  1. Challenge V: Princes of Garvey - Results! It is the end of an era – one which began with the discovery of a few islands and rapidly transformed many of the old regimes into colonizing powers. It has seen the birth of new rivalries and the rekindling of old, and the world of the Brick Seas has forever been changed… As the waves of the new seas grow more contested every day, the smaller nations look on greedily to get a piece of the pie. The valiant (or belligerent) Duke of Prio - depending on who you ask - has become a figurehead for a new movement, a movement of resistance. Now the King of Garvey, Leopaldis IV has begun to stir the pot. He has entered into the Mardier Civil War by declaring a state of war, snatching Mardierian ships, and signing a treaty with Eslandola against that unruly power. Openly taking the side of the Duke of Prio and Eslandola in that conflict, he has now begun to strike at Mardier’s settlements in the Far Islands. A declaration of war from the Mardierians was quick to follow. With Carno between the two nations on the mainland, however, this war, for the most part, will be fought in the far of Prio Seas. There is an old adage in Garvey, “He who rules the waves for his king, the same shall be made prince of the people” - and now the word has come to the far islands that Leopaldis will grant a new Prince title to the person, of whatever nation, who brings him the greatest victories in the Far Seas. Eslandola, too, has declared that it will grant special trading benefits to whoever will own its fight against Mardier, and a particular bonus to the one privateer who surpasses all the rest. But the Mardierians will not be deterred. King Alphonse XIII has finally taken the throne, and has the villainous rebels (more politely known as the “United Provinces’ forces”) on the run. It looks like without further intervention from the other countries, the Mardier Civil War may come to a quick close with Mardier on top. After that, only Terraversa lies between the King and absolute rule. Alphonse has declared that any privateer who defeats a Garvey or Eslandolan force in battle shall be given special trading rights with Mardier, and the greatest privateer of all at the end of the war will be named ambassador to his or her faction with special privileges. (Mardierian High Command - MOCed by our very own, illustrious, Bregir) (Prizes for Overall Individual Winners: Anyone who enters at least once for Eslandola and Garvey's side will get the prize of a 20% greater gain in the MRCA whenever visiting an ESL port for the next three months after the results of the challenge are posted or a 15% greater gain on any landbased properties placed in either Garvey or Eslandolan settlements built in the same time period (but the bonus would stay in place for those properties for all the foreseeable future), and the one overall winner for this side [determined by their average of entries from all categories] will receive the honorary title of Prince of Garvey, and will get a 40% greater gain when trading in any GAR or ESL ports during the next four months or a 30% bonus on all landbased properties in ESL or GAR settlements built during the same period (again, the bonuses would not go away afterwards - just any new builds would not be eligible for the bonus). Everyone who enters at least once for Mardier, on the other hand, will get a 25% greater gain whenever visiting MAR ports for the next three months after the results for the challenge are published or a 20% greater gain on any landbased properties placed in Mardierian settlements which are built in the same time period (but the bonus would likewise stay in place after that), and the overall winner for this side will receive the honorary title of Mardierian Ambassador, and a 50% trading bonus in MAR ports for four months/MRCAs or a 40% bonus on all landbased properties MAR settlements built during the same period (same bonus provisions as before). But we digress...) But what is at stake for the nations, you ask? The future of Mardier, Garvey, and Eslandola all hang in the balance! Will Mardier crush its opponents and regain its old position as the greatest empire of the world, or will Eslandola and Garvey be dictating its terms? Find out and tell us! (OOC: Another digression, I'm afraid! Overall Faction Winners: MAR, if the winning side, would win: The war... Isla de Many Names, an extra settlement on said island a royal fort license to be placed in any of its territories a monthly stipend of 300DBs to be paid by Eslandola as rent for the land on which Fuerte Unido is situated (the settlement, however, would continue to belong to ESL) ESL, if the winning side, would win: The war... Isla de Many Names, microbuild licenses (5 small, 3 medium, 2 large - free choice of category) to be placed in an extra settlement (if possible use one of the existing MAR locations) on the island, a royal fort license (to be placed anywhere on the island, three microbuilds required, showing different parts of the fort, or one large microbuild, license doesn't count against the fort limit of the corresponding settlement) In the case of no decisive win, one way or the other, the island would be peacefully (well, not really... but the war would be ended) split in half between MAR and ESL. first ranking faction among COR/OL/SR: microbuild licenses (5 small, 3 medium, 2 large - free choice of category) to be placed anywhere, which are the results of the efforts of those trying to escape the Mardierian war to settle in other nations' territory, a royal fort license (to be placed anywhere, three microbuilds required, showing different parts of the fort, or one large microbuild, license doesn't count against the fort limit of the corresponding settlement), 3000 FIPs second place: microbuild licenses (3 small, 2 medium, 1 large - free choice of category) to be placed anywhere, with the same reasoning as above, two large fort licenses (not upgradable, to be placed anywhere, one microbuild required per license, license don't count against the fort limit of the corresponding settlements), 2000 FIPs third place: microbuild licenses (2 small, 1 medium - free choice of category) to be placed anywhere, one large fort license (not upgradable, to be placed anywhere, microbuild required, license doesn't count against the fort limit of the corresponding settlement) 1000 FIPs End of prize info). This is the last challenge in Era I, The Discovery, and any member may build for either side – and it doesn’t necessarily have to be the side you think is best or right! There is not even any need to build for the same side in each category, and each member may build a maximum of one entry per side for each category – that is, you can have a total of 10 entries, max. Besides the usual category winners (one from each side [MAR or ESL + GAR], best build on the winning side being the winner and the best on the other the runner up of the category), there will be one overall winner for each team (the number of categories entered coming into play here), who will win the top individual prizes mentioned above. As per the usual, other factions will still compete against one another for the faction prizes as well (whichever side you build for, it will still help your own faction here - and note that, as there is already very much at stake for ESL, they won't be contending for this particular prize, see the faction prize info above), and the overall winning side (ESL and GAR or MAR and its allies) will end up being the winning side of the war. [Credit to the GoH leaders for many of the ideas above!] Category A: The Assassin's Creep Setting: The streets of Kings Port. Love and death are in the air. Panic has come over the island due to rumors that Alphonse has silenced the opposition back on the