  1. Hi folks, I'm happy to present my 42141 alternate build, which seems to be the first alternate model of McLaren Formula 1 released so far. Instructions can be found as usual on rebrickable. This Crash Team Racer Fun-Kart is an alternate build of set 42141 McLaren Formula 1 from 2022. No other parts are required to build this model. The model uses 3 spare parts that are included in the set 42141, with a total parts count of 1257. Keep in mind that the set 42141 McLaren Formula 1 comes in different versions with different sticker sheets that do not affect the build of this alternate model. If you own any of the set 42141 McLaren Formula 1, you can completely build this Crash Team Racer alternate model without any restriction. What is a Crash Team Racer? This Kart is driven by the character Crash Bandicoot in the 1999 video game Crash Team Racing and Crash Nitro Kart as competitor to the very popular Mario-Kart games. In 2019, the game Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled was released as remastered version for next-gen consoles, where this Kart appears again in better quality. You'll find renderings from the video game at the end of this article.   3. This model is a result of the lessons I learned while building a mini racer and failing. You can find more details about that here: To create a better mini racer, I increased the scale from 1:16 to 1:12 which allowed me to implement the following functions and features: Independent left/right side All Wheel drive Independent suspension on all wheels Dual 2-speed gearbox Steeering angle of around 30 degrees Working steering wheel Full interior with 2 seats Opening doors and bonnet Built out of 999 pieces Measures 35 x 16 x 10 cm Weight of 1 kg For color, I had the choice between orange and lime, so I went with lime for that Lamborghini look with gold rims: And here's the LDD version in all of it's 999 parts: Here are more photos of the individual groups, starting with main driveline: Gearbox switching system actuated by a PU L motor: Steering and rear hub support system: And finally the suspension system which also provides support for the bevel gears: The driveline is the most important part of the model and it uses two 2-speed gearboxes, each driven by both outputs of the BuWizz motors. A PU M motor switches the gears using the wave selectors. Suspension is supported by 8 hard shock absorbers. The suspension is at quite a high angle of around 25 degrees in order to keep the drive motors, steering motor and BuWizz as low as possible. High suspension angle also pulls the wheels together, allowing for a narrower bodywork. A PU L motor provides some 30 degrees of steering angle to the front wheels and also steers the steering wheel via a secondary steering rack. Everything is powered and controlled by a BuWizz 3.0 hidden in the front. It for sure fixed and improved mostm if not all the issues with the previous, smaller version. I also can't wait to compete with when the next opportunity shows up.
  4. REVIEW - 42095 - REMOTE-CONTROLLED STUNT RACER INTRODUCTION This set feels like the successor to the 42065 - RC Tracked Racer from 2017. Like the 42050 - Drag Racer from 2015, this set also has two wheels at the rear of the vehicle, limiting the vertical movement. Something tells me that, unlike the drag racer, this model can actually do wheelies. And how about those new big sprockets driving the vehicle?! I can hardly imagine these sprockets have been designed specifically for this model. Thoughts about a new big excavator fill my mind. But let's focus on this set first. Since these are new parts, it's safe to assume that the future (2H 2019?) will bring us a big (motorized) set, like a new bulldozer or excavator. POWER FUNCTIONS ELEMENTS This set contains a set of very useful PF elements. You get a battery box, IR transmitter, IR receiver and two large motors. Basically everything to motorize your MOC. BATTERY BOX Something which caught my eye is the new design of the battery box. Going through my collection, I notice this change has been implemented earlier. I remember discussing a slightly different version in the Arcos, so it might have been a couple of years. But most of the time I use one of my other battery boxes with batteries in it. This new design is much better, since you can get all the batteries out easily. COMPLETED MODEL I wasn't too sure about this model, but looking at the completed model, it is definitely growing on my. The yellow-blue color scheme is very vibrant and works really well. Especially