  1. The Deep Space Explorer is my latest submission to the Bricklink Designer Program Series 10. The design, colors, and parts used are based on Classic Space sets, mostly up to 1987. This ship is comprised of 21 separate components that assemble into 1 main ship or can be assembled into multiple ships and land bases, all using the original connection style from Classic Space of Modified Bricks with Technic pins and Technic Bricks. You can support this submission through the link: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-10/4036/Deep-Space-Explorer
  2. Hi all! I've finally finished a MOC that I've work on, on and off, for years. It's a redux of the Blacktron Renegade. Here's the original: I wanted to keep the overall design pretty much the same. How did I do? I named it Betrayer because a Renegade is essentially a traitor or deserter. I thought Betrayer sounded supremely evil while being synonymous with the original name. One thing that excited me a lot was using the new yellow triangle tiles to make a brick-built Blacktron logo. And I wanted to keep the original gimmick where the command ship could detach from the front, as well as the two side ships. The command ship has hidden guns! One thing that always bugged me about the original was that after you removed the command ship, you were left with the butt-end of a space ship without anything to control it. I guess you had to pretend it was computer or AI controlled at that point. Like a robot. That gave me an idea. Why not make it transform into an actual robot? I hope you like it!
  3. Based on the Lego Road Show large rocket display, this 4 level base has 4 vehicle garages on the lower level, 4 Spacehip hangars on the top level, and a 2 story high airlock rooms on the mid section. The mid section is divided on 8 rooms on 2 levels which can be used as barracs, sickbays, labs, communication centers. At the center of the top level, is a launch silo with a manned rocket. 4300+ pieces, all Classic Space parts. More images here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1421271881962817 link Happy Base-ember!
  4. Hi all. I don't think I've posted something in this sub-forum before, but here is a MOC I made last September for our monthly LUG build challenge, the theme was Futuristic. And there is nothing more futuristic than Futuron! Problem in Experimental Reactor #3 "Those crazy Futuron Scientists and their Experimental Reactors will be the death of us all!" - Unknown Classic Space Engineer Problem In Experimental Reactor #3 Photo1 by Magma Xenoliths, on Flickr Problem In Experimental Reactor #3 Photo2 by Magma Xenoliths, on Flickr Problem in Experimental Reactor #3 Photo3 by Magma Xenoliths, on Flickr I really enjoyed building this one - Classic Space/Futuron was my favourite as a kid. I'd been impressed with someone's spaceship MOC that used Electro-Luminescent wire for a lighting effects and bought some of it to try out for myself. I also had a bunch of trans-blue pieces from buying several Space Police 3 main ships and sooner or later was going to do a Futuron MOC - this reactor was the result. The EL wire actually spirals up in a helix through the middle of the tower, which may not be obvious from photos. The wire itself fits almost perfectly into a 1x1 plate with clip piece, so I just connected it at each level on different sides to keep it in position. The reactor "wall" and the observation room are inspired by pictures I'd seen of early atomic reactors - and maybe a bit of The China Syndrome movie too. And obviously Classic Space folk are keeping an eye on these Futuron engineers and their strange experimental technology.... ;-) Thanks for looking!
  5. Headcanon says, this is a Distant Sky Survey team. These guys are the third line of space exploration, dispatched wherever long-range scanners and robot probes discover something that needs human eyes on the scene. The ship is unarmed, I think of those pokey bits in front as parts of the hyperdrive system. All the greebling is supposed to be sensors and, hopefully, enough stealth gear to keep the ship out of trouble. There's an opening ramp, and the roof's designed to come off. Interior is a mess of equipment and stale coffee cups. Behind the scanner operator's station, there's just enough cargo space for a little rack holding two carbines and a spare lifesupport pack, and a box for, apparently, the severed head of some alien. I've been meaning to build these guys a proper ship for a while, and finally got around to it..thanks for looking!
