    Boromir's Delusion

I'm glad to present you my entry for round 2 of Middle Earth Lego Olympics on Mocpages. The category was "Breaking of the fellowship" and the first scene I thought about was Boromir trying to take the ring at Amon Hen. Thanks for looking!

    [MOC] Ithilien Ranger Ambush

I'd like to present to you my newest creation, based on the scene from TTT where Faramir's Rangers of Ithilien ambush the forthcoming Men of Harad, as Frodo, Sam and Gollum are watching from a distance. (The latter three not included in the scene) "In order to protect the road from Minas Morgul to Osgiliath from possible attacks, Faramir has sent his Rangers of Ithilien to await the forthcoming Haradrim on the road to ambush them as soon as they are in sight. The fist group of Men of Harad is coming closer and closer, and as they approach the rangers, the first strike is received by the enemy..." __________________________________________________________________________________ This MOC can also be found on Flickr and MOCpages. Enjoy, C&C is welcome as always. It would also help me if you could tell me which of the versions of these pictures you like best, the one with a solid white background or the one with the map of Middle-Earth - this will help me pick a definite picture for Flickr.

    [MOC] Into Mordor

Here's my newest creation, depicting the scene from ROTK where Frodo and Sam, disguised as orcs, are approached by a group of orcs and their linebreaker... "After Samwise Gamgee rescues Frodo from Cirith Ungol, they travel further into the land of Mordor, disguised as orcs. As they keep walking on and on, weary and tiresome, they find that up ahead a group of orcs is passing through, slowly moving towards them. As they keep calm and quiet, hoping not to be seen, they are approached by an orc linebreaker who sees them as little orcs and pulls them into the group to march among them..." ___________________________________________________________ You can find it on both Flickr and MOCpages, as well. C&C is welcome as always.
  4. Hello all! The lack of Ent moc's recently has been disturbing... so here's my part in filling the void! Meet Beatenbark, he is partially inspired by the models in the Lego LOTR game. He's fully articulated, neck, arms, elbows, hands, waist, legs and knees. Let me know what you think, and please, I would love to see more people build some Ents! Thanks much- Mr.Macgyver
  5. After about 1 week in the making my second LOTR dio is finally done! As the title says it´s the attack on weathertop. I got the set around one/two weeks ago and i thought it could usesome improvements not, to be honest this didn´t turn out as good as I had hoped for, but it has it´s points. Hope you all will like it either way!
  6. Just what it says in the title. I'm willing to pay no more than $3-$4 USD for the polybag, and I'd also be interested in just the Mirkwood Elf figure and not the accessories. I'd like multiples. I have a large amount of collectable minifigs on hand, so I'd be willing to trade for the Mirkwood Elf. Just PM me with the ones you want and I'll see what I can do for you. ~Dwarf
  7. With the release of The Hobbit in the US this week, I thought now would be an appropriate time to share one of my better MOC's, The Balrog from The Fellowship of the Ring film. Backstory Way back in June, Barnes & Noble held Lego events at select Lego stores. At my store, we received two sets for children to choose from (while supplies lasted) build (with our help as necessary, using the instructions or building their own MOC), then write or illustrate a story about their creation, and finally take home all the parts from their set. The sets offered were the Harry Potter Lab and the Friends Ice Cream Stand - as shown in the Brickset link, except our Ice Cream Stand kit came with a wonderful bonus, the orange cat/Mrs. Norris from Hogwarts. The Poster and MOCs (Backstory Continued) To make our store's event more special for the attendees, I wanted to make a poster to show kids (and kids at heart) how to take their free set and integrate it into their own assortment of Lego elements. Fortunately, I had the parts needed for the The Lab and Ice Cream Stand. Starting with those, I used my own time to build a poster and two MOCs. The first used the Ice Cream Stand to build a Friends jungle adventure. The second used the Harry Potter lab to make The Balrog, Khazad-dûm battle, and Tolkien's study. The final poster looked like this - click the image for a higher resolution version - yes, for Lego historians, "Just Imagine" is a nod to the old "Just Imagine..." that Lego used to include on the back of some products: The Balrog, Khazad-dûm, and Tolkien's Study With the recent release of Lego's The Lord of the Rings sets, I decided to base the The Lab MOC after the set I wanted Lego to make the most: the Balrog. The final composition image, featured below, is made of three parts. From the top down, first we have close ups of the two main characters: the Balrog and Gandalf. Next is a wide angled shot of the Bridge of Khazad-dûm, and the confrontation between the Balrog and Gandalf. The rest of the Fellowship watches on in dismay. Finally, at the bottom of the image, you can see Professor Tolien at work on The Fellowship of the Ring. I'll admit that some elements in this last area, like the Harry Potter minifigure head - are not the best. However, I wanted to include as many elements from The Lab as possible - remember, even though it's a LOTR MOC, the goal of this piece was to illustrate how to use The Lab with other Lego elements. As with the poster above, you can click the image below to view the same image at a higher resolution: Afterward This was already a long post, and I haven't taken any more photos, so I didn't attach any more images. However, if anyone want to see more, just let me know and I'll be happy to take some non-Photoshopped Balrog images. For example, things like more views of the Balrog, the trapdoor in the Bridge of Khazad-dûm, or the Balrog's hinged jaw are easy to photgraph.