mainland. With their own leader in pseudo-rebellion, the Terraversans worry that Alphonse’s Death Guard will make their way to the island to reclaim it once and for all. Now is the time to make alliances and break previous partnerships. The best way to form an alliance is through marriage; the best way to break one is through bloodshed. Depict a romantic outing or a tragic end of life scene (or maybe both?) which affects the relationship between Terraversa and Mardier or some other nation. The MOC may be no larger than 16 x 16, and minifigure posing will be taken into account when judging. Due Date: February 28th, anywhere in the world Category Prize – 1st place - A battalion of Terraversan mercenaries, free of charge and upkeep - and 41149 Moana's Island Adventure Runner-up - A company of Terraversan troops, free of charge and upkeep - Results - Category B: ‘Till my dying breath… Setting: Skaford Heights. Mardier’s secret colony has been discovered by Eslandolan forces, and now there is a plan for a joint all-out assault! Builders need to pick a side and depict the Garvey and Eslandolan assault on the island. Your character does not have to be physically involved in the attack, but your sig fig has funded this expedition to defend or attack Skaford Heights (your sig-fig does not necessarily have to be involved with or funding the same side as the one you are building for). The MOC must depict a beach landing, a defense mounted by the Mardierians, and the death of a hero, and may be up to 48x48 studs. At least one picture must be a close up of the Hero’s death scene (artistic license for posing allowed, of course – see Death of General Wolfe for an example of artistic license.) Due Date: March 31st, anywhere in the world Category Prize – 1st place - 500 PIPs and a free medium fort (activated by a micro-build) to be placed anywhere - and 31063 Beachside Vacation Runner-up - 300 PIPs and a free small fortress (activated, likewise, by a micro-build) - Results - Category C: On Stranger Tentacles Setting: The Sea of Prio. Did you hear that Garvey has harnessed the power of the Kracken? Or perhaps you have heard about how King Alphonse rides on a giant Narwhal, destroying ships at his leisure? Terrible things lay in the depths of the Far Seas, and you will be depicting one of them. There are no size limits, but there must be a terrible sea creature, and it must be destroying a vessel or terrorizing a camp on shore from the side you are not supporting in the war. The monster must be natively aquatic (no jungle beasts, please). Due Date: March 31st, anywhere in the world Category Prize – 1st place - Cooperate with with the gamemasters in moving the Kraken in the upcoming quest! - and 70623 Destiny's Shadow Runner-up - Learn ahead of time the location of the Kraken (either to chase it or to run away!) for the first two MRCAs - Results - Category D: Yum Yum, Bumbel Tuna Setting: The far seas. The Mardierian fleet in the far seas has made their latest fortune in the fishing industry. Tuna has become the latest craze among the elite of the mainland. Mardier’s sailors have developed trade secrets and hidden away the best fishing spots to create a near monopoly on this most sought after fish, as the Eastern Bumbel Tuna Trading Company reaps massive profits! The Garvian privateers seek to hit Mardier where it hurts, their wallet. Builders depict either Garvian privateers intercepting a Mardier fishing vessel or show Mardier troops outwitting the Garvian privateers. This MOC may be up to 48x48 studs. The MOC must include TWO vessels, fish (brick built are fine!), and waves. Due Date: April 15th, anywhere in the world Category Prize – 1st place - A life-time supply of Bumbel Tuna!!! Reap a 300% profit next time you go on a Bounty Run (you'll have to let the automaters know after the KPA is published to triple the amount, or make sure they have already done so) - and 41150 Moana's Ocean Voyage Runner-up - Reap a 200% profit on your next bounty run - Results - Category E: The Treasure Trove Setting: The New World It is said that Mardier has been building up a massive fleet and army, which have been amassing at their ports to crush the rebels and Eslandola once and for all. There is only one wee little problem – Mardier is, essentially, broke. But rumor has it that somewhere in the newly discovered islands there is a fabled kingdom of gold, where the natives of the place have far more of the shiny metal than they know what to do with – and rumor has it, too, that the East Bumbel Tuna Company has found a map leading to this kingdom, and that they mean to use all means, fair and foul, to get this gold to support the Mardierian war endeavor and finish off the rebels once and for all! Such a sum of money could be the making or breaking of the struggling empire, but the news seems to have escaped and it is more than only the Mardierian who search for that lost treasure now! Show either one of your characters hearing about, discovering and/or carrying off this treasure, and dealing with the natives (and it doesn’t necessarily have to be for Eslandola! – as long as Mardier doesn’t get it, that is good enough for them!), or tell us how Mardier and the East Bumbel Tuna Company managed to thwart the treasure hunters and securely carry off this store of doubloons! But it is said that Mardier is not a nation with a track record of getting along very well with the native peoples… This is a story category, and you are allowed a maximum of three builds to portray this, the sizes being no greater than one 16x16, one 32x32, and one unlimited build respectively. There are no restrictions as to how you find the treasure or where this kingdom is located except that it is on one of the newly discovered islands of the Prio seas or the new Haven Seas region. Are the natives there friendly, or are they fiercely protective of their gold? Do pirates make off with the doubloons, do they fall into the hands of the rebels or Eslandolans, or is Mardier able to carry out their villainous masterplan? You decide! Due Date: May 15th, anywhere in the world Category Prize – 1st place - A new island (of the Prio seas, though your build could be in the new Haven seas) of your choice for your faction and 600 DBs - and 31065 Park Street Townhouse Runner-up - 500 DBs - Results - And now get to building those MOCs! The fate of the Brick Seas rests in your hands!
  2. Merrynight caroling to the less fortunate in Nellisa. The less fortunate don't seem all that interested in Merrynight singing. The rats on the other hand are leaving town.
  3. Ahoy, fellow BoBSers, a bit late maybe, but then... minions do their things when they feel like it - celebrating is no different. This is an entry for the Nellisan Merrynight mini-challenge, category C. Merry Mug'mas After having sold the plundered (and later beached) Santa Clara to Oleon - by the way the ship sank as those incompetent minions hadn't managed to fix her up watertight... or did they do that on purpose... maybe they don't even know themselves... anyways, moving on - well, with all the treasure and the additional Oleander DB, the minions had enough cash at their disposal to throw a proper Mug'mas party. So they filled up The One MugTM with mulled wine... and just went nuts. What's in all the presents, you may ask - probably just mugs and hats They had even heard about that Nellisan custom of decorating a fir tree... but somehow misunderstood the concept... or did it intentionally... who knows... anyways - bottom line: the fir tree quickly turned into a fire tree... About: Well, nothing special about this at all, the mug has been used before, the rest is pretty basic. However, the idea was in my head as soon as I read about the Merrynight mini-contest. This just had to be done Thanks for watching C&C welcome!
