hands and minds of the master shipwrights there, enabling them to focus on the planning and execution of more capital ships. But in addition, these small stations are being led by dedicated junior shipwrights single-handedly as part of a teaching program. Those that excell in the duties thrusted upon them are awarded the status of master shipwright, thus increasing the shipbuilding potential of the nation even with sparse resources. Here's some more: Hope you guys like it, C&C welcome. Vive le Roi!
13. This is my fifth free build of the month, so approvals and critiques are most welcome. * * * It had been some time since Captain Cornelius Reyngout had spent any time back on the mainland, but he had been summoned to Terreli. After meeting with Guy Wyndzon, he had his orders. Reyngout departed the MCTC headquarters, out into the busy street, and headed for the docks. The MCTC had acquired a ship that had been decommissioned from the Eslandola navy. She was a beautiful ship, but of an earlier generation, and the time for her military service had come and gone. But she was of solid construction and had many years of service left in her, if she could find the right service. And the MCTC thought she was perfect for the merchant service. Now completely refurbished, the Heart of Eslandia would sail again. Cleared of the extra guns and large crew of a warship, she now sported a large cargo hold, 5 guns in each broadside (and could add two chasers to the bow if needed), and was one of the speediest ships around. Reyngout thought her name very appropriate, as trade was the lifeblood of Eslandola, and the ship still sported its blood-red sails from its fighting days. And the name Eslandia referenced the historic tone poem dedicated to the Eslandolan ideal. Capt. Reyngout’s orders were to take her to the Eslandolan colonies, display the pride of the MCTC merchant fleet, and drum up financial support from MCTC members so that she may be licensed and enter revenue service next month. Bow detail: Stern decoration retained from her fighting days: Some detail shots of the cleared decks:
14. Meet Olivier Thibaut. He is a farmer's boy, growing up in a remote, rural area of central Oleon. It's a quiet and beautiful place he calls his home, far away from all world's troubling affairs. But Olivier is 16 years of age, a young man, and although still a child at mind his dreams are big. He wants to be out there. He wants to see more of this world. However, Olivier is bound by his family's values and by regional traditions. 'Change' is not a favorite term of most. Yet ever since fantastic stories of new lands across the vast sea are spreading - along with rumors of all their promises, riches and adventures - all he can think of is travel - and new shores. What will the future hold for Olivier? Well, only time will tell. In fact... I will... but later Most of the freebuilds to follow will bare some connection to Olivier's story, be that by direct interaction, places visited or people met, although not from the beginning, since parts of his story are way older than the rules of BoBS, and now merging both 'worlds' will need a little time. Also, as you might guess, this is going to be an all digital approach to this venture. Rest assured however, that it is my personal challenge that everything could be build in real bricks unless stated otherwise. On that subject, in this build the tiny flag on the fort would not work, but could be replaced by a minifigure hand or whatnot. Oh, and here's a bird's view of that little scene. Thanks for watching, C&C welcome.
15. Update: The Wringe I has been taken by the Sea Rats. It got replaced by the Wringe II, which has been painted differently. The new Captian is Valerio D'Obarno. I am Jerome Monezterell and here is my first ship - The Wringe I. It is a fast cutter that has a bit of storage space, so she'll be registered as a class 2F. It is commanded by Jones DeRoy (the guy with the dark green Epaulettes) who is one of my most trustworthy men. It is not armed; I'll trust the escorting ships. I guess I'll just go on with pictures: Swapping load while on sea Sailing off I'm just trying through different types of hull techniques, if anyone has other suggestions besides the hull techniques by Captain Green Hair, Sebeus I and CB4 I would really appreciate those, as I don't feel like I want to go further with this technique as it seems a bit to flat to me. Edit 5th March 616: She has been captured by the Sea Rats. The crew is drifting around the ocean on a raft.
16. Lt.Wolf was able to pull some strings: The contract for transporting the Queen´s Rifles to the colonies was awarded to member of his family: Captain Burt Wolfson and his small cog Eliza. Captain Wolfson is talking with Lt.Wolf on the forecastle. Midships, Rifleman Henderson has problems with seasickness. Licensed as a 1T. This is my third freebuild this month,if you like it please approve!

