  2. Now that the second LotR wave sets have been out for awhile it got me thinking, what does everyone else think is the best set of the bunch this time around? How does this wave compare to the first LotR wave and the Hobbit wave so far? Personally I am torn. I generally like the bigger sets best because I feel they offer more (and the price reflects it ), but I feel like the smaller sets actually offer a lot this time around too. I definitely liked the first LotR wave the best though, mainly because of Helm's Deep and the accompanying army/wall builder with the Uruk-hai Army. Please note Tower of Orthanc is not on this list for two reasons. First off it seemed like it would hands down be the winner. Second I don't think it is technically part of wave two since it doesn't share the same LotR logo in the top right? So, what is YOUR Favorite?
  3. This is Bilbo as seen in the beginning of The Fellowship of the Ring. I based his design off of the video game version, but it didn't turn out completely accurate. I'm thinking the upcoming CMF Grandma's hair could work for him. Might be a bit too lady-ish, though? Feel free to use.
  4. I noticed a lot of people were listing their favorite dwarves in the main LotR/Hobbit thread. I figured it might be nice to have a separate thread to discuss which is your favorite, as well as have a poll to vote so we can see which is the most popular (could I a mod please add a poll with all 13 dwarves?). [MOC] Into Mordor

Here's my newest creation, depicting the scene from ROTK where Frodo and Sam, disguised as orcs, are approached by a group of orcs and their linebreaker... "After Samwise Gamgee rescues Frodo from Cirith Ungol, they travel further into the land of Mordor, disguised as orcs. As they keep walking on and on, weary and tiresome, they find that up ahead a group of orcs is passing through, slowly moving towards them. As they keep calm and quiet, hoping not to be seen, they are approached by an orc linebreaker who sees them as little orcs and pulls them into the group to march among them..." ___________________________________________________________ You can find it on both Flickr and MOCpages, as well. C&C is welcome as always.

  8. After seeing Eurolock's Helms Deep mod/moc I decided I had to do my own. TLG's original set was lacking, in all respects, so something had to be done. Any feedback/comments would be great, thanks a lot! You can check it out on my flickr:
  9. Umbar was once the chief southern port of Gondor, but after the fall of Numenor and ages of strife, Umbar became an independent rival state under the control of the Haradrim. The Corsairs of Umbar were nominally privateers, though their fleet included more than 50 capital warships, more interested in destroying Gondorian vessels to exert dominance than raiding them for the sake of simple profit. I've been meaning to do a ship for some time now, and I've also been on a bit of a LOTR kick of late, so the Corsairs of Umbar seemed like a good way to kill two birds with one brick. I debated for some time as to what the ship should look like. The Peter Jackson film envisioned a boat with strong eastern influences, like a junk or a dhow but I know many history buff and fans of the books who firmly avow that the ships are clearly dromonds while still others avidly argue in favor of caravels. After much internal debate, it suddenly dawned on me that, while Tolkien's work was clearly informed by history, it was in no way constrained by it and that, rather than trying to cram an accurate model of an historical ship into Middle Earth, I should just build something with lanteen sails (the only feature all the candidate ships and the text itself had in common)that looked both cool and intimidating. Hopefully it's pretty clear that this is a warship, long keel, narrow beam, battering ram just below the waterline; why even pretend to be a cargo ship? I was really going for something that looked like it could slice through a ships hull as easily as it cut through the waves. The raised afterdeck is so the helmsman can line up a clean shot over the heads of raiders waiting to board the enemy vessel. The top of the ram's base is just visible above the waterline on the bow. A bank of oars (11 per side) helps to put on the extra head of steam for ramming speed (and backing away afterwards) The elevated stern affords a commanding view of the surroundings. The rigging (or entire lack thereof) could use some work, but overall I'm happy with how things came out. Happy sailing....
  10. Hi to all, In the previous years I always made a custom advent calendar out of LEGO. In order that my fantasy is not limited - and not to cost it a penny - I made these in LDD. The theme I chose this year is LOTR and The hobbit. I post a new miniset every day. They are compatible with lego advent calendars, so they fit in a regular window, and sometimes it is a minifigure, sometimes something else. LDD has a limited variation for minifig torso and head printing, so for these days use your imagination Day 1 - Palantir
  11. Hi I made two sets of council of Elrond into one.. Just to make it more like the movie and to make it big. Made more chairs, add tree's and made the hall longer. And with my extra Arwen, I remove the dress and putt on the legs from the soldiers/scouts from Lone Ranger theme. And put her next to my Attack on weathertop set to get wounded Frodo away.. what do you think... grtz raymond

    LOTR: Paths of the Dead

A scene I built for the Middle Earth LEGO Olympics, depicting Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli's escape from a flood of sculls in the Paths of the Dead. Which glows in the dark! Thought my glow pieces would give a nice ghostly atmosphere here. Thanks for stopping by!
  13. I will trade for unwanted fleshies and those Gimli's that seem to breed like rabbits. Here's a quick summary of what else I'm wanting and what I have. I'm looking for a few figures from LOTR, Marvel and TMNT as well as quite a few minifigure accesories. I have a lot of figures from LOTR/Hobbit and CMF and a few from various other themes. If you are looking for parts, let me know what you need and I'll see if I can help. Questions are welcome here but PMs are preferred for working out a deal. Thanks for looking! Customized Rohirrim Army