  4. Just a quick build to introduce Oleon's latest settlement, Lavalette. Comments and criticism are welcome. New Arrivals and Old Rivalries "And that is where we'll put the palisade, Monsieur Hollande," said the major as he pointed to the map. "How exciting, only twenty-three and already supervising our new settlement," replied Henri Hollande, his voice lacking even a trace of excitement. Pausing, the major stared at Henri as the young man furiously mopped his brow with a handkerchief. Clearly Henri came from some wealthy or well-connected family, the major thought, because no one in their right mind would let this young dandy supervise the cutting of a tree, much less the construction of the Jewel of New Terra. And jumping in terror at the first crab to cross his path certainly did not win Henri any favors with the men. Oh well, sighed the major, hopefully the RNTC would send along a competent lieutenant to take charge. New Beginnings by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr After taking a sip of his wine, Henri interrupted the major's thoughts. "But what I still don't get is why you need to build this wall with all these curvy and bendy lines." Seeing where Henri was pointing, the major paused and turned his gaze to mildly intoxicated Henri. "That would be the river, as I've said numerous times. The initial fortifications will be here and here, just south of the town" stated the major. "Now, if you'll follow my finger, I can show you," but before the major could complete his thought, he was interrupted. "What is the meaning of this!" shouted the priest of Poseidon as he limped towards the two men. Using his trident to support his leg, the priest bawled "need I remind you that I represent the Order, with my authority coming from the Lord Chancellor himself who's authority is derived from the King who was appointed over us by Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades! How dare you start construction without consulting me, without even the obligatory sacred mass!" "Profit waits for no man" replied Henri, as stupid in diplomacy as in construction. "What!" roared the priest. Unintelligibly mumbling, Henri disappeared into his nearly empty glass of wine leaving the major to deal with the priest. "Now, father, we have the upmost respect for the Faith, and I can remember no act of disrespect towards you during the whole trip." "No act of disrespect," the priest began before the major interrupted. "No disrespect whatsoever, and I'm sorry that we had to start without you, but we simply cannot afford to keep the men cooped up while we wait for your leg to heal." New Beginnings by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr "Hmmph," grunted the priest, as fatigue from the heat began to take its toll on him. "Well, I'm glad you see things my way. Had it not been for that freak accident, I'm glad to hear you would have stuck with tradition." "Yes, yes" replied the major, "now allow me to help you to the boat and we'll be sure to hold a proper mass once you're up to it." Bracing himself on the major's arm, the priest muttered "most unlucky, who would have though a block would fall from such heights." "Most unlucky indeed," the major agreed, but for different reasons. Still, the major silently consoled himself, Tyche couldn't constantly be with the priest. And if the poison in the major's footlocker was as deadly as the natives claimed it to be, construction of Lavalette could continue without the Order interfering. New Beginnings by Capt. 5. Mrs. Cantelli is anxiously awaiting the arrival of her fir tree at the port. Her husband, Mr. Cantelli, spared no expense importing a fir tree for Merrynight. He ordered it from his tree importer. His importer is making a healthy profit by using a new supplier.
  6. Harr me harties! I mean ahoy maties! I'd like to present you my new ship. I really wanted to do something with my white hull, but at first I thought it was not going to be used. The white and black tops looked so pixelized, I had to do something. So I covered up the black with white tiles. I also got really inspired by Kurigans red walls on the inside of his new brig, but I don't like the use of electrical tape. So I took a look at the brig made by Andersen T. and got the idea of using tiles on the side. This might also be done with the new small 1x2 rounded slopes, but I like the planked look the tiles have now. I haven't put figures on the ship yet, I need to think of a captain and all that but I don't have the DB's to license her at the moment anyway. So I might do that later on, but for now; enjoy the pictures!
  7. An old cook made butcher. When Felipe and Basil arrived at Fuerte Unido with their new vessel, they brang with them a crew of value. And one of those capable men was the board cook... He was a strong man burnt by the sun and a capable sailor in addition to be a great cook ! At the arrival to Fuerte Unido, he took on himself to develop a butcher shop and asked to Felipe to stay in Fuerte Unido to feed the soldiers. Felipe simply could not refuse. So he let his best cook at land to be a butcher. Now the butcher shop is newly open ! The pork gardian, a poor boy, too young to be a good mousse, is already bringing some piggies from the fortified farm built among the rocks. Inside the shop our former sailor is serving some clients. This is a small commerce built in Fuerte Unido for the Operation KMA. C & Cs are welcome.
  8. Prior builds: In the Captains Cabin (Bregir) Pieces Of A Puzzle (Ayrlego) Arriving at Mooreton Bay (Bregir) Dirk, Davy and Sergeant Gowan weren’t the only new crewman the Black Oak had taken on of late, and soon after boarding they were assigned various tasks and duties. It was not long before they turned up good intelligence on the privateer either. The crew were more than willing to talk of the rumoured Eslandolan treasure fleet they were going after and there was much speculation on how they would take prizes from the fleet. Dirk also discovered that on the way to Leopoldis the Oak had taken a Corlander merchantman and that deep in the hold approximately half a dozen Corlander prisoners were being kept in captivity. In Dirk’s mind, this fact, more than any other made the Oak a legitimate target for Captain Cooke and the Ironsides. Further evidence was uncovered when a ship named Shareka arrived in the bay with supplies for the Oak. The captain of the Shareka, Corvus Rohgert, came aboard briefly with a load of cannonballs for the frigate. He disappeared into the Captain's cabin with the Captain of the Black Oak, Hendrick Janszoon and the quartermaster. The trio emerged after an hour or so and Rohgert returned to his vessel. Of course the plan upon boarding the Oak had always been to conduct a quick reconnaissance, gather any information they could glean, and then sneak off as soon as possible. Unfortunately however that wasn’t quite how it worked out… Janszoon, now fully re-crewed and resupplied, had decided to quietly slip out of Leopoldis that very night. With no chance to sneak ashore, Dirk and his companions had little choice but to put to sea with the privateer with the hope that the Ironsides would catch up with them before too long. The three meet on the upper decks to conduct a whispered conversation. “Well a fine pickle we find ourselves in now isn’t it” declared Davy “Indeed.” answered Dirk, “The plan was always going to be for Cooke and the Ironsides to intercept the Oak after she left Leopoldis… of course we were supposed to be aboard the Ironsides and not the Oak!” “Aye well, when the Ironsides turns up we’ll swap sides I imagine” injected the Sergeant Gowan nonchalantly . “Yes, and if we can free the prisoners in the hold it will bolster our force – hopefully we can give Cooke the advantage he needs.” continued Dirk. "Some gossip you may be interested in Major, it appears that Rohgert bought the Captain some interesting news" said Davy. Apparently a portion of the greenback treasure will be disguised as cannonballs...." “Oi, you three, back to work you lubbers” screamed the quartermaster, spying the trio talking. With that the three men went back to their tasking. After three days sailing the Oak had spotted the sails of the treasure fleet on the horizon, but there was still no sign of the Ironsides. The next days were spent stalking the fleet from a distance. Janszoon was confident that a chance would arrive to pick off vessels one at a time. On the forth day cannon shot could be heard over the horizon, and it was assumed that the fleet had engaged other pirates somewhere to the north. The Oak’s chance came shortly thereafter. During a small squall that night, one of the fleet’s galleons became separated from the rest of the fleet and lagged behind. Janszoon took his chance and pounced, at full sail the Oak surged through the waves and gave