  6. Hello, this Space Tank is a "small class" unit inspired by WWI English tank Mark I. Colors and style are clearly based on LEGO Classic Space series. Named "Blue Bull" due to the stocky shape, it's equipped with a huge long-range gun and with a little gun machine right below the rotating turret. I particularly like the loader's hatch and the details featured both on the turret and the side. The crew is composed by 3 crewmen: the commander, the driver and the gunner. Here the Tank is at the maintenance hangar where the staff is taking care of it after a moon mission. Below the Space Tank in plain sight Even if Classic Space is not my comfort zone of building, and some friends of mine were surprised seeing this new build, I like this theme since I was a little boy. Moreover having in stock a lot of CS pieces pushed me to build the tank and the space hangar. It has been really funny building this MOC and for sure won't be alone for a long time. The forklift is based on Alban Nanty one. More pics and info on my flickr photostream. All the best and happy building! Andrea - Norton74
  7. I've been building speeder bikes based on these trike bodies for a little while, and finally found some use for all the leftover front forks. Space unicycle because of course. That little red bit in back is supposed to be a jump jet, because the design is entirely too stable without it. There's also a Blacktron version. Slightly larger, blacker, more armed, it's all very exciting.
  8. I was inspired to create this model from the 2018 Jurassic World set 75930, Indoraptor Rampage at Lockwood Estate, with some design cues from set 10228, Haunted House, although in blue and white with trans yellow glass. The dollhouse-style model was built from the set pictures and from features from the movie itself, with the fall-apart play features removed and opening rear sections added to match the front half. The model also features a round "time window" for Benny to experiment with in his spare time. As usual, this classic space logo printed piece goes where this 4 x 2 slope is, just below the front balcony and right above the front door. The house without any figures, cars, or giant robots. The very large satellite dish on the roof is so Benny can communicate with the Classic Space fleet in any weather: rain, sunshine, snow, solar wind-storm, or nuclear fallout. Whatever the weather, Benny gets through! The rear of the mansion features a conservatory and the chimney flue, along with a back door and rear porch light. The house folds apart, with the two rear sections opening in quarters up to 90 degrees, while the conservatory opens up to 180 to allow for figure placement. (Up to five Technic pins can hold the model shut at key points for transportation with ease and handling with little fragility.) The front half on the found floor features the entry hall, TV room with couch and dining room. The second floor features the custom-printed super computer (un-printed here in LDD) and Benny's bedroom. The uppermost two floors features the science lab, with the time window and several other science experiments. Here is the huge 1970's super computer LL9000 (custom printed part) which takes up a sizable amount of space on the second level wall just above the entry hall. The right rear quarter features the conservatory and some furniture on the second and third floors, plus the dining room on the first floor. This section also has stairs from first to second floors, plus a '80's video game cabinet (Astro Nut, of course!) on the second floor. The left rear quarter features the fireplace and the stairs to the third floor, plus a miniature space monorail layout and a TV with VCR. This is Benny the 1980-something space guy's 1979 Moonraker made by Neptune Auto Group. The engine has been upgraded from a gasoline chugging-monster into a more environmentally-friendly Hydrogen-3 Fusion engine to turn it into a modern mechanical beast with a retro exterior. Benny added bigger tires to the car to get it over the craters of the small moon where Benny was stationed. The car also has a spare tire located on the opening trunk. The roof is removable, and the three seats can fit figures with air-tanks and helmets. The doors open in the front normally, but in the rear they open in a reversed pattern to create a wider opening. Real life version The building as it sits right now, before it gets torn apart to create the version seen in the first part above. Most of it's parts will be donated to create the mansion. As always, comments, questions, suggestions, and complaints are welcome!
  9. Do you agree with this idea or not?It will be nice from LEGO to do that.
  10. Y-Wings are nice, I've wanted to build one for a while, so I did. I hope you found this story exciting. optional astromech attachment:
  11. Hi, This topic is dedicated to an awesome classic space build "LL928 Comes Home" MOC by Wolf Leews (/instruct. by Jeff McClain). I've just found some days ago on the net. ANd baang.. I want to build it to my kid!!! I was love at first sight. This base is cool, not too big, you can handle, appropriate size for a small exploration outpost and AWESOME!!!! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/e171cf44-c810-4f03-8e24-6d51e5a9bcfd https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-1865/wolf.leews/ll928-comes-home-spaceship/#bi Unfortunately the dll or instructions not available anymore... Can someone help us? Please share the LXF files or instructions with us. This awesome craft was here also: THANKX!!!!
