  1. Well, it's that time of year again and with the new 60508 Police Train Heist just leaked, I suppose it's time to start this thread. Here's the usual list of recent years' sets - 2019-2021 have been removed as all sets from these years have now been retired. Standard Train Sets 2026 60506 Beachside Tram 60508 Police Train Heist 60509 Harbour Freight Train 60511 Retro Steam Train 2025 10361 Holiday Express Train 60470 Explorers' Arctic Polar Express Train 60469 Central Train Station 2024 60423 Downtown Streetcar & Station 2023 21344 Orient Express 76423 Hogwarts Express & Hogsmeade Station 2022 60335 Train Station 60336 Freight Train 60337 Express Passenger Train 76405 Hogwarts Express Collector's Edition 10308 Holiday Main Street (trolley/tram) 2018 75955 Hogwarts Express 60197 Passenger Train 60198 Cargo Train 60205 Tracks 60238 Switch Tracks Sets in bold are those confirmed for 2026 Sets with a strikethrough have been retired Sets in italics are ones expected to be retired in 2026. Let me know if I've missed any! Bricklink Designer Program Train Sets At least one train set is confirmed in the Bricklink Designer Program, but that has its own thread elsewhere in the Train Tech. Discuss below, and as usual @JopieK maybe pin the thread?
  2. Here's the thread for any questions, concerns, comments or discussion on the Action and Adventure Themes Forum itself. Got a review or MOC you want added to the index? Want to ask a question on Past, Present or Future Action and Adventure Themes? Would you like to nominate someone for a tag for a great achievement? Have a query on if your MOC belongs in this subforum? Ask, comment and discuss all that here.
  3. Today I had to move some of my LEGO Technic display shelves around, this lead to me doing a rearrange of them. While doing this, I started to compare what I have on display and the ratio of each type. A Models = 25% C Models = 45% MOCS = 30% Two years ago, it would have been 80% A models, this just shows how much my focus has changed, this is largely due to the lower quality of the A models. What is your ratio of each type?
  4. Good day! Sometimes I make MOCs that don't deserve a topic, or simply have WIP concepts that I don't publish . This will serve as a place where I post my WIP creations that may end being a MOC , and small sized MOCs which are too simple to post a video or create a topic.
  5. Recently I have been thinking about why Lego is so popular as a brand. It has so many themes and licenses underneath its belt. It lead me to wonder why is the theme so popular? Now many can say that it is because of the "nostalgia" of being a kid, and remembering of more simple times. It could also be because of the licenses that it holds, and what memories they hold for more adult fans. The simplicity could be another aspect that people enjoy, and the amount of imaginative play and experience that it holds for the people. Now these days though, it seems video games are where children attention is going to. Minecraft possibly being the largest of these, think about it though. A parent can buy their child Minecraft for around $23. This would give the child unlimited play, and best of all the parents save money. Why should a parent buy their kid a toy that they will forget about in a week, when the child can create their own world in their computers. It the begs another question. Where is the future of this beloved toy? It seems as though the adult market for these toys is increasing and could potentially dominate the market, taking kids over. Then eventually the adults will start to "go", and that leaves the company in a weird position. Do you see Lego declining in 10, 20, or even 50 years? Hopefully I can get some good responses out of this and just see, what makes the toy so great and where it will go in the future.
  6. http://www.hollywood...na-jones-875794 You haven't heard this? What, are you living under a rock? So a fifth Indiana Jones movie has been announced. Steven Spielberg will be returning as director, and Harrison Ford will be returning as the titular archeologist. Discuss!
  7. I am working on my next MOC ideas and after looking at the new roller coaster set, I am toying with the idea of creating a mobile trailer hauled version that is even bigger than my T&H ride, although this time maybe not a one armed version, but more in line with a “built from parts hauled on a trailer” version. If you have ever seen the old “Wild Mouse” coaster ride you understand where I am coming from. This ride used slightly undersized cars and had 2 riders, one per car, with 2 cars per train. It was not very fast, it was more a “twist your head off” ride that used tight 180 turns without banking as the thrill and it makes it feel like the track is ending just as you take the turn. The track sections and size of the cars make the new roller coaster elements perfect for a Wild Mouse ride scaled to Technic figures. Anyone think I am crazy?
  8. Well, the first poster for The Lego Movie 2 has officially been unveiled. Now, it could be just me, but those proportions don't look look like that of a minifigure. They seem far more reminiscent of a mini-doll. I'm also noticing that several of the main characters are getting appearance changes - Wyldstyle has new goggles molded into her hair, as well as what looks like a scarf and bow combination, while Batman has shoulder pads that look like they're made out of car wheels, and . . I have no idea what's going on with Unikitty. Also, Metalbeard look so like he's completely differently built; more streamlined and less bulky, so that'll be cool to see. I hear we're getting our first trailer tomorrow. Hopefully we'll find out whether mini-dolls are indeed the antagonists then.