chase. Dirk and Davy observed the Galleon from the deck. “Rather old fashioned looking” commented Dirk “An older galleon” stated Davy. “The greenbacks have been using them to transport their wealth back to the mainland since men first sailed out here.” “So the pirate’s confidence in taking her easily is well founded?” asked Dirk. “Nay,” answered Davy, “Don’t be fooled by her gaudy colours and stubby old fashioned appearance, the greenbacks still use them for a reason – they are strong and extremely tough and well armed for a merchantman. Also her decks are higher than ours, which makes her less manoeuvrable, but also means we will be at a disadvantage when boarding.” Davy pondered the situation some more. “This crew we find ourselves part of is new and has been hastily thrown together. Most of the men have never worked together before, although there are a sprinkling of old salts through the crew and most have had individual experience at sea actions.” “The notable expectation being me of course” quipped Dirk. Although an experienced army officer he had never fought on the high seas before. “Aye, except for you and the good Sergeant, landlubbers you are” replied Davy. “If we catch her it will be a close thing I predict. Her crew will be good and they know there will be no mercy from pirates – they’ll fight hard. I suspect that the Captain knows it too, that’s why he beefed up the crew in Leopoldis. The question I have for you Major Allcock, is what do we do in a boarding action” Both men pondered that for a while. While Dirk was still silent Davy added, “If things don’t go well for us we’ll never convince the greenbacks we are Corrie spies, they’ll execute us as pirates – if they even allow us to surrender… and even if the Oak gets away, the pirates here will know we didn’t fight and we will probably meet the same fate… or worse…” Dirk look up. “Then we hope that we don’t catch her… but if we do….” This next part came hard for the usually law abiding Major. “… then I guess we fight as pirates and hope Cooke catches up with us soon.” There really wasn’t any other alternative. Unfortunately for Dirk, a few hours later it seemed inevitable they would catch the smaller vessel. As the first cannon crashed out Dirk found himself crewing one of the cannons on the gun deck of the frigate. Thus Major Dirk Allcock, temporary military commander of the Corlander colony of Alicentia and Secretary of the Royal Society of Natural Philosophy reluctantly became a pirate. The two ships exchanged fire for only a short time. Janszoon closed in on the galleon, who was revealed to have the name Alejandro de Vargas. The approach was made as fast as possible as to not overly damage his potential prize. A lucky cannon ball from the Oak knocked out the Alejandro’s rudder meaning the Oak was able to rapidly approach alongside for boarding. The men abandoned the cannons and Dirk found himself with Davy and Sergeant Gowan forming up with the aft attack party on the main deck. Small arms fire began to ring out as the Eslandolan Marines opened fire with their muskets. Sharp shooters from both ships masts began their own deadly duel. Sergeant Gowan, the best shot of the trio, joined in the shooting, and to the delight of the nearby pirates managed to hit a marine perched in the galleon’s main mast. The first grappling hooks were thrown across from the Oak and men heaved the two ships closer together. It was now, with the two vessels locked in a deadly embrace that disaster struck for the pirates. Just as the men were about to surge forward and leap onto the galleon, a wave lifted her out of the water enough to give one of her forward guns a clear shot of the deck. The Eslandolans manning the gun had been waiting for just such an opportunity, and had charged the gun with a musket balls and metal scraps. The deadly grape shot crashed across the forecastle of the Oak, cutting down most of the waiting forward boarding party, including the ship’s Quartermaster. Before Dirk had time to fully comprehend this event, the ships crashed together with a terrifying crack of timber and Dirk stumbled and was pushed forward with the rest of the aft boarding party. He leaped up onto the deck of the galleon and had barely scrambled to his feet before being knocked back down by the body of the pirate before him. A group of Eslandolan marines, led by a Sergeant in an old fashioned breastplate, polished to a gleaming silver and carrying a wicked looking poleaxe. The marines charged. Dirk just had time to lift his pistol and dispatch one before the lines crashed together. Hastily discarding the pistol, his sword came up desperately to parry an attack from an Eslandolan sailor. In those first minutes of the melee, the greater numbers of pirates began to slowly overcome the defenders. However this ended when a party of Eslandolan marines and sailors who were stationed forward to repel boarders rushed aft to join the battle. They were no longer required forward due to the fact the survivors of the Oak’s forward boarding party remained onboard the Oak. Now evenly matched, things were becoming desperate for the attacking pirates. Dirk found himself alongside his trusted Sergeant and the two fought together as they had many times on land. Dirk found himself facing the Marine Sergeant with the breastplate and poleaxe. He was able to somehow parry the first two crushing blows, but was completely off balance for the third. It was then a pistol ball struck the marine’s breast plate and deflected up, lodging in the man’s jaw. Dirk glanced behind to see Davy holding a smoking pistol. “Was saving that one” he commented laconically. Eventually the Eslandolan defence collapsed due to the greater numbers of pirates and sheer ferocity of their attack. The survivors, including the trio of Corlanders, stood exhausted on the blood soaked deck. The casualties were enormous however, far greater than anticipated – almost half the Oak’s crew were dead or maimed to the point where they were useless. Not a single Eslandolan survived. Night was fast approaching, and to make things worse it seems so was another squall. Desperate repairs began on both ships. Dirk could never recall much of what happened in the next few hours, the men feverishly worked in a state of trance to repair the ships in order to get underway. It was clear that they would need to return to a safe harbour with their prize before attempting another attack on the fleet. Janszoon was furious. Soon both ships were limping forward, a skeleton prize crew including Davy aboard the Alejandro. Dirk and Sergeant Gowan remained aboard the Oak. Then as the last light was quickly fading on the western horizon, a cry from the lookout alerted the crew to sails on the southern horizon… -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- An extra shot
  9. And this is what happens when you have only a few hours before the deadline, and only one partially complete build, but are determined to enter something into this category... Once back in a tavern in Bastion Captain Dracken gathered his officers in a private room with plenty of grog. Several rounds of drinks later First Mate Jakes had to ask once more question about the Fountain. "So what happened to the other guy?" he asked, "this father... Tholeua?" Before Dracken could offer his thoughts Iosefka interrupted. "They say dead men tell no tales," she began, "but truely the living need listen more attentively. For Tholeau's fate is no great enigma to those inclined to hear..." The Last Island... Truely, Tholeau had drunk of the Fountain and been restored. But youth has its own curses, recklessness prime amongst many. He went on to the next island heedless of the cost he had incurred, for his selfish use of the Fountain had angered the local spirits and roused the ghosts of all who had gone before him. On the third and final of those islands he found another cave. Of course he had to know what treasure lay on this island. But he found no treasure. Only bones, and hatred for the life he had claimed for himself. And try as he want his legs availed him not. And deep in the caves of that isle he still lays. Water he sought. Water he did find. One Last Answer "So, Althea asked, "if Tholeau died on that island how did his journal get out?" "The dead," Iosefka answered, "do not all rest easy on dark nights and wyrd tides. And Tholeau, he seek immortality above all else. Death not keep his tale untold, and so he become myth. Myth not die so quietly or quickly." "What you're saying," Jakes said, "is that his ghost carried his journal off that island." "It would not be the strangest thing we have seen." Dracken said. A very last minute category B entry, because I just haven't the energy for a second elaborate build. Some "clean" shots of the cavern and it's contents are behind the spoiler button.