  12. Here is my Febrovery entry for this year. I was mostly inspired by late Classic Space with the colour scheme and set 1580.
  13. Apologies if this has already been posted and I somehow missed it or if posting a link to YouTube is verboten, but this video of every Classic Space set is really impressive! The filming isn't great but the collection is. I don't have anything to do with the collector, the interviewer or the event. As someone who has fond memories of the earliest Classic Space sets and recreated 6927 All-Terrain Vehicle in 2014 (see here, here, here and here), I just thought the video was super cool.
  14. I can't find it anymore but I saw someone's Classic Space Batman and really liked it. I decided to build a Batwing to fit with the figure. It was done quickly so it doesn't have moving wings of flick missiles or anything.

  16. Here's a little vehicle I built for FebRovery 2017, in the style of Classic Space. https://www.flickr.com/photos/rva-lug/33041658761/
  17. I used waterslide decal for the logo (bad quality). I'll get better parts to improve this build and for the other Spacedudez.
  18. Another reveal from my Sydney Brick Show CS layout, the LL351 Conquest. The LL351 Conquest is the flagship of the CS fleet. Equipped with four hyper-drive engines the LL351 is capable of exploring the furthest reaches of the galaxy. With plenty of weaponry the Conquest is able to defend itself with ease and provide protection for other ships in the CS fleet. In addition to the ships four crew members there is also a planetary scooter that can be launched from the ship for short range reconnaissance missions.
  19. For this year's Sydney Brick Show at the end of April I'm doing a classic space layout. This is one of the vehicles that will be on display. P.M.R. - Planetary Mining Rover The Planetary Mining Rover is a mass produced rover used extensively throughout the galaxy. The equipped dual drilling arms are capable of breaking through some of the toughest materials known to man. A cargo compartment in the rear of the rover enables the P.M.R. to transport materials back to base. I hope to get some pictures of some of the other vehicles online over the next few weeks.
  20. I've been practicing using Stud.io by following instructions on Peeron to build official sets, and then making some renders. I'm starting with Classic Space and plan to work my way through the themes in the order they were released, making a few sets each for everything from Classic Space to UFO. Click here to see all my official set renders together on Bricksafe. I'm interested in improving the quality of my renders, and would love to receive any critique you might have. I absolutely plan to make more renders and post them here. If anyone would like me to skip ahead and render a specific Space set, feel free to ask! (Spoilers because renders are fairly large) 497-1: Galaxy Explorer 1498-1: Spy-Bot Thanks for taking a look!
  21. Hi All, I've finally finished all my classic space builds and turned them into the following layout. Tregatis VI Mining Operation Tregatis VI is a uninhabited planet located in the Pegasus galaxy. The CS explorers discovered the planet contains a rare mineral that has great potential as an energy source. They have set up a mining operation on the planet to extract the ore and ship it back to earth for refining. More pictures of the layout here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/brickknight/albums/72157679447551513 If you are interested in just the ships and vehicles you can find these here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/brickknight/albums/72157672326318882 Hope you enjoy. Thanks.
  22. Here is the original Ship: Here is the mk2 version: And here: From underneath:
  23. Hi all, Thought I'd share my "Nexo Space" scene. I built it a couple of months ago for New Elementary's ongoing "Nexogon" parts festival. True or not, I'd read news that the 'Lego Movie Sequel' was going to be set in space... I surmised that this would therefore be Benny's Space, Classic Space the joyous 'space' of my childhood. The Hab/Lab/Base was a structure I'd adapted from a set of spaceships I'd built as my first submission. I was way too late for Febrovery, but what kind of space scene would it be without a rover of some sort? ...and then there was the question of Benny. He'd need a spaceship! I really do hope that 'The Lego Movie Sequel' is going to be set in Benny's Space, and that the sets include more Classic Space inspired designs for vehicles... new printed classic space logos and trans yellow windscreens please! Also, New Spacemen minifigures in other colours!