  9. Hello all. I'm looking for several LOTR and The Hobbit figures, so continue to see what I'm looking for and what I may have for you. Haves I'm willing to trade several SW figures. This includes clone troopers (Clone Wars (maybe but doubtfully commanders too), ep3 clones (2007 versions), and NEGOTIABLE stormtroopers (2007 versions). Maybe some Jedi, Ewoks, etc, stuff like that. Anything else depends on your wants, though the stuff above should be up for trade. I've got multiples of most of the stuff, and I may have some collectible minifigures. Note: Spiderman is gone. Still have an old Doc Ock figure (Hideout set) in sand green clothing, which I'd have to put together first. Wants Here's a list of the LOTR/Hobbit figurunes I'm looking for: [AMAP] = As Many As Possible * Must come with originally included weapon LOTR Rohan Soldier* - AMAP Éomer* - Several - (Loose helmets, legs, torsos and/or green capes are welcome too) Uruk-hai* (Breastplate) - AMAP Uruk-hai* (Breastplate, White Hand) - AMAP Uruk-hai* (hair) - A few Uruk-hai Berserker - AMAP Ringwraith* - x9 Mordor Orc (preferably w/hair) - AMAP Moria Orc - AMAP Merry - x1 Frodo (green cape) - x1 Brown Horse - AMAP Ringwraith Horse - x9 The Hobbit If you trade figs from a certain set, I prefer to have all the figs from that set, otherwise if I can't find the remaining ones I might have to get the set and I don't want duplicates unless they're generic figs like goblins. Probably don't need Gandalf. All 13 dwarves - x1 (of each dwarf) All editions of Bilbo Baggins* - x1 Gollum (Riddles) - x1 Yazneg - x1 Hunter Orcs - Several The Goblin King* - x1 Goblins (all available 3) - AMAP Legolas* (Mirkwood) - x1 Tauriel* (Mirkwood) - x1 Elf Butler Dark Red (With Key) - x1 Elf with Brown Hair* - x2 Mirkwood Elf* - Several White Warg - x1 Grey Warg -AMAP Star Wars (New - Additional Wants) Sith Trooper (2013) - AMAP (red and black - mostly the black ones) Republic Trooper (2013) - AMAP Jacen Malcom (2012) - x1 Satele Shan (2012) - x1 FM or post here.

