The Icarus - Planet of the Apes - LEGO Ideas
Digger of Bricks replied to erganic_AJ's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Best of luck to you, especially now since Disney has the franchise under their belt after the Fox acquisition. But like @M2m said, I think the franchise (both original and current reboot) isn't kid friendly enough to be considered. If there was only one thing I'd like to see from such a hypothetical licensed partnership though, it would be just a single promotional minifigure of Andy Serkis's Caesar from the reboot trilogy. That or a life-sized brick built bust of him. -
He's okay, but I'm not that super fond of the figure compared to other Space themed CMFs. Like I had initially mentioned, my top three favorite Space themed CMFs are the S17 Retro Space Hero (obviously), the S6 Intergalactic Girl (essentially a Classic Spacewoman in pink), and the S7 Galaxy Patrol (who's Earth Blue, Dark Bluish Grey, and Orange visored color scheme make him a sort of gritty take on a Classic Spaceman). Kind of maybe? He really does though slot more under the all the costumed CMFs, which are my least favorite type of CMF. But, the Rocket Boy does have that great Classic Space LBG torso, which does make him a nice figure in that respect. I wouldn't be as harsh on costumed CMFs if they all came with some useful new torso print or accessory.

Minifigs of 40 Years Advent Calendar 2017 - LDD MOC

Paradisa huh? Since you seemed to be doing four designs per theme, I was wondering what the next one would be. -
This one is just the coolest, with its color scheme of Dark Purple, Sand Purple, Light Bluish Grey, and Trans. Green. I also really like the rear thruster shot on this one too!

Alongside the S7 Galaxy Patrol, those two are the CMS line's best Space themed CMFs so far! I feel thought that in this quarter final, the S17 Retro Space Hero will end up losing to the S10 Roman Commander, as historical CMFs seem to fare better in these games.

An Ice Age theme could be interesting, and perhaps Lego would be considerate enough to make hypothetical new molds for Manny and Diego versatile enough to be reprinted into normal Woolly Mammoth and Saber-Tooth Cat variants, after the fact that is. -
If we were to see a locomotive/railcar set from any current "big bang" themes, I would want to see either the king's carriage monorail said to be seen the Nexo Knights TV show, or the suspended monorail seen in The Lego Ninjago Movie. Is it an all new torso print?

The micro rendition of the LL928 in this set isn't bad, but it certainly doesn't compare to the one we saw in that 2015 DK Visual History book. Brickset - 11910 Micro-Scale Space Cruiser -

Yes, but to clarify, I was more saying that I wish we would currently see more original sci-fi movies come from Hollywood in the same way the videogame industry has done. Many of the videogame industry's best selling franchises aren't media tie-ins to some other preexisting franchise.* You see, the three franchises that I mentioned in my original post (Fallout, BioShock, Wolfenstein) all fall into dystopian/post-apocalyptic alternate historical genres, which are very different takes on your usual present day projected dystopias that we typically see in Hollywood films, and something that would be interesting to see be tackled cinematically. *The Batman Arkham series is one particular exception though. I guess even cinematically, that would still be the best approach to the plot for an adaptation. Now the one thing I would NOT want to see carried over to a cinematic adaptation is all the absurd, comically graphic blood and gore that can be such a trademark of these games. I'm not necessarily saying that it would be taken down to a PG rated level, only to a more realistic, modest level.

What old themes should lego bring back?
Digger of Bricks replied to Trekkie99's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Indeed, and actually, those two particular themes sort of can be considered as distant successors to the original Adventurers theme. They both somewhat share similar qualities, though not as closely as the prior year's Pharaoh's Quest theme. Yes, as long as it followed a archetypical familiarity and didn't fall into a foreign, never-before-seen realm. Maybe, if you simply considered the theme as a junior-ized version of Town with anthropomorphic animals. -

Fantastic Beasts 2018 - Speculation & Future Set Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Ookami's topic in LEGO Licensed
Sure, the Marvel side of things is definitely an inevitable given, and unfortunately the only aspect of this deal that people keep talking about. Come to think of it though, regarding the Avatar franchise, I wonder if Lego might not do an Avatar theme if there's a possibility that marketers might consider it too similar to the Star Wars franchise. I know they may seem dissimilar, but in the same way Lego won't seemingly have a in-house Space theme run alongside the Star Wars theme, Lego may consider Avatar similar to Star Wars only because they both are set on worlds other than Earth. -

Digger of Bricks replied to Ookami's topic in LEGO Licensed
Now that Disney has officially acquired Fox, what do you think will be the most inevitable licensed merchandise partnerships for Lego that will stem from this? Personally, I think James Cameron's Avatar is the most likely by the time the sequels roll out, but I know many may be hoping that the Simpsons will be revived as a result. For me, I would not be looking forward to that latter possibility if that were to happen. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Oooh, that could be awesome! While the Miami Beach, Streamlined Moderne style of the Downtown Diner has left a slight division amongst fans, I can't see there being much dislike for a Art Nouveau styled modular. Here's a few architectural examples from Pinterest that could serve as appropriate scaled inspiration. Also, there is this one Ideas project that is still active based upon a Paris Metro entrance that is most ornate. I don't know if Lego would ever accept such a project if it passed the 10K mark, but it's still cool nonetheless. LEGO Ideas - Art Nouveau Metro Entrance -

You know, what if the theme's main characters had actually undergone these changes ahead of time for The Lego Movie sequel, as in that their appearances are going to be reflective of their yet-to-be announced voice actresses. It is speculated that minidoll characters will be playing a big roll in the sequel based upon what we've heard about it so far. Just a thought.

Future Marvel Superheroes Rumors & Speculation

According to this article, the burgeoning Fox/Disney acquisition deal will not automatically mean that Disney will also be acquiring rights to the Fantastic Four. Screen Rant - Disney's Fox Acquisition Could Leave The Fantastic Four Behind -
It's the storylines of many modern videogames that fascinate me, and since I'm not a videogame guy, I much rather see these narratives done as films, just as long as they were done right. It's funny, but I almost feel that the videogame industry has become an outlet for a multitude of original storylines that otherwise would be turned down by Hollywood in favor of much more familiar fare. Much of what comes from Hollywood tentpole films these days are sequels, comic book adaptions, YA novel adaptions, reboots/remakes, and other billings that Hollywood feels has enough familar stability to greenlight for production. I'm not saying that many videogames were actually rejected movie pitches, but some storylines seem like they were meant for the big screen. The Uncharted adaptation is now on a roll currently, with Tom Holland (a.k.a. MCU Spidey) in the lead roll for an origin story. And yeah, I'm interested too see how that's going to turn out too. Speaking of origin stories, that's how I'd like to see a BioShock movie done, as a story focusing on the rise and fall of the city of Rapture. Such a film could be a very heavy, but stylish, political commentary drama.