  24. I am posting my review of the unloved Lego 1593 in hopes of generating a discussion/debate about the merits (or lack thereof) of this set. Please post your comments. There is no wrong side to take. Nobody's Favorite But Mine I previously reviewed this set and now my feelings about it have solidified, as if I added fiber to my diet. I know it is a bizarre and ungainly craft, but it looks awesome sitting next to the 6842 aka Small Space Shuttle Craft aka Inspection Spacecraft (I thought it was Shuttle Craft) and the 6929 aka Starfleet Voyager aka Starfleet Voyager. Is anyone else confused by the Lego Group's naming conventions across multiple languages? In this case, they decided it was easier not to name it at all, but I digress. I enclosed the gaps in the upper cockpit with trans dark blue 1x4 bricks, which makes a world of difference. The 1593 is no weirder than other sets (I'm talking to you, Robot Command Center) and the play value is high based on the docking rover and the previously mentioned (in another review) "space age washing machine". The set works decently if you compare it to its donor sets from 1981 and 1982, instead of to its actual contemporary, the mighty 6980 Galaxy Commander (the pinnacle of Lego technology in 1983). Although routinely critiqued as the worst possible combination of its component parts, I respectfully disagree, as you will soon see below, and argue that the 1593 is a underrated gem two years in the making. The fact that large quantities of alcohol and/or the future designers of the Pontiac Aztek were likely involved is beside the point. So is the fact that the Classic Space line had moved past its color scheme, leaving it trapped in 1981. Or the fact that it is ugly. I didn't know this set existed when I was a kid, but am confident I would have loved it. What does that say about me? I enjoyed piecing it together from spare parts, but I decided I wanted the original directions, so I paid too much for a complete set, minus the box, unfortunately. All of the bad reviews from the web, to include this site, have given the 1593 a massive inferiority complex and incredibly low self esteem, so I intend to do something about it. Think about how you would feel if you were constantly being told you were the worst person in the world...ever. Imagine if you were a movie worse than Time Bandits (That "Time Bandits" set that was ranked higher, I mean less low, than this one in another review looks atrocious, by the way. I think he meant the Time Cruisers Time Tunnelator, but Time Bandits was a terrible movie, strengthening my analogy). Imagine if the only way to identify you was with a few numbers, like a prison inmate because your parents didn't care enough to name you (The Persil literature described the 1593 as "Delta Spacecraft with Survey Vehicle..." which sounds very Legoland Classic Spacey, but didn't stick). Or if you were advertised on the back of a laundry detergent box for L9.95 (About $13.00 in U.S currency) when the Starfleet Voyager went for $15.00. Imagine if you were "only available in Europe" (Canada too??) and never given a chance to travel to one of the largest Lego markets in the world and that the members of that market didn't even know about you until relatively recently. Does this sound like a pleasant existence? Welcome to the 1593’s world… To help heal my set’s wounded psyche and enable it to realize that it is beautiful on the inside, I am going to use my extra parts to create a variation of this alternate build: Now that is hideous. I love it. Uh-oh, here we go again... For those of you who bash the 1593, I’m not saying you are wrong, but go build something! That is the beauty of Lego, if you don't like it, make it into something you do like. I propose the below picture as one option to remedy your heartburn with this set. (Again, the digestive system analogies). At the risk of offending some readers, an even more obvious solution is not to buy the set in the first place if you feel negatively about it. For the 1 to 2 other people out there, aside from me, who love this set, the best way to describe it is "business in the front, party in the back". As such, I humbly complete my review of the Legoland 1593 Space Mullet. Now it has a proper name.
  25. S.H.A.D.O. maintenance bay With a large fleet of spaceships and many ground units like the APC mobile, the S.H.A.D.O.* agency needs a modern and well equipped bay. My latest build is the S.H.A.D.O. maintenance bay where the agency's mechanics and engineers can fix and re-fit the Interceptors and possibly the ground units. The facility is full of details and it features also a service vehicle, a forklift and an hand pallet truck. Under the wing an operator is welding a support and please take a look at the sparks A little workbench and the column drill press are positioned on the right. A spare nuclear missile is ready to be loaded. Flickr gallery. Thanks for stopping by. *SHADO (an acronym for Supreme Headquarters, Alien Defence Organisation) is a secret, high-technology international agency established to defend Earth and humanity against the mysterious aliens. SHADO was the main subject of UFO, the popular '70 British television science fiction series about an alien invasion of Earth.