with the XL sprockets. And it is no secret I love dark azure. I'm so glad TLG got rid of all the other shades of blue :laugh: Here you can clearly see how big the rear sprockets are. Just when you start loving this little bugger, you are presented with its rear end. Ouch, that hurts. This set is all about fun and performance, but a slightly more decorated rear end would have been better. Not sure if Milan designed this one, but he (or TLG) did a better job with the previous one. I don't think it will bother kids at all, but if I have to name a negative thing about this set, it's the rear end. Two 16T gears, an XL sprocket and an L-motor make up the drivetrain for each side. Minifig paint rollers as mirror pieces and a fishing rod as antenna. Cleverly done. Before I end this review, I do need to address the RRP (Recommended Retail Price) of € 79,99. This set does contain lots of PF elements, but 80 euros seems kinda steep for a model this size, basically being nothing more than a small RC toy. If you can get it with a discount, it is a great PF package though. The left-over parts. READY, SET, GO This review would not be complete without a video. Here you can see the Stunt Racer in action. I have mentioned it before, and I will mention it again; I hope TLG will create treads made up of a softer (more rubber like) material. As you can see, the set is rather useless when you are playing on a smooth surface. Some time ago I bought a couple of these bags in LEGOLAND Germany. It would be great if TLG would include a bunch of these rubber pins with tracked sets. Especially the remote-controlled ones. As you can see the result is much better. It actually does the wheelies which it is supposed to be doing. B-MODEL If it weren't for the price, I would definitely get a second copy to build the B-model and have some fun with both. The B-model looks even more finished than the A-model, but the main model can do wheelies! SUMMARY This is a very fun little model that will keep the kids entertained for a while. Two things that I don't like about this model. One is the rear, with clearly visible cables. And another thing is that the treads don't have any grip on smooth flat surfaces. Maybe a third thing and that is the price. Seems a bit steep for a small RC toy. But these cons definitely don't mean I don't like it, because I simply love this cute little stunt racer! PROS It's great fun It does wheelies It drives really fast Looks nice (except the rear) It's great fun Vibrant color scheme New big sprockets Did I mention it's great fun?! CONS Cables sticking out Treads don't have much grip on smooth surfaces Price SCORE How do I rate this set? 7 DESIGN I love the front and color scheme, but the rear could have been better. 7 BUILDING EXPERIENCE Fun build, given the part count. 7 FEATURES Not so many features, but stunt driving is implemented very well. 8 PLAYABILITY So much fun! 8 PARTS All the PF parts you need to motorize small to medium MOCs. 6 VALUE FOR MONEY The price is pretty steep for what is basically an RC toy. 7,2 WAIT FOR A BOGO DEAL AND GET TWO COPIES FINAL WORDS Thanks you for reading this review.   7. After the creation of my Compact Pneumatic Excavator, I decided to make something small, then am going to make something huge (no hints). The small project was easy, and quite a fun vehicle too, the Stadium Runner! My Latest creation: Pullback motor. A fun to drive, easy build pullback.   8. Some of you may remember my Azure Racer from a few years ago. It was a small simple buggy that was meant to be a leisurely build after my BrickFair VA projects of that summer. It had only one L motor for drive, but had decent speed. This model will be a sequel to that - it'll be larger (with Unimog tires), dark azure instead of medium azure, and powered by BuWizz and driven by 2 RC motors. In fact, this will be my first MOC to use BuWizz and RC motors - something I wanted to get for years and finally obtained two of them. The front axle will be a double wishbone independent suspension using shocks from the 9398 set. I haven't used them in years, and it's nice to bring them back again. The rear suspension will also be independent, but it'll be the RC motors themselves that are part of the suspension. Each motor will be connected to one wheel that'll be mounted on its own pivot point and shock absorber, essentially creating an independent suspension. I'm really looking forward to building this model. With the BuWizz on ludicrous or fast powering 2 RC motors driving a relatively lightweight model, I anticipate getting A LOT of speed out of this thing. Photo:

  10. Hello Speed Champions fans, Trabant 601 is a legendary car of Eastern and Central Europe. This is its studless model in Speed Champions scale. If you like it, please keep alive this project and support on Lego Ideas to become a real set (only 3 supporters are missing in the next hours to reach the first milestone): https://ideas.lego.com/projects/77b0428c-c46c-47b0-984c-1fd7c97a2948 I wanted to create a relatively accurate model, and some details were challenging in this small size. Firstly I needed smaller wheels than my other builds in this scale, the size of the actual ones are equal to the Mini Cooper (Lego 75894) ones. It was clear too that the City mudgards will not fit to this size, therefore I created a brickbuilt one. The connection of the wheels are tricky a bit which helps to keep the room between the wheels and the mudguard proportional. I wanted to create an accurate front, and I added simple white stickers to the direction indicator lamps to keep the orange parts visible on the front only. The most common colors of this car are the light blue and white (broken white). I decided to use white pieces as the roof element of Mini Cooper (part 6018101) is ideal as hood and roof, and I have this item only in this color. The rear of the car is a bit tricky too as I wanted tilted lights similarly to the real ones. The back lights could be red transparent elements, but I was not able to buy them in that color. I had to buy some elements of "brick, modified, 6191" to the sides too, and it was available only with "Nitro" stickers, but my son said that these stickers are cool, so I kept them. I wanted to use as less stickers as possible as I don't really like them, because they restrain the applicability the stickered elements in different builds. There is picture without the "Nitro" sticker and an other one without any stickers. The set includes a minifigure with a baseball hat and with an additinal red helmet.   11. Hello Speed Champions fans, my son asked me to build a white Audi R8. Both of us like the Speed Champions sets, therefore I choosen this scale. If you like it, you can support it on Lego Ideas: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/ead4242e-8bae-440d-930d-0c840d86ce5f It is a studless build from standard lego elements and modified City wheels are used instead of Speed Champions ones to keep the height to length ratio more realistic similarly to my earlier ideas. The front of this car is iconic and it was a real challenge to recreate it in this small size. I made lots of versions and I think the actual one with a tricky solution is the best. I tried more solutions to the black side blades too, the actual one was inspired by "LEGO Audi R8 instructions (MOC #96)" by "Jerry Builds Bricks" on Youtube, however I modifed it a bit as I wanted tilted blades similarly to the real ones. Only one sticker is used which is the Audi logo on the front as I'm generally not a fan of the parts with stickers, because of the lack of flexibility in using them with other builds. The set includes the minifigure shown on the main picture on the Lego Ideas. It comes form the set 75873 but with red helmet. I have added a rear wing to make the car more dynamic. It differs from the custom Audi wings, but I think it fits to the style of the car and to the side mirrors. The overall size is similar to the Speed Champions sets, but the wheels are from City sets as I wanted to keep the height to length ratio closer to the real sports cars.   15. The Race is coming. Racer42 is a three wheeled machine with high power. The pilot and the navigator are primed to drive. Are they willing participants or another vehicle dragged into the Race? -- The Race is a concept I am working on that pulls from a number of sources but is firmly SF. This car is setting the tone, creating the flavour for my own theme. That's what the Logo is for too. You can pick out some more details here. I have been playing about the asymmetry and using printed/stickered parts to complement a build. The colour scheme is a favourite of mine, LEGO Yellow is a pure classic.

Hi there, Just made this simple alternate from the 42102 Mini Claas Xerion: It features a working steering wheel (using a direction with links, unlike the A model), and a working engine with a rear transmission. The LA holder is used as a cylinder and the piston uses the same technique as introduced in the 9393-B model. Building instructions are available on Rebrickable.