  9. Invitations were mailed posthaste to several members of the Eurobricks community. Only a few would answer the call to travel to the Mad Monster Mansion for Kintobor's first annual Costume Party. Food and music were promised, as was a good time for all who attended, so long as you were in costume. However, Mad Monster Mansion was no ordinary place: rumours abound of ghosts and ghouls haunting the decrypted manor, as well as a fortune in gold. Needless to say, tonight would be most interesting... -Players- Bride of Dracula, costumed by Lady K Dr. Frankenstein, costumed by Tariq j Dracula, costumed by Rider Raider Frankenstein's Rocker, costumed by LegoRacer1 Gorgonzola, costumed by fhomess Maws, costumed by mediumsnowman The Mutant Fly, costumed by Steamdemon The Mummy, costumed by Actor Builder The Swamp Creature, costumed by KotZ The Werewolf, costumed by LegoMonorailFan) Wicked Witch, costumed by Lord Duvors Zombie Bride, costumed by Khscarymovie4 Zombie Groom, costumed by Forresto Zombie Cheerleader, costumed by jluck --- Rules (These are 95% the same as the EB standard; deviations from the normal EB rules are struck-through) (Also, thanks Def. I'm stealing your rules.) 1. Each player will be given a character to play, who will be aligned with either the Town or the Scum. To win the game, the Town must kill off all the Scum, while the Scum needs to outnumber the Town. Third-party (neutral) characters have their own win conditions as outlined in their roles. 2. Each day you will be able to vote to lynch a player. Voting is mandatory. Voting should be done in the following format; Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format; Unvote: Character (Player). No other format will be accepted. A majority vote is required to lynch a player. Failure to vote will incur a vote penalty the following game day. 3. A game day will last a maximum of 72 hours. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. The day will end when a majority vote has been reached after 72 hours. After the day has been concluded, a night stage will commence, which will last 48 hours. Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 20 hours of the night stage. 3.5. Players may not target the same player two nights in a row, and may not target themselves. 4. The alignment of lynched players, as well as those that died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the next day. 5. You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to or from you in PM with the game host, or in PM with any other players. This includes all the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. 6. Do not play the game outside the thread. Similarly, do not post out of character inside the thread. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread or via PM with other players. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game. 7. If you are dead, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any of the players. Any information you had becomes void, and may not be passed on. 8. You may not edit your posts. 9. You must post in every day thread. 10. If you encounter a problem or have a question, please contact the host via PM 11. Violation of the above rules will result in a 5 vote penalty vote penalty per every 4 living players against you, and death on your second offence. --- Ugh, apparently I managed to get this thing to go up earlier than anticipated... Please ensure that you've confirmed your involvement in the game in this thread by posting here. You've got 48 hours to do so. Also, just so we're all clear: this is a game of Mafia with images done in Lego. The essence of play is Mafia. Roleplaying is allowed, but ultimately this is a game of Mafia. I'll lend a helping hand as we progress through the game, so don't worry if you're a little nervous. Normally there's more new players, but I'll have some advice to help you along the way for those who are playing their first Mafia School. As my first piece of advice, never reveal your role in the Confirmation thread. You're looking to get picked off easily. Just relax and interact with your fellow players before the game begins. Also, please put your character icon either in your signature or as your icon until you are eliminated from the game or the game is over. It'll help players recognize you, and helps add to the atmosphere of the game! PMs are heading out now!
  10. Since BrickHeadz are really hitting it off this year and with the release of Lego’s fourth cinematic movie next year, you can almost guarantee another year of BrickHeadz. Which characters are you expecting from TLM2 theme? What about other themes? Potentially Overwatch BrickHeadz?...