After getting several Uruk-hai Army sets I have started to notice my Rohan soldiers really starting to look way to similar and redundant. I tried using Eomer without his cape as a basic grunt and switching his helm/head/torso/legs with the Rohan archer, but this only allows for so many combinations and still they all have either the orange or light brown facial hair. Unlike with the Uruk-hai there just aren't that many possible combinations for Rohan soldiers atm unless you look outside the LotR line. Luckily they are a somewhat rag tag band so you can easily switch some pieces out and get a really distinct looking army that still feels very Rohan-esque. With that said, I am now turning to Bricklink to further customize my Rohan army. My question is what helms/heads/torsos/legs have people found to work really well as basic Rohan grunts? I would obviously prefer flesh color heads as those are what the rest of the LotR line is done in. I would also prefer the newer, really highly detailed pieces to better mesh with my exisiting LotR minifigures (no Harry Potter heads from 8 years ago please!). So, what can you guys come up with? I would prefer not to have to do any modding such as painting or cutting/modling. Even so, here are some great custom figures from General Magma to give you a general idea of what I am going for!

For a competition on MOCpages I created this Fell Beast from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It was fun tackling a dragon, and I wanted to try a more dynamic pose than is usually seen. Thanks for dropping by!

  19. Hello guys, I´d like to show my next LOTR Moc. It´s one of my favourite small scene in first part of LOTR. More pictures you can find here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=523742 feedbacks and comments are welcome Have a nice day Patrik
  20. Hello all. I'm looking for several LOTR and The Hobbit figures, so continue to see what I'm looking for and what I may have for you. Haves I'm willing to trade several SW figures. This includes clone troopers (Clone Wars (maybe but doubtfully commanders too), ep3 clones (2007 versions), and NEGOTIABLE stormtroopers (2007 versions). Maybe some Jedi, Ewoks, etc, stuff like that. Anything else depends on your wants, though the stuff above should be up for trade. I've got multiples of most of the stuff, and I may have some collectible minifigures. Note: Spiderman is gone. Still have an old Doc Ock figure (Hideout set) in sand green clothing, which I'd have to put together first. Wants Here's a list of the LOTR/Hobbit figurunes I'm looking for: [AMAP] = As Many As Possible * Must come with originally included weapon LOTR Rohan Soldier* - AMAP Éomer* - Several - (Loose helmets, legs, torsos and/or green capes are welcome too) Uruk-hai* (Breastplate) - AMAP Uruk-hai* (Breastplate, White Hand) - AMAP Uruk-hai* (hair) - A few Uruk-hai Berserker - AMAP Ringwraith* - x9 Mordor Orc (preferably w/hair) - AMAP Moria Orc - AMAP Merry - x1 Frodo (green cape) - x1 Brown Horse - AMAP Ringwraith Horse - x9 The Hobbit If you trade figs from a certain set, I prefer to have all the figs from that set, otherwise if I can't find the remaining ones I might have to get the set and I don't want duplicates unless they're generic figs like goblins. Probably don't need Gandalf. All 13 dwarves - x1 (of each dwarf) All editions of Bilbo Baggins* - x1 Gollum (Riddles) - x1 Yazneg - x1 Hunter Orcs - Several The Goblin King* - x1 Goblins (all available 3) - AMAP Legolas* (Mirkwood) - x1 Tauriel* (Mirkwood) - x1 Elf Butler Dark Red (With Key) - x1 Elf with Brown Hair* - x2 Mirkwood Elf* - Several White Warg - x1 Grey Warg -AMAP Star Wars (New - Additional Wants) Sith Trooper (2013) - AMAP (red and black - mostly the black ones) Republic Trooper (2013) - AMAP Jacen Malcom (2012) - x1 Satele Shan (2012) - x1 FM or post here.

  24. I know a lot of people were looking forward to the Elrond minifigure, but it appears it no longer will be available and all of them they had in stock were sent out with the Nintendo DS/Ps Vita pre-orders that shipped Oct 30. Here are the e-mails I received from Gamestop when I inquired about the minifigure: Unless this employee was horribly misinformed and they will be getting in another shipment, it seems they have no more Elrond minifigures to send out when the console and PC versions of the game ship next week. I mentioned this possible dilemma in the Elrond Designer video thread because I first noticed people claiming they were not recieving the minifigure with their DS/Vita pre-orders on another forum. If this info is right, this seems incredibly sloppy to me. People who ordered the PC version and consol version of the game didn't even have a shot at the minifigure. Thoughts?
  25. [pid][/pid]144D Please forgive the cross-forum post, I recently completed my design for the Corsairs of Umbar for the Lord of the Rings, but as the Corsairs were, technically, privateers (and I know how much people here enjoy ship designs) I thought I drop a quick pointer just in case anyone was interested but didn't happen to frequent Historic Themes. The vessel is built to roughly half mini-figure scale (I would have preferred minifig scale but both my parts supplies and shelf space are running a little low at the moment). She's 53 studs long overall and 39 studs long at the waterline. I realize I'm lacking rigging and that the lanteen sails would simply luff in their current configuration, but I was shooting more for an abstraction that would "fit" visually with my other (official) LEGO vessels and didn't want to go "line-happy" with string in the name of realism. For the curious, the full post and addition photos can be found here. For those of you who have already found the other post (or simply don't care) please forgive the interruption and ignore me