  10. They knew about the Golden Fleet, but nothing about the escort... The Eslandian authorities, well aware of the leak of their intel concerning the Golden Fleet, had decided to keep more or less the same route, as it was considered the fastest and probably the safest (if we were not counting the numerous pirates that would try to plunder the fleet). So, they decided to recruit some new vessels to create a good escort. This is where the brand new vessel of Felipe de la Manzana had been sent for her maiden trip... Captain Log, end of September 616 : The Galleon we are in charge is peacefully setting sail to our next stop where we will resupply with fresh water, but I am not sure we will not see another pirate flag before. It was exhausting for my crew to protect this Golden Fleet... Every corner of every rock or sand bank from Nellisa to Terelli is welcoming a vessel ready to attack us. Bl...dy officials who are not capable of keeping this fleet a secret. I just left this log away a few minutes and we are already seeing a black sail... It has become a routine now, my sailors are well trained and my artillery crew has became more accurate. Finally, this escort will be a good training for them... Well, I am back to my log, just to report that we effectively intercepted a pirate ship trying to plunder the fleet. The Galleon had been touched but suffered no real damage. My crew managed to cut the road of the pirates apparently quite surprised to discover a heavy armed frigate to stop them. Apparently they knew about the Golden Fleet, but nothing about the escort. This is the official log Felipe de la Manzana left at the Terelli port officer when he arrived safely. After that run, he returned with his brand new Frigate to Elisabethtown to join Basil. He did not knew he would receive urgent orders from the crown just at his arrival... But this is another story... This is, finally, my challenge 4B entry. I hope you will like it ! I really wanted to try some micro ships based on LEGO canot hull. Garmadon made already one and it was so amazing that I couldn't pass on that technique. This challenge was the best opportunity for me to try several ship designs. Your comments and criticisms are very welcome !
  11. Ahoy, fellow fleet protectors and plunderers! After the prequel, here's the continuation - Cat. B entry incoming! Bon Voyage! A week after the events in the green navy's HQ back in Terr... let's not do this again – green capital city – the esland... seriously?! – THAT nation's treasure fleet was on its way. The Kings Port Advertiser featured that awareness poster in its latest edition, the fleet had left Nell... that green island in the East – smooth, Mr. Narrator, smooth... without any incidents, and what was best of all – there were no rumors out on the streets about a large convoy filled with gold whatsoever. The green chief's plan had worked out. Kudos on that, Mr. green chief! Time to relax and have a look at one of the treasure ships en route, shall we? What have we got... this one right here, yes, the Santa Clara. Once famed expedition ship of whatwashisname Ivo Fortesque, now commanded by his son Pedro, and assigned a task not less important than the discovery of new shores – the collection of the riches of said shores. Yes, the Santa Clara, here she is. ...wait, is she being boarded by Oleanders? Ah, no, this is just a patrol, obviously helping the fleet to steer clear of the reefs and shallows in the tricky northern waters of LeBellan. Yes, Oleanders, what friendly folks, by the way much nicer than those uptight and arrogant Corries... but let's not go there. Back to the Santa Clara. Well, it seems she and the rest of the fleet will soon be on the final stage of their journey, on the finish-line so to speak, only save waters ahead – what could possibly go wrong now?! Bon voyage! … wait... I just thought I had seen something in the water... … WHAT THE...!!! What is this? What is going on?? Is this a... are those those... MINIONS??? *looses it* It seems... they've come up with a... device – wait, is that their toy from the sewers, but in big?! – and have drilled right through the hull of the Santa Clara... now vacuuming and shoveling the gold right into their dive boat! And nobody is taking notice!! They... they are sneaky geniuses!!! Oh my gods, actually, I'm not even mad, that's amazing!!!! *grabs popcorn* Well, it seems the narrator is gone for a while, so let me continue from here. Nice to meet you, let me show you my overhanging bowsprit... Ahem, let's better have some more pics of the MOC, after all we've barely just met... And lastly, the ships - together with their 'toy' versions: About: Well, where to start... as usual all parts exist, both vessels can be built. I finally managed to finish the Santa Clara, complete with a full hull - which in general is maybe the most annoying thing I've ever 'had' to build. Credits for the technique go to cb4 and Frank Brick Wright. As you can see the upper part of the ship merely rests on the lower hull, which might not seem that stable per se, but something tells me this works... Next, the 'device' - it's sort of a diving vessel, propelled mechanically, and - as the narrator has already pointed out - equipped with a circular saw and a drill for sneak attacks from down below. In case you're wondering where I got the idea from... well, I kind of grew up with it, as the 'Tauchboot' is prominently featured in an old GDR comic, that I've always loved. And the best thing: once the minions dive off, the cut out part of the hull neatly falls back in place... hopefully - otherwise the Santa Clara is doomed So, in the end it seems those Minions are to be reckoned with after all. Still not sure whether this qualifies as protecting or plundering the fleet Hope you enjoy C&C welcome! Vive le Roi!
  12. Challenge Four – The First Treasure Fleet. Eslandola’s prize of New Terra, Nelisa has yielded many wonderful treasures for the economy of its parent nation. However, not much of gold and silver found on the island have been moved to the Old World yet. The King has decided to fill his coffers once more with the riches of his new colonies, and with cooperation from the great trade companies, they plan on moving a large portion of the treasure in a convoy from Nelisa to Terreli. Unfortunately some suspicious characters let loose the secret, and now the whole world is descending down upon the Sea of Storms waiting to take a shot at the convoy and its riches. Due Date: September 25 October 2nd, anywhere in the world Category A: Loose lips sinks ships In this category the builders are going to demonstrate how the secret of Eslandolan treasure fleet was leaked. Be creative, was it a spy? A pay-off? The King himself? Many rumors are floating around, illustrate one of them! The size limitation here is 32x32 with limited overhang. The winner of this challenge will have the right to set up a small settlement on an island their faction controls, and appoint a mayor character under their control (it can be your sig fig if you would like). They will also earn the title: Secret seller of New Terra. Category B: Plunder! In this category, builders will illustrate the plundering of the treasure fleet, or if they are allied to Eslandola (maybe they own a letter of marque?) or Eslandolan, they will depict the defense of the fleet. You don’t have to depict the whole fleet, one ship verses another works, or even a ship coming under internal threat would work here as well. If you don’t want to illustrate this with ship mocs, perhaps your men and women may be plundering the treasure fleet from the docks before it even gets off the boat in Terrelli? Anything goes, as long as the treasure fleet is being plundered or protected. The size limitation in generous, but overall all of the pieces of the MOC, when displayed, should fit within a 80x48 stud rectangle. The winning entry will earn its builder the title: Plunderer of the Great Golden Fleet, or Defender of the Great Golden Fleet. The winning nation will be able to use their new found treasure to invest in further discovery and will obtain one island and name it. Prizes - To Be Determined
  13. Wheat Field: Saturday night, I feel the air is getting hot ... I'll start again: It is Saturday afternoon and Colonel Brickinson is paying an inspection visit to a Pontelli wheat plantation: He has come to meet with the supervisor of the field The golden field is in excellent shape ... and well-protected: Thanks for watching - and, btw. approvals from Sea Rats, Corrington and Oleon are very welcome (this being 5th free-build)
  14. I present the 4115th Eslandolean Artillery Regiment under the command of Colonel Brickinson: These guys are tough - and hard to detect in their bright green uniforms. They are preparing to protect and defend Pontelli against all possible attackers. Colonel Brickinson is utterly determined! I wanted to show that the heavy guns have been moved across the grass but it doesn't come out so well on the pictures. The artillery battery has been fortified (with plans to build a stone defense in the near future). C&C Welcome.