  11. Pop-Up Book was approved and will be become an official LEGO set!
  12. I notice there is less resistance against using non-Lego solutions in this board than in the past. In a recent topic about pulleys for a crane, http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/150151-heavy-lift-crane-boom-pulley-design-will-pay-for-ip/, at least three different people suggest modding pulleys by changing the axle hole, while the same problem can be easily solved by putting the wheels on a bar instead of an axle. In a recent topic about turntables, http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/149965-alternative-turntables/, the first suggestions are to use AFOL custom part designs. This is suggested before anyone even thinks about how this can be done in Lego. In http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/148319-little-8865-my-tribute-to-40-years-of-technic, someone built a miniature verson of 8865 using only the springs from the shock absorber parts and the first 20 replies made no mention of that specific point. (What speaks in favor of the builder though, is that he provided an alternative solution using rubber bands.) I thought this was a forum about Lego, where people use Lego pieces to solve problems, without "cheating". I remembered the days where if you used a modified piece your MOC wasn't even considered a Lego model by many people. Nowadays, there's hardly mention on this and it sometimes feels that I'm the only person here that still cares, that can't appreciate a model if the builder copped out somewhere. My rule still is, If you can't do it in Lego, then you can't do it. And a model that doesn't do it is better to me than a model that does it by cheating. After all, if you're allowing A, then why not allow B, and then C, all the way to Z and if that happens, what are we even doing? I understand 3D printing has something to do with it, but isn't the whole sport that you have a limited set of pieces that you'll have to do with, and that that means that some things can't be done? Isn't that the whole idea? I mean, if everything can be done, where's the achievement in doing it? Having done my bit of a rant, I am curious to see how others are seeing this. Have others also noticed a trend over the years? What are your opinions on it? What are your opinions on purism vs. using non-Lego solutions? Do you use non-Lego, and if so, why? What's OK to you and what's not, and why? Custom string? Custom stickers/prints? Custom tyres? Custom coloring? Custom springs? Can you define a limit that makes clear what's within and what's outside? If it's not clear, how do you handle the gray area? If you're an extensive user of non-Lego solutions, why are you into Lego instead of scale modeling in general? What are your opinions about all this?
  13. HEY All, LEGO We are two flourishing LEGO FANS who have decided to dedicate our Thesis research to an extensive study of the LEGO user's impressions on the LEGO Ideas platform and the fan contribution to TLG - basically on all of you!! SO, we would like to ask you 4 brief questions, which will be used as qualitative data in our thesis.1. How and why has the LEGO Ideas changed your perception of TLG?2. What would it take for you to feel alienated by LEGO in terms of their new ideas for co-creation? Or can LEGO do no wrong when it comes to creating with fans? 3. Would you say that LEGO co-creating with fans have made you more loyal to the brand? How? 4. Did the Lego Ideas Test Lab influence your perception of TLG? THANK YOU for any comments and responses!AND if ANY of you would like to help us even more - we would like to set up a skype-chat / informal interview with you, it will take no more than 10-15 minutes of your time It would be greatly appreciated!!
  14. Personally, I think a LEGO Superman movie would be good. It could be like a parody of Superman's origin, where it tries shoe-horning in as much stuff as possible like Supergirl, Doomsday, Luthor, Brainiac, Zod, obscure Silver Age baddies, etc.
  15. All 2017 Set Rumors!
  16. The year 2017 will host some of the best SciFi movies. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, teaser. Ghost In The Shell, official trailer. Finally a teaser is up for the upcoming 'Blade Runner 2049' movie. Alien: Covenant, official trailer. Any thoughts so far? I can only think of one thing; neo-noir cyberpunk dystopian easthetics.
  17. Personally, I'd like to visit the UK. For one thing, I'm part-British, and I also have a lot of friends from the UK, including one of my best friend's girlfriend.. whom he hasn't seen in months, sadly.
  18. Hello! I've created this topic to discuss about anything related to landmark sets (Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, Big Ben, etc.) You can talk about what you'd like to see as far as landmarks go, ask questions, post your opinion about any set, well, anything that's related to these beauties! To start off, I'd like to ask what everyone would like the next landmark(s) set(s) to be. For me, I'd see the Arc de Triomphe as a very good candidate. Even if the build would be mostly white bricks, I think it would make for a very nice display set. I've also thought about the Rome's Coliseum, but I think the build would be too repetitive, even for a landmark set.