18. This is my third freebuild this month, so if you like the ship don't hesitate to approve, thank you ! "La Raenette" Felipe de la Manzana, after his wreckage, had to join Terelli where he could bought a new ship. Once in the Capital port, he managed to hire some new crewmen and found an ancient Oleon designed fast cutter for sell. He bought her and after few repairs and new sails, the ship was ready ! She was renamed "La Raenette", in homage to her Oleander origins. Felipe set rapidly sails to Berelli to join his friend Basil and to know if his diplomatic efforts had been succeed. She is a fast cutter, rapid and easily manned, but she is not very well armed. Just an old 12pounder gun is light for self defense, but with an escort, it will not be a problem. Here are the official soldiers on board making some training : Here is a seagul view : So Felipe is back for new adventures (the continuing of the one he already began...) Hope you like it. The ship is licensed as my new free license ship. It is a 1 gun cutter, it is a Class 2 F vessel. I tryed a totally new approach for this build as I go for a brickbuilt hull and a more advanced rigging than for the appleseed. I know it's not perfect but I am quite happy how it turned out. Btw, I've re-made the rigging of the poor appleseed when I built her sunk. You can see her new aspect on my flickr. Comment and criticism are welcome. Thank you !
19. Freebuild #2 Feb. 2016 Previously, Susieh and her crew were monkeying around with an escape plan. They bribed a monkey with a banana in exchange for the cell key. After opening the cell lock with key, they sneaked out and headed towards the Mardierian Harbour to find their ship, the White Skull. At the harbour or rather under the harbour, we found our Sea Rats using a tried and true technique for ship theft. They quietly climbed up the anchor chain. Once on deck, Susieh overpowered the unlucky guard. Her crew quickly gained control of the White Skull. Susieh felt good to have her ship back as they sailed away from Mardierian territory. She wanted to give Mardier the finger but LEGO hands didn't seem to have fingers for pirates to make rude gestures. She sighed and gave a goodbye wave.
20. This is my fourth free build of the month, so approvals and critiques are most welcome. * * * Even though Weelond is still too small of a town to gain any immediate benefit from properties in the hinterlands of An Holli, Weelond’s new mayor knew that that time would come. Additionally, Willem Guilder was a company man for the MCTC through and through. So, to take advantage of the MCTC’s cotton monopoly, Guilder bought some prime land not far from town and set up a medium-sized cotton plantation. The growing season is apparently surprisingly short, as his workers are already busy picking cotton! Once the crop comes in, he plans on expanding the plantation even more. * * * I am ineligible for the rebates offered for building and licensing properties in Weelond this month, so the rebates are still available. The next two properties licensed in Weelond in February by MCTC members who have not previously built in Weelond will get 2db back (from me). Additionally, at the end of the month, I'll award an extra 3db to the best non-residential property licensed in Weelond. The citizens of Weelond are particularly in need of artisan’s shops!