  15. As some of you might have read, the Wringe I was captured by the pirate Zublious Van Wreck on his Ghost Harvester. "This is not good! The Fallen Angel has fallen, and we don't stand a chance against a ship this big, we'll have to give up." "We are giving up! Your broadside would completely destroy our ship! Take everything we have but leave us alive!" "You can stay alive, but not on your ship, this is a nice prize I'll be able to put to good use!" "Get some guns on here, mighty crewman, lets turn this unarmed vessel into a well armed vessel!" "Bring her to the Nest of Thieves, you should be able to defend her well to get there!" "So, you don't want to be a pirate but you want to stay alive? Well, you have choosen poorly..." "Go off on this raft we found drifting around here, maybe you survive!" "Captain, I'm not sure if this was the right choice. But they have given us some wood, maybe we can still get somewhere" "They haven't thought that the piece of rope they used to constrain us might be useful to us! We can build a mast!" *concentrated silence* "And they even left us some clothing! Even better!" "I told you everything is better than being a pirate" "I'm not sure if I completely agree" "Is that Captain Ben D'Anvers? I thought we had lost him with his ship during the hurricane!" "Save me!" *swimming noises* "Grab my hand!" "I hope we'll arrive somewhere before we run out of water or into another hurricane..." I hope you liked the story how the crew of the Wringe I as well as the captain of the Knight of Stedor got stuck on a raft floating around the ocean. There might be more coming to this story, or maybe not (anyone who wants to pick up on this story is free to do so, just tell me before doing so. The parts shouldn't be impossible to get:P)... The ship you saw will not be completed, it is just barely a third of a broadside without masts and anything else:P
  16. Settlement Name: Haven Owner: Sea Rats Location: Isla del Diablo (Challenge Island 11) Island Description: Located southeast of the Nest of Thieves, Isla del Diablo is named for the large bay and small peninsulas that, once a map way drawn, resembled nothing so much as the horns of a monster. The bay, however, provides an almost perfect natural harbor and a well defensible position. Unsurprisingly the island has already started to draw settlers, although some are scared away by talk of cannibals... Haven is one of the first new settlements. The inhabitants arrived in a small fleet to find clear beaches and dense jungle that provides plenty of material for building endeavors. Already the de facto leader, Roland Blaze, is drawing up plans for fortifications. After all, there are more than just Sea Rats out there. Mayor: Roland Blaze (kaiju) Size: Hamlet Who can own Property in Haven: Sea Rats Who can freebuild in Haven: Anyone Map: Here Fortifications: Fort Crimson - Small Fort Licensed Builds in Haven: Black Tower Lighthouse - Medium Commerce Haven Common House - Medium Residence The Shrines of Haven - Small Art & Cultural Tanith's House of Knowledge - Small Education Unlicensed/Other Builds: Hunting for Spiders About Haven
  17. I need a bigger ship, the Wringe II just doesn't cut it. Due to this, I've decided that I'll get my shipbuilders to build a bigger ship for me. And they've succeded again! This ship is a class 3T2, a large sloop which will be a ship shared with MAESTRO and members. Her captain is Captian Nard Klein Veegevuur. So, lets see how she looks like: Lets also see her stern: And also sailing with the wind; the mast is not tipping over, thats just the perspective:P Lastly we have a size comparision with the Wringe II, as I feel like thats necessery. If you want more size comparision shots with different ships just ask;) 10 Shares:
  18. Dramatis Personae: Previously, https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/158702-sr-mrca-welcome-to-the-jungle-part-3/... Currently, somewhere on the high seas... Yes...with The Alois Forever, the most advanced ship in the entire Olean navy, I will finally bring my precious Alois back to the Olean cause...and make him mine. It's just another stupid microbuild! The stupid face who writes these idiotic posts not only can't write, but doesn't seem capable of building a sailing ship at minifig scale! It's not just a microbuild! It's named after my dearest darling Alois, and has 100 points in every stat...it's the most powerful ship in the Olean navy! And wait...what are you doing here? Since nothing interesting happened in the latest Trade MRCA to my stupid advisor and her students, the stupid face pombe jerk wad writer decided to post something about your stupid quest for Alois. And for some moronic reason, he thought adding me to your story would be funny. I can't even explain how I'm in two places at once; I told you his writing sucks. And how is a ship with a 100 points in every stat even allowed in BoBS?! Ha ha! My true naval genius is revealed! I can use ships with whatever stats I wish, so long as I don't license them! Ha ha! You mean the ship is useless since it can't participate in the MRCA. A minor detail. Captain, shall I have her detained and moved to the brig? What?! No, Helmut, leave her be. We'll have her witness my master plan as it unfolds. She'll see when we arrive at our destination. Great. Where are we headed? I can't reveal that, yet. Why not? It's not like a single psychology graduate student is going to overwhelm your ship with 100 Crew points...though the max stats according to the rules is 12. No, it's a separate MOC and will be posted as a separate freebuild to maximize the doubloons we get. You'll see it then. I have no words. To be continued! And additional photos can be found under the spoiler, including how the base for the ship was constructed! Comments and criticisms are all welcome!