  19. Introduction Hello, I present to you, my new, first fully-finished MOC and entry to TC10: The 'pneumatic press'! About I wanted to participate in the contest, and it should not be a problem for me since i have 42043 with all it's pneumatics. I didn't want however to create another vehicle. I really like the Hydraulic press channel so i decided to make a hydraulic press, well a pneumatic press to be precise. So here it is. I am creating the discussion topic after the build but that is perfectly fine because i have progress pictures which i will show you. If you have suggestions for mods etc. you are free to suggest. There are for sure a few flaws which can be made better. so it has a few functions - You can move the platform to position your part (2 yellow knob gears). You can move it for-/backwards and sideways. - The yellow blast shield can be opened with a small pneumatic cilinder. - There is a big cilinder for pressing. All controls can be found at the front. For safety there is a blast shield, just like in real presses. Building progress I realised that i had to make progress pictures when i was here: I had then made the positioning and i added a pneumatic pump. I made the platform such that it can handle a lot of weight, well it remains ABS plastic but i made sure to build it such that it doesnt fall apart when there's weight on the platform. As said, you can move the white platform sideways and for/backwards. This is done with gear racks. one knob gear is moving with the platform (in one direction). I can make something so that it doesnt move but that would make my MOC even uglier and i don't think it is a real problem. My plan was first to put the pump in the top, so that the tubes dont have to go up the pump. Later, i realised that you need a control panel and that the switches have to be at the bottom. So i added the pneumatic pump at the bottom. I didn't like an exposed pump so i used a beam and a lever mechanism which you will see in a video further down, OR in the final entry video. My first function is the blast shield. It works pretty nice and the blast shield doesnt look that bad. What i don't like is that the supports stick out. The blast shield cant clap up 90 degrees, but i don't think that is needed and it would make it a lot more complicated. then i built the cilinder for pressing. It only has one attachment point so i had to make a frame such that it can't swing. the 4l axles, next to the pins, will later be replaced with 7l axles but you will see later on. This will be attached to the frame This cilinder also has to be connected to the switches and when all the tubing is done, the underside looks like this you can actually see that i had too little space for all the tubes so i gave him 4 feet (the LBG rims). then i need to do panels to work it off. You can see that i used some frames and beams to make the top part stiffer. between the black panels, come the grey panels which can fold out On top of that goes a cover which wont be attached with pins. This is so you can easliy see through and repair/change something. Now it is done, finished. here is one more picture The way the black panels are attached is really ugly. Then i built in in LDD, this way i can see exactly how it is made and where it is the weakest. file can be found at the bottom. While building i changed the model a bit. I replaced 2l pins with 3l pins. Red pins with axle connectors for regular pins, and added extra pins for more firmness. i also changed the way the black pannels are attached and i added a some beams. On the cover i added 2 red 5l beams so you can pick it up more easily. the final version is the one, made in LDD. Of course there are no pneumatics but it is pretty clear where they have to come. It is very good visible on the pictures. I couldnt find a few parts in LDD so i used something else. Updates/Changes Let me know what you think. What are good and what are bad things about it. Feel free to suggest changes because a MOC is never perfect. I haven't done measurements like part count weight, volume etc. but if you want to i can do that. does anybody know when i can enter my moc in the entry topic? Upgrade 1: post #13 I am not gonne upgrade the lxf file, maybe later. Here is the lxf file: pneumapress.lxf
  20. This is a forum where you can discuss multiple topics on DC and upload an MOCs, leaks, rumours and more. Is anyone doing the Rebrick competition
  21. So with all talking about what Ninjago has planned in 2016, and nobody else having started a topic for all these questions and rumors to go I decided to make one. Please keep all comments on topic and remember to not post any pictures that are super blurry or having the confidential stamp on them (even thought it's tempting because there are so many). We can start by putting rumors about; Who is the new samurai? Who is the giant big-fig? Why are there swords with the ninja's (and sensei's) face on them? Why is Jay a pirate? Why does Cole still appear to be a ghost? Enjoy and I can't wait to see what people come up with.
  22. I'm trying to work out the "proper" length scale for my various 6-wide trucks and trailers to make sure they look realistically proportioned, and after talking to my dad (who is a retired long-haul trucker) and looking at the actual regs for truck myself, it turns out that European trucks are actually built from modules to make it easier to satisfy all the rules - and these rules are built around 80 x 120 cm cargo pallets, that will fit either two or three in width inside the cargo box. My immediate thought was that if you then go by exterior scale only, and assume the real trucks have negligible thickness of the walls, you can basically use 2 x 3 tiles to represent the cargo pallets, and determine the length in studs fairly simply by counting the number of pallets that fits. In Europe, the standard modules are 7.2 meters (for 18 pallets), which translates to 6 x 18 studs; and 13.6 meters (for 33 pallets), which translates to 33 studs. The entire vehicle including all trailers is normally limited to 25.25 meters, which is 63.125 studs. Basically, it has to fit on two 32 x 32 baseplates, and it's road legal in the EU. In Canada, they allow trailers up to 16.2 meters, which is 40.5 studs - I'd call it 40, easier to work with as that's two 6 x 16 and one 6 x 8 plate, and a 23 meter total vehicle length restriction (57.5 studs). The US regs are confusing, because all the ones I can find are for *minimum* lengths. A single trailer has a federal minimum length of 48 feet, which translates to 36 studs; some states have old trailers that conform to longer form factors (up to 59 feet, which would be 40 studs!) They also have a minimum length of 28 feet (21 studs) per trailer in a multi-trailer rig. And of course there are the exceptions, for when your cargo doesn't fit in neat packages. All of this assumes that you're comfortable with minifig-scale fudging, by the way - once you put siding on your trailer there's no way to actually stick that many 2 x 3 tiles in there... (Now, to rebuild my truck MOCs to fit the correct lengths...)
  23. I wanted to reach out and ask people's opinion on the current format of the CMF Series. I also created this to discuss the series in a different way. I believed talking about the current rota in the other CMF threads would derail the threads. So, I must ask what is your opinion?