    Review: 5000202 Elrond

When I first got news of this figure, I knew I had to own one. What Tolkien fan in their right mind would pass up a Last Alliance Elrond minifigure? However, it was a preorder bonus so I had to dish out a fair amount for him figure. Keep reading for my 25th review special! Set Information: Name: Elrond Set Number: 5000202 Pieces: 6 Price: Preorder Bonus Ages: 6+ Minifigs: 1 Theme: Lord of the Rings Year of Release: 2012 Bricklink Brickset Flickr Set Baggy: The front of the bag has an action pose of Elrond over what could be actual movie footage. It's to small to tell. Then we have the Lord of the Rings banner, Saurons middle finger with the ring on it. Flipping the bag over, we have the usual safety spiel. However, there is no clear line where the color print didn't go, so we can't see the contents of the bag. The baggy is the exact same size as the Darth Maul promo polybag, which is slightly smaller than a normal polybag. Contents: There are only six parts in the bag, and no extras, but I'm already drooling over that sword! Minifigure: So, here he is, out of the bag, and in his full glory. He does look good doesn't he? I have no complaints what-so-ever about him, but let's go a bit more in-depth. Starting with a straight on shot, the first thing that jumps out at me are the colors. We have gold, a soft green, and a darker blue. They all work together perfectly here, capturing the essence of the costume. LEGO did an excellent job making the design simple but still keeping that detail. He has the same hair as Legolas and Haldir, but in dark brown. Notice he has a short cape rather than the long one featured on the bag. I'm still unsure as to why this happened, but I'll be emailing LEGO to see if I can get a long one. The armor continues on the back, even though we don't see it in the movie, I'm sure it looked something like this. A side-by-side comparison of the minifigure and Hugo Weaving who plays Elrond. There's no dirt on any of the minifigure's clothing, but I think that probably would have made it to busy. Other than that, it looks like a great recreation of him. Lastly, a quick comparison of the three elf minifigures available. They all have drawn faces and serious expressions. Nothing funny about these three. Conclusion I'm very happy with this figure. LEGO did an excellent job adapting him into LEGO form, and I can't complain about the color scheme. That sword still has me drooling, so many opportunities to use it. If you're on the fence about Elrond, go get yourself one, he's worth it! Ratings: Playability: 9/10 He's as playable as any minifigure, I don't do much playing myself, and less so with this guy as I paid a nice sum for him. Design: 10/10 The design is perfect, then again, there wasn't much LEGO had to do to this guy. But they adapted him nicely. Price: 8/10 Like I said, I dished out $25 for this guy, which I think is pretty fair for how limited his release was. Minifigure: 10/10 If LEGO, keeps making figures like this I think it's time I get a job. Parts: 10/10 I just love that new sword mold. It looks like a perfect representation of the movie prop. Total: 47/50 Not a perfect score, but I don't think minifigures really work on a scale like this. Like this review? Want to learn how to make good reviews? Then join the Reviewers Academy!
  12. Hey everyone, Does anyone know if they'll be launching an OSX version of the game? I know some of the previous games have been launched for the operative system, but i googled it and I don't know if it's usual for the Mac version to be released after the other platforms. Does anyone have any clue? Thanks (hope this is the right place to post this!)
  13. I know a lot of people were looking forward to the Elrond minifigure, but it appears it no longer will be available and all of them they had in stock were sent out with the Nintendo DS/Ps Vita pre-orders that shipped Oct 30. Here are the e-mails I received from Gamestop when I inquired about the minifigure: Unless this employee was horribly misinformed and they will be getting in another shipment, it seems they have no more Elrond minifigures to send out when the console and PC versions of the game ship next week. I mentioned this possible dilemma in the Elrond Designer video thread because I first noticed people claiming they were not recieving the minifigure with their DS/Vita pre-orders on another forum. If this info is right, this seems incredibly sloppy to me. People who ordered the PC version and consol version of the game didn't even have a shot at the minifigure. Thoughts?
  14. As some of you may have noticed there is a designer video of the new elrond minifigure, here is a link to what you have to do to watch it, http://thelordofther...cmp=COUSFR9LOTR Once you are on the link and a map of lego lotr has appeared you need to look in the bottom right hand corner of that page and there is a box which you enter a code into to watch the designer video of the elrond figure, the code is A9FB4Q the box has a title that reads enter code, once you have entered the code a little clip will appear for the video, hope it works for everyone if not just ask me and I'll try to help :)

