Ideas for new Lego themes! (Non-licensed)
dr_spock replied to The lego fan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
A trains of the world theme would be great for the train fans. -
You can also use 8866 motor with regular Power Functions AAA battery box and PF IR receiver. It is not necessary to have that old battery/RC base part. 8866 is not as strong as the 88002 but it is fine to use in short trains or a railcar.

GBC uses the 14mm balls. Those are 16.5mm. -

I remember 8866 and 88002 were both on LEGO S@H website. 8866 was cheaper so I ordered it. Turned out you need to have a Power Functions extension to connect power ot the motor. 88002 had the power cable built in.

Why is LEGO now being made in China?
dr_spock replied to 9v system's topic in General LEGO Discussion
LEGO may choose to sample test the properties of raw plastic material before using them. If they passed, then use them. If they failed, then send them back to the supplier and put them on notice. -
Your local public library may have 3D printing available for free or a small fee. Last summer I made some 13L thin Technic liftarms in 123D and printed 4 of them for $2 at the public library. It was PLA plastic and not ABS. I guess they want to be enviro-friendly. The printout seem to work fine as connecting rods to the LEGO driver wheels.

The LEGO Group takes civil actions against LEPIN

Interesting. I saw on the TV the founder of Alibaba meeting with Trump a few days ago. -
Welcome Matt. Friends and Technic is a fun combo.

Looks good if your goal is to use only parts from the 10233 Horizon Express set. I think some end handrails could be made from the set's flex tubings.

For lack of space, you could use a train elevator to move trains between levels. Since you're planning to automate your layout, it can be interesting to code something in C++ that automatically will break down a long train into smaller sections to go up/down the elevator and reassemble the train on the new level.

Powerful Crossbow- 80km/h
dr_spock replied to Epic Technic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Cool build. Technic is about function over form. -
How about Jar Jar Binks accidently causes a reactor core breach when he pressed the wrong button? Leia goes in to stop it and saves everyone but exposed herself to a fatal dose of radiation. Perhaps Snokes gets Kylo to kill his own mother to test his loyalty to the Dark Side. Many paths to death there are.

I use a waterproof, shockproof and freezeproof vacation camera in a holder made with Technic beams. It overlooks the top of the train cars and locomotive in front. I added some train weight to lower the center of gravity a bit.

Thanks. See Phred's reply. Thanks. We shalt see how she doeth in this MRCA. If she's captured, the new owners will have to like pink. No, I wouldn't be insulted. Now you got me thinking about that Cake By The Ocean song by DNCE. Thanks. Can't go wrong with free ships. The Price Is Right. What kind of tribute does Nepture accept? Thanks. One can't be too picky with free ships. Thanks. I was never good at being verbose. Thanks.