21. The Kingdom of Ténotclaxca Nickname : The Kingdom of King Azuma Colours: Red and Yellow Quick explanations : This is the official page of the Ténotclaxcan tribe, the main tribe of the island of Berelli. It is a story purpose topic, approved by SkaForHire. Please don't use it to BUMP old builds from more than a month ago. It's not a settlement, nor a new faction ! So no membership will be allowed. Everyone who is building in the realm ruled by king Azuma of Ténotclaxca is invited to post a link of their build in this topic, in order to follow what is built in the natives villages. This topic is made in order to develop the story around the tribe of the Ténotclaxcans, the tribe that, according to them, rules the island of Berelli, recently discovered both by Corrington and Eslandola. All the informations you will see here are from MAESTRO Eslandolan trade company and Corrington scientists observations. Quick glance : The main tribe of Berelli is named the Ténotclaxcans, this name come from the name the natives gave to the island of Berelli : Ténotclaxca. They are open minded natives with proud traditions. That's not preventing them to be great traders too. Their main activities are oriented towards agricultural development, with great bananas plantations and towards fishing. They are naturaly pacifists but their warriors are well trained jungle scouts and are very dangerous in jungles and mangroves. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1. Leadership King Azuma : The young new king of the Ténotclaxcans. He add access to the throne a bit to soon, at the trgic death of his father by the hand of Oleon soldiers during the first encounter the tribe had with them. He is thinking he rules the entire island, but, although he has the religious support, some Ténotclaxcans, grouped in the south of the island are not recognizing him as the king. And the far north east of the island is so dense in vegetation that the Ténotclaxcans are going very rarely in this area, except some shamans for ritual purposes. It is said by the Ténotclaxcans themselves that the jungle is special in this area, the forest could have some conscience, and could plan very intelligent traps to kill who ever would try to threatened it... Zumo de Kapayas : She is the high priestess of the tribe, rank easily seen thanks to her ritual double parrot hat, one of the specialty of the Ténotclaxcans is their magnifiscent hats. Every member of the tribe has strange headgears to show their rank or their job in the society. She is the protective aspect of the religion of the tribe. She is leading the tribe spiritually when the king is leading the tribe on the island. She gave her support to the new king and have organised the main diplomatic encounters with the "men of the west", the new arrived colonial forces of both Eslandola and Corrington. The Oleon forces are not welcome since their first encounter with the Ténotclaxcans ended in a battle where Oleon men where thrown at sea and where the tribe lost his previous king. Pinya : She is Zumo de Kapayas' daughter. She is the most enthousiast friend of the MAESTRO men in Berelli. She is ready to help them develop the land for the new welcome settlers and she is ready to share her views of the Ténotclaxcan religion. She is promised to a shaman career and will succeed to her mother in this job. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2. Landscape : Here is the map of Berelli showing only the Ténotclaxcans positions : The Island is mainly covered with jungle and mangroves. The realm of King Azuma is mainly centered aroud the 4 main rivers of the island. The far north east is made of very dense forest and mangrove, it is very dangerous to go there without been well prepared. The south is normally good agrarian land, but since the tensions between King partisans and King protesters, the land is no more ruled with wisdom and care. This situation made the welcome of the Corlander explorers a bit cooler than the one Eslandians settlers received. A view of the jungle of Berelli, by SkaForHire A meeting in the Berelli jungle, by Elostirion One of the Kings' grave near Portal Cove, by Faladrin Ténotclaxcans in a ritual to the Mother Sea in Portal Cove, by Faladrin _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 3. The Army : Ténotclaxcans have not regular army in the same way of the main western coutries. Here, every citizen, male or female, is able to handle axes, spears or dart blowers. In case of an attack, all the tribe is at war lead by the king himself ! A boarding team used in small rapid raids, by Faladrin The "navy" force of the tribe is quite limited. They have few pirogues, dangerous for river attacks, or mangrove ambushes, but a part from little catamarans, used for fishing, the ships available for the Ténotclaxcans are not much. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 4. History and Culture : The Ténotclaxcans worship a main god of the creation, also nicknamed the Monkey God, due to his monkey appearance. They have an animist vision of the nature mixed to that religion, and every spirit of natural manifestations are subject for rituals and offers. The power of the society is held by both the King and the High priestess. The Ténotclaxcans are pacifists; so the main decisions are mostly centered around what to plant and where to go fishing... But since the arrivals of men from the west, the society is changing. It has been said that the strangers were here to accomplish an old prophecy, it has also been said that they were nothing, just good enough to be thrown to the fish. The Ténotclaxcans are divided and some tensions between King partisans, thinking that the "men of the west" are the prophetic men they were waiting for, and King haters, thinking those men are dangerous and should be sent to their boat are becoming threatening the peaceful tribe. It appears some villages have local traditions that others Ténotclaxcans are not following. There is more a diverse mix of local traditions all linked by the religeous power that always find a way to justify why some are doing like this and others like that. Many old traditions are more old techniques passed generation to another. For example, some fishing techniques are unique to some villages. 22. Looking out his window, Lord Maximilian Damaximus saw the "Margot" in front of the bay of Stedor. Fully equiped with 55 guns. Although they still are working on the rigging, he couldn't wait until she was seaworthy. He sighed, last month trade run was terrible. The "Knight of Stedor" had to return to it's first port, the "Appleseed" sunk and the "Sulky Harlequin" made only 98 db's profit (divided by 10 shareholders, that was almost nothing). If he ever wanted to get a licence for "Margot", it would take ages at the current revenues. Although the "Sulky Harlequin" made a terrible run, the way CSC licenced her was an example of innovation. And Maximilian was sure the odds will change the upcomming trade run! Time to do some business with the Corringtonlalanders. At the Stedorian Quays, the "Purple Rain" was packing some tradegoods. A decent fast and well-armed ship, ready to rock'n roll! -------------------------------- Captain Matt Lenoir was looking over the stern to Stedor. His new ship the "Purple Rain" just set sail to Terelli. He loved Stedor, the white harbor, the vibrant atmosphere, the dangerously looking fortress and especially the Governal Palace on the mountain, watching over the Bay. He looked to the Licence in his hands and smiled. Finally he had a decent ship under his command! Lord Maximilian Damaximus gave him even 2 Elite Guards to protect the ship. And as it is a joint-venture with some Corrington investors, two Corrington soldiers are on board as well. Even an important Corrington scientist has aboarded to join the journey! => the Corrington Scientist => Some of the cargo (there are some of the finest Felipe de la Manzana's apples in the cargo as well, but they can't be seen in this picture) => Captian Matt Lenoir ---------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for watching!!! the "Purple rain" is a 8-gun Xebec, which will be licenced as a Class 4 T2. C&C ofcourse welcome!! Here is the list of shareholders: The terms of the shareholders (Thanks to Bregir!) Can the shareholders please confirm they transferred the 45 db's to my account? (transaction form)
23. Dramatis Personae: Holy crap! How much further do we have to walk in this jungle?! My mosquito bites have mosquito bites! Bear with it for just a little while longer, Lucy. It appears that this path is leading to something more significant. OH! There it is! Given the feminine nature of this statue, it would appear that the Choochoochootuklukchoo people worshipped this goddess to bolster the fertility of the civilization. I'll say! I'm feeling my fertility being quite bolstered by standing in front of her! PHYSIOLOGY!!! Hold it! Wait! Aren't we supposed be locked up in a Mardier prison, according to the latest issue of the Kings Port Advertiser? Yes, yes, that. Well, Challenge 1 is due before the Freebuild to explain what happened in the MCRA Result from last month, so we are doing this scene first. TIME TRAVEL!!! Oh shut up, Alois! Wait...wha-what is Peacock doing to the statue?! FORNICATION!!! That...that's indecent! We...we can't show that here! Stop him, Professor, stop him! He's desecrating an ancient ruin! You stop him, Lucy. I'm not getting in the way of that. Comments and criticisms are all welcome!
24. First part of the story ... Captain Ben D'Anvers was relieved when he saw a little settlement. They survived the unknown jungle they had to go through. But once arrived in the hamlet, he saw he took too few soldiers with him. He never imagined he would run into such a big community. Those vikings must breed kids like rabbits!! Somewhere in the middle of the hamlet, the longest (erm...) longhouse stood next to a campfire. It was very nice detailed with even golden accents. Based on the quality of their weaponry and those gold touches, there should be some mines around the hamlet... Very interesting... Luckily for Ben, the Vikings were very friendly and even really gratefull they saw for the first time in ages some people from a world that became a fantasy for them. A man with red horns on his helmet came outside the longhouse and started talking blablabla as Ben didn't understand a word. With hands and feet and a small chicken, they managed to greet eachother. After a few hours of making strange moves and sounds, Captain Ben understood he wouldn't come anyfurther. Time to go back home and return with a translator from Corrington! To be continued? Depends on your votes hahaha :D C&C welcome!
