  1. It looks like Disney has Narnia-ed the Nutcracker for 2018.
  2. Here's a wild idea, how about a action theme that is secondarily a tie-in for an original Lego video game, as opposed to the other way around. Think of the 2002 theme Island Xtreme Stunts, being a line of tie-in products for the videogame of the same name. Compared to the typical Traveler's Tales Lego games, with their arcade styled set storyline, this game would be more of a freestyled multiplayer adventure game, much like Overwatch or Destiny. The game would feature a plethora of playable heroes, who would all be battle-ready fusions of CMF archetypes. For instance, imagine characters like... Battle Leprechaun, Roller Derby Cyborg, Galactic Pizza Delivery Boy, Warthog Suit Guy (a.k.a. an aggressive take on the S12 Piggy Suit Guy), Pastry Chef Ninja (with Rolling pin nunchucks)... you get the idea. To start, there would probably be about five to six playsets and a collectable minifigure series to start as tie-in products for the game, with successive waves afterwards depending on how well the game sells. The CMS would be primarily made up of the various playable "fusion" heroes of the game, with most of the game's villains relegated to the theme's playsets.
  3. I don't know how Toys'R'Us will be faring throughout 2018 given its financial woes, but I wonder if we may see at least one 60th System/40th Minifigure anniversary Bricktober pack by the time that month next year rolls around.
  4. Here's Jang's review of the Lex Mech Takedown set. It's funny to see him freaking out over the build quality of the mech, but I too am equally impressed.
  5. The Nexo Knights 1×1 prism piece there works perfectly!
  6. That's an innovative reimagining you've done there, I really like it!
  7. On the same day, or eariler? How eerie.
  8. At least we now have a minifigure of him, but yeah, it's still strange we haven't seen any usage of those arms and legs beyond the Toy Story theme seven years on. He does look better in Dark Bluish Grey than Light Bluish Grey, but he really does need dual molded arms.
  9. How weird, Mike (the designer) says in that first video that their first rough concept for 2018's modular was for a automobile dealership, and I was just talking about that as a possible modular successor in the previous page of this topic.
  10. This seems to sort of explain why we now have our first comic based DC set with no inclusion of either Batman or Superman in 2018 (a.k.a. 76098).
  11. It looks pretty nice fleshed out! By the way, do you have any interior pictures of the lower and upper cockpit areas? Also, it's cool seeing those Deep Space Fighters once again.
  12. Wait, you weren't on that train yourself were you?
  13. Daymn, that's another great looking Batmobile you've done there! Even the Animated Series Batmobile looks good with those BvS door parts! Excellent work once again!
  14. Really? Well, I guess that must be necessary for the tile since otherwise it would perhaps have no clutch.
  15. How so? Sheerly incomprehensible size? Seriously though, I'm really not expecting Universal to merchandise this movie to toy companies, as it seemed to be more marketed to young adults instead of kids aged six to twelve. But, it seems like an opportunity for Steampunk themed sets for Lego, at least I wish.
  16. Same here, but the Icarus seems like the only thing from the entire franchise (original, Tim Burton remake, reboot trilogy) that would make for worthy set material. Now I don't know if this still stands after Disney's acquirement of Fox, but a fourth film in the reboot trilogy was announced just before the release of War for the Planet of the Apes; so, knowing Disney, perhaps they would want to tame down the nature of the fourth installment to make the movie more merchandisable? I absolutely wouldn't want that for the next one, but I sort of can see that happening. If Disney hypothetically wanted to make the franchise merchandisable, it would be better if they rebooted the franchise for a fourth time, and leave Caesar's saga unscathed.
  17. I love both of Superman's expressions in the Anniversary set, especially the sheepish one. For that matter, Hawkgirl's two expressions are great too, and make for a versatile flesh toned female head. Though I was expecting it, I am glad they did give Jor-El his "hope" family crest on his torso print; but other than that, the rest of the printing looks awfully void. It seems like he needed something more for detail. I'm also excited to see what people will end up doing with Jor's recolored armor piece for other figures.
  18. That's a great design! It just looks tailor made to become a CMF, an archetype I'm surprised we haven't seen yet.
  19. It will certainly be interesting to see what patterns or mosaics people will be able to do with those new diamond shaped "shard" tiles.

  21. I don't know if Universal Pictures would at all be interested in merchandising this, but since Lego has a partnership with the studios through the Jurassic World license, wouldn't it be cool to see sets done for this movie?
  22. Too bad regarding the fate of the Retro Space Hero, but you just knew that was going to happen. Well, nonetheless, I definitely prefer the four finalists in this game over the four in the last one.
  23. A time travel theme would be a good way to shoehorn historical archetypes that otherwise would not be seen outside of the Collectable Minifigure line, and such an action theme could be quite versatile with much room for evolution and change. I just wouldn't want it to resemble Time Cruisers/Time Twisters too much, maybe only with some throwbacks/callbacks to the theme for homage's sake. It was Lego's first and only time travel theme after all.
  24. The Lego Ninjago Movie and Kong: Skull Island. Actually, watching the Ninjago movie was sad, because it seemed like it could have been a great movie, but instead fell victim to heavy rewriting and editing. The film just could have been an awesome homage to Japanese cinema, if it weren't for its clobbered end result. What's really sad actually, is that my favorite parts of the film were its vintage, Toho styled opening credits, and its instruction manual styled end credits. Kong: Skull Island on the other hand, wasn't a bad film, I just didn't like Kong's monolithic, godlike portrayal in this movie, as he didn't get much screen time let alone any character development unlike Peter Jackson's Kong. And, for all the complaints about the run time of Peter Jackson's King Kong, at least it felt more like an epic, as opposed to an unforgettably quick action flick that Skull Island was.
  25. Hmm, I'd like to see how that would look. It's cool to see that helmet made use of after all these years. Well, I hope there's still something on the horizon, but we do already know of a few new and/or returning themes for next year; but unfortunately, they're all licensed ones with the exception of a still unconfirmed in-house "constraction" theme.