  19. This is a build I made to explain what Genaro was doing in King's Harbour prior to arriving at the ball Bregir hosted. Comments and criticisms are welcome. I would also like to thank Bodi for his assistance with the French. Previously: Lavalette Inn An Offer Reaching King's Harbour by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr King’s Harbour was hardly the type of settlement a Oleander could feel at ease in. Though a Corrie might disagree, any Oleander could tell you immediately that the culture, if you could call it that, was lacking at best, architecture placing utility over beauty, and no Oleander would consider the settlement’s shrines to be a substitute for a proper temple to the gods. The culture, if you could call it that, was lacking at best, the architecture was focused on utility over beauty, and they didn’t even have a decent temple for mariners to thank Poseidon after a safe journey. But by far the most uncomfortable part was the lack of respect the Corries held for one’s rank. Oh, it isn’t as bad as those republican greenies, but Corries have some truly disturbing ideas about equality and fair treatment. Despite these shortcomings, Captain Anthony Genaro wasn’t too disappointed at being in the settlement. After all, the Corries were decent scientists and he was anxious to see the latest chronometers. Perhaps if he was lucky, Anthony would manage to find a few good books on history and archeology. But all that would have to wait for now since Captain Genaro was presently escorting a RNTC lieutenant-directeur to the workshop of Thomas Brickcomen. There really wasn’t any reason for Anthony to be there other than the fact that he was a naval officer and Capitaine de Frégate, and the RNTC official thought it would impress the Corries. Reaching King's Harbour by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Anthony and the official approached the workshop and were quickly greeted by Thomas Brickcomen at the door. After a proper introduction and some pleasantries, they entered the workshop and went to a table buried under plans and papers. The official pulled some papers out of his coat and began opening them on the table while Anthony simply starred at the meaningless diagrams. Despite his best efforts to appear interested, Thomas quickly realized that Anthony wasn’t overly concerned by the discussion. Reaching King's Harbour by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr “Captain, I don’t believe we’ll be needing your assistance for some time, sir,” said Thomas, the RNTC official nodding in agreement. “Perhaps you would prefer to step outside? I always find the fresh air to be much-needed relief from the air in here.” “I certainly have no desire to be in your way, gentlemen,” Anthony replied a little too eagerly. “And I would be most interested in seeing that contraption in front.” Anthony stepped outside, relieved to be free from that dull technical chatter and smoked, filled air. He looked towards the strange contraption that the assistants were working on, and while Anthony couldn’t make out the words, he could tell that the men were struggling to get the device to work. Perhaps the idea was simply impossible or perhaps the fates decided the time was not yet right for such a machine, but before Anthony could ascertain the cause for the men’s frustration a Corrish officer rode up, dismounted, and headed directly for Anthony. Reaching King's Harbour by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr “Monsieur Capitán Anthony Genaro?” the officer inquired. Anthony paused for a brief moment, contemplating how to respond. "Et bien, monsieur, je m'appelle Anthony Genaro, je suis un capitaine de frégate, mais je ne vois pas pourquoi vous vous tenez à m’insulter, sashez que je ne suis pas un simple lieutenant. Peut être dans votre langage, ‘capitaine’ est un titre approprié, mais dans le mien, il serait plutôt ‘commandant’,” replied Anthony knowing full well that it was unlikely the Corrish officer would understand half of it. And although he was supposed to behave, Anthony simply couldn’t resist the urge to bedevil the Corrie. “Vou set Anthony Genaro, oui?” the Corrie replied hesitantly. “Oui.” “Si vous pley, Monsieur Capitán, eh, jay un lettre pour you de,” the officer said, stumbling and becoming more frustrated as he went on. “Perhaps, mister officer, you would allow me to practice my Corrish?” Anthony interrupted in a compassionate tone. He had his fun with the poor officer and couldn’t help but feeling a little sorry for the young man. But more importantly he had no idea what the man was attempting to say. A quick look of relief flashed across the Corrie’s face. “Yes, sir. Certainly, sir. If you please, sir, I am here to deliver a letter to you from Colonial Governor Johnathan Cooke.” Reaching King's Harbour by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Anthony was surprised to hear this. He worked with Corries in the past, most recently while he commanded a joint anti-piracy squadron, but the name Cooke was unfamiliar to him. “Have I done something wrong, committed some offense?” he asked while he took the letter. “I do not know, sir.” Anthony took a quick look at the fine yet unfamiliar seal before opening the letter, the lieutenant standing at attention the whole time. Reading the letter, Anthony only became more confused and looked at the envelope to confirm that he was in fact the correct recipient. “But I do not even know your Governor-Captain. Are you quite certain this is correct?” Anthony asked the lieutenant. “Forgive me, sir, but I was simply ordered to deliver this letter to Captain Anthony Genaro of His Most Sacred Majesty’s Hired Ship Espirit Stephanique. I know nothing of the contents, but I would certainly convey any message you may have to my superiors, sir.” “No, no, that will not be necessary,” Anthony replied, looking at the letter once again. “I shall be most happy to attend.” “Yes, sir,” the lieutenant replied, remaining at attention. Anthony was about to return his gaze to the mechanical contraption when he realized the lieutenant was still standing there. “Is there something more, mister officer?” Anthony inquired. “No, sir.” Anthony looked at the officer with a quizzical expression before the officer continued. “Am I dismissed, sir?” “Ah, oui, of course, go, go mister officer.” The lieutenant gave a sharp salute that Anthony returned by slightly lifting the brim of his hat. After this, the lieutenant crisply turned, and remounted his horse before riding off. Oh well, Anthony thought to himself. This whole event was most confusing, but at least there was some comfort in the fact that at least one Corrie had a proper understanding of rank. Here are a few more pictures showing details of the build.