    Customized Rohirrim Army

After getting several Uruk-hai Army sets I have started to notice my Rohan soldiers really starting to look way to similar and redundant. I tried using Eomer without his cape as a basic grunt and switching his helm/head/torso/legs with the Rohan archer, but this only allows for so many combinations and still they all have either the orange or light brown facial hair. Unlike with the Uruk-hai there just aren't that many possible combinations for Rohan soldiers atm unless you look outside the LotR line. Luckily they are a somewhat rag tag band so you can easily switch some pieces out and get a really distinct looking army that still feels very Rohan-esque. With that said, I am now turning to Bricklink to further customize my Rohan army. My question is what helms/heads/torsos/legs have people found to work really well as basic Rohan grunts? I would obviously prefer flesh color heads as those are what the rest of the LotR line is done in. I would also prefer the newer, really highly detailed pieces to better mesh with my exisiting LotR minifigures (no Harry Potter heads from 8 years ago please!). So, what can you guys come up with? I would prefer not to have to do any modding such as painting or cutting/modling. Even so, here are some great custom figures from General Magma to give you a general idea of what I am going for!

    [MOC] The Battle of Osgiliath

Hello all! Just wanted to share with you a diorama I've been working on, featuring the Battle of Osgiliath from The Lord of the Rings (ROTK). "Once the pride of Gondor, a shining city near the River of Anduin, now a battlefield overrun by the evil forces of Sauron. Gondorians and Ithilien Rangers are fighting for their lives as more and more orcs keep approaching from the East, but it all seems like a never-ending wave of evil sweeping itself over the outnumbered forces of the West..." ______________________________________________________________ Click the first picture for some more shots of this MOC in my Flickr photostream! Enjoy, C&C is welcome as always.
  19. I noticed a lot of people were listing their favorite dwarves in the main LotR/Hobbit thread. I figured it might be nice to have a separate thread to discuss which is your favorite, as well as have a poll to vote so we can see which is the most popular (could I a mod please add a poll with all 13 dwarves?). 20. 008 by Eurolock, on Flickr 009 by Eurolock, on Flickr I posted a few pics of this before the great crash of 2012. Thought I would post it again in a thread of its own to get some feedback (this is my first attempt at castle). What I was trying to do was expand the official set so that it was a much more complete representation of Helms deep (comparable to the Weta polystone environment). The aim was to keep the general scale (as defined by the front gate) and design aesthetic. I also wanted all the major areas seen in the movie to be represented (interior of the keep, back stairs, glittering caves etc) This rear shot shows the interior of the keep and the caves beneath 001 by Eurolock, on Flickr The caves are connected by a passageway to the front area of the fortress as depicted in the movie 003 by Eurolock, on Flickr This shot shows Eomer on the back stairs. The stairs actually work as a sort of 'ball-track' play feature as a boulder can be rolled through the back gate and will follow the winding path of the stairs knocking down any uruk hai in its path. This is a nod to an event in the book where a great boulder is cast down upon the uruk-hai as they attempt to take the rear gate. 002 by Eurolock, on Flickr This shot shows Eomer on the walkway that connects the inner and outer walls. I changed the original model here so that the walkway enters the inner door through a doorway as shown during Aragorn's retreat to the keep. You can also make out the entrance to the passageway through to the caves. 005 by Eurolock, on Flickr Aerial shot. I had a lot of trouble with the spiral ramp that leads up from the front gate to the area in front of the keep. 011 by Eurolock, on Flickr Gamling in the caves. The whole set-up is modular and a section of the caves can be removed for separate play. The lack of roof was necessary for access. 016 by Eurolock, on Flickr 015 by Eurolock, on Flickr The battle in full swing....If only I had as many Uruks as Deathleech...