  19. The six wheeled Tyrrell P34 was the first F1 model I built back in 2006, using a mix of Technic and System LEGO parts. Since then, I have made several F1 cars covering about three decades, from late 60s to early 90s, all in 1:8 scale. Due to the small front wheels of the P34, the compact front suspension of the first model was working, but was not as accurate as I would have liked. That’s why last year I decided to evaluate the possibility of building a detailed and fully working front suspension for this iconic car, taking advantage of all newest parts introduced by LEGO, as well as old and discontinued ones to reproduce this state of the art model in a bigger scale. In fact, the 22969 rims and 32296 big tires that I’ve always used as rear wheels in all previous models, in this case are acting as the “small” front wheels, in a fully independent double front suspension. There is a single central anti-roll bar that reacts to the displacement of the two front axles. At the same time, the steering rack is directly acting on the front axis, while the movement is then transferred to the second axis through a pivot and levers. As a result, the overall model scale went up to 1:5, and this lead to a completely brick built rear wheel concept, with an internal rigid frame to keep the cylindrical shape and support the model weight without distortion, and an outer layer of rubber elements. In such a large model, I decided to also include some RC features: XL-motor for driving, servo-motor for shifting, M-motor for steering. All of them are controlled with a powerful BuWizz unit. The compact 4 speed gearbox is a reinforced mod of Paul J Boratko III’s solution with the new rotary selector, while the shift drum is based on the concept MK II of P-LEGO, adapted to stay within the side prismatic fuel reservoir. Obviously, inside the cockpit, the steering wheel rotates while steering, and the shift lever moves as well while shifting. Other features are the various brake cooling systems (through NACA intakes and hoses for the front axis, and dedicated ducts for intermediate and rear wheels), a 90 degree V8 fake engine with 0.5 stud pitch between banks, air intake cones, two side water cooling radiators, three oil cooling radiators (two paired with water ones, one on the rear wing support), rear suspension with big 11.5L shock absorbers and stabilizing bar, side windows in the cockpit, and more.   21. Hello, feel the speed! It is my own hypercar concept inspired by real hyper and supercars. It is a 6 studs wide, studless model built from standard LEGO elements. The overall size is similar to the Speed Champions sets, but the wheels are from City sets as I wanted to keep the height to length ratio closer to the real sports cars. After thinking for some time decided not to enter the Nova car into the competition as it wasn't exactly fitting into the scale of the Car Transporter even though it fit fit within dimension box. Also wanted to make something unique in functionality. the former WIP car will be fitted with RC and finished afterwards. Here's a working prototype of a driven front axle with split drivetrains to maximize engine bay space and ground clearance (whopping 2 studs!!!!). Please note that the chassis structure is temporary! Instead of flexible hose in the suspension I would prefer using springs, but that is "illegal" according to rules of no modification of parts. Cya.
  24. It was a rainy and gray day today in Belgium. One of those days when my son and i sit beside the fire, wondering what we can build. Today, my boy (10yo) asked me for a new race car to complete his collection. That's what we did This car is inspired by a serial of famous car, not only real one, but also famous Mocs of famous builders. There is no pretension in this model. Just the desire to make an automobile that fits with the envy, the imagination of my son We started construction at 8 am and finished it around 4 pm. and here it is: As you can see, there are not technically ultimate functionalities, but here is what need to be spotted on this car features: - Fake engine V8, custom made, compact and reliable. High RPM and a typic sound when Rolling the car. This sound is the reason of our choice. - Direction with HOG - opening doors (butterfly doors) - adjustable rear spoiler. All these functions are pure manual and this car gives my son pure fun experience. I know this is not the more awsome Moc of the year. It is also not a Moc i worked on for month as some other of my créations. But this one spotted so well his objective that i thought it had to be presented here. Other pictures: front and rear view.   25. [WIP] 40+ km/h lego car Since i like to see some ideas and open discussions, i decided to make this project public. So lets start with the current progress: A few pictures of the first tries, with the following specs: - 4 motors, gearing 24:8 from low-speed-otput - 1 PF-battery-box, attached to an old 9V switch, controlling 1 of the 4 buggy motors. Switch is controlled by a micromotor powered with the auxilary output of the rc unit. - 3 motors powered with the RC unit - total weight (without speed computer, to stay below the magic number :D) -> 991g (1012g with the computer) 4th motor is used as a booster, activated with the auxiliary padels, once the car reached like 15 km/h Fresh video, done 1 hour ago ;) (38,7 km/h) ->