  21. I've decided it's about time I continue developing my naval character's story, and I'm very pleased with how the build turned out. As always, comments and criticism are welcome. The Inn by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Captain Anthony Genaro walked down the road distressed. Once again, the only letter waiting for him at the port admiral's office was from his brother. Nothing from the admiralty, no news of a command, and to make matters worse there was still no word on when the payroll would arrive. At this point, he just wanted to return to his room without any further disappointment, but as he turned one last corner before reaching his inn, he saw that wouldn't be the case. The Inn by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr “Captain Genaro!” Abigale Fisher shrieked, her bulky frame filling most of the door, when the young officer was a few steps away. “Do you have any idea what day it is?” “And a most good and holy day it is, no doubt,” the Captain replied, knowing full well what Abigale was after, but doing his best to avoid it. “Today marks six months, Captain, six months,” she continued, hands firmly planted on her hips, her stone-cold gaze unyielding. “Six months since I’ve seen a penny of rent out of you.” The Inn by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr “Good lord, has it really been that long? Well, I for one will be sure to write to the port admiral and complain about his inability to maintain a steady schedule for the payroll ship.” “Don’t you dare give me any of that today, Captain, I don’t want your jokes.” Anthony gulped as he began racking his brain for the right response. He could stare down a Ship of the Line in not more than a brig or be the first to board a galley of bloodthirsty corsairs, but none of that mattered now. “Well?” Abigale asked. “It’s just… well, you see times are tough for a poor officer on half pay,” Anthony meekly replied. “I’m barely scrapping by as is. But on my honor, as soon as the payroll arrives,” but Abigale interrupted him before he could finish. “Oh, good. I’m sure my creditors will be happy to take your good will and honor in lieu of gold. Oh, sure, I’m certain that’ll keep me out of debtors’ prison.” “But what would you have me do?” Anthony cried out, desperate for some way to pacify his landlady and get back to his room. “Surely your sword or medals would be worth a few month’s rent,” replied Abigale, her cold stare unchanged. “Why, an excellent idea, Mrs. Fisher. Let me just take a look in my trunk...” “Oh, no you don’t, Captain! I know you haven’t got anything in there!” Abigale exclaimed. “You’ve got a perfectly good medal on your hat and a perfectly good sword in your belt.” “Well, surely this can wait until tomorrow,” Anthony pleaded. “No!” “But it’s late! Surely you don’t intend to let me spend the night in the streets!” Abigale just stood in the doorway and stared at the captain. Then, without another word, she turned, entered the inn, and slammed the door shut, leaving Anthony alone, cursing his current situation. “Gen?” a familiar voice asked. “Anthony Genaro? By Zeus it is!” The Inn by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Anthony turned to the voice and immediately cheered up. “Paul Laforge, you old devil!” he exclaimed upon seeing his old shipmate. They served together as midshipmen in the peace and both were commissioned as lieutenants on the Mars during the Juniper War, but Anthony hadn't seen Paul for years. He immediately ran over and kissed each cheek in the proper Olean greeting. “How have you been? How’s Marie?” “Fine, both of us just fine, thank you,” Paul replied. “But it appears that you’ve seen better.” "Ah, it's nothing, just waiting for my next assignment," Anthony said. "But what's this? Don't tell me you've sold out?" "Alas, I'm afraid I have" Paul chuckled. "Half pay simply didn't suit Marie, but I was able to get one of the company's ships. Nothing like serving the Crown, but by Zeus do they pay well." "And it appears you ate most of it" Anthony said with a playful jab at his friend's increasing gut. "Well, Marie is quite a cook. Speaking of which, perhaps you could join us for dinner?" "I'd hate to impose..." "Come, come! I won't take no for an answer!" "Well, if you insist," Anthony replied, not requiring much encouragement to enjoy a free meal with his old friend. The Inn by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr
  22. The recent construction of Royal Arsenal of Astrapi has attracted more people from the old world to move to New Terra. The new-comers are full of spirit, for example, this young couple has opened a candy shop in the vicinity of the Arsenal, their patisserie is a great recomfort to the young cadets and soldiers who are thousands of miles away from their homeland. C&C are welcome!
  23. One of the more unusal exports from Isla del Diablo is the particularly potent venoms of the island's arachnid population. Of course, obtaining said venoms firstly requires finding the spiders, which means venturing out of Haven and into the dangerous wooded portions of the island. Quite a risk, but the hunter's patrons pay well... ...especially, of course, the House of Spiders.

Little do they know that they are about to be attacked...by pirates! Fortunately, not all is lost! The fortress fires its cannons! Or is it cannon? I can never tell when to put an "s" at the end of plural cannon(s). YOU SANK MY BATTLESHIP!!! We're not playing that game! This is BrickseasHammer 1.8K! And what's with these unpainted grey models? I didn't have enough time to finish them before we arrived here...wherever this place is... Ahem...Currently, at The Naval Academy wargame store in Bastion... Who's that? I'm the narrator. No, you're a fake wanna be writer who is too stupid to realize you suck. Er...moving on...Suddenly, Oleon reinforcements show up! Wait! What happened to my turn? You deployed, then I got to move and fire. And now I'm deploying my dreadnought, which can move and attack the turn it arrives. What?! How's that fair?! Here...you can have a yellow cheese slope to represent how cheesy and overpowered this unit is. My dreadnought fires it's flame attack on the nearest sloop. Meanwhile, my Dreadnought's sorceror hero captain casts a time warp spell on the sloop that was already on fire from my fortress attack. There's magic in this game?! And flame attacks?! And...er...the ship that got time warped...that's not a sloop...that's a Goliath class ship of the line with 84 cannon...or is it cannons? I was just using the sloop model. You're using a proxy model?!?! Hey, these models are expensive and I'm just a graduate student! Just be glad I didn't resort to using rocks and pebbles! Anyways, it got time warped and it's your only unit, so you lose a turn. Now, I summon a sea dragon which uses a freeze attack! Of course... And you've lost your last ship. Good game. Whatever. Hold on a second. Based on the previous post, weren't we supposed to be sailing somewhere so you can do some secret thing to win over that idiot, Alois? First, Alois is not an idiot! Second...that's true. I wonder why we stopped at Bastion to play this game? Because I felt like it. Aaaaand that is why you suck as a writer. The MOC for that story is even finished! You uploaded onto Flickr last month! And...er...Harriet, when did you grow a neckbeard? Comments and criticisms are all welcome!
  25. If you want to read the first part of my characters story, read the introduction post. "Log of Captain Lothario Fraunces, 28th of June, 618 Me and my brothers Jacobo and Alfie spend some days together in the city of Breshaun. Me and my brother Jacobo came to Breshaun on board of the Fluyt 'The Octopus'. Together with Alfie we enlisted again and had plans to reach the new world to the east, when some of the Octopus' crew members came to me. Crew members: "Lothario, the captain died last night. He was ill since we left Holders Rock but he did not want to tell anyone. We need a new captain and we know your skills on the seas and don't trust the old quartermaster Cedric. He is egocentric and is very stubborn. Lead us in our mutiny!" And so we went to the ship. I challenged Cedric to a duel for the captaincy. Our cutlasses almost broke with every strike. Cedric fought like a bull but his anger prohibited him to foresee my moves and I was on the winning hand, what I did not know was that Cedric companion was below deck, ready to fill me with lead through the hatch. The blast just missed my forehead and blew my hat away. The cheat came out of the hatch to finish the job, but he did not count on my brother Alfie. With one smooth move Alfie threw the cheat overboard: "Go irritate Neptune" - he said. How I already love this guy. The duel with Cedric however, continued. It was not long before I took the upper hand and with a few slashes and thrusts I had him on the ground. We put Cedric on a rowing boat back to Breshaun, The Octopus crew chose me as their new captain. We buried our old captain on an empty beach in LeBellan, said goodbye to the girls in the brothel, took in fresh supplies and headed to the new world. Jacobo (the new quartermaster) convinced the me and the crew to head to île D'Or, for glory, adventure and gold was lurking on that island. What more does one need to convince a bunch of Sea Rats? And so we went." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope you guys like my ship and the story. I checked the shipwright post for building tips and took my main motivation from the replica Dutch Fluyt 'de Batavia'. I will license her as a Class 5. My apologies for the bad photo-shopping, this is not my forte. The name derives from the bow spring: C&C is welcome.
