  1. What color parts do you have a lot of? You could try Conrail blue or Norfolk Southern black.
  2. Neat competition. I think crashes may work better without the airbags.
  3. Cool. It might be helpful for video analysis to color the points with a black Sharpie or zoom in for a close up of the switch before each train run.
  4. Welcome to Eurobricks, Berthil. Cool wavy GBC.
  5. Excellent lovely build. Looks great with the waving colours to grab the viewer's attention.
  6. Well done, LT. I like the transclear panels to see the insides like a flagship Apple Store. I think a Raymond Reach forklift would be appropriate for the tight spaces between warehouse racks.
  7. Welcome to Eurobricks, Calvin. Nice photos.
  8. I believe the new system uses lower voltage devices either 5V or 3.3V like for microcontrollers. 5V good enough for low voltage servo motors but they may have trouble with our heavy big boy trains. Using a lower voltage can simplify connecting devices that already designed for 5V volts. You can avoid extra motor driver circuits and stuff. Plus use 4 AA or AAA batteries instead of 6. The different electrical connector is necessary so people don't connect 9V to a 3.3V device. That could destroy the device if there isn't any voltage protection or regulation built-in.

  10. Looks pretty real to me. How does it feel compared to a piece with same ID number you have from a trusted source? Any weight difference? Do they both snap in half with the same amount of force applied? If fakes are a concern to you, you probably should buy your LEGO directly from LEGO. That way you know with more certainty, it is real LEGO.
  11. Cats are smart. They chew on the low voltage side. I saw that with customers looking to replace their laptop power supplies after their cat chewed up the wire. It is also the expensive side since the whole unit has to be replaced instead of a simple AC power cord. I have to keep lids secured on my tubs of LEGO. Otherwise, they get used as a kitty litter box. It was oodles of fun washing the crap out of LEGO. Bits can get stuck inside the pieces. One should be cautious when buying used LEGO, don't forget to sniff it first. You could try taping cardboard or making clear arcylic protector over the ends of your helicopter blades.
  12. You could solder in a diode to the PF power cable from the GBC so that no current flows if the 9V controller is reversed. That will protect the GBC even if someone attaches a different 9V controller to it. Useful if you take your GBC modules to shows.
  13. I'm running a L-motor in one of my engines. It uses the standard AAA battery box with rechargeables and the V1 IR receiver. It is geared up for more speed but can still pull quite a few cars around standard R40 curves. Do you have video of your locomotive running and pictures of how it is set up? Might help to see and hear what's going on.
  14. I would agree using a PF train motor with the NXT above it as weight for traction can yield better performance. To keep gears from popping off some of my train's drive train, I have used half bushes.
  15. The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies.
  16. I see training = teaching = educating. You're basically building a religious school? Depending on your faction you may also have benefits licensing one type over another.
  17. Welcome aboard, Mark. Trains and GBCs are addictive. Can't build just one. We have a LUG in Toronto.
  18. For home trains, I reused a LEGO box that sets were shipped in. Roll in/roll out... For LUG events, I use banker boxes and plastic tubs to store and transport those trains.
  19. Clever. Why not turn it into a GBC module that passes balls from letter to letter?
  20. You can find icons for creating the train signatures here: http://www.fa-meier.de/lego/traindepot/index.html You can use any graphics editing program like GIMP to piece them together into a single picture file to use as your signature.
  21. Good stuff for those who build with pink.
  22. a. Politics and political symbols, campaigns, or movements b. Religious references including symbols, buildings, or people c. Sex, nudity, drugs, or smoking d. Alcohol in any present day situation e. Swearing or profanity f. Death, killing, blood, terrorism, horror, or torture g. First-person shooter video games h. Warfare or war vehicles in any modern or present-day situation, or national war memorials i. Large or human-scale weapons or weapon replicas of any kind, including swords, knives, guns, sci-fi or fantasy blasters, etc. j. Racism, bullying, or cruelty to real life animals Does that Idea project fit any of the above?
  23. Nice. I think you could probably stick with 6 wide in keeping with your other rolling stock. The car wheels looks like they could hang a bit over the edge like army tanks when transported on flat cars. You can also use 1x8 tiles as temporary cross beams to support the car wheels.